Supra Deen - Runaway Boy (Official Video) - Duration: 3:14.Runaway boy, run away before they catch you.
Police inquires into your life, dogs sniff your tracks.
Ain't no good deal for you boy in the city you live in.
Ain't no good job for you runaway boy.
Runaway boy, run away.
There's a red house, far from their eyes.
The runaway boy won't come back no more.
Run away boy from this town and from your past.
To stay or to go: which charge will you be blamed for?
Ain't no friendship for you boy in the city you live in.
Ain't no girlfriend for you runaway boy.
Runaway boy, run away.
You'll be a tramp, far from these chains,
far from your parents, and far from God.
Runaway boy, run away and leave your bags.
This morning your alarm clock will not go off.
Ain't no family waiting for you in the city you are leaving.
Ain't no cat purring for you. Runaway boy, run away.
You'll be a wolf far from these chains,
far from what everyone calls love.

Goodbye, Things: The New Japanese Minimalism by Fumio Sasaki - Duration: 16:28.hey they're modern vegans and vegan curious, its Margaret and welcome back to
ModVegan. Today on ModVegan I'm going to be talking about Fumio Sasaki's new
book goodbye things: the new Japanese minimalism. this is a great book that I
really enjoyed reading and I hope you guys are gonna enjoy as well but before
I get into my review please be sure and give this video a thumbs up if you enjoy
it and also subscribe so you don't miss another great video like this one let's get to it.
goodbye things comes right on the tail of Marie Kondo's book the life-changing
magic of tidying up, and so I can forgive you if you think you've already read
everything there is to read about Japanese minimalism but I think that
Fumio Sasaki's book is a little bit different and let me tell you why. First
of all Sasaki is a Japanese bachelor in his mid-30s was 35 years old when he
wrote this book I think he's 36 now but the book is about minimalism from the
perspective of someone who is looking at it from more of a psychological
perspective it's less about how to make your house beautiful which is kind of
the focus of many a condos book and if and don't get me wrong I love the
life-changing magic of tidying up I've done a review of it which you can watch
here it's a it's a great book but this book is a little bit different it's
looking more at the psychology behind why a minimalist lifestyle is helpful
and its really looking at how minimalism can help us in our everyday lives and I
found it extremely helpful. I first read the life-changing magic of tidying up in
2014 so the year that it came out in English and I loved the book it was
really helpful I love the idea of you know using whether something sparked joy
as a deciding factor in whether to keep things or not it's a really good book
for giving you ideas about how to declutter your lifestyle about how to
minimize the amount of possessions in your space and for many years I've been
interested in probably ever since I read ascetic
authors from you know the Western tradition as a child I always wanted
less things I knew that was something that I knew made me less anxious and
made me feel a little bit more calm and it's not that I've always been good at
that in fact if you guys were to know me personally and any of you who do know me
in my personal life you probably know that when I was a student particularly
in university I was an absolute slob I'm creative and so in some ways I mean I
just always been a mess I I have tons of stuff everywhere you know it was just
very messy and I didn't have a lot of things but it was a mess
and when I got married to my husband my husband is much more minimal than I am
but he loves his things too but both of us I think both of us really caught on
to this idea that we wanted to have fewer things that we just didn't want to
be like our parents were then we wanted to be more free and less tied down and
we wanted our family life to be a little bit different as well I have to say for
me personally as a mom and as a wife and as a woman like I've just been
interested in leading a bit of a different life compared to the way that
a lot of people live and I found the minimalist lifestyle is very
complimentary to that that it kind of reflects the values that I personally
hold and you find that in this channel like even my decision to go vegan I want
the most simplicity in my life possible I want to reduce the amount of conflict
in my life and I and I think that's something that this book in particular
that goodbye things does very well it's about reducing that kind of mental break
within yourself that happens when you say you want something but you live a
very different life and that's something that Sasaki does very well in his book.
