Your Face Could Be Recreated From DNA: Should You Worry? - Duration: 3:02.
Could we take a sample of your DNA and predict what your face looks like?
Maaaayyyyybe?
Maybe.
… Okay yes, but also not really.
Craig Venter, a pioneer in human genetic research and sequencing recently co-authored a paper
saying if someone got your DNA, they could use it to reveal your face.
In the paper, they sequenced the genomes of over a thousand people, and captured a bunch
of metadata.
They fed this into an algorithm.
The program compared all the metadata to the DNA, looking for small differences, and matching
features.
This paper argues we should be concerned about storing DNA on publically accessible databases
for the sake of privacy.
They say, if compromised, someone could pick out your face armed only with your DNA.
Obviously, if true, this is pretty freaky.
Especially when combined with another creepy project from 2013.
A New York artist took cigarette butts, hair, and other discarded items, pulled DNA off
of them, sequenced that DNA, and performed facial reconstruction.
The idea being, this face could be the person who dropped the DNA.
The artist told CNN, she could reveal possible "ancestors…, gender, eye color, hair color,
complexion, freckles, their tendency to be overweight and a handful of dimensions of
the face."
Put together, I'd understand if you're skeeved.
This is a march toward GATTACA…Buuuut there are still limitations.
The artist says, these are "general likenesses," not portraits.
And, Venter's algorithm matched a diverse group to their DNA 80-percent of the time,
but only half the time when they were all one ethnicity.
Critics of Venter's paper say the numbers aren't good enough to justify any concern,
and one of the paper's co-authors even said it misrepresented their data.
In the end, we only sequenced the human genome in 2003, so there's a lot to learn.
Projects like these remind us of the sheer amount of data we're throwing away, every
day, about ourselves, in stray hairs, skin cells caught in lip prints, and so many other
places.
So, can we reconstruct your face?
No.
But soon we may be able to match it with an algorithm, based on a hair you left in a subway
station.
Till then, more research and probably laws are needed.

