Youtube daily report w Oct 14 2017

Hello again and welcome back.

So, if we take a look at my board this week, I had some different vocabulary words; a

question on pronunciation, and even talking about the mythical origins of the Roman Empire.

But for now, let's stick with the vocabulary.

So the first word: tinker.

Tinker is to work on something unskillfully or clumsily.

For example:

He likes tinkering with electrical/electronic devices.

Or.

He tinkers on old cars for a hobby.

A setback is to have a reverse, a defeat or a delay in something; mainly a project.

For example:

The burnt hydraulic motor is a setback to the project.

Or, to set back.

The burnt hydraulic motor set us back two weeks.

And how about the pronunciation of these two words?

First, you have parched.

Parched is to be extremely or excessively dry.

He is parched after working in the field.

It means he's very thirsty.

Or perched; perched is to be in an elevated or high position.

The bird is perched on top of the tree.

So, there you have it.

You have: to tinker, a setback, to set back, parched and perched.

This time, we are in Sicily

We start from Palermo, all the way up to Brindisi

We travel on these tuk-tuks

A journey that is gonna be very slow

It was nice to come back to Palermo

Beautiful buildings, amazing neighbourhoods

even the one less suitable for tourists

Palermo is the largest city we visited

It is not difficult to drive around

There is a lot of traffic

and the rules are "flexible"

The start was tough, but now is getting better

First day, we arrived in Termini Immerse

We are now in a bee farm, specialised in local black bees

We have been welcomed by Ms Susanna

She explained how the process to extract the honey

How they had the idea of investing in the black Sicilian bee which was almost extinct

and we finished with a delicious honey tasting

Early morning, we bring the hives where there are vast land with flowers

We need many and many acres of land with the same flower

We started in Sicily, from Palermo with its history and its culture

We drove East along the coast, passing by beautiful villages

Like Cefalu', which is a must-go destination

We are in Cefalu', an amazing town on the sea

Behind me you can see the magnificent cathedral

Second day

Today we cross the strait of Messina

and then we drive up North in Calabria

We arrived in Messina, we entering into the periphery

We are almost on the Continent

And today we have to drive over 300km

South Italy is a land of contrasts

We saw amazing landscapes, like the road along the coast

as well as other areas which were terrifying

Like the entrance in Messina or the industrial area of Gioia Tauro in Calabria

[talking about the food]

In North Italy there are rules

Stop is stop and the green light is green

In Sicily there are no rules

The stop does not exist

In Calabria it is a bit better ...

... more or less

And finally, here is the last team member of the Runaways

Vera

We are in Spilinga, a town famous to produce the Nduja

which is a spreadable, very spicy, sausage

Very traditional of this area

Just amazing

Nduja is very spicy

Hence, if you want some relief, don't drink water

but rather eat some cheese or drink some milk

I finally learnt how to properly pronounce the name Nduja

I discovered Nduja in London some years ago

and finally I can see how it is produced

and then eat in large quantity

We are now driving North along the coast

Driving here is a bit easier than in Sicily

The roads are larger and ...

... there is much less traffic

The real issue now are the steep roads towards the mountains

We have a problem

There is fire in the tunnel ahead of us

The road is completely blocked

It was a tough moment when we got stuck in the mountains

We were already extremely late ...

... and we had then to drive during the night in the mountains when they re-opened the way

We arrived in the Sila National Park

We arrived during the night

This morning we are visiting the park which is famous for its "giants"

They are trees that are over 400 years old

The peculiar thing of this place ...

... is the density of very old and very large trees

Today we leave the mountains of Calabria to go down to the coast of Basilicata

I was skeptical at the beginning of having to drive so many hours

But this turned to be a great experience

It force you to take it easy, to take it slow

And to discover backroads and corners of Italy that we didn't know

Driving the tuk-tuk, under the sun ...

... with the winds in the hairs

... and moving very slowly

All of this can't be described

It's something special

At some point it even start raining

Water was coming in from everywhere

But luckily it didn't last long

Today we are in Castelmezzano

One of the nicest towns in Italy

But we are here to fly ...

The fly was a great fun

The real problem is at the beginning

And have the courage to do it

Amazing, but the scary moment is the arrival

You arrive super fast and you don't know how you will stop

We are in Basilicata, next destination is a butchery

The landscape around is absolutely stunning

We are all in great spirit as the people who did the fly, they survived

Another stop to discover traditional local food

This time we are in Stigliano to taste the Pezzente

A typical sausage made with meat, salt, pepper, fennel and garlic

Really yummy

It is called Pezzente (beggar) because ...

