Alabama Senate Runoff Polls: Roy Moore vs. Luther Strange

Luther Strange (l) and Roy Moore (r). Roy Moore, the controversial former Chief Justice who once defied an order to remove a Ten Commandments monument, is squaring off against the Donald Trump-endorsed incumbent, U.S. Sen.

Luther Strange, in an Alabama Republican primary runoff in the special election for the Jeff Sessions' Senate seat.

The September 26 runoff election is being painted in some corners as a referendum on the Deep South's support for Trump, and as a bellwether of the president's influence over Republican primary voters.

However, there are some odd elements to consider in this race:.

The Trump-endorsed incumbent, Strange, was also endorsed by Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, whom Trump has dogged with public criticism, and, in some ways, the bombastic, iconoclastic, and anti-establishment opponent, Roy Moore – who is leading in the polls by a lot – resembles Trump a lot more than the guy Trump endorsed.

GettySuspended Alabama Chief Justice Roy Moore speaks to parishoners at The Church of the Apostles September 7, 2003 in Atlanta, Georgia. Moore's Ten Commandments monument was recently removed from the Alabama Judicial Building in Montgomery, Alabama.

Furthermore, Strange was placed in the seat by a scandal-hobbled former governor in a way that engendered controversy back home, and he's ticked off some establishment Republicans over the years in Alabama.

All of that means that there may be enough peculiarities in this race that the results will be tough to extrapolate into a prediction of how other upcoming GOP primaries will go (new polling shows that Moore would dominate Democrat Doug Jones if he makes it to the general election; Strange would defeat Jones, but by less.

However, some Democrats see Moore's past controversies and comments as an open door for them to exploit.

What do the polls specifically say heading into election day in the closely watched Republican contest? The winner of Tuesday's runoff will compete in the general election against Jones.

The polls show Moore with a large lead over Strange.  The RealClearPolitics polling average shows Moore with a 10. 4 percentage point lead over Strange, as of September 25.

Moore has led in polling since August, but the margin has jumped in his favor in recent weeks. (You can see the specific polls later in this article.).

Although Trump has tossed support to Strange, polling has shown that those who approve of Trump make up the largest portion of Moore's supporters.

The same is true of Strange, though. After all, it's a GOP primary. The Optimus poll found that most people know that Trump endorsed Strange. FiveThirtyEight argues that the primary is a bellwether on Trump's ability to influence primary voters.

It's an unusual election, though, because Moore is, in many ways, running to the right of Strange (just on Thursday, Moore said "abortion, sodomy, sexual perversion sweep our land.

"Trump's endorsement of Strange never made a lot of sense from either a messaging or policy standpoint. Trump ran as an outsider," FiveThirtyEight noted.

"Strange is an incumbent U.S. senator backed by Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and the pro-McConnell Senate Leadership Fund.

He's the 'establishment' candidate. Strange's opponent Moore, on the other hand, is a lot more like Trump. Both Moore and Trump are populist politicians who have made a political career by running against the establishment.".

Mike Pence also stumped for Strange, but former White House strategist Steve Bannon was stumping for Moore, dividing conservative loyalties further. The president returned to Alabama for a rally in which he stressed that Strange was an ally on Obamacare repeal.

Trump, though, said he would "fight like hell" for Moore if Moore beats Strange in the primary runoff, according to CNN. Here's a round up of the latest polls in the primary:.

Moore 57% Strange 41%. Moore 55% Strange 45%.

Moore 50% Strange 40%. Moore 48% Strange 40%.

Fox 10/Strategy Research (9/20). Moore 54% Strange 46%.

Doug Kaplan, the managing partner of Gravis Marketing, which conducted one of the recent polls, stressed, "The dynamics can change if the undecideds break towards Strange. Then, there is the factor of how many show up.

It's illegal for Democrats to vote if they voted in the Democratic primary last month, so Strange has to get new Democratic voters, who did not vote in the primary to show up for him.

