Static Grass Applicator

We start with an empty box for the electronic components

here comes the step-up power converter 12VDC - 11kV

the mounting tabs are removed

and it fits in the box

we mount the female connector for the banana plug

a led in rubber ring as a power indicator

and a switch to switch on and off

we solder everything together (schematic follows)

it is tight, but it fits and it is nice and compact

and here the view of the self-build power unit

we take a container and a metal strainer

we pull out the wire mesh

and here it is, nice and flat

we cut out the bottom of the container

and we draw and cut the mesh to size

we glue the mesh into the container with hot glue

we have also made a smaller version

we solder a 2.5 mm2 wire to the wire mesh

we install a banana plug on the other side of the wire

we connect the grass container to the power unit

lay some static grass on the lid

we close the container and ......

turn on the power unit, turn the container over and ...

the result, first with power OFF, then with power ON

DIYs Mickey and Minnie 💖 Shelf, Coin Pouch and Clock - Duration: 5:36.

Hi, everyone, I am Dany Martines!

As you can see in the cover, today's theme is Mickey and Minnie.

Many of you guessed what my little surprise was:

The trip I will take is to Orlando! I will finally go to Disney!

For those of you who do not follow me on Instagram yet,

go to @danymartines, follow me there. I will keep you posted about my trip.

It will take place on April 16.

Now that you know what is news, let's move on to the DIY.

I will customize an ordinary clock in this first idea.

I disassembled it, removed its hands and background.

I replaced the old background for this cute one I have made.

The link to the pattern is in the description box below.

Reassemble it and then put it aside.

For the next step, use a 5mm EVA sheet.

It is a little thicker than the ordinary one.

I cut it out shaped like Minnie's ears and wrapped it in a cloth to look cuter.

I applied some hot glue

all the way around it and to the edges and stuck the cloth for a neater finish.

Then just trim around it and do the same for the other ear.

Isn't it cute?

I used red EVA for Minnie's hairbow.

Cut out the hairbow shape.

Then use permanent marker to add randomly placed polka dots.

After everything dried out, I added the black outlines.

Let's fully assemble the clock.

Stick the ears on the top, then stick the bow over them.

There you go!

There it is, the cutest clock to decorate any place you like.

I am sure all Minnie's fans like me will having a clock like this!

For the next idea, I will use ordinary EVA.

I will cut it out in Mickey's head shape, then will wrap it in black velboa,

this short-piled kind of fabric.

I have cut it a little bigger than the pattern, and cut slits around it.

Then just stick them facing inwards with hot glue,

until you have built up Mickey's head.

Cut out another head in black velboa to cover this messed-up side.

Do another part like this one, and put them aside.

Let's use EVA again. It does not matter which color you use.

Cut out this shape, whose pattern is also available in the description,

and then wrap it in black velboa. Add a 20cm zipper from inside.

There you go! Time to assemble it all.

Take Mickey's head and add a cord to its top.

Then form a circle around it with a zipper.

Do not forget to leave the edges to the bottom of the pouch.

Stick the other head over the zipper.

There you go! Mickey is good to go.

As I want Minnie, not Mickey, I cut a 12cm x 9cm rectangle

in this white polka-dotted cloth with a red background.

I turned it over and made hems on the longer edges.

Then apply glue onto the hems, and fold both sides inwards,

making some sort of mending.

There you go, you have got a smaller rectangle.

Fold the good side in half to make a bow.

Add hot glue in the creases so the bow gets firmer,

then wrap a strip made from the same cloth around the center.

Minnie's bow is good to go! Stick it next to the ears.

Now we are talking!

Your super cute coin pouch is good to go!

I am sure all your friends will fall for this Minnie when they see her!

I will reuse corrugated cardboard in the next idea.

I am using a two-layered corrugated cardboard because it is firmer.

I cut it out in this shape, with the head cut out at the top,

and a 15cm x 20cm rectangle at the bottom.

Let's cut four of these corrugated cardboard shapes.

If the cardboard you are using is thinner, then cut out more of these shapes.

I separated them in two parts, stuck one to the other,

and wrapped them in black EVA.

It should look like this.

I will stick a red square at the bottom of one of the sides,

and add two yellow circles to simulate Mickey's shorts' buttons.

Repeat the same procedure for the other two shapes.

Now we will need more of these thick corrugated cardboard sheets.

Cut them out in a 25cm x 12cm rectangle. We will need three parts like these

to stick them onto the other so they will form a stronger whole.

Wrap them in black EVA and stick red EVA to the sides.

Time to assemble our Mickey shelf!

I will stick two of these pieces at the back to build up one shelf.

Apply tons of glue to the sides so the shelves will be tightly stuck.

Then add the other Mickey shape to the other end.

The shelf is almost good to go, but to make it firmer,

I have cut 25cm x 4cm strips and covered them with red EVA like this,

leaving one of the sides uncovered.

Do four parts like this one, and stick one at each side of the shelf,

two parts at the bottom, two parts at the top.

Now we are talking, it is ready!

You may keep anything you like on it!

I decided I would organize my nail polishes and my things to do my nails.

It looks adorable, guys, I really, really, really love it,

but I am so biased to say this, as I am a huge Mickey and Minnie fan!

In general, anxiety is the biggest monster both in my personal experience and in the experience of others.

All the time this fearful bird is hovering over us, casts a shadow, frightens us and cools our hearts down.

Whatever fear it is, today the Gospel shows what can be done with it.

This is a very surprising reflection. Well, Jesus enters the room full with frightened disciples,

and what does he do? - He shows them his wounds. And he says - peace to you.

If you are scared - look at the wounds of Jesus. Look at the wounds that were to kill Him, and which today shine with glory.

These are the wounds that say - I have taken upon myself every suffering, every death, every terror that is in you, in your heart.

