LV Eyewitness Makes Brilliant Statement, 'In a World Where Everyone's Kneeling… | Top Stories Today - Duration: 3:48.Over the past week, Americans have been embroiled in a heated debate over professional athletes
kneeling in protest during the playing of the national anthem, a move seen by many as
disrespectful to the flag and the men and women who have fought and died to defend the
ideals and principles symbolized by that flag and anthem.
Then, one of the worst tragedies in recent American history struck in Las Vegas, and
while a murderous embodiment of evil opened fire on a massive crowd at a concert from
an elevated position, the same sort of people who are honored and represented by the anthem
and flag rose to the occasion and displayed exactly why so many hold them in high regard.
According to Fox News, Russel Bleck was one of the thousands of people attending the country
music festival on The Strip.
He shared his harrowing account of how he managed to escape the "pure chaos and carnage"
that was going on all around him.
Bleck suggested the staggering death toll could have been even higher had it not been
for the brave efforts of first responders and military veterans at the show.
"In a world where everyone's kneeling, I saw hundreds of people standing up and running
towards the danger," he stated.
He spoke of how people used their bodies as shields for others, coached those around them
on how to avoid being a target, guided others to cover and safety, broke down barricades
to use as improvised gurneys and even used their fingers to temporarily plug bullet wounds
until medical care could arrive on scene.
Bleck recounted how the gunman was seemingly using an automatic weapon to spray the crowd
and how the design of the concert venue ultimately created a bottleneck that trapped many concert-goers
inside the free-fire zone as if they were fish in a barrel.
"If you fire a round into that crowd, you're going to hit somebody," Bleck said.
"There was no escape … It was horrible."
In a separate interview with NBC's "Today Show," Bleck reiterated, "You saw a lot
of ex-military just jump into gear.
I saw guys plugging bullet holes with their fingers."
"While everyone else was crouching, police officers (were) standing up at targets, just
trying to direct people, tell them where to go," he continued.
"The amount of bravery I saw there, words can't describe what it was like."
Of the shooter, Bleck said, "He was just spraying the crowd.
He was relentless.
There was no stopping.
You had five, maybe eight seconds to move from cover to cover to try to move and get
out of there as he reloaded."
Bleck didn't realize until later that the gunfire had been coming down from the 32nd
floor of the Mandalay Bay Hotel that was across the street from the site of the concert, instead
thinking at the time that the murderer was on the ground working his way through the
crowded venue.
"There was just no telling.
And then it would echo throughout the area, so nobody knew where to go," he said.
"And then all of a sudden people would run away from a safe area, but you didn't know
if it was safe.
It was just absolute chaos and carnage."
Yet, despite the unknown location of the shooter and the certain danger of uncovered movement,
many men and women pushed those concerns aside and bravely stood in defiance of the withering
hail of bullets to serve their fellow human beings in a time of crisis.
That is what America is all about, and that is why we stand respectfully for the flag
and national anthem, in honor of those kinds of people — people who truly make our nation
the greatest on earth.
What do you think about the heroism displayed during this tragic event?
Please share this news on Facebook and Twitter so everyone can see what one survivor of the
Las Vegas massacre - had to say about the bravery displayed by former military and first
responders.

Nier: Automata's False Expectations (feat. MrClemps) - Duration: 9:46.During the time that Nier: Automata was being marketed, we were led to believe things about
the game that ended up not being true.
Which is generally a quite negative thing in most people's eyes, considering that no
one wants to feel tricked out of what the promotional material promised them, but in
Automata's case it's a bit different.
The reason why Automata's route C hits you with such an impact is because no one could
predict it based on any of the promotional material.
Of course you're excepting a twist here and there (it IS Yoko Taro we're talking about)
but route C's drastic derail would not have been possible if it weren't for the fact that
the game was marketed in the way that it was.
Based on the promotional material, we were lead to believe that 2B was the game's main
protagonist.
And although this is true to some extent, both A2 and 9S ended up playing much bigger roles than
one would have assumed from how much more 2B was pushed to the front in comparison.
From just seeing the trailers, I was under the assumption that we were going to play as 2B for a majority of the game
and then switch off and play 9S and A2 during short selected segments.
Based on playtime only, 9S would be the game's main protagonist
as you spend the most time playing as him during the game's main storyline.
When we were first introduced to the game through the trailers, we were mainly shown
footage of 2B's gameplay and what happens in route A. But the closer we got to the game's
release, the more route C started popping up in promotional material.
So if you were someone who closely followed the game's trailers you'd pick up on the fact
that there were scenes that we'd already been shown in trailers that hadn't appeared in-game
by the time you'd finished route A and B.
The one trailer that showed the scene of 2B being stabbed by 9S was censored in Japan,
leading to route C being harder for us to see.
If it weren't for the fact that 2B is the first playable character that we gain control
of and the fact that she's placed in the middle on the box art, based just on the events that
take place in the game, 2B isn't ''more'' of a main character than either A2 or 9S.
It's more as if the YoRHa project in its entirety is the main character.
But in order to not give anything away about the second half of the story, 2B was pushed
to the front as the main character.
Then she ended up getting a lot of attention, both negative and positive, but either way
it still helped spread awareness about the game.
In order to make sure we didn't even suspect route C to be what it was, 2B was made the
game's poster girl and she gained a lot of popularity because of it.
Adam and Eve were also painted up to be the assumed villains of the game, and again, they
play that part in the game's first act but then their attitudes are completely changed
by the end of it.
This is one of the few parts that actually frustrates me,
because I actually really fell in love with Adam and Eve's designs and characters, only
to find out that they're sadly very underused in-game.
Looking at how the story plays out it's understandable that their purpose wasn't to act as the big
bad guys but I still would have liked to have had more time with them.
That in itself is also a success though, considering they managed to interest me enough to the
point where I got mad about the ''villains'' dying too early.
In reality, they're not exactly supposed to be *that* important, so me being upset with
the fact that they're ''underused'' is really a personal issue simply because I got too
attached to them.
They were just too interesting.
Adam just wanted to learn about humanity and Eve just wanted to be with Adam.
and--
[gross sobbing]
[still sobbing] Oh hey, Soph, you doing okay there? You look a little down in the dumps.
It's just-- They are SUCH. GOOD. CHARACTERS.
Well you know, these things happen sometimes.
Maybe you should take a break for a minute?
[Sniffling] Okay...
And pass them over to me. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
WAIT WHAT
Hey, it's Clemps!
So why was the way that the game was marketed so important for it's story?
Because they kept the events that occurred in Route C secret from us.
This was, it makes the overall impact of said events more powerful.
By doing this, it not only tricked new players but it also tricked the poor fuckers who have
been fans of the series since Drakengard or Nier.
After Route B you'd naturally expect to start the game as A2 and play the story from
her viewpoint since that's essentially how the original NieR played out.
No-one would have predicted that Route C would be a continuation of Route A and B,
the crafty moon man tricked us yet again.
Take a movie trailer for example: a movie trailer's job is hook the audience in without
revealing too much about the movie itself.
You still want the movie watching experience to match the trailer and you still want the
possible plot twists and elements to not be spoiled in the trailer right of the bat during
the promotional stage.
No matter how good it looks, if you spoil every single plot element in the trailer
are people gonna go see it?
Probably not.
Trailers and promotional material are used to build hype but it shouldn't be misused
to promote something that isn't there - but rather only showcase a small part of what's
to come.
The best way to explain Nier: Automata's promotion is to say that it's a reverse ''No Man's Sky.''
This happy looking developer essentially lied past his smile during almost all of the original
promotion of his game.
If you take into account how good the game looked during its original trailer, its no
wonder so many people started to get hype for it.
However, during almost every interview that followed it turned out that the lead developer
was lying about many of the features that'd eventually end up in the finished product.
Of course, when the game released and people were given a title that was missing almost
every promise that the developer told them with an innocent sincerity would definitely
be in the finished product. It's no wonder the internet made No Man's Sky its punching
bag for the weeks that followed.
With the way that Nier: Automata was promoted, we were shown much less than what we were
actually given.
