Subject Verb Agreement | English Grammar Lesson | Fix Common Mistakes - Duration: 13:38.

Hello, I'm Emma from mmmEnglish!

One of the most common grammar mistakes

that English learners make

is to do with the subject verb agreement.

What's that?

It's as simple as it sounds!

The subject and the verb in English sentences

must agree.

They must match.

We go to the beach on Saturdays.

If the subject is plural,

you need to use a plural verb form.

He goes to the beach on Saturdays.

He goes.

The subject is singular,

so you need to use a singular verb form.

And this is true, most of the time!

Now, you might be thinking that you

understand subject verb agreement.

It's simple, it's easy, right?

But it's the first thing that many English learners forget!

But don't worry, there are some simple

standard rules that you can use to help you.

But some aspects of singular and plural noun usage

make this a little more complex.

So that's why I'm going to teach you some tips

to master subject verb agreement in English.

Before we start,

I want to highlight that there are two main areas

where subject verb agreement can cause you problems.

The first is in your writing.

And it's important to know

the subject verb agreement rules

and how to use them correctly

so that your English writing is grammatically correct.

The other is your speaking skills.

Now, perhaps you feel confident that you know

how to match verbs to their subject

but the challenge is making that clear

when you're speaking.

And sometimes,

you might not even know this is a problem for you.

The final consonant sounds are so important

to communicating clearly.

But for many English learners,

it's not that easy to do.

Pronouncing the difference between do and does.

Now if this sounds like you,

then I want you to try and practise with me

out loud during this lesson.

Make sure you're hitting those final consonant sounds.

Okay?

Let's begin.

In the present tense,

nouns and verbs agree

in opposite ways.

When your subject is plural,

you usually add S to show that it's plural, right?

Car becomes cars.

Baby becomes babies.

But when your subject is plural,

you do not add an S to your verb.

The cars look expensive.

Our noun, cars,

is plural.

Cars.

Now our verb agrees with our subject.

The cars look expensive.

Now compare this to:

The car looks expensive.

When our noun is singular,

our verb needs to include an S.

In these examples,

the noun and the verb agree in opposite ways.

But I can already hear you saying

"What about if your subject is I or you?

They're singular subjects

but they don't use the singular verb form."

Yes,

but they're an exception to the rule.

Subject verb agreement rules are different

when your subject is in the third-person singular.

So that's when your subject is a he,

a she or an it.

The subjects I and you are different.

Even though they're also singular nouns,

they take the plural form of the verb

and you just need to remember that.

I like to go swimming.

She likes to go swimming.

Both of these subjects are singular

but the verb forms are different.

Now,

if there is an auxiliary verb,

a helping verb,

in your sentence

like do or does

in the present simple

or am, is, are, was, were in the continuous tenses

or have or has

in the perfect tenses

then,

you need to think about your subject verb agreement

because the auxiliary verb

becomes the agreeing verb,

the verb that agrees with the subject.

The dogs don't want it.

The dog doesn't want it.

We're going to the beach.

He is going to the beach.

Anna and Tony have been driving for hours.

Anna has been driving for hours.

Now modal verbs

like may, could, will, must, should,

they're also auxiliary verbs.

They help the main verb in the sentence

but the subject verb agreement rules are different

with modal auxiliary verbs.

The verb following a modal verb

is never in the S form.

It's always in the infinitive form.

My friends might come.

My friend might come.

Not my friend might comes.

You should come.

He should come.

Not he should comes.

Now, English sentences are not always this simple,

are they?

As you add more information to your sentences,

they become more complex

and it might be difficult to know whether your noun is

singular or plural.

But just remember that the same structure

and rules apply.

But you need to pay close attention

to where your subject is

and if it's singular or plural

because your verb must always match the subject

regardless of the words

that come in between

the verb and the subject.

It must always match.

Do you know what an indefinite pronoun is?

They're words like

everybody, nobody

anybody, someone.

Usually indefinite pronouns

take singular verbs.

Everybody wants to be loved.

Nobody likes to be left out.

Now the subject of English sentences

can be a little more complicated

with compound subjects.

Group nouns and relative clauses.

Look at this sentence.

My mum is happy for me.

My mum and dad are proud of me.

Two singular subjects

joined by "and"

means that your subject becomes plural

and now your verb needs to show this.

