Hello People!
What's up partners? How are you? How's it going over on that side?
I'm Maddu Magalhaes,
and I'm here today with an open heart
to use this channel, which in some way ends up connecting me and you, who are over on that side,
to honestly, truly, invite you to stop and think a little about things, you know?
To stop and think about everything.
Why, after all, do we live this rollercoaster of feelings every single day?
What happens to us that it seems there's always something missing, have you noticed that?
How does our mind work and why can't we ever feel completely happy?
I don't know if you know this, but it's been a year and a half since I've begun studying a lot, a real lot, about the human mind.
I dove headfirst into studying this, 'cause I decided I wouldn't spend my life in this rat race anymore.
Without knowing where I came from, where I'm going, and what's the meaning of all this.
And with everything I've studied and have been applying on my daily routine,
my life has changed a lot, so I can't help but to share with you
every step of these understandings, you know? everything I see every day,
for those willing to change as well, and expand their own view on life.
So, I'm gonna start making several videos here on the channel, talking about all of that.
How to train your mind to begin changing the way you perceive things,
your actual mental programming.
And that ends up changing your feelings, everything you feel on your day by day.
In the end, it's all so we can feel more happy and make a much happier reality,
for you, for me and for everyone.
Well, I'm not going to extend that much on this introduction,
but I need to share with you
that I confess that I was a bit discouraged to open this playlist and talk right off about all these things that I've been studying.
But today, this October 11th, YouTube Creators for Change, and One.org, invited me
to talk to you about a matter that's made me brave enough to start this whole thing.
They invited me to talk about a global campaign called "Girls Count".
And the goal of this campaign is to raise global awareness, public awareness,
and get the attention of political leaders, to the fact that we still have
130 million girls, all over the planet, without any access to education.
130 millions girls who live in a kind of a parallel reality,
completely different from mine or yours.
But, Maddu, what does that have to do with what you were talking about?
You said you were gonna talk about my inner feelings,
about training our minds, and now you're talking about global inequalities?
What the fuck? Hold on partner,
I know, I know it seems this has nothing to do with that.
But let's go together and you'll understand
how much your thoughts, from your day by day, and your inner conflicts,
that roller coaster of feelings you experience everyday,
has to do with everything that happens,
in the whole movie, even on the other side of the planet.
We need to understand how important it is to start training our mind,
and completely flip the switch of our mental programming,
so that the scenes from our personal script,
and the ones from the movie of the whole planet, can be happier.
At the end of the video, I'll be telling you more about the campaign that I was invited to by YouTube and One.org to talk about.
But before that, I think we need to stop and really question ourselves.
Seriously. Really. What's wrong with the whole [picture]?
Where's the root of so much conflict,
so many inequalities, and absurdities we see in the world?
Scenarios like those 130 million girls and so many other cases that happen in the world.
What's the relation between all the crappy thoughts we have,
the confusion in our inner feelings, and the disorder we see in the world?
What can you, effectively, do, in your mind, to improve the life of everyone?
Come with me, one thing at a time.
We'll understand something here, something over there, and afterwards we put everything together
and in order, so it'll be very easy to understand. I promise.
We're very used to criticize everything, you know?
We look, we point fingers, and say the other person is wrong,
that thing is wrong, say, whatever,
the world is all screwed up anyway.
And I'm just a person, I'm just one person,
What difference does it make if I try to change anything?
What can that do, what impact could it have on the harsh reality of the world?
We think like that.
But, partner, can we be serious?
as long as we continue to believe that what happens in our minds everyday,
our thoughts, and our inner feelings, are unrelated and have no effect on the world,
the conflicts, indeed, will never go away.
So, partner, if there's anything I can ask of you is, come with me,
stay 'till the end of the video,
'cause I really, really, want to show you some things, you know?
To try and get you in touch with things you may not know yet,
which can make you look at life in a completely different way.
Come with me, let's do it, let's go together.
Quantum physics, for example, was an idea that made understand this whole thing better,
how things work.
Quantum physics experiments have already shown that, somehow, our whole scenario
is composed by our thoughts.
Somehow, it's our thoughts that project what we call "our reality",
Each person projects their own scenario,
their opportunities,
or lack of opportunities,
according to what that person thinks about himself.
Depending on what you're thinking,
your agenda of mental scenarios is being projected, get it?
You're the film director, partner.
You choose what you're gonna feel, think,
and you can sit still, 'cause compatible scenes will come to you.
And you don't need to go that far or study quantum physics,
to get hold of all of this, you know?
You can actually see it on your day,
on your own day by day, that things really work that way.
Watching very silly things, for example,
have you noticed that you just have to wake up in a bad mood,
to wake up feeling anger, felling anxiety,
and things start to go wrong, one after another?
every time you invest in starting your day pissed off about something,
those conflictive scenes will come to you.
