Hello everyone I'm Kerri from Kerri's Crochet. Today I'm going to show you how
to make this eagle. It's a request from Ronnie. Last week I also reached two and a
half thousand subscribers and announced that I'd be having my first giveaway.
I'll be giving away three of my handmade crochet appliqués to each of three
lucky winners. To enter the competition comment on this video in the description
below.
I'll be using four ply crochet cotton for this project. I've got my brown for my
main color, my white for the head and the tail and my yellow for the beak and the
claws. I've also got scissors, a darning needle to weave in my ends, a 1.25
millimeter crochet hook and sewing thread and a sewing needle to stitch it
together and I'll be using the black to embroider on and eye and some of the
yellow to embroider just around the eye. I'm starting on the head so using my
white I make a magic loop and work eleven chain.
I miss the first chain and work one slip stitch into each of the next two
stitches
and then one single crochet into each stitch to the end
and then I slip stitch into my magic loop and work one chain and turn. For row two
I work two joined single crochet over the next four stitches. So a joined single
crochet over the first two stitches and then a joined single crochet over the
following two stitches and then I work a single crochet into each of the next
three stitches,
a slip stitch into the following stitch and then work four chain and now I start
on row three. For row three I miss the first chain and work one slip stitch
into each of the next three stitches
and then work a single crochet into each of the following two stitches. I'm now
working down into my main part.
Now I work a slip stitch into each stitch to the end
and then work a slip stitch into my magic loop and work one chain and turn.
Now I'm going to work one slip stitch into each of the first seven stitches
and then work four chain. For row five I miss the first chain and work one single crochet
into each of the next four stitches
and then I work one slip stitch into each of the remaining stitches
and then slip stitch into the magic loop and work one chain and turn and then I
work one slip stitch into each of the next six stitches
and work three chain. For row seven I miss the first chain and I work one
slip stitch into each stitch to the end
and then slip stitch into the magic loop and work one chain and turn and then we
work one slip stitch into each of the next five stitches.
Work three chain
and then miss the first chain and work one slip stitch into each stitch to the
end,
and then slip stitch into the magic loop. Pull your magic loop tight and fasten
off
and that's the head done. I'll just weave in my ends and I'll be back to do the
beak. Now the beaks worked with yellow and worked over four stitches. So I'm going
to join my yellow cotton just in here
and start with one chain and work one single crochet in the same place as the
chain and then one single crochet into the next three stitches.
For row two I start with one chain and turn and I work a joined single crochet
over the first two stitches and then one single crochet into each of the next two
stitches. For row three I start with one chain and turn and work one single
crochet in the first stitch and a joined single crochet over the following two
stitches. For row four I start with one chain and turn and I work a joined
single crochet over both the stitches, and fasten off,
and that's the eagles head and beak done. For the body I'll be using my brown. I start
with fifteen chain.
I miss the first chain and work one single crochet into each stitch to the
end.
For row two I work one chain and turn and I'm going to be working one single crochet
into each stitch across but I'm going to be working only into this front loop
here for each stitch. So one single crochet into the front loop only of the
previous round. That would just give it a bit more texture.
For row three I work one chain and turn and now I work one single crochet into the back
loop only, just this loop in here at the back of each stitch.
For row four I work one chain and turn. I work two single crochet into the first stitch
and then I work one single crochet into each stitch to the end working into the
front loop only, so just in there.
For row five I work one chain and turn and working only into the back part of the
single crochet I work one single crochet into each stitch across
and then into the last stitch I work two single crochet. For row six I work one
chain and turn. I work two single crochet into the first stitch and then one
single crochet into each stitch across working only into the front part of the
stitch from the previous round.
Sorry about the noise I'm still up at mum's looking after my parents and my
mum's Irish Wolfhound is right at my feet. He seems to be snorting a lot.
And that's the body done I'll fasten off.
Now I'll weave in my ends because I'm just going to do a bit of work down the
tail and do the legs. Now I'm just going to work a little bit of neatening down
the back. So I join my cotton just at the tip here and work one chain and work
a single crochet into the same place as the chain. Now I'm going to work two chain
and a slip stitch into the next stitch and I'll repeat that, the two chain and a
slip stitch into the next stitch down to the corner here, just to there.
