Classic Risotto, super useful recipe, a must know...

to learn how to do it and never forget.

So, here I have a hot pan,

to which I will add 1 tbsp. BUTTER.

Let the butter melt and add 1 chopped ONION.

Cook the onion, we don't want it to get golden but to sweat and become tender.

Once this is ready, let's add 100 ml. WHITE WINE.

Good quality please!

We will leave the alcohol to evaporate,

and to give all it's lovely perfumes...

that's why we need good quality wine.

I have 250 grs. CARNAROLI RICE.

And for you that you are preparing Risotto for the first time,

let me tell you why we use carnaroli rice.

Carnaroli rice is a rice full of starch,

that will suck up all the juices we will slowly add now.

And all of this is what makes risotto so creamy.

Let's add homemade vegetable stock.

For this stock what I did was,

I grab all the veggies I had in my fridge, a slice of carrot, red pepper, some fennel...

whatever you have, this is always going to be better than buying it.

Add to the veggies water, a splash of olive oil, salt, bay leaves, pepper...

or anything else you like.

So back to the risotto,

don't stop stirring it up.

The risotto is a very easy recipe,

the only thing it requires is attention.

Let's continue adding stock.

I have some saffron over here.

So I will add 1 tsp. SAFFRON,

together with some stock to my risotto.

Hot stock & saffron, into my pan!

Keep on adding stock when the risotto requires it.

The risotto rules, we obey.

So time to see if it's ready, how we know this?

We try it.

We want it to be "al dente" because once we turn the heat off, this will keep on cooking,

because of the lovely heat it has inside.

Come on here Delfina, let's try it!

Lovely, this is ready.

It's just around 15-20 minutes, depending on the amount of rice.

I will finish adding my stock & turn off the heat.

Finish it with some sea salt.

Just a pinch because our stock was already salty.

A bit of green pepper.

I also like adding some lemon zest.

For a fresh touch.

Now time to join our risotto, to emphasize this creamy texture.

For this I will add some parmesan cheese & butter.

100 grs. PARMESAN CHEESE.

1 tbsp. COLD BUTTER.

Ready & lovely, let's serve it.

Lovely, creamy.

Finish it with some fresh parsley.

The change from wishing fellow Americans "Merry Christmas" to wishing them "Happy Holidays"

is a very significant development.

Proponents of "Happy Holidays" argue it's no big deal - proponents of "Merry Christmas"

are making a mountain out of a molehill.

But the "Happy Holidays" advocates want it both ways.

They dismiss opponents as hysterical; but at the same time, in addition to replacing

"Merry Christmas" with "Happy Holidays," they have relentlessly pushed to replace

"Christmas vacation" with "winter vacation" and "Christmas party" with "Holiday Party."

So, then, which is it?

Is all this elimination of the word "Christmas" important or not?

The answer is obvious. It's very important.

That's why so much effort is devoted to substituting other words for "Christmas."

And these efforts have been extraordinarily successful.

In place of the universal "Merry Christmas" of my youth, in recent decades I have been

wished "Happy Holidays" by every waiter and waitress in every restaurant I have dined;

by everyone who welcomes me at any business; by my flight attendants and pilots;

and by just about everyone else.

When I respond, "Thank you. Merry Christmas!"

I often sense that I have actually created some tension.

Many of those I wish "Merry Christmas" are probably relieved to hear someone who feels

free to utter the "C" word, but all the sensitivity training they've had to undergo

creates cognitive dissonance.

The opponents of "Merry Christmas" and other uses of the word "Christmas"

know exactly what they're doing.

They're disingenuous when they dismiss defenders of "Merry Christmas" as fabricating some

"War on Christmas."

Of course it's a war on Christmas, or, more precisely, a war on the religious nature of America.

The left in America, like the left in Europe, wants to create a thoroughly secular society.

Not a secular government – which is a desirable goal, and which, in any event, has always

been the case in America – but a secular society.

Most people do not realize that the left believes in secularism as fervently as religious Jews

and Christians believe in the Bible.

