Everything Gorillaz here.

I've come to a decision today that's been very hard...

I'm going to beg for money from you guys.

Nothing too crazy, I'm just asking for some generous PayPal donations to pay off the Pro

subscriptions for the Everything Gorillaz SoundCloud accounts, which would be about

21 dollars per month if the accounts are only Pro, and 45 dollars per month if the accounts

are Pro Unlimited.

Seriously, if 45 of you decided to give 1 dollar to the account, I'd be good for a whole

month...

If a bunch of you guys gave a bunch of spare change, who knows how long I'd be good for!

I figure I'll try to give a bit of incentive, so I'm deciding that the top 3 donators can

Gorillaz SoundCloud accounts.

I'm thinking maybe I should make it a Patreon thing so it's easy to have a recurring donation

Huh, that wasn't actually too bad.

I feel better now.

I can mostly attribute this to my chronic, episodic mental illness which has at times

rendered the act of showering impossible to me for no visible reason.

In aged care, there's something that is referred to as the eight "Activities of

Daily Living", and the eight "Independent Activities of Daily Living" that are used

to assess the level of function a person has.

I'll put them up on the screen here.

Now, you can see how if you apply these to assessing the functioning of a young person

with an invisible illness, the lines can get blurred.

There are things on this list that I, as a younger adolescent, never did (see maintaining

your housekeeping).

In periods of un-wellness however, there is a difference between what I didn't do and

what I couldn't do.

In the history of my invisible illness, a combination of all of the above have been

unattainable.

(Yay for living with family that loves and supports you and will help you with your meds

when you can't get out of bed!)

And that's why I hate them.

Because I learned to see the shower as an inaccessible enemy that I must struggle with

but never defeat.

Left alone in the glass prism with my thoughts, water being pelted at my one day corpse, I

will emerge victorious- clean- liberated.

Only to turn around and realise the fucker is going to whoop my ass the very next consecutive

day.

It was, and still is, a nightmare.

I am currently employing a strategy of avoidance.

It involves changing clothes as often as possible, deodorant, make-up removal wipes, dive bombing

into the farm lake (which probably does more harm than good as the bottom is mud) and sleeping

outside.

For now, this is working fine for me.

I'm enjoying my new live living on a farm

Sore Throat Remedy That Works - How to Cure Sore Throat Using Home Remedies - Duration: 3:05.

Many of us suffer from throat infection often especially in winter. Suddenly you may feel

that you are suffering from tremendous sore throat. You can then use some home remedies

for throat infection to get an instant rid of this problem.

1. Salt Water Gargle. The antiseptic of the salt water can reduce

you from the throat infection. Take a glass of warm water and then pour half teaspoon

salt. Now, gargle several times using salt water. Please be careful that you are not

swallowing the water. You must spit the water out when you finish gargling. To improve the

condition you can use this method at least four times in a day.

2. Honey. The easiest ingredient is honey that can cure

you from the throat problem. The antibacterial properties of honey can work to heal you from

the sore throat. It is simple enough. Just add one or two tablespoons of honey with one

cup of lukewarm water. Mix them and drink it several times a day. You can take simply

honey just before going to sleep when you feel bad with sore throat.

3. Lemon. Yap, lemon even can get rid you off from the

sore throat. You just need to take a couple of slices of lemon, salt and pepper. Sprinkle

the salt and pepper over the lemon slices and then lick the lemon slowly.

You can gargle with the lemon juice by mixing it with warm water also. You can add a few

drops of honey if you want. The mixture of lemon, warm water and honey can help you to

get rid of the sore throat. 4. Power of Garlic.

Garlic is not only for cooking! It can be also used to reduce the sore throat. The antibacterial

and antiseptic contents can help you to get rid of the sore throat. You have to cut fresh

garlic into pieces. It would be better if you can split the garlic using your teeth.

It will kill the chemical allicin which is responsible for sore throat.

You can also use the garlic oil. Just take a few falls of garlic oil to ¼ of a cup of

water. Use this over the throat regularly. Eat raw and cooked garlic. Garlic pills can

be taken if you can't bear the taste of garlic.

5. Cinnamon. Cinnamon is helpful to reduce your sore throat.

Take a pinch of cinnamon powder, one pinch of paper and a little water. Mix all three

together and boil for a decent while. Add a teaspoon of honey to it. Take the boiled

mixture from the over and drink this slowly. Continue this remedy for at least one week.

6. Control Food Items: Always make sure that you are not taking spicy

foods too much. You will have to control drinking cold water and ice-cream to control the sore

North Korean leader Kim Jong-un's sister is making a name for herself at the 2018 Winter

Olympics in South Korea.

She's been silently attacking with her eyes and Vice President Mike Pence isn't having

any of it.