Now I'm going to start on the legs. I work one chain and work one single
crochet into each of the next ten stitches.
For row two I work one chain and turn and I work one single crochet into each of the
next three stitches
and then a joined single crochet over the following two stitches. For row
three I work one chain and turn. I work a joined single crochet over the
first two stitches and one single crochet into each of the following two
stitches. For row four I work one chain and turn. I work a joined single crochet
over the first two stitches and then a joined single crochet into the same
place as the last joined single crochet and the next stitch and fasten off.
That's the first leg done.
For the second leg I join my cotton into the next stitch, just in there and
work one chain and I work one single crochet into each of the five stitches.
For row two I work one chain, I work two single crochet into the first stitch. One
single crochet into each of the next two stitches and a joined single crochet
over the last two.
For row three I work one chain and turn. I work a joined single crochet over
the first two stitches.
One single crochet in the next stitch and a joined single crochet over the
last two stitches. For row four I work one chain and turn. I work a joined single
crochet over the first two stitches
and then a joined single crochet into the same place as the last part of the joined
single crochet and the last stitch and fasten off,
and that's the body done. I'll weave in my ends to make it easier to do the claws
and I'll be back. Now for the claws with my yellow I make a magic loop and work
two chain. I miss the first chain and slip stitch into the following chain and then
I slip stitch into the magic loop and
work three chain. I miss the first chain and work a slip stitch into the
remaining two chain and slip stitch into the magic loop and work three chain. Miss
the first chain and slip stitch into the remaining two chain,
slip stitch into the magic loop and then work two chain. Miss the first chain and
slip stitch into the remaining chain and slip stitch into the magic loop. Then I
work one chain and then a single crochet into the magic loop and then I pull the
magic loop tight. Now I'm going to join it to the bottom of the leg.
I just slip stitch and then I'll turn it round and I'll slip stitch in through
the magic loop and fasten off
and then the claws can bend up a little bit like that. So I'll work the other one.
I'll make my magic loop and work two chain and work a slip stitch in the
second chain from the hook,
a slip stitch into the magic loop, three
chain. Miss the first and work a slip stitch into the remaining two chain and
a slip stitch into the magic loop and then three more chain. Miss the first and
work a slip stitch into the remaining two chain, a slip stitch into the magic
loop and then two chain. Work a slip stitch into the second chain from the
hook and then a slip stitch into the magic loop. Then one chain and a single
crochet into the magic loop. Pull the magic loop tight and join to the
bottom of the leg with a slip stitch
and then slip stitch into the magic loop and fasten off
and that's the body and the claws done. For the tail, using my white I start with
twelve chain.
I miss the first chain and work one single crochet into each stitch to the
end
and then I work three chain. For row two I miss the first chain and I work one
single crochet into each of the following two chain and then I work one
single crochet into each single crochet, but only working into the front loop,
just that loop there.
For row three I work one chain and turn and then I work one slip stitch
into each stitch across
and then work two chain. For row four I miss the first chain and I work
one single crochet into each stitch,
working only in the front loop of each stitch, just in there.
For row five I work one chain and turn and I work one slip stitch into each stitch
across
and then two chain. For row six I miss the first chain and work one
single crochet into each stitch working only in the front loop of the stitch
from the previous row.
For row seven I work one chain and turn and work one slip stitch into each
stitch until two stitches before the end.
For row eight we work one chain and turn and work one single crochet into
each stitch to the end
and then fasten off,
and that's the tail done. Now for the back wing, the smaller wing, using my
brown I start with twelve chain.
I miss the first two stitches and work one half double crochet into each of
the remaining chain.
Now rows two to six are worked the same. We start with one chain and turn and work one
single crochet into each stitch to the end.
So that was rows two to six, one chain and one single crochet into each stitch
to the end. So I'll work those rows and I'll be back.
Now that's row six finished. For row seven we work one chain and turn and we
work one single crochet into each stitch.
At the end we don't turn we work one chain and now we're going to work one
single crochet into each stitch along the top here,
and then we work ten chain.
For row nine we miss the first chain and work one single crochet into each of our chain
and then turn it and slip stitch into the next single crochet on our main
piece.