No Man's Sky and Automata are polar opposites in how they tricked their audiences.
It's very interesting comparing them side by side.
A game which promised greatness but completely failed to deliver, and a game which kept many
of its surprises exactly that.
A surprise.
A game which advertised itself to be much less than what it's final product actually
was, which would inevitably cause people to start talking about it.
But at the end of the day, what does it matter?
If the game ends up exceeding your expectations based on the promotional material, that obviously
means you've had to play the game to know that.
Which in turn means that the promotion that was made obviously was enough to get you to
buy the game.
So overlooking the fact that the promotional material left out a huge part of the main
storyline, it was still good enough to get people interested in the game.
Which isn't an easy thing to do.
It's really only interesting to the people that have finished the game in its entirety.
Meaning that although it's something we can appreciate, it doesn't exactly ''matter''
at that point, considering that we've already finished the game.
It's like going to a birthday party expecting a good time but then getting to take an extra goody bag
of candy with you home.
It's something that really makes the
game stick with you that much more.
It's like the thing where you want to try and explain to your friend why they should get the game
but you can't because of the spoilers.
All in all, it really adds to the ''you just have to play it yourself'' factor that the
game already very strongly exudes.
A game is really something special when it makes you realize the attention to detail
surrounding the actual production of the game
the more you sit around and think about it.
It's so beautifully subtle at times I feel like it's actually going to be the death of me.
It's not that the trailers were just built up on trying to trick the fanbase, but they
were well-made to be actual trailers to hype us up for the game.
The big reveal didn't come at the cost of the hype, or the other way around.
Nothing got spoiled but they still managed to rile the audience up; meaning they managed
to hit that exact sweet spot where people were excited enough about the game to actually
get it but they still had no idea how the plot was going to unfold.
Which is not an easy thing to do.
Needless to say, marketing and promotion is an extremely vital part of the entire production
process.
Even if your game is amazing, it's not going to matter if no one knows about it.
You need to catch people's attention and draw them in without revealing too much - which
is what Automata managed to do very well.
Overall, it's just another reason as to why I keep falling in love with this game more
and more as time goes on.
I really hope you enjoyed this video.
Make sure to check out Clemps' channel too if you're not subscribed to him already!
I'll leave a link in the description and put a link somewher on the screen, probably somewhere around here...

Retro Text Effects with Adobe Illustrator's Appearance Panel - Duration: 7:34.How's it going everyone, this is Chris from Spoon
Graphics back with another video tutorial for Adobe Illustrator.
Today I'm going to show you some techniques for creating cool retro style text effects
using Illustrator's Appearance panel, which preserves the live text so you can still edit
the wording and change the font.
Since we're working with retro type effects, the artwork we'll be producing is based on
those old 'Come in, we're open' signs.
So open up Adobe Illustrator and create a new document.
I'm using a generic A4 layout with Pixel units and the RGB colour mode.
Select the Rectangle tool and draw a shape to cover the artboard.
You can turn on Smart Guides from the View menu to help you snap to the artboard corners.
Clear out the default black stroke, then double click the fill to enter a different colour.
I'm using a light blue of 130, 205, 255 in the RGB values.
Go to Object > Lock > Selection to avoid accidentally moving this background shape out of place.
Draw another rectangle on the artboard, this time more of a square shape in the centre.
Give it a fill of 255, 250, 235.
Go to Effect > Stylize > Rounder Corners, then alter the Radius to 100px.
Grab the Direct Selection tool and click the top right corner point.
Hold the Shift key and nudge it upwards and to the right a couple of times.
Select the other corner points and move them out of place to create an irregular shape.
Head to Object > Path > Offset Path and enter 10px.
Switch the Fill and Stroke around for this new offset shape, then bump up the stroke
weight to 8pt.
Currently the round corners don't run parallel to the original shape, so click the Round
Corners option in the Appearance panel and increase it to 108px.
Adjust the size and position of these shapes then lock them with the Object > Lock > Selection
menu.
Use the Type tool to lay out your chosen wording.
I'm using a font named SignPainter for the first words, which I'll link to down in the
description if you fancy purchasing it yourself.
Scale the text up in size and positioned towards the top of the background shapes.
Go to Object > Transform > Shear and check the Vertical option.
Change the shear angle to -10 degrees.
Hold the ALT key while dragging the text element to make a duplicate.
We can use the number 1 character to underline this word.
Type it out, then right click and choose Create Outlines to convert to the text into a shape.
Begin rotating and stretching the shape to fit underneath the main text.
Go to Object > Transform > Reset Bounding Box to help stretch the shape further after
it has been rotated.
Create a new type element and spell out the next words.
I'm using a font named Cervo, the Medium Italic variant in particular for this text.
Set out the word OPEN in Cervo Medium, then scale and position all the text elements to
size and align them up within the background shapes.
We'll treat the 'Come in' text and the underline and one element, so select them both and Group
them together.
Clear out the black fill, then choose Add New Fill from the corner menu in the Appearance
panel.
Use the Eyedropper tool to sample the blue background.
Multiple fills and strokes can be applied within the Appearance panel, which can help
you produce creative effects by stacking them up.
Add another fill from the menu, then double click the fill colour and enter 45, 30, 90,
in the RGB values.
Drag this darker blue fill underneath the first fill, then click the little FX icon
at the bottom of the Appearance panel and choose Distort & Transform > Transform.
Enter -1px and 1px in the Horizontal and Vertical Move options, then set the number of Copies
to 10.
Use the Eyedropper tool to sample the background shape colour as a stroke, then set the size
to 1.5pt.
You'll notice that each individual letter is outlined, which doesn't look right with
this Script font.
You can fix this by choosing Pathfinder > Add from the FX menu.
Use the same technique to style up the next text element.
Start by clearing out the default black fill, then add a new fill in the Appearance panel.
Choose the dark blue of 45, 30, 90.
Add another fill, and sample the pale background shape.
Drag it below the dark blue fill in the Appearance panel order.
Add a Transform Effect and set the Move values to -1px and 1px, then add 2 copies.
Drag this pale coloured fill onto the new icon to duplicate it, then change the colour
to the light blue background.
Drag it to the bottom of the stack of fills.
Expand the effects and click Transform to edit its settings.
Change the number of copies to 4.
The effect is very similar to that used on the 'Come in' wording, except it uses just
fills rather than a stroke.
You can layer up different fills to create some really cool effects.
Let's add some more effects to the big Open text.
Clear out the default fill and add a new fill in the Appearance panel.
Choose a red of 250, 0 ,80.
Add another fill, this time choosing the dark blue 45, 30, 90 colour.
Drag it to the bottom, or just edit the fill that's already underneath.
Add a Transform at -1 and 1px then set the number of Copies to 20 to produce a big 3D
effect.
Click on the red fill and add an Offset Path effect.
Set the Offset to -4px.
Add another fill, this time sampling the pale background colour.
Drag it between the Red and Blue colours.
Add an Offset to this fill too, but set the value at -2px.
You can see how you can come up with some great text effects by layering up fills to
produce alternating outlines and shadows.
Go to Object > Unlock All to make those background elements selectable again.
Retro designs always look great with a bit of texturing.
It is possible to add textures directly in Illustrator, but you get the best results
working in Photoshop.
I'm going to be using one of my free rusty metal mockups, which you can download from
my website.
Draw a selection around everything in Illustrator and hit CMD+C (or CTRL C on Windows to Copy),
then switch over to your chosen mockup in Photoshop.
I'm using number 19 from my pack.
Double click the Smart Object layer to edits its contents.
Paste in your graphic and scale it to size.
Press CMD+S to Save, then CMD+W to Close this Smart Object and return back to the main PSD.
This mockup is designed for single colour logo graphics, so turn off the visibility
of the Solid Fill, then add a Black and White adjustment layer above the background to remove
the red colour from the original texture.
The final result is some great looking retro style type, made entirely in Adobe Illustrator's
Appearance panel.
The best part is, this text is still editable in Illustrator, so you can change the wording
and the font and still have the effects applied.
