Up your PHOTOGRAPHY COMPOSITION game with SUBFRAMING - Duration: 9:56.

what is up everybody welcome back to the show we are back into photo assignments

once again today and we are going to be doing photo assignment number 11 which

deals with something called sub framing sub framing is a technique where you use

elements within your composition to frame up your subject so the end result

is a picture within a picture one of my favorite photographers who uses this

technique quite a bit is Robert Frank now Robert Frank does street photography

and because street photography is improvised you're going to see him using

sometimes literal objects that will frame something in whether that's a car door

or maybe that's a window and then other times it's very subtle like he'll use

buildings in the background to frame in the subject and send them up to draw

your eye in

another photographer whose work I greatly admire is actually somebody that I

know through making these videos because he participates in photo assignments

religiously and fanatically I always get like 20 entries his name is Craig

Whitehead you might know him by his moniker online which is sixstreetunder

what I like about Craig's work is that he takes a lot of the ideas and the

approaches from what we saw in the 1940s and the 1950s in terms of street

photography but then he adds a modern aesthetic into it he shoots with longer

focal length lenses he has a wonderful wonderful sense of color that he likes

to use check out how Craig uses sub framing

so for this photo assignment I thought it would be a good idea to start by just

showing you some images so you would begin to get a feel for what I'm talking

about with sub framing but I want to dig a little bit deeper into it and talk

about why it works let me illustrate okay

this is a blank sheet of paper this will represent a photograph I'm going to make

a point of something that occurs within visual composition it is time for some

of Ted's patented bad drawing skills bear with me folks this is not an

interesting photograph this is just a little drawing that I'm using to make a

point here and that is is this still works in the sense that your eye is

drawn to the subject which is this poorly drawn stick figure down here and

the reason that is we talked about this in the last photo assignment this is

negative space and so what you have is you have this extreme juxtaposition

between a very low activity that's going on here

and the stick figure who's down here so first of all the scale but also the use

of negative space this obviously isn't very practical when we're talking about

photography because photography especially if you're shooting street

photography you're not in a studio situation you are dealing with what's

around you and typically for instance out on the street you're gonna have

buildings and cars and other people and signs and logos and advertisements and

more logos and more advertisements and it becomes very difficult to actually

isolate your subject enough to create that type of interest so for example

I've got a good one that I'm going to show you here what if you wanted to

shoot the Chrysler Building in New York the Chrysler Building is an amazing looking