And it did not kill me, because the power of love is more powerful than any fear.

Love removes every fear. And it is not such a sentimental love, but love that went through the fire test of death.

Resurrected Christ has his healed wounds shining with glory at all times.

Mail art Cactos / Cactus - Watercolor/ Aquarela #5 - Duration: 16:24.

Hello people, here is Cris, from Watercolor Factory channel

Wellcome to my channel!

Today I'm going to teach you how to make a mail art with a cactus.

The cactus was a sugestion from my friend Ana Kalline.

I don't know Kal, if I used the colors the way you sugested me.

For those who haven't seen the other video, with Kal's comment

I used my Topicals pallet, from Prima Marketing, this color here, which is the green that

I thought weird on the other video, but in fact it is a very nice yellow

And this is the color I used to make the yellow of the cactus.

I liked it very much, I hope you like it too

So take your brushes and watercolors, and let's go!

All the materials I used will be on the description

Before everything, I cut my paper the size of the envelope and fixed it on mu base with tape

to make the painting easier

Then, I'll draw the cactus

If you do not want to draw it, I'll put on the description a link where you can download

the drawing for you to use as you like

For those who want to draw

I did it on the mail art format

leaving a space below on the right

Here I'm erasing the lines that came out too strong

An unusual object that I use to mix my watercolors is the ice mold

Yes!

It's very practical when you need to mix a variety of colors with much or few pigmentation

because there is a lot of space

On this case I'm preparing a yellow watercolor to make a gradient background to

my cactus.

Now I'll put an object below my base, on the top part, to by base

has a tilt

This technique is very usefull to make full or gradient background

I'll use a bug brush for practicality

Beginning from the top I'll paint on the horizontal, and as my base has a tilt, the watercolor

goes naturally to the bottom

I just need to pull it from one side to another, pulling also down

I also accelerated the video on this part ok, the painting process is slower than that

To make the gradient, the tip is to wet the brush with water, during the process, like that

the watercolor will be less pigmented while it goes down the paper

I waited untill my paper dries

I'll use the Pigma Micron number 08 to trace my drawing

I could have done it before painting, because this pen

is waterproof which makes it ideal to be used before

the watercolor

Now that I finished tracing my drawing,

I'll use a white wax crayon

to do some white dots on my cactus

You'll see how nice it will become when we paint

On the place of the white wax crayon, you can also use a candle

Great, now that Ifinished, I'll start my painting

I'm using light green, starting from the left

to the right and painting one side of the area chosen

After I clean my brush and use water to soften the edges and give a gradient effect

I'm going to make this in all parts of my cactus

If you have water in excess

you can take it off on a paper towel, on the side

And use the dry brush to pull the excess of water from the paper

The gradient technique can be better seen now,

as I paint the vase

See that I used very pigmented watercolor on the sides,

and after, with the wet brush

with clean water I pulled the ink to

the inside, where I tried to make an

light and shadow effect.

Well the ink of my cactus is dry, I can go on.

Now I'll use the yeallow I mentioned

in the beginning of the video, always with the same technique

the parts I haven't painted in green before,

and making the gradient goind to the green part

Now I'll use a little brush

and a darker blue

When I do teh gradient over the green

It becomes a greenish blue

and see that

we can already see the white dots

I don't know if you can see on the video,

I hope so, that the overlay of

the blue on the yellow have created a very nice green!

On this part I decided to let on the normal speed for you to see.

But If you want to speed the video you can do it on the youtube video configurations

See that the technique is always the same, color over color with gradient, more or less dark

The lightest part is always made pulling ht color that is already on the paper, with the wet brush

to give a darker tone on the edges.

Now I'll paint the soil on the vase

I exagerated a little on the water here, but It's ok

I could have left like that, but I decided to equal the sides

Withe the painting ready, I'll put the final details before glueing on the envelope

I'll make a black dot below every white dot, they are the thorns of the cactus.

And some on the sides too

Now I'll glue it on the envelope

I make this envelope from a paper bag,

This ugly side made of craft paper is where I'll glue my drawing

The idea is really recicle materials that would go to the trash

I used a green paper on the back

leaving about one centimeter bigger

On the paper edges that I left

outside of the envelope,

To use on my decoration

This is a simple paper ok guys

colored A4 paper

I had this idea

of using some paper I had here at home

but you can als use washi tape

or whatever other decoration you'd like

The Untold Truth Of Red Bull - Duration: 5:11.

Whether you're the type that can't imagine a trip to the grocery store or gas station

without grabbing an energy drink or if you rely on them only for an occasional emergency

pick-me-up, you're familiar with the distinctive taste of Red Bull.

It's gone from being the drink of choice for truck drivers in Thailand to a global phenomenon,

and you might be surprised to find it wasn't an instant, overnight success.

Let's talk about some of the stranger things you might not know about the beverage that

kicked off the energy drink revolution.

Humble beginnings

Red Bull might be everywhere today, but it didn't happen overnight.

The original Red Bull is called Krating Daeng and Thai entrepreneur Chaleo Yoovidhya created

the energy-imbuing blend in 1976.

Timing is everything, and Chaleo's creation came when Thailand's economy was facing a

nationwide industrialization.

Citizens needed something to help them make the transition from rural lifestyle to urban

jobs, especially blue-collar ones.

Truck drivers and factory workers were among the first targeted by the brand, and its popularity

skyrocketed.

He wasn't just selling a product, he was building a brand and targeting people he understood.

Chaleo was born in 1923 to a family of Chinese immigrants who had moved to Thailand, and

he counted things like duck farming among his early occupations.

He founded his own company, TC Pharma, in 1956, and it was decades before he struck

gold with his energy-giving drink.

An unlikely benefactor

Krating Daeng wasn't an instant global success by any means, and it wasn't until 1987 that

a completely unrelated business encounter turned it into Red Bull and introduced it

to the world.

