Youtube daily report Sep 8 2017

Since our species first stepped out of Africa, man has taken his best friend on his voyage

to explore the world.

And with good reason, he's a protector, a fellow explorer, and a friend.

Nowadays from swank hotels to shacks in the woods from yachts to kayaks, our canine companions

can be found with us in the air, on the road, at sea and romping through the rough wilderness.

Heck, we're willing to bet he'll be with us as we travel to Mars and beyond.

But for now and a little closer to home, let's look at the top 10 best dog breeds to travel

with.

Hi, I'm Leroy and I'm Rosie and this is Animal Facts.

Let's get started.

But, before we start, take a moment to like and subscribe for more fun, fauna facts.

Let us know about your doggy in the comments below.

10.

Labrador Retriever

There's a whole lot of world out there to explore.

Why not bring along a travel companion who won't ask, "Are we there yet?"

every five minutes?

Gentle, active and easy to train, great for those traveling on the land, whether by car

or by RV, the Labrador Retriever is a natural on the road.

He loves to get out.

He loves meeting new people and he loves to explore.

This might not be the dog you want to take on a plane since he is so big and heavy, but

he's going to make a great travel companion.

Your Labrador will be up for any activity you choose to do, whether you want to take

a hike in the mountains or take a kayak out for a river adventure.

Since he needs quite a bit of exercise, he's an ideal pet for the active traveler.

9.

Golden Retriever

Like his cousin the Labrador, the Golden Retriever is more at home on the ground than in the

air.

This people-loving pooch wouldn't do well sitting in the cargo hold of an airplane,

but he's perfect for car rides, and you can count on him being friendly to people

you meet at rest stops and camp sites.

This active family companion likewise will be game for any outdoor adventure.

As long as he is with you, he doesn't mind a long trip.

Both the lab and the golden learn obedience skills quite easily and a well-trained retriever

of either type make outdoor adventures a pleasure.

8.

Yorkshire Terrier

The Yorkshire Terrier is fantastic for long-haul air travel because he is tiny and doesn't

need a lot of exercise.

The Yorkshire Terrier is commonly used as a companion dog and is very affectionate toward

his owner.

He is a perfect travel companion and will keep you calm when you feel a bit anxious

about your trip.

He'll do well on a flight or in a car, or any other mode of transportation you decide

to use.

His loyal nature makes him easy to travel with, as he prefers to stick close to mom

or dad.

Here's a quick tip: To keep your dog healthy as you travel, bring along a supply of his

regular food and some local or bottled water and be sure to bring any medication he needs.

7.

French Bulldog

The French Bulldog may sport a bit of a frown, but he is actually quite friendly and playful,

He is known for being easy to train, meaning he can be trained for travel.

He does come with a caveat.

This breed is brachiocephalic, which means his short muzzle could make it hard for him

to breathe in the cargo hold of a plane.

Some airlines have even grounded such breeds.

Not that we really suggest putting any dog in the cargo hold of a plane, but he's a

high-risk flyer.

6.

Boston Terrier

Like the Frenchie, you have to be careful with airline travel, but otherwise, the tenacious

Boston Terrier is ready for anything: from motorcycling to riding the rails. he has a

spunky personality and adjusts quickly to new situations.

If you travel often, you know that adaptability is a necessary trait.

And, Boston Terriers are known for being adaptable.

This companion dog does well in new environments and situations, making him a great companion

for the long-term road warrior.

5.

Dachshund

If you've been in an RV park you've seen a doxie, or two, or three, maybe even a pack.

Easy to travel because of his size and minimal grooming, he makes a good watchdog for your

motorhome.

A friendly, inquisitive breed, the Dachshund is generally adventurous and is willing to

try new things with his owner, including travel.

If urban adventure is more your style, this is the dog you want.

He's small, which makes it easy for owners to carry him around cities without issue.

While they make great travel dogs, they're not particularly friendly with new people,

unless well-socialized.

4.

Poodle

Of course you think of jet-setter when you think poodle.

This highly intelligent breed is one of the easiest to train of all dogs.

Combine that with his low-shed coat and his general love of adventure and you have a perfect

traveling companion.

If all that is not enough, he comes in three sizes to fit almost any travel lifestyle.

3.

Bichon Frise

The fluffy Bichon Frise is known for his gentle

disposition.

He is cheerful and easy-going, making him an optimistic pal for any type of travel.

The Bichon may be a small dog but he's hardy.

He also doesn't shed like other breeds.

These traits make him a great pet for the traveler.