it's just a short little book, but it but it really is an honest and raw account
this person's life and that's what I just loved about it I loved that
Sasaki was very open about his struggles with with substance abuse with drinking
too much with trying to impress people with the things that he has with trying
to live this artificial lifestyle and and it was just very refreshing the way
that he was so open about all of it and it's not going to relate to everyone
there's plenty of people who will pick up this book look at the first few pages
look at his before and after pages and think this has nothing to do with me I
am you know not like this I can't imagine living this way and and it's
funny because in the book you will see if you look at the first few pages of
the book he does show kind of a standard bachelor lifestyle compared with his
post his minimalist phase where he has basically nothing and you might look at
those things and just think well this guy is a monk and I am NOT interested in
living that way but I would encourage you to go past the first few pages and
really get into the heart of what he's talking about in this book because I
think he's really talking about what happiness is for him and what it is for
a lot of people this is something that he gets into a little bit later in the
book but he talks about how happiness is really about gratitude it's about being
able to appreciate what you have in your life and making your life a more
grateful life about appreciating things about being authentic and that's what
this book is about it's about being it's about authenticity it's about being your
true self he starts out the book talking about how he used to collect cameras and
he would go to auctions and all these places and he'd buy very expensive you
know esoteric cameras just to show to other people that he loved photography
and it's not that he was lying necessarily he did love photography and
he did appreciate these cameras but he was also buying them because of a deep
set anxiety about what other people would think about him and a desire to
try and show people how cultured he was and he
the same thing with books I found that interesting as well um
Sasaki works for a publisher at least he did work for a publisher and since he
worked in publishing he was obviously a literary person owned many books owned
many he was interested in films as well on many DVDs and he said that he kind of
collected these things just to show people that he was that sort of person
that a person like that would own these things therefore he owned these things
and he wasn't really being authentic and he wasn't really thinking about what he
had but he was doing it more just as a means of display and it was very
interesting I really appreciated his discussion of that the frankness with
which he talked about it the frankness with which he talked about his abuse of
alcohol and things like that as well just talking about the ways that he
tried to cope with this deep set anxiety and depression in his life through
objects and I think a lot of people do this and I know I certainly do it and
I'm not the only one I think a lot of people try to make themselves
feel more comfortable with themselves through the objects that they own it's a
very common thing if you're not someone who does that then congratulations! and
you may not need to read this book. But for many of us, it is a problem and I see
this all the time with people but that is very much how they constructed their
lives they construct their lives around this narrative of who they should be and
he talks about this because he's someone you know in his mid-30s who's not
married he talks about the expectations that there are of him like the idea that
he needs to earn a certain amount of money live a certain lifestyle in order
to attract a future wife and mother you know those kind of things are really
important and I just I just felt that it was very honest and very refreshing
especially if you're someone in your mid-30s who is single
especially I think it's gonna be a very valuable book to you because it's just
about trying to live an authentic life and not just doing what everyone else
tells you you should be doing not listening to all those little mess
that tell us that we need to have certain things in our life and live our
life a certain way in order to achieve happiness because as he points out
happiness is not about getting those things it's not about achieving those
things it's about being grateful for what we have right here right now and I
just love that idea I love that he made that the center of
his book really it's about being grateful what for what you have right
here right now now there are some things about this book that are a slightly less
you know stellar I I struggled with whether to give this book four or five
stars on Goodreads I think I did end up giving it four stars for two reasons
which are very shallow. I I felt like he overly praised Steve Jobs. He talks a lot
about Steve Jobs, and I think with very good reason. The reason that he
holds Steve Jobs up is a minimalist is because Steve Jobs was a good minimalist.
I mean, even though he was a millionaire and everything like that (billionaire)
Steve Jobs did a good job of trying to create products that enhance people's
lives with minimal intrusion into their lives and so there there's something to
be said for that. The idea that Steve Jobs wore a uniform you know just kind
of tried to leave it lead a simple life so that he could contribute more to his
own creative endeavors I think that that is quite admirable and I understand why
Sasaki focuses on that so much. The other thing he does in this book that I
thought was a bit extreme and had trouble relating to was the fact that he
got rid of all of the towels in his house - and I think all the sponges as
well - and started cleaning his dishes and drying his body with the same towel. I
thought that was kind of gross, so that I found problematic. But bachelors do weird
things, so it doesn't really surprise me. Even though this book is primarily about
the psychology of happiness and trying create a more minimalist happy lifestyle
it also focuses on the nitty-gritty as well there are many tips in this for
doing a minimalist lifestyle more effectively the two concepts in the book
that I found the most useful for me personally we're the idea that you
should get rid of anything you've thought of getting rid of at least five
times so if you thought of getting rid of something for five times at least
then you should get rid of it you know like when you're thinking about
something in your closet and you think about it at least five times and you've
thought like oh you know I don't really need that
he says if you've thought about it five times you need to get rid of it and I
found that extremely helpful for me that was a very easy guideline that actually
did help me get rid of a few things so I really liked that the other thing that I
really enjoyed it in this book was the idea that things that you own can end up
owning you and this is something that not everyone may recognize you may not
have all experienced this perhaps you're lucky enough to live a very simple life
and not even to know that you lead a simple life but that's not the case for
most people I heard the other day from minimalists that the average American
household has 300 thousand items and each one of those items asks something
of you it's really not possible to live a life where you don't have any
maintenance concerns or anything like that if you own 300 thousand items
chances are most of those items are going to be asking you little things
every day and and this may seem a bit bluish but it's true you know if you
have a certain number of light fixtures you need to replace the light bulbs and
all of those fixtures and then it gets beyond that to replacing batteries and
items to cleaning items polishing items cars that need to be taken in for oil
changes and things like that it's very easy for our possessions to end up
running our lives and that's something that this book deals with very very
straight on and I think very well by looking at the way that our objects call
to us and really ask us to do things for them and his his ask is just just to
think about it think about the items in your life.