It started when Chaleo's company began importing products from a German toothpaste company

called Blendax.

When Blendax's marketing director sampled his licensee's energy drink, there was no

looking back.

After a bit of tweaking and translation that took a whopping three years to get just right,

they started testing in the Austrian market first.

Fifteen years later, the company was enjoying $1.3 billion in annual sales.

That's no bull!

The logo of Red Bull is iconic, and you might assume they're simply two red bulls, squaring

off for a fight.

They're actually animals called gaur, and they've been endangered since 1986.

Native to South and Southeast Asia, the gaur is the tallest of the world's wild cattle,

and they all have the horns you see on the Red Bull logo, regardless of whether they're

male or female.

They're also among the largest living land animals, and in areas where they commonly

come into conflict with people, they've actually adapted to nocturnal schedules in an attempt

to avoid intruders.

Ironically, even though the gaur on the Red Bull logo are shown charging each other, they're

almost never seen fighting.

Nationwide bans

Red Bull might be best known for its energy drinks, but in 2009, the company made headlines

with another product.

Their Red Bull Cola was making waves — and not in a good way — when testing in Germany

found samples that contained trace amounts of cocaine.

News reports clarified that was due to the process behind making cola, which comes from

the same coca plant that's notorious for its illicit byproducts.

Extracts are included in a number of energy drinks, but the manufacturing process usually

removes the cocaine component.

France has had a huge problem with Red Bull, too.

In 2004, they raised concerns about the levels of caffeine Red Bull contains, and banned

the import and sale of it completely.

It wasn't until 2008 that the original, unmodified version of Red Bull was allowed to be imported

to and sold in France, because continued testing couldn't find any evidence of the supposed

health risks cited under the ban.

None of that stopped Lithuania, though, who banned the sale of Red Bull to minors in 2014.

Flavor debate

Everyone who's ever had a Red Bull knows exactly what it tastes like.

It's an incredibly distinctive flavor, but you probably can't name it.

No one has been able to really settle on just what the flavor is, although ideas range from

things like liquid sweet tarts to cough syrup with added sugar.

New flavors are a little more identifiable, with the release of cranberry, blueberry,

kiwi, and even pink grapefruit flavors, depending on what country you're in.

New flavors aside, the unique taste of the original Red Bull has remained completely

unchanged.

There's a good reason for its consistency, too.

Since they've never outsourced their flavors, Chaleo's TC Pharma remains the only producer

of that magical, mysterious, Red Bull flavor.

"Done!'

Where's my wings?

In 2014, Red Bull found themselves the target of an insane lawsuit, when they were sued

by a customer who felt betrayed by the advertisements informing him that "Red Bull gives you wings".

After consuming huge quantities of Red Bull, he was presumably shocked to find that he

had not actually grown wings.

He was also disappointed that he hadn't developed any intellectual or athletic super powers,

so he decided to take them to court.

It seems crazy, right?

But he actually won, sort of.

The suit claimed there was absolutely no scientific proof that a single Red Bull was any more

effective than a cup of coffee, even though it was considerably more expensive when broken

down to its core caffeine content, and marketed as being a superior product.

Red Bull settled out of court, and agreed to pay every Red Bull consumer $10... for

a total cost of $13 million.

Commercials and claims aside, it did work for at least one man!

of U.S. taxpayer dollars to help the globalist billionaire George Soros support the socialist

government in Albania back in 2016.

One America News Network reports: "The money was allegedly used to advance his globalist-left

agenda in Albania.

"The governments there, who are in the middle of these massive refugee flows from the Middle

East, they hate the fact those governments — in Macedonia, Albania, Hungary — object

to these flows and have taken steps to police their borders,

and that's one of the key complaints the Soros groups have," said Judicial Watch

President Tom Fitton . "And it's being done with your taxpayer dollars, and with

the help of your government officials."

Judicial Watch is also probing possible U.S. involvement in Soros activities in Macedonia

and Romania."

Judicial Watch Tom Fitton , in a statement , said the prior presidential administration

quietly spent at least $9 million in U.S. Taxpayer dollars , when he colluded with left-wing

billionaire George Soros in an effort to support the government of Albania . Fitton also added

,

that Sorors is a billionaire that there is no reason whatsoever , that he should be receiving

money from the already overburdened American Taxpayer in order to advance his radical-left

agenda in order to undermine the will of free people here, or abroad.

Judicial Watch obtained these records through FOIA (Freedom of Information Act) requests,

which confirmed that the $9 million was used specifically to give the socialist Albanian

government greater control of the country's judiciary system, not unlike what Barack Obama

did to the U.S. judicial system here in the U.S.

More on this via Fox News : "But Judicial Watch said the records revealed , that the

State Department gave Soros' Open Society Foundation "direct input" for its own

program funding reviews in Albania.

One report, from Feb. 10, 2017 on "Engagement with the Open Society Foundation for Albania"

stated that "as one of the major assistance providers in Albania, representatives for

the Open Society Foundation are frequently asked to participate in technical reviews

of applications that we receive for funding."

That report noted , that the Embassy's public affairs section "has not received any funds

from the Open Society Foundation to support any projects or activities," and that the

public affairs section "has not provided any funds to the Open Society Foundation to

support their projects or activities."

"For decades, there has been broad bipartisan agreement in Washington, DC on the need to

promote democracy and human rights abroad.

Of late there has been an unfortunate and misguided effort to politicize this process,"

a spokesperson for the Open Society Foundation said in a statement to Fox News .

"The Open Society Foundations and the U.S.

Government shared an interest in helping Albania and other similarly situated countries transition

from communism and democracy, and in promoting an independent judiciary."

The spokesperson added: "As the State Department stated in the documents Judicial Watch cited,

the US embassy in Tirana 'has not received any funds from the Open Society Foundation

to support any projects or activities,' nor has it 'provided any funds to the Open

Society Foundation to support their projects or activities."