In fact, Pence gave her a brutal present in return, and it may have totally caught her

off guard.

It was just the beginning of the Olympics, and Mike Pence was sitting there minding his

own business.

That's when television showed the audience who sat down almost directly behind the American

Vice President.

It was her – Kim Jong-un's sister, Kim Yo-jong.

She wasn't immediately behind him, but she was over a seat or so to Pence's right.

The world made a huge deal about it due to the rising tensions between America and North

Korea.

The world is often on edge, keeping a watchful eye on Kim Jong-un as he orders his military

to conduct controversial weapons testing.

One of his weapons tests was allegedly a rocket/missile that can carry the anthrax chemical which

would be used to cause an explosion laced with poison.

It appeared to be a mixture of chemical weapons and physically destructive war power.

President Trump and Kim Jong-un persistently traded verbal blows on Twitter, making it

a gun measuring contest, and now some of our leadership is bestowed upon the relatives

of Jong-un.

The seating arrangement was very controversial due to the previous assassination of Kim Jong-un's

half-brother being assassinated in public.

That occurred when a woman held a poison in front of his nose at an airport.

He later succumbed to the drug.

The conversation has swirled in so many directions regarding the assassination.

When people noticed Kim Yo-jong sitting so close to Vice President Mike Pence, they couldn't

help but wonder if there was something deadly planned for the American leader.

We previously reported: "The controversy is already underway for

the Winter Games and the tension between countries is at an all-time high at the moment.

It was only days before Pence arrived in South Korea that North Korea was warned they would

be smacked with the "toughest sanctions" if they continued testing nuclear weapons

or missiles.

Reports suggest that Mike Pence did not stand for North Korea, nor does it appear that he

and Yo Jong had spoken.

North and South Korea have a joint Olympic team for specific events.

Pence, his wife, and others were sitting in a VIP box when this occurred.

Pence was able to sit in an area with only Team USA representatives, but he chose to

purposely sit in the other location so that North Korea would notice him.

It is unknown if Jong-un's sister was placed there on purpose, but the picture shows her

face as not appearing very happy.

The man she's sitting next to has a skeptical look on his face and is looking possibly toward

Pence's direction.

Nothing happened yet, but it had some people on the edge of their seat."

Watching a relative of North Korea's Kim Jong-un sit so close to Vice President Mike

Pence was very tense for many people.

The camera caught it.

The world watched it.

She knew where she was.

Mike Pence knew she was there, but he didn't care.

He had no interest.

He didn't communicate or anything.

He straight up ignored her.

She may have expected a huge response out of him being so close, but Pence played it

cool and completely ignored her.

It was like watching a person ignore their ex-lover and pay them absolutely no mind.

This could have been a very tense situation that involved an argument or physical attack.

There's no telling what Kim Jong-un is up to and there's nothing you can put past

the reach of his power in the Eastern Hemisphere.

Mike Pence delivered the most silent but deadly response to Jong-un's sister when he ignored

her.

He also skipped a dinner where she may have been present and refused to honor North Korea

by remaining seated.

This was a silent show of force due to the mounting political situation that involves

North Korea.

People on social media continuously think World War III will break out at any moment

when they're reviewing the tensions between both countries.

If a war ever broke out, then it would likely be because of something that North Korea did

and one of the opposing countries are responding.

President Trump would not strike North Korea first unless they committed a horrible terrorist

attack or hit the United States with one of their missiles.

The ESP32 chip is a fantastic new chip with great features.

It offers a lot of processing power, two 32 bit cores, a lot of memory, Bluetooth and

WiFi in a small and easy to use chip.

One of the most interesting things about the ESP32 chip is that it offers a low-power deep

sleep mode which is very easy to use.

Let's see how to use it.

Inside the ESP32 chip, we can find the two processing cores, the RAM and ROM memory,

the WiFi module, the Bluetooth Module, a hardware acceleration module for cryptographic applications,

the RTC module, and a lot of peripherals.

Inside the RTC module, we can find a PMU (Phasor measurement unit) a small and very low power

32-bit co-processor, and 8Kbs of RAM memory.

This small amount of memory is very useful as you are going to find out in a moment.

Also note, even the RTC memory of the ESP32 chip is 4 times larger than the memory of

the Arduino Uno.

The WiFi modules, the Processing Cores, and the Bluetooth module require a lot of current

to operate.

So, if we want to conserve power we have to disable them when don't use them.

This is what we are going to do now.

We are going to put the ESP32 to Deep – Sleep mode where it disables everything except the

RTC module.

There is a light sleep mode and the Deep – Sleep mode.

In Deep Sleep mode the ESP32 offers the lowest power consumption.

It just needs 0.01 mAs of current in Deep Sleep mode and that's why we are going to

try today.

In this mode as I said earlier, everything is disabled.