CNN reports that a Moore win could be a canary in the mine for other races, most notably primary fights in Nevada and Arizona.

Kaplan added, "Another factor working for Moore is his lead with both voters with a favorable opinion and unfavorable opinion of Trump.

Moore was the top vote getter on the Republican side in the Alabama Senate Special Election during an earlier primary but not by a big enough margin to avoid a runoff.

The seat was once occupied by Sessions, who left to become Trump's Attorney General. The president had gone all in, throwing his support to Strange in a state that favored him. There are other localized issues at play, though.

Moore's messaging mirrors that of Trump himself in November; underfunded compared to opponents, but beloved by some on the far right for his stances on the Ten Commandments and same-sex marriage, he has railed against Washington insiders on the campaign trail.

According to USA Today, "Strange and the McConnell-aligned Senate Leadership Fund (SLF) spent a combined $10 million on the campaign through Sept. 6, and even more in the weeks after. Moore's campaign spent just $1.1 million through early September.".

Moore already has high name ID in Alabama though, and he endeared himself to some on the right when he was removed as Alabama's chief justice in 2003 "for refusing to remove a monument to the Ten Commandments," reports FiveThirtyEight.

The Moore saga doesn't end there, though. After being removed as chief justice, he won reelection.

However, he was then "suspended for declining to enforce the 2015 U.S. Supreme Court decision that legalized same-sex marriages. After losing an appeal, he resigned in April," reports Politico.

Moore, a former prosecutor, judge, and military police officer in Vietnam, has a history of making controversial remarks.

According to Politico, he told The Guardian that Vladimir Putin is "maybe … more akin to me than I know" because Putin opposes gay marriage, and, of transgender troops, he said, "If we're going to file for hormone treatments and medical surgeries, that's not making your military stronger.

You've got to have a disciplined military.".

On the Democratic side, the race was always a bit of a Hail Mary; according to Five Thirty Eight, "No Democrat has won a Senate race in Alabama since 1992, and Trump won the state by 28 percentage points last November.

GettyAlabama Chief Justice Roy Moore leaves a rally in support of a monument of the Ten Commandments August 16, 2003 in Montgomery, Alabama. Adding another twist, turnout is expected to be low.

According to The New York Times, a low turnout would be good for Moore, many experts believe, because "his defiance has only endeared him to his supporters, who are highly likely to show up to vote in any contest where he appears on the ballot.

" Moore's support with Evangelicals also would help him in a low turnout race because they tend to turn out in greater numbers. Trump recorded a robocall for Strange before the earlier primary in addition to tweeting his support.

"He is helping me in the Senate and is going to get the tax cuts for us.

He's doing a lot of things for the people of Alabama and for the people of the United States," Trump said in the robocall, according to CNN.

There are also the localized concerns. Some observers say that Strange is struggling to hold onto the seat in part because he's had tense relationships with some in the Republican establishment in Alabama as well as dealing with continued fallout over the fact he was appointed to the seat by former Gov.

who was being investigated by the Alabama Attorney General's office at the time Strange was interviewed for the Senate post. Strange was the state's Attorney General at the time of his appointment to the Sessions' Senate seat.

4K Very Good and Cheap BBQ Restaurant and Restaurant Tips - Koh Pich, Phnom Penh, Cambodia - Duration: 5:12.

Hi guys,

This afternoon i want to show you

a Very good and cheap bbq restaurant

at Koh Pich, Riverside

and i have some useful tips for you

This is the walking street at Koh Pich (Diamon Island)

I'm just in front of the restaurants

It's 17.25, i arrived early for dinner for enjoying the view

as you see winter is coming. or maybe going :)

Restaurant staff trying to pick up customers as usual

here we go

This restaurant is cheaper than the restaurants at touristic riverside

Why? Because it's not touristic :)

at the end, i paid usd.20.- for a dinner for two. If i would have eaten at the other riverside, my bill would have been at least usd.40.-

First tip. Beef is served with some sweet sauce. It's not marinated. They add the sauce just before serving.

i just returned two of them and they will bring back without sauce.