But another memo obtained by Judicial Watch from April 2016 shows that the U.S. Embassy

in Tirana "sponsored" a survey along with Soros's Open Society Foundation to measure

Albanian citizens' "knowledge, support, and expectations on justice reform."

The poll, according to Judicial Watch, did not specify the type of reform the Soros group

was seeking, but the survey reported that 91 percent of respondents either "fully

support" or "somewhat support" the need for judicial reform in Albania.

Records dated February 2017 show that , the State Department used taxpayer funds to co-sponsor

a second poll with the Open Society Foundation.

"The Public Affairs Section and the Open Society Foundation Survey each provided funding

to a local organization to conduct a public opinion poll on attitudes toward the Judicial

Reform effort," the February report, reviewed by Fox News, read."

Although the United States gives billions in foreign aid to help poor countries establish

democracies and judicial systems what Soros ; open society did in Albania was funnel U.S

.

Taxpayer dollars to promote socialism and communism in Albania . This undermines longstanding

U.S. Foreign policy . But what is perhaps the worst part is that Obama just handed over

the

money to Soros .

so he could distribute it as he saw fit, and since we

all know very well , who this former Nazi Youth member is, we know the money didn't

go towards anything that would benefit the U.S. in the long run.

DIYs Mickey and Minnie 💖 Shelf, Coin Pouch and Clock - Duration: 5:36.

Hi, everyone, I am Dany Martines!

As you can see in the cover, today's theme is Mickey and Minnie.

Many of you guessed what my little surprise was:

The trip I will take is to Orlando! I will finally go to Disney!

For those of you who do not follow me on Instagram yet,

go to @danymartines, follow me there. I will keep you posted about my trip.

It will take place on April 16.

Now that you know what is news, let's move on to the DIY.

I will customize an ordinary clock in this first idea.

I disassembled it, removed its hands and background.

I replaced the old background for this cute one I have made.

The link to the pattern is in the description box below.

Reassemble it and then put it aside.

For the next step, use a 5mm EVA sheet.

It is a little thicker than the ordinary one.

I cut it out shaped like Minnie's ears and wrapped it in a cloth to look cuter.

I applied some hot glue

all the way around it and to the edges and stuck the cloth for a neater finish.

Then just trim around it and do the same for the other ear.

Isn't it cute?

I used red EVA for Minnie's hairbow.

Cut out the hairbow shape.

Then use permanent marker to add randomly placed polka dots.

After everything dried out, I added the black outlines.

Let's fully assemble the clock.

Stick the ears on the top, then stick the bow over them.

There you go!

There it is, the cutest clock to decorate any place you like.

I am sure all Minnie's fans like me will having a clock like this!

For the next idea, I will use ordinary EVA.

I will cut it out in Mickey's head shape, then will wrap it in black velboa,

this short-piled kind of fabric.

I have cut it a little bigger than the pattern, and cut slits around it.

Then just stick them facing inwards with hot glue,

until you have built up Mickey's head.

Cut out another head in black velboa to cover this messed-up side.

Do another part like this one, and put them aside.

Let's use EVA again. It does not matter which color you use.

Cut out this shape, whose pattern is also available in the description,

and then wrap it in black velboa. Add a 20cm zipper from inside.

There you go! Time to assemble it all.

Take Mickey's head and add a cord to its top.

Then form a circle around it with a zipper.

Do not forget to leave the edges to the bottom of the pouch.

Stick the other head over the zipper.

There you go! Mickey is good to go.

As I want Minnie, not Mickey, I cut a 12cm x 9cm rectangle

in this white polka-dotted cloth with a red background.

I turned it over and made hems on the longer edges.

Then apply glue onto the hems, and fold both sides inwards,

making some sort of mending.

There you go, you have got a smaller rectangle.

Fold the good side in half to make a bow.

Add hot glue in the creases so the bow gets firmer,

then wrap a strip made from the same cloth around the center.

Minnie's bow is good to go! Stick it next to the ears.

Now we are talking!

Your super cute coin pouch is good to go!

I am sure all your friends will fall for this Minnie when they see her!

I will reuse corrugated cardboard in the next idea.

I am using a two-layered corrugated cardboard because it is firmer.

I cut it out in this shape, with the head cut out at the top,

and a 15cm x 20cm rectangle at the bottom.

Let's cut four of these corrugated cardboard shapes.

If the cardboard you are using is thinner, then cut out more of these shapes.

I separated them in two parts, stuck one to the other,

and wrapped them in black EVA.

It should look like this.

I will stick a red square at the bottom of one of the sides,

and add two yellow circles to simulate Mickey's shorts' buttons.

Repeat the same procedure for the other two shapes.

Now we will need more of these thick corrugated cardboard sheets.

Cut them out in a 25cm x 12cm rectangle. We will need three parts like these

to stick them onto the other so they will form a stronger whole.

Wrap them in black EVA and stick red EVA to the sides.

Time to assemble our Mickey shelf!

I will stick two of these pieces at the back to build up one shelf.

Apply tons of glue to the sides so the shelves will be tightly stuck.

Then add the other Mickey shape to the other end.

The shelf is almost good to go, but to make it firmer,

I have cut 25cm x 4cm strips and covered them with red EVA like this,

leaving one of the sides uncovered.

Do four parts like this one, and stick one at each side of the shelf,

two parts at the bottom, two parts at the top.

Now we are talking, it is ready!

You may keep anything you like on it!

I decided I would organize my nail polishes and my things to do my nails.

It looks adorable, guys, I really, really, really love it,

but I am so biased to say this, as I am a huge Mickey and Minnie fan!

Hi friends today we'll learn the fast method of multiplication with 11.

If you don't know table of 11, no problem, we got the solution .

