Youtube daily report w Oct 14 2017

In today's developed world, jobs aren't anywhere near as dangerous as they were back

in the day.

During the industrial revolution in the 17th and 18th centuries in the UK, there were all

sorts of jobs that could lead to an early death or life threatening illness.

Perhaps the worst job of all was the chimney sweep, an occupation suitable for the small

body of a child.

These children were often orphans, or sometimes poor kids nabbed from the streets.

The workhouses weren't any better, places where children were malnourished and worked

almost constantly.

Then in the 19th century, the working class Brits faced the harsh occupation of coal mining,

something writer George Orwell investigated, resulting in his utter dismay of the working

conditions he found.

Are any jobs that dangerous today?

That's what we'll find out in this episode of the Infographics Show, Most Dangerous Jobs.

Don't forget to subscribe and click the bell button so that you can be part of our

Notification Squad.

We are going to stick with the developed world for this show, as most of our readers will

be able to relate to these jobs and may even work in that particular occupation.

We do, however, want to say that around the less developed world, there are many jobs

more dangerous than you'll see on this list.

Fishing or mining for instance is certainly more dangerous in some parts of Africa than

in the USA, and we cannot compare infrastructure and health and safety of a coltan mine in

the Democratic Republic of Congo to a coal mine in the UK.

Mining is still a dangerous job, though, wherever you go.

The last terrible mining accident in the US happened as recently as 2010, when 29 people

lost their lives at Upper Big Branch Mine in West Virginia due to an explosion.

Though if we look at the US Bureau of Labor statistics as well as the UK's Office for

National Statistics regarding workplace mortality figures, mining is not even listed in the

top ten of the most dangerous jobs.

Today we'll focus mainly on those two countries due to the availability of statistics in English,

but also because the jobs are common around the world.

As motor companies such as Tesla, Ford and General Motors promise us that their self-driving

tech is almost ready to take to the roads, we are told this will lead to less accidents

occurring while driving.

Drivers, whether they are truck drivers, taxi drivers or motorcycle couriers, have one of

the most dangerous occupations.

This is probably a far safer occupation in the UK and US than in some developing nations.

The average death toll from traffic accidents around the world is 17.4 people per 100,000.

In the US it's 10.6 and in the UK just 2.9.

The worst countries are the Dominican Republic at 41.7 and Thailand at 38.1.

Imagine being a driver in one of those countries!

The last available statistics tell us that in the USA, 880 truck drivers died in a year

in accidents, and those that lasted the year earned an average of $38,030.

The UK saw 41 deaths of truck drivers – although they say "lorry driver" in the UK.

They earn slightly less at an average of $31,151.

The US also has taxi driving high on its list.

When the study was taken it found that 68 people died in one year while behind the wheel

of a taxi or a hired private car.

Another dangerous job in those two countries, and the world over, is fishing.

It's said to be the second most dangerous job in the USA, even though only 22 people

died the year the statistics were taken.

Not so many people work in the industry, though, so the death per capita at 80.8 per 100,000

is very high.

It's one of the hardest jobs in the world, and when equipment malfunctions or bad weather

sets in, these workers may have a perilous journey through the seas.

The UK doesn't have fishing on the list, but in just 6 months in 2016, the industry

had a slew of incidents that resulted in the loss of 9 workers.

After that bad period, research was undertaken to see how dangerous the job was.

It was revealed that 55 percent of British fishers had suffered injuries on the job,

including amputations and fractures.

The average wage for a UK fisher is anywhere from 13,000 – 26,000 dollars a year.

In the US the average yearly wage is $29,970.

Sticking with the UK, their most dangerous job at the moment is farming.

Farming in the UK resulted in 167 deaths in 2016.

This was mainly due to heavy industrial machinery, although in 2017 the UK media reported a case

in which a farmer died after his pet pig bit off his penis and three fingers.

According to the media, the man had started the fight.

This is one tough job, and one in which the average worker in the UK will receive about

29,524 dollars a year.

Farming is also on the US's most dangerous list, with 26.7 per 100,000 workers dying

on the job and 270 workers dying in one year.

American farmers earn much more though on average, with a yearly wage of 69,880 dollars,

but we think the UK figure is probably for farm laborers only.

To give you an idea of the danger, in 2016, an American farmer was killed by what was

called a deadly dome of manure.

When he broke the hard outer shell of the mound of excrement, a deadly fog of methane

and sulfur dioxide killed him and 16 of his cows.

Another job on both lists is construction worker, or builder in the UK.

In the USA, it was reported that 19.2 per 100,000 workers died in one year, or 25 in

total.

Again, heavy machinery is to blame, but also falls or being electrocuted.

For such a small country, 101 construction deaths in the UK might come as a bit of a

surprise.

The average wage for a construction laborer in the UK is about 24,091 dollars a year.

In the US, it's about 31,090 dollars.

Part of construction is roofing, and that in itself is a dangerous job.

It accounts for about 47.4 per 100,000 deaths of workers in the USA.

That was 83 deaths in one year.

Falls are obviously to blame here, but many workers break bones when they don't lose

their life.

In the UK, it's also up there on the most dangerous jobs list with 69 deaths in one

year, but that study also included people working on scaffolds.

The average wage in the UK for this dangerous occupation is about 32,265 dollars a year.

In the US it's 40,630 dollars a year.

Sticking with similar trades, the UK also has electrical, plumbing and other installation

down as a dangerous job, one that resulted in 26 deaths in one year.

The US did not have this on its list, but did have electrical power line installers

and repairers, jobs that resulted in 25 losses of life in one year.

Now on to another job that made both the UK and US list.

That job is garbage collection, or in the UK waste collection or less formally "bin

man".

In the US this difficult and sometimes malodourous occupation was the cause of 35.8 people dying

per 100,000 workers in one year.

That was 27 deaths in total.

Doing the same job on the streets of the UK resulted in 20 deaths in one year.

How much do they get on average for this difficult job?

In the US, 36,370 dollars a year on average, and in the UK 23,440 dollars a year on average.

You might ask how do they die?

In a story published in the Atlantic called "The Dangerous Life of a Trash Collector,"

the interviewee explains that if you are complacent in this job, "you're basically looking for

death".

He said the machinery itself can be dangerous, as is some of the waste they collect.

You are also driving all day, and we already know how dangerous that is.

Surely being a police officer is more dangerous?

As you'll know from our other show on UK and US police, only a handful of UK officers

are killed on the job each year.

Nonetheless, research also said a British cop was assaulted every 13 seconds, sometimes

with a deadly weapon.

US cops carry deadly weapons and so are assaulted less, but in 2016, 135 police officers died

in the line of duty.

64 officers were shot and killed, 53 died in car accidents, and the rest died from job-related

illness.

Soldier deaths in both countries are much lower, but we all know it can be a very dangerous

job.