That's why "Merry Christmas" bothers secular activists.

It's a blatant reminder of just how religious America is – and always has been.

So, here's a prediction: Activists on the left will eventually seek to remove Christmas

as a national holiday.

Now, the left doesn't announce that its agenda is to thoroughly secularize

American and European societies.

Instead, they offer the inclusiveness argument: that "Merry Christmas" or "Christmas party"

or "Christmas vacation" is not "inclusive."

This inclusiveness argument plays on Americans' highly developed sense of decency.

But the argument is preposterous: Who, exactly, is being excluded when one wishes someone

"Merry Christmas?" Non-Christians? I'm a non-Christian. I'm a Jew.

Christmas is not a religious holy day for me.

But I'm an American, and Christmas is a national holiday in my country.

It is, therefore, my holiday – though not my holy day – as much as it is for my fellow

Americans who are Christian.

That's why it's not surprising that it was an American Jew, Irving Berlin, who wrote

"White Christmas," one of America's most popular Christmas songs.

In fact, according to a Jewish musician writing in the New York Times, "Almost all the most

popular Christmas songs were written by Jews."

Apparently all these American Jews felt quite included by Christmas!

By not wishing me a Merry Christmas, you are not being inclusive.

You are excluding me from one of my nation's national holidays.

But even if Christmas were not a national holiday, I would want pilots to wish their

passengers "Merry Christmas," companies to have Christmas parties,

and schools to continue to have Christmas vacations.

Just because I don't personally celebrate Christmas, why would I want to drop the word

"Christmas" when the holiday is celebrated by 90 percent of my fellow Americans?

It borders on the misanthropic, not to mention the mean-spirited, to want to deny nearly

all of your fellow citizens the joy of having Christmas parties or being wished a "Merry Christmas."

The vast majority of Americans who celebrate Christmas, and who treat non-Christians

so well, deserve better.

So, please say "Merry Christmas" and "Christmas party" and "Christmas vacation."

If you don't, you're not "inclusive."

You're hurtful.

When You Should Ask Your Ex To Be "Boyfriend/Girlfriend" Again - Duration: 6:54.

I'm a breakup coaching and relationship expert from Vancouver, Canada.

And in this video, I'm going to address a topic that gets asked all the time…and

it's the topic of when you should be asking your ex to be in a committed "boyfriend/girlfriend"

relationship again.

I see a ton of my clients make big mistakes when they're trying to get their ex back…

they use my Ex Factor Guide program and experience incredible success… but they jump the gun,

get too excited, and blow it with their ex because they asked for commitment too early.

If you've read my Ex Factor Guide, you'd know that actions such as this lead to a tremendous

loss of attraction… so this mistake needs to be avoided at all costs.

So when is an appropriate time to bring this up to your ex?

Well, this topic is for people out there who are very far along in getting their ex back

– they've engaged in No Contact for an extended period of time, they've used several

psychological triggers and hints on their ex to get him or her to start wanting to see

you again, and they've met with their ex several times.

So in short, this video is for people who are following my Ex Factor Guide outline and

experiencing the success that so many other people have had.

So how should you go about in doing this?

Should you simply just pop the question to your ex boyfriend or girlfriend when things

are going well?

The answer is no.

In fact, the most powerful way to build attraction and force commitment from your ex is to actually

get him or her to ask you.

So how do you do that?

Well, you do it by being covert and mysterious.

See, you need to let your ex know that you're not sure whether to get back together with

them or not.

I know I know, deep down inside I know you absolutely WANT your ex back, but if you pour

your heart out too soon and tell them this right off the bat, you risk blowing it and

making him or her run for the hills.

What you need to do is act a bit elusive so that your ex begins to chase you even HARDER…

and at that point, it'll only be a matter of time before he or she is bending over backwards

to make you theirs again.

Sound good?

So what are some ways you can act mysterious and elusive?

Here are a few tips…

#1.)