He does, however, suffer from separation anxiety, so if your version of travel require leaving

your dog locked in a hotel room for long periods of time, he might not be the best breed for

you.

But if you want a dog as a constant companion on your travels, he's more than willing

to oblige.

2.

Pomeranian

A little dog is a huge plus when it comes to hopping on a plane.

The compact Pomeranian is ideal for airline travel because he can fit comfortably next

to your feet on the plane.

Easy to train and highly adaptable to almost all living conditions, Pomeranians love to

please their owner.

Don't be surprised if your Pomeranian gets more attention than you do on vacation.

Bonus Dog: Papillon

Nicknamed the "butterfly dog" for his beautiful, fluttery ears, the papillon is easy to train

and does not need a lot of daily activity.

Be aware that while the papillon can handle the heat well, he has a harder time in the

cold.

Pack an extra doggy sweater if you plan on traveling in chillier climates.

Otherwise, he's up for any adventure you are.

1.

Chihuahua

Have a long flight ahead of you?

The lovable Chihuahua is the perfect breed for you.

His little body doesn't require much exercise, which can make him the perfect pet if you

travel overseas.

The Chihuahua is an amazing travel companion.

He's small, so he fits in small carriers.

This also helps because you can carry your dog onto a plane and avoid large fees associated

with placing large dogs in specialized plane compartments.

If you're looking for a small and loyal travel companion, this is the dog breed for

you.

It's easy, and enjoyable to travel with this little guy.

What if the 'Kidnap a Wight' plot was good? - Making GoT Season 7 more believable - Duration: 4:08.

What if the kidnap a zombie plot from Game of Thrones season seven was good?

The problem that I had with the 'capture of wight' plot from this past season

was how idiotic and improbable of a plan it was.

Tyrion suggesting that Cersei will be receptive if they show her proof that the wights are real

goes against everything that Tyrion knows about Cersei

Tyrion sending John and company off on an extremely dangerous quest just because he thinks there's a

minuscule chance that Circe will agree to join them if they succeed is not a believable plotline

even in a world where there's dragons and magic. So the simple solution to this plot hole

is to make the quest to capture a white Circe's idea not Tyrion's

Cersei promises a truce to Tyrion and Daenerys if they can bring her a wight. The journey to capture one makes much more sense

Here's how I believe the plot should have played out

We start Episode 5 with Bronn pulling Jamie from out of the lake and being immediately captured

by some of Danny's Dothraki as the battle is subsiding around them

When Danny gathers everyone Bronn bends the knee along with the rest of the Lannister soldiers, but Jamie doesn't?

Dany declares that Jaime must die of dragon fire along with the Tarly's

Tyrion convinces her to keep Jaime alive as a bargaining chip

And she begrudgingly agrees repaying his debt to Jaime for saving him from being executed by Tywin years earlier

Danny burns the Tarly's for refusing to bend the knee and Jamie sees that Dany isn't messing around

Tyrion sends Bronn to tell Cersei that he's willing to meet to discuss the terms of Jaime's release

Cersei gets angry at Jamie's being held captive

But she eventually agrees to the meeting and sends Bronn back with her message

Varys goes to King's Landing with Ser Davos to meet with Cersei who was accompanied by The Mountain

Various attempts to convince Cersei that The Night King and his Army of the Dead are approaching and to agree to a truce

or else Jaime dies a painful charred death she agrees to the armistice

But she says that she needs proof of the threat beyond the wall so Davos can quip, "You need proof of the undead?"

"You have A seven-foot-tall when standing right next to you!" Nevertheless those are her terms

She wants a white delivered to King's Landing along with Jaime

Varys guesses correctly that she is just stalling so that she can show up her defenses in King's Landing

But it doesn't matter

She has the leverage of holding King's Landing and the knowledge that Danny doesn't want to burn it to the ground

or else she would have done it by now, so Verys has no choice

but to return to Dragonstone with the news that they have to go capture a wight in order to get an armistice

And can pick up Gendry on the way if people want that fan service

Most of Danny's Council agrees that the objective is ridiculous and will be extremely difficult

but if that's what Cersei wants for the truce then they will at least need to attempt it. Also Danny doesn't mind the plan because

She's still not totally convinced about the army of the Dead beyond the wall either

John says he should lead the mission to go to Eastwatch because he knows the north and the dead better than anyone

Danny says she'll allow John to go, but on the condition that she flies him there on her dragons

She doesn't have the patience to wait around while John sails all the way to Eastwatch

