Remorseful Trump Voters Whine "How Could It Be Any Worse?" - Duration: 4:39.

It's been quite some time since a media outlet put forth yet another story talking about

how regretful Donald Trump voters are these days, but there actually was one that came

out this week by Vice News, that caught my attention and really helped explain things

in a way that some of these other think pieces haven't done.

In particular, the Vice piece only talked to Trump voters who had previously voted for

Barack Obama in both the 2008 and 2012 elections.

So these were former Obama voters who voted for Donald Trump and the response, as you

would imagine, from most of them, was that they regret the vote for Donald Trump.

In fact, one of them went as far as to say, "I don't even see how things could get any

worse at this point with Donald Trump."

Then the news outlet did something even better, than just saying, "What are your thoughts

on Trump?"

They tried to understand why these former Obama voters decided to vote for Donald Trump

in the first place, and they even asked the question, "Would you vote if Trump was running

against Obama, would you vote for Obama or Trump?"

And they still couldn't answer that question.

What Vice has exposed here, through these former Obama, current Trump voters, is the

level of manipulation with which Donald Trump ran his campaign, and yes, some of them are

sorry about it.

They regret getting conned and they understand that they were conned, but they were conned.

The responses from the rest of these people who do not regret their vote for Donald Trump

and who do not whether they'd vote for Obama over Trump, are still conned, because they

still believe that Donald Trump is working for the middle class.

They still believe he's going to bring those jobs back.

They still believe that he's going to cut their taxes in any kind of meaningful way.

That is a level of ignorance, I should say, and I don't mean that in necessarily an offensive

way, but it's a level of ignorance that is very difficult to overcome.

Again, plenty of pieces have come out in recent months, showing Trump voters are sad, upset,

horrified that they actually voted for Donald Trump now that they see what he's about, but

this one dug deeper.

This one is actually worth a read, and there's a link in the description here, and I encourage

everyone to go read it, because this one makes you think.

More importantly, it puts the issue out there of, how do we reach these voters?

How do we talk to people who are consistently conned, but do not understand it yet?

We can put forth all of the data, all of the stories, all of the horrible racist things

that the president has done, and they still aren't willing to accept it yet.

That is on us.

We have a duty, everybody in this country, to help educate these people.

I don't mean ... again, don't mean this in a disrespectful or condescending way, we have

to help people find better news sources.

We have to explain things in a way that people can understand.

When they talk about Democratic politicians being elitist and snobs, to an extent I understand

that, it's not true, but the way they talk, the way they discuss policy, their snide little

remarks from some of the hosts over at MSNBC, condescendingly talking to their audience

as if they're the smartest people on the planet, and I know you know who I'm talking about,

that doesn't help.

What helps is actual conversations with these people where you treat them as equals, because

they are.

That's where we have to get.

Some of these people there is no discussing reason, there is no way to break through that

conservative shell that they have built around themselves, but these swing voters, that they

talked to in this Vice piece?

We can still reach those people, but it's going to take a lot of effort, and it's going

to take a lot of time, and it's going to take a lot of commitment, but if, we are committed

to doing this, we can change their minds and therefore, with time, change the direction

of this country.

Toxic Waste Is Flowing Down The Streets Of Houston And No One Seems To Care - Duration: 4:20.

While most of the media coverage of Hurricane Harvey focused on the people who were trying

to escape the floodwaters or the massive damage that had been caused by the floodwaters, and

yeah, even some taking some cheap shots at looters who were trying to get pairs of shoes

after they had lost everything that they ever owned.

Almost none of the media coverage of the damage caused by Hurricane Harvey has focused on

the fact that there is literally toxic waste seeping out of Superfund sites and other oil

refineries into the streets and waterways around Houston.

The EPA, led by climate change-denying Scott Pruitt, has done a couple flyovers.

He's done a couple meet and greets at places like the US Oil Recovery, and they didn't

see any damage.

They didn't see anything that should be a cause for concern.

Well, independent flyovers and the pictures taken by these groups confirm that at places

like US Oil Recovery, which is an oil waste disposal facility, has in fact had leaking

toxic waste coming out of their concrete storage facilities and into bodies of water in Houston

and into the streets.

We also know that while the floodwaters were still there, many of these Superfund sites,

these toxic waste sites, and these oil refineries, their waste was seeping into the actual floodwater

so that when the water receded it took all that toxic waste with it, spreading it all

over the city.

These are problems that will persist for years.

These are problems that are going to cause health issues for years, and yet the media

is not talking about it.

The EPA's not doing anything about it.

They're claiming, literally, that the problem doesn't exist, and the American public doesn't

seem like they care one bit either.

These are going to cause very real, potentially fatal problems for people all along Houston

who use those waterways, who drink the water from the ground.

They're going to have a lifetime of problems, some of them, as a result of these toxic waste

sites leaking water, leaking sludge into the streets and into the waterways, and nobody

seems to care.

Nobody's talking about it.

All the attention right now has turned to the destruction of Hurricane Irma, which to

be honest, has actually ... all of that coverage has left the airways.

Now it's about Hurricane Maria.

Oh, we got another storm to worry about, so we can't possibly talk about the lingering

damage of storms like Hurricane Harvey and how that's going to affect people for the

rest of their lives.

We have to start caring about the environment.

I don't care if you don't want to be a tree hugger, or if you don't care about climate

change.

That's your choice.

You're wrong, but it's your choice.

When we have instances of cancer-causing toxic sludge leaking into our streets, and our waterways,

and our drinking water, that's a problem that everybody should care about whether or not

you believe in the science of climate change, or whether or not you believe that we need

to protect the environment, because this is a public health issue at this point, and still

nobody wants to talk about it.

Nobody wants to think about it.

Nobody seems to care about it, because to hell with those people in Houston.

We've got our own shit to deal with, right?

These are problems that could happen anywhere in this country.

We have way too many Superfund sites.

We have way too many toxic waste sites, and all it takes is one natural disaster to turn

your town into the next area that we're talking about here with toxic sludge in the streets,

toxic waste in your drinking water, and then suddenly you're going to feel bad realizing

that you know what?

I didn't care when it happened to them, and now nobody cares when it happens

to me.