It's not bad but i don't like sweet. I like my beef with salt and pepper only.

this is the boardwalk at koh pich. my next video will be about a long walk on the boardwalk

I'll show you khmer people's normal life.

ok. back to the subject. BBQ restaurant.

So, when you order , just tell them `no sauce`.

second tip. Around this area staff can not talk english.

just take a look to the menu (with pictures) and order by showing them the pictures. it's easy.

Check the menu first. If they don't have menu with photos, move to another restaurant.

Because all the menus here are in Khmer language. I'll show you the menu in this video.

3rd tip: when you order beer, they will bring you a six pack. Beers are mostly in 33cl bottles.

if you want to drink less than 6, don't return the beers.

At the end, and they will charge you only for the bottles you opened and they will take back the others. 29 00:03:07,120 --> 00:03:12,240 If they don't serve the beers in a plastic bowl with ice, ask for it.

if they don't understand, google it. find a ice photo and show them, they will understand :)

This is the menu.

I wrote down what it is , because the menu was old and maybe you can not understand what is on the plate.

there is one more menu photo

here it is

now it's 7pm. the restaurant is busy

Another tip. It's better to come here before sunset.

before 6pm, they have enough empty tables, so you can choose

it's always better choose tables at the front, for a better view

the tables at the back can be noisy sometimes.

If you have any questions, you can ask it in the comments section.

if you like the video, please subscribe and like.

Thank you for watching, keep in touch for next videos.

Moonpig: A Hogumentary - Duration: 1:55.

I've been the face of Moonpig

since the beginning, it's been a blast.

I've loved being a star

I've helped with 60 million birthday celebrations, 13 million Christmases,

making people's day brilliant with cards and gifts and flowers.

But after 17 years as the face, the main pig, it was time to come back down to earth.

I'll miss the team, but it's time for a change.

I've even given them a few ideas on how to replace me.

Of course there are going to be some sad faces and tears shed.

It's the end of an era.

But...it's also the start of something new and exciting.

I might be stepping out of the limelight a little.

But when you're the face, everyone still loves you.

Well...almost everyone.

Truth is, there's a lot of opportunity out there for a famous pig.

It's ok, but all I really want to do

is to make someone's day brilliant again.

And now I can,

Doctor, 35, Dies From Overwork After Covering Colleagues' Shifts - Duration: 3:38.

OUR WEBSITE : http://justhealthrelated.com/

Doctor, 35, Dies From Overwork After Covering Colleagues' Shifts

The sudden death of a 35-year-old anesthesiologist, Dr. Stefanus Taofik of Indonesia, raised the

awareness of the severe side-effects of sleep deprivation many people often ignore.

Namely, his death in June of 2017 was due to a heart failure, after he spent 4 consecutive

days working at multiple hospitals during Eid al-Fitr.

He volunteered to take on extra shifts at his own hospital, Bintaro Jaya Hospital, but

in order to help his colleagues to celebrate the holiday, he also volunteered additional

time at 2 separate hospitals to help cover the shifts.

After the four days, he was found dead in a hospital ward.

His death came as a result of his extreme determination to help his colleagues and patients.

Yet, from a scientific point of view, his death as caused by the extreme sleep deprivation,

which altered his cardiovascular functions, including heart rate and blood pressure, which

led to an altered hormonal stress response, and significantly increased the risk of a

cardiovascular event.

Heart failure is not a disease, in fact, it is a diverse set of problems; which can occur

quickly, or over a very long period of time.

In general, it is the loss of ability of the heart to pump the needed amounts of blood

by the body.

It might be a result of narrowed heart valves, thinning or weakening of the muscles, improper

closing of the heart valves, or loss of elasticity in heart muscles.