However, the most dangerous job in the US is none of the above.

It's actually the job of logging, something they don't do much of in the UK as they

don't have many trees.

It's listed as the most dangerous job in the US with 110.9 per 100,000 workers losing

their lives in one year.

That was 78 deaths in all.

This brings us to the end of our show?

Have you worked in any of these jobs?

If not, what's the most dangerous job you've ever had?

15 Creepy 2 Sentence Stories - Horror Month 2017 - Day 14 - Duration: 3:52.

Geeky Gaming Hey Geeks, it's Andrea.

We are doing to do things a little bit differently today.

There was a reddit post a few years ago that had people try to make some 2 sentence horror

stories, so we are going to go over a few of my favorites here.

Alright Geeks, let's go.

15.

The grinning face stared at me from the darkness beyond my bedroom window.

I live on the 14th floor.

14.

In my apartment, from my couch I can see the hallway outside from the gap under my front

door.

Every night the same two feet standing there, unmoving.

13.

You mutter the words, "Hey dad," as you recognize the familiar figure of your father in the

reflection of your laptop screen.

A personalized ringing signifies a text from your dad, it reads, "Tell mom I'll be home

late."

12.

She wondered why she was casting two shadows.

Afterall, there was only a single lightbulb.

11.

My sister says that mommy killed her.

Mommy says that I don't have a sister.

10.

Sleep did not come to me easily that night in the cabin in the woods for the portraits

on the wall only portrayed the deformed, the decrepit and the damned.

Sleep has never come easily to me ever again, for when I had woke I found no portraits,

only windows.

9.

"I can't sleep" she whispered, crawling into bed with me.

I woke up cold, clutching the dress she was buried in.

8.

The heart attack came and went, knocking Mike into unconsciousness, and as he awoke he could

hear the graveside service around him.

Somehow the casket was translucent to him and he recognized some of his friends, but

his body would not move and he realized with terror what death really was.

7.

I begin tucking him into bed and he tells me, "Daddy check for monsters under my bed."

I look underneath for his amusement and see him, another him, under the bed, staring back

at me quivering and whispering, "Daddy there's somebody on my bed."

6.

I wake up and everything feels wrong; it's too quiet outside.

I look out the window and see everyone standing still, looking at my house.

5.

After so many years living alone in this large house I came to a startling revelation.

In this time I had closed far more doors than I had opened.

4.

I was alone in my house when I was awoken by a noise and reached for my flashlight.

It was handed to me.

3.

My wife woke me up last night to tell me there was an intruder in our house.

She was murdered by an intruder 2 years ago.

2.

The last man on Earth sat alone in a room.

There was a knock at the door.

1.

The last thing I saw was my alarm clock flashing 12:07 before she pushed her long rotting nails

through my chest, her other hand muffling my screams.

I sat bolt upright, relieved it was only a dream, but as I saw my alarm clock read 12:06,

I heard my closet door creak open.

Alright Geeks, that's going to do it for this video.

Thank you so much for hanging out with me today.

I hope you enjoyed these mini horror stories as much as I did.

We are going to go over some more of these a couple more times this month.

They are just a lot of fun.

Geeks, the t shirt is only going to be available through the end of the month, so I hope you

pick yours up before they are gone forever.

On your way over there, be sure to subscribe, like, and comment.

Alright Geeks, I will see you tomorrow.

Most Dangerous Jobs - Duration: 7:29.

In today's developed world, jobs aren't anywhere near as dangerous as they were back

White House Insiders Growing Terrified Of Trump's Increasingly Dangerous Mood Swings - Duration: 3:46.

According to a new report, White House staffers, White House insiders, are growing increasingly

concerned over the fact that Donald Trump has essentially become what they call a pressure

cooker.

Meaning that all of these little things that happen that send Donald Trump into a massive

tizzy, whether it's John McCain voting against health care, whether it's Lisa Murkowski voting

against health care, Jeff Flake, the NFL, Carmen Cruz of Puerto Rico, all of those little

things start to build up inside of Donald Trump according White House insiders.

Eventually, he's going to blow, as that's what happens with a pressure cooker when you

don't take the pressure off of it or release it in time.

They're afraid.

They're afraid of Donald Trump.

This new report is telling us that these staffers, these insiders, don't know how to handle the

situation with Donald Trump because it is getting worse by the day.

Donald Trump is the kind of guy, according to these White House insiders, who bottles

things up to an extent ... we all know that he publicly loves to lash out at people ... but

he doesn't let it go.

He's not the kind of guy that gets angry about something, vents about it, and then moves

on with his life.

He is incapable of doing that.

So even though he vents it out, it's still there.

The pressure didn't go away and these insiders are concerned that Donald Trump might eventually

start blowing up at staff members.

We've already seen reports from the past few months that Donald Trump was throwing things

at the TV when they were reporting things that he didn't like.

We've seen reports in the past of staffers walking around in fear of Donald Trump, not

wanting to even make eye contact with him because he is so loony and that's what we're

seeing again today.

These people are living in fear because of our unhinged, unfit President of the United

States.

Donald Trump's anger is a very real issue that we have to treat as a very real issue.

It's something we have to take seriously.

It's something that has to be dealt with more importantly because it's one thing to go around

being angry all the time.

It's another to be angry all the time and also have access to nuclear codes and also

have access to the jobs of millions of people in this country where one outburst can affect

the stock market or a company shareholders in a way that results in massive lay offs.

It happens.

Talk to any analyst on Wall Street and they'll tell you that they very closely monitor what

President's say because every word, every tweet, everything has some kind of reaction

in the stock market.

While that doesn't affect as many Americans as say a nuclear war would, it does affect

some of them.

So Donald Trump's anger does have an effect on us folks.

That's why this is something that has to be taken seriously and that is just another reason

why the Senate, the House of Representatives, everybody in DC needs to come together, figure

out how to invoke the 25th amendment, and get this sociopath Donald Trump out of office

today.

27 Secrets To A Good Nights Sleep - How To Sleep Better - Duration: 11:05.

If you can't sleep, you can't heal. And in this video we're gonna talk about the 27

secrets to a good night's sleep. I think it's wonderful to help you get a

sleeping sanctuary and to learn how to heal. Check it out.

Hello everyone this is

Dr. Jason west I'm excited to share with you this topic on the sleeping sanctuary.

In this video I'm gonna talk about why it's so important to sleep but I'm gonna

share with you 27 secrets to having a good night's sleep because if you can't

sleep, you can't heal. And one of the things I tell people is we don't think

anything of going out and spending ten or fifteen or twenty or thirty thousand

dollars on a car that you're gonna be in ten percent of your life and then when I

tell people one of the most important things that you can do is to make sure

that you have a good bit. Because you're gonna spend 33% of your life. Eight hours

at night and you're gonna spend in your bed. You got to make sure that it's a

good bed. It's not one that you got it at good will. And now when you picked up

from grandma or grandpa or hand-me-down or got it from a cousin or anything like it.