Let's take any random number like 24 here and we are going to multiply with 11.

First we'll write the number 24 with a little bit gap in the middle.

Now we'll add the two numbers and write the answer.

Here 2+4 is 6.

2 and 4 will come down from both sides,we get our answer 264.

Now the number 59, we'll multiply it with 11.

First write 59 with some gap.

Now simply add 5+9, the summation is 14.

4 goes in middle,1 becomes carryover,

that got added with 5 and become 6.Our answer 649.

Our final example, 78X11

we'll write 78 with some gap, now add 7+8,

answer is 15.

5 will go in middle and 1 act as carryover

and will get added with 7 which will become 8,

our final answer 858.

Spring Soil Preparation – Family Plot - Duration: 8:01.

All right Mr. D, let's talk a little bit about soil prep, so where do you wanna start with

that?

- Ah, the best place to start with soil prep is by getting a soil test, that's the best

thing, you know, don't guess, soil

test.

And the best time to do that is now if you haven't already done it; it's always best

to do it in the fall if you're

under ideal conditions.

And the main reason that you wanna do it early is because you're gonna get a recommendation

online

probably if your soils tend to be slightly acidic in our neck of the woods, and most

garden vegetables need a relatively

high pH between 6 and 6.5, and it takes lime a couple of months, two, three months to bring

the soil pH down.

Now, with that

being said, if you haven't done that, go on and listen to a soil test now and then you

go on and plant your garden, and it's

best to put lime out now than to not put it out at all if your soil needs it.

Now, the only time I've seen cases where you

did not need lime, you know, once every three years, two or three years, is if you scatter

your garden ashes regularly, you

know, ashes from your fire place or from your fire pit out in your garden spot.

But, you need to remove vegetation from

where you're gonna plant your garden, and you can do that with a tiller, you can do

it with, you know, chemicals if you want

to or a hoe or somethin' like that, you need to remove any unwanted vegetation and get

in there and till the soil, do not do

that when it's wet.

And, you know, if your soil has a fairly high level of clay and if you can pick up a wad

of it and

squeeze it and water comes out of it, you don't need to be out there working yet, you

know, give it a little bit of time,

let it dry off.

Because those clots, when they form, if you work the soil when it's too wet, they will

stay with you

throughout the growing season, and you know, they don't just dissolve, unfortunately, and

it interferes with the seed to

soil contact and root soil contact, so make sure your soil is dry enough to work, you

know, when you get out there and work

it, till it, work it up.

If you want to try to garden a little bit earlier than normal, you can throw ridges

up in the fall,

six to eight inches tall, you know, or pull ridges up with a rake, you can do all these

with hand tools, and that will allow

the soil to dry out a little bit quicker, and it will get a little bit warmer in the

springtime, you know, if you're

gardening on ridges, you can do that.

You know, back in the old days, we would go in there with a break and plow and break

it, and then we would disc it, and then we would drag a harrow across it, and then lay

out the rows, and you know, put seed

in the ground, and all of those things could be spread out over months, you could break

it in the fall, you know, disc it in

the spring, or you could do all of that at once, so there's a lot of different ways to

prepare your soil.

The soils that we

have in this area, here in the Mid-South, for the most part, tend to be pretty good

soils.

We do have some soils that make

be a little high in clay content, if you have a sharky, gumbo, bless your heart, you do

need to mend that with organic

matter, maybe some sand, things like that, but if you have a silt loam, and you can look

at there's a soil survey in every

county, in ever state of the Union, and you can go and you can, if you don't know what

type of soil you have, you may think

you know what type soil you have, but if you go look at your soil survey, you'll be able

to determine exactly the name and,

you know, what type of soil you have, but, a lot of people in this area automatically

assume they have too much clay in

their soil.

Clay is a very valuable component of the soil; it helps the water-holding capacity of the

soil, so you need some

clay.

- [Chris] Helps hold nutrients.

- And the only place that we have really, really the sharky soils and the gumbos really

are in the river bottoms, and if you

happen to have a house that was built on a river bottom, then you may have a very very

heavy clay soil, but most of the

soils are silt loams, you know, when deposited loess-type soils, and they're just ideal for

growing things, and if you don't

believe that, look at the size of the trees that you have growing around your yards and

in the neighborhood and things like

that.

- Right, I actually heard Mr. Jim mention that before in one of your talks, I mean,

you have to have a little clay in your

soil, right?

- Yeah, clay is good.

The main thing is you wanna grow plants that enjoy that, you know, there are a lot of plants

that

don't like that thing that we sell in the nurseries, and so a lot of people fail with

plants just because it needs to be up

elevated, needs a much sandier soil, drain much faster, percolation rate through our

clay is very slow, and when you dig a

hole and particularly if you over-improve it by putting lots of what you think is good

stuff in there, you know, it just

becomes a soup bowl of water, and then the plant just drowns basically.

- [Chris] Good point.

- Yeah, and you need to be careful about, many times in our landscaping and things like

that, we might interfere with

drainage, you need natural drainage, and if you have somehow set your, you know, using

beds or by setting up berms and

things like that so that you hold water, then that's not a good thing, so you need to allow

the water, don't allow water to

stand basically, if you can help it, and if you do have water standing where your garden

is, then I would ditch it or try

to, you know, fix some way to get that water on off there, so it doesn't stand.

A lot of plants don't like wet feet.

-Or plant rice!

- Yep, plant rice, rice does okay, yeah, but a lot of plants, most plants don't like wet

feet.

Cyprus trees do fine and

rice.

- Right, and definitely a lot of your vegetables don't like wet feet either.

- They do not like wet feet, they do not, but if you do all that, soil test.

Now, if you haven't soil tested, then you can

put, I hate to do rules of thumb, but there is a rule of thumb if you want to put a garden,

and you can garden now.

