Stephen Colbert responded Wednesday to the online backlash and #FireColbert internet
campaign that cropped up after he made insult-laden jokes about President Trump.
Colbert will open his show Wednesday night by saying: "Welcome to 'The Late Show.'

I'm still the host!!," according to an advance transcript provided to USA Today.
Colbert slammed the president for abruptly walking out of CBS's "Face the Nation"
host John Dickerson's interview, after the reporter pressed Trump about his claims that
President Obama wiretapped him.
Both Colbert and Dickerson are CBS employees, as well as friends.
"Now, if you saw my monologue Monday, you know that I was a little upset at Donald Trump
for insulting a friend of mine," Colbert will say Wednesday.
"So at the end of that monologue, I had a few choice insults for the president in
return.
I don't regret that.
He, I believe, can take care of himself.
I have jokes; he has the launch codes.
So, it's a fair fight."
Colbert came under fire for his harsh rant, as well as for a comment many say is "homophobic."
"Sir, you attract more skinheads than free Rogaine," Colbert said in his Monday opening
monologue.
"You have more people marching against you than cancer.
You talk like a sign language gorilla that got hit in the head.
In fact, the only thing your mouth is good for is being Vladimir Putin's c–k holster."
While he did not directly apologize, he admits he could've used different wording to describe
what the president's mouth is good for, according to the Wednesday night transcript.
"While I would do it again, I would change a few words that were cruder than they needed
to be," he said.
"I'm not going to repeat the phrase, but I just want to say for the record, life is
short, and anyone who expresses their love for another person, in their own way, is to
me an American hero.
I think we can all agree on that.
I hope even the president and I can agree on that.
Nothing else.
But, that."
According to USA Today, Colbert will welcome 'The Big Bang Theory' actor Jim Parsons
to his show and discuss the "controversy."

Stephen Colbert has come under fire on social media for a crude joke he made about President
Donald Trump on Monday's broadcast of The Late Show that some critics claimed was bigoted
and homophobic.
While attempting to defend his CBS colleague John Dickerson, Colbert said Trump's mouth
is only "good for is being Vladimir Putin's c*ck holster."
Outraged by the remark, social media users quickly made the hashtag #FireColbert a top
trending topic on Twitter Tuesday.
"Colbert's homophobic rant was disgusting and we won't tolerate this anti-LGBTQ behavior,"
one user wrote.
"Liberals ruin the careers of conservatives all the time, so the #FireColbert campaign
is just giving libs a taste of their own medicine," argued another.
Some called Colbert a "homophobe" and a "bigot."
German Lopez, a reporter for left-wing news outlet Vox, wrote that Colbert's joke pointedly
mocked gay people.
"In a setting in which Colbert is deliberately trying to find a way to insult Trump, it's
telling that he resorts to suggesting that Trump is engaging in sexual acts with another
man.
The suggestion is that the worst thing that could happen for these men is if they engaged
in homosexual acts together, as if that devalues them as men or emasculates them."
Colbert's over-the-top late-night monologue also included fat jokes about President Trump.
"Mr. President, I love your presidency.
I call it 'Disgrace the Nation,'" he began.
"You're not the POTUS; you're the 'BLOTUS.'
You're the glutton with the button.
You're a regular 'Gorge Washington.'
You're the 'presi-dunce' but you're turning into a real 'prick-tator.'"

Today in sports, badminton travels to Homestead for their league finals.
Girls lacrosse travels to Palo Alto.
Track travels to Los Gatos for the SCVAL finals.
Varsity baseball travels to Los Gatos, and Frosh-Soph baseball hosts Los Gatos.
In other sports news, there will be a barbecue potluck meet-and-greet for MVHS students and
parents who are interested in the new wrestling team for next year.
The event will be held at Cuesta Park on May 21st at barbecue area #2 from four to seven
P.M.
There will be burgers and hotdogs, and a pick up game of volleyball with local middle school
wrestling coaches and other community members.