I mean invest in a bed. It's the most important investment that you're gonna

make. But if you can't sleep, again you can't heal. I think it's one of the

absolute pillars of health. We know that it helps with brain function, we know it

helps with performance, we know it helps with mental cognition. It's a significant

risk factor in making sure you don't get type 2 diabetes. So all of these

wonderful benefits of your sleep and your sleeping sanctuary when you go to

that place this is where your body recharges and so let me start sharing

some of the topics associated with sleep. The first thing is it needs to be a dark

place. You can't sleep, you can't get into good healing patterns and REM mode if

you have too much light and the second thing is is you can't have too much

sound. Now what happens with that is if you have all these sounds and it's

disrupting your sleeping patterns you can't get it into restorative mode and

that also goes along with number three which is alarm clocks and LED lights and

and lights coming off your TV. Our body is an electrical system and if we have

other electrical systems in the area it has a tendency to throw them off which

leads to tip number four which is to have a grounding path. Now there's

actually a really neat way where you can take a grounding sheet and you can plug

it into the third little bowl in your electrical socket. The grounding socket

and you can ground electrical impulses. And you don't even have to

believe in this to see if it makes it work. I have had so many skeptics that

I've told about this to say that doesn't work and then what happens is they

ground themselves and they get way better restorative sleep. Another tip

that we need to follow is, I really like using alarm clocks just not LED alarm

clocks. Because what happens when you set an alarm clock and even if you wake up

at the same time every morning you're a creature of habit. What happens is if

you're struggling get to sleep and you tell your body I'm gonna rest because I

know my alarm clock is gonna wake me up at the time I'm supposed to get up I

found that a lot of people get better rest. Another sleeping tip I like to

share with people is journaling. I don't know if you ever had the experience of a

little woodpecker on your shoulder where it'll sit there and I'll say don't

forget about this don't forget about this what about your neighbor what about

your kids what about your to-do list. And if your journaling, you're actually write

those down it helps to get rid of your brain won't stop turning. It's a

fantastic way to get better rest. One of the best things you can do for sleep is

to give yourself positive affirmations. And tell yourself, I don't have a

sleeping problem. I get to sleep on time. I can get to sleep quickly. I can get to

sleep easily. I'll have restorative sleep. The ability to reconnect and to tell

your body that you're going to get rest is a really important step in making a

sleeping sanctuary. I think it's really important to make sure that you're going

to bed at the same time and you're getting up at the same time and this is

hard when you're in college. I'm guilty for this where I wanted to have a great

social life and on the weekends I go out and have a lot of fun and I would work

graveyard and grave shift and stuff like that as I was supporting myself, my wife as

we're going through school. But if you can get insistently go to bed at the

same time and get up at the same time every night it really helps with your

sleeping patterns. Now one of the neatest things that I found is to have some

white noise. I like waves crashing. You can get these little tiny recording

devices or you can plug it into your phone to give you relaxing white noise

or relaxing music. You want to make sure that it's not music that really gets you

up and excited to do different things. Maybe the hard rock or some of your

workout music isn't appropriate for trying to wind down but it'll really

help you get into a nice rhythm and get you to not off to sleep. One of the hard

things that so many people do are hard on themselves and they go to bed is they

get some type of sugary snack. You know my neck that was one of the favorite

things so many people do is to get a bowl of ice cream or a bowl of cereal or

eat a cookie or a brownie or have some type of sugar

drink and that's like adding energy to the system. It's really hard for your

body to show. So if you're one of those people that struggles with blood sugar

levels, hypoglycemia or the new terminology is neuroglycopenia which

means if your blood sugar gets too low the nerves fail. If you're waking up at

night it's a really good idea to have some protein before you go to bed. Some

cottage cheese or some nuts or some beans or even a piece of beef jerky

really helps you have sustainable energy. Your blood sugar doesn't drop and wake

you up in the middle of the night. Now an unpopular thing that I tell people in

your sleeping sanctuary, it's a good idea to get the electronics out of your room.

Whether it's your smartphone or your iPad or your TV because if you're

getting lots of stimulation to your body it's really hard to wind down and get

into sleep. Now I almost caused Merrill discord with this next recommendation

but sometimes people's extremities get cold and it makes it hard for them to

get to sleep and so I recommend with some people to try an experiment to

sleep with socks. Their response back when I say hey we should wear socks to

bed. I wear socks to bed my wife doesn't she thinks it's weird.

I think she's weird but we both get good sleep. One of the most important things

you can do for health and sleep is to make sure that you have good self

communication not only with yourself but your supreme being. This isn't a

religious video but I do believe that there's something bigger than us and if

you communicate with your supreme being I think it really helps with your

sleeping pattern so I'm a really big advocate of prayer. I'm a voracious

reader. I love to read and when I'm trying to not often I have sleep

problems so this is one of the reasons I was so excited about this video but if

I'm reading the wrong type of book where it's really suspense, it's a mystery, a

thriller, a spy shoot-'em-up book, sometimes it makes it hard for me to

wind down so be really careful with your what you're reading at night. One of the

hardest things for people that when they start the morning is if they have a

great big bell or alarm clock or some really really not loud obnoxious noise

it throws your body into a state of stress and panic in the beginning of the

day and I think those light alarm clocks where you get gradually more and more

and more light just like you're waking up in the morning are the healthier

alarm clocks. Be careful that the sound isn't too jarring in the morning. One of

the things that I've seen that really helps with sleep is your vitamin.

Magnesium, molybdenum, selenium, it can really help to get you

into your relaxation mode. Also I think melatonin is really good. Melatonin has

some really neat effects in the body. One of them has

to help to not often go to sleep it doesn't work on everybody but anywhere

from one to three milligrams of melatonin I think is really good before

bed. There's some research they read that shows that every hour of sleep that you

get before midnight may be up to the equivalent of two hours after midnight

and so maybe a better way to say that it's like Benjamin Franklin said early

to bed early to rise makes a man healthy wealthy and wise. If you go to bed before