not you need to own nothing or you need to own a certain number of items, because
he's actually very critical of that of that idea that you know minimalism is
owning a hundred items or something like that -
he's quite critical of that and he says that we need to not get overly carried
away with getting rid of things, but we do need to try and think about whether
the items in our lives bring us joy, bring us value. And we need to decide how
much we personally can handle I have to say that this is something that my
husband and I think about all the time. We lead a very different life than most
families do we've struggled throughout our lives with the fact that though we
live differently my husband and I we have two children and yet we live in a
condo, we live in a inner city in a big city, we choose to own quite a few less
things, even though I'm sure we could get rid of many of the things that we have,
we we own a lot less than other people do, simply because we find that the
pressure of taking care of a home in the suburbs is far more than we would be
comfortable doing like we're just not comfortable with that we realized that
it's more than we can take care of if we and and especially for my husband if he
had a house that was calling to him constantly telling him to you know mow
lawn fix the gutters and things like that it would be excessively stressful
for him and you need to think about that in your life and that's what I really
liked about this book it's really more about you thinking about your own life
and less about them telling you what to do with your life it's not about Fumio
Sasaki telling you how many things you should own how you should live your life
instead it's about you deciding how you want to live your life and what really
brings you value what brings you joy and what allows you to be able to have
gratitude for the life that you have anyway it was a book that I really
appreciated I hope that many of you will read it I realize that it's probably not
going to have the same sort of sway in the public imagination as Maria Kondo's
book. It is a bit different it's looking more at the psychology of happiness
and of how minimalism plays into that then it is looking at how to get rid of
things because I think that in in the magic art of tidying up, Marie Kondo
does a really good job of telling you how to get rid of things. And that's
really not what this book is about. Ironically, "goodbye things" is showing you
how to live a more fulfilled life. It's far more psychological. Marie Kondo's
book is a professional organizing book. It's a book that shows you how to get
rid of things. So if you want to get rid of the things in your life,
read Marie Kondo's book. It will help you to declutter. But if you're stressed, if
you are feeling like you don't know what the meaning of your life is and you just
want to be able to create a more meaningful life, I found this book a far
more helpful book in that respect. And I really appreciated it for that reason. So
I would recommend it to all of you I think it's worth a read be sure and
check it out I'll put a link in the description box below in this video and
also let me know if any of you have read this what did you think about "goodbye
things?" Did you find it helpful in your own life? And do you guys think
minimalism in general has any value to you as a person? Is there something
that's valuable about this philosophy, about this lifestyle? I'd love to hear
from you. If you enjoyed this video please be sure and give it a thumbs up
and subscribe, because I'd love to see you in my next video. I'd love to talk
with you in the comment section down below and I hope you guys have a great day
Take care, bye!

OWC Thunderbolt 3 & USB-C Docks - Duration: 3:12.Hi, Sue Lawson here.
Still at NAB 2017.
I'm still the OWC Digital booth because they just got so much.
Including Best of Show, can I say it, can I say it, Best of Show how
awesome is this the Thunderbolt 3 Dock.
Single Thunderbolt 3 cable connects you have the 13 ports.
Plus it also charges your computer so you're
on the road and you come home, plug in.
If you go to the office bring your laptop
to your home will work.
One cable powers, charges that laptop plus
connects you to your world. It's got firewire, yes we kept firewire on this
It's got firewire 800, digital audio out,
standard audio out.
It has the SDHD card reader so you can read
that media from all those different cameras and such.
We got a bunch of USB Type-A ports.
We have a mini DisplayPort so you can connect display port, HDMI or DVI that's
all supported through it.
I said that thing already said audio in.
Either that's there so it's one simple cable that gives you everything you need for
your your daily workflow.
One last thing I'll add is on the USB there's
five USB ports four in the back one on the front.
There's also multiple USB controllers so the
performance of those ports is maximum.
That was somebody's heard.
We've heard about other docks after we put
our dock out there so why wouldn't you use multiple controllers I mean this thing is
built for high performance and of course high connectivity.
So whatever you're gonna connect to it can
handle it and it's again the convenience and frankly it gives you all the ports at Apple
took away anyway.
I love it.
Because there's a lot of legacy things out there that I still have to connect so this
allows me to...
Yes, you don't have to have, you know, 20 different dongles you just plug your dock in and go.
And again it's not just you're adding all those ports that you do need, that you do
have devices for.
Even having this way just having the convenience I'll be able to set your laptop and theirs
into place and connect one cable and you're done.
I mean, that's big.
As far as the form is concerned, it's gorgeous
it's lightweight.
I can easily throw this in my computer bag or my Pelican bag or whatever
bag it is that I'm taking with me.
That I got all the other equipment in there.
All the other equipment mostly from OWC.
Why?
I can't imagine. Take a look at this it's gorgeous.
It is definitely the dock to have.
Our Thunderbolt 2 dock is you know we continue
to offer that.
That has maintained the title best Thunderbolt dock now period.
And that still remains great dock for 2011 to even 2016 people were using with Apple's
adapter You know, the Thunderbolt 3 dock takes that
to the next level and we expect that to hold that title in the Thunderbolt
3 space for a long time to come.
At least until Thunderbolt 4 comes out.
Now there you go or we come out with a new dock.
man price point $299
Larry O'Connor OWC Digital.
It is the place to buy everything that you need, really
