ok cool I don't really know what I'm
talking about today I just decided to
film because my whole family is out of
the house for once, so I can film in a
room with light. even though it is
horribly gray and overcast and gloomy
and all of those things,
because that's spring in Minnesota. we actually have a
pond out there and there are just two
geese in it and I think they're sleeping
that's what kind of a day it is.
I'm not going to make a whole video about this
because so many people have and so many
people have talked about it way more
eloquently than I would but youtube has
this thing called restricted mode and it
is kind of notorious right now for
restricting queer content specifically
and even though I have like the smallest
channel that could possibly be
affected, I've been affected. I have had
my aromantic videos restricted, I've had
asexuality videos restricted, which...
those two just, I don't understand. those
videos are about me not experiencing
mature things like sexuality or romance
even why would those be restricted?? and
then some of the videos I've made with
mari have been restricted because we're
just too good of friends that don't have sex???
I don't know. like obviously no one
really knows how restricted mode works
because YouTube just doesn't tell us, but
I don't get it. and of course every video
I've made that has gay in the title is
restricted because... gay kids don't exist
that's, that's like controversial content or
something. I talked about Steven universe
that is literally a children's cartoon
and it's restricted because ... "gay"
even though they are gay! literally the
characters are gay. I...
I am done with it!
I know watching a video where people talk
about the videos that they have or have
not made yet isn't the most exciting
content, but I realized I really haven't
had the chance to talk to you guys
lately, so... I made an animation with Mari
of course, because I don't do the
drawing thing. but Mari does have art
skills so she's made animations for
various people for various holidays and
stuff which is super cute, it's great, I
love it. and she finished one for her
boyfriend in time for
valentine's day, and I saw it and I was like this is
super cool plus I have some free time
and I really like doing things where I
feel productive in my free time so can I
color that? and she said yes because like...
it's free labor basically?? and then I
spent a month of free time coloring it.
I did not realize how much effort goes
into color animation I don't know if
there's a more effective route but I
used photoshop for like the first time, I
have never used photoshop before, so
that's probably part of it, I was
teaching myself how to use photoshop at the
same time that I was trying to work on a
project in photoshop. I got better as
time went on there's definitely some
parts at the beginning where I was like
wow I could have done it so much more
efficiently instead of coloring
everything over again but it's a
learning process so it's okay I taught
myself I to use photoshop, and I finished
a project. I think it turned out
pretty well. Mari gave me a pretty much
zero direction on what she wanted as far
as colors go or backgrounds or anything
like that so for all of that stuff I was
just like well it looks like she means
this sort of a thing...? but her boyfriend
and his family watched it I guess and
they liked it so that's good. anyway, I
will link to that here and... watch it?
please? because I was pretty hyped about
it I'm really happy with the finished
product, and I think it's pretty cool
that like, Mari and I collaborated on this
thing, and I learned that I am like semi-
okay at coloring things? I thought I had
just like zero art skills as far as like
drawing stuff goes, but I'm okay to
like clean up sketches and color them I
just can't draw. speaking of videos that
I've recently put out, the last video I
did is just ducks. and the pond had melted
just enough so that the ducks could go swim
in it, and I happened to catch a couple
of them making ducklings
so that was weird. did not plan that at
all I was like hey I just want like some
nature shots maybe I'll use them someday
maybe I won't, and then I made a video of it.
I feel like I have so many ideas and
so many plans for videos that I want to
make that I just don't have the
resources or the space... specifically the
light, because in my room, I live in a
room without any windows so I can't film
in there really, like I've tried to
but it's just not good and then my
family lives in the rest of the house, and
someone is always home it seems, so it's
just... I feel like my channel could be so
much better if I just had access to like,
certain things... like alone time. that
would be great. but I, I don't. so I make
random videos. and I'm happy with
everything I put out, like I wouldn't put
anything on this channel if I wasn't
happy with it, but it's just not... it's just
not good enough, like I feel like I could
be doing so much more, but.
that is neither here nor there because I can't
do anything about it. yet. mmm. oh and the
other week quite a few of you just
independently left really nice comments
on my videos and that really just made
my week I don't have a big enough like
fan base or following or whatever where
people consistently like send me nice
things so I read every single comment
and I get like a decent amount of hate
despite how few followers I have so
every piece of positivity and every
nice comment really does mean a lot to
me. thank you so much for doing that.
every like every comment is like wow
somebody saw this, somebody saw me,
something I made, and enjoyed it. like...
it just makes me so happy. this video just
is nothing. it's a whole bunch of
individual segments that are very
loosely attached, so... what else has been
going on in the world? Trump's health bill
got denied so that's great he finally
gets to realize that he can't just do
whatever he wants and expect America to
go along with it
plus you know people won't get kicked off
of their health care now, so that's
good and very important I don't know if
I mentioned this before but my parents
both voted for Trump, so. *sigh* politics just...
like so much of my life at home is just
trying not to engage with them. it's a lot
well that took a turn. I think, that's, that's
a good place to just stop. I'm
getting so distracted because there are
now ducks in the pond as well as geese. okay,
anyway, uh, thank you for watching this
video, give a thumbs up if you liked it,
and leave me a comment telling me if you
get distracted by animals in your
backyard. do you have anything more
interesting than ducks and geese?