Subtly say that you aren't too sure what's in store for you two – the most obvious

way to be mysterious is to say that you're on the fence about the whole relationship.

If your ex KNEW you wanted to get back together right away, the chase, the spark, and the

attraction will disappear and you'll be left starting back where you started.

So just because you're so close to winning your ex back doesn't mean you need to tell

your ex how you really feel yet… instead, say something like…

"I've really enjoyed the time we've spent together recently… but I'm still

not really sure what's in it for us in the future."

Or maybe something like…

"This feels like we're back together, doesn't it?

Too bad we aren't…"

And just leave it as that.

If your ex engages you and asks you what you mean or how you feel, be elusive and change

the subject.

If your ex asks you if you want to be in a committed relationship again, don't answer

right away.

Let your ex continue to chase you until he or she brings up the topic of commitment on

their own.

#2.)

Act like someone else is chasing you HARD… but be a little cryptic about it.

Whether it's true or not, you need to convey to your ex that you're a hot commodity and

that everyone's trying to get a piece of you.

Of course, you need to do this subtly otherwise you ex will know you're just trying to make

him or her jealous.

#3.)

Act "hot and cold" with your ex.

If things have been going really well with your ex, you'll want to mix it up a little

bit and pull away every now and then.

I know I know, this may seem like you're playing games or being disingenuous, but if you really

want your ex to feel a long and lasting attraction for you, you need to use these psychological

tactics.

So playing hot and cold means that one minute you're super into your ex, you're being nice,

affectionate, and attentive, and then all of a sudden, for no apparent reason you act

cold and distant.

This does two things.

One, it creates a dynamic where your ex begins chasing YOU down.

I mean, picture how you felt when you were chasing your ex…

I bet the more he or she pulled away from you, the more you felt compelled to chase

you, right?

And the more your ex sent you mixed signals, the more you obsessed over trying to seek

his or her approval.

So what you're doing now is reversing the roles and making your ex chase you down.

It'll only be a matter of days before he or she breaks down and asks you about commitment.

VSB Chicken Coop Door Opener REPAIR / UPGRADE - Duration: 11:20.

My Chicken coop door opener was broken

This is a PCB from VSB, AXT Elektronics in Germany

It's a great prduct, mechanically very well constructed

But it was broken

and instead of repairing I decided to make an Arduino control so I now only use the reed switches for

detection of the opening and closing and the motor, so the mechanical part.

I use six wires: 2 for the door open reed switch, for the door close reed switch and 2 for the motor; all going to the Arduino

I did'nt feel like making a dedicated pcb... I have two of these door openers and I will upgrade the other one also.

This is an Arduino Uno

a motor driver

this is for sensitivity adjustment of the light sensor

and of course you should place the light sensor externally...

BTW I placed the motor drive on headers so if something happens with it, replacement is easy

these two DIP switches are for activating or deactivating the light sensor

so you can decide to open the door by sunrise and close the door by the remote switch controlled by for example your Domotica system

or vice versa, so that is controlled by these two DIP switches

These have no function

This LED indicated we have daylight now

As we see later, if I cover the light sensor, the door will close

this LED is the remote switch indicator

if the remote switch is open, the door will go UP

if there's a problem with the remote switch the chicken can go out. you can reverse this...

so if you disconnect this wire the LED goes on and the door will open

these two LED's indicate the motor control via the motor driver and can be left out if you want

but the more LED's the merrier so...

LED D13 on the Arduino PCB which you also can mount externally, will go on when a door jam is detected

so if the door goes down and get's jammed, the door goes up again

then the system will try closing the door again and after 3 failed attempts the system will freeze

and this red LED will blink fast as we see later

this is an external control, which the original system didn't have

if you get up before the system will open the door, in our case 9AM, you can manually open it

you can see here the motor control is working

and the door is opening until this reed switch is activated and the motor stops

i purposely added these LED's so I can see if the door is open or closed from a distance

closing the door, the motor is activated

until the tension is released from the wire, very ingenious done

and the reed switch is activated

How to Earn Order of St. Christopher - Battlefield 1 - Duration: 4:25.