So I hope you enjoyed this tutorial, if you did be sure to stick around by hitting the
subcsribe button on my channel.

Over Here, Over There: Immigrant Veterans of WWI (webinar) - Duration: 41:08.>> From the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C.
>> I think we'll get started
with a few introductions before we begin the formal webinar.
Again my name is Naomi [inaudible].
I'm an education specialist here in the library at the exhibition's office.
We really appreciate you joining today for this session as part
of the World War I webinar series.
As you know, this program's part of a number of events, of webinars and events,
especially connected to the library's exhibition "Echoes of the Great War: American Experiences
of World War I" which is on view here through January 2019.
Today's session will focus on immigrant veterans of the first world war,
and the work of the library's Veterans History Project better known here as VHP.
Our presenter today will be Owen Rogers, a liaison specialist in that office.
The presentation will last approximately 30 minutes with time
after that for Owen to answer questions.
You may note that you can talk with the panelists
and your fellow participants via the chat.
There's a little chat icon at the top of your WebEx window.
And use that to drop down to all attendees if you want to talk to everyone
or if you have just a question for one of the presenters you can send that way,
but we'd love to see everyone's questions there.
Please also, if you haven't already, tell us who you are and where you're watching
from so we have a sense of the breadth of our participants and also
to -- just to practice using the chat.
It really helps.
You can participate there in part because we have another colleague on the chat.
Her name is Megan Harris [assumed spelling].
She's a reference specialist from the Veterans History Project who will answer questions
and respond to inquiries as the session goes on,
and Owen will take additional questions at the end.
Kathy [inaudible] also one of our panelists.
She'd from our ed outreach division, and she's our technical host for the day.
So if you have any concerns, technical concerns, you can drop her a note as well.
We are recording today's session.
The recording will be posted on the library's website once we've been able to caption it.
You should find it there shortly several weeks after the program.
And, with that, I will turn the presentation over to Owen.
>> Thank you, Naomi.
Can everybody hear me?
All right.
Get us started here.
Well, welcome everybody.
My name's Owen Rogers.
I'm a public historian and I have about five years at the Library of Congress.
All of that is at the Veterans History Project, and even before then I worked --
I worked for about eight years collecting, recording, archiving,
and interpreting veterans stories both at a university level all the way
up from a volunteer interviewer which is the lifeblood of VHP.
We'll talk about that in a little bit.
On to a graduate intern and then a graduate assistant.
So my focus as public historian is on archival [inaudible] and at the Library of Congress some
of these vulnerable voices include immigrant veterans who you'll learn a little bit more
about today through the portal of World War I and the library's commemoration of the war.
So you'll see that this is our website,
and it really is the portal to the Veterans History Project.
It is both a participatory and also an archival resource.
And all of our archived veterans recordings can be accessed through --
by searching the veterans collections.
And that includes oral histories, media materials, creative works,
and also looking up around the project how to participate, looking at our blog posts,
and we also [inaudible] out the last archive on planet Earth to get a Facebook page.
You can read more about our collections of materials and see more of the kinds of things
that we're doing in terms of outreach and collections and interpretation here
at the library and also through tremendous coverage in every congressional district
in every state and most of the U.S. territories.
So really oral histories are the bread and butter of the Veterans History Project,
and you can see the broad range of oral histories that we still receive.
To be honest, I can usually mark time on my calendar by the bags of audio cassette tapes
that [inaudible] sends me all the time.
And that really speaks to the breadth of media that we collect.
You can see one of those audio cassette tapes over here.
All the way up through [inaudible].
We have some legacy recordings on Betamax and VHS which we no longer accept.
And most of the materials we'll see coming in today will be optical media.
DVDs, CDRs, with [inaudible] digital oral history recordings.
And those can be done on anything from a digital video camera all the way through those devices
that we carry around in our pockets, our phones, our smart phones, and a variety of manufacturers
and formats are compliant with [inaudible].
I encourage you to check that out later or stick around for the Q and A
and we'll talk a little bit about that more.
So in addition to contemporary oral history recordings, what we do is we collect plenty
of period veterans materials as well, and that includes manuscripts.
So correspondence, any kind of either a recent or an older memoir, diary, recordings,
all of these help put us in the perspective of a veteran while they were experiencing
or in the immediate aftermath of events.
It offers a nice contextual comparison with then and more of the now in an oral history.
So in terms of documentation photographs are one
of my favorite facets of the Veterans History Project.
And many of these images you'll never see in another archive
because they're entirely personal.
And they communicate a veteran's firsthand experience.
These right here from the collection Joseph Beimfohr [assumed spelling].
He is an Iraq war veteran, and you can see that this is very much behind the green curtain.
This is what a collection will look like with the polyester housing,
the preservation treatment, and the care and concern that we provide to items to make sure
that collections like Joseph Beimfohr will be around as long as we can possibly share them
and preserve them and make them accessible to researchers, family members.
And then we come on to veterans' creative works which really allow us
to perceive veterans' experiences through their minds' eyes, through their interpretations.
The watercolors.
We have charcoal drawings, illustrations, many, many, many illustrated envelopes.
And if you're familiar with Bill Mauldin's "Willie and Joe," veterans oral history --
The Veterans Oral History Project has interpretive works that are very similar,
ranging from World War II in my memory all the way up through the Vietnam war.
And most likely beyond.
Takes us a little bit of time to dig through the bottom
of 100,000 collections, but you know what?
I'm going to take a note now and I'm going to challenge myself
to find something newer than that.
So all of these collections arrive here at the Library of Congress
through a grassroots methodology.
And you can see here folks in Indiana sitting down and recoding a veteran's oral history.
Like here they're also recording -- Making it in to an audio file available.
We accept both audio and video recordings on a smart device.
And we're really looking in to a portal of kind of a gap in veterans' history.
We don't have a tremendous amount of Persian Gulf War collections,
and it's judging from [inaudible] and that nice sort
of very much grassroots do it yourself using [inaudible] methodology instructions
and media recommendations we've made sure to get his story here.
So in terms of accessibility, here's the awesome thing.
I can talk about all this content all day long and cite stories, but if it's not easy
to get to, in terms of utilization, if we can't use it, what do we do?
So we've made sure that, first of all, every veteran,
their collection is identified as their story.
You know, the story of [inaudible] the story of Jane Smith.
And all of those collections get a collection record that the veteran provides
through a biographical data form, and that will list their [inaudible] service,
the war they participated in, service location, the unit or the ship that they were assigned to,
their highest rank, and also some information about the archives
or the organization that it came from.
You know, whether it's a [inaudible] patrol squadron
or a girl scout troop or a boy scout troop.
And all of our more than 100,000 collections can be found through here,
and about 44,000 of those are digitized.
So for the ones that aren't digitized we make collections accessible
through the American Folklife Center reading room in terms of breaking down, you know,
the organization of the project, we are a special collection
within the American Folklife Center.
And researchers, you know, as a national library, I encourage everybody
to get their Library of Congress reader card, reader registration card.
And once you [inaudible] through those materials [inaudible] in about 10 working days.
>> Sounds like we may have lost --
>> Now we come on to --
>> Give it a second here to see if we can reconnect.
>> In terms of this is how we're more or less -- And you can definitely tell by this sliver
in the corner right here of the World War I collections that this says everything
about the date that [inaudible] was legislated.
So [inaudible] has been around since the year 2000.
I'm seeing a sound problem note.
Can everybody hear me okay?
>> Yeah. It sounds like you're back, but you might want
to repeat the introduction to the slide, please.
>> Oh, will do.
Okay. Great.
So thanks for the note.
So you can tell that the Veterans History Project was legislated
in the year 2000 basically based on the [inaudible] disposition of the veterans
that are included in the project.
So if you looked at a sliver right here for World War I, the project was legislated
in the year 2000 and that was when an era in our history when there were
about 3,400 living World War I veterans, and World War II veterans are passing away
at a rate of more than 1,000 a day.
So there was a congressional act, congressional foresight, that looked at -- Nothing?
Okay. Okay.
Back again.
