As usual Senator and 2016 Republican Presidential candidate, Ted Cruz has the back of the American

people, and when it came to getting the bottom of Mark Zuckerberg's, and Facebook political

biased he didn't let us down.

On Tuesday the Republican Senator from Texas took Facebook founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg

to task on whether, or not the social media monopoly was in the business of suppressing

free speech from conservative sources, such as the popular pro-Trump duo Diamond and Silk

and the fast-food chain Chick-fil-A.

Here is more on the grilling via Talking Points Memo:

"There are a great many Americans who I think are deeply concerned that Facebook and

other tech companies are engaged in a pervasive pattern of bias and political censorship,"

Cruz told Zuckerberg during a joint hearing of the Senate Judiciary and Commerce committees.

"There have been numerous instances with Facebook," he continued, before listing

a few, starting with a 2016 Gizmodo report that former Facebook employees claimed the

website's "trending" sidebar had suppressed conservative-leaning stories.

"In addition to that," Cruz continued, "Facebook has initially shut down the Chick-fil-A

appreciation day page, has blocked a post of a Fox News reporter, has blocked over two

dozen Catholic pages and most recently blocked Trump supporters Diamond and Silk's page,

with 1.2 million Facebook followers, after determining their content and brand were,

quote, unsafe to the community.

To a great many Americans that appears to be a pervasive pattern of political bias."

Zuckerberg didn't answer the individual examples the senator asked him.

He just sidestepped them like he sidestepped most questions which were asked during the

first day of testimony on capitol hill.

"We have communicated directly with Diamond and Silk about this issue.

The message they received last week was inaccurate and not reflective of the way we communicate

with our community and the people who run Pages on our platform," a Facebook spokesperson

said in a statement to Fox News.

But Diamond says Facebook did not reach out to them regarding the issue following the

uproar.

"They never communicated to us.

The last communication that we got was they deemed us unsafe to the community," she

said."

I originally produced this story about my father's immigrant experience

for the PBS NewsHour Student Reporting Labs.

Hawai'i is a very beautiful place.

The scenery is perfect.

There's a lot of green mountains.

Nice people, clean air, cleaner than where I came from.

I emigrated from the Philippines, and that was about seventeen years ago.

Immigrating to Hawai'i was not as easy.

You need to have a lot of sacrifices.

My wife came back to the Philippines to marry me,

but after she went back to the U.S., I was not able to come or follow.

That process takes four or five years for me to even come to the U.S.

Sixteen years ago, my father began working as a civil engineer for the Hawai'i State

Department of Transportation.

My job right now is easier for me to support my family.

But it's not easy in the beginning.

Me and my wife needed two jobs each, just to rent a house, or buy a car, and to have

anything that's a necessity.

Our family has grown in the U.S.

My parents and my sisters legally immigrated after me.

And my sisters are now married, and have their own family.

Everybody is now citizens of the United States.

I'm glad that I immigrated to Hawai'i.

Life is a lot better now.

PBS Hawai'i - HIKI NŌ Episode #912 | Aliamanu Middle - O'ahu | Ambassadors of Peace - Duration: 3:33.

Yesterday, December 7, 1941 … a date which will live in infamy.

The words of President Franklin D. Roosevelt remind us of the devastation of war.

But now, a date which will live in infamy also inspires a message of peace.

Three students from Japan, Australia and California carried that message when they came together

for one week on O'ahu.

Their visit was sponsored by the Australian National Maritime Museum for a project celebrating

peace in the Pacific.

They had to write a speech saying why they thought being an ambassador would be important,

and why they would make a good ambassador, so what personal qualities they possessed.

The ambassadors met for the first time when they arrived in Hawai'i.

With a common goal in mind, they quickly bonded with each other.

They had a busy schedule that included a visit to Aliamanu Middle School, where they met

students of various cultures and backgrounds.

They also were able to hear the firsthand accounts of the Pearl attack through a presentation

by Mr. Jimmy Lee, who was an eyewitness to the event as a child.

The ambassadors also had a chance to share their viewpoints on peace.

I'm from Australia.

I live in a town called [INDISTINCT].

We need to focus on peace, because you know, anything other than peace ends with people

getting hurt or dying.

And the only thing that matters in this world is taking care of each other.

The next day, they attended a Youth Peace symposium, where Japanese citizens and veterans

from World War II shared their thoughts.

Their stories were really, really just something different and something that I can really

take back to Australia and tell all the teachers and friends about.

I really like to hear the other perspective from other people, other countries' people.

So, it was good.

They began the following day by participating in commemoration ceremonies

of the December 7th Pearl Harbor attacks.

Later, they returned to the Pacific Aviation Museum.

Exhibits and interactive activities gave the students and ambassadors perspectives from

both sides of the war.

Finally, the hallmark of their entire visit was the signing of the peace document onboard

the USS Missouri.

It took place in the exact spot where, more than seventy years ago, the signing by Japan,

the United States and its allies officially ended the Pacific phase of World War II.

It was streamed live to students in Australia.

My heart as a young global citizen is that the few which make those life-changing decisions,

act with integrity and responsibility.

To consider the effects of conflict on the many, and to act with truth and honesty so

that the tragedies of the past are never repeated.

[APPLAUSE]

The ceremony left a lasting impression on those in attendance.

After seeing all of this, and after going through today, the word peace means to me

when people come together, and instead of fighting and arguing, they become friends.

With lessons from the past and present generations, these young ambassadors are ready to carry

on the mission of peace for generations to come.

Michelle Obama is undoubtedly furious right now as a former girlfriend of Barack's has

just come forward to confirm that he cheated on the future First Lady with her.

Daily Mail reported that long before Michelle, Obama was madly in love with Sheila Miyoshi

Jager, whom he dated throughout the mid-1980s.

"Rising Star" author David J. Garrow said that Jager played such a huge role in Obama's

life that the future president actually kept seeing her throughout the first year he dated

Michelle.

Jager said that she was so close to Obama in the years they dated that they were "an

island unto ourselves."

Garrow wrote that Obama first proposed marriage to Jager in 1986, while he was visiting her

parents.

However, her parents objected to the marriage due to the fact that they felt Jager was still

too young for marriage at 23 years-old.

Though they remained together, Jager soon began to realize her then-boyfriend's "deep-seated

need to be loved and admired."

She recently said that Obama became "so very ambitious very suddenly."

'I remember very clearly when this transformation happened, and I remember very specifically

that by 1987, about a year into our relationship, he already had his sights on becoming president,"

she said.

Garrow wrote that Obama came to believe that he needed to "fully identify as African

American" to fulfill his political ambitions, and believed that having a non-black spouse

could damage his prospects.

This caused Obama to have second thoughts about Jager, who is of Dutch and Japanese

heritage.

However, he could not seem to give her up, and he proposed a second time.

She said no, however, because she thought his proposal was "out of a sense of desperation

over our eventual parting and not in any real faith in our future."

Obama then went to law school, where he met Michelle, but Jager and him continued to see

each other on and off after she arrived at Harvard for a teaching fellowship.

"I always felt bad about it," Jager said.

Ouch!

Michelle is not going to like this!