Danny can also take Jorah and Gendry if people want that fan service

She offers to fly over the wall and take John directly to some White's but Tyrion dissuades her,

Reminding her how important her safety is to their plan

So they compromise with her staying at Eastwatch with her dragons while John and company capture the wight

Actually, my next video is going to discuss fixing the island fight

But essentially the same plot points happen. The fellowship goes north

Captures a wight, Gendry runs back and alerts Danny who is already at East Watch

So they don't need to rely on time-traveling Ravens or teleporting dragons to save the day. And then Danny rescues them

but Vissarion dies

By using this version of the plot we get to eliminate several deus ex machinas. So Jaime and Bronn don't drift 200 yards away in armor

They're fished out by the Dothraki. And the fellowship doesn't have to sit on the island waiting for a raven and Danny to come from Dragonstone.

She's already at East Watch, but the main improvement is that the asinine weight idea is Cersei's not Tyrion's

It's suicidal, but it's a necessary part of the negotiation. At the end of episode 6

We're essentially in the exact same situation as the actual TV series, but the plot to get us. There is much more believable

My next video will be trying to fix the island battle beyond the wall from episode 6 and after that one is reworking the plot

To give Littlefinger the ending that he deserved

Thanks for watching and subscribe if you want more videos like this

Big thanks to Reddit user /u/Jax_Masterson for his post that inspired this video. See you next time

DON'T LET HUBSPOT NAME YOUR CHILDREN | AskMeJP Episode 10 - Duration: 3:42.

This week on #AskMeJP I'm gonna talk about how HubSpot revolutionizes SEO

with their new content strategy tool... called "Content Strategy" and also Google

AdWords is seeing some big changes in regards to automation and machine

learning

Hi everyone Jesse Perreault here from Soap Media. HubSpot, a leading provider in

inbound marketing and sales software just announced the launch of "Content

Strategy" a tool that will help marketers discover new topics to write about that

match the way people search and buy. To give you an idea Google receives more

than 3.5 billion search queries per day now the tool uses machine learning to

surface recommendations that are relevant to a user's business and

content that would perform well in searches. Using content strategy

marketers can find topics to write about and easily organize them into topic

cluster a topic cluster is an SEO strategy that focuses on topics as

opposed to keywords as I mentioned in a few videos back we see the way voice

search is affecting search queries while topic clusters is just one of the many

changes in SEO. The goal is to optimize existing content and build clusters that

will increase authority and organic traffic. Now one of my favorite

components is the data interpretation we'll be able to see the views and clicks

and most importantly see what kind of customers we gained from each topic

cluster now we'll be able to see what works and what doesn't. Earlier this year

Google launched a beta test that automatically launched machine generated

ads in small AdWords accounts now it wasn't well perceived in regards to the

controls in the environment of the beta now Google wants a second shot at it and

they're going to take advertisers concerns into consideration. A Google

spokesperson told search engine land "We always listen to our customers. We heard

their concerns around the initial experiment and so we have developed this

updated program to reflect those concerns"

over the last several months google has stated that ad groups containing three

to five ad variations have significantly more impressions and clicks than ad

groups that have one or two ads this will automate the buildup of ad

variations in ad groups but the overall aim is to understand what makes people

click as the models gain more feedback on what drives clicks they will be able

to adapt and change the ad format accordingly to give you better results

so what's the takeaway from this week's video well SEO is changing, the technical

aspects of SEO still exist and they're still powerful but there are new forms

and variants of SEO such as this content method I've mentioned that are changing

the way we approach it for instance you know the principles of value and

relevance still exist but the way that that's formed now is is much different

with topic clusters than it was before secondly Google continues to use machine

learning to increase the overall add relevance and give a better experience

thanks for watching this week's episode of #AskMeJP if you have a question #AskMeJP in the comment section below be sure to like this video and subscribe

MY BIGGEST ANNOUNCEMENT EVER!!! | BEAUTYSPECTRUM - Duration: 9:19.