It's the same as saying that

they are proud of me.

So we can say that

two or more singular subjects

joined with "and"

become a plural subject

and they need a plural verb.

Now look at this sentence.

Peter or Paul is coming.

Now in this sentence,

the two singular subjects

are treated as a singular subject

because "or" gives us an option.

We're not saying both.

It's one singular noun or the other.

Not both of them together.

We would say

Peter and Paul are coming.

or

Peter or Paul is coming.

Playing football is fun.

Now the same rule applies

for gerunds and gerund phrases.

When gerunds are the subject,

they take the singular form of the verb.

Waiting for the bus is annoying.

But

when they're linked by "and"

they also take the plural form.

Meeting friends after work

and going to the beach

are my favourite things about living here.

Okay, so what about group nouns?

Single nouns that are actually

groups of people or things.

Club,

team,

company,

family,

crowd,

class.

They can be either singular or plural,

depending on the meaning of an individual sentence.

This is because they can describe

the individuals in the group

and since there's more than one,

it must be plural.

But it's also possible to use these nouns

as a single group

when you're referring to the group as a whole.

Then they're singular.

So they can be a little tricky!

For example.

The team is organising the event.

So this is referring to just the single unit,

it's a singular noun.

So we need to use the singular verb.

The team are meeting today.

So the members of the club are meeting together.

Using the plural form of the verb.

The teams are meeting today.

So when used plurally,

this means that there are

many of the individual group nouns.

There are more than one team

or family or a club.

And don't forget that some nouns

look like plural nouns

but they take a singular form.

For example, news.

It seems plural because of the S

but we need to treat it as a singular noun.

You need a singular verb.

The news is interesting.

Of course, any uncountable noun is treated this way too.

So don't say the furnitures are comfortable.

Say the furniture is comfortable.

Okay let's keep going!

We're getting a little more complex now.

Sometimes

the subject is tricky to find in English sentences.

It's not always before the noun.

Subjects and verbs change positions

in English questions

so you need to make sure you identify

which is the subject

before you choose the verb form.

What are the steps we need to follow?

In this sentence, "the steps" are the subject

and the verb is "are"

because it's plural.

There are many plants in your garden.

There is a plant in the bathroom.

Look at this sentence.

The car, which belongs to my brother,

is not very clean.

Relative clauses can make it difficult

to locate the subject and the verb.

Noun phrases also make this difficult,

where a group of words act as a noun.

The new features of the car are impressive.

"The features" are the subject.

It's plural, so it needs a plural verb

The more complex that your sentence becomes,

the harder you need to look for the subject and the verb

and make sure that they agree.

That was exhausting, wasn't it?

You might need to go for a walk now

to let all of that sink in or watch again.

I'm sure that some of this lesson

was good revision for you,

Drawing a SNOWMAN in AUSTRALIA! - Duration: 9:07.

Here I am in gorgeous Far North Queensland on a bright and breezy, hot

sunny day. Ironically though, I'm about to head back into the studio and draw a

snowman of all things. I don't know about you but I can't see any snow on those

mountains back there. So why am I drawing snow in the heat of tropical North

Queensland. The reason is I'm developing my Christmas collection for my art

licensing portfolio, and I just love that whole idea of a fantasy English

Christmas. Believe it or not I had never actually seen the snow until about six

years ago when we visited England at Christmas time and it actually snowed.

It was so beautiful and all of a sudden all my childhood fantasies came to life.

Now I like to capture those moments in my artworks. Now before I begin on my

practice work I decide on what colours I'm going to use. I've chosen some beautiful

cool blues and a cool purple for my background colors and for all the

shadows and I'm using some lovely warm colors yellows, and pinks for my

highlights. I begin with the outline first. Then I add the accents depending

on where the light source is. Accents are little tiny darker areas that imply that

there's shadow. The light source in this case is coming from the upper right.

Now that I've created the outline and added some little accents to indicate where

the shadows are I'm going to begin the shading.

I'm just shading mostly in the area beneath the accents and just applying a

little tiny bit in those highlight areas. The main emphasis is under those accents.

Now that I've added a bit of shading beneath those accents I'm going to blend with my stump

and you can see how beautifully the Derwent Procolour just blends like a pastel.