All right.
That looked at the state of World War II veterans oral histories and said,
"If we don't create a project that can capture these memories,
we're going to lose them forever."
And while we've lost all of our World War I voices,
we were able to capture nearly 100 World War I veterans' oral histories,
and about 65,000 World War II veterans.
So World War II forms the largest part of our archives.
Our next biggest collections are Cold War Korea and Vietnam.
And we continue to receive World War I collections through donations of manuscripts,
photographs, creative works, like I mentioned before.
So there is still potential for those voices to be collected
and interpreted here at the Library of Congress.
And our collection scope, I should add -- All of these relate the stories of veterans
of the U.S. armed forces who served in World War I through recent conflicts.
And in any capacity and at any time between effectively the 20th and 21st centuries.
And are no longer serving.
So now when it comes to World War I, World War I veterans and in a discussion
of immigration it's just a fascinating opportunity to explore immigration as a concept
and as an era of the United States.
And also really to look at it as a somewhat substantial,
about 5% of the entire [inaudible] World War I archives is --
communicates immigrant veteran service.
So we have about, as I said before, 400 World War I collections.
And roughly of that amount we found about 20 veterans
who indicated either first or second generation ancestry.
Either they were immigrants or they were the children of immigrants.
And that speaks to a larger [inaudible] conundrum we have
when it comes to interpreting veteran service.
You know, just because ancestry information is entirely optional.
We have ancestry information for about half of our participants.
So effectively this could be the amount that we've collected --
It could be double what is reported on the self identified sheet
that veterans [inaudible] for participation.
But of the amount that we have, this is roughly the perspective of --
This is the lay of the land in terms of where our veterans come from.
For World War I, that is.
And what's so fascinating is that looking through this you can see
that VHP preserved the voices of World War I veterans from both the allies
and the central powers which leads you in to a fascinating interpretation of first
and second generation self identity.
So now we come to the story of Camp Upton,
and Camp Upton was just a fascinating melting pot for World War I service.
I learned about this through "Echoes of the Great War."
This is a photograph that I wasn't familiar with, and so F.M. Sefano recorded the arrival
of the new New Rochelle contingent at Camp Upton.
And by some estimates more than 30 different languages
and dialects were spoken in this camp alone.
So by war's end about half a million of American enlisted troops were recent immigrants
from about 50 different countries, and about 100,000 of them didn't speak English at all.
So we're going to talk a little bit more about avenues
in which immigrants would find themselves in the service of the United States military,
but this just shows you really the sort of scope and the diversity of men in Doughboy uniform.
So when we come to talk about the range of World War I service, I found three collections
that I think would be a fascinating portal in which we would talk about immigrant identity
within the U.S. armed forces of World War I.
So right there on the left, that's Harry Freeman,
and in the middle we have Joseph Rosenblum.
And on the right we have Albert [inaudible].
And they really do speak to the range of both naturalized immigrants, recent immigrants,
and second generation descendents of central powers parents.
So why don't we start with Harry Freeman and it's a really ideal opportunity for us to segue
to the Selective Service Act of 1917?
So in addition to native born and naturalized citizens, the Selective Service Act
of 1917 also included immigrants who intended to apply for U.S. citizenship at some point or,
you know, naturalized immigrants.
And as an extra incentive to military service, Congress amended naturalization laws in May
of 1918 that fast tracked the citizenship process
for immigrants who served in the U.S. military.
So by war's end about 120,000 Doughboys earned their citizenship
as a direct consequence of military service.
And truly set a historical precedent that we've seen to this day of accelerated naturalization
for veterans who served in -- for immigrants who served
in the armed forces to become U.S. veterans.
So yeah. That is the Harry Freeman story where, yes, he was born in Russia,
immigrated to the United States, naturalized, and, as a consequence of his naturalization,
was eligible for the Selective Service Act draft.
And what's so fascinating is that -- And I've yet to look this up.
This is another note for me to look up.
In our collections database it -- So he was sent to Camp Meade
which is now Fort Meade in Maryland.
And quite a few of our World War I collections are currently housed in Fort Meade.
So I wonder if his story came full circle.
That's one for me to look up and report back to you later.
So now when we come to the messaging and the branding for U.S. military service I share this
in -- We see different strategies, different media strategies, through the generations
that engage and elicit military recruitments.
Sometimes they talk about a recent conflict veteran or a collection
who remembers U.S. army national guard coming to his high school with a Humvee, armored truck,
that had a Playstation inside that you could play while driving.
And for some reason that was just the most incredible thing, and then novelty that --
That was used to solicit recruitment.
So back then they didn't have Playstation.
What they had was branding posters.
And so I want you for the U.S. army, this is interesting
because on the right we'll start with this.
For some reason we'll go right to left.
We'll say how this is, you know, a full English very image intense incentive
to join the U.S. army.
And that's compared to a poster on the left, and the poster on the left has, you know,
a variety of different languages in which to elicit participation
from the contextual term aliens, from immigrants, who are living in the United States.
Either -- Yes.
And to really sort of cement that connection, seen --
And back through here we go back to [inaudible] day.
Many, many, many sort of nationalistic incentives and,
like we saw in the Camp Upton image,
opportunities to turn military service in to a melting pot.
So coming to Joseph Rosenblum, Joseph Rosenblum's an interesting story
because unlike Harry Freeman who'd lived in the country long enough to become naturalized,
Joseph Rosenblum had been here since 1913, and he immigrated one year prior to the Great War.
So he left Romania and arrived in the United States in 1913, and because he intended
to naturalize, he was also eligible for the World War I draft.
And what's so fascinating is, yes, he returned to Europe
and fought on the side of his homeland.
So, like I said, another example of, you know, this cross Atlantic tug of war
with European immigrants coming to the United States and then returning to combat
and then returning back to the United States.
And I should speak a little bit more about Harry Freeman.
Harry Freeman and Joseph Rosenblum --
Harry Freeman, his collection was actually recently featured
in a World War I educator's book.
He's got a fascinating diary, and in addition it's one of our favorites because --
The reason why I use PowerPoint is because my handwriting is so atrocious,
and I always feel bad for anybody who had to read my handwritten notes.
Harry Freeman is quite the opposite.
His diary is -- His entries are clean and beautiful and also evocative
because you can feel the pit in your stomach as you count the pages from, you know,
November 10th to November 11th and his notes on the end of the war.
So I absolutely recommend perhaps I can throw some links around at the end
and share that material with you.
What's so fascinating is because, you know, World War I is an age of writing,
it's an age of manuscripts, and so looking at that image in front of you right now,
the Joseph Rosenblum image, so as opposed to the, you know, counting out time,
dates on the calendar, Joseph Rosenblum is quite the opposite.
And in addition, I encourage you to [inaudible] link around to this later.
Because he -- First of all, he writes music.
And second of all, he compares his life
and he compares his experience to, you know [inaudible] writers.
You know, cynical writers like Voltaire.
And which, you know, he's plunged in to the first world war
and it's the only thing that makes sense to him.
So throughout his diary he draws these fantastic parallels between his firsthand experience
as a soldier and then also his connection and his interpretation of his life
through works of literature or music.
So it's just an incredible collection.
So coming on to the third in our series, which is somewhat of an outlier compared to Freeman
and Rosenblum, Freeman and Rosenblum both served in -- Oh.
Both immigrated from nations who served with the allied forces
or who were part of the allied forces.
And Albert [inaudible] differs because he's both second generation, his mom was Irish
and his dad was German, and he was born in Chicago.
So he has that immigrant experience by way of his parents,
but also is a volunteer as opposed to a conscript.
So doesn't do Selective Service.
Volunteers for service at age 28.
Looking through my notes, he had been a 28 year old surveyor when he enlisted.
And during his service he -- We had this fascinating
out letter collection back and forth.
And, like I said before in terms of handwriting --
And I'm going to be the first one that I throw under the bus, but there's nothing better
than having a letter collection and also a transcript next to it.
So I've shared some of the typed letters.
And you can really see this amazing complementary back and forth.
So it's interesting.