Therefore, in all likelihood, the heart failure of Dr. Dao Fei came as a result of an unhealthy

set of factors, such as his chronic sleep deprivation.

Unfortunately, numerous people lack proper rest and sleep these days, and the risks of

being overworked are severe.

The findings of a 2010 research study led by Anoop Shankar, Shirmila Syamala, and Sita

Kalidindi of West Virginia University School of Medicine, indicate that insufficient sleep

leads to an increased risk of diabetes, obesity, cardiovascular disease, and stroke.

Researchers found that the less rest participants got, the higher their risk of stroke, heart

disease, diabetes, and obesity.

There is no doubt that chronic sleep deprivation poses serious health risks, but even short-term

sleep deprivation negatively affects health.

According to the National Lung, Heart, and Blood Institute:

"As part of a health survey for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, about

7–19 percent of adults in the United States reported not getting enough rest or sleep

every day.

Nearly 40 percent of adults report falling asleep during the day without meaning to at

least once a month.

Also, an estimated 50 to 70 million Americans have chronic (ongoing) sleep disorders."

Therefore, it is of high importance to make sure you are getting the needed sleep every

single day.

These are the most common signs of sleep deprivation:

-Trouble focusing -Muscle fatigue or muscle pain

-Constantly feeling sleepy -Slow reaction times

-Unexplained mood swings

The lack of proper rest always takes its toll, so make sure you get the needed sleep and

thus avoid serious health risks.

Being Entrepreneurial if You Don't Go to Advertising Portfolio School w/ Pam Fujimoto | We Are Next - Duration: 1:57.

They're much more self-motivated than the average person in that situation.

Almost entrepreneur-like.

And they really have to just go at every opportunity.

I mean, anyone does, honestly.

This is not an easy profession to do well in, so I think this is not just advice for

people that don't go to a school.

You have to go into everything like your life depends on it.

Don't waste any moment of that internship, even if what you're being given straight out

of the gate is not something that is able to fully showcase your creativity.

Because every impression is an important one that you make.

I think that thing about being self-driven, so much of it is no matter what you can get

your hands on, whether it's in an internship, or with school, or outside of school on your

own, it's that proactiveness that says so much.

That you went out and found opportunities like you said to create something.

I'm not saying the quality of whatever you make doesn't matter, but it speaks so loudly.

It does, and honestly, if I see somebody that doesn't have the portfolio school training,

and is able to prove to me how much they've done on their own to be able to make up for

that, that person stands above someone that's gone to portfolio school and has the same

book.

Because I know that there's qualities—especially if they can tell me some examples

or personal stories around how they've gotten to where they are, because that's very interesting

to me.

I understand what the classes are that you take, and the support you're given when you

going through a regular school.

But when you don't have that, you then all of a sudden become much more valuable to me

in terms of all those other traits that then will make you a successful employee.

Don't Squeeze the Hamster w/ Pam Fujimoto | We Are Next - Duration: 1:37.

I think there's a good sort of soundbite from Tracy Wong for this one.

He likes to say, "Don't squeeze the hamster," which sounds bad kind of, but

what he means by that is don't love your idea so much it dies, basically.

Don't hold your ideas so tight with your ego and yourself that you're

not giving it any air, any perspective, any place for it to grow. Because I think

as creatives and as young folks coming into the industry, it's easy

to think that if I can just keep, if I could just

keep this idea exactly as it is when it was born from my mind, it will it

will be the best version of itself. But it takes a certain level of

confidence, and openness, and flexibility in how you approach a concept

to let in other perspectives and share that ownership with other

people as well. And know that that can be a better thing for the life of an idea.

So I think that sometimes takes time and sometimes will work against people's

tendencies. That's not to say that you shouldn't know what makes

your idea great, and to have a—conviction—yeah, about

about where that still comes from. But to not sort of listen to

other perspectives, and to allow for input to help it become better

I think is a mistake.

