hey guys it's Friday today today was a

pretty good day it was nice and relaxing

I oddly enough did not take a nap today

mom had the day off work the livestream

went really really well

that was good thanks to you guys after

the stream moment I went out we got

something to eat

came back had that felt full and fat for

the rest of the day and then we just

kind of watched videos had tea did all

that kind of stuff mum took a nap I did

not and the only other thing I can

really talk about for today I guess is

my phone got in update and it has a

bunch of new stuff to it I can't really

show you show you any of it at all

unfortunately but one one cool thing is

it now has its own blue light filter

which I've been thinking about getting

because I've been hearing a lot about

those things and I've been thinking of

downloading one and now I don't even

need to so yeah that's awesome

there's also a couple things really cool

things I can do with videos is when I'm

watching a video on my phone video I

took myself or I don't know what else

because I don't know how that works but

it it seems to want to tell me that I

can make a gif out of any video so I

don't know how that works and and says

you know it has a disclaimer and says

everything bad that happens they're not

responsible for and for us to not abuse

the program or whatever look is

confusing to me but so I can take any

video I've created including this one

right here and just make a random six

second gift out of it oh sorry gif it's a

gif not a gif right I call it a gif

because that's what it looks like to me

and I've always counted that and I'll

always heard it as that so I can take a

I can make a random 6 second gif out of

any video I take and save that just like

that and it's kind of actually

interesting and neat I like it it's a cool

new feature it also adds a bunch of

other things it makes the entire phone

like this white theme with very thin

outlines for pictures and things

which makes it a little bit like weird

guess but in itself it's kind of neat I

I Made a Mistake! - Canon EOS M5 - Duration: 10:02.