WHAT TO DO IF YOU'RE IN FORECLOSURE - Duration: 8:58.
welcome to another financially fabulous episode I'm Limor and I'm going to
show you how to crush it with your finances in today's episode I'm be
talking about what to do if you're in foreclosure come on this will be
interesting
if you are at the start or at any point throughout the process of foreclosure
this is not a joke this is something to take very very seriously now I know if
you're getting these kinds of notices if you're super behind on all of your bills
behind in your credit card behind on your cell phone and you're in
foreclosure you're likely in a place where things are actually pretty
challenging and I feel for you because it's really tough and a lot of the times
things are not your fault I mean you can't be the victim and you do have to
take financial responsibility for what's happening around you but being in a
situation where you are being foreclosed on can be very very challenging and
overwhelming it a little bit scary not being sure what to do or what in fact is
going on so let me explain that in Canada we actually have two different
foreclosure systems depending on what province you're in and where your
property is located if you are in Ontario the system is called power of
sale and if you are in most other provinces in Canada the system is
actually called the judicial system now the big difference is that in Ontario
and provinces that have a power of sale process what happens during foreclosure
and the exact proceedings the amount of time the elements within the foreclosure
process are actually outlined in your mortgage when you sign up for it so you
probably didn't read the fine print I know most of us don't read the fine
print when we're signing mortgages but if you are in Ontario what's going to
happen throughout the foreclosure process is actually already outlined at
the start of the process when you signed your mortgage if you're in a province
where there is the judicial system well then there is an actual person a judge
who decides exactly what the proceedings are going to look like how long it's
going to take so as a result of that when you're in foreclosure in the
judicial system the process is quite a bit longer usually sort of in the range
of 12 to 18 months from start to finish and with the power of sale provinces
it's usually a lot quicker so within like three months you can be out of your
house and things can unfold very quickly so no matter what province you're in if
you have started receiving notifications from your bank from your mortgage lender
saying you know you're in serious trouble you'll know this if you're
behind on your payments all of a sudden the payment
we'll be much much higher because you'll have back payments you'll have daily
interest that's being accumulated there will be legal payments what's lawyer
gets involved so the interest rates and all of the fees associated with it start
to accumulate really really quickly when you're behind on your mortgage and
foreclosure is on the way so if this is happening to you make sure you're
opening all of your bills I know it can feel like the easiest thing is just to
ignore it it's easy to be in denial and say oh no this isn't happening to me
everything's gonna be okay because there's also a challenge that's caused
you to be in this situation so whether you've lost a job or there's a health
challenge or some other thing that's happened in your life some debt that's
really snowballs and you don't really know how to get out of it really it can
be a tough situation but you want to make sure that you're facing it head-on
I know that can be really really uncomfortable but if you're ignoring it
it's really only gonna get worse and you know while the foreclosure process ends
up in the bank taking back your property there's actually a few other things that
happen along with it that you may not realize that in my opinion can actually
be even more dire than your property being taken away so first and foremost
if you've got equity accumulated in the property because of all of these fees
all the legal fees interest payments daily interest back payments all kinds
of penalties that you'll be running into if you've got some equity there's often
a really good chance that the equity gets swallowed up really quickly because
of all of these fees because they do need to be covered off and so when the
bank takes your property of course all these fees need to be paid back now of
course it depends on how much equity you have but in many instances it can
actually eat up a lot of any of the equity that may be left over and there's
a good chance you'll walk away with nothing even if the property has
appreciated or you've been paying down your mortgage in a very meticulous way
for many months or many years and that's a little bit of a sad process the second
thing that happens is that your credit will be severely severely damaged so in
many instances if you had a mortgage and you qualify for it upfront and you owned
a property and your property is foreclosed on there's a very
good chance you'll never qualify for a mortgage again so if you're going
through some temporary hardships maybe you've lost your job or there's a health
or there's an illness that's happening in your life at the moment making sure
that you do not go through the foreclosure procedure will ensure that
when things start to recover again maybe if you get another job if you start
feeling healthy and things start going your way you actually can potentially
purchase another property in the future but if you've gone through the
foreclosure proceedings it's really really tough to qualify for a mortgage
ever again in your lifetime the next thing that you may not be aware of that
happens when you go through foreclosure proceedings is that if you still have
your job or let's say you and your partner live in a home together and one
of you has lost a job and the other ones using their income just for things like
food or maybe your cell phone bill some of the more necessities of life although
I don't know if a cell phone is really necessity but many of us would treat it
that way if one person is still employed if you're still employed what the
financial institution can actually do is start to garnish your wages so what that
really means is the same way when you get your paycheck from your employer
every Friday twice a month or the first of the month whatever it is you
know how the taxes have already been removed when you get your paycheck well
the same thing will happen so every single time you get paid the financial
institution will actually take some of your wages and what's really really
tough is that what I've seen is that they will take just enough so that your
income isn't low enough so you can file for bankruptcy so really really really
puts you between a rock and a hard place and this garnishing of wages will
continue to happen until all of your debts are repaid which can sometimes
take a very very very long time and can make it much more difficult for you to
recover financially so if you are in foreclosure proceedings if you started
getting notices please please please take it seriously and address the
financial institution you know you want to reach out to them and see what is
going on what are options can you take a vacation payment from your mortgage for
one month to be able to recover a little bit faster some mortgages will allow you
to do that and they'll add the payment to the end of the term of your mortgage
you can sometimes delay the foreclosure if you're being
responsible and reaching out but if you are just ignoring it you're gonna be in
a really really tough situation and things can unravel very very quickly
which brings me to my tweetable today don't ignore the first signs of
foreclosure the first signs is really really just the beginning and while you
may not want to face the music it's much better that you call the financial
institution maybe you call a foreclosure lawyer if you're stuck you can even send
me an email I'll link up my email below because
foreclosure is something that you do in fact have options obviously not a ton of
options the reality is that you owe money but you know if you're on top of
it and you recognize what's happening you have an opportunity maybe even to
sell your property to higher than fair market value or sell it just to make
sure that you can pay off all of your debts and you don't have some of the
other dire consequences so I challenge to you first and foremost is if
you've noticed that you're starting to get these letters in the mail these
notices in the mail I know it's really tough I know you don't want to face the
music but start by opening them up you know and giving a phone call to a lawyer
like I said if you need me just send me an email and you know make sure that you
understand what your options are so you don't end up in a situation where you
know it's the middle of winter you're kicked out of the street the bank's
taking your money your credit is ruined this is a really really dark place to be
and I want to make sure that you are being financially fabulous and that you
know what your options are when you get to that situation did you like this