Now he stayed on in Europe after the occupation, after Armistice Day.
And it's very interesting to sort of talk about that second generation American perspective
and his special note that he sharply observed the French whom he found incredibly grateful
to the allied effort, and coming from a German father he was not allowed
to speak or interact with Germans.
So -- And he's compelled and he makes a special note of that.
And his [inaudible] to that is just much like all of our other collections
and just a biographical and a -- In a memory, you know, throughout generations of veterans
and VHP -- It talks about the haunting, haunting effects of the battles
and skirmishes that he witnessed.
So in addition to these three stories, like I said before,
we have more than 400 World War I collections as a whole.
And what we do quarterly, this is something special
since the library's commemorating the first world war right now --
But quarterly the Veterans History Project will find a theme,
whether that's disabled American veterans or whether that --
Or Japanese American veterans or women in military service
or African American soldiers through the generations.
What we do is we look through our collections and we identify content --
rich content collections with compelling oral histories and a series of photographs
and manuscripts and correspondence, and they're well described.
And what we do is we turn that into what we call a web feature,
and the web feature is narrative driven.
This one's about the first world war, and this one's in sub components arguing over war
and over here [inaudible] the "Echoes of the Great War" exhibit.
Over there on a world overturned,
again paralleling the "Echoes of the Great War" exhibit.
And what you'll have here, and we'll absolutely circulate these links at the end,
are opportunities for you to click through and learn again from dozens
of fully described digitized World War I collections.
You know, that place them in a historical context that talks
about their individual experiences and connect them to a larger work by theme.
And in addition to World War I, we have a good many, I think nearly 100 now, experiencing wars,
each chapter with different themes.
And also all of those searches, all of those well described stories,
can be found by searching through the veteran's name as well which really gives you a nice A
to Z. And conflict experience and nationality diversity as you scroll through our collections.
And, like I said before, learn firsthand from immigrants throughout the generations as well
as natural citizens and really a broad [inaudible] of various narratives
that we have pulled together through the efforts of oral historians, volunteers,
and as I started bringing in in the comments, folks who had taken the stories
of their families and sent them to the Library of Congress where we can share them nationally
through our online collections and through the American Folklife Center reading room.
And also through installations and exhibits like "Echoes of the Great War"
where some VHP materials are featured.
And yes. As I said before, "Echoes of the Great War" is currently on display.
It will be there.
The online exhibition will be online until January 2019.
And just like you can click through VHP materials, I encourage you to look
through "Echoes of the Great War."
To be honest, one of the things that -- So I'm a trained oral historian,
and so I always like to hone in on the oral histories.
And one of the things that was a challenge for me
with this was we quite literally have no World War I veterans who we can ask
in an oral history setting now what age he joined the service.
What motivated you to join?
And by immersing yourself in "Echoes of the Great War," those questions are answered.
For me, just looking around, like I said, at the photograph of --
Or at the poster of "Attention to all aliens,"
or the Uncle Sam [inaudible] it really offers an immersive experience
for a generation that's gone.
But yeah. And with that, I know that that's kind of a deep point to leave you hanging off,
but I'm very interested in hearing from the group and answering some questions.
>> Great. Well, please do let us know if you have questions in the chat.
It looks like there was one question about submitting photographs from World War I,
and Megan [assumed spelling] has replied to look at the VHP website, loc.gov/vets,
and also -- Or email [inaudible] at loc.gov.
But I don't know if you have other thoughts about what you're looking for in terms
of collections, especially when it comes to World War I.
What you do accept.
>> So yes.
We do. So in terms of World War I donations, like I said before, there's --
There is potential for oral history in the form of a legacy recording.
Like if, by chance, your family or a student recorded a story of a World War I veteran
in your life, we would -- And it's in a compliant format or --
Just reach out to us and describe the material.
In addition to those legacy recordings, we're always looking for opportunities
to collect manuscripts and we consider a complete collection as one that has
at least 20 pages of military orders or memoir or journal pages
or at least 10 original photographs or additive correspondence or creative works.
But just in terms of [inaudible] institution and we live on our nuances.
So if you have any World War I materials that you'd like to share with us or talk to us about
or show examples of, we look forward to working with you and seeing what we can do to make sure
that your family history and the experience of your World War I ancestor is preserved here.
So, as I said before, it's a 30/20 [inaudible] or catchphrase.
>> Okay. Well, thank you.
So then another question.
Do you have -- Is there something that you've found truly surprising
about someone's service during World War I or something
that just was a surprise to you in these archives?
>> So I feel like every day I'm finding a new story, and I know that that's sort of a maxim
that gets used up a lot, you know.
What's your favorite story?
You know, the next one.
But there is some truth to that.
In terms of World War I stories, I would honestly say that the Freeman diary is just
so powerful to me because everybody here is, you know --
It's so branded, and I'm not sure if this is the social studies curriculum, but the armistice is
such an epoch, and at least it was in my learning in American learning.
And here Harry Freeman tells a story of being ordered
in to an engagement hours before the armistice.
And having at the end of the battle the smoke clear and realizing
that he was completely -- He was in a pocket.
He was completely encircled.
And that, you know, had the bell not chimed or had the bell not tolled at 11/11/11,
he wouldn't have survived the war.
And it's just this mix of absurdity and experience that just draws me right in to it.
>> That's great.
You know, we'll have to -- I'm intrigued now.
I haven't read through the Freeman diary.
So I want to go do that now.
There are really such wonderful ones.
I'm especially taken with Irving Greenwald who's not an immigrant,
but he's a child of immigrants, but there are so many wonderful stories on your website.
There's questions coming through about VHP's collecting policies
which I think Megan is addressing.
But a question about Camp Upton.
Is there anything else on VHP's website about Camp Upton?
I think the question was specifically, "Is there a searchable --
Is something searchable about Camp Upton?"
Which I think is not the case, but are there other veteran stories
from Camp Upton that you know of, by chance?
>> Offhand?
>> Oh. And Megan says it is [inaudible] database is searchable by service location.
So that's good.
And she just sent the link.
So that's fabulous.
>> Thanks, Megan.
Yeah. So and there's a variety of different service locations to veterans,
and that includes training and deployment.
So from one pathway to another, all of those that the veteran indicated
on their biographical information when we accepted their collection or it was attributed
in the service history notes, we would be able to find that information on the backend as well
as you'd be able to find it on the frontend through that link.
>> Thanks.
And then a few were content questions.
Is World War I the war they said would end all wars?
That's a -- Is that something you feel like you can answer on?
>> I feel like that's something that, you know, we could write a monograph on that.
Or we could all, you know, settle around in a circle and have a moderated panel.
It's -- It seems without precedent, but also -- So without precedent, and I would say --
And this is me as a public historian, not a [inaudible] historian.
To our veteran stories, we see consistent effects on the veterans of war.
And the consequence of war in general as told through their experience,
as evidenced through their correspondence, manuscripts, and diaries,
and the war to end all wars, seeing that the effects of the war persist through veterans
of World War II, Korea, Cold War, Vietnam, Persian Gulf, Afghan and Iraq wars,
and in to war experiences, I would say that in that capacity it's not unique.
>> Yeah. Thank you.
And I think it's actually -- This question is a nice segue to our -- to closing.
And then a reminder that this is part of a series and maybe you can flip the slide
to the next because I would encourage you, Megan Parker who asked that question,
to come back to the series next month when we will have [inaudible] who's a historian
in a manuscripts division and is one of the curators of the exhibition talking
about Woodrow Wilson's decision to go to war.
And he will talk more about the -- Obviously the reasons that Wilson
through the United States should be involved, and some of the language around the war,
that phrase being, "To end all wars" came later, but this idea about the extent
to which the war was to make the world safe for democracy
and what Wilson's war aims were will be the next session which is October 24, 2017 at 2PM.
After that we'll have -- Well, we'll have one a month
so the next will be November 28th at 2 o'clock.
We'll look at prints of Liberty bond drive prints called [inaudible] liberty Paris
which is a really evocative image of New York City destroyed by the enemy made
by Joseph Pennell who's a famous print maker.