MERCH LAUNCH

You

Okay, so

I'm pretty sure that most of you have probably got the general just at this video by now, but if you haven't I

Am bringing our merch, and it is currently live on sale right now

So I wanted to film this video because I really wanted to talk you guys through it

I could have just posted this on social media, and you guys would have understood the exact same

But I thought I wanted to sit down. I'm literally just filming this on my vlogging camera. It's just prop 2 up

I've got no lighting

I'm just sat on my bed looking a mess

Because I just want to have a chat to you about this because it's something I'm so excited for and also

super nervous to like show you guys this has been like my

little thing like my little project and not that many people have well nobody has helped me with it and

Nobody aside from my management have helped me with this like I've done this on my own

I have my friends to help me and Tom has obviously been a huge help but aside from like

Tom and management and me there hasn't been anybody else involved it's been very very small

I haven't even told a lot of my friends about this because it's so like

Nerve-wracking to me that I am bringing out product so if you didn't really gather from that video

I am bringing out three phone cases on two hoodies now

I have it all here so that I can show you so the first phone case is this one now

I love them all obviously I mean I designed them

But the this is my favorite one because the right there's like reasoning behind all of this

I don't want you guys to think any of it is like meaningless because

It isn't like everything I've designed have designed it for a reason and this one is the same as my channel header

HUGE ANNOUNCEMENT

MERCH

So if you go onto my channel at the moment on YouTube my header is this sky photo

And then I've used the original star print that I had on my very very first youtube banner

And I've just designed it like this

This is probably my favorite one the second one is the one that's currently on my phone

So that's this one now this was my previous YouTube header

So if you've been subscribed for a while you might remember this as my YouTube header so again

It is very very similar, and it's just got my beauty spectrum font at the bottom

I really really love this and then the last one is one that matches the hoodies

So it's in this like gorgeous off grey brown color sounds really strange, but I absolutely love it

And then it's got the writing in the baby pink which is the same color as the hoodie if you didn't color from the video?

And again it has my name on it at the bottom, but very small on this one and then for the hoodies

I've actually brought out two so this is the first one it is in this gorgeous baby pink color and

The writing says if you can imagine it you can make it happen

Which is the same as the phone case and then I've also brought out this hoodie in grey so it's the same

So I've got this gorgeous

Charcoal gray color with the writing on the pocket where a pocket would be

So obviously there isn't like an actual pocket

But if there was like that is where the writing would be

And it's got this really nice hood now in the videos me and my friends are wearing a size medium

And it is a little bit too big for me

But that's just how I wanted it like it doesn't fit me tie it

So I would say I feel smaller than I am I'm 5 foot 7 and

you're probably going to be okay getting a small if you're interested in buying them and

Because to be honest a small would fit me, but I've gone for a bigger size

So they will be stopped in small medium and large

So yeah that is what I brought out two hoodies and three phone cases

And I wanted to stick with the motto if you can imagine it you can make it happen because that has been my Instagram bio

Since I started this whole thing which was three years ago today, so today is actually

Beauty spectrums birthday if you if you want to put it like that and because three years ago today September the 8th

I created my Instagram account

and if you go back to my very first post you will see that that is the date that that is from and I

Made it with the hope of getting to 200 Instagram followers because that is what I really wanted and now I'm stuck here

Talking to potentially almost

74,000 of you which is

Incredible and like I don't want to just sound like I'm saying it for the sake of saying it, but I am so

Incredibly grateful that I am sitting here

I'm 17 years old

And I've just brought out a product range like obviously it's not like these aren't gonna be

Like the next zoella beauty or anything like that like it isn't that but it's something that I can like say it's mine and that

I've designed it. I've gone through the like production process. I know how they've been made

I know like how the pricing is working the bin to the side of it all and it's very very

Like it is it's complicated. It's a very long process, and I've watched people be like oh

it's been going on behind the scenes for ages and now like I really understand that because this doesn't happen overnight like this hasn't just

Happened since last week this has been

Ongoing since like April main time. I think now so

Four or five months. It's been in the planning process

Been in the production process

So I'm so excited to be able to finally share it with you

That is a link obviously in the top line in the description as to where you can go and purchase this

I also really recommend that you follow my new Instagram account

I've made a beauty spectrum much Instagram account it is on screen now go and give that a cheeky follow because I'll be posting updates

Giveaways information on possible new products because I don't want this to be the end like I know that

I've only just brought this one up. I am thinking of like more ideas if you guys like it

We are obviously we have to see how it goes, but I'm hoping you guys like it, and I'm like really

Excited and I feel so lucky to be able to do this, so I'm not taking this for granted at all like it's insane

So yeah head over to my Instagram

I'll be posting loads and loads of pictures of the products because me and my friends went on a photo shoot to be honest a

Lot of you guessed it like a lot of you knew because I kind of gave it away

But I wanted to do that to let tease you I didn't do that by accident

So yeah the pictures that we took that day will be going up across my social media

So I'm sorry if you follow me and you're gonna get bombarded with it because I really like the photos