Hey guys, this is Eidolon Mirage with some Battlefield 1 gameplay on PS4.

Today, we're earning a medal called Order of St. Christopher, with an emphasis on the

support class.

The first objective is to get 20 kills.

I start out with the Lewis Gun Optical and it's.. decent.

I got some good kills, but NONE of the support weapons are reliable in my opinion.

It just seems like enemies don't go down quick enough.

I mean, I counted 6 hit markers on this guy and got an assist counts as kill.

Sometimes they go down quicker, but that's what I mean by unreliable.

It's also almost mandatory to go prone to have decent accuracy.

Keep in mind though, this is 20 kills AS support, so get creative with mortars or the limpet

charge to rack 'em up.

The second objective is to get 15 suppression assists.

This type of goal is tough, because it's an indirect way of helping your team.

It essentially means that you need to miss a whole bunch of shots and not kill people.

I think DICE is just trying to teach us what suppression is.

If you don't know, every weapon in Battlefield (especially the support weapons) have a suppression

feature, where if you're being shot at, the screen goes fuzzy, and it makes your aiming

a little chaotic.

This is essentially what you're trying to do to the enemy while a teammate kills them.

I switched over to the Lewis Gun Suppressive because it has more ammo, and it's supposed

to have a more suppressive capability, and also because it's how you unlock the Chauchat

Low Weight in the new They Shall Not Pass DLC.

At first I tried not to kill anybody by shooting all around them.

This is a little ridiculous and not very fun.

I eventually gave in and just started killing people like normal.

This is what I'd recommend or else this objective can be extremely stressful.

It'll take some time, but I think it's the best way to accomplish this objective

without going insane.

Just stick to mostly medium and long range and be sure to spot the enemy so your team

knows to help out.

The third objective is to get 10 mortar kills.

I'm not a huge fan of mortars.

I'm using the High Explosive variant, and as far as I know, they only do 60 maximum

damage.

This means you need to hit the same guy twice to get the kill.

I believe the airburst mortar does the same damage to a little larger area, but it can't

damage armor like the HE shell can.

Mortars are decent for protecting an objective on Rush or to clear out an area before you

move in.

If you have a teammate on comms, you can coordinate a mortar strike to the same area, and I'm

sure that would be devastating.

With that being said, most people just run it solo like I did here, and it's not the

most effective.

You pretty much need to hit an already wounded enemy to get a kill, because hitting the same

guy twice is pretty difficult, especially if they have any ounce of awareness and move

after the first strike.

The fourth objective is to perform 20 resupplies.

I'm using the Ammo Pouch today so I can chuck 'em at people without them even knowing.

It's probably the easiest way to get this medal, but these small bags don't resupply

grenades.

Use the big bag for that, but players need to actively search for it and stand around

it to get resupplied.

If you're playing Support, make sure you resupply as much as possible.

I forget sometimes and everyone's guilty, but it's extremely helpful to keep people

topped off on equipment and gadgets.

It helps your team tremendously and gives you points so just keep it in mind.

One thing I learned is that you should throw down a couple bags before you enter your mortar.

That way, players can just run by and grab one without you needing to stop.

The final objective is to get 5 kills in one life.

We're playing Frontlines and it's a linear game mode kind of like Rush.

This allowed me to set up and mainly focus on one general direction.

Since I knew where the enemy was coming from, I just played it safe behind this wall and

deployed my bipod for better accuracy.

I almost had 5 in a matter of seconds but got robbed on this last Medic kill.

I had to rush forward for this fifth kill, and it was little nerve-wracking, but I got

it done and earned Order of St. Christopher.

The support class isn't my favorite by any means, but it's good to switch it up and

try new things like the mortar.

A Federal Judge Just BACKED Donald Trump's travel ban!

U.S. District Court Judge Anthony Trenga ruled AGAINST left-wing Muslim activists from the

Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) and sided with our president!

