While desktop CPU performance continues its inexorable advance with Rizen and the weirdly

named i9 the world of portable computing continues to try to adapt to this post-smartphone

world were we all expect portability while still having enough power to get things done.

From this strange environment the intel core m series was born.

With the letter m substituting the usual i, intel was aiming for the core m series to

fill a gap between the smartphone-like Intel Atom and the regular beefy i3s, i4s and i5s,

delivering the performance expected of a fully fledged PC while still being limited to a

TDP 4.5 Watts or lower.

Providing another option for passively cooled ultra thin laptops.

These were never design for gaming, I don't think you will often see a "gaming" laptop

with one of these but if we wanted… what would be the heavier games you could play?

To answer this question I got my hands on this device, the Jumper EZbook3 Plus.

Jumper is a Chinese brand that specializes in very thin laptops like this guy.

This is a metal body thin ultrabook that still manages to have enough space for a couple

of usb ports, a micro hdmi and a headphone jack.

But more interesting is what is inside this computer.

This is equipped with a dual core, hyper threaded, Intel Core m3-7Y30, an interesting CPU from

the core m Kaby Lake generation, right around the time when intel realized the idea of a

"high end intel core m" might be confusing and dropped the i5s and i7s from the line.

With a low TDP of 4.5 Watts it does not use active cooling and so it thinner than the

Xiaomi Air laptop that has become my main device.

And so it comes with a rather new Intel® HD Graphics 615 and 8 GB of ram.

So, being an intelHD and a low end CPU I started with CSGO with lowest settings and a low resolution

and oooooh.

The result where… better than I expected which forced me to reconsider the types games

I planned to make work here.

So let's try something more intense.

Something that caught my eye is that intelHD GPU is recent enough that intel has actually

released a driver that makes it compatible with Vulkan... which is why I wanted to give

Doom a try.

There have been a lot of discussion regarding the performance of this game due to the upcoming

switch port so I have been looking into the possibility of playing this game on an intelHD

laptop and this seemed like the perfect opportunity.

So of course thanks to the magic of Vulkan the game already maintained something between

30 and 40 fps even while in combat.

This is amazing considering that I have still not applied the extra tweak from my Doom on

Intel HD video that removes some of the game's shadows.

With that boost it did slightly better, all things considered this game is fairly playable

on this setup.

I wanted to change gears and wanted to return to an online game for the next test.

Overwatch using the same resolution either on windowed or Fullscreen using the tweaks

and recommendations from these two videos.

Overwatch was a really interesting case study due to the fact that it started to show the

performance and thermal limits of the CPU, bottlenecking the game quite severely which

was causing occasional stutter.

This is a good opportunity to remind of the importance of an FPS cap in order to mitigate

part of CPU bottleneck stuttering.

This also exemplifies another thing I wanted to point out of core m series CPU, even with

a TDP as low as 4.5 Watts it can still heat up quite heavily when you are using a passive

cooling system.

After all the m3 was not designed with the intention of gaming, and so this sustained use.

Which is not to say an actively cooled CPU does not overheat as well, but the core m

seems to be designed to get as much performance as possible before hitting its cooling limits.

If you can put up with the heat you can get some decent results. I was able to play a very successful match of Overwatch

using these settings on this computer, another unexpected surprise.

Finally I decided to give a go to the game that is taking away all my personal Overwatch

time, the recent free to play PUBG clone-competitor Fortnite battle royale using the settings

from my somewhat recent video.

This flipped the tables, once again being limited by GPU with the CPU barely keeping

along.

Curious enough the performance was acceptable and close to 30 during most of the moments

I encountered in my test match.

The GPU really started to suffer on some of the vast open areas of the map, even with

a ridiculously low draw distance enabled, something that can be improved by a more dramatic

use of the internal resolution scaler from the video.

So, in conclusion, while the core m series was never designed with gaming in mind you

can squeeze a fair a bit more from them than you would expect, specially when using some

of the fancier IntelHDs on newer chips.

A combination of lower resolutions and a healthy those of other tweaks can get

you somewhat gaming on some popular titles, specially if they have vulkan compatibility.

However, you need to keep an eye out on games with hefty CPU requirements that might push

the limits of the passive cooling that is often associated with core Ms. Consider an

FPS Cap or one of those fancy cooling pads if you still want to venture into those games.