midnight, I think you get a lot better sleep than you do after midnight. Now

something that's almost caused a divorce for your sleeping sanctuary is to make

sure that you don't have any electromagnetic frequency radiation

sickness going on in the background. Which means our bodies, our electrical

devices, if we have a lot of electrical noise or disturbance in the background

it can throw off our own energy or electrical patterns and so something

that worked really well for me is to go downstairs into our utility room and

flip off all the breakers of the house. Shut off all the electricity, it really

seemed to help me sleep better. Now my wife was always worried about the food

in the freezer and the refrigerator going bad but as long as those aren't

open it will maintain the temperature. It's a wonderful suggestion of really

getting restorative sleep. Now if your bedroom is too hot it makes it difficult

to sleep and wind down. I recommend your bedroom be a little bit cooler than the

rest of your house even have a window open or a fan as long as the fans not

right above you because in acupuncture we found, where I learned that there are

perverse winds they can enter in and throw off your in and your yang and your

Chi and so everything else I don't like it when it's directly on you but a fan

over on your dresser or on the floor this getting air to circulate has been

really helpful for some people to get better sleep patterns. As a natural

doctor I'm not anti medicine but I'm always cautious when it comes to

sleeping aids. Whether it is the unisom, whether it is prescriptive medications,

as much as possible you want to avoid those it's really really important to

get sleep if that's the only way you get to sleep maybe that's just how you're

hardwired. If you follow the steps for the sleeping stained sanctuary which is

making sure that it's dark, you getting some minerals possibly some

melatonin, then you get electronics out of the bedroom that you were making sure

that you're warming off possibly wearing socks to bed and depending on if that

was working for you or not. Journaling, meditating, and praying, not watching TV,

not reading books, it really really helps to get you into the right restorative

sleep mode. Another tip that I frequently advise people not to do is to avoid

alcohol and avoid stimulants before you go to bed.

What happens is that just wraps up your system too much. Sometimes some people say

if I have a little sip of wine or a little bit of red wine before I go to

bed it seems to really help calm me down. But for the most part alcohol and

stimulants like caffeine or energy drinks or diet soda really make it hard

for you to nod off. I've had this experience happened myself when I had

sleeping problems. I loved to go play basketball about nine o'clock. I'd come

home at 10:30 or 11:00 and I could not wind down because I had how all this

energy and I got my body all into the movement patterns and so I prefer to

exercise in the morning and I've routinely found that to be really a

helpful suggestion for people that are struggling if they exercise in the

morning and wind down at night it helps them get into good sleep patterns. A lot

of people's sleep gets interrupted when they have too much liquid in their

system and they're having to get up and go to the bathroom and so I recommend

really not drinking a lot of stuff after 7 p.m.

it'll help it so you don't have to get up and interrupt your sleep patterns. One

of the neat things that you can do to help with your circulation is to do

something that's hot but you're not doing a lot of exercise. So a really warm

baths with epsom salts or an infrared or even a wet sauna to get the blood

circulation to the extremities really helps people to sleep. Now when we talk

about a sleeping sanctuary, you want to make sure that that's where you go to

sleep and not to work. And so if you are in the habit of looking at your iPad or

your smart phone or your laptop in bed I'd advise you to do something to

interrupt that habit and the reserve work for work places and sleep for sleep

places. Hopefully you got some good ideas from the tips for a sleeping sanctuary.

Again if you can't sleep, you can't heal. I think it's one of the most important

cornerstones. It's a risk factor reduction for so many chronic disease

and when people are struggling with their energies throughout the day and

they need a diet coke or they need a powder donut or an energy drink in the

afternoon, if you'll engineer your life to have a good sleeping sanctuary you

can usually get rid of those crutches throughout the day. This is Dr. West see you

in the next video.

Thanks for watching our video on headaches. In the

description there's actually a bonus link on how to go to a good hormone

specialist and how to balance your hormone so that you get better sleep

outcomes so that you can heal and achieve and maintain optimal health.

19 Things You Didn't Know About Michael Jackson! - Duration: 9:40.

19 Things You Didn't Know About Michael Jackson!

19.

'Cause This Is Starlight The early working title for what would arguably

become Michael Jackson's most well-known album was a lot less enticing than the title

we know and love today.

When the album was still in production, Michael was apparently tooling around with the idea

of calling it "Starlight".

Quincy Jones, who was the album's producer, told Jackson that he should try to come up

with a better title.

After spending a night going over hundreds of possibilities, Jackson awoke with only

one word on his mind - one he could see at the top of the charts - and that word was

Thriller.

18.

Sonic The Hedgehog 3 Although there has long been a rumor that

Michael Jackson contributed music to the soundtrack for the popular 1994 Sega video game Sonic

The Hedgehog 3, it has mostly been dismissed as a conspiracy theory.

However, recent news which has come to light seems to indicate that there is some truth

to the rumor.

Sources close to the production of the game as well as the production of the music have

confirmed that Jackson was involved in the process at least on some level.

Apparently Jackson wanted his name removed from the credits due to being unhappy with

the final sound of the music, and Sega still denies that he was involved in the first place.

17.

Most Successful Entertainer Ever Many people, fans and fanatics alike, are

happy to credit Michael Jackson as the greatest and most successful musician of all time.

However, many may not know that this is actually objectively true, as long as you are a follower

of Guinness Book of World Records.

In 2009, Jackson was awarded the world record for "Most Successful Entertainer of All

time" by the prestigious ranking organization.

The record cites Jackson's prestigious award catalogue, including 13 number one singles,

13 Grammys, and more than 750 million records sold worldwide.

16.

Godfather Macaulay Culkin Those born in the most recent generation might

only be fleetingly familiar with the classic Home Alone movies, but they likely know nothing

of the closeness which once existed between its star, Macaulay Culkin, and Michael Jackson.

It's true though - the two were virtually inseparable at one point.

In fact they were so close that Jackson made Culkin the godfather of his daughter, Paris

Jackson.

Today, Paris and Macaulay remain close.

15.

Scorsese Many of Michael Jackson's music videos have

been heralded as works of art, but only one can actually claim to have been made by a

true film artist.

The music video for "Bad" holds this spot, since it was directed by the legendary Martin

Scorsese.

The full video is 18 minutes long and is more of a short film - in fact it was written by

Richard Price, a noted novelist and screenwriter.

Filming took 6 weeks, and the video makes use of an extended version of the song which

was recorded specifically for its production.

14.

Not So Thrilling Religion The subject of religion isn't one you typically

bring up when you're talking about the King of Pop, but he certainly held strong religious

convictions, at least during the period in which the video for Thriller was produced.

You may recall that the video opens with a short message from Jackson, stating "Due

to my strong personal convictions, I wish to stress that this film in no way endorses

a belief in the occult."

This card was placed ahead of the video to appease tensions with Michael's belief system.

As a Jehovah's Witness, he was strictly forbidden from dabbling in the occult.

The disclaimer was necessary in order to allow Jackson to make the video.

13.

Most Expensive Video Ever Speaking of Michael Jackson's music videos,

the video for "Scream" still holds the spot for the single most expensive music video

production, ever.

The video apparently cost over $7 million to make.

Although this claim has been refuted by the video's director, "Scream" is still

credited in many places as the most expensive music video ever, and was subsequently ranked

in the top 100 best music videos of all time by VH1 in 2001.

12.

Oxygen Chamber We're always finding out about the somewhat

strange things celebrities do or have done in order to maintain peak physical (and mental)

health.