I've seen raccoons before, skunks, sometimes deer or uh
I've never seen a moose, I don't think.
I'll see you next week.
the geese normally are on the
side in the lawns just like pecking away,
but today they're in the water.
they're not doing anything they're just
sleeping in the water. it is so windy
outside that the geese get slowly
pushed across the pond
hmm oh they woke
up now because they moved too far

The Peoples President What Trump Just Did With American Truckers Today SHOCKED Every
Reporter In The Crowd
By Lindsey Bruce
American truckers are among the hardest working people in this country.
Having to leave your loved ones to drive for days at a time is no easy task.
President Trump understands that truckers are an essential part of America, and he respects
the job they do.
President Trump spoke with truckers and CEOs today to thank them for the work they do.
NO ONE KNOWS AMERICA LIKE TRUCKERS KNOW AMERICA TRUMP SAID.
Trump then surprised the crowd by jumping into the drivers seat of an 18 wheeler!
You could see the excitement in his eyes as he did what every single American would do
if given the chance to ride in a big rig
Advertisement
The president didnt care what he looked like, he was just having fun!
Its so refreshing to have a president who respects the working man and takes the time
to thank him for their sacrifices.
Thank you President Trump for truly being a president of
the people!

UFOs Halt Flights at Peru's International Airport, Twice - Duration: 4:10.
UFOs Halt Flights at Perus International Airport, Twice
By MJ Banias
According to recent reports, a large group of unidentified flying objects suspended regular
operations at the Jorge Chvez International Airport in Lima, Peru.
Twice.
The large collection of twelve airborne objects halted all aircraft from taking off or landing
for three hours on February 12th at 7:38 pm local time.
The event was leaked only days ago to the media by Ufologist Mario Zegarra, who was
provided with documents from CORPAC, the corporation which owns and operates the airport.
According to Zegarra, the radar tower was engaged in communications with pilots diverting
them to another airport due to unusual radar activity.
Zegarra stated,
The Jorge Chavez airport radar captured 12 unidentified echoes on its screen.
Each identified with code 0000, which means a UFO
Zegarra states that he heard recordings of the conversations between the control tower
and the pilots, but those have yet to be released to the public.
The front page a local Peruvian newspaper where the story broke.
During the incident, a second Ufologist, Joshue Cornejo, captured the image below in the same
area as the airport using an infrared video camera.
He and Zegarra claim that these twelve objects are the same ones that showed up on the airports
radar system, and are responsible for the suspension of outgoing and incoming flights.
According to Cornejo, the objects were not easily visible to the naked eye.
A still of the twelve objects that allegedly ground Limas international airport to a
standstill for three hours.
While this may be strange, the leaked documents also contained information regarding a second
UFO incident on February 7th which also temporarily shut down the airport at 9:40 pm local time.
According to the February 7th incident, the radar identified a large unknown object passing
over the airports airspace.
An image of the CORPAC documents provided by Zegarra.
Perhaps one of the most famous airport UFO incidents occurred over OHare International
Airport in 2006.
Personnel in the radar tower, ground crews, pilots and passengers all reported seeing
a large disk shaped object silently hovering over Gate C-17.
The initial sighting was made by a ramp operator who contacted the tower and the crew of a
United Airlines Flight 446.
A dozen employees reported the object to their superiors, while many others also allegedly
saw the object.
Regardless of ones personal belief towards the UFO question, these two incidents over
Peru ultimately caused significant inconvenience for the passengers who had to wait for the
airport to resume flights.
Furthermore, airports are busy with dozens of flights either ready to take off or land
within minutes of each other, and the slightest misstep on the part of the radar crew, pilots,
or ground crew can lead to tragic consequences.

Vedic New Year: Harness The Power Of The Sun God To Empower Your Life - Duration: 3:55.
Sun's movement into Aries is very, very important for all human beings because they
can make important changes in their life
So we have been given this thirty-day window for us to re-organize ourselves, and then
to create a new life. What I want to do is just talk about what the Sun can do
for the human beings or even for a country.
Japan is very, very closely associated with the Sun, because the King himself is considered
as a descendant of the Sun God, the Emperor.
And he's the only one who is allowed to go into the temple where there are six hundred
priests in that temple called Amaterasu, the Amaterasu.
It is the Sun Temple dedicated to the Sun Goddess.
The Temple is very alive.
I meditated on it, and Why is Japan so important?
Japan is a Trillion dollar economy, and how a small country with, with very little land
and people living there.
How are they able to become one of the financial powers of the world?
It's all because of the Blessings of the Sun God.
So when we talk about the Sun, it is simply not the Star in the sky, but it is also the
God.
That's why it is very important for the Yogis to chant Gayathri, which is the chant
for the Sun God: [Gayatri Chant:]
Om Bhur Bhuva Swaha Tat Savitur Varenyam Bhargo Devasya Dhimahi Dhiyo Yonah Prachodayat - You
meditate on the Sun, and then he will come and change your Consciousness.
All that you have to do is: you just meditate on him, and then the rest will be done by
him.