The CPU cores, the WiFI module, the Bluetooth Module, the Peripherals and so on.

Along with the CPU, the main memory of the chip is also disabled, so everything stored

in the memory is lost forever.

The only module that still works when in deep-sleep mode is the RTC module, the ultra-low-power

co-processor, and its memory!

So, if we save the data we want to survive the Deep-Sleep mode into the RTC memory they

will be intact when we wake the chip back up.

There are three ways to wake up the chip.

We can use a timer, a GPIO pin, or the co-processor.

Today we are going learn how to use the timer to wake up the chip after a specific amount

of time.

Let's see an example.

I have connected two LEDs to this ESP32 board.

When the ESP32 boots up it lights up the yellow LED for three seconds, and then it goes into

Deep-Sleep mode for 3 seconds.

When it wakes up, it lights up the Green led for 3 seconds and goes back to sleep.

From now on it will only blink the green LED, so the chip remembers that it is not the first

time it boots up because we are using the RTC memory to store an integer value.

Let's take a quick look at the code of this project.

As you can see the code is very simple.

In order to put the ESP32 into Deep-Sleep mode, all we need is two lines of code.

We enable the timer with the esp_sleep_enable_timer_wakeup function, we enter the time to sleep in seconds

here, and then we call the esp_deep_sleep_start function.

That's it!

There is a small difference with the execution of the code though.

When we use the deep-sleep function, each time the ESP32 wakes up, it executes the setup

function again.

The loop function is never called.

All the variable values are lost, except if we save them in the RTC memory using this

prefix.

In this example, I save the bootCount int variable into the RTC memory in order the

program to know if it is the first time it runs and turn on the correct LED.

As always you can find the code of this example in the description below.

Let's now see the power consumption of the board.

When the ESP32 is in active mode, it draws around 60mAs of current from the battery.

When the ESP32 is in Deep Sleep mode it draws around 19mAs of current!

This is a big reduction in current draw, but the creators of the chip claim that it needs

0.01mA of current in deep-sleep mode.

What's wrong with our setup?

The culprit is the board.

I am using a DOIT ESP32 board, the first ESP32 board that appeared on the market about a

year ago.

The design of the board is not optimized for power consumption so, even in deep-sleep mode,

it needs a lot of current.

Luckily there are better designed ESP32 boards out there.

For example, the Firebeetle ESP32 board by DFrobot is better designed and can achieve

a deep-sleep current of just 0.01mΑs when powered by a 3.3V power supply.

If we power the board with the same battery pack we used before, which outputs around

4.8V, we can see that the current draw is 48mAs in active mode and just 0.05mAs Deep

Sleep mode!

Impressive isn't it!

We can further reduce the power consumption of the board if we use a 3.3V battery or power

supply.

I will try that in a future video.

The 0.05mΑs of current that the board requires in Deep-Sleep mode is the lowest current draw

I have ever seen in a fully featured ESP32 board, with USB to serial driver, regulator,

and battery circuit.

If you have discovered any board that can achieve similar or better results than the

Firebeetle board, please let me know in the comments section below, I would love to try

it.

The power consumption of the Firebeetle ESP32 board in Deep-Sleep mode is extremely low.

It needs around 1.44 mΑhs per day if powered by 4 AA rechargeable batteries.

So, in theory, this power bank which has a capacity of 2.500mAhs can power the board

for almost 5 years if we put it in Deep Sleep mode!

Of course, we are going to wake up the board from time to time to perform a task which

will require more power, so the battery life will be reduced greatly.

For example, do you remember the E-Paper thermometer we built last week?

It needed 60mAs current when not updating.

Now, using the deep sleep functionality of the chip, I managed to reduce current draw

to 0.43mAs of current.

So, with this power bank, we now have an estimated battery life of around 3 months.

Great, isn't it?

But I think there is a lot of room for improvements; there is a small current leak somewhere in

my circuit.

If we can reduce it, we can make this project run on batteries for over a year!

I think this is amazing!

We now have an extremely powerful board with very low power consumption.

The best of all is that all we need to do to take advantage of this is to use just two

lines of code!

I will start using this feature a lot in my future projects.

Unfortunately, the ESP32 software & hardware is not mature yet.

There is a software or hardware bug that appears in both the ESP32 boards I tried when using

the deep sleep mode.

After a random number of wakes up, the ESP32 goes to sleep and it won't wake up again.

This bug can happen after a couple of wake ups, or after 100.

It is just random.

One simple solution I discovered is to add a small delay of 500ms after waking up and

before reading from the RTC memory.

This way the project worked fine, but of course the penalty we pay is reduced battery life,

because the chip is in active mode for 500ms more in each wake up.

I think this bug will be resolved in the near future with a new software or hardware fix.