I mean,

you could have been gardening all winter, you know, there are cool season vegetables,

I grow onions and radishes and things

like that, you know, this is not too early to start gardening right now, however there

are a lot of vegetables that you

don't wanna put out until after the average date of the last killing frost.

And you know, that's gettin' close.

It won't be

long and it's gonna be time to go with everything, but a rule of thumb in the absence of a soil

test, use two to three

pounds of 6-12-12 fertilizer or its equivalent per 100 square feet of garden area, you know,

if you haven't done soil

testing, and you're wanting to garden pretty quickly, you can put that out there, broadcasted

evenly over the soil surface,

incorporated into the top six inches of the soil, and you'll be okay, but get a soil test.

And that way, you'll know whether

or not you did too much or not enough.

Real Estate Listing Syndication Address Corrections, Hiding, and Unhiding for Listing Syndication.

On that (hopefully rare) occasion

when the street address for a listing

isn't recognized by the USPS database,

you can click on the "Edits" tab to

gain access to submit a correction.

Just open the HAMBURGER MENU,

and select address verification option....

...and select the listing which needs correction.

Type in the corrected address....

...set it to be hidden if that's what the seller wants....

...and then click the "OK" button

to submit the correction.

Click the button at the bottom

to return to the address selection menu.

To hide or un-hide a listing address,

just open the HAMBURGER MENU

and select that option.

Find the address we just verified from

the "hidden addresses" list....

Click on it if you want to "un-hide" it.

Now switch to the "unhidden addresses" list

and you will find it there.

Academy where we have more detailed videos stop don't go in play whatever

you do when you're trading don't go in play because it will absolutely kill you

now I know that you would know this already but what I'm going to do in this

video is explain to you specifically why you shouldn't do that

but also give you a solution that will help you overcome that difficulty of

trying to take stuff in play but let's first of all examine the mechanics of

why it doesn't make any sense to take something in play for you don't intend

to now as you know my specialist area is pre off racing that's what I do

that's what I'm really good at and I do dabble around in in play stuff and I

know and play really well I can read a race beautifully now funny enough but

there are people that are better at that than me and they're likely to be on

course so I do some automated in play stuff simply because I think that

catches momentum in either direction but in terms of sitting and watching a race

I tends to as soon as I finish trading one race I tend to start looking at the

next one and start preparing and looking for opportunities in the next race

especially in the summer but so you know what I'm trying to say here is I don't

go in play intentionally but I will tell you that even I have gone in play and I

can give you a funny story as to how that happened so I remember it really

well it was at great losses was called then not at jumps for cities that is

called now and it's burnt on to my mind because it was so painful and I was

sitting there watching the race and my trade wasn't going particularly well I

was hanging on a bit to put the closing position in and you know waiting for you

basically things were not going particularly well and then all of a

sudden they took a turn for the worse when the market went in play and I was

left there open mouth going what just happened there cuz I was looking on the

TV I could see the horses were still being loaded so why was the market in

play but what I didn't realize that I'd done is

actually paused the pitchers and then restarted them again and that like 15

second gap had left me behind what was going on in the market real-time and

then suddenly I was in play with a huge liability and things just sort of spiral

out of control from there and everything was just getting worse and worse biggest

ever loss that I've ever made in my entire trading career but the

interesting thing was my reaction to it because you know first of all there was

the hot flush then there was the anger but thankfully they both only occurred

for a brief period of time and then what I did was I just dumped my entire

position I just realized that in fact I'd made a mistake and I had to get out

there was no you know it was going to be painful I wasn't going to enjoy it and

it was going to be a nasty little loss but I just had had to get out so I

dumped everything can took the loss and then went off for a walk for five

minutes to gather my thoughts before settling myself down and starting all

over again but you'll be interested to know even when that occurred I still

ended up by the end of the week so there's a moral in that story somewhere

but also consider this you know this will stop you from going in play say we

have a thousand pound I'm not gonna say that you've got a thousand pound but I'm

just using a big number to reinforce this particular viewpoint we're trading

something that's odds on so the odds increments are moving one percent at a

time so if we get that one trade correct and we trade a thousand pound say at two