most of you guys already know this and

it's exam season once again I have two

exams on Tuesdays so right now I'm just

studying really that's all I'm spending

my time on I'm really not getting that

much done to be completely honest I

would have loved to have been like twice

as far as I am today good yeah that's

life sometimes and when you can't really

pass through up the energy all you

really have to do is try and do that I

mean it's definitely not like I don't

want to do it I would actually think

it's too pretty exciting topics it's

more the fact that it's like it's the

last one and that we have to like study

for we have I have three exams this

semester well I still have three exams

is the next semester and the very last

one is a defense of a report that we're

writing in groups so it's pretty tough

to sort of prepare for that apart from

you know making the actual assignment so

this is the like the last one where we

really have to like hook up and just

read everything of course that type of

exams

suck but they're also like the ones you

learn the most from I kind of feel like

so some good some bad you know

then after Tuesday I will have I

actually I won't have much more time at

that point because then we're going to

write the report but it would feel a lot

simpler so but today I'm also going

working in four hours or something I

have to be there so this law will only

be up me in this house today and I am

hoping to go fly the drone actually and

I went out yesterday and it went amazing

I haven't been that good with a drone in

like ever and I'm such an idiot

well no I actually don't regret doing it

but I decided not to turn on the camera

on the drone because I was flying it in

the park and there was a lot of people

they are just sort of laying out there

enjoying the Sun you know and I didn't

really want them to feel pressured that

there would be a drone flying around

recording them so I sort of decided not

to record them I realized that I would

have been in my right to record them if

it wasn't for the

like that I was in a public park yeah

and of course from the fact that the

drone isn't exactly legal but apart from

that I could have occurred it was

probably a really good idea not to

record but I was really good at flying

it straight and getting that smooth shot

it feels like maybe I did that's

basically just a way I feel because I

didn't get to actually see the footage I

don't know but I feel like I did a very

good job and that feels amazing because

I really thought that I would have to

spend it like a couple of months

actually learning how to fly the thing

but I think I'm getting there I think

I'm gay I really think I'm getting it

but it's still really tough of course

but it's fun

so if yeah I mean at some point if drone

footage becomes a regular part of the

law you know why

but yeah not the most exciting day

pretty much just practicing practicing

practicing and then hopefully getting

some time to practice trolling and then

work work work but yeah that's nice

sometimes I've made a huge mistake

I brought the computer out here and I

started looking up camera stuff again I

really want to buy a new camera and I

actually looked into the canon m5 again

and I think I'm going to get that one

for two reasons

apparently the fact that the screen

folds down is incredible because when

you then check the screen you won't get

this instead you'll only get this I

really didn't see much of a difference

when I saw the screen but then I saw

bloggers talking about it and they show

like when they used it and it's a big

difference because if you get people in

your love they'll be standing like this

looking like idiots but if you use the

m5 fair enough you're still holding it

in your hand like I'm honestly I'm

usually doing that anyway but you will

get people looking back here and that's

really almost no difference so instead

of like tilting their head up they'll

just be looking down with your eyes and

a tiny bit so I really kind of think

it's growing on me and honestly like

when I use a tripod I usually don't

really have any

to look at the screen anyways so I mean

I'm considering it especially also

because I don't really take photographs

I usually only record video so I don't

have a huge need for lenses and that's

like the biggest weakness of the m5 the

m5 also does slow motion it's not okay

I'm pretty sure it's not for K why do I

not know these things oh it's definitely

not for K but as I said in the previous

video actually I can live with that

but see this is what made me look again

on the 70d the screen flips up the size

so you're constantly looking over there

looks weird I mean geez our next screen

flips up top which equally looks weird

looking up there all the time but on the

m5 the Train flips down a lot of people

don't like that because they say it gets

in the way a tripod to thing but if

you're feeling like this and you look

out yourself it doesn't look like a

great eye contact with the lens oh I

think he kind of sold me on it like this

when I saw that I was when I I knew like

I may have messed up and I may have

judged the m5 a little bit too harshly

and honestly if I do have to choose

between like apparently the perfect

camera doesn't really exist if I have to

choose between slow-motion 4k and a

flip-out screen I mean when the m5 flip

out screen all of a sudden isn't a

problem

that's pretty damn nice I hear it does

pretty well in slow motion which is also

pretty nice the g7x does okay in slow

motion as well so I can't like a

chemical crazy but it does pretty much

and the 4k thing was always the one I

didn't say I needed too much of and the

m5 economy has the same optical lens as

the 7d DS and the 80s so I really kind

of think I'm going for it but I don't

know yet I really don't know yet but I

see the thing is I need to set this

camera to the shop because it keeps

doing weird shit with my lens and and it

sucks I love the camera and I'm

definitely going to miss it and I'm kind

of being afraid right now because like

if I said this in well I don't have to

record on my phone so like weak and

that's not happening like in no way in

that no in hell is that happening my

point basically is this camera has a

tiny Flicka up here somewhere usually on

the screen

and I can't remove that I can't get that

away and I don't know whether it's a

hair on the inside of the limbs and you

can't clean that so I have to send it in

I have spoken to Cannon about it and

they say that it could take up to four

weeks and four weeks without my camera

it's just not a possibility so either I

need to buy a new one I need to find the

ones I can borrow but there's a second

problem as well the lens cover thing on

my camera here the bottom half sometimes

stays up so I get this weird look with

like it has like a black triangle over

the yes so now like it's gotten to the

point where I really need to send my

camera in but I don't want to do that

because I can't live without it

pretty much and so if I am to buy

another camera I think the m5 is the

place to go the m5 was also where I

started I was like the first camera I

was considering buying like when I

needed another one than this but I got

away from it because like every expert

ever told me that it's ridiculous to buy

it since the lenses can't be changed and

all of that but like you can buy an

adapter I'm not going to buy an adapter

because like I honestly don't have a

need to change the lenses like I'm going

to buy like a like a 55 like I don't

know like 50 to 55 would be okay 15 to

like I don't know 150 then I think I

would have everything I could ever need

so I'm never going to change the lenses

anyways so that weakness goes out the

window

I think I might I think I still don't

really know and this is all just so that

I don't have to study for the exam which

is so stupid

okay I have to go back to study now I

have to go back I only have like two

hours and then I have to go to work this

is really not great not the most

productive day in the world but hey at

least we found out what kind of camera

and they want yeah I mean the Panasonic

Lumix series look really good as well

but they're huge and they have the

screen thing to the side so I'll be

looking like this all the time and I

just I don't really see that being great

on camera

and honestly I'm usually carrying my

camera around like this anyways so why

shouldn't the screen be underneath so

that I can look down there and not

like a complete idiot in I'm pretty I'm

actually really happy I saw that video

And for a system to produce regularity in information (that is, discernible differences

that change in a way that is somewhat not random and somewhat predictable), for this

it needs to compute.