You argue with someone at work,
you get some bad news,
the bus won't stop for you...
Who's never felt that, right?
You end up living a sequence of scenes that give you every reason to keep pissed off. To get even more pissed off at life.
Who's never noticed that? Have you never noticed that?
The fact is, you can in fact observe that it is what we think that projects our scenario.
We need to stop doubting this.
We need to start keeping watch on what we think.
How we feel.
And most of all, our inner feelings.
And finally realize what's inside our mind,
And that's been projecting things the way they have been,
We need to stop to really observe how much all of us,
in some way, nurture ideas of difference in our mind.
For example, you can observe,
how much we feel bigger or smaller than others,
everyday.
A very good exercise to understand this,
is to take a look at your Instagram feed.
All you have to do is open your feed, take a look,
and that roller coaster of inner feelings starts again.
One day, I was looking at my feed, and I swear, I got scared,
'cause I noticed how many unsettling things I felt inside looking at my picture feed.
It's very sincere and even a relief to talk about this, 'cause I think everybody feels that.
We feel very bad comparing ourselves to others all the time.
And every time we feel worse, or better, than someone,
we are nurturing that idea of difference in our mind.
That differences exist and are real.
And it's that feeling we get when we look at someone else and feel bigger or smaller,
that projects more and more scenes so that we continue to see this difference in the world. Get it?
Any time any of us feels any kind of difference,
be it rejection, injustice, anger,
about anything that's happening to someone else,
even if it's for very silly reasons,
we are projecting, together, an infinite loop of the same thing.
Over and over again.
So, partner. It IS indeed our purpose to join hands and go together,
to eliminate once and for all the differences in our lives and around the whole planet.
To train your mind to stop that roller coaster
of feeling superior or inferior all the time.
It's the best caring exercise we can do to ourselves,
and for the whole planet.
That's what can change our inner feelings so we can be happier.
We need to understand that.
And then, you might think again:
What difference do I make? I'm just John, Mary, Joseph...
One little person changing their mind in this whole planet, what difference will it make?
Actually? In reality?
Yeah, partner, but that's where we're wrong, actually.
There's a number of scientific experiments that has already shown,
clearly, the impact of a behavioral change in just one individual in our whole society.
Have you ever heard, for example, the theory of the 100th monkey?
I'm gonna try to explain this phenomenon in a very succinct way,
if you wanna know more, you can google it to have a more theoretical base.
But basically, the history of the phenomenon is as follows:
Scientists observed a monkey population on an isolated island,
and they began to teach a single monkey
to wash it's potatoes in the sea, before eating them.
The monkeys used to dig them from the ground and eat them full of dirt, just like that,
and so they taught that monkey to wash the potatoes,
and he found out it was very tasty,
'cause besides becoming clean, they also became salty.
He started doing this everyday.
Every time this monkey was going to eat,
he washed his potatoes before eating.
Soon, the other monkeys began watching him,
they began to see that his way was better than what they were doing,
and they also started to do it!
One monkey taught the next.
And that's the main point.
When this practice got to the 100th monkey,
when the 100th monkey began to do the same thing,
adhering to that same idea,
other monkeys, in other locations around the planet,
started, out of nowhere, doing the same thing.
Monkeys from other islands began to wash their potatoes,
even without any physical contact with the monkeys from the island where the experiment was being conducted. Get it?
I really don't recall this theory's name,
but you can search and you will find a lot on these experiments that conclude that
it just takes an amount of individuals from one species adhering to an idea.
That adherence provides a conscious leap for other individuals from the same species. Get it?
That's really crazy, I think that's very crazy. Really.
In our case, the parallel to learning how to wash the potatoes, would be
learning to stop the roller coaster of comparisons.
It's enough that a reduced number of people exercise this a lot,
to flip this switch in humanity as a whole.
We can be a part of it, partner.
So, from now on, even when I'm looking at the world
and it seem some have more opportunities than others,
It's a result of that which each person thinks.
You need to start looking at other people's achievements,
as if they were yours.
With gratitude.
Being happy when something nice happens to someone else.
When you change that in your mind,
you start to accept and allow
that scenes compatible to that, happen to you as well, you know?
And in that same way, look at the others who seem not to have
the same opportunities as you,
without feeling any kind of pity or sadness inside you.
The exercise we can do is
look at those who seem to have less opportunities than us and see them as equals.
We can't feel any difference, get it?
We all are equals and have the same potentials.
The effective solution for us to really change the scenario of those who seem to have less opportunities today,
is for us to invest in the idea of equality in our mind.
If you want to begin training these mental changes,
start by noticing how much you were conditioned to like one thing and not another.