... back in the days, the best parts of the pig were for the rich people

while the fat and the less noble parts were for the servants

We are in the middle of Basilicata

We left Stigliano

We are going to Matera

But we are running out of fuel and the closest petrol station is 20km away

Basilicata has an amazing landscape ...

... and an incredible shortage of petrol stations

This trip allow us to detox from the social networks

This is the beauty of driving over 9 hours per day

And welcome to Matera

Matera is a unique place on this planet

The buildings and the caves are very peculiar

Although we have to remember that people here were living in the caves until the 1970s

The city is well preserved as it was back in the days

Matera is spectacular, also in the night with all the lights on

Finally we arrived at destination, in Ostuni (Puglia)

The city is quite posh, hence I like it

Our travel ended in a parking space just off the walls of Ostuni

Clearly it was a sad moment

As it was the end of 5 days full of emotions

We spent the evening looking for some drinks in Ostuni

But we were out of context in the middle of thousands of tourists

For our entire trip we barely met any tourists ...

... as we visited remote villages and towns off the beaten paths

Ostuni, with its crowd, bars, etc... it was a shock

It was an incredible experience, very adventurous

I was perplex, at the beginning, of the idea to drive a tuk-tuk

But I changed my mind, as it allows to see things that you would otherwise be unable to see

We discovered small town ...

Traditional food ...

Discover so many things that we didn't know, even if we are Italian

All of this will remain in my heart

Unfortunately I was here only for 3 days

I was impressed by this group of friends

I was skeptical about travelling in a large group

I thought it was difficult to coordinate everyone

But I was impressed by how we helped with each other

And a very constructive approach by everyone

I liked the curiosity of the people we met

We were like a circus coming to each place

They were asking us questions, why we were there, etc

It was fun

We got a lot of (good) attention

I was impressed by the passion

of the food entrepreneurs that we met

The Nduja

The Honey

I was impressed by their dedication and attention to the territory

Discover Italy at 50 km per hour

Movies With Unbelievable Stunts That Were Real - Duration: 5:42.

In this age of CGI, it's easy for filmmakers to use digital effects instead of actual stunts.

And while the end result might look cool, it doesn't quite pack the same punch.

However, some of the most incredible movie scenes involve practical stunts that are so

unbelievable you'd never guess they were totally real.

Terminator 2: Judgment Day

When it comes to pushing the envelope in special effects, James Cameron is without a doubt

the king of the world.

But this VFX revolutionary still believes in using practical effects whenever possible.

After all, we're talking about the guy who built an 800-foot Titanic replica and then

sank it in a 5 million-gallon water tank.

However, in Terminator 2, Cameron took his love for real-life stunts to death-defying

levels.

Near the end of the film, the 3-time Oscar winner used an actual aircraft during a thrilling

chase where a SWAT van attempts to outrun a helicopter.

In one stunt, the chopper flies beneath an overpass at nearly 70 miles per hour.

But with just five feet of room above the helicopter, the camera crew refused to film

it.

So Cameron shot the sequence himself, pulling off what's got to be one of the riskiest aircraft

stunts in cinema history.

Speed

Before he was Neo or John Wick, Keanu Reeves was Jack Traven, a policeman who finds himself

aboard a bus that's rigged to explode if it drops below 50 miles per hour.

Things get even worse when the bus races up an elevated freeway, straight toward a 50-foot

gap in the road.

Sandra Bullock's character, Annie, is forced to drive the bus straight into the air to

clear the gap, landing safely on the other side.

The filmmakers digitally removed that missing chunk of the highway, but director Jan de

Bont actually got the bus to fly.

Using a vehicle that was stripped down to bare bones, their stunt driver got the bus

up to 61 miles per hour before soaring off a ramp built on an LA freeway.

"Thank you, thank you very much."

Mission: Impossible II

When it comes to performing his own stunts, Tom Cruise is miles above nearly every other

actor on the planet.

For proof, look no further than Mission: Impossible 2.

In the opening sequence, Cruise dangles off the side of a cliff without a safety net.

So when he flings himself from one rock to another, the only thing keeping him alive

is a thin cable.

Later on, during an insane fight sequence, Cruise had a steel cable attached to a knife

and positioned himself so it would stop about a quarter of an inch away from his eye.

It's that kind of dedication that proves Tom Cruise is worth every cent he makes…and

also that he's totally nuts.