So it's necessary and sufficient for the universe—whatever else it does—that it

computes.

And we cannot really know what else it does.

So in my view it's necessary and sufficient that the universe is some kind of computer

in a pretty literal sense by the way we define computers and computer science.

It doesn't mean that we know what kind of computational class this system is in, and

there is I think a lot of contest and ideas in physics what kind of computational class

the universe really is and what capabilities it has.

What can compute and what cannot compute.

But still it's computational in some sense.

The question of whether we are living in a simulation is more related to something more

narrow, that is: this computer program that you're living in intentionally created,

or is it just a natural occurrence?

And of course we cannot really know this because no feature in the world points at this thing

being a simulation in this sense.

I don't see anything that would convince me that you are in a simulation.

But if it is one, I don't think it's for our benefit.

I don't think that all these galaxies and stars and all the intricate elementary particle

structures that we can observe in some sense—they are not necessary for our experience as primates

on the planetary surface.

It would be needed to be painted on the telescopes and microscopes by the simulator.

So I don't think that these are smokes and mirrors when we look into the sky and we see

these bazillions of galaxies.

I do think that if this is a simulation then there would be an important feature of the

simulation, which means the simulation is not there to create us.

The simulation is probably there to explore some aspects of hypothetical physics, and

we are just a random side effect or an artifact of the fact that evolution is possible in

this universe, so we could emerge in it.

I think it's very unlikely that we are in a simulation, because if I would build a simulation

of the universe I would make the computer that it runs on "irreversible".

What that means is that the operations that happen in that universe can delete bits.

It means that a state that you observe in the universe can have multiple possible states

that it comes from.

And if you look at what we know empirically in physics, that doesn't seem to be the

case.

Our universe seems to be reversible.

And this means we cannot really delete bits.

If you cannot delete bits it means that everything that we like is irreversible.

You stabilize your body temperature, you forget yesterday's body temperature in your body.

It means that you have to delete bits in some sense.

All those things that we are interested in life—planets, stars, computers, organisms,

minds—are irreversible in some sense.

They all need to delete bits to keep their structures stable against the onslaught of

the substrate, which has its different logic and its different direction that it wants

to go into.

So in some sense you get waste bits.

You need to throw these bits out of your system, and this is what observers perceive as increasing

entropy, these waste bits.

And if you would be living in a simulation like Minecraft, in Minecraft you can build

perpetual mobiles [perpetual motion machines].

That's because you don't have entropies in Minecraft.

Minecraft can delete bits.

It can forget its previous state.

This universe apparently cannot.

So the reason why we cannot have nice things in this universe, why we cannot have perpetual

mobiles, the entropy is always accumulating and is always going to get us in the end.

Maybe we'll always have to die as living beings.

But that's why life is always temporary.

Every self-stabilizing system will only have finite lifespan in this universe.

That would not be a feature I would put into a simulation.

So there is this argument that, for instance, Elon Musk made, that we can build game consoles

that create virtual worlds that look a lot like simulations to us of this universe.

They can be so realistic that we cannot really distinguish them.

And this argument is made that every civilization that has sufficient technical capabilities

is going to build many of these game consoles, so the probability that when you look around

and you find yourself in a pretty realistic looking world that you're actually in a

simulation is much higher than the probability that you are in based reality.

But I think what this doesn't take into account is the level of detail that you're

going to achieve in such a simulation.

It seems that our universe has an amazing amount of detail and to get this amount of

detail in a subset of this computer, it's very hard because if you build a computer

here on this planet it means you cannot simulate a big universe in it.

You can only simulate very, very, very small slow universe in it.

So every universe that you step into, another universe is going to have many orders of less

detail.

So I think if you find yourself in a very detailed universe that has many, many galaxies

and much more detail than you need to have intelligent life and civilizations in it and

so on, it's unlikely going to be a simulated universe created by a civilization.

It's more likely that it's base reality.