In a 32-page opinion Trenga wrote,

" The substantive revisions reflected in [the second order] have reduced the probative

value of the President's statements to the point that it is no longer likely that Plaintiffs

can succeed on their claim that the predominate purpose of EO-2 is to discriminate against

Muslims based on their religion and that EO-2 is a pretext or a sham for that purpose,"

In other words, IT'S NOT A MUSLIM BAN!

The judge then went on to verify that Trump's past statements about Muslims have NOTHING

to do with his right as president to protect our country and can not be used in future

litigation.

"This Court is no longer faced with a facially discriminatory order coupled with contemporaneous

statements suggesting discriminatory intent," the judge said.

"And while the President and his advisors have continued to make statements following

the issuance of EO-1 that have characterized or anticipated the nature of EO-2, the Court

cannot conclude for the purposes of the Motion that these statements, together with the President's

past statements, have effectively disqualified him from exercising his lawful presidential

authority,"

President Trump has the Constitutional right to protect the American people and this Federal

judge just confirmed it.

Because of this ruling, opponents can no longer argue that Trump's executive order discriminates

on a religious basis.

In Soda That Can Make Your Family SICK There is arguably no beverage more American

than Coca-Cola, which is enjoyed by millions on a daily basis.

This is why it comes as a sickening surprise that an entire factory that fills the cans

was just shut down for 15 hours to clean up a mess in their facility that's rumored

to be caused by migrants who had unauthorized access to the containers.

According to the BBC, the horrifying issue that could make consumers very sick, wasn't

discovered until the night shift noticed something amiss during the can-filling portion of the

process.

The machines became "clogged" leading to an absolute nightmare of a cause of what

they were unintentionally filling their cans with.

The cans were being filled at the Lisburn, Ireland factory after the containers arrived

to the filling station from Germany.

It was reportedly the first time the cans, which typically come from other parts of the

U.K. had come from Germany.

This could play a part in why it was also the first time human fecal matter was found

in the cans, and some people have already begun to speculate how that could have happened.

Thankfully, the feces was caught before any of these cans of Coke went to market, which

led to the 15-hour factory closure to sanitize the place.

The Belfast Telegraph reports that the cans arrive at the plant without tops on, where

they are then filled with the drink before being sealed for sale across Northern Ireland.

Germany has become overwhelmed with migrants who routinely hitch rides on commercial trucks

that take them to other areas of the U.K., which led to a rumor about how the human waste

ended up in the cans.

"The rumor is that some poor immigrants could have made that long journey in the lorry

and that in their desperation were forced to use the cans instead of a toilet," a

source reportedly told the Telegraph.

"That's really shocking, and if the drink cans were to get out into shops then it could

be extremely dangerous for people," Alliance councilor Amanda Grehan explained to the Telegraph

in complete disbelief of this unsanitary situation.

While it's fortunate that this issue was caught ahead of time and no soda was sold

from this contaminated batch, it leaves one to wonder what could have "slipped" through

the system unknowingly before now.

A complete investigation into the matter is underway and it's only speculation at this

point that migrants using the cans as toilets was the cause, but if it was, then the issue

could be worse than we thought.

It's been awhile since Blac Chyna has put Tyga on blast.

But she changed that very early Wednesday morning when she posted a Snapchat story that

featured her taking a series of shots at her ex.

It wasn't immediately clear why Chyna chose today of all days to go in on Tyga.

But she referred to him as a "bitch" at one point and also referenced "child support"

and even mentioned Kylie Jenner's name.

that John Waule's mom? Who isn't on this

selection committee? Anyway, long story

short I may have just bragged about my

our relationship status of course.

His birthday dinner would be the most

spectacular event of the year.

My standards aren't that high, Fred, it just

takes a really extraordinary guy to live up

to them. And I think I've found one.

Gena/Finn Review - Duration: 7:25.

Hey everybody!

Welcome back to Tanner's Books and Beyond, here today with a review of Gena/Finn

by Hannah Moskowitz/Kat Helgeson.