The Bourne Ultimatum

In the third installment of the Bourne series, secret agent Jason Bourne throws down with

an assassin in what may be the best fight of the franchise.

But first, Bourne has to leap across an alleyway and crash through a window.

Rest assured, there's no CGI here, just old-fashioned practical effects.

Matt Damon's body double leapt from one building to another, smashing through a false

window, while another stunt man, attached to a wire rig, followed with a handheld camera.

Skyfall

The 007 franchise is jam-packed with amazing stunts, from the parkour sequence in Casino

Royale to the parachute jump in The Spy Who Loved Me.

But it's pretty hard to beat the motorcycle chase from Skyfall.

Instead of using a green screen, director Sam Mendes decided to put actual motorbikes

on actual rooftops in the Middle East.

The stunt drivers maneuvered their bikes down concrete strips that were about a meter wide.

Bond stunt double Robbie Maddison explained,

"A lot of the rooftops have old air conditioning units with metal stakes coming up.

Things that can stab you if you were to fall on them.

It definitely was not a place you'd want to ride with no helmet."

Iron Man 3

We can all agree that one of the best action sequences in the Marvel Cinematic Universe

is Iron Man 3's "Barrel of Monkeys" scene, when everyone aboard Air Force One is sucked

out of the plane.

The freefalling crewmembers form a human chain, allowing Iron Man to safely deposit them into

the ocean.

Marvel's executives gave their movie wings — by hiring the Red Bull stunt team for

this sequence.

In total, these diehard adrenaline junkies made approximately 600 jumps over the course

of eight days, with each dive lasting about a minute.

While the VFX crew had to take care of adding certain aspects — like Air Force One, the

"Excellent.

Good team effort, all around.

Go us."

The Fast and The Furious 7 & 8

If you're new to the Fast and the Furious franchise, you might be surprised to learn

that a lot of the stunts you see on screen are legit.

Like that scene in Furious 7 where Vin Diesel and the gang parachute from a plane 12,000

feet in the air — in their cars.

The filmmakers rigged up four vehicles with parachutes and dropped them from the sky.

Each car was equipped with three cameras, and three skydivers with helmet cameras also

went along for the jump.

In The Fate of the Furious, the gang zooms into Berlin, and ends up smashing bad guys

into oblivion with the help of a 14.5-ton wrecking ball.

For the scene, the stunt drivers doubling for the good guys had to get out of the way,

but the other driver-less vehicles were towed at 40 miles per hour, straight into the equally

fast ball of death.

Baby Driver

Director Edgar Wright basically mashed up Heat, The Driver, and Singin' in the Rain

into one glorious movie.

This 2017 heist flick follows a music-loving getaway driver who tries to leave his life

of crime after falling head-over-heels for a charming waitress.

And as it turns out, almost every stunt Baby pulls off is the real deal.

That includes the jaw-dropping "180 in, 180 out" gag from the movie's opening scene.

Our hero throws his Subaru into a forward 180, spinning around one truck, before throwing

the car into a reverse 180, successfully dodging another vehicle.

The Baby Driver stunt doubles wanted to capture that realistic feel, even if it meant putting

their lives on the line.

so many compliments I got so many compliments today at work that some

people didn't even recognize me everywhere I went to today was like

girl your wig is flawless I'm like yeah I am so in love with the

blunt cut you see the way it's cut this way like I'm just super in love with the

blunt cuts and everything it's amazing how they cut the wig this way. For

a synthetic hair, this is blessed like this is literally the best synthetic

wig I have ever had I'm not really that much of a wig person

but this one has actually like changed the whole game for me I feel like I'm

gonna be wearing wigs now more often like I really love this it's so soft

I like how light it is it doesn't feel like I'm wearing like you know some

extra hair on my head it kind of feels light doesn't feel too heavy and I love

the parting as well it looks so natural I don't even think I get my natural hair

Parting to be this good It looks so natural here all I had to

do was basically to add some concealer just so you can blend my skin tone and

then I went in with my eye pencil like you can see it's a pencil yeah my eye

pencil just to tint it a little bit in the areas where I had like excess concealer