And we'll have a specialist, Catherine [assumed spelling] [inaudible]
from our prints and photographs division.
And the last session will be December 12th, again at 2 o'clock looking
at Charles Hamilton Houston and how his wartime experience as a young officer serving
in a segregated military influenced his later work in civil rights,
including as chief attorney for the NAACP and a mentor to Thurgood Marshall.
So I hope that you will return.
If you have other questions, you can always, you know, add them here.
We'll answer a few more at the end or you can email Owen
and his team at [inaudible] at llc.gov.
We thank you for participating in this session
and would love your feedback at the link that you see here.
Oh. Was hoping to tell the story of an immigrant veteran who resided in Missouri,
able to search VHP site by location.
Again. And Owen?
>> Yes. So we do have a local history plug in, and if you go to our website
and our collections database you can browse by state history.
And from there find him by last name or her.
>> Great. Thank you.
And if anyone out there is a teacher, there's really great material
to support students doing oral histories on the VHP website as well.
So I hope you'll consider that.

What Happened to Asher Mir's Arm? - The Story You Never Knew (Destiny 2 Lore Story) - Duration: 5:54.What's up guys my name is Timbo, and today
we're going to be talking about the prickly awoken vendor on Io known only as a Asher Mir.
While most people probably know him as the snarky, maybe slightly annoying at times guy who gave you the Graviton Lance,
there's quite a bit more to him than what meets the eye. In this video
I'm going to go over his relatively unknown backstory discussing his relations with familiar faces,
tying it to other pieces of lore, and explaining just what happened to his right arm. And let me tell you, despite
what you may or may not know going into this video, I can almost guarantee
you'll be surprised with what I'm about to tell you. So without further ado,
let's get into the story. Before Asher was butting heads with Ikora on Io, the Warlock was like any other.
Asher, like Osiris, had a specific intrigue with the Vex, and spent much of his time studying them. While researching them,
Asher hired two Hunters to accompany him on his mission.
(Good Choice!) The three eventually ran into the PIymaridion on Io where they encountered Brakion, the Genesis Mind.
And this is a tangent, but I have to bring it up.
Why does every strike boss and Destiny have to be just a giant version of a basic enemy?
We've got big shanks, big captains, big servitors, big vandals, big hobgoblins, need I go on?
Bungie ...
You can try a little harder than that, just sayin'. Anyway, since Asher has a voice
he clearly isn't as god tier as you, boring, silent, interchangeable protagonist man that does all the things. Meaning
he was unsuccessful in his mission, getting captured in the process. the Vex Mind then issued experiments on Asher and the other Guardians with him,
attempting to graph Vex technology onto them. While his two companions perished, Asher was able to survive.
How you ask? I don't know self-res or some Warlock BS, who knows? Asher and his ghost escape the Vex, but with dire consequences.
Asher's ghost became heavily
augmented, possessing an unblinking red eye like we see on goblins. And even more prominent was Asher's right arm as we see it today,
replaced with a Vex construct. Now if you played the side missions or the Pymaridions strike on Io,
this might be information you're already aware of, but this for me is where things get very interesting.
Asher was able to make it back to the Last City
but quickly came catatonic and fell into a coma. The Vex arm acted as a growing
infection, attempting to take control over more of his body and mind.
Someone present during the scene was none other than Eris Morn.
Shortly before leaving the tower in an attempt to defeat the Hive outside the safety of the City,
she visited her friend in the Medical Bay, wishing him well,
but also noting that she would not be by his side in any of the City's
upcoming struggles. This creates a parallelism between Eris and Asher, as both of them have been changed by alien enemies.
We then of course know what happens next the red Legion invade
Ashur gets well and heads over to IO and as for Eris well
We aren't quite sure where she is the reason I find this part
So interesting is this back in the age of triumph or destiny one we knew of this event but back
then it had a completely different meaning I remember in both my video on Eris and
Osiris referencing this story and after learning of Ashur it gives it a completely different meaning back
Then I only thought it to be a way to explain the ornaments found in the updated vault of glass
But looking at it today the story of a schirmir possibly begins a much larger narrative
Unless Ashur can find a way to cure his vaccin
He much like khabar in the vault of glass will die this adds him to a list of characters with close ties to the vex
Osiris as stated many times before has grown very close to vex
technology the EXO stranger was in this boat as well and with the Osiris expansion slated for December it begs the question is this the
Last we will see of this vex infection Osiris can be connected to many different things
I will admit the nine the vex Ashur the stranger, and I'm sure there's some other ones out there, too
I'm going to go out on a limb here and assume that the Osiris expansion will mainly involve the vex for its enemy race and
After revisiting this story, it wouldn't surprise me if asher will be involved at least somewhat as well
I know Bungie, and how they constantly squander potential they've created
But I really hope that they are able to tie in some of these mysteries and finally explain them as for Eris morn
No one can quite know for sure where she is I've already made a video months ago talking about her if you'd like to watch
It I'll put it in the cards now, but as of right now. Nothing has really changed
Her so making me follow up video on her right now would be
Unnecessary and slightly redundant however with her connections to Asher. It wouldn't surprise me if he has involved somehow in her current
behind-the-scenes actions
but that is the story of
Asher mere down in the comments make sure to let me know what you thought do you think this vex?
Infection has anything to do with Osiris, or as Asher's are done for the foreseeable future. I do understand this type of video
It's a slight deviation from the norm here on this channel
Normally my videos are on an outlandish theory or critical opinion
But if you guys enjoyed this sort of shorter
Story format for a video let me know and tell me who or what you'd like me to talk about in the next video
These aren't what I want to base my entire channel off of but being in college with limited time this shorter
Explanatory format is easier for me for now you know from time to time
That's all I've got guys. If you enjoyed the video a positive rating
It's very appreciated if you're new to the channel make sure to subscribe
Thank you all so much for watching and as always. I'll see you in the next one

5 Disturbing Nosleep Stories - Horror Month 2017 - Day 3 - Duration: 4:54.Geeky Gaming Hey Geeks, it's Andrea.
The days are coming in so fast, aren't they?
It's Horror Month day 3 and I am going to share with you a few nosleep stories.
I love late at night staying up just reading these things…
Then being unable to sleep for more reasons than insomnia, as the name would imply.
Alright Geeks, let's go.
5.
I'm a 911 operator.
Just had the most terrifying call... by HiggsThunder Here is a nice short and creepy one to start
you off.
It is split up into two parts.
As far as I am aware, it hasn't been continued past these 2 sections.
It's a very quick read, so you should have no problem getting through this one.
Do you know that feeling when you get up in the middle of the night to get something…?
Whether you have been up all night working on, oh I don't know, writing and recording
for Horror Month, or just getting a drink.
That feeling of…
What if someone was right outside my window?
Okay it might not be something you think that often, unless you are like me…
A scaredy cat who also happens to like reading and watching horror-themed things.
But if you just think about it for a moment, it would be so freaking terrifying to just
look at your window and see someone there looking in.
This author takes those fears and puts them into a little bedtime story for you.
4.
The terrifying note addressed to my six-year-old son by Creeping_dread
Oh gosh, this one…
I feel like when I read this, I was so wide eyed and just couldn't stop reading.
I found myself on edge throughout every update.
The story starts out with a child getting a terrifying letter handed to him in his own
back yard.
Every update, or chapter, to this story is short enough to keep your attention and written
in a way that is believable enough to keep you on the edge of your seat.
I don't want to give any spoilers, but honestly I can't imagine what I would do when placed
in the protagonist's position.
3.
Room 733 by The_Dalek_Emperor Let's just start you off with the first
3 words of this story.
The suicide room.
Already catches your attention with just 3 little words.
You shouldn't ever do this, but if you just read the last couple lines in this after reading
the first, you're already intrigued.
The story follows 2 girls, Lydia and Becca, as they stay in room 734, the room right next
to this suicide room.
If you imagine yourself hearing, feeling, and seeing some of the things these girls
do throughout the story, you would definitely be unhappy in their shoes.