Ooh, that - that glare is gonna get bad. Let's - oh, come on - ooh!

That's actually really nice! Kinda dig this better than the jacket!

Gena/Finn is a story about two girls (obviously named Gena and Finn).

They're both involved in the fandom of - well it doesn't really matter what they're in the

fandom of, all that matters is that they're very intensely involved in the fandom.

Gena likes to write fanfic and Finn likes to draw fanart.

They both have their own blogs, they both have their own little fandoms of themselves

within the greater scope of the fandom, and eventually near the start of the book they

start to message each other.

Gena writes a really good fanfic and Finn draws some fanart for it and she's like "hey

let me show you this thing" and Gena's like "oh wow it's so great!"

So your usual fandom stuff.

First off let me just say that if you are involved in fandom you will probably be able

to relate to this book.

I wouldn't say the fandom aspect is better or worse than Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell, I'd

say they're about the same.

I'd just say they deal with different aspects of fandom.

This one is very much about the friendship you can find within the fandom.

So as they message each other they start to learn about each other and we start to learn about them.

Gena is 18 years old and she's just going in to university.

She feels she is Way More Mature than all of her other friends because she's had to

deal with all this stuff, like her parents sort-of basically abandoning her; she used

to be a former child star (which she doesn't like to talk about); and she has a history

of mental illness which is never explicitly defined but she does throw out words like

"pseudo-schizophrenic symptoms".

Basically when she doesn't take her medicine she gets some paranoia, she gets some depression,

and she starts to hallucinate things being on fire, which can be kind of an issue.

On the other hand we have Finn, who has just finished college and she has just moved out

to California to live with her boyfriend of four years.

She's very much scared of growing up, she's trying really hard to hang on to that inner

child that she's managed to keep going since she finished high school, so she really doesn't

want to be looking for a job, she really doesn't know what to do with her relationship, especially

when she finds out that the guy might even want to propose to her.

Now even though their friendship starts to grow, relationship starts to effect their

offline lives and it gets to the point where Finn's boyfriend starts to think that she

might even be emotionally cheating on him; which Finn denies but it's kind of obvious

that that is pretty close to what's happening here.

They share everything with each other basically, and they go to conventions together over the

summer, and then Finn basically up and leaves to go visit Gena when Gena starts to feel

bad in the middle of her first semester at university.

Now I don't want to give away too many spoilers for this, but I will say that just before

the third act they get into a fight (which is normally what happens in these kind of

arcs) and then some shit goes down that kicks off the third act that causes them to really

examine what they've been doing with their lives, what they want out of their lives,

what they want out of each other, basically what they want out of this friendship, like

how is this connection helping them at all, is it even helping them?

Now I really loved this book, and while there are some iffy elements, on the whole it was

very well written.

Speaking of the writing, the format itself is quite interesting because it's basically an epistolary novel.

All of the text that we get in here is from tumblr posts of blog posts or tweets or texts

or emails or sticky notes attached to the fridge or poems written on the bottom of shoes,

anything but actual dialogue between two people.

Now I did really like that just because it was interesting, but there are some things

that kinda gave me pause, mainly a lot of segments take place with characters emailing

each other back and forth, and it's like - while it helps with the pacing and it helps get

everything out in large chunks instead of having to text each other back and forth,

who the heck sends so many emails?!

Like this is literally twenty emails being exchanged each day.

It's not even this huge thing but it just kept bugging me, like...I send maybe two emails...a

month! *giggles* I'm pretty sure the emails were introduced just so it would be easier

to write something similar that was similar to prose, essentially.

And speaking of prose there's also, in the third act, a lot of really large chunks written

in journals, so I feel like by that point Kat and Hannah were starting to get worn out

by trying to do all this stuff in the format of the emails and the texts and such and so

they wanted something that was a bit more traditional - a bit closer to traditional

prose and so that's why they did that.

It still works out very well, but reading that it kinda made me want to read more of

the book in just simple, well-written prose.