Michael Jackson was known to be eccentric, and his sleeping habits were no exception

to that rule.

In the '80s, Jackson was known to sleep in a hyperbaric oxygen chamber for health.

He even went so far as to purchase the equipment for a more permanent sleeping arrangement,

but apparently chose to donate the equipment to a California medical center rather than

have it installed in his home.

11.

Highest Earning Dead Artist In 2016, Forbes put together a list of the

top grossing artists who had passed away.

In a somewhat unsurprising turn, the King of Pop topped this list, with an annual income

of more than $91 million on average, at the time of the list's creation.

It's worth noting that his total earned since his death, $825 million, was greater

than the other 9 list entries combined, by a factor of more than 4 times.

10.

8 Grammys in 1984 Most people know that Thriller was a big deal

when it was released.

However, unless you were alive at the time, you might not really be able to grasp just

how big of a deal it really was.

Thriller was released just before the end of 1982, and it went on to pretty much dominate

the airwaves for all of 1983.

That was why in 1984, Michael Jackson won 8 Grammys in a single night.

That feat - unprecedented at the time - has never been topped, and it seems pretty unlikely

that it ever will be.

9.

"Billie Jean" - True Story Though many have called it a tale as old as

time, Michael Jackson claimed that his breakout song "Billie Jean" was in fact somewhat

based on a true story.

There was never an actual Billie Jean, but the person in the song represented the anonymous

face of all of the groupies who would hang around Jackson at the time, many of whom would

claim that he'd gotten them pregnant.

These claims were both an attempt to hone in on his star, as well as just to claim that

they were permanently linked to such a celebrity.

8.

"Beat It" & Van Halen It may seem strange to imagine a collaboration

between the King of Pop and arguably the King of Rock, but such a thing did in fact happen.

The third single on Thriller, "Beat It", was heavily shaped by the involvement of legendary

Van Halen guitarist, Eddie Van Halen.

Eddie not only had a solo in the song, but also suggested changes throughout the song

which Jackson felt greatly improved the quality of the song as a whole.

This isn't well known because Eddie didn't request a credit on the album at all, and

in fact didn't even want to be paid for his contribution.

7.

Most Viewed Live TV Event The death of Michael Jackson was a truly shocking

event to the world.

It was so shocking, in fact, that it put huge strain on the infrastructure of the internet

and even shut some websites down to the point that they thought they were being attacked.

However, the real impression the service made might be its live viewership on television.

Some sources claim that there were over 2.5 billion live viewers worldwide, which would

make it the most viewed live event in history.

Though these figures are disputed, its confirmed live viewership in the USA of 31.1 million

is still impressive when you compare it to numbers for events like the 2008 Summer Olympics

(34.2 million) or the inauguration of Barack Obama (38 million).

6.

Neverland Cost Michael Jackson's famous retreat, which

he purchased at just 29 years old for a cost estimated to be upwards of $30 million, was

called Neverland Ranch.

The name was of course an homage to the ageless home of Peter Pan, and featured extensive

amenities including an amusement park, a zoo, an arcade, and full horse stables.

All of these things cost a lot to keep up and running, and at the height of his usage

of the retreat, sources claim that the ranch's annual upkeep exceeded $5 million.

5.

Jackson & Mercury Duet In 1983, when Michael Jackson was riding the

success of Thriller and Queen was in full swing, Jackson and Freddie Mercury were set

to take the world by storm by doing a duet album together.

Considering the size of the star associated with both of the artists as individuals, both

at the time and since, this would have been a pretty incredible team-up.

However, relations between the two fell apart in the studio pretty quickly, and a catalyst

was apparently the fact that Michael insisted on bringing an actual Llama into the studio.

They did record 3 songs together, however, and those have since been released.

4.

Almost Bought Marvel During the '90s, the comic book industry's

bubble popped and all production companies felt a decline.

This was especially true of Marvel Comics, which almost went out of business.

At the time, Marvel Intellectual Property owners were shopping around for prospective

buyers in an attempt to recoup some of their losses.

Michael Jackson was actually a huge comic book fan, and at this time he considered partnering

with Stan Lee Media to purchase Marvel.

The deal eventually fell through as a result of unknown circumstances, but it's certainly

an interesting thought experiment.

3.

"Private Drinker" Many details of Michael Jackson's private

life came to light during his criminal trial for child abuse, including some...interesting

habits the star held in his personal life.

One of these, apparently, was that he would go to such extreme lengths to keep his alcohol

consumption private from both the media and his children that he would request that any

alcohol he was served on planes be served in a Diet Coke can.

2.

Escape Plan Michael Jackson's brother Jermaine recently

released a book chronicling his time both as a member of the Jackson 5 and as a member

of the Jackson family throughout his brother's rise to mega-stardom.

Part of the book outlines a situation the family prepared for but was never forced to

act upon - Michael's conviction during his child abuse case.

Apparently the family had an extensive plan of action in the event Michael was convicted,

including getting Michael on a private jet immediately and flying him out of the country.

He would be taken to Bahrain, where he would be able to escape justice for a crime they

were sure he didn't commit.

1.

Weird 9/11 Connection Another interesting fact Jermaine Jackson

outlines in his book is a strange coincidence which could have cut the King of Pop's life

short long before it actually ended.

Michael was apparently scheduled to have a meeting at the World Trade Center on September

11th, 2001 - the fateful day when the largest terrorist attack in American History was committed

- but missed the meeting because he overslept.

CNN's Dana Bash Comes Clean With Troubling Revelation About Barack, Michelle, And Harvey Weinstein - Duration: 19:10.

CNN's Dana Bash Comes Clean With Troubling Revelation About Barack, Michelle, And Harvey

Weinstein

he liberal media and leftist politicians haven't been very forceful about condemning left-wing

sexual predator Harvey Weinstein.

If you believe liberals you would think the only bad behavior that ever occurred was from

Fox News hosts.

However, as Breitbart reports, CNN reporter Dana Bash broke the mold today when she made

a powerful point about Harvey Weinstein and the Obama family.

"You broke the news about Hillary Clinton finally putting out a statement condemning

his behavior and distancing herself.

The question is whether or not she is going to help gather the $1.4 million that he, as

what's known has bundler, helped her campaign over the years," Bash said.

She has a really good point, since Clinton took five days to even respond and only did

so with a garbage apology through her publicist.

What's she going to do with the millions Harvey gave her?

Since the scandal was revealed last Thursday, Clinton has found time to discuss birth control

funding and she re-released children's book It Takes a Village and the problems she says

women face in politics.

She has also continued her lucrative speaking tour with engagements at Stanford University

and University of California, Davis.

Clinton went on and told the UC Davis audience on Monday about the struggles of being a woman

and running for president.