Australian broadcaster ABC News identified the Atlantic Coast destination of Mar del Plata – Argentina's most popular beach resort – as the furthest land point from the despot leader's nuclear weapons.
The claim was made as the pariah state's deputy UN ambassador Kim In Ryong warned "a nuclear war may break out at any moment" and claimed the situation on the Korean peninsula has "reached the touch-and-go point." Another seed grown plant
are lithops, the living stones
a lot of them from the
Namibian desert
in Southern Africa
These guys are very
solitary, not really any
way you can grow
them other than by seed
They call them
living stones and they
mimic rocks in the
desert where they're
native to, and it keeps
animals from grazing
on them.
They're very bizarre
Plants become
collector obsessions
Very easily grown from seed.
If you have your own lithops
and you pollinate them
you can get seed out of them
Take a little paintbrush and
cross them
If you want to do your
own hybrid, pollinate
them with a paintbrush
that's one way to do it.
The seed pods on lithops
look almost like a
eucalyptus nut a little bit
they're hard-shelled
You can put them in a
coffee grinder and
get them out of there
But let them dry out
first before you do that
There's supposed to be
a thousand in here
it doesn't look like it
but they're so tiny
And because they're
so tiny, I like to put
something in there
to allow it to distribute
a bit better
so I'm going to take
gravel from roofing
shingles, I just stick
it in the jar
These guys belong to
a family of plants
called mesembs
mesembryanthemums
the mimicry plants
they often call them
Generally grow in the
warmer season
but there are other
genera within that family
which you want to do
at different seasons of the
year.
It depends on where
they're endemic to
if they're endemic to
summer rainfall areas of
Southern Africa or to
winter rain in southern Africa
that's when you want to
sow them in the spring
or in the fall
Generally with lithops
summertime is a good
time to do them
Seed is so tiny
you want to surface-sow them
What I do with lithops
and some people
don't do this
I find prevents a lot of
rotting off
Is I'll actually take this
roofing shingle gravel
And I'll just sprinkle
maybe an eighth of an
inch layer on top
of the soil
So with lithops generally
You'll get germination
in five to seven days
Probably give it another
little bit of water on top
Use a very fine mesh
watering wand, something
that will produce a nice
gentle, gentle shower
Usually the thousand-hole
wands are great
And these fit into a
freezer bag nicely
You can just seal it up
And store them up
on racks, you want to
put them someplace
that gets a lot of light
Doesn't want to be
blazing hot, but you
definitely want to have
enough light
a greenhouse obviously
is idea, but if you don't
have a greenhouse
you could germinate
these on a windowsill
just fine
It takes a while for the
lithops to get to a mature
stage where you can
actually take them out
and plant them
But pretty soon you'll
see clusters of little
plants coming up
The purpose of the
freezer bags is it
holds the moisture in
Usually you don't have
to water again until
they germinate
Once they germinate
you might want to
check them periodically
Once a month give it
a little more water
a little more moisture
but that's about it
To get them to germinate
is really quite easy
It's the point from
germination to a
mature stage is
more difficult with
these plants
in my experience.

the options we got back here real cool so you can see there the Galvatron

a firing whistle on Galvatron it looks like it has a locking cockpit there
factory pieces that move in a movie craze cool so you can see the moving
crane actually has a magnet there so you can pick up the Viacom characters also
let's go ahead and check out what's inside okay let's see what was in that
package 388 pieces this is a good size set oh okay and the cool thing is these
sets do have this nice little carry case here so when you're done building it you
can just go ahead and put everything back in so here we have the instruction
booklet which is very similar to
since here is three other sets I've done this one and I've done that one set of
Snickers that comes with it looks like you've got little Creole Transformers
poster here with a lot of the other set which I've got some of the other set
okay guys so let's go ahead and take a look at this set first we're gonna start
with Galvatron he's really cool he's got this big machine gun arm you could see
like the bullets hanging off here he's got this little claw that rotates here
his arms rotate you can see the top of his body is like a regular lego guy that
connects to these huge legs on ball joints so he does bend at the knee and
he does turn up top because everything is on a ball joint so really cool and
then we have this little tiny Grimlock saw 360 degree movement on the head the