But those are just small potatoes and nitpicks compared to the grander themes of the story

that I really liked and some of the things that I wasn't super-fond of.

I mentioned this in my January Wrap-Up, this book has some queer content in it, but you

should not recommend it based off the queer content because it is very subtle.

There are some points were you could almost say it subtext, it's not even text.

There's nothing wrong with that, it does benefit the story in general but it's like - it's

kind of weird after reading so many queer books, and especially books written by Hannah

Moskowitz, where you get in there and it's just like AAAAWWWW THIS NARRATIVE IS BEING

SO QUEER ALL UP IN HERE!

WE'RE SPREADING RAINBOWS AND ACRONYMS ALL OVER THIS BUSINESS!

So to come into this book where one of the main conflicts is these two girls, they're

very close emotionally, but even in the book they refused to define what their relationship

is and so because things get to complicated in the book it does benefit the narrative

but also makes it complicated to define things in the story.

Now we can confirm that Gena is probably bisexual because while she has attractions to guys

in the narrative she also mentions how she has attractions to girls, so yeah she's definitely non-straight.

And then I would say Finn is also non-straight because while she never says anything about

feeling romantic attraction to Gena, there are parts later in the book where Gena starts

bonding with a guy and Finn starts to feel jealous because she's not solely emotionally

attached to Finn anymore.

Now related to that there is one thing I need to spoil that - it's not a huge thing but

if you don't want to get spoiled for it then maybe skip ahead a minute or so.

Anyways...I read some reviews on Goodreads and I've heard about others that there were

a lot of people who didn't like the fact that at the end of the story both Gena and Finn

end up romantically attached to male characters.

And, y'know, that's fine, that's great, but it's like - these people are complaining that

this is not the queer content they came here for.

Now I can sort of get where these people come from because if you came into this book being

told it was a queer book then you're going to expect the two girls to get together at the end.

Buuut, to call it things like saying it's a cop-out or even saying that it doesn't actually

contain queer content is going a bit to far and I would say verges into the biphobic.

Just because they clearly had Something going on with them doesn't mean they're not allowed

to also be attracted to other people and to genders other than just girls.

Anyways I just wanted to say that, I wanted to say that you shouldn't be coming in for

the queer content but you also shouldn't be the kind of person who says there's zero queer

content because there is some, it's just not what the book is about.

The book is really about Gena's mental health issues.

There's a lot of talk about how Gena's mental illness effected her as a child and how it's

effected the people around her and how it caused her to become the person she is today.

So I would certainly recommend it, but once again keep in mind I'm recommending this based

on the discussion on mental health and I'm not recommending it based on queerness.

The queerness is there it's just - I don't really want to call it a queer novel because

that's not what it's about.

I...god I feel like I keep sending mixed messages about this book.

It's a good book!

You should read it!

On the whole it is very...goodness! *awkward pause*

How to Setup Up OpenHAB 2 Configuration Files and Interface 2017 - Duration: 7:57.

Hey guys Matt here from MKSmartHouse.com and in this video I am going to show you the OpenHAB

2 Configuration files as well as how to set them up.

[Intro]

The configuration files make up the whole smart home and without them it would not work

because with these files we create the things, which connect to the items that we can use

in the sitemaps to then create rules for automation.

The statement that I just made is exactly how it works because there are 4 main configuration

files, things, items, sitemaps and rules.

To access all these files we have to ssh into the device so on windows open up putty and

on mac open up terminal, if you don't know how to ssh then you can refer to my setting

up the home automation server series that will be linked below or in a card at the top

right.

Speaking of links I recommend having the written guide on my website open so all you have to

do is copy and paste commands.

Anyway the folders for where we are going to create these files are located in the OpenHAB

2 folder so type in cd /etc/openhab2 and press enter.

To see all the folders in this folder type in ls and press enter.

As you can see there are many folders and they all do different things but the first

folder we are going to access is the things folder so type in cd things and press enter.

Then we are going to create the things file so type in sudo nano home.things and press

enter.