and we lay it back into the market of one ninety nine we make the grand total

of ten pounds so we've risked 1,000 pounds and we make ten now that is

trading for you because trading is all about getting a percentage return on

your overall stake so that's perfectly normal as long as you have the positive

and the negative in balance you'll be able to trade just fine but of course we

have two edged that position as well so our 10 pounds suddenly becomes 5 because

we have hedged the position into the market so a thousand pound has produced

a point zero five percent profit or basically 1/2 hundredths of our steak

so if you want to trade that way and you want to do those things that's fine as

long as you've got your risk in your reward in balance because if you balance

both of those out you'll be fine you're not going to do any damage to yourself

and capital preservation is key when you're trading so what you're doing is

you're risking money in the market you're putting money in and then you're

taking money out because you can only ever return a small percentage and on

this particular case we're saying we're going to get a half a percent to return

so ok we're only going to get half percent on Arthur's we're only going to

make 5 pounds when we put a thousand pound through the market let's take that

in play and see what happens so we back a horse at a fat

odds of two for a thousand it goes in play and everything goes disastrously

wrong and in fact the horse misses the kick goes wide on the bend and suddenly

his odds 16 20 or whatever you can't take a loss because the potential for a

loss of much much larger arch is huge and then of course he could come back in

win the race being Salt's law that's something that he could probably do so

taking a loss is going to feel painful for you at that particular moment in

time so if you decided to just let that run and you lose your thousand pound

this is the mountain that you're going to have to climb to get that thousand

pound back we've already said that you're only going to make half a percent

return on that thousand pound so in order to win back the thousand pound

that you just lost on that horse that missed the kick and went wide and ended

up losing easily you're going to have to do 200 successful trades to get that

back 200 successful trades and that's 200 in a row maybe you don't do it in a

row maybe you actually go 150 lose a bit then win a bit lose a bit with you can

see it's gonna take in and Norma's amount of time to get that money back so

so what's the solution to that well it's pretty obvious really you should just

dump a ground on the favorite in the next race and hope that he wins of

course you should no don't do that but that is the instinct that people find

they blame what happened on something else so when when I had my PVR on and

and missed the start I could have just sort of said our while you know I'll let

it run and then maybe that turned into a loss and then I thought

well it wasn't my fault and it's not going to happen again so I'll just dump

a couple of grand on the next race in which case that loses and it's like well

if you would so can you see you end up trying to justify the main story and no

don't do that you you're into the market you're out of the market you hide your

position and that's it you hedge it for a profit for a loss whatever is you

hedge that position because that allows you to move on to the next race and do

whatever you need to do on that particular race

what you don't do is try and avoid the loss and you don't take it in play

because the odds are in - you're going for one tick profit over here and you're

going from minus 200 over there that is not going to work doesn't matter how

clever you are how many times you do whatever you do that's not going to get

you out of jail so you have to exit at post time or just before the race has

started and to get that thing back into balance if you don't do that you just

it's a road to disaster you can't do that if you want to have a gamble on a

race set up a separate account and gamble on that but don't do it on your

trading capital capital preservation is key you must retain that trading capital

in order to live and fight another day and throw another hundred races to

around however many you need to do so yeah don't go in play because there's

nothing that will compensate for you when you lose that trade you may get

away with it 50 times in a row but on that one occasion that you don't get

away with it you're in big trouble and you will not be able to recover the loss

so what do you do about it well I've said already that you should open a

trade close the trade and hedge whatever that is whether it's red or green at

post time but you'll be interested to know that I very often take things right

to the wire so if I've got a decent trade or even maybe a losing trade that

I think is about to turn out good then what I'll do is I'll hold and hold and

hold and hold and hold that position however you can there's a little trick

you can use you can hold the position right until the horses jump and then

exit at that particular point and it doesn't involve exiting in play how do

you do that you take SP and this is one of the little tricks that I'll use now

and again where I'll trade as much as I can and for as long as I can within

market and then I'll probably get out before posts home but very often what

I'll do is if I think I'm about to get matched on something for good or bad

I'll take it to SP an SP was originally designed for

people who wanted to just have a bet they didn't want to trade and they just

wanted to get on it but whatever the price was composts time so SP was

designed for somebody with the 10 or a fiver who just wanted to back the

favorite at 3:30 didn't wanna have to think about it didn't want have to put a

price up on the exchange and do anything he'd just say a tenner SP on the favour

in 3:30 so it was never designed for trading but in fact from a training

perspective it's a really nice little get out of jail clothes because what you

do is as you approach posts time you just turn your closing position into a

take SP order now it won't hedge it because you don't know what SP is SP is

very likely to be the last traded price but you can't absolutely guarantee that

so you will have to hedge it in play but nonetheless generally that will get you

out our posts time now it works slightly differently and different exchanges so

on Betfair SP resolves slightly differently from on bet tag he tends to

find because there's lots of on course players you get SP s sort of resolved a

few seconds after post so for example SP doesn't work so well on shorter races

because if a horse gets a good start that will influence the SP on bed deck

they introduced X SP not so long ago exchange SP and that seems to work

pretty well and it doesn't seem to suffer from the same characteristics it

resolves to a much tighter book than you tend to see on Betfair but you can use

it on both of them and I do fully use that and the way I'll do it is as we're

coming towards post time there's a number of ways you can do on bet angel

you can click on the take SP button but you can also use the thing like a safety

servant that will take all of your orders to recipe anyway so if anything

happens or you adjust the PVR incorrectly or you accidentally go and

play it can actually take all of those orders to SP for you so it's worth

checking it out we have a safety servant and take all SP on the forum I'm pretty

sure we have it's very easy to create one or you can either do it within

automation as well so yeah you can click the take SP button or you can use

a safety seven or some automation to take something to SP but it was never

designed for use as a trading function and it was but accidentally become a

very useful way of exiting a trade at post time because what happens is you

put your water to SP it gets matched in SP and then you just hedge it as the

race gets underway the most important part of the trade is done it's closed

your position you just have to apply the hedge you know that particular moment in

time it's probably a good idea for me actually it's do a couple of videos or a

video to just show you this in action the thing you need to be aware of is

like if you put 10,000 SP you're going to distort the market because SP is

formed between people on the backer and the layer side so you can't use it for a

ridiculous amounts of money however is there and it's a really really useful

way of being able to exit a trade without going in play

Hostas – Family Plot - Duration: 8:43.

We have a lot of hostas on the table.

Can you tell us a little bit about hostas?

- By jingy, I can, yes I can, okay?

Well, first thing: hostas prefer shade, all of them prefer shade.

There are some that

are quite sun-tolerant, but even by the end of August, even those look a little ratty,

so to have your best-looking hostas,

shade is always the best option, and the nice thing about them is they'll tolerate extremely

dry shade, right up on the

trunk of an old tree, and they'll make their own space and come back year after year where

a lot of plants just won't take

the competition from the tree, so they're great plants for dry shady areas, lotta good

plants to go with 'em, but there's so

much variation in them too, you know, with either veriegated yellow or variegated white,

whether the yellow's in the center

or on the edge, the height, the flower color, some are purple, some are white, there's one

called Aphrodite that's double

white that's very fragrant, so there's a wide range of options with them, and so we brought

a few here just to give people

an idea.

We'll start maybe with the minis maybe here on the corner.

Minis are what it says, very very tiny hostas, and most

of them don't get very big at all.

Now, they're not used a lot in the garden unless you've got really a little centerpiece

where you wanna have it or a fairy garden or something like that.