Guess what though, she's not giving back the money.

"You have to have a high pain threshold because the double standard is alive and well,"

said Clinton.

"This is endemic to our political system, to business, to the media, to every part of

society.

So don't be afraid to talk about it and take it on."

Bash wasn't done yet either.

She took on the Obama family, who are very close with Harvey Weinstein but haven't

spoken up about his disgusting behavior allegedly victimizing numerous women.

"Where are the Obamas?

Where is Michelle Obama?

Where is President Obama?"

Bash asked, adding "[Weinstein] is and probably still is a big supporter of him and his political

efforts.

And just let's just pretend the shoe was on the other foot and this was a Republican,

somebody who is in Hollywood who is a Republican alleged to have done these things and gave

to Republican presidents.

Can you imagine the outrage if they weren't condemning this behavior?

I mean, it makes no sense at all that they are not coming out and saying something.

Never mind the question of the donations."

She is so right.

If a top Republican had been accused of the kind of serious allegations against Weinstein

there would be literally weeks and months of crying and anger all over television and

Obama and Clinton would be virtue signalling every waking second of the day.

Bash just called out their bulls*** in an epic way.

Even liberal CNN couldn't keep the lid on this one it looks like, the tension just boiled

over even among their leftist hosts and then:

Boom!

Dana Bash kicked the media's ass on this issue to be honest as well as the Obamas and

fake feminist Hillary Clinton.

She exposed their utter hypocrisy and lack of concern in actually standing up for women

and defending

their rights.

this was all a clever disguise for young Jimmy, when his parents wernt looking he was a notorious

prankster who would terrorize his neighbourhood and teaching staff.

Jimmy Kimmel fell in love with David Letterman and worked long and hard to climb to the top

of Hollywood.

His pranks would result in him getting fired time after time and he watched his closest

friends find fame and fortune untill he would catch his big break with Jimmy Kimmel Live!

What's going on guys?

My name is Michael McCrudden documenting the life and career of Jimmy Kimmel prior to fame,

here for you on Before They Were Famous.

Jimmel is my fav of the late night hosts, but in the past we have done videos on James

Corden & I covered Jimmy Fallon way back in the day – that could use an update.

As always, be sure to let me know who is next in the comments down below.

Also, let me know who your favorite Late Night host is.

Aright, now let's roll that intro.

_____________

Jimmy Kimmel was born James Christian Kimmel on November 13, 1967 in Brooklyn, New York

City, New York and Jimmy grew up the eldest of three in the working class neighborhood

of Jamaica Bay.

His father James John Kimmel worked as an IBM executive and is of Irish, German, and

Welsh ancestry, his mother Joan, a homemaker is of Italian descent.

Jimmy likes to keep his family close and has had involved them in his work throughout his

career.

In fact the first guest he's ever had on the air was his uncle frank.

He also features his Aunt Chippy and his Cousin Sal as regulars on his show.

Although I'm pretty certain that Sal isn't his actual cousin.

His family moved to Las Vegas when he was 9 years old where Jimmy would spend his formative

years running around the neighborhood of Meadowlark Lane, playing sports, building clubhouses,

and getting into fights.

He built up a tight group of frinds Escobedo and Jim Gentleman.

The boys kept up a clean image taking band class together at Kenny Guin Junior High and

all went to church at Christ the King Catholic Community, where they sang in the choir and

where Kimmel was an altar boy for seven years.

Outside of school and in the afternoons him and his pals

were hell raisers.

One woman in particular by the name of Karen Schilling.

They would prank order food and cabs to her door, tie empty cans to the back of her car

and Jimmy mastered the art of placing a small charge in each of her cigarettes causing them

to explode.

Outside of pranks, Jimmy had found an early obsession watching Late Night with David Letterman.

Jimmy didn't have a VCR growing up and wasn't allowed to stay up late enough to watch his

favourite show so he would have his friends record it and then he would make his rounds

around the neighbourhood to watch.

Jimmy attended Ed W Clarke High school where he was an A student although he didn't put

in a ton of effort.

His high school actually built a shrine to honour the 1985 alumni.

He was far from a ladies man but thrived as a class clown with his favorite class was

visual art, he's actually a fantasic illustrator.

Jimmy never took acting or comedy classes.

It was when he was 16 he was working at a clothing store when a co-worker, who worked

on a college radio station, invited him to come check out his act.

Jimmy new that David Letterman had started out on radio so he though, yea, what the hell.

He started doing a local interviews and the joy he got out of having his friends and family

tune in ignited his never ending passion for show business.

He was so determined that even bought a custom licesnse plate for his first car an Isuzu

I-Mark which read L8 NITE.

He enrolled at the University of Las Vegas but then moved to the University of Arizona

where he got a job on a professional radio show.

It was here he also met his first wife Gina Maddy who he married at the age of 20 and

soon after had their first of two children.

It was time for Jimmy to get to work so he dropped out of school and started working

full time on the radio.

The next few years were a tough break for Jimmy and his young family.

He was laid off from his first radio gig and then they moved to Seattle and Tampa where

he was fired from both gigs.

It was the prankster inside Jimmy that led to his demise, he would tormet his bosses

calling their wives, posting naked photos of them, sneaking into their offices through

the roof that always got him canned.

He finally got a steady gig in Palm Springs California where he hired Carson Daly as his

intern.

Soon after, Jimmy got working at KROQ in Los Angeles, he started off as a producer worked

his way on air and made life long friends with Adam Corolla who he booked as a guest

on the show.

In a strange turn of events, both Adam and Carson found fame and fortune before Jimmy

Kimmel.

It wasn't until 1997 that he finally got a gig on TV as a co-host on Win Ben Stein's

money.

The gig paid a measley $550 an episode so Jimmy had to keep his day job on the radio

waking up at 5am and working well into the night.

Now rubbing shoulders with those in television, Jimmy got to work pitching an original concept

titled The Man Show.

Kimmel asked Carolla to be his co-host on the show, which premiered on Comedy Central

in June 1999 which involved them drinking beer, watching women jump on trampolines and

stuff like this...

Actually looks like my kinda show.

The show was a huge success with males between the ages of 18 to 34 and stayed on air for

6 seasons.

When the show was cancelled Jimmy also went through a divorce.

Things were looking bleek but ABC had wanted to get into the Late Night game and decided

to take a chance on Jimmy Kimmel allowing to fulfill his destiny.

For the first few weeks of the show, Jimmy had trouble booking guests, especially women.

The ratings were mediocre and reviews were worse.

With one critic from The New Yorker describing the show as "dead on arrival".

Jimmy percevered and entered into a 7 year relationship with Sarah Silverman.

As he shed his Man Show schtick and began appealing to a wider audience Jimmy began

to creep up in the ratings.

Still today he's labelled as a dark horse in the late night community, he's actually

one of the veterans in the game these days.