When we elected an outsider as the president, I thought we patriots sent a strong message
to the Republicans.
They didn't hear it.
Republican lawmakers either need to get behind President Trump or get the heck out of the
way.
After three months in office, Congress has proven to be an utter disappointment.
The American people came together in November last year to tell the elite that they are
obsolete.
Politicians proved that they cannot be trusted, so we stood behind a man who truly had We
the People's interests in mind.
We won the election.
We won the battle against the establishment.
So, why does it feel like we just stopped winning?
Paul Ryan should have had a plan for healthcare.
Ryan fought against Obamacare for eight years, yet had no reasonable bill ready to replace
the bloated Democrat healthcare plan?
That is just embarrassing.
The GOP should not have capitulated to the liberals on spending.
Actually, the GOP shouldn't have given in to the Dems on anything.
We have the House, the Senate, and the president.
The Democrats should be cowering in the corner begging for a voice.
Now, we have been backed into a corner.
President Trump cannot achieve his mandate with the spineless GOP Congress.
We need to replace them ALL in 2018.
However, if Republicans continue to obstruct Trump, then voters will reject conservative
options and the Democrats will secure control of Congress.
Republicans have let the American people down in every conceivable way.
Even in the easy fights, they surrender in the first round.
President Trump is standing alone on Capitol Hill.
We may as well shut down the government — it's not like they can accomplish anything.
Trump should just run the show on his own at this point!
Besides, when you look at the things President Trump has complete control over, like the
executive orders and his meetings with businesses, they are going great.
President Trump KNOWS what we want and has made all the right moves to deliver it.
But when the GOP, or the "activist" judges, step in, everything is ruined.
If these politicians were employees, then President Trump would fire every single one
of them.
This proves that there is no difference between congressional Republicans and the Democrats.
That swamp has invaded every aspect of Washington, and no politician in clean.
We need to removed every Republican from office and replace them with outsiders.

MINIATURE woven basket TUTORIAL // DOLLHOUSE // DIY - Duration: 5:42.
hey everyone today I will be showing you
how to weave your own miniature basket
let's get started
for this I used a small jump ring and
some jewelry wire you can use bamboo
yarn twine or anything pliable and
weave-able you will need an odd amount of 5
centimeter pieces to tie onto the jump
ring. as I'm using wire
I made a loop hook this on to the ring
and clamp tight now use 7 pieces of wire
for this project to start off with the
weaving you will need 1 piece by itself
and pair up all of the other pieces the
more pieces you add the bigger the
basket will be
next using some twine tie one end to the
jump ring and begin weaving you will
want to start next to the single piece
first weave under the single then over
the double piece then under the next and
over and so on do this three or four
times
once the base is done separate the pair
lengths of wire and continue weaving
this is where you can begin to shape
your basket I use my thumb as a template
to know how tight
I needed to weave the twine you can make
a long basket by continuing to weave
until you have the desired height or you
can use a bottle cap to make it wider
and make it much larger basket it's
really up to you once you're happy with
the shape tie off the twine to one of
the wire supports
to weave the wire into the basket grab
one of the pieces and weave it over the
next then bend it down keep doing this
until all the pieces are done cut off
any excess and now your basic basket is
done. time for the handle use the same
structure material you used for the base
of the basket and tie or glue this onto
one side
then secured to the opposite side now
the weave the trims and handle find the
middle point in a long piece of twine
and begin twisting the two pieces
together lay the twisted twine along the
top of the basket securing in place with
strong glue
once you have gone around the edge twice
continue twisting the twine and begin
wrapping this around the handle use glue
to secure it in place as you need
once you have reached the end of the
handle glue in place to secure and cut
off any excess
and now your tiny basket is complete you
can decorate it how you like using some
acrylic paint I covered any of the
bright silver pieces that were exposed
from the wire once that was dry I
trimmed away any uneven or scraggly bits