(News)Woman's embarrassing newborn photo - Duration: 3:56.

Everyone loves sharing the happy news online, but you should think twice about posting a photo.

Woman's embarrassing newborn photo

Whether you're the mother or part of her circle of extended family and friends, you've had nine months of anticipation and you just can't wait to meet the little one. You snap a photo and prepare to share the happy news online.

However, this woman learnt the hard way it's always worth taking a second look before you actually hit "post". At first glance, the picture looks like an innocent snap of a newborn being held proudly by a woman in the delivery room.

She's taken a selfie while dressed in scrubs and holding a freshly minted child who appears to have been born only minutes before. There's just one minor, teensy little detail she overlooked in the background.

(OK, so the image below is pretty confronting — brace yourself and keep scrolling only if you think you can deal with the full picture. Can you see what's wrong with this photo?Source:Reddit.

Yup, the child's mother is lying in the background, legs wide open. She's clearly exhausted from giving birth — presumably, her baby was whisked away for the photo almost immediately after its first lungful of air.

The image is now going viral after being posted on the Bubs Warehouse International Facebook page last week, it's resonating with many mums around the world. Amanda Wickins wrote: "Hahahahahaha this happened to me with my son.

"My mum did the picture of my son on the weighing table thingy all focused on him not realising and put it on Facebook without realising. Yep I was in the photo.".

The same thing had happened to Ariana Brooks, who added: "This actually was my mum she got camera happy in the delivery room beautiful newborn baby and completely forgetting my (va)gina was out.

"Thankfully it didn't make (Facebook) it did get printed at the photographers though". While Monique Louise revealed her partner Marty had taken a picture and sent it to his dad, "not realising I was being stitched up in the background".

But some of the commenters were much more shocked. Trez Webber asked: "Why is no one there supporting the mother? And her Bub taken so far away from her. No wonder the kid is screaming.

"Still a funny thought of it going up on SM (social media) though". And Carina Lawless added: "OMG. she would have been horrified!". - with The Sun. kirrily. schwarz@news. com.

(News)Can you pass the world's shortest IQ test? - Duration: 3:03.

Can you pass the world's shortest IQ test?

The Cognitive Reflection Test has been hailed as the world's shortest IQ test as it features just three questions, The Sun reports.

Each one is designed to assess your abilities to identify a simple problem that might actually be harder than it first appears.

Not only do experts claim that getting the right answer is a sign of genius, but also the time frame in which you come up with your solution. TAKE THE WORLD'S SHORTEST IQ TEST.

A bat and a ball cost $1.10 in total. The bat costs $100 more than the ball. How much does the ball cost?.

If it takes five machines five minutes to make five widgets, how long would it take 100 machines to make 100 widgets?. In a lake, there is a patch of lily pads. Every day, the patch doubles in size.

If it takes 48 days for the patch to cover the entire lake, how long would it take for the patch to cover half of the lake?.

ANSWERS. Now you've had a crack at the questions, the chances are you answered 10 cents for question one, 100 minutes for question two and 24 days for question three.

If you did, you are wrong. Scroll down to see the correct answers to the test, and the workings behind each one.

The ball would actually cost five cents. If the bat costs $1 more than the bat, you need to think outside the box.

While it might be easy to assume that the ball is 10 cents, that would make the bat $1. 10 as it costs $1 MORE than the ball.

In order to keep the total at $1. 10, the ball HAS to be five cents — and the bat is worth $105.

It would take five minutes to make 100 widgets. Five machines can make five widgets in five minutes. This means that one machine will make a widget in five minutes, too.

Therefore, 100 machines all making widgets can make 100 widgets in five minutes. It would take 47 days for the patch to cover half of the lake.

The patch is doubling in size each day it is going forward, so it would halve going backwards. This means that on day 47, the day before it covered the whole lake, it would be halfway there.