building and if you've ever been in New York City and you've seen that skyline

you know that it's cluttered with a lot of other stuff so how would you use a

technique to be able to isolate that to draw your eye into that as your subject

okay check this out this is a photo I'm talking about of the Chrysler Building

and it's been isolated now what is the technique that's been used here well it

is sub framing Baril has used an empty office building to actually create a

secondary frame within the composition to show you the Chrysler Building and to

isolate it from its surroundings Tom Baril is one of my favorite

photographers and another thing I want to point out is on the Chrysler Building

is check out the scale that's involved there in juxtaposition to the size of

the photograph it's really pretty small and my point that I want to make is

that when you use sub framing this is a way to start using scale to your

advantage to create interest within a photograph bring

interest to your subject now using scale especially smaller scales within the

photo is hard to do and that's why most people don't use it that's why people

use longer lenses and they tend to get up closer to things to isolate it from

its surroundings but when you do this and you put the effort in it can be very

effective one other point that I want to make about a photograph is a photograph

is a two-dimensional object so we see photos on two dimensions whether it's on

a sheet of paper in a book on a screen whatever but a photograph is a

representation of a three-dimensional world and photography does this so well

because you have depth of field you can use blur to knock things out of focus to

create that depth but I also want to point out that the deal with sub

framing is is that you can create sub framing by using something that is in

front of your subject to frame it in you can also use something that is behind

the subject so let's go check out a couple examples of this so we're gonna

look at some portraits that were taken by Arnold Newman who is one of my

favorites and Arnold Newman is typically associated with the environmental

portrait so the environmental portrait is you take your subject and you put

them in an environment that supports who they are what they do and so this first

one is a very extreme example of sub framing but this is a sculptor this is

Isamu Noguchi and his head is literally stuck in the middle of this

sculpture and I think this really proves the point but it also supports and it

has a way of bringing your attention into the subject and it supports who

they are and I think another example of that that uses sub framing that is

probably a little more conventional is this which is I.M. Pei who the famous

architect and we are seeing him through a little window but it's using a lot of

black space so what he has done is through sub framing he has created the

whole idea of negative space in its relationship to the subject and so draws

your eye in and it also supports the fact that he is an architect we don't

actually see the architecture but if we did it would be distracting so I think

this is a great solution that and he came up with for that another one this

is of the famous pop artist Roy Lichtenstein again we're using sub

framing but the thing I want you to notice here and this is something that

Arnold Newman did quite a bit of which is use something behind the subject for

your sub framing so you can see that there's a canvas behind his head and

what that does is it draws your eye and it creates more contrast it's a black

and white photo between the background and the subject and it's very subtle

but this is sub framing from the backside and another example of this is the

famous painter Josef Albers who did all these color studies that were kind of a

square within a square and he used that as a contraption or a device to

sub-frame against the subject so again it creates a little bit of interest if

it were an all black background it's not necessarily distracting and it would

work but this creates more interest because it's one of Albers paintings

again you see this with Georgia O'Keeffe as she is standing against an easel that

has a skull on the top of it but anyway… these are pretty classical

examples of sub framing the way Arnold Newman did it another photographer that

I want to look at that is one of my favorites is Dan Winters now this is not

a style that Dan Winters is typically associated with he typically is known

for his work shooting portraits of celebrities against flat backgrounds

and these are some of my favorites and what I like about these first of all the

subject in this photo is these little figures clear out at the water on the

beach and you're seeing these taken between the legs in the foreground okay

so first of all this is breaking rules putting subjects out of focus in the

foreground is a no-no it's distracting it shouldn't work but he's using it as a

compositional device and this is what is really interesting he's using this to

draw your attention and he's using that depth of field with the camera that

photography is inherited of I mean it's not like painting where you have to

create that it exists with the camera and it's drawing your interest in and

it's a really interesting use of sub framing another one that I think is

really subtle is this pointing hand and it's just framed up between two people

again in the foreground out-of-focus but where's your eye drawn I think it's

pretty obvious and then finally another one which is the Statue of Liberty and

you have tourists in the front and I think much like the environmental

portraits that we're looking at that that Arnold Newman had done you're

looking at a technique and the importance here is that you're drawing

the attention into something that in this case is small and scale but in both

cases Arnold Newman and Dan Winters is the subjects or whatever is doing the

sub framing is there to support the subject and the intent of the

composition I think that is very important so that is sub framing and

that is your assignment for this segment of photo assignments if you are new to

the show and you have no idea what photo assignments are these are these weekly

challenges that we do to that are designed to improve your creative thinking and

your overall skills as a photographer essentially these are designed so you

can go back and do them at any time but if you want to participate in the moment

as we are doing them basically what I do is that give the assignment on a Monday

and then the following Monday I do the recap video and people who have

submitted work during that week I will feature the best ones on the show so if

you want to know how to submit your work I have an entire video explaining how to

do that that I will link up here or in the show description wherever you're

viewing this so go check that out if you want to participate and as far as a

deadline people always want me to put the deadline in here and let's do that

so today is September 11, 2017 let's go for September 18th is when the next

video will go out and I'll give you until - I'll make the video on Sunday

which is the 17th so September 16th that is your deadline that is Saturday by

midnight or whenever - or by the time I start doing it I mean sometimes like

literally I sit down and there's a couple things that just flew in and I'll

consider them so anyway I will make that video on the 17th to just make sure you

have your images submitted before then and if you have any questions please

leave them in the comments below and if you enjoyed this video please remember to like it

share it subscribe to the Art of Photography for more videos I will see

you guys in the next one until then later

How to Shave Your Legs With Razor || Shaving Tips ( Step By Step) - Duration: 3:56.

When you have a date along with your razor, get the foremost out of it (minus annoying

plant material and bumps) with the following tips from Whitney Bowe, MD, a skin doctor

in big apple town, and banter Zeichner, MD, director of cosmetic and clinical analysis

at Mount Sinai Hospital in big apple town.

1:Save Shaving for Last The longer you're within the shower, the

longer your skin and hair got to thereforeften up so it's easier to shave," Bowe says.

therefore wash your hair and face before grabbing your razor to make sure your hair has reached

optimum shaving conditions.