It's just that bit firmer though than a

pastel. It holds on to the page a bit more.

Now you can see I've left some of the paper blank where I'm about to add some

highlight. I've chosen to use a beautiful Primrose yellow which is a very pale

yellow, number two, and rose pink number 19. I'm adding some of the yellow to

create reflections for the highlights.

And a little bit of pink to give it a bit of colour.

And now I've finish my experimenting and I'm excited to get started on my snowman.

The first thing I need to do is putty back the drawing outline. This is graphite

pencil and it needs to be putted back so I'm just removing that. And now I'm ready to

create the outline. I'm using blue violet lake for the outline.

Just adding those little accents. And a bit of shading where those accents are.

A really important part of this process is making sure that I remember where the

light is coming from and you can see already in this artwork that the light

is really coming from this side here, so my shadows are going to be all towards

the back of these shapes.

I just keep on shading beneath any outlines that I create and all the while

I'm thinking about where I'm going to have my highlights. Naturally this area

is rising up so I'll leave that free for a bit of highlight later, maybe some

beautiful pale yellow. Just making my way around adding some shadows with some

darker areas just by applying pressure to the pencil. And a finer thinner line as

it comes up towards the light, so darker and thicker and then lighter as it comes upward.

And I just keep on shading around the area that I feel is in shadow then I

can begin my stumping. Yay! I love this part. Just blending that beautiful colour in.

And it just creates that wonderful delicate shadow that I'm looking for. I also

really love the texture of the paper and this is the beautiful St. Cuthbert's Mill

Saunders Waterford NOT pressed paper and I love it because it just

allows that little tiny bit of texture that helps to make it look like snow.

And once I'm happy with some of the shadows in an area then I dive in and add some highlights.

And I'm choosing my primrose yellow number two for this. So right

where I think the sun's just hitting the snowman and I'll light that up with some

gorgeous pale yellow and that just helps to give it form. Now as I come towards

the bauble see how they've got those beautiful reddish orange hues in there?

I'm going to use some pale pink and a bright pink. This is rose pink and

that just gives a bit of reflection into the snow because snow is never really

white. Always add a little bit of colour to it. A bit of brighter colour right in

close. This is cerise pink number 20. So I've been busily adding all the snow

to my snowman. I've even completed the hat and the scarf and the baubles and

let's have a closer look at what I've actually been doing here. So remember the

snow technique that I taught you earlier? You can see those beautiful purple lines

there and I've blended just beneath. Now another thing that I've done is I've

changed into the blue tones down in here as well, so I'm using these blue colors

as it comes forward and that's just to give it that a little bit of perspective.

Another thing I've done is added a brown around the edge that's to give it that

kind of cartoon element and animation sort of feel. Now one more thing that

I've been doing as well is burnishing. Now I've been burnishing with my white

and that's the stage I'm up to right now, so I'm just adding white over the

top of all the shading that I've been doing, even over the outlines.

I'm just burnishing by rubbing and creating little circular motions with my

white with a blunt point tip. The reason why I'm doing that is to soften all of

these lines and to create a lighter more smouldering sort of effect. Now I've

already been doing this, so I'm just adding those final finishing touches now.

Learn 14 GO Expressions in English - Duration: 23:10.

Hello.

My name is Emma and in today's video I am going to teach you some very important conversational English.

I'm going to teach you some expressions we use a lot, and all of these expressions have

one thing in common: They all use the word "go".

So, "go" is one of the first words you probably will learn in English.

We use it when we talk about going to a different place, so for example: I go to school or I

go to the park.

So, we have "go" and it has that meaning, but it also can have a lot of other meanings

in English, and those are the ones we're going to look at today.

So, again, we use it a lot in conversation.

So let's get started with some of the most basic ways we use "go" in conversation.

So I have here the question.

One of the first questions you ask a person when you meet them or when you see them, and

that is: "How are you?"

We often use "go" in a way that means the same thing as this, so we often say: "How's

it going?"

"How's it going?"

means the same thing as: "How are you?"

Notice that there is an apostrophe and an "s".

This actually is: "How is it going?" but we like to use a contraction in conversation.

It's a little bit more informal, so we would probably use this with maybe our friends or

our family, or you know, somebody we meet but maybe not in a job interview.