That is the meaning of this chant.
So Sun gives you Consciousness, gives you power.
Japan is powerful because it is The Land of the Rising Sun. It is the land that
attributes its beginning to the Sun God. So what the Sun can do?
It can give you the highest intelligence possible.
The Sun is responsible for strengthening your Left Brain.
Your Left brain is the Sun's part.
It [ your Left Brain] is directly connected to the Sun.
And what is the Sun?
The Sun is unlimited energy, unlimited power, unlimited intelligence.
It is very important.
Don't miss the time.
If you miss it, you'll be missing a year because then you have to wait for next year
for the Sun to come back to Aries.
So it's a very important time to come and to use. God Bless.

Why Do Golf Balls Have Dimples? - Duration: 2:55.
There are all kinds of balls used in sports, with different sizes, shapes, and designs,
depending on the sport's needs and history.
But there's something especially weird about golf balls: their dimples.
There are more than 300 dimples on a standard golf ball, and they're there for more than
just aesthetics.
Dimpled golf balls can fly almost twice as far as they would if they were smooth.
In the mid-19th century, players noticed that old-scratched up golf balls flew farther than
new, polished spheres.
So they started carving grooves into their golf balls to make them fly better.
By 1930, after years of trial and error testing, the golf ball had evolved into the familiar
dimpled shape we know today.
It might seem kind of strange that a rough surface would make golf balls fly better,
and at the time, they didn't know why it worked.
They just knew that it did.
But these days, we know the dimples work because of a trade-off: increasing one type of air-resistance
leads to a huge decrease in another.
There are two main kinds of air resistance: surface friction and pressure drag.
Surface friction works a lot like friction between solid objects — air rubs against
the sides of an object, slowing it down.
Generally, the more surface area something has, the more surface friction it creates,
so giving a golf ball a rough surface does increase surface friction.
But it also affects the second kind of air-resistance: pressure drag.
As the ball flies, it pushes air out of the way, creating a wake — a cone-shaped pocket
of low pressure behind the ball, which sucks it backward and slows it down.
You can experiment with wakes if you paddle your hand through water at different angles.
If you lead with your palm, you'll see a big triangular wake behind your hand, and
you'll notice that it becomes much more difficult to move your hand through the water
at higher speeds.
But if you turn your hand sideways, the wake becomes much smaller, and your hand passes
through the water much more easily.
In a golf ball, dimples reduce the size of the wake by creating a layer of what's called
turbulent flow.
The uneven surface messes up the smooth path of air around the ball, making it much harder
for the wake to form into a clean cone.
With its smaller wake, a dimpled golf ball doesn't get sucked backward as much, so
it flies farther.
So, golf balls have dimples to mix up the air around the ball causing the wake to collapse
more quickly, which allows the ball to fly faster for longer.
Of course, culture is a big part of the equation too.
Tennisballs get this effect by being fuzzy and Footballs would do better with dimples,
but have to settle for laces.

20 Things to do in Chiang Mai, Thailand Travel Guide - Duration: 16:14.
Today we're taking you around a city that we've been to many times before: Chiang
Mai (เชียงใหม่).
Located in the heart of Northern Thailand, Chiang Mai is a growing city with laid back
vibes, temples sprinkled around every corner, and a foodie scene that will make you drool.
This is a destination where you come to unwind and that's exactly what we did during our
month long visit.
Now let's get started with this tour of Chiang Mai (เชียงใหม่) so
you can see what this city is all about:
So this morning we're going to visit Wat Srisuphan better known as the Silver Temple and I have
to say this is probably my favorite temple in all of Chiang Mai (清迈).
It is quite underrated and it is also located outside of the walled city so very few people
actually make it here.
And it is just so incredibly ornate.
Like I need to show you the details for you to see what this place is like but it is pretty
cool.
It is amazing actually.
The temple is located in the city's silversmith district, so its walls are covered in silver,
nickel and aluminium panels created by the local craftsmen.
One thing to keep in mind is that only men can enter the ordination hall, so ladies,
you'll have to enjoy this one from the outside.
So Sam, what did you think of the Silver Temple?
It was amazing.
I love that it is so close to where we are staying and also it is probably one of the
most underrated temples in Chiang Mai (เชียงใหม่).
Like we were literally the only people there.
Yeah.
Nobody else.
Haha.
So next up we're visiting Wat Chedi Luang (วัดเจดีย์หลวง)
which is probably the best known temple in all of Chiang Mai (清迈).
It is located in the old city like right smack dab in the middle and what makes this temple
pretty special is that it used to house the Emerald Buddha that is now in Bangkok.
And we actually visited that a few weeks ago so it was pretty cool.
Um, now they have a buddha made out of a black stone here instead.
But it is really hard to see because it is located kind of like in there.
In there.
Haha.
And you can't actually climb the stairs so it is really hard to make it out.
What did you think of Wat Chedi Luang (วัดเจดีย์หลวง)?
It is a pretty impressive temple.
Uh, it is definitely worth the 40 Baht admission.
Yeah.
Our biggest tip is to come early in the morning and you get that nice soft light that is bouncing
off of the old ruins.