We took so if you do want to be in

The loop with what's going on and in with the chance of winning some price because I want to do giveaways quite a lot with

It make sure that you are following my new Instagram account which is beauty spectrum underscore merch that is basically everything

Let me know down in the comments what your favorite

Product is and what you're thinking of buying because I would love to know if you're thinking of buying something

I mean yeah, I also I forgot to mention the first 50 orders are going to get a handwritten. Thank-you card, so

That is how I'm spending my next few days, so ahh

but yeah if you're in the first 50 you're gonna be sent a

hundred a note so if you want to get one of those make sure that you order as soon as possible because

Ya, thought was a bit more personal. Don't hums

pretty excited

But yeah, I'm gonna go be sure to be following my Instagram be sure to be subscribed for further updates

And thank you guys for making this possible. I'm sorry that I've literally just sat on my bed about to go to school

Looking a scruffy math

I just wanted to chat to you because I'm so excited and I started this whole thing three years ago

And if you'd have told me three years ago, I remember I was sat on my chair in my living room

I was just like in the arm telling you know what I'm gonna make an Instagram account

And if you'd have told me then that three years ago

Today like three it like three is on I would be sapped talking to a lot a lot more like

A lot of people potentially nearly like a hundred thousand people like potentially potentially it's not quite

but but India's and

Telling them that I was bringing out like hoodies and phone cases

I would literally have just laughing me like you are sounded so yours. Yeah, but oh my god. Oh my god

I could just sit here and say stuff like this all day, so I'm gonna go

But thank you guys so much you have no idea how much your support means

And has man and is continuing to mean to me like it means everything so yeah

I want to give something back to you guys. I hope that you are excited

I hope you can tell that I'm excited and I hope you really like the products like I want to know

When you get them, if you like them what your favorites are

And I want to see pictures of you wearing the hoodies and using the phone case it's like I want to see also make sure

You keep me in the loop my social media apps are on screen and always link below, and yeah, I'm gonna go

Thank you for watching

I love you all a lot, and I will see you tomorrow know, and I'll see you on Sunday with a vlog so yeah, bye

Yes, I used to love eggs. :) - Duration: 1:22.

Dude, didn't you used to love eggs?

I used to love eggs.

It was the only thing that I ate that was

not plants.

But then I dug a little deeper

and I and I saw what the

egg industry does.

It's so crazy.

These male chicks

the little babies that

they are that are hatched they have no use for

them. So they kill them.

Immediately.

Like they grind them up immediately when they're born.

And then also these chicks live

like in these tiny cages.

So what they have to do because they're so

miserable they peck at each other.

They laser off their beaks.

It's so terrible.

And then after two

years of laying eggs,

they can't lay eggs anymore.

So it's curtains for them.

They just they take them away

and turn them into rotisserie chickens

even though they can live like 18 years.

So it breaks my heart when I think

about these eggs and I think about these chickens their lifestyle

and their suffering.

And I I used to love omelets

and they're so good.

I just but I just cannot

anymore the taste

and the joy from that

food from

it doesn't outweigh the cost

of what it is.

So no.

I don't like eggs anymore.

"I have decided, that I have to get you, and show you what love is?"

"My innocent lover, my lovely lover,"

"crazy lover, naive lover,"

"My bangle says slowly,"

"My anklet says slowly,"

"Yeah! Your bangle says slowly,"

"Your anklet says slowly,"

"Your scarf, took my heart.."

"Your Bindiya, took my heart.."

"Yours and mine, it's a relationship of ages, the heart isn't attracted just like that.."

"God only makes these relations, and then makes us meet by excuses."

"You are in my memories, you are in my talks."

"You are in my breaths, you are in my paths.."

"My heartbeat says slowly,"

"My longing says slowly.."

"Yeah! My heartbeat says slowly,"

"My longing says slowly.."

"Your scarf, took my heart.."

"Your Bindiya, took my heart.."

How to Be a Millionaire - Duration: 4:09.

- Let's talk about how to be a millionaire,

I'll tell you how to do it.

I have, very proud of the fact that I have helped

well over 100 people build million dollar

businesses or become millionaires,

and I made my money building physical products brands

and selling products on the internet.

That's not the only way to become a millionaire,

I'm gonna tell you how everyone

becomes a millionaire though, and it comes

from creating something and getting that something

in front of enough people that want it.

So I don't know anyone who did not become a millionaire

without creating something, creating some value

in the marketplace, and that creating something

might be that they created a physical product,

it could be that they created a business,

it could be that they created something that they sold,

or it could be that they created

a portfolio of real estate that other people rent from them,

and they let it appreciate and they paid off the debt,

but it required them to create something.