Okay?

So we use this a lot: "How's it going?"

If you are in Australia, you might see: "How you going?"

We would not say this in North America, I don't think we say this in England, but in

Australia you will often hear people say: "How you going?" and that means the same thing

as: "How are you?"

Okay?

I was very confused when I went to Australia.

I thought that, you know, people were making grammar mistakes, but it turns out that this

is actually a very common way in Australia to say: "How are you?"

Another thing we can use with "go" is if we want to find out how something specific, you

know, how is something.

So, for example, maybe your friend has just started taking some new classes, you might

say to them: "How are your classes going?" or "How is your job going?", "How...?"

You know, if you're talking about the past: "How did the interview go?"

So we often use "how" with, you know, some event or situation, and "going" to ask how

did it...

Like, you know, how...

How it was.

Okay?

And you'll see this a lot.

Okay, so these are some of the ways we use "go" when we're talking about how someone

is, and we will come back to this one, but let's talk about some of the responses first.

When somebody says: "How are you?"

you often respond with: "I'm fine."

So it's the same thing with when somebody asks you: "How's it going?"

You can say: "I'm fine", but you can also use "go" in your response, so you can say:

-"How's it going?"

-"It's going well."

or "It's going good."

I know that's not, you know, great grammar, but we do use "good" a lot when people ask

us how we're doing, like, in conversational English, not in written English.

But yeah: "It's going well", "It's going good", "It's going amazing", "It's going terrible".

Okay?

So you can use different adjectives here to describe how you're feeling or how your day

is going.

You know, you can also just talk generally.

You can say: "It's" or you can also say: "Everything" or "Things".

There are many variations of this.

You might say: -"How's it going?"

-"Everything is going amazing."

or: "Things are great.", "Things are going good."

Okay?

So there's a lot of variation.

If somebody asks you how, you know: "How are your classes going?" or "How is...?

How is work going?"

your answer could also be: "My classes are going great.", "Work is going great."

You know: "School is going amazing."

Or maybe, you know: "School's going terrible."

Okay?

So you can use this in a lot of different ways.

We also have this question which people sometimes ask when, you know, they see you and, you

know, maybe it's your friend and they're meeting you, they might say: "Hey.

What's going on?"

Okay?

So: "What's going on?"

This one you've got to be careful with, because: "What's going on?" can have multiple meanings,

and it all depends on the way you say it.

So, when you say: "What's going on?" it's very similar to: "How are you?"

You just also have to be careful about your tone.

So, for example: "What's going on?" is different than: "What's going on?"

Okay?

So you see how I changed my voice?

So if you say this in a very friendly: "What's going on?"

way, then it means pretty much: "How are you doing?" or "How are you?"

And the response to this might be something like: "Oh, what's going on?

Nothing much.

Not much is happening.

You know, I've just started classes, they're going good."

So, you know, you might answer in this way.

There are many different ways to answer, but: "Nothing much" means: "Yeah, you know, my

life is pretty much the same."

So these are all common at the very beginning of conversation.

Okay?

And, again, be careful with formality.

"How's it going?", "How you going?", "What's going on?"

These are informal, so you use them with your friends, you use them with people your age,

but you might not use them in maybe a business meeting or maybe a very serious situation.

All right, so now let's look at some other expressions where we use the word "go".

Okay, so we talked a little bit about: "Hey, what's going on?" in terms of "go" expressions.

Now I'm going to teach you another meaning of: "What's going on?"

"What's going on" or "What's going on here?" can also mean that maybe you're confused about

something, or you're actually asking: "What's happening?"

Okay?

So: "What's going on?" can also mean: "What's happening?"

So imagine if you saw a car accident, you might go up to somebody and say: "What's going

on here?

What's happening?"

Okay?

So they have the same meaning.

You know, also, like another way we use: "What's going on here?" is with parents and kids.

I remember when I was a kid, any time I was doing something bad, my mom wouldn't know

what I was doing but she would somehow know I was doing something bad.

So she didn't know what it was, but she knew...

Maybe I had a guilty look on my face, she always knew.

So she would always say to me: "What's going on here?"

meaning, you know: "What are you doing?

I know you're doing something bad.

What's going on here?"

And so that's why using your tone is very important for this, because: "What's going...?"