I could go into more detail about his career while the host of Jimmy Kimmel Live!

But I'm gonna wrap this one up – because this is Before They Were Famous.

My name is Michael McCrudden and we make all sorts of celebrity bio's here for you on this

channel.

Be sure to check out these other two beauties and let me know who you want me to document

Top 10 Superheroes Not From Comic Books - Duration: 5:28.

Top 10 SUPERHEROES NOT FROM COMIC BOOKS

Welcome back nerd squad, my name is Roya Destroyaa and this is Top 10 Nerd.

On this channel you are used to us talking about superheroes mostly from their comic

source material.

Sometimes we stray off into movies, but rarely do we ever talk material that isn't based

in comics.

Today for a change we are going to pay some respect to creations that were not born from

the pages, even if they appear in them today.

So let's take a look at the top 10 SUPERHEROES WHO ARE NOT FROM COMIC BOOKS.

In the number 10 spot we have THE POWERPUFF GIRLS.

Blossom, bubbles, and Buttercu made their official debut in 1998.

They were created when their professor father accidently added something called chemical

X to his mixture for the perfect daughter.

No he did not enroll them I nthe weapon X program afterwards.

Fun fact, the chemical was originally supposed to be called can of whoopass, and the show

was going to be called Whoopass Stew.

But the names were changed to keep it more child friendly.

Coming in at number 9 is WILL STRONGHOLD.

One of my absolute favorite movies as a kid was Sky High, the 2005 film about a school

in the sky where teens learn how to be superheroes and sidekicks.

The movie stars Will Stronghold, a kid of 2 of the world's most famous superheroes

who is just starting to discover his powers of super strength and flight.

Because they remain latent at first he is relegated to being a sidekick, but he learns

what we already know: the sidekicks oftentimes steal the show.

Next, at number 8 we got DARKMAN.

The 1990 film Darkman, directed by Spiderman's Sam Raimi, introduced us to Peyton Westlake.

Peyton, played by Liam Neeson, is a classic comicbook-like scientist working to make artificial

skin that can be grafted onto burn victims.

A gang attacks his lab and causes an explosion, leaving Peyton for dead.

The scientist is then subject to a treatment that cuts his nerves so he no longer feels

pain, and gains superhuman strength.

No better time for revenge.

In the number 7 spot is FIRESTAR.

Although she has appeared in the comics many times, Firestar actually got her start on

spiderman and his amazing Friends in 1981.

The creators had wanted to use the human torch, but since his rights were not available, they

created the mutant and former X-Men member to throw in the show instead.

After mulling over the names Starblaze, Heatwave, and Firefly, they settled on Firestar, with

the human alter ego of Angelica Jones.

Coming in at number 6 we have FREAKAZOID.

16 year old Dexter Dougas became the superhero in the 1995 show known as Freakazoid after

his cat accidently programmed a certain computer sequence that activated a mega bug.

He was absorbed into the computer and gained all sorts of super powers like strength and

speed, while losing most of his sanity.

The show was supposed to be an action show until producer Steven Spileberg said, "let's

make it a comedy".

And they clearly made the right choice.

Next up, at number 5 is MERMAID MAN AND BARNACLE BOY.

This superhero duo exists in the world of Spongebob Squarepants.

They first appeared in 1999 and are the semi-retired heroes of Bikini bottom, with Mermaid Man

being the quite senile and creaky hero while Barncale boy plays the role of the grouchy

and underappreciated sidekick.

The contrast in personality is what has made them so popular among fans of the Spongebob

franchise.

Up next at number 4 is CAPTAIN PLANET.

Captain Planet and the Planeteers was a tv show that aired in 1993, starring an eco superhero

known as Captain planet.

He was summoned when the elements wind, water, fire, earth, and the extra special element

heart all combined and magnified.

He fights the forces of pollution and forgetting to recycle, all the while cracking puns and

displaying a pretty vast knowledge of engineering.

In the number 3 spot, we have THE TOXIC AVENGER.

The 1984 film The Toxic Avenger was spoofy, it was extremely violent, and it gave Troma

entertainment anew poster boy for a while.

Melvin Ferd is your average weakling human who has an encounter ith toxic waste that

leaves him super strong and super large.

No longer the easy target for harassment, he goes on to teach the bullies of Tromaville

some pretty gruesome lessons.

Though the film was no exactly what we would consider a hit, it gained a fast cult following

and is the perfect movie for a Friday night in when you need some campy fun.

Coming in at number 2 is X 23.

Laure Kinney, as known as the daughter clone of Wolverine, first made her debut in the

world of superheroes in season 3, episode 11 X Men Evolution in 2003.

She was created by Craig kyle in an attempt to connect wolverine to younger kids more.

She was also likened as the pinnochio of Marvel; a samurai sword trying to become a real little

girl.

It's a little hard when you're an assassin born and raised.

And finally, in the number 1 spot, we've got THE INCREDIBLES.

The famous superhero family made their debut in 2004 with their own movie, and have a sequel

in the works for June 2018.

About damn time.

The movie follows the family, Helen and Bob Parr and their kids Violet, Dash, and Jack

Jack, as they attempt to lead a quiet suburban life after public opinion has turned unfavorable

for superpowered individuals.

The family is a favorite because of how relatable they are, how you can really feel the love

and connection between characters, and how even the smallest of members can kick ass

when called upon.

So those were the top 10 SUPERHEORES NOT FROM COMIC BOOKS Let me know in the comment section

down below which of these heroes is your top pick.

My name is Roya Destroyaa, thanks for watching, and don't forget to subscribe so you never

miss another nerdy list!

Guard Your Walk - Duration: 6:28.

Jesus Christ will never leave us and He will never forsake us. He will always be

there with us, but we have to stay with Him until the very end. We have to guard

our walk with Him. If we stray from Jesus, if we leave Him, He will not hold us back.

He will call us back. If we stray He might discipline us, put circumstances in

our way to turn us from our wicked ways, to turn us back to Him. Many believers do

not recognize the hand of God when He disciplines them. They become hardened of

heart through the deceitfulness of their sin, because they went their own way. The

Holy Spirit will call us back, convict us to change our ways,

but He will never force us. Our relationship with Jesus, our walk with

Him, is our responsibility. The quality of our walk with Him

depends entirely on us, because Jesus is faithful, but if we are unfaithful we

will lose Him, we will lose eternal life. We have to guard our walk with Him and

make sure that we are doing what is pleasing to Him. We must make sure that

we obey His commands, that which He taught, that which He commanded as also

recorded in the Gospels Matthew, Mark, Luke and John.