They're really used more for containers.

They'll take

abuse; you can leave 'em in there all winter long, not water them, and they're fine as

they can be.

- [Chris] And they'll still come right back?

- They'll come right back, and they'll come back thicker the next year, so and most people

overlook that in container plants

if you'll use two or three perennials, even combinations of hostas, all you gotta add's

a couple a annuals, and you got

season-long color, you know, with the foliage and the hostas, so it's really a great plant

to complement your patio set,

patio plantings or in the garden, you know, if you've got a really dark area, some, like

this one we've got right here,

Designer Genes, this is so, so bright yellow, and that's Designer Genes, G-E-N-E-S.

Now this was one of the first that

actually had a red petiole which you can see right here maybe on the side, and flower arrangers

like this a lot because it

really stands out with the yellow and the red, so it's a great hosta.

Another one here, this is probably my favorite blue,

this is Hadspen Blue, as it matures, it will be a steel blue and holds that color all the

way 'til fall, absolutely

magnificent and it multiplies rapidly.

This one is one of my favorites, High Society with a yellow variegation in the

center.

It's also an excellent, holds that color, doesn't fade in heat, it's really really a

good one.

This one's been real

popular the last couple years, Remember Me because also it changes a little color and

becomes a little lighter as the season

progresses, but it's a stunning, stunning hosta.

And then you have all the ones that are different, okay?

Like, this one

right here, this one was hosta of the year a couple years ago: Curly Fries.

It first comes out in the season, brilliant

yellow and then greens up as the season progresses, so it's really a very neat hosta, okay, it's

good for the front of the

garden, and of course you use the taller ones in the back.

And this is one right here that I like, Ivory Coast, for a tall

one to have some darker colors in front of it.

It really stands out and lightens up your shady areas.

And this one right

here, this is the mamma jamma of hostas.

This one is Empress Wu, it gets very large.

I've seen these in pictures up to four

feet tall and that's just the foliage, that's not the flower.

They'll be eight feet wide and have leaves on 'em that are 15,

16 inches across, so it's a huge hosta, and this year, I haven't been able to get any,

there's a variegated one called, are

you ready, Wu Hoo, so you know they name these things, so that they're attractive to women

and some to men, you know, I had

to have Komodo Dragon, I had to have Captain Kirk, okay, yeah, that's a hosta.

I had to have Jurassic Park, you know, but

there are so many of them that have names that, you know, you could care less what they

look like, you just want 'em because

of their names, so these are great, great perennials that come back year after year.

- How many varieties are there?

- Oh gosh, probably 4,000 or better, you know?

- That is a lot.

- At the Botanic Garden Plant Sale, we'll have 208 varieties and maybe more by the time

the plant sale gets here, but we've

got all shapes, sizes, colors, and the really neat thing is so many of them will sport additional

ones, I've got right now,

some Francees which is normally a very light white edge around it.

It's sporting solid white leaves, so hopefully it will

have some green in it to support that, but, you know, my luck it won't, it'll fold, but

it's really, really cool to see

these unique color patterns come out.

One time I had a Sagae which looks very much like this that turned out solid yellow

and it was great and one that was even half yellow, half green, you know, it did that

for the first four or five leaves and

then it would get out of it and did that every year, so kinda unique to watch it.

- Okay now, we're talkin' about hostas of course, let's talk about voles because any

time you talk about hostas, people

think about voles, okay.

- That's right, you know, they will pick out your most expensive hosta and then work right

down the price list, you know,

they like to tunnel under mulch or they like to follow mole runs, okay, so that's one of

the first things you wanna do,

avoid mulch, okay, that way, they don't like to get out in the open, so if you'll avoid

that, and then we'll show you in a

little while how to use some soil perfector which is basically a ground up rock to prevent

voles from getting access to the

pip and destroying your hostas, so there are some ways to do that, and we'll show you how

here shortly.

- Okay, what about any other diseases that we need to know about with hostas?

- Well, there are a few diseases that hit them.

There was one that came out a few years ago, Virus X, and it manifests

itself differently in different hostas.

Some would, you wouldn't know it even had it.

Some, it would cause them to be very

corrugated, some they would get streaks or ripples in them.

And so it varied from each one, but it was only moved by man,

basically.

If you got the disease on your cutters cutting off, you could pass it to another one.

It did not appear to be

spread by insects, and the nice thing was, you dig it up, throw it away, you can plant

another one back in there because it

doesn't seem to move back into the roots in any way, so...

- [Chris] That's good news!

- Yeah, in fact, there were half a dozen new cultivars entered that actually were just

Virus X mutations of old ones, so

once they figured that out, then they weren't cultivars anymore, so yeah, pretty cool things,

and one thing you can also do

is some hostas, like, and this is one right here, doesn't like to produce pups, little

ones off the edge, and you can see,

these right here are already doin' it to my right, so what you can do is when the pip

comes up early in the spring and you

just see it, take a razor blade and make an x in it, cut through that basal plate that

you'll see right there near the

ground level, and you'll get one to come off of each of those, so you can get four pips

instead of one.

That's called raw

sizing, and it's a real good way to thicken a hosta quicker that's not cooperating.

- Okay, so razor blade, make an x.

- Make an x in through the bud just like you're cutting straight down into it, yeah.

- Okay, now will these hostas be available to the public?

- By jingy, I'm glad you asked that.

Okay, yes, all of these are grown by our volunteers at the Memphis Botanic Garden, we

have created a little volunteer nursery over there that's 100% run and done by volunteers,

and every dollar that's spent

there goes back to education, so it's great.

This year, we'll have over 700 varieties of plants and about 18,000 perennials,

so been a lot of natives.

- All right, so tell the folks to come on out.

If they're hosta-holics, there'll be plenty of hostas for them, right?