Or: "Hey, what's going on?" is different than: "What's going on?"

Okay?

So be very careful about the tone you're using because it's not the words that change the

meaning, it's the way you say it that changes the meaning for: "What's going on?"

Okay, we also have, you know: "Something is going on."

Or, you know...

This is similar to this, but: "Something is going on here", I'm not using it as a question.

I put a lot of question marks to show something is going on, means you're confused, you know

something is happening but you don't know what is happening.

So, sometimes, you know, for example, maybe you have two friends and, you know, they're

your friends and suddenly they're starting to act a bit funny around each other, and

you're thinking: "Hmm, these guys are acting kind of strange but I don't know why."

Okay?

Maybe they're secretly in love, maybe they've been dating for the past five months and,

you know, you just had no idea.

So when you see something and you know that something is happening, but you don't know

what exactly is happening, you can say: "Hmm, something is going on.

I don't know what's going on, but something is going on."

And I'm blocking these because it's not a question, it's a statement, but this...

It's pretty much, you know, in your mind you're thinking: "What's...

What's happening?

Something is going on.

I wonder what it is."

Okay, we can also use "go" when we're talking about change.

Things changing, things becoming different, and a lot of the times we use "go" when we're

talking about what some people would say are bad changes.

Okay?

So, for example: "go crazy".

Okay?

So, like, you know, somebody is going crazy right now.

Their girlfriend just broke up with them, they're really upset, they're going crazy.

Okay?

So there's a change there, there's a change in their behaviour.

And some people would say it's a negative change, or you know: "going mad".

We can also say, you know: "That guy's going mad", meaning crazy.

Not angry.

You know, in this case these two have the same meaning.

Or, you know, I personally like grey hair, but some people when their hair changes to

grey, some people see it as a bad thing.

I don't see it as a bad thing, but some people get upset about it, and so for those people

who think, you know, grey hair is a bad thing, when their hair changes from brown to grey,

maybe they say: "Oh, you know, his hair went grey." or "His hair is going grey."

So we use "go" with the colour, and again, "grey" means your hair colour.

Or, you know, I like people who are bald, but some people might see, like, losing your

hair as, like, a negative thing.

I don't, you know.

My brother is actually bald, but some people would see it as a negative thing, and so they

would say: "go bald", you know: "My brother went bald."

So it's a change from having hair to having no hair, and again, this...

I'm going to say it again: I don't think it's bad necessarily, some people might say it's

bad, but you know, it's all opinion-based.

Now, this is different from...

We have other changes that happen, we have: "old", "tired", "ill", these are also things

people see as negative changes, but we don't use "go" with these things.

We actually use the word "get", so you get old, you get tired, you get ill.

So, it really is, you know, sometimes we use "go", sometimes we use "get" when we're talking

about negative changes.

You just need to, like, learn the word and figure out: Is it with "go" or is it with

"get"?

But again, this is another way we use "go".

So now let's look at some other examples of "go".

Okay, so another way that we use "go"...

So as you can see, there are many different ways we use "go" instead of just: "go to the

park".

We use it in many different expressions.

Another expression is: "There you go" or "Here you go".

Now, this is one we use a lot in conversation.

Okay?

So we don't really use it in writing, but in conversation you will hear it a lot.

And so what does it mean?

Well, usually we use: "There you go" or "Here you go" when we're giving something to somebody.

It's what we say as we give something to somebody.

So imagine I have this marker, I want to give you the marker, I will say: "There you go"

or "Here you go".

A lot of students get very, like, worried about the difference between "there" and "here".

For these expressions usually it means pretty much the same thing, so don't worry about

it.

You know, if you say: "Here we go", or you know: "There you go", it sounds the same to

native speakers of English.

So, don't worry so much about if you use "there" or "here".

Okay?

You can use both.

So, my example is: -"Can I use your pen?"

-"There you go" or -"Here you go".

And so this also means: "Yes you can."

If somebody is asking you for something: -"Can I borrow, you know...?

Or can I have a piece of paper?"

-"Yes, there you go."

It means you're giving them permission and you're also handing them something.

You can also say it if you do something for somebody.

So, for example, maybe somebody wants you to give them a whole new hairstyle, so you

work on their hairstyle, you make their hair look really nice, and you might say: "There

you go", meaning, you know: "I've just done this for you."