This one is moderately long, but definitely worth the read.
2.
I Dared My Best Friend to Ruin My Life - He's Succeeding by Zandsand90
You Geeks remember Josh, right?
He hasn't been around here for a while and probably won't for a while unfortunately.
Anyway, he was obsessed with this story when it was first posted on nosleep.
I mean, obsessed.
I was really busy at the time and he was asking me all the time if I had read it.
So clearly, at least to him, this is a freaking good read.
Honestly it took me a while to get into it because it was so frustrating at first.
I felt myself getting so upset with what this poor guy in the story was going through.
That just goes to show how well this was written.
It is a very, very long story about 2 guys who decide to try to ruin each other's lives.
Just to see who can win this little bet.
It goes down some crazy paths, so I don't want to spoil too much for you, but if you
have the time, check this one out.
I'm not going to spoil anything, but don't give up on the story if you get frustrated
like I did.
It's worth seeing it through.
1.
My dead girlfriend keeps messaging me on Facebook.
I've got the screenshots.
I don't know what to do. by natesw Any nosleep accompanied by visuals to help
solidify the story gains extra points in my book right off the bat.
The protagonist of this story is a guy who tragically lost his girlfriend of five years
in a car accident a few years prior.
A bit over a year after her death, her Facebook account starts sending him messages.
The messages seem more and more revealing yet more insane as the story goes on.
This one is a nice quick read.
Both a little sad and messed up at the same time.
If you are wanting to read just one of these tonight, this is the one I would pick simply
because it is a good, easy read and they went the extra mile to create the screencaps.
Alright Geeks, that's going to do it for this video.
Thank you so much for hanging out with me today.
If you're interested in these, you have a lot of reading to do.
I linked to their reddit submissions in the description.
Do me a favor and leave me a like, comment, and subscribe on your way out.
Don't forget the limited time Horror Month t-shirt is only available this month, so get
it while you can.
There is also a link to our bandcamp if you want to pick up a copy of the Horror Month
song.
If you missed it, there is a lyric video of sorts for it in the Horror Month playlist.
Alright Geeks, I will see you tomorrow.

Eye Twitching Remedies: Why Does my Eye Twitch? - Duration: 2:26.Hello Boys and Girls.
Chances are your eyelid is doing some crap it shouldn't be doing.
I'm going to be showing you some eye twitching remedies so that you can finally get rid of
that Forrest Whitaker bow-sh** you got going on.
I am a prisoner.
"Queries of the Interweb!"
Hows it going guys.
Joel here and I amusingly answer questions that are searched for every single day.
If this is your first time here, smash that subscribe button so that you don't miss anything.
With that out of the way, let's talk about eye twitching remedies.
What is an eye twitch.
An eye twitch is an involuntary spasm of the eyelid muscle.
Now according to healthline dot com the most common causes of eyelid twitching is stress,
fatigue and caffeine.
So if you're drinking five cups of Starbucks a day, yeah, I think it's pretty obvious where
the eye twitching comes from.
For starters, you're going to want to cut back on the caffeine and make sure you're
getting adequate sleep okay.
Staying up 'till five AM watching South Park isn't doing you or your eyelid any good.
Toilet, Toilet.
I need you to clean my toilet.
I need you to clean my toilet!
So you're getting enough sleep, you've cut back on the caffeine, the next hing you're
gonna want to do, make sure your eye stays lubricated, okay.
Go to CVS, go to Walgreens, get some eye drops.
Okay.
Wet those eyes of yours okay.
Keep them nice and moist.
Another thing you're going to want to do is you're going to want to take a warm cloth
of some sort and rub it up against your eye when it starts to spasm.
Hold a warm cloth against your eye okay, just do it.
It'll keep your eye moist, it'll keep your muscles warm and if you want to reduce stress
which is another cause of eyelid twitching, do some yoga, meditate, listen to some relaxing
music.
Go on a stress-free walk.
Let some of that pend up anxiety out.
So what are those eye twitching remedies again?
Cut back on caffeine, get enough sleep, use eye drops to moisten your eyes and rub a warm
cloth on your eye when it starts to spasm.
De-stress yourself by doing something relaxing.
Now you know your eye twitching remedies.
Oh, crap... oh crap!
Thanks for watching guys, I'll see you in the next video.
Peace!

Justice League NEWS Zack Synder MASTER Plan REVEALED? Justice League Won't Feel Like Infinity War? - Duration: 6:59.what is good YouTube Warstu here with a video on the Justice League movie so
yesterday we got some confirmation from the actors who are actually in the
Justice League movie these are rumors these are actually information from the
people who worked on the movie and who are the start of the movie and that that
Justice League movie is a Zack cider movie and we've got confirmation that
Zack Snyder is a absolute genius he played everyone into thinking his vision
wasn't going the way he wanted when really he created the darkest night
before the lightest dawn what I mean by this well within the three movies which
you don't know obviously he directed Man of Steel but of a Superman and the
Justice League his plan was always to make the universe dark and gritty before
making the Justice League a lighter tone movie post Justice League post towards
the end which is pretty amazing because Batman vs Superman got heavy criticism
for being so dark and gritty but let's face it guys who didn't want to see
Batman and Superman smash each other well we know you did you're off you
didn't because the numbers the numbers are crazy scene is critically it was a
disaster but at the box office numbers don't lie it grossed a lot so you can't
say it was bad people weren't happy that it was a different version of Batman
Batman different versions Bruce Wayne Batman killed yes but what's the point
of having a generic boring Batman why copy Danone and brothers Batman there's
no point so at least you can say the Zack Snyder's made Batman a different
version of Batman so everyone thought that Joss Whedon everyone thinks I don't
like Joss Whedon I think Joss Whedon's really good I just didn't like the way
that they were discrediting Zack Snyder's work when they had no actual
evidence so everyone thought that Joss Whedon was going to be the savior that
Joss Whedon was gonna turn Justice League into The Avengers but that's not
the case and we've got antral evidence not click based off evidence so let's
get into it Ezra Miller told Empire Magazine
foreign the first time I ever sat in Saks office he told me people were mad
at him for making things too dark so slack always intended for Justice League
to write out the darkness and maybe even bring Batman with them maybe an inch so
what does this mean guys well Ezra Miller had a cameo role in bat
vs. Superman and he also had a cameo role in Suicide Squad so what does this
mean this means that as sue Miller knew their vision for Justice League before
they even started to shoot it so when everyone was coming out saying it's
going to be a lighter tone because of Joss Whedon Ezra Miller must have been
laughing at everyone because it was always a plan it was a massive plan
there's been so much time between Man of Steel and the Justice League movie
finally come in and also some other information we know the movie is totally
still a Zack Snyder movie yes josh is helping out a lot because obviously we
all know the personal family issues that Zack Snyder had had this not happened he
would have been totally in control but obviously it's still his movie obviously
josh is just doing work that he wanted so I quote this is a Zack Snyder movie
Wonder an actress gal the doc told Empire Josh only did a few weeks of
reshoot he was Zacks guy and knew exactly what he wanted to get he has a
beautiful vision so guys I really can't understand how people still think it's a
Joss Whedon movie I do actually think it will be a lot of talk tiny bit better
now that josh josh is really good at getting characters to kind of develop
like character development kind of getting the audience into buying into
what they're trying to sell so from that aspect I think it's a good idea that
Joss is part of the Justice League movie but I think it's awesome that Zack had
this gritty plan and then when Superman rises in just a league make everything
it'll light again that was another criticism Zack Snyder a lot of people
didn't like his version of Superman because he wasn't like the generic kind
of Christopher Reeve version which personally I had loved the fact that he
didn't do this I didn't sense that we were moving on to
something that felt like the Avengers Josh is more than just an Avengers
director he explained so that's cool because a lot of people are worried that
they're just going to turn the Justice League into another boring generic
Avengers kind of movie yes I like the Avengers but let's be honest guys
it is PG twelve well it is for kids the characters aren't very good asset for
Loki and the villains aren't very good he's a good storyteller
full-stop in midstream just got on and part of what interested him was the
puzzle aspect of it fitting in the pieces that weren't there yet he put the
rest of the pieces in and gave his his own interpretation so what this means is
yes Josh will get writing credits because he most likely did right up to
30% of the movie but he didn't rewrite everything because if you go and read
the Empire magazine you actually see that every actor is saying that this is
AK movie I know you could say they're contracted by Warner Brothers they're
not going to say anything bad about it but the same time they're not going to
lie just to make you come watch it because you're not more likely to go
watch it because it's a just movie down a Zack Snyder movie in my opinion I
think it's so cool the Zack Snyder has set up the darkest night before the
light of the dawn and that is most likely gonna be my title which is
awesome guys so let me know in the comment box down below do you think it's
really cool Zack Snyder set this really dark and
gritty universe which personally I love and then they're gonna make it a lighter
tone but this was his plan from years ago this was always his plan which is
quite interesting because everyone thought that Joss Whedon was the kind of
person behind that so I think it's so cool and the fact that he's kind of
doing the darkest nights the light of the door and makes me think that
Superman's return is gonna be catastrophic
not catastrophic that's the wrong word it's gonna be absolutely insane anyway
guys this has been the video please like subscribe and comment if you want to I
do videos like this all week long I also cover MCU stuff the flash stuff the
arrows more of that stuff coming next week then
the TV shows come back but mainly Justice League and kind of MCU stuff
currently hit that Bell button down below that red bug to help the channel
grow that would be awesome and we will catch you in another video guys very
soon catcher later

Republican Politicians Hide From Media After Vegas Tragedy - Duration: 4:29.On Tuesday morning, Mika Brzezinski from MSNBC's Morning Joe admitted that their show and others
on MSNBC could not find a single Republican politician willing to come on the air and
talk about the tragic shooting that took place in Las Vegas on Sunday night.