2: Exfoliate To get the nighest shave, Bowe recommends

exfoliating 1st to get rid of dead skin cells that would clog your razor and cause razor

burn.

Lather up with a multitasking body wash that additionally exfoliates, like St. Ives Purifying

ocean Salt Scrub

3: Use Shaving Cream Shaving gel or cream may mean an additional

step (as critical simply mistreatment body wash), however Zeichner says it's worthwhile

"to more soften the hair and skin, moisturize, and permit the blade to glide swimmingly across

skin."

Bowe conjointly explains that "shaving on dry skin ends up in a lot of waterlessness

and irritation," and recommends staying removed from a lather with alcohol or fragrance

if you have got sensitive skin.

4: Skip Over Ingrown Hairs You might assume that shaving over your ingrowing

hairs can facilitate them heal, however Bowe says it solely irritates the vesicle any.

She recommends shaving round the inflamed hairs till they clear up.

Can't appear to kick them?

5: Shave Both Ways "Start by shaving within the same direction

your hair grows, then shave up, against the grain," Bowe says.

"This technique can enable the hair to grow back with a pointed tip therefore it's dilutant

and feels electric sander than a blunt edge."

6: Always Rinse To prevent your razor from developing build-up

and oxidation, each Bowe and Zeichner suggest removal it completely and patting dry when

7: Always Follow With a Moisturizer You're virtually scraping off that 1st layer

of skin and wet with a blade once you shave, thus you've got to create positive you fill

that later," Zeichner says.

Bowe likes exploitation flower or vegetable oil as a natural hydrater

8: Stay Sharp We all apprehend we're purported to amendment

When Will I Be Happy with My Weight Loss Progress? - Duration: 6:14.

Hey everybody and welcome to the video.

Today we're talking about yourself and others noticing your progress during your weight

loss journey.

Let's get into it.

So I am excited to bring you guys another comment from this new format for 'Walk With

Me'.

I really feel like this is going to be a great way to cover a lot of different topics that

normally I wouldn't really be able to talk about.

And hopefully you guys have been liking doing it this way, definitely, if you ever have

any topics or anything leave them down below for me and we can always cover it on a future

episode.

But the topic for today comes from Jack Pot, and he had asked:

"Hey so I just lost 50lbs and have about 140lbs more to go to hit the goal weight.

But people haven't seemed to notice at all.

The only people who have noticed are people who I told I was going on a diet.

When did people start to notice you losing weight and how much weight did it take for

you to feel better?"

So for reference, if anyone is new around here, I started my weight loss journey--I

was 315lbs at my heaviest, or as far as I am aware of.

And for the duration of this channel, my weight has hovered between about 175lbs and 185lbs.

So for me coming from 315, I feel like I didn't really---I feel like I didn't start to get

those crazy comments until I was about 250ish, from what I can remember.

I had a few close family members and things along the way obviously notice as I was going

down because they knew I was dieting.

I definitely started to get comments from people I didn't see regularly probably around

that 250lb mark.

The main reason I chose this, the second part of this question.

How much weight did it take for me to start feeling better?

So this was definitely something I struggled with on the way down, and I'm sure most of

you do too, if you're on a longer-term weight loss journey.

I remember being down 60lbs, 70lbs, 80lbs down, and having worked for years to get to

where I was and I was still so unhappy with how I looked and I just felt like all of that

work I had put in just seemed so frustrating because it had taken me so long to get to

where I was and I still was not in the slightest bit happy with my body.

It's very easy to get discouraged with yourself on the way down.

Because for me, until I got really close to my current and goal weight, when I was 20

or 30lbs of it kind of started to click, and I kind of had in my head like 'Alright, this

is it.

I've just gotta power through a little bit more and I'm at the finish line'.

And I had started to become a little bit happier with my body, but for the 3 and a half years

before that, it was definitely not the case.

You have to do your best to keep the big picture in mind.

Just know that you are going to hit your goals if you keep working and it's all going to

pay off in the end if you follow through.

That's why I had so many backslides in my journey, because I was so unsatisfied with

the progress, I had just kind of had enough and slid back into old habits.

I wish I had better advice to help fix and help any of you that are currently in that

situation but from my experience the only way I was really able to get over that was

time and hard work towards my goals.