So we use this a lot in speech.

Main one, though, is when you're giving something to somebody, you say: "There we go."

Okay, we can also use: "There we go again" or "There you go again", you can change the

subject here, depending on the situation.

You can use this when you want to show you are kind of annoyed or, you know, this is

an annoyed face.

It's not a happy face.

It's more of an angry face.

So when you want to show you are frustrated about something.

So, for example, I'll give you a good example of this: Imagine you have a friend who gets

very mad or very angry, and he gets angry often.

Okay?

So imagine you want to go to a movie theatre, and your friend is supposed to come with you

but, you know, his girlfriend and him had a fight, now he doesn't want to come, so maybe

you're a little bit annoyed.

You're not really happy about that.

If this is something that happens often...

Okay?

So it happens again, and again, and again, you would probably say this, you would say:

"Ah, there we go again" or "Here we go again".

And this means...

It's showing that something keeps happening and, you know, it's making you kind of annoyed

or angry because it happens a lot.

You know, another example of this might be maybe you have a friend who, like, you know,

drinks a lot, and maybe you get like a phone call and your friend says, you know: "I can't

find my house.

I don't know where I am.

I'm lost in the city.

You know, please help me.

Come find me."

If you get this call every Friday night, you're going to start getting, like: "Oh, again?"

And so what you would say is: "Ugh, Chelsea's drunk again.

Here we go again" or "There we go again".

Okay?

So that's the meaning of it, it's when you're showing you're annoyed with something that

happens a lot.

On the positive side, so on the happy side of this, we also use: "There we go" or "There

you go" when we're showing encouragement for something.

Okay?

When we want to encourage somebody or, you know, congratulate them for doing something...

Doing a good job on something.

Okay?

So, for example, imagine...

This is so far from the truth, but imagine I'm a hockey player and I'm really good at

hockey and I love hockey, and you know, I'm playing in a game and my team wins.

We're so excited.

We can say: "There we go!

We did it!"

Okay?

Meaning: "Yes, we won the game!

There we go!"

Okay?

So we're encouraging and congratulating ourselves.

Maybe if I'm not included, maybe if I'm talking to you and you just did really well on your

English test, I'd say: "There you go!"

Okay?

And sometimes we also do the, you know, this motion: "There you go!" to show our excitement

that you did well.

We can also say: "Way to go!"

Okay?

To show, like, you know: "Well done!

Way to go!"

So you might see a teacher write this on, you know, a test if you did a good job, and

so it means the same thing, it means, you know: "Good job.

I want to congratulate you for doing something well."

All right, so now let's look at some more expressions of "go".

Okay, so I really like the next expression because it's very positive, very upbeat, it's

a very good message, and that's: "Go for it!"

So, we use this a lot in conversation, all of these expressions are very conversational

expressions we use.

"Go for it!" is what we tell somebody when they want to do something and they're not

sure if they should or not, but it is a good idea.

Maybe they're afraid to do something, and you want to tell them: "No, do it", you could

say: "Go for it."

It kind of reminds me of a Nike commercial.

You know how they say: "Just do it"?

"Go for it" is kind of the same idea.

So, for example, maybe somebody says to you: "You know what?

I really want to get this job, but I don't think I'm a good candidate.

I don't think I'm going to get the job.

You know, maybe I don't have enough education or, you know, my English isn't good enough,

somebody might say to you: "Go for it" or "Go for it anyway", and it's, you know, to

tell you, you know, despite all that, do it, apply for that job.

Maybe you're thinking about going to school but you don't think, you know: -"Well, maybe

I shouldn't do it, or I don't know."

-"Go for it" means: Yeah, do it.

So it's a way to encourage people to do something.

And we often use it when somebody is having doubts.

They're not sure because maybe they don't have confidence.

So we often say: "Go for it" to our friends or, you know, to tell them: "Yeah, you can

do it."

Another way we use this is when we're talking about food, if there's one piece of candy

left or one slice of cake left, or you know, one apple left, whatever you're eating and

there's only one left and somebody wants to eat it, but they're worried maybe you want

to eat it, you can tell them: "Yeah, you want it?

Go for it."

Means: "Yeah, you can eat it", so we also use it in that example as well.