So next up we're visiting Wat Phra Singh (วัดพระสิงห์วรมหาวิหาร) and there is so much gold happening here that
it is almost a little bit blinding.
The sun is really hitting it at the right angle from the other side.
So I'm going to show you this.
Seriously.
It is like glowing.
It is glowing.
So Sam? have you ever seen this much gold this much bling bling in your life?
No and we picked the perfect time to come here because of the way the sun is reflecting
off it.
Yeah.
You know what?
I just picked up these gold sunglasses.
Woo hoo.
Finally.
Bye bye blue raybans.
I'm dressed for the occasion.
One of the best things you can do in Chiang Mai is ditch the map and get lost inside the
old city.
It's along the quiet back lanes that you'll find cozy cafes, terracotta gardens, unvisited
temples, and a little flavour of the old Chiang Mai (เชียงใหม่).
So Chiang Mai has really grown and expanded over the last few years and sometimes traffic
can be a little bit crazy, a little bit overwhelming but one thing we really enjoy is wandering
around inside the moat.
Inside the old city because sometimes when you turn down the right Soi it almost feels
like Chiang Mai is still a little village and it is so quiet and peaceful until a scooter
comes zooming past and honks at you to move out of the way.
Exactly.
Then the spell is broken.
RIght now we're visiting Chiang Mai Park and I have to say this is one of my favorite places
in all of Chiang Mai (清迈).
I get up almost every morning and go for a jog here.
So this is kind of my happy place.
But it is just a great park for relaxing, recreation, you can also come here and just
lie on straw mats or get a massage.
Yes, there is a great place to get a Thai massage and in the morning it is not busy
at all.
There is just a few joggers out like me but if you come in the late afternoon just before
sunset that is when it is packed.
That is when it is full of people out enjoying the sun.
The last few hours of sun in Chiang Mai.
Also known as Nong Buak Haad, this park is located in the southwest end of the walled
city, and is a nice escape from the busy streets.
So right now we're in the Chiang Mai market and this is a very lively area.
In the mornings you have kind of like a clothes flea market happening and they also have some
stands for breakfast and then when you come at night it is all street food so you can
get noodles, soups, dumplings, shakes and also right behind me you have the covered
market area which is basically open all day long but it is particularly busy in the mornings
so we're going to show you that next.
If you're looking for cheap yet delicious street food, you can't go wrong with the
stalls at Chiang Mai Gate.
We've had everything from wonton soup to green papaya salad, but we had a bit of a
sweet tooth on this particular outing.
So this dish is a classic.
Yep.
We get it every time we're at a Thai street food market.
We sure do.
And it is the banana chocolate pancake.
The banana chocolate roti.
Thai roti.
But but there is a but.
We found one with raisins.
Raisins!
I've never seen that as an option.
Yeah, that is a first.
And I'm like yeah!
Yeah.
So of course.
Who wouldn't want raisins?
Alright, so this is kind of like a pancake.
It was fried in oil and then butter and it has chocolate sauce drizzled all over it.
This place is so good.
We actually ate at that same vendor probably like three or four years ago in Chiang Mai
(เชียงใหม่).
Yeah.
Still just as good and the addition of raisins is really nice.
Oh lah lah.
And extra little bit of a chewy sweetness.
How much did you pay?
Oh, it was 45 but I think you can get one of the other ones for about 30 or 35 so it
is roughly one US dollar or slightly a little bit more.
They do mango sticky rice over there.
Ooh mango sticky rice.
Yeah.
So is that what we're going for.
I think we might.
Okay.
So no surprise here.
Does anybody want to venture a guess at what we're having for dessert?
Mmmmm.
Mango sticky rice of course!
We always go for the same thing but it is just so good and I'm kind of addicted to this.
And it is basically our last night in Thailand (ราชอาณาจักรไทย)
for a while.
Yeah.
So yep.
We will dig in.
Yeah, so we've got some sticky rice.
The lady put a whole mango in here.
We've got a lot of ripe mango.
That was awesome.
Yeah.
And lots of coconut milk doused over top.
Yeah.
Why am I struggling with this.
Normally you don't get a whole mango.
Usually you get like a half of one.
So they were pretty generous.
Mmmmm.
Is that good?
That is really good.
You know what?
I wish he had put like more coconut milk.
I can never get enough of that.
I know what you mean.
It is so sweet and so good.
That is so so good.
But this is nice.
And it was 60 Baht.
So less than 2 US bucks.
A dollar something.
Pretty good value I'd say.
So next up we have something called Kanom Krock.
Apparently.
We just learned the name.
So as you can probably tell we're just basically going for dessert tonight.
Yes.
Here in Chiang Mai (清邁).
Just sugar.
And these are kind of like coconut milk pancakes.
They are miniature pancakes.
Yeah.
And it is kind of dark so it is hard to show the detail but they're just like mini-pancakes
made with coconut milk and Sam got the pumpkin kind.
Really really crispy on the outside but then like really milky and coconut milky on the
inside.
Ooh.
Really sweet, really tasty.
You want to hold one up?
Yeah sure.
I just dropped my stick.
Dropping cutlery.
Oh my gosh this is way too hot to hold.
I can't do it.