I know I've talked about this before, but trying to set those smaller goals along the

way can definitely help, taking those transformation photos can definitely help, but someone with

that much weight to lose, you know 100+ pounds.

Being morbidly obese, you have-- your weight can fluctuate so much without people noticing.

So I definitely wouldn't feel bad if people haven't noticed yet.

It's easy for those weight fluctuations, even 20, 30, 40lbs.

If you're at that point where you have so much to lose your weight can fluctuate that

much without you even noticing.

With me getting to my goal weight now one of the really surprising things was that I

can tell if I've gained or lost 5lbs.

Like, it's a big difference in my physique, but when we're heavier I don't think any of

us would have noticed, "Oh, I gained 20lbs this month from eating so much."

Those weight fluctuations are barely noticeable from ourselves, how do you think we were able

to get to the weight that we were at?

I wouldn't feel discouraged if people don't notice, you didn't notice that dramatic of

a change on your way up I'm sure, I know I didn't.

I know one of the big ways I felt like I was able to push through was taking all of that

frustration from not being to where my goals were at, and channeling that into pushing

my progress further.

So just channel that all into more progress as best you can.

Like I said, I know I struggled a lot with this and there's no definite advice I can

give that's going to fix it.

So just do your best to push through, people will definitely be noticing if you keep working

at it.

But I hope everyone's week is going well, I'm filming 2 'Walk With Me's' this week,

trying to get a little bit of lead time.

I want to make sure I have enough free time to visit with my family when they come into

town.

My family and everyone I know lives back in Michigan so it's been--so it's been an adjustment

for sure, being away from them.

So I'm just trying to get a little bit of a head start, I've got a busy week of editing.

I'm actually in the middle of editing the vlog that will have just came out this past

Friday, I hope you guys checked it out, it is coming along so well.

I know I've made the vlogs back in the day but I feel like these are just a quality I

can be proud of finally.

So it's been fun to progress as a youtuber, but I hope you guys all enjoyed the video,

be sure to give it a like if you did.

It helps the channel grow, and subscribe if you want to see more.

I put these out every Monday and I put other videos out every Friday.

And leave me a comment down below if you have any questions you want me to cover.

But until next time, I will talk to you all later.

Have a good one.

I'm a Cambridge University Student and Making Cambridge Vlogs | A Channel Update [CC] - Duration: 3:41.

Hello everyone my name is Katie if you didn't already know. It's slightly

different setup from normal that's because it's a horribly cloudy day in

Ireland and this seems to be the only place in the house that is getting

decent lighting so we're gonna go with it. Essentially what today's video is

about is an update on what I'm doing with my channel and how I'm going to be

chronicling my time at Cambridge and sharing that with you. For those of you

who don't know I'm about to start a master's in law or the LLM at Cambridge.

I think the official title is Master of Laws which sounds very fancy and very

smart all together. I'll be at St. Edmund's college and basically I've

decided to expand what I do on my YouTube channel beyond just talking

about books and occasionally talking about bullet journaling to also talking

about Cambridge and to providing you guys with weekly vlogs so I leave for

Cambridge on the 27th of September which is not that far away at all it's kind of

terrifying actually. And so from then on there will be weekly vlogs providing I

have enough time to edit them and those will go up on a Monday but for the next

couple of weeks there are going to be sit-down videos

where I talk to you about things like the application process and the various

tips and tricks that I have for you. I'll probably talk to you about trying to

pack my entire life into two suitcases because I am Irish so

I am moving from Dublin where I did my undergraduate degree in Trinity College

Dublin to Cambridge and while it's not very far I still have a lot of stuff to

bring with me and it's going to be interesting trying to put that all into

suitcases to bring on a ryanair flight where they will definitely charge me for

oversized baggage if I am even like 0.1 of a kilo over. But yes why am I making

Cambridge videos? Why am i veering off book videos? It's mostly because I want

to share this opportunity with you. Cambridge vlogs were definitely integral

to my choosing to apply to Cambridge and to then choosing to go to Cambridge over

the other offers that I had for my masters, also

kind of want to chronicle the time for myself to look back on so it's a bit of

both. Additionally there aren't any

postgraduate Cambridge vloggers that I can find so I presume I'm gonna offer

you something a little different. It'll be a post-grad perspective, there

won't be supervisions involved and it will just be something a little bit

different. Also all of the Cambridge vloggers that I've found all seem to be

from the UK. I'm not and if you want to tell me that Ireland is part of the UK,

the south of Ireland I will fight you. So I think my perspective will be a little