For row ten we work one chain and we work one slip stitch into each stitch along
the wing, the feather part, just up in here, one slip stitch into each stitch
and then we work five chain. For row eleven we miss the first chain and work one single
crochet into each stitch to the end. So down the chain first
and then flip it around and work down the last feather piece
and then slip stitch into the next stitch on your main part. For row twelve we
work one chain and turn and we slip stitch into each stitch up our feather
part until we get to the last four stitches.
Once we reach the fourth stitch to the end we work five chain. For row thirteen we
miss the first chain and work one single crochet in each stitch to the end
and then we slip stitch into the next stitch on our original piece and work
one chain and turn. For row fourteen we slip stitch into each stitch until we're four
stitches from the end
and then work four chain. For row fifteen we miss the first chain and work one
single crochet into each stitch to the end
and then slip stitch into the next stitch on our main piece and work one
chain and turn. For row sixteen we work one slip stitch into each stitch until we
get to four stitches before the end,
then work four chain. For row seventeen we work one, miss the first chain and work one single
crochet into each chain and down and slip stitch into our corner piece.
Now we work two chain and slip stitch into the next stitch working down. We're
going to work two chain and slip stitch into the next stitch right down to the
corner
and then fasten off,
and that's the back wing done. Now for the front wing, using my brown I start
with fifteen chain.
I miss the first two chain and I work one half double crochet into each
stitch to the end.
For row two I work one chain and turn and I work one single crochet into each
stitch to the end
and then I work ten chain.
For row three I miss the first chain and work one single crochet into each of the
remaining chain
and then I work one single crochet in each stitch across the top, just across
here
and then one single crochet into each stitch down the side here, the original
fifteen chain.
For row four I work one chain and turn and I work one slip stitch into each stitch until I
have four stitches left. So right up the side and up to the fourth stitch here
and then I work nine chain.
For row five we miss the first chain and work one single crochet into each stitch to the
end.
For row six we work one chain and turn and work one slip stitch into each stitch
until we've got four stitches left
and then we work nine chain.
For row seven we miss the first chain and work one single crochet into each stitch
to the end.
For row eight we work one chain and turn and work one slip stitch into each stitch
until we have four stitches left
and then we work five chain. For row nine I miss the first chain and work one single
crochet into each stitch to the end.
For row ten we work one chain and turn and work one slip stitch into each stitch
until we have six stitches left
and then we work four chain.
For row eleven we miss the first chain and work one single crochet in
each of the chain.
One single crochet in the first two stitches on our main part
and then a slip stitch into the next stitch. For row twelve we work one chain and
turn and we work one slip stitch into each stitch until we have three stitches
left
and then we work four chain. For row thirteen we miss the first chain and we work one
single crochet in each of the remaining chain.
One single crochet into each stitch down to our main part
and then one single crochet into each of the next two stitches on our main part
and then slip stitch into the next stitch and work one chain and turn and
then we repeat those two rows. We work one slip stitch into each stitch until
we have three left.
Then work four chain and then we miss the first chain and work a single crochet
into each of the remaining chain,
into the stitches down the side of the previous feather
and then the next two stitches on the original piece
and then slip stitch into the next stitch and we'll just repeat that and
work our feathers right down to the end. So I'll continue working those rows and
I'll be back. Now there's the feathers worked along to
the end. I'm just going to do a row of neatening just along there. So I'll work one
chain and work one single crochet into each stitch
and then I fasten off and that's the front wing done. I'll just weave in my
ends and I'll be back and we'll put it together. Here's all my pieces. The first
thing I'll do is embroider on the eye. I'll embroider on a black eye and then
I'll put a yellow ring around it. The next thing I do is attach the head to
the body. The beak points down a bit, so it goes in just there.
Now I attach the body to the tail. The body goes up over the top of the tail,
just like that. If you're not sure of any of the placement I do have my patterns
on my website. The details are in the description below.
The next thing I do is attach the front wing just in behind the body, just about
there. The last thing I do is attach the back wing just in behind the front wing,
in there, and there's the finished eagle. If you liked my video please like,

three appliqués. Thank you for watching. See you next time. Bye.