Sorry.
I'm sorry.
Then you have the famed Saturday Night Market along Wualai Road.
We were kind of shocked by how crowded and busy it has become - we were walking shoulder
to shoulder and it wasn't very pleasant - so if you want to pick up souvenirs or sample
some street food here, it's best to go in the afternoon before things get crazy.
If there's one dish that's synonymous with Northern Thailand, it's khao soi (ข้าวซอย).
This dish is made with both soft egg noodles and crispy egg noodles, and it has a rich
curry and coconut soup that is delicious.
Squeeze a bit of lime on top and you're set!
And if Thai food is your thing, you'll be happy to know that there are lots of cooking
classes available in the city and out in the countryside.
This is a great way to take some of your favourite Thai recipes back home with you.
Going back to a bit of temple hopping, you can also visit Wat Umong, which is spread
out across a series of tunnels; Wat Pha Lat, which is tucked in the jungle and feels like
a bit of secret; and Wat Chedi Liam, which sits in the ancient city of Wiang Kum Kam.
If you're looking for a fun day trip outside of Chiang Mai, we'd recommend going to the
Elephant Nature Park.
This is a rescue centre and sanctuary where former working elephants roam free.
You'll get to come face to face with elephants, feed them fresh fruit, and even bathe them
in the river.
Now going back to food, again, one of the things we like about Chiang Mai (清邁) is
the restaurant scene.
If we had to recommend a few of our favourites we'd say: Salad Concept for healthy-build-it-yourself
wraps, Baan Bakery for when you're craving French baked goods, and Dada Kafe for shakes!
You need to try the shakes, because this is the stuff we dream of when we're thousands
of miles away.
Peanut butter lover!
He's a peanut butter lover.
How good is that?
Very.
Very good.
You can taste the crunchy peanut butter and there is cinnamon.
And it is natural peanut butter.
The real deal.
Dada Kafe has some of the best shakes you're going to have in Chiang Mai (เชียงใหม่).
I'm having mango, coconut and banana.
It is a life changing experience.
It is called Energy Me.
Energy me.
We also really like Dash, which serves up tasty Thai food and is always packed, especially
at night!
Okay so for a fancy meal in Chiang Mai one of our favorite places is Dash.
And the restaurant behind me is set in a Lanna style teakhouse so it is pretty cool especially
if you come here at night.
Yeah.
So at night it is all lit up and you can actually go up to the second floor and you can feel
the breeze blowing in and it is just really relaxed.
Really scenic.
So we really like it here.
We are purposely here in the middle of the afternoon at like three thirty so that is
why no one is around but we wanted to get a table and not make a reservation.
So we've placed our order.
Now we're waiting for food.
Cooling down.
You know what?
For late January in Chiang Mai this is the hottest I've ever experienced.
So these mango smoothies are essential this time of year.
You know it doesn't help that you're looking all furry like a bear.
That is probably holding in the temperature.
Wolverine in Chiang Mai.
So I'm trying a dish that I only discovered recently.
If you take a look here this is called Swimming Ramma and it is a peanut curry.
We got it with tofu so it is really tasty and it is served on a bed of morning glory.
Yeah, we tried this for the first time about a week ago.
It looks really nice.
Yeah, like I don't know if this is actually an authentic Thai dish or if it is just an
invention they have at this restaurant.
Any which way it is good.
Mmmm.
It is just so peanut-y.
I've been missing peanut butter.
So this is like as close as I'm going to get.
Ticking off a lot of boxes here.
Alright, so Chiang Mai is a city where it really comes alive at night.
It is worth just wandering around and seeing what is going on.
There is always something happening at Thapae Gate though.
And that is where we are right now.
Music playing.
As you've probably figured out, we're not really into nightlife, but Chiang Mai
does have lots of bars where you can enjoy a drink or two.
We kept things light with a Chang beer.
Alright, man on a mission.
Man on a mission.
So we're going to go check out the nightlife in Chiang Mai (เชียงใหม่)
and there are a lot of different options you can consider.
But we're just going to take you to a little local neighborhood pub.
It is just around the corner from where we're staying.
Let's go check it out.
Decompressing with a Changy Chang.
Yeah.
Changy Chang.
Oh, that really tastes good when you've been walking around the moat for quite a while
like we have.
As for transportation, the most economic way to get around is by songthaew (สองแถว).
These red trucks can be seen zigzagging all over the city.
You just have to hail one, and if they're going your way, they'll let you to hop in.
So this is a really exciting moment for us.
We are along in a Songthaew (สองแถว).
And this is the most.
Haha.
Yeah, it is almost like our own private taxi.
This is the most local type of transportation you can take in Chiang Mai.
It is just an amazing way to get around the city.
We use it almost daily whenever we're going somewhere that we can't walk to.
And the cool thing is you just hail it down.
You hail it down, you tell the driver where you're going, you hop in the back
of the truck and then when you're finished you go and pay the driver and it is usually
20 to 30 Baht.
So you're talking less than $1 US dollar.
And that's a wrap for our visit to Chiang Mai, Thailand (ราชอาณาจักรไทย).
We hope this video gave you a little taste of what this city is all about.