To think something is cool, and that something else isn't so cool.
We are too bound, 'cause we have learned things have sizes,
and that some things are better or worse.
We need to look at things and stop judging them, you know?
We need to allow ourselves to be at peace, 'cause we don't like the things we feel when we judge. Have you noticed that?
When you train this movement of halting your judgement of things,
you have no idea of what happens to your inner feelings.
It seems like we start getting filled by something that feels really nice.
You need to train that. We need to shut up that mental programming,
that keeps telling us to reject, or to feel rejected by things, you know?
Train seeing everything as the same, to see everyone as equals,
'Cause that brings back the feeling of touch with our own essence,
So, from now on, whenever you feel something weird in any scenario,
be it for someone else or for yourself, which is rather common,
flip that switch and think: "I don't want to feel that anymore."
"I don't want to feel that anymore. I'm free not to!"
I don't want to feel envious of things,
I don't want to feel angry about things,
I don't want to reject anything anymore.
It's a pains in the ass to feel such things. No one likes to feel that.
Our mind has just been conditioned in a way that makes us want to invest in those feelings,
but we are free to break that loop.
Each one that adheres to this new way of thinking,
causes a gigantic effect on the planet.
And from that effect, it's going to be a lot easier for all global movements,
for all the projects engaged in doing something for the planet, really getting hands-on,
to start working much more fluidly.
Cause the mind, as a whole, begins to accept the idea of equality,
which in turn projects an equally happier scenario for everyone.
A beautiful quantum leap for all of mankind.
We need to reestablish the awareness that everyone is full and absolutely abundant.
It's just ideas in our mind that keep projecting different scenarios.
It's by changing ideas that we change the design of the whole scenario.
We need to start by getting rid of any feelings of difference,
between men and women, between the rich and poor, between races,
any sensation of difference that we may have inside of us.
And everyday you have millions of opportunities for you to begin training
giving up on all judgments.
Try to, on any scene, at any time you feel something weird, just stop.
Remember you don't want to feel that anymore.
Remember that if you board those feelings, you are, in no way,
contributing to the agenda of happy scenes you want to see tomorrow.
Now wait. Let's put everything together.
Going back to the invitation I got from YouTube and One.org to talk about the "Girls Count" campaign.
To get the people's and political leaders' attention,
so that they invest on the improvement of the conditions and accessibility
of those 130 millions girls who still have no access to education.
The idea is to gather 130 million people, each one goes on the campaign's website,
choose an available number to represent each one of those girls,
and record a video or send a photo counting that number.
For example, if you choose 11,500, you go there and make your video,
"11,500" and send it to the campaign, get it?
Then, they are going to gather all of that material,
and are going to make the longest video of all time,
I think is gonna be the longest video of all time,
130 million people is a lot of people.
They are going to gather all that material to try and get the attention of political leaders,
so they can take effective measures,
and invest on the improvement of the girls' access [to education].
So, we can totally join each other on that purpose, to engage on the campaign,
and also begin training the mental changes we can make to help them.
By identifying in our mind ideas that we practice on our day by day,
and that could somehow be contributing to maintaining that kind of inequality in our global scenario.
I find it easier if we try to look at this as if it were mathematics.
Stop and think: What kind of ideas can be involved in a scenario
where girls live in a reality of extreme poverty,
and have no access to education?
For example, lets take two ideas involved on that matter of inequality.
Inequality between men and women.
After all, there are more girls with no access to education than boys. And socioeconomic difference.
We could make a bigger list of the involved ideas, but
in this case we are going to take these two ideas.
How much can you and I practice giving up on the feeling that difference between men and women exist?
How much do we really need to stop believing in it, and see the two genres as equal?
To help our scenario to project equal opportunities for both genres.
How much can you train giving up on looking for social differences,
And believing in them? And judging things from them?
When any scene happens, on your day by day, that connects to that feeling,
that there's difference in value between those who have a higher or lower social condition,
each time you find yourself better or worse than someone, in any way,
because of things related to financial status,
that's not true. That's a lie we tell. Remember, partner,
you don't want to nurture that kind of feeling anymore.
Because in fact, we are all equal.
Anyhow, I said an actual lot, right?
I talked a lot, on this video,
but I hope I have managed, somehow, to communicate with you,
and that you recognize your importance in this whole context,
you are very important.
And that you really put yourself in starting those changes
for your happiness and everyone's happiness.
So, take your part as well on the "Girls Count" campaign,
enter the website, choose your number,
and when you record your video representing one of those girls,
give all of your heart to them, certain that they deserve
all the abundance that you also deserve.
Record your videos feeling like that, 'cause we can contribute a lot for the success of this campaign.
So that the flow of these movements work in a much more effective way.
And guys, thanks a bunch,