It should open an empty text document so make a comment type in //This is the Things file

then press control x then y and then enter.

Great we created our first configuration file.

Eventually we will populate this file with devices that require a thing declaration,

keep in mind that not all devices need it.

The next file we are going to create is the items file.

So type in cd..

And press enter to go back to the main folder.

Then type in cd items and press enter.

Then type in sudo nano home.items.

It should open up a text document.

The items file is where we are going to create or add all of our devices so they can be accessed

such as a light switch.

Type in //This is the Items File and press enter 2 times.

But, we are not done yet, I think this is a good time to show you one of the most important

types of items and that is the switch, it is not the only type of item, for a complete

list check out the documentation at docs.openhab.org.

Anyway the first item is a switch so first type in a comment explaining the next item

we will create for reference purposes I wrote //Demo items and pressed enter.

Then type in Switch DEMOSW "Demo Switch" and press enter, let me explain what we wrote,

the first part is the type of item, the second part is its name and the third part is its

label text, there are many more parts to an item such as its binding config but we will

get to that when we add an actual device.

Now press control x then y and enter.

Then type in cd..

And press enter To go back to the main folder.

Next type in cd sitemaps and press enter.

Then type in sudo nano home.sitemap and press enter.

It should open up a blank text document.

The sitemap file is how you interact with the devices or the user interface.

Then type in the following code segment:

sitemap home label="MK-SmartHouse" {

Frame label="Demo" {

Switch item=DEMOSW }

}

Then press control x then y and enter.

Now comes the fun part we are going to see what we created.

Keep your ssh window up because we will access it later.

Open up your web browser and go to the openhab web user interface.

If you don't know how to do that then look at my video on OpenHAB 2 web interfaces explanation

link in the card or in the description.

Then go to paper ui, in the left column go to configuration and then the services sub

tab.

Now we can configure the user interfaces, the first one is basic ui so click its configure

button, in the Default Sitemap field change whatever is there to home and press save.

Do the same thing to classic ui, click configure, change the sitemap to home and press save.

Great, now go back to the main web interface screen by typing in the ip address of the

pi again with :8080 and click on basic UI.

You should see a switch and the text demo switch.

It does not do anything but now you understand the process of creating it.

We can now also access classic ui and it will have the same information as basic ui it just

looks a little different.

Now let's go back to the ssh window and let me explain what each piece of code does.

Type in sudo nano home.sitemap and press enter.

The line sitemap home label="MK-SmartHouse" creates a label in the top.

Frame label="Demo" creates a new section or box in the interface with the name demo.

Switch item=DEMOSW Brings the switch item to user interface so we can control it.

Essentially you can keep creating more frames to organize your system, that is what I like

to do, I create a new frame for every room in the house that I will have smart devices.

Here is My Sitemap file I will be using if you do use it then delete everything you have

in your sitemap file and then paste it in it will be on my website.

Frame label="Demo" {

Switch item=DEMOSW }

Frame label="Information" {

Switch item=DEMOSW }

Frame label="Security" {

Switch item=DEMOSW }

Then press control x then y and enter.

I put the demo switch in every frame because a frame can not be empty and they are just

placeholders till we put in actual devices.

If you go back to the basic UI You can see how it all looks.

Now let's talk a little about the rules file.

This is the file that does all the automation and since it has so many different things

I will show you how to utilize in its own video once we add some devices but in this

video I will show you how to create the file.

So type in cd..

And press enter to go back to the main folder, then type in cd rules and press enter.

Then we are going to create the file by typing in sudo nano home.rules and press enter, it

should create a text document then type in //This is the rules file then press control

x then y and enter.

Type in sudo reboot and press enter to reboot the device, I always recommend rebooting after

making major changes like these.

That is it!

The configuration files are all setup.

Now we have the Automation server ready for devices to be added but, before we do that

the next two videos will cover how to setup remote access so you can access your smart

home from anywhere and control devices from anywhere.

Which perfectly leads into the video after that, setting up mobile devices to access

the home automation server from IOS and Android.