We'll be the first to tell you that we barely scratched the surface in terms of everything
Chiang Mai has to offer, but that being said, the goal of our time here was to relax, eat
well, see friends, and catch up on work.
As always, if you have any other suggestions of things to do, places to visit, and restaurants
to eat at, feel free to share those with fellow travellers in the comments below.
Until next time!

Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA Future Tone - [PV] "Tengaku" (Romaji/English/Español Subs) - Duration: 3:40.
"Tengaku (Music of Heavens)" Artist: Yuuyu-P
The blue time tells me goodbye
My sheltering umbrella casts me aside
Without me noticing, summer came to visit
I howl: "Where am I? Who am I?"
I kill the destination so that there is no end
I stitch the scenery together until there's nothing familiar left
I can't step out of this forest that I've built for myself
Why haven't I started walking?
Why haven't I made anything?
And so nothing has started
I surpass the corpses and those who rot but move forward
The blade of impulse that I ring out now smashes up the world
Before the glow of sunrise overtakes me
I don't care about this soggy, broken up sound, music of heavens
Why was I standing still?
Why did I continue the rejection?
And in the future where the trouble continues
The sound of buds blooming madly will cast aside the way back home
The blade of impulse that I ring out now smashes up the world
The sound piercing through those swaying bubbles
So beautifully they dazzle my eyes, music of heavens
The petals of a now fully bloomed look of madness adorn the world
Before the glow of sunrise overtakes me
This raising voice touches its core, music of heavens

[Review Classic Movie]Why The Godfather Almost Didn't Happen | RT Channel - Duration: 16:03.
Why The Godfather Almost Didn't Happen
Francis Ford Coppola's classic adaptation of Mario Puzo's The Godfather could have
been a very different film.
The Godfather is one of the greatest movies of all time.
Directed by Francis Ford Coppola, it was made on a $6 million budget, completed ahead of
schedule and was the first film in history to take in a million bucks a day.
It was nominated for 11 Oscars, won three and changed cinema forever.
That seismic cinematic shift would never have happened if Paramount had their way.
The studio suits hated everything about The Godfather until Michael Corleone put one in
the head and throat of a police captain, getting brains all over his ivy league suit.
They didn't like the actors, the director, the setting, the tunes, or the tone.
The studio didn't even like the puppet strings logo that graphic designer S. Neil Fujita
made for the book.
Figuring they would make a quick and cheap gangster picture, Paramount Pictures optioned
the rights to Mario Puzo's novel after his first 60 pages of scribbling in 1967.
The Godfather was supposed to be Puzo's quick fix sellout book after The Fortunate
Pilgrim was lauded by critics but largely ignored by the masses.
That is a mistake because the Italian immigrant stories at the center of the book are fascinating
without the crime overlay.
The studio ultimately paid $80,000 for the rights, beating out Burt Lancaster, who had
his sights on playing Don Vito Corleone, by one day in a bidding war.
Nobody expected the book to be a hit, but it whacked the competition.
The Godfather offered something nobody could refuse.
It sat on top of The New York Times Best Seller list for 67 weeks and sold more than nine
million copies in two years.
The studio almost dropped plans for the feature length entirely because they were worried
they wouldn't live up to expectations.
Italian-American households throughout the country could already see exactly what the
characters looked like.
Paramount's literary scout and production Vice President Peter Bart realized that the
book was more than just a Mafia story but didn't count on how much when he got the
check cut in March 1967.
The First Italian Mob Drama Made by Italians
The summer of love was also the year the ultraviolent gangster film Bonnie and Clyde ushered a new
wave of American film directors.
Francis Ford Coppola now stands at the top of that group, but at the time, he was not
their first choice.
Not by a long shot.
Robert Evans, Paramount's head of production wanted The Godfather to be directed by an
Italian American.
The studio's first choice was Sergio Leone, but he was getting ready to make his own gangster
epic Once Upon a Time in America.
Paramount then approached Peter Bogdanovich, who said the mafia didn't interest him.
They went through Peter Yates, Richard Brooks, Arthur Penn, Costa-Gavras, Otto Preminger,
Elia Kazan, Fred Zinnemann, Franklin J Schaffner, and even Richard Lester, the director of the
Beatles' A Hard Day's Night and Help! before they decided to put the squeeze on
Coppola.
The director of The Rain People said he'd work at a low salary and on a low budget.
Coppola was already into Warner Bros. for $400,000 because his American Zoetrope studio
went over budget on the film THX 1138.
Coppola got the job on September 28, 1970 for $125,000 and a vig of six percent.
But his cut rate wasn't the only reason he got the job.
Coppola had a vowel at the end of his name.
Paramount promoted The Godfather as the first Italian mob drama made by Italians, but some
Italians were offended.
Italian-Americans were continually portrayed as criminals in the movies and they were fed
up.
Joseph Colombo, of the crime family that bore his name, formed The Italian-American Civil
Rights League in 1969.
They demanded the words "mafia" and "Cosa Nostra" get pulled from the script and that
all the money the movie made at its premier get donated to their fund to build a new hospital.
Colombo didn't just see The Godfather as good excuse to squeeze money from the studio,
it was as personal as it was business.