We must seek Him. We must seek His voice, His Spirit, His guidance. If we seek Him,

we find Him; if we draw closer to Him, He draws closer to us. If we ask Him

He will speak to us. He will guide us, He will teach us, but if we turn away from

Him, if we stray from Him, we will perish, if we do not repent. We have to guard our

walk with Jesus. We have to make ourselves available to Him. We have to

seek His guidance, we have to seek to be pleasing to Him,

because if we don't we are not worthy of Him. If we do not guard our walk we will go

stray and we will end up in hell. Our relationship and our walk with Jesus

depends entirely on us. If we are not willing He will not force us. If we

don't want to follow Him He will not force us. He loves us, He cares for us, but

He will never force us. If we don't love Him and if we don't care for Him and we

don't care for our relationship with Him, our walk with Him, then we will not enter

His kingdom. We need to seek to hear His voice. We need to seek to be guided

by him. We need to seek His kingdom and His righteousness. We need to seek Jesus

Himself. If we don't, in the end we will only have ourselves to blame when He

turns us away, and He says to us:"Go away, I never knew you, you workers of

wickedness."

We need to cleanse our lives, repent, be baptized in water, seek the baptism in

the Holy Spirit, seek to hear His voice every day. If we don't, we will stray from

Him. It depends entirely on us where we will end up.

Jesus is willing and He is eager to save us, but if we don't want to be saved, if

we don't want to walk with Him and follow Him, in the end He will deliver us

to our desires. If we love other things more than Him, then we will end up where

those other things take us. How is our walk with Jesus? Are we close to Him? Do

we seek to obey Him? Do we seek to hear His voice? Are we serious about the

kingdom of God? Are we seeking revelation from Him, or don't we care? Is it not a

priority in our lives. If it's not a priority then, we're not worthy of Jesus.

If we are lukewarm, He will spew us out" We have to serve Jesus and follow Him, go

after Him with all our heart, with everything that is in us. Not many are

being saved. Jesus said:"Strive hard, because Strait is

the gate and narrow is the door and few there be that find it ." Very few want to

walk with Jesus. Very few guard their walk with Jesus. Are we serious with

Jesus? Do we really love Him and do we really want to enter His kingdom?

Strange Things That Actually Happened On The Set Of The Matrix - Duration: 5:17.

A Hollywood blockbuster represents thousands of hours of work — which means that no matter

how great the finished product, some pretty interesting stuff happens behind the scenes

of most films that we, the public, never get to hear about… except on super-cool YouTube

videos like this one.

Here's a look at the filming of The Matrix franchise and some of the crazy things that

happened when the cameras weren't rolling.

Required reading

Matrix star Keanu Reeves had to read a thousand pages worth of philosophy and evolutionary

psychology before he was even allowed to see the complete script for the film, but everyone

in the cast had a homework assignment: to read a dense book of French post-modern philosophy

called Simulacra and Simulation by Jean Baudrillard.

That's because the film's creators, the Wachowskis, wanted to be sure that everyone in the movie

really understood the concept behind The Matrix and could explain it when asked — unlike

Morpheus, who clearly didn't do the reading.

"Unfortunately no one can be told what the Matrix is…

You have to see it for yourself."

The scene Warner Brothers didn't want you to see

The Matrix special effects team studied everything from the physics of fluid dynamics to the

exploding patterns of different types of glass in order to create this awe-inspiring helicopter

crash:

[Explosion sounds]

But the whole thing almost didn't happen.

Just researching the scene took so much time, money, and work that Warner Brothers tried

to have it cut from the movie entirely.

Fortunately, the Wachowskis' passion won out, and the helicopter crash stayed in, using

just about every kind of special effect available at the time.

The Matrix was a comic before it was a movie

Before they blew your mind with this breakout sci-fi hit, directing duo the Wachowskis had

only one other successful film to their name, the lesbian crime drama Bound.

So to convince Warner Brothers to fund The Matrix, they got comic artists Geof Darrow

and Steve Skroce to turn the script into a shot-for-shot storyboard of the entire film.

The 600-page storyboard was impressive enough to get the studio to take the red pill, giving

the Wachowskis a $60 million budget to make their vision a reality.

Warner Brothers' only stipulation?

That they got to pick the film's star, though their choice of Keanu Reeves wasn't initially

a big hit with the Wachowskis.

Turns out they just didn't know Reeves had a skill set that went way beyond what they'd

seen in Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure.

"I know kung fu."

All the white shirts were actually green

If you noticed that every scene set inside the Matrix simulation is kind of green and

queasy-looking, you're not imagining things; it was a visual trick used by the filmmakers

to give the world a sterile, artificial feel.

Which, sure, they could've accomplished with a filter in post-production — but costume

designer Kim Barrett went the extra mile and put every light-colored piece of clothing

worn by the cast through a green wash that also goes extra nicely with the color scheme

in the Oracle's kitchen.

The Matrix took its casting director to some interesting places

For Neo, this training simulator was designed to teach him to keep an eye out for the movie's

evil agents.

But if you take Morpheus' advice —

"Look again!"

— You'll notice something weird: some of the people in this crowd look exactly alike.

For the filmmakers, it was a subtle hint that whoever made this simulation took shortcuts,

copying and pasting the same code multiple different times.

But for casting director Tim Little, it was a challenge — because he was the one who

had to scour the entire country of Australia for dozens of pale-skinned twins and triplets

to use in the scene. That wasn't the best part of the job, however — Little actually had

the most fun visiting local fetish clubs to find extras who would be comfortable in some

of the film's more extreme costume options.

The Matrix recycles

Back in the day, the sets constructed for The Matrix: Reloaded and The Matrix: Revolutions

were amongst the most ambitious ever built — like the one and-a-half-mile stretch of

fake highway that was built from scratch for this chase scene.

But it didn't go to waste!

97.5 percent of the materials used in the final two Matrix movies were either recycled

or re-purposed to build low-income housing in Mexico, which means that someone is probably

sitting in a living room right now where the very walls are imbued with molecules of Keanu

Reeve's kung fu sweat.

"Whoa."

Hugo Weaving's epiphany

One of the best parts of The Matrix: Reloaded is the Burly Brawl, where Neo battles an army

of clones of the evil Agent Smith.

This scene was partially accomplished through CGI, but it was mostly done by making up a

herd of stuntmen to look just like actor Hugo Weaving — and unfortunately, this awesome

movie moment shattered any illusions Weaving had about his receding hairline.

Talk about a bad way to find out that you're going bald.

"Here I'm looking at everyone from this side and I go 'AHHH, look how far it's gone!'"

Keanu Reeves gave away a lot of Matrix money

Despite what you may have heard, Keanu Reeves didn't donate his entire salary to the movie's

special effects crew — but he did sign away his residual payments, forever, in order to

funnel money back into the trilogy's production.

Nobody knows exactly how much money Reeves passed up in order to give the crew another

two movies worth of job security, but it would've been in the millions.

We'll give you a second to let that sink in.

"He is the one."