They couldn't find any elected Republican who would come on the show and somehow tell
us what we need to do now in terms of response to this tragedy.
Do you know why?
It's a very obvious reason, ladies and gentlemen.
It's because Republicans have no more talking points that they can expend on this tragedy.
Their usual talking points of, well, if a good guy with a gun was there, he could have
stopped this.
Really?
How are you going to handle the fact if there was a good guy with a gun in that crowd just
shooting randomly up at a hotel, a wall full of windows on different floors, not knowing
where exactly the shooter is, how many more people could have died if that happened?
That's why we're not necessarily hearing that particular talking point from Republicans
right now.
All we're hearing is that now is not the time to talk about gun control.
Okay.
Okay.
We've had, what, I think 477 mass shootings in the United States so far this year.
When is the time to talk about it?
Because if we can't talk about it immediately after a tragedy, considering how many we have
in the United States, then we would literally never be able to talk about it.
If now is not the time after Vegas, then when?
The time is now.
This is just like when the Trump administration said, "Following the hurricanes, now is not
the time to talk about climate change."
No, it is.
It's the perfect time.
You have an opening.
You have the perfect opportunity.
This is what we need as a country.
There is no reason.
The shooter in this case had 43 guns.
43 high powered assault rifles in his possession, both in the hotel room and back at his home,
the majority of them were in that hotel room.
The guy who ran the gun shop in Las Vegas who sold him the weapons said the guy was
in and out the door like 50,000 times a day.
I know he was being a little exaggerating there but, still, if the guy is coming in
and out of your shop multiple times every single day, if you know that he has purchased
43 assault rifles from you, don't you think that that should be a warning sign?
That's what gets me about this whole thing is everybody says, "Well, he had no warning
signs.
He had no motive."
No.
When a guy purchases 43 assault rifles and spends all of his time coming in and out of
a gun shop, that's the warning sign, idiots.
Nobody needs that many assault rifles.
Nobody needs an assault rifle.
Let's just put it at that.
There was a time in this country, in fact, that time was about 13 years ago, when we
had an assault rifle weapon ban in the United States.
It expired under the George W. Bush administration, but it had been in place for a very long time.
People didn't need these high powered assault rifles.
We understood that as a country, so we banned them for civilian purchase.
It was constitutional.
It was okay.
It didn't result in the government coming around and taking your guns away from you.
We still had mass shootings but nowhere near, not even a fraction, of what we have today
in this country.
It wasn't perfect, but it helped.
We could do that again.
But Republican lawmakers will not let us because the NRA won't let them.
That is why none of these Republicans have enough courage to go in front of the media
and explain why they choose to do nothing.

Bioengineering infant heart patches with the baby's own heart cells - Science Nation - Duration: 3:38.This is not three-year-old Jaden Senn's first time
seeing the fish at Children's Hospital Colorado.
In fact, you might say he's an old hand around here.
Dr. Jim Jaggers: Well, Jaden was born
with a very complex heart defect.
The left side of his heart,
his left ventricle, his aortic valve,
his mitral valve
and parts of his aorta were all hypoplastic,
meaning they didn't form normally.
They're too small.
Dr. Jim Jaggers: Do you want to put these on?
Jaden: No!
Dr. Jim Jaggers: OK, should I do it?
Miles O'Brien: And that meant surgery
for young Jaden - three operations so far,
with more on the horizon.
Jaden: Hey, zumba, zumba!
Miles O'Brien: Congenital heart surgeon Jim Jaggers
has had to basically rebuild Jaden's heart,
using synthetic patches.
Dr. Jim Jaggers: The problem with all these patches
we use, are - they're non-living.
They don't contract like the heart does.
They don't grow with the child as they get older.
They don't have electrical activity
like the normal heart does. Miles O'Brien:
But what if instead of multiple surgeries,
just one operation could fix a heart defect
once and for all?
Jeff Jacot: We think that we can
make a living heart tissue
grown in the laboratory
from cells
that belong to the infant. Miles O'Brien:
With support from the National Science Foundation,
bioengineer Jeff Jacot and a team
at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical
Campus are pioneering new techniques in regenerative medicine,
working to create a heart patch made of an infant's own tissue
that would repair the defect
and then grow right along with the baby.
Jeff Jacot: The big challenge
that we have is making something
that can be implanted
and stays alive. Miles O'Brien:
They make patches in the lab, using a process called electrospinning.
This "scaffold," as it is called,
gives the patch structure,
so it can be sutured into place.
The idea is to infuse it
with stem cells harvested from the baby
before it's even born.
Jeff Jacot: We've shown that
we can grow blood vessels
and we can grow the blood supply needed
for heart tissue out of those.
And we've recently shown
that we can make cells from amniotic fluid
into beating heart cells. Miles O'Brien:
Once implanted, the stem cells in the patch grow into healthy tissue.
And the scaffold eventually dissolves away.
Jeff Jacot: It will grow as the infant
and child grows
and give full heart function back
to these infants with heart defects
without the need for lifelong operations.
Miles O'Brien: Reliable manufacture
of bioengineered heart patches is still in the early stages.
But Dr. Jaggers says eventually they will
significantly improve outcomes
for infants with heart defects

something that would have electrical activity,
and something that could contract would be a game changer.
Miles O'Brien: Putting regenerative medicine
to work literally mending broken hearts
- kinda makes mine go pitter pat.
For Science Nation, I'm Miles O'Brien. Miles O'Brien reporting.

Sleepy Revealed To Have Done This To Comedienne Jang Do Yeon While Drunk - Duration: 1:14.Sleepy Revealed To Have Done This To Comedienne Jang Do Yeon While Drunk
It looks like rapper Sleepy has some interesting drinking habits!.
During the October 3 broadcast of SBS PowerFMs 2 OClock Escape Cultwo Show, Sleepy shared, I had dinner with the cast and crew of Cultwo Show yesterday, but I dont remember anything. I was just talking to people and the next thing I knew, I was at home..
DJ Jung Chan Woo then revealed, Sleepy was sitting in front of Jang Do Yeon, and he suddenly started stroking her head. People usually do this once or twice when they find someone cute, but he did it for three minutes..
After claiming that he didnt remember, Sleepy admitted that he did it because he was fascinated by how flat Jang Do Yeons head was.