The Colombo Family used to be called the Profaci Family, one of the first families of the Five
Families that ruled the Commission.
All that talk at the center of the book about "sleeping with the fishes" and "going
to the mattresses" came from the Gallo-Profaci wars that rocked the early sixties.
The Godfather Broke Omerta on a Real Mob War
The Gallo brothers, "Crazy Joe," "Kid Blast," and Larry, were on the rise, but
the Profaci Family didn't notice.
They did the job on Albert Anastassia, the lord high executioner, who ran the waterfront
and Murder Inc., in 1957, and still the Profaci command didn't notice.
In 1960, in the first known Mafia rebellion, Gallo made a run against Joe Profaci.
The Gallo brothers kidnapped the upper tier, much like Tom Hayden was snatched in The Godfather,
and got their ransom from the boss.
A little while later they got a message that their lead enforcer "slept with the fishes"
and the gang "went to the mattresses" in a safe house on President Street in Brooklyn.
Gallo was convicted of extortion and sentenced for 7 to 14 years on December 21, 1961.
Joe Profaci died in 1962.
When Gallo was released from prison in 1971 after serving 10 years, the Profaci Family
was called the Colombo Family and Joseph Colombo Sr. was the new boss.
Profaci had avoided the public spotlight.
Colombo formed the civil rights groups.
Colombo had been a capo until he became head the family with the support of Carlo Gambino,
in 1963.
The Genovese, Bonanno, and Lucchese gangs agreed because it put a temporary stop to
the Gallo wars.
When he got out of prison with a personal rep for civil rights defense, Gallo had a
sit down with Colombo and Joseph Yacovelli, who offered him $1,000 to keep the peace.
Gallo told them to make it $100,000.
Joseph Colombo was shot and paralyzed at the second Italian Unity Day by Gallo associates
on June 28, 1971, which happened to be the same day Coppola was shooting the film's
influential operatic ending a few blocks away.
A year later, Joe Gallo was shot, on his birthday, at Umberto's Clam House in Little Italy
by Frank "The Irishman" Sheeran.
Such bad blood, and so much of it, wasn't the best PR the mob could buy and while the
civil rights group made slow progress, the New York gang sped it up.
A Colombo crew stole a truck with a million dollars' worth of equipment from the Little
Italy set where Coppola was shooting a test.
They followed producer Al Ruddy's car around and called Paramount executive Robert Evans
at his New York hotel to threaten the life of his wife Ali McGraw and their infant son
Joshua.
Paramount had to evacuate its offices in New York's Gulf and Western Building twice for
bomb scares.
Before The Godfather started filming, Italian-American civil-rights groups had no muscle, but the
protests took on a life of their own.
Thousands of people joined.
Colombo's civil rights group held rallies around New York City, including one at Madison
Square Garden that raised $500,000 to help efforts to shutter production.
The Godfather producer Al Ruddy and Colombo had a sit down at the Park Sheraton Hotel.
Ruddy agreed to remove the word "mafia," which was only used once in the script anyway,
from the movie.
After Colombo gave the film his blessing, gangsters started showing up on the set to
meet the cast.
Caan got friendly enough with "The Snake" Persico that he asked why gangsters were always
touching themselves.
Years later, Caan would stand bail for Colombo crime family member Andrew "Andy Mush"
Russo.
Brando got elocution lessons from Joe Bufalino on Mott Street.
Colombo also made Ruddy cast Gianni Russo, who had worked for the mob boss, in the part
of Carlo Rizzi, Don Corleone's son-in-law.
James Caan, who played Santino "Sonny" Corleone, broke two of Russo's ribs when he
hit him with the garbage can in the street fight.
Coppola cast former wrestler Lenny Montana as Luca Brasi after he came to the set as
the bodyguard of the crime boss.
"That part is perfect.
It'll make him a big star.
I'm gonna run him out of the movies."
That was an easy part of casting.
Today it is impossible to see anyone but acting legend Marlon Brando as Vito Corleone.
At the time, executives could see anyone but.
Studio head Charles Bluhdorn said the former Terry Malloy, the boxer and enforcer from
the docks of On the Waterfront, would "never appear in a Paramount picture."
Everybody wanted to play Don Vito, except Rod Steiger who wanted to play the young Michael
Corleone, which pained Puzo because, while he admired the actor, he hated the age difference.
Ernest Borgnine, Orson Welles, Richard Conte, Anthony Quinn, George C. Scott, Jean Gabin,
Vittorio De Sica, John Huston, Paul Scofield, Victor Mature, and the original Little Caesar
himself, Edward G. Robinson, were considered for the role.
Robinson even got to go all Rico on Puzo's manager, threateningly telling him he should
"love his clients."
In The Godfather Papers, Puzo says he was particularly distressed when he heard Danny
Thomas was seriously considered to play Vito Corleone.
Puzo had sent Marlon Brando a letter saying he was the "only actor who can play the Godfather."
The studio was especially pushing for Laurence Olivier, who went on to star in Sleuth later
that year.
Brando was cast after he was tricked by Coppola into doing a screen test for Paramount president
Stanley Jaffe.