towards the end that was basically all I did for this wig and then I did a

little bit of plucking just in the same place there was some little black hair

there I just have to take away just to get as much as you can but like

there's nothing that much actually needs to do with this hair if you don't even

want to take it away like you still lost bone like it looks good the cut is just

amazing the color is fabulous yeah I really like it for the Fall and I feel

like it all this goes with my skin so I'm like this color is beautiful

so this hair was the price of the high is 3995 US dollars and you could get it

getting from diva tress calm I was to buy something buy makes I need to be a

baby nice so it's 3995 and then they have a lot of

other colors so this is not the only color you could get I mean I see some

people have like the black and the brown so if you get any like they have a lot

of shows they have so many colors they even have the blonde they have it in

like black and purple they have the all black we have brown

go that's loud you don't stuff like that it's a really

nice week and I also like the fact that it also has an elastic net with a cone

and that makes it really big head friendly so if you have like a big head

or your head is bigger than mine are you're worried about if Olivia it's

gonna fit you honey it's gonna fit you so well because he has an elastic so you

could like either adjust it like loosen it or tighten it which is amazing so

there's a it's big head friendly so you could go with any head size basically

and I'm super in love with the hair the only corn I would say which is kind

of what you expect from synthetic hair anyways is that there's a little bit of

tango just a little bit nice nothing too out of the ordinary but one thing I've

kind of discovered it synthetic eyes that you can actually straighten it but

just this use like really really really low heat you don't want to go overboard

it let's get a bun so I feel like I could straighten this when it starts

Caribbean Jerk Chicken a Tasty Treat - Duration: 3:31.

Today on the grill top experience I'm going to make some Jerk Chicken.

I went to Universal Studios Florida and the Bob Marley restaurant and got some jerk chicken

and had to make it myself.

The secret to jerk chicken is the scotch bonnet pepper, I can't buy these where I live so

I grew them myself.

You can use habeneros is a pinch.

These peppers have a fruity and very spicy flavor perfect for this dish.

Let's make the marinade!

Add the orange and lime juice.

Fresh squeezed is best.

Olive Oil.

A tablespoon of soy sauce.

Then add black pepper, salt, brown sugar, and thyme.

Next add cinnamon, nutmeg, and allspice, which give the jerk it's flavor.

Add half an onion, ginger, Green onions, garlic.

Then add two scotch bonnet or habanero peppers.

You might want to wear gloves when you cut these to keep your hand from burning.

I'm only adding the flesh and tossing the seeds to cut down the heat, but you can make

it as spicy as you'd like.

Give it a blitz in the blender until smooth.

Grab your chicken quarters and make a few cuts in the flesh.

That helps get more surface area for the marinade to stick and increases the flavor once it

is browned.

Then toss them in a bowl and add your marinade.

Cover the chicken, but reserve one half cup of the marinade to put on during the cooking.

Give them a toss to ensure everything is coated and put them in the fridge for 4 hours.

There is nothing like jerk chicken to warm you up on a rainy fall day.

Put the chicken on 375 degree grill skin side up, unlike what I did when I was in a hurry

to get out of the rain.

Then put some of the marinade from your bowl onto the chicken to increase the flavor.

There is no point in wasting the marinade after about 25 minutes give them a flip and

then coat with the marinade you put off to the side and coat them generously.

Close the lid for another 15 minutes or so, then give them one last flip to brown the

chicken.

I think it turned out great even though I lost the chicken skin.

The combination of heat from the scotch bonnet and spice from the cinnamon and allspice turned

out fantastic.

Why evangelicals love Trump

After bowing his head during a blessing before dinner with evangelical leaders in the Blue Room last month, President Donald Trump cracked a joke.

Im the only person on Fifth Avenue that would have a prayer like that, the president said, according to two attendees, seeming to separate himself from much of Manhattans swanky Upper East Side.

One evangelical leader present offered that Cardinal Timothy Dolan, whose palatial cathedral and residence is blocks from Trump Tower, may also suggest a blessing before dining. Trump agreed before commenting on the cardinals lavish digs.

He then pointed to several of the religious leaders before saying an iteration of: The Christians, they know what Im doing for them, right? He grinned and nodded as he was praised.

The episode provides a window into Trumps symbiotic relationship with evangelical voters, according to more than a dozen White House officials, advisers and religious leaders.

Several senior White House officials say theyve never heard Trump reference the Bible privately or pray in the Oval Office — even though he has, at times, asked Vice President Mike Pence to pray.

He swears frequently, even startling some aides with his coarse language. He was famously caught on tape saying he could grab women by their genitals because he is famous.

In New York, he was well-known for cheating on his wives and encouraging coverage of his sex life in the tabloids.

Though he has declared the Bible to be his favorite book, just ahead of his autobiography, he has not exhibited a deep knowledge of it.

On the campaign trail, one of his more famous moments was calling the communion my little wine and my little cracker and incorrectly calling Second Corinthians Two Corinthians..