Everyone wants to be a millionaire,

not everybody gets to be a millionaire,

because it requires you to create something,

it requires you to do something.

But there is no secret besides

creating something and working like heck

to get that something in front of the right people.

Now, I built my wealth, and I have helped

hundreds of people build their wealth,

by helping them to create physical products brands

and then get those physical products

in front of enough people by using things

like Amazon, Kickstarter, video marketing

to get their products in enough people's hands

to where they build really successful companies.

If that's a model that you want us to teach you how to do,

we do a regular training class that will walk you

through the entire model of how I built my businesses,

and how a lot of our students build their businesses.

If it's not the model that you want to follow,

the only way that you become super successful

is by creating value in this world,

is by creating something that other people want

more than the money that they give you.

And no one becomes successful by following

any other plan than that one.

If you want our strategy, our formula,

you can sign up for one of our training classes,

and we'll give you the one that worked for our students,

and the one that I work, and the types of businesses

that I buy, and that I invest in,

because it's what I know and what I believe

and I've seen to be the most

predictable in terms of success.

Hey, you know, Elon Musk, how did Elon Musk get wealthy?

Well, he made a car, he created something

that drives itself, see, he created something

from scratch that drives itself.

Now, I'm not smart enough to create

a car that drives itself, but I can create

physical products brands that are simple,

and that are predictable, and that's why I have focused

my businesses on developing physical products brands

and getting those products into the hands of people

by using good internet marketing strategies.

So if that's something that you want to learn,

it's something we can teach you,

you can sign up for one of our upcoming training classes

to learn how we build successful physical products brands.

Hope to see you there, thanks for watching.

Richard Dawkins Reveals How Science Really Works: Imagination, Intuition, Evidence, and Truth - Duration: 4:18.

The first chapter of 'Science in the Soul' is called 'The Values of Science and the Science

of Values'.

And it does, of course, give prominence to objective truth.

There is a kind of whispering campaign—more than a whispering campaign, sometimes a yelling

campaign—against the value of objective truth.

Science, I think, is committed to objective truth; we're committed to the view that

truth is independent of the cultural background of the scientist, for example.

So as I said in the book, an experiment done in a lab in New York can be replicated in

a lab in New Delhi, and if it's all done correctly in the same way they'll get the

same result.

Science's belief in objective truth works.

Engineering technology based upon the science of objective through achieves results: it

manages to build planes that get off the ground, it manages to send people to the moon and

explore Mars with robots, and land robotic vehicles on comets.

Science works.

Science produces antibiotics, it produces vaccines that work.

So anybody who chooses to say, "Oh, there's no such thing as objective truth, it's all

subjective, it's all socially constructed," tell that to a doctor, tell that to a space

scientist.

Manifestly, science works and the view that "there is no such thing as objective truth"

doesn't.

Science proceeds, I believe, in the sort of Popperian view that science proceeds by intuitive

leaps of the imagination, building an idea of what might be true and then testing it

by experiment, by observation, in the second phase.

It's a kind of Darwinian selection of mutation, which is provided by the imagination.

So intuition is very important, but it is important that scientists should not be so

wedded to their intuition that they omit the very important testing phase, and if their

hypothesis is disproved they should regard that as a reason to reject the hypothesis

or modify it, not a reason to just carry on doggedly sticking to the hypothesis because

they are intuitively committed to it.

The phrase 'critical thinking' is quite a cliché but it is immensely important.

And so I think that I really could sum it up by saying what we need is critical thinking;

we need to respect evidence, we need to respect the fact that the only reason to believe anything

about the real world is evidence.

The evidence must be assessed critically, preferably statistically and logically.

You cannot derive truths about the real world by intuition alone, by feelings alone, by

what feels good.

People who say things like, "All opinions are equally valid," or, "Well, it's

true for me, it may not be true for you."

Never tolerate that kind of thing.

The only reason to believe anything is true is that there's evidence, and everybody

should either look at the evidence for themselves or they should trust that the person they're

talking to has looked at the evidence in a scientific, logical, rational, critical way.

Just for example, I'm not qualified to assess the evidence of modern physics experiments,

I'm just not qualified.

So I have to trust—this is not trusting authority so much as trusting the scientific

method, which I know has been used by physicists whom I can't directly assess, it has been

used by physicists who are using the same techniques as I know work in my own field

of biology.