It has proven to be a much better device than I expected with the only bad thing being that

the headphone jack next to the charger occasionally causes interference with certain headphones

but in general it might actually make for a good portable device where you can do some

gaming as well.

Hi, it's Jackie! Welcome on Apprendre le français québecois! Well... yes... I'm

back in my London decor! But I spent one week in Quebec and I

filmed all sorts of things that I'll be posting in the next months... Today

we will start with a video that I filmed in an appartment in Quebec. So I

went to Mont Tremblant and I rented an appartment over there so I told myself that we

could look at this together. We can look at the name of the rooms and a little bit at what

it looks like. But before we start, don't forget: you can put subtitles in French

start. I filmed the video and it was a little bit dark. I am sorry. We see

well the rooms but it's a little dark. So I'm sorry with it's a little dark but

I think we can still see well. Please note that it's an appartment

not a house. So there are a lot of Québécois that are living in houses

but I personally rented an appartment so I will show you an appartment. But

I think it looks like what we could find in a hous also.

With the bathroom, etc. It looks a lot like what we can find in a

quebec house. So let's go right away. Ok, so when we enter, we

enter here and so we have "l'entrée". So here, there is me and here "l'entrée" where

I put the shoes. So, in Québec, you need to take off your shoes. So we leave

the shoes here. In the house, in Quebec, we rarely keep the shoes. So we put them

We continue here... And we have some kind of mini-corridor. We have "la salle de bain", but before entering

in "la salle de bain", here, there is "une laveuse" (washing machine). So this here is "la laveuse". And here, we

have "une sécheuse". For "sécher le linge" (dring the clothes). So "laveuse, sécheuse". In "la salle de bain"....

Up, we'll light it up... We have "une toilette". "la toilette". We have "un lavabo" (sink) here. We have "un lavabo".

We have "un bain" (a bath). So we have "un bain" with "une douche" (a shower). Just here, we can see "la douche". So it's

"un bain-douche" (bath-shower). That's normal in Quebec to have "un bain" with "une douche". We continue...

There are "deux chambres" (bedrooms). So this... There is "une chambre" here. A nice "chambre". In "la chambre",

there is "un garde-robe" (wardrobe). We call this "une garde-robe" or "une penderie". So "les garde-robes" are

often like this. So in the wall in Quebec. And we have here some drawers to put clothes,

"une commode". So "une commode". And if we go to the other "chambre", it's the same. There

is "une fenête" (window), "un lit" (a bed), "des petites tables de chevet ou des tables

de nuit". "Un commode". And another "garde-robe". Here. So... Voilà! Now, please note that

it's not normal do have "chevreuils"... Yes, so the animal we saw dehind the appartment, it was "un chevreuil"

(deer). It's not normal to have this in... in the backyard! Sometimes we

might see so racoons or skunks. But not "chevreuils". And there

aren't any bears either! A bear? There are any of this... normally

in the backyards of the houses. Now this was special because we were at Mont Tremblant.

and it's a little bit in the forest. But that's not something we'd fin in Montreal

for example. Or in Quebec city. You really need to go out of the city to see deers.

Hello you beautiful snakes eagles badgers and lions! Welcome back to my

friendly neighbors Slytherin hangout! I'm Rebecca Felgate and today I'm gonna be

talking about something that's a little bit contentious in the Harry Potter

universe and that is the color of Hermione's Granger's skin. specifically I'm

asking "is Hermione black"? Now the whole conversation got a lot more heated when

Norma Dumezweni when he was cast as Hermione Granger in Harry Potter and the

cursed child Harry Potter and the cursed child is a clay which continues 19 years