Okay, the next one I wanted to talk about, the next "go" expression is: "Go out of your

way" for someone or something.

So when you go out of your way for someone or something it means that you do something

with more effort...

Okay?

So special effort.

So it's something you don't usually do, but you do something that makes your life a little

bit more difficult to help someone or to do something.

So, for example, you know, maybe I'm going home and my mom calls me and says: "Can you

pick me up some bread?"

Now, even though I'm close to home, this is my home, this is, you know, my car, and the

bread's over here, I go out of my way to get the bread.

So I do more work to accomplish some sort of go-, go-, goal.

Sorry.

You know, another example: "I always go out of my way to help someone."

Okay?

So, you know, even though there's an easy way to do something, I will do extra things

to help somebody.

Or maybe, you know...

You know, some teachers go out of their way for students.

Maybe their student is having a lot of trouble with, you know, the present perfect or, you

know, some sort of grammar, and so even though the teacher finishes her...

His or her work at maybe 4pm, they will stay for an extra hour to help the student.

The teacher is going out of their way, meaning they're putting extra effort in, but it's

something, you know, they want to do, they want to help the student.

So: "Go out of your way" means you make a special effort to help someone or to do something.

Okay?

So we've looked at a lot of "go" expressions today.

I recommend watching this video a couple of times because we have covered a lot and, you

know, usually your memory can only hold so many new pieces of vocabulary at a time.

So it's actually good to maybe concentrate on maybe three expressions, get those down,

get used to those expressions, and then watch it again, learn another three expressions

we covered.

You know, that can be really, really helpful.

You can also check out our website at www.engvid.com, and there you can do a quiz to practice a

lot of what you learned today.

I highly recommend that, too, and I also recommend you take the quiz multiple times.

You know, maybe you are really good at the quiz this week, but maybe next week you've

forgotten some of the words, so it's good to do these quizzes multiple times to really

help you remember the material.

You can also subscribe to my channel; I have a lot of videos on all sorts of topics, including

vocabulary, IELTS, pronunciation, grammar, just all sort of different topics.

So I highly recommend you check that out.

Thank you for watching, and until next time, take care.

Lawrence O'Donnell Meltdown Leaker FIRED - Duration: 5:51.

EARLIER THIS YEAR, LAWRENCE AND DONALD WAS UNFORTUNATELY

HUMILIATED AFTER SOMEONE WORKING FOR NBC LEAKED SOME FOOTAGE OF

HIM LOSING HIS PATIENTS WITH SOME OF HIS PRODUCERS DURING A

LIVE BROADCAST.

NOW NBC HAS IDENTIFIED THE LEAKER AND THE

INDIVIDUAL HAS BEEN FIRED.

SO WHAT WE KNOW SO FAR IS THE VIDEO

OF LAWRENCE O'DONNELL WAS LEAKED ON SEPTEMBER 20 THAT THE LEAKER

WAS IDENTIFIED, CONFRONTED, AND FIRED ON THE 26TH, SO SIX

DAYS LATER THEY FOUND HIM.

TURNED OUT TO BE A TODAY SHOW

EDITOR WHO SAID HE DID IT BECAUSE HE THOUGHT IT WAS FUNNY,

AND IT WAS, BUT IT WASN'T EXACTLY THE PERFECT CRIME

BECAUSE HE DID LEAVE A VERY CLEAR TRAIL, SO HE WAS EASY TO

FIND, EASY TO FIRE.

IT IS UNFORTUNATE THAT THEY DIDN'T

IDENTIFY THE PERSON IS AND I'M ACTUALLY HAPPY THEY DIDN'T DO

THAT BECAUSE AT LEAST HE'LL BE MAY BE OKAY WITH FINDING OTHER

WORK BUT I WANT TO GO TO OTHER LAWRENCE O'DONNELL VIDEOS

BECAUSE THEY ARE HILARIOUS THAT.

I HAVE COMMENTARY ON THIS IN A SECOND AS TO WHETHER THEY

SHOULD'VE FIRED HIM OR NOT BUT FIRST, LET'S NEEDLESSLY

SHOW YOU THE VIDEO AGAIN.