Putting their interest above anything else is nothing new when it comes to liberals,
and that's again firmly confirmed with this recent voter fraud that's been passed in
Texas.
However, the judge received some very bad news and he deserved it.
Now, the rationality of the voting process is questioned by the leftists who want to
hide their voter fraud attempt.

a victory when it slapped down a prior activist judge's attempt to stop a proposed Texas
law demanding ID when someone votes reports the Daily Caller.
It only made sense.
One needs to show ID to rent a car, board a plane, check in to a hotel, and enter a
courthouse.
Why would the request for an ID before one carries out one of our most sacred duties
be unacceptable?
Circuit Judges Jerry Smith and Jennifer Walker Elrod, who ruled on the case, said in a statement,
"The State has made a strong showing that it is likely to succeed on the merits.
SB 5 [Texas Voter ID law] allows voters without qualifying photo ID to cast regular ballots
by executing a declaration that they face a reasonable impediment to obtaining qualifying
photo ID.
This declaration is made under the penalty of perjury."

It's safe to assume that Obama and his corrupted Judge are stumbling and, can only hope for
the best as usual, but it doesn't seem that the consequences can be avoided easily.They're

Testosterone Patches vs Needles | FTM Transgender - Duration: 6:01.
Hey everyone, so right now I've been using testosterone patches for a month
and a half and previously I'd been doing injectable testosterone for about five
years so I thought now would be kind of a good time to compare the two and talk
about basically what are the differences between the two and then I'm also gonna
go more in depth about the things that I don't like about being on testosterone
patches so to start things off I'm gonna go with price this was a big deciding
factor for me I do want to mention that I'm in Canada Ontario more specifically
and I work a full-time job that offers me like health coverage so the numbers
I'm about to say basically mean nothing to you but I do want to talk about the
numbers in comparison to one another essentially so when I'm looking at the
testosterone bottles for injectable I was paying $13 compared to the
equivalent of that in patches would be ninety patches more or less because
they'd be like three months which cost me around $30.00 with my insurance next the
big comparison is frequency so for myself I originally was doing a shot
every single week and then I ended up doing a shot every other week but for
patches I had to apply one every single day the pain in comparison like physical
pain there's more pain associated with the patches than I anticipated in the
sense of like taking them off can sometimes hurt depends on your tolerance
and stuff like that but seeing as some of the parts of my body that I put
patches on have like a fair amount of hair and are sensitive like place on the
body sometimes it hurts a lot I would argue more than actually doing my shot
would have hurt so in particular it's like this area right here is a very
sensitive one for when I take it off again I think this pain is better for
myself than having the shot even if it is like technically more pain if you've
used injectables before you may know that sometimes you can feel the needles
sometimes you can't so sometimes there's pain sometimes there's not and sometimes there's
bruising sometimes there's not so it's like kind of similar in a sense with my
patches I can - I know that when I'm putting one on my stomach or on my back
I'm not really gonna feel a whole lot but then if I'm taking it off the
back of my arm then I know it's gonna hurt a little bit more whereas with my
testosterone shots I never knew even though I was doing it in the same
general location on either one of my thighs that I didn't
really know if I was gonna feel it or not because it was just kind of a luck of
a draw thing now the main reason why I switched to patches over injections was
because I was having like a lot of needle anxiety and had been for the past like
five years or what have you so I have to say yeah this helped a lot in
that sense I'm really glad I made the switch because that's the feeling
that I wanted to get rid of and I think I successfully got rid of that feeling
now less of comparison more of just my observations about being on patches and
things that I'm I would say like disappointed with but they're not
deal-breakers I just want to mention them in case this like helps anybody
else make the decision to switch or not switch or what have you
first of all I would say that there is a lot of garbage associated with
these patches like I'm honestly I don't know why but I have like a guilt around
having any type of garbage associated with my living but yeah so having to
throw out the packaging and then also the patch every single day and it's like
a lot I don't know and of course like with testosterone injections you still
have to like have used needles once a week or whatever to dispose of as well