Yet he has told advisers he sees evangelicals as among his most important constituencies, and he has enjoyed fervent support, as evidenced by another rapturous reception on Friday at the Values Voter Summit.

A Reuters poll in September showed more than 60 percent of white evangelicals back Trump, far higher than his overall approval rating, which has often fallen below 40 percent.

"Trump has been focused like a laser beam on the evangelical vote since the day he entered the presidential race in June 2015, and that has never changed, said Ralph Reed, founder and chairman of the Faith and Freedom Coalition, who said Trump called religious leaders repeatedly during the campaign.

Several people who know Trump say he appreciates that evangelicals have been loyal to him — and he wants to keep them in the fold, almost as he would valuable business customers.

Evangelical Christians have been pleased by a number of his decisions, like nominating Neil Gorsuch for the Supreme Court, his willingness to fight abortion, his religious liberty executive order and his stance on Israel, according to Reed and others.

In the Blue Room meeting last month, he was praised for opposing Planned Parenthood and promising to push for religious leaders to be allowed to endorse in political races. Religious leaders who brought him concerns were promised quick follow-ups by the government.

More than anything, several religious leaders said, they feel Trump is fighting for them in a cultural war that has been heading in the other direction.

They believe they have a commander in chief that is effectively using the bully pulpit to advance a Judeo-Christian framework that has been minimized, scrutinized and ostracized for the last few decades, said David Brody, who has enjoyed tremendous access to White House officials as a correspondent for the Christian Broadcasting Network.

He says his viewers overwhelmingly support Trump and see him as unfairly under attack, a view shared by a dozen religious leaders interviewed for this story.

Trump alluded to that exact notion during Fridays speech, promising that he is "stopping cold the attacks on Judeo-Christian values" and declaring the war on Christmas is over.

"They dont use the word 'Christmas' because its not politically correct," Trump said to heavy applause. "Well, guess what? Were saying 'Merry Christmas' again.". Times have changed, but now theyre changing back again, he added.

Those who have known Trump longest guffaw at his approach to evangelicals and say they believe he is only pandering.

Even some of the religious leaders who wanted to praise Trump publicly asked to go off the record and say they dont believe the self-described Presbyterian is religious.

Barbara Res, a longtime Trump executive, said she was amazed at his executive action on contraception, in which he allowed virtually any employer to claim a religious or moral objection to Obamacares birth control coverage mandate.

He doesnt care about that, Res said. He has no idea what he signed. They just gave him that to sign..

Timothy OBrien, a longtime Trump biographer, said the president's family wasnt religiously observant and that Trump had attended church only occasionally over the years.

He has never, ever been consumed with classic Christian values like 'love your neighbor' and 'treat others as you want to be treated,' OBrien said. He has never tried to live by the values of the Bible.

He is completely cynical about it.. But Trump and his team have paid special care to their relationship with the evangelical community.

The White House has called Christian leaders for input on a range of issues, including economic and foreign policy matters not closely associated with the religious community, said Johnnie Moore, a religious leader close to Trump.

They talk to us constantly, Moore said. Pence is beloved by many evangelicals, and Reed said many of his friends have visited the White House more often since January than in decades.

On several occasions, Trump has brought pastors into the Oval Office for photos, including some showing them gathered around his chair with their hands on his shoulders. Trump has loved the idea of the pictures becoming public, one adviser said.

One adviser said Trump keeps a family Bible in the residence and has told people he has opened it from time to time.

Brody, the TV reporter, has interviewed Trump officials repeatedly on the West Wing lawn — and he scored almost a dozen campaign trail interviews with Trump, as well as the presidents third interview in office.

Another one of Trumps interviews was with Pat Robertson, the televangelist who leads the network.

Brody is now writing a book about the presidents religious journey, he said, which he admitted has drawn chuckles from liberals and skeptics. Trump is expected to participate in the book.

White House officials have told Brody that they see the network as important and that it provides fairer treatment, with questions that often focus on issues that are less contentious than the Russia probe, his administrations legislative failures and chaos in the White House.

Trump has left many of the pastors impressed with his promises to fulfill their agenda, and Trump often knows how to charm.

At a religious gathering in Colorado on Friday, pastor and Trump evangelical adviser Robert Jeffress recalled a meeting with the president in the Oval Office earlier this year.

The religious leaders present for the meeting all began talking before Trump interrupted, according to Jeffress' account. Sorry, pastor, but dont you think we ought to pray first? Trump asked.