OKAY NO BUT THERE'S A TON OF VIDEO POSSIBILITIES HERE, SO

LET'S SHOW YOU ONE OF THE LONGER ONES THAT KIND OF TOUCHES ON ALL

IT'S FUNNY BECAUSE WE'VE BEEN THERE.

NOT TO SAY THAT WE'VE

LOST HER TEMPER TO THAT EXTENT, BUT WE'VE HAD OUR BAD DAYS WHERE

THINGS ARE GOING WRONG AND WE ARE LIVE ON AIR AND THINGS ARE

MALFUNCTIONING AND THE THING THAT MAKES US DIFFERENT IS THAT

WE DON'T DO THIS BUT IN THE NEW SHOW WHERE EVERYTHING HAS TO GO

PERFECTLY AND WE CAN'T JUST BE HONEST WITH THE AUDIENCE ABOUT

WHAT IS GOING ON.

HE DOES THE ROBOTIC BUTTON-DOWN NEW SHOW.

HE'S A GREAT GUY, SMART GUY BUT IF YOU SCREW UP ON LIVE TV AND

YOU ARE DOING TRADITIONAL TV IT IS LIKE THAT OF THE WORLD.

LOOK, WE'RE NOT MAD AT HIM.

WE COULD PROBABLY YELLED THE

PRODUCER TO, LET'S KEEP IT REAL BUT HAVING SAID THAT, YOU

SHOULDN'T SAY, HE WAS WORRIED THAT THEY WERE SAYING THE WRONG

THINGS ON AIR.

YOU SHOULD BE WORRIED ABOUT THAT AND IF YOU

HAVE AN EARPIECE AND SOMEONE IS TALKING AT YOU WHILE YOU ARE

TRYING TO TALK ON AIR, IT IS ENORMOUSLY DISTRACTING.

I'M NOT

SURE I EVER HAD ALL OF THE PEOPLE COMING IN MY YEAR.

ANYWAY, IT'S NOT TO GET ON LAWRENCE, AND YOU CAN'T GO

LEAKED TAPES LIKE THIS.

OF COURSE YOU CAN'T. OF COURSE

YOU'RE GOING TO GET FIRED.

THEY WANT TO DO MORE VIDEOS?.

Unboxing ◇ NCT 127 1st Mini Album ― NCT #127 - Duration: 7:53.

Hello, today I have here

NCT 127's first mini album

The first mini album from this unit

And I am proud to say that finally I have

all NCT albums, completing my collection with this one

It's all wrapped

so I'm going to open it here with you all

Let's do this ~

My biggest suffering

NCT is probably one of my favorite groups

Oh~ look, that was quick

That's why I got all albums to this day

I love all songs,

the concepts, even those weird concepts they have

I simply love it... That was really quick, I'm impressed

So let's finally open my baby!

The last one ~

The cover is removable, is that it...?

NCT 127 ~

I completely forgot about this.

So, since this was their first mini album,

from 127, means that

Johnny and Doyoung were not part of

the unit yet.

So we only have 7/9 of the babies

Here's the tracklist, I think

Yep, that's the tracklist

I love them.

I probably love all of their songs, I don't have one song

that I like less than the others

It's amazing, really.

Their famous camo pattern

with their colors

So beautiful~

Okay, let's do it.

Oh my god.

So cute, I loved this

Everything is coordinated ~ the cd...

(obvs i'm so dumb sometimes)

oh my god.

Mark looks like a baby here

So cute ~

OH MY BABY

They are all my babies so I'm always going to be

"Oh my baby" at them all

JAEHYUN YOU'RE WONDERFUL

oh no...

TY is hidden here

That's so nice, I love these things like that

Here's the tracklist and the lyrics now

(I'm just reading the tracklist, not important)

"Switch" is so cute, I just love it.

The first one is Firetruck

So beautiful

Credits...

Special credits...

Okay so...

The things are here, let me...

Is it covered? Yes, good. I don't know who it is.

It's going to be the last thing.

I love this picture...

SM paper

The last page...

Okay, am I ready? No, I'm not.

Ohhh so cute, it's a...

NCT 127 sticker.

Yep, a sticker.

( MY BABYYYYY TAEIL )

He looks so nice omg

I loved the rings, oh and his autograph is Nice

So wonderful.

So guys...

That was it.

NCT 127, their first mini album...

Thanks for watching...

Bye!