Brando stuck cotton balls in his cheeks, put shoe polish in his hair to darken it, and
rolled his collar.
During the filming, he wore a mouth piece that a dentist made for him.
Brando agreed to do the movie for free and put up a personal bond to insure the studio
against potential losses.
That didn't stop Brando from playing pranks, like weighing his stretcher when the hospitalized
Vito was brought home and taken upstairs to recuperate after the assassination attempt
or mooning his cast mates from the windows of city cabs.
Brando read from cue cards during most of the film and modeled his speech after mob
boss Frank Costello who he saw testifying in a trial on TV.
In the book Michael is tall and blond.
Paramount Pictures wanted Robert Redford or Ryan O'Neal to play the returning World
War II vet and college graduate.
Warren Beatty turned down the role.
The studio auditioned Caan, Martin Sheen, Dustin Hoffman, David Carradine, Dean Stockwell,
and Robert De Niro, who also tested for Sonny.
Coppola wanted theater actor Al Pacino, who had only starred in the film The Panic in
Needle Park at that point.
Even Puzo didn't support Pacino after seeing his audition.
The actor was unprepared and hadn't memorized the scene.
Pacino, who was contracted to star in MGM's The Gang That Couldn't Shoot Straight, a comedy
about the Gallo-Profaci wars, got past casting director Fred Roos by doing the part for only
$35,000.
Pacino really had his jaw wired shut for the first part of the shoot after his character
gets punched in the face by the crooked cop.
Robert De Niro was cast as Paulie Gatto but quit to star in The Gang That Couldn't Shoot
Straight.
Good thing, too, because it would have made him ineligible to play Vito in The Godfather
Part II.
John Cazale got the part of Fredo Corleone after Coppola saw him perform in an Off Broadway
play.
John Cassavetes and Peter Falk were both approached to play consigliere Tom Hagen.
The role of Sonny Corleone was originally awarded to Carmine Caridi.
James Caan and Robert Duvall both acted in Coppola's The Rain People (1969).
Caan's breakthrough role as Brian Piccolo in Brian's Song came out as The Godfather
was in post-production.
Caan tested for Michael and Tom Hagen.
James Caan scared everyone on set with his improvisational style, especially after the
scene where Sonny fights his brother-in-law Carlo Rizzo and Caan broke actors Gianni Russo's
ribs with a garbage can.
Coppola wanted Italian singer Vic Damone to play Johnny Fontane.
Al Martino, who was originally cast, went to crime boss Russ Bufalino to pressure Coppola
in giving him the role.
Frank Sinatra, who was pissed off about the similarities between him and the character
Johnny Fontane, talked with Coppola about playing Vito Corleone.
Coppola didn't just fight the studio.
He fought his own mother.
Coppola thought his sister, Talia Shire, was too pretty to play Connie Corleone.
But he had no problem casting his three-week-old daughter Sofia as Michael Francis Rizzi, Connie's
and Carlo's newborn son for the baptism scene.
Coppola's wife, mother, and two sons all appeared as extras in the picture.
His father, Carmine Coppola, who also wrote some of the music, appeared in the film as
an extra playing a piano during a scene.
The score was composed by Nino Rota.
The studio didn't like it.
They still didn't like a lot of things.
Paramount hired Puzo to write the script on April 14, 1970.
He got $100,000 and some of the vig.
His first draft was finished on August 10, 1970.
A second draft was written with Coppola.
They finished the final screenplay on March 29, 1971.
It was 40 pages longer than Paramount wanted.
Robert Towne did uncredited work on the screenplay.
It's not all dollars and cents
Paramount already took a bath on the mafia movie The Brotherhood and wanted Coppola to
modernize the script to 1972 and move it to Kansas City to cut costs.
The directors refused and demanded a $5 million budget and an 80 day shooting schedule.
Paramount gave him 53 days to shoot.
Coppola spent the first day at a family dinner with the cast who remained in character until
after the espresso.
Coppola was constantly undermined during filming.
Paramount Vice President Jack Ballard kept a close eye on production costs.
The studio thought cinematographer Gordon Willis shot the film too dark and that the
film was too talky and introspective.
Paramount threatened Coppola with a "violence coach."
The studio threatened to fire Coppola and Brando and Pacino kept solidarity by threatening
to quit if the director was taken off the project.
The studio kept Elia Kazan on standby until the Sollozzo scene came.
Paramount loved that.
All that blood and linguini, not to mention the veal and the accusatory look Sterling
Hayden's bad cop throws at Pacino's good son.
They even scrapped the intermission.
The Godfather was the highest-grossing film of 1972.
For a while, it was the highest-grossing film ever made.
Pacino, Caan and Robert Duvall were all nominated for Best Supporting Actor Oscars.
Coppola was nominated for Best Director.
Brando won the Oscar for Best Actor.
Puzo and Coppola won the Best Adapted Screenplay Oscar.
The movie won the Academy Awards for Best Picture.
Paramount was happy.
They released The Godfather Part II in 1974 and some film analysts think that was an even
better film.
The Godfather Part III came out in 1990 and, while it's far better than its reputation
suggests, it is not accepted as the classic that the first two films are...and almost
weren't.