after the last book set off basically that whole scene at the train station

where Harry's kids again on the trade and his sons like all below in Slytherin

but in it we see Harry Ron and Hermione once again but just as grown-ups now

Norma is a black female actress a lot of people were very confused when she was

cast as Hermione Granger although my question is why not I suppose when were

talking about this topic it opens up why did a bait about fiction and our

imagination how my skin color was once again brought up in national news

publication the BBC as a toronto-based artist shared the level of hate they got

for drawing a picture of a black Kamini some people in the Harry Potter fandom

have been very positive about black hermione others have said

they simply could never have imagined her that way

and others have actually been far more scathing some online trolls have even

said things like they couldn't imagine Ron marrying a woman of color which

seems like a very strange comment to me and there are of course worst comments

which I will not give them the gratification of reading out JK Rowling

herself said that normal was the best actress to the job she continued by

saying Hermione Granger can be a black woman with her absolute blessing and

enthusiasm so all that aside are there any clues in the source material asked

Hermione Granger's ethnicity we first meet Hermione aboard the Hogwarts

Express in Chapter six of Harry Potter and the

pistone this is her introductory sentence she had a bossy sort of voice

lots of bushy brown hair and rather large front teeth Brown is the second

most common hair color across the world every ethnicity is capable of having

brown hair so Hermione's tabby and brown really doesn't shed much light on the

color of her skin could Hermione be Asian well maybe

Hermione's hair is specifically called bushy now most common Asian hair is

pretty sleek by the way it doesn't paint Hermione as black or white as this

series continues we learn a little bit more about her we learn about her eye

color and Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets and I just want to read you a

sentence here her spirits were greatly improved by the fact that all the hair

had gone from her face and her eyes were turning slowly back to brown

okay so brown eyes the plot thickens even further in the Prisoner of Azkaban

when her skin color is directly referenced we read a sentence about Ron

Hermione and Harry meeting up after the summer holidays it says there they were

both of them sitting outside Florian forts Cuse ice cream parlor

Ron looking incredibly frankly Hermione very Brown both frantically waving at

him of course very Brown could be a sentence applied to both a black and a

white person she could have just been very very tan so this doesn't

necessarily shed any light on her and Nyssa t some fans have countered by

saying there are some sentences that describe her losing the color in her

face or being embarrassed but these are just emotion descriptions a game in

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire we find out that Hermione used a sleek easy

hair potion to slicked her hair for the Yule Ball a lot of people have drawn

comparisons between this and afro-caribbean hair relaxing products

but again none of this is directly indicative to race to be honest by the

fourth book we've all made up our own mind as to what Hermione looks like

anyway and maybe this is the point we all visualize something but it doesn't

mean we visualize the same thing Emma Watson was cast as Hermione Granger

consolidating people's idea of Hermione Granger being white at this point had

they cast a black child actress would we still be having this conversation I'm

not sure but maybe of course it's worth mentioning that Emma Watson herself went

to go see Harry Potter and the cursed child and loved the show she was happy

and Norma carrying on her character's legacy so when it comes to works of

fiction our imaginations surely has to be king for me something translated onto

screen is never gonna live up to how I imagined it in my own mind if the book

came first then no one can ever represent what I've seen just the way

that I've seen it for example to me Hogwarts was an amalgamation of every

school I'd ever been to coupled with a few castles my parents had taken me to

visit it was strangely familiar yeah unattainable magical at the second

time I even had my own ideas of what it might smell like and what the Gryffindor

common room might feel like these are things that no director can translate to

the screen of course I enjoy watching that Harry Potter movies that there are

some ways and some things done that I think now you know what chocolate frogs

cards didn't look like that in my mind but I'm happy to enjoy this movie seeing

a white Hermione Granger in the movie for me doesn't necessarily make it a

Canon fact within the bounds of literature presented it is very possible

that Hermione could be both black or white but really doesn't matter when I

first started reading Harry Potter I was a young white female living in a

reasonably privileged area of the United Kingdom I saw Hermione as white because

I saw myself in Hermione she's a strong forward-thinking

character and I wanted to be like her perhaps JK Rowling did initially

envisage Hermione Granger's being white because she were part of herself into

that character JK Rowling identified

being a Gryffindor and we can definitely see some of her traits into mighty

Granger as well as Harry some early illustrations of an artist that JK

Rowling worked with in her philosopher's stone era have been unleashed and they

do seem to present harmonious white but everyone is looking to identify

themselves in fiction we all just want to picture ourselves in some way in

something that we loved we're all desperately looking to identify I might

have seen a white Hermione but I always think that it's amazing that people of

other backgrounds saw themselves in her - Hermione Granger is a muggle born

wizard who is racially profiled by a lot of her peers and she stood up against

that in some ways isn't she the perfect icon for all people that grew up in

ethnic minorities waiting for their voice to be heard for this reason I

would actually very much celebrate of Black Hermione in terms of wizzing

standards Hermione was born from nothing she then attended one of the best

wizarding schools in the whole world and not only that she aced every exam that

she took she was better than a lot of people who had grown up totally exposed

to the worsening world she was an incredible student she was a great

friend she stood up for what she believed she stood up for the oppressed

she stood up for herself she survived a war she became minister of frigging

magic for me black white gold silver or green Hermione Granger is a queen and

that is that your vision might be different to my vision but I think when

it comes to works of fiction we should celebrate that we have the

luxury of being able to imagine something for ourselves Hermione Granger

is a fictitious character she's not a historical character so really she can

be whatever we want her to be and that is the beauty so guys I know that this

is a sensitive topic but I do want to hear from

Good morning, everybody

What's up? Today I'm headed out to an apple orchard out in California where it's actually cold