yeah that's just something I hadn't thought of before also patches are a lot
more noticeable to other people clearly because nobody would know that I was
doing injections that I would see like out on the street unless they saw like
needles in my home or whatever but with like my patches so I was in a situation
where I was doing some sports with some people and I had it on my arm that day
so it was noticeable to like two people brought it up to it of like the I don't know
like over a hundred people that were there essentially who were just kind of
like "oh like what's that on your arm?" and then I was like "just like a medical
thing" and they were like oh yeah okay whatever and it looks like a
band-aid so essentially they we're trying to ask about like what happened
to my arm I guess because I - it's like a bigger band-aid
right so they probably thought that there was some story behind me hurting
my arm and I know these people fairly well so I think they just wanted to make
sure I was okay another thing about patches is that I feel like I just kind
of forget more about it not - well so like I apply it every single night like I
switch them out every night when I go to bed but I feel like I don't really think
about the fact that it's testosterone as much if that make sense like I feel like
I'm I'm more disconnected by fact like I remember when I was doing
needles I was like oh I have to do a like a needle in my leg because I'm
trans and because I have to have more testosterone or whatever you know what I mean
like that kind of thinking where I like with my patch I don't even really think
about it I'm just kind of like I don't know like just switch it out whatever
and I think about it less I think that's more of a personal thing than an actual
fact about testosterone patches though also I've noticed lately so yeah I'm
like a month and a half in and also it's it's just starting to be like winter now
which I think could play into a a factor into this we're like now I'm starting to
get like more like skin peeling and stuff like that from where my patch
used to be like after I take it off the next day I'll have like skin starting to
like peel off and I've only really noticed it on my like - what's this area
like your bicep or whatever so like this part which is already like soft
skin so I just like apply lotion right after I take it off and I think that's
been helping a lot it also helps because like I showed
in my last video there's like a - there will be residue circles from like the
sticky-ness or whatever so there will just be kind of like an outline or
what-have-you around there and I feel like putting lotion on also helps
remove that again I could probably scrub it off if I really cared that much
alright so that's it for me today I will mention the fact that I'm leaving out
one of the most important things about making the switch and that's basically
how my testosterone levels have been affected since switching to patches
it's not that I'm intentionally leaving that out it's just that I haven't gotten
my blood work taken yet so I will be doing that at least for my like two
month mark or so and then I'll let you all know how that's going I'm assuming
nothing has changed because I feel exactly the same as I did before but I know that
can be like an important thing to be keeping an eye on so I will update you

What we've tried to do here at Graves Gilbert at Lost River Imaging is we've tried to separate
where the boys and the girls are.
We've tried to decide if a woman needs to have a mammogram of her breast area, that
she doesn't need to be sitting next to necessarily a man who's having a CAT scan of his abdomen.
We have a whole women's center that typically, except for maybe at the end of the night after
it's closed, a man doesn't enter that area at all.
The women can feel comfortable being in their robes or being in a gown knowing that their
privacy is at the foremost of our thoughts, as well as their imaging.
Yes, what I love about the women's center is we have an area that's completely private
for women to dress, to sit and wait to be called back for their exam, to wait for the
radiologist to come and speak with them.
It's just a nice environment.
They don't have to be sitting in a gown next to a male patient in a gown.
I think it really adds to the comfort level.
Yeah I have a lot of female patients who are very happy about having the lockers in the
dressing rooms.
Each locker has a key where they can put their things in the locker, lock it, and then they
keep the key with them when they leave and come to get their different procedures so
they know their things are locked and even if we get another patient dressed that their
things are locked up.
It's much more private, it's an area where a woman can come in and have their mammogram,
ultrasound, or bone density and never have to leave this area.
We care about our patients and we try to make their experience as easy as we can and we
try to make sure that everything is done to make the patient feel comfortable while they're
here.