Which is amazing cuz it's been like 90 degrees here in the valley

Anyways, so I actually get to wear a sweater

I'm so excited although

It might get warm because the Sun in California like makes things super hot so I did wear a white t-shirt

Underneath which I hope we don't have to resort to but it is very possible

Also, you probably saw the beginning, but I'm wearing these boots

And my ripped jeans and this top so hopefully I can wear this outfit all day and not get too hot

But we'll see what happens it's supposed to be like 68 degrees

Which is so nice for me, but still kind of a little hot

but I'm so excited to do fall activities you guys know how much I love fall you see my blog posts on my website you just

Know I've been making pumpkin goodies like for the last two months even though

Hello lords and ladies!

I'm back from my 2 week break.

Yeah, yesterday was officially the last day of my little vacation and I have to say it

was fairly relaxing.

I didn't do too much besides binge Netflix horror movies since it is October, though.

I probably should have used that time to also play some games, oh well.

So, let's address the elephant in the room now that I'm back.

A two week break means two weeks of content that I've missed out on, right?

How will I tackle those?

Well first, let me say that on my first official day back, I already have some content for

you.

I know, I cheated a little and worked on this on my last day off, but I think it turned

out decent.

Today you'll be getting the first of three Halloween reviews.

Which also happens to feature the first ever face reveal.

If you've ever wanted to see who is behind the voice, well check out my review of the

short Vincent in a couple of hours.

As for the massive amount of shows I missed while I was away, I will be tackling those

with rapid fire reviews, a series of videos where I briefly talk about multiple episodes

as fast as I can.

There will be one for each show, so Marvel's Spider-Man, DuckTales, Tangled, etc.

It's the only sane way I can catch back up and continue to review the new episodes

of each show.

Now, despite this being my return, I won't really be getting those videos up next week.

I'll be using all of next week to work on the content I missed, but the reviews will

be going up the week before Halloween.

So the 22nd to 28th.

You won't be without new content, though.

I'll continue to report on cartoon news that comes up, you'll get some spooky gaming

content, as well as two other horror cartoon movie reviews (Night of the Living Dead and

Dead Space Downfall, specifically), and a review for the Halloween Spongebob episode.

I have a lot of fun stuff planned for this month and once I get myself situated, get

caught back up on videos, I will be able to deliver that to you.

ways to hiccup on purpose like a boss. You'll have the ladies drooling over you

by the end of this video. So this first way to give yourself the

hiccups is to chug a carbonated beverage. Go get that Diet Pepsi from your fridge.

I know you have one Margaret. Get that Diet Pepsi and chug it. If you can stand

the burn that can very well help you get the hiccups. You want to drink it fast

and drink a lot of it if you can. Don't hurt yourself.

The second way to induce hiccups is to eat spicy food. Spicy food can trigger

hiccups. It can do some messed-up thing to your throat nerve ending thingy's...I'm

very scientific. The chances of success with this method are a little smaller so

if it's worth the burn go ahead and give it a shot okay I'm not your mother so

don't ask me permission or not. I don't care whatever. For this third way to give

yourself the hiccups you are going to take a hot beverage and a very icy cold

beverage. You're gonna drink the hot beverage, then the cold beverage, then the

hot beverage then the cold beverage then, the hot [bad beat-boxing] Sorry.

These sudden temperature changes in your stomach can induce

hiccups. You could try the same thing with food. Hot pocket, ice cream, hot

pocket ice, cream [bad beat-boxing] I'm sorry. I'm not a beatboxer

I'm not a rapper. This fourth and final way of how to hiccup on purpose

is swallow mouthfuls of air okay. If you know how to make yourself burp start

doing it. If you keep burping that could very well help you trigger a hiccup.

Don't accidentally puke or anything because this could backfire. Well boys

and girls now that you know how to give yourself hiccups go ahead and smash that