bit different. For those of you who are here for my book videos don't worry

they're not going anywhere. Book videos will still go up every

Thursday. There will also probably be Friday reads when I have time although a

lot of those book videos are probably going to be pre filmed where possible

just to make sure that they're getting out on time while I adjust to the

workload at Cambridge and then Cambridge videos, Cambridge vlogs, they're gonna go

up every Monday. I will continue to upload at 4:00 p.m. British Standard

Time and yeah tune in I really hope that you don't unsubscribe and I really hope

that if you're new that you do subscribe and follow along either with my bookish

journey or my Cambridge journey or both! If you have any questions or queries or

you just have this particular type of sit-down video that you would like me to

make please let me know and that can definitely be done. That is pretty much

it for today thank you guys for watching and I will see you my next video bye!

Full Face Of First Impressions | Testing New Makeup | Beauty With Mi - Duration: 9:11.

Hey guys! It's Mi-Anne and this is Beauty With Mi.

I don't know about you

but the end of summer

tends to bring up an array of mixed feelings.

It marks this low descent into fall,

the beginning of a new school year,

shorter days.

But on the bright side,

it brings an onslaught of tons of new beauty products.

Woo!

So with everything hitting the market at such a fast pace,

it can be really overwhelming

to shop for new makeup,

even for someone like me,

who's literal job it is to stay on top of new releases.

So I thought I would put five

of the buzziest new products to the test

and hopes that it would guide you

in your shopping experience.

I've got a few things today that I'm really excited to try.

I have not touched any of these things.

The first of which is

Too Faced's new Comfort Matte Foundation.

Glossier's powder.

Wowder.

Dose of Colors' new highlighters with

fellow YouTubers, Desi and Katy.

The Anastasia Beverly Hills Subculture Palette.

And last but not least,

the Bite Amuse Bouche Liquified Lipsticks.

So let's put these on my face.

I have never used this foundation before so

I'm not super positive what my shade is.

I think it's warm nude.

So it's oil-free, 14-hour wear, oil-controlling,

and photo-friendly.

It doesn't feel like foundation to be honest.

It feels like a tinted moisturizer, which is nice.

A lot of matte foundations have a tendency

to look cakey or dry or cling to dry patches

on your face.

This one isn't doing that.

It's not very high coverage, which I actually prefer.

It looks so skin-like.

So I'm going to move on to powder now.

I was very shocked when they came out with

this powder because Glossier is all about

like dewey, dewey, dewey, dewey skin.

But they say this is like the new powder.

So what I'm going to do is…

I'm going to set half of my face with this powder.

So that I can see how well the powder works

with the foundation, but I also want to see

how the foundation holds up on its own.

So I'm going to ask my crew which side of my face

I should powder.

Guys?

Left!

Okay, left!

It's nice.

I mean it's a powder.

I will say it looks really good.

It doesn't look cakey on my face at all.

My pores look smaller on this side

I think than the other side,

but so far, so good.

So I'm going to move on to le highlighter.

I've been so excited about these

Dose of Colors highlighters.

On one cheek, I think I'm going to use a fan brush.

And then the other cheek,

I'm going to use a tapered highlighter brush

just because I'm curious to see how they apply.

Okay so the fan brush is applying it pretty sheer.

But this one actually you can build it up really nicely.

Let's see what happens with this tapered brush.

Yeah this one is definitely,

I think, going on a little bit stronger.

I think I prefer it with this brush!

It looks really pretty.

I wonder how it will last throughout the day

because highlighter tends to just kind of

disappear on me.

We'll see.

This palette launched, I think, in August

and received a lot of flack.

Mainly because a lot of consumers were saying

that the eyeshadows were really powdery and

not of the same quality

as other Anastasia Beverly Hills eyeshadows.

I'm sticking my finger in Roxy, this pretty pink shade.

And… whoa!

Do you see how pigmented that is?

Okay.

Axis.

That one was powdery, you guys.

Mercury.

All Star.

I'm into that one.

I'm so into that one.

That one is so pretty.

Do you see this right now?

I'm going to use Adorn all over my lid

because it's so pretty.

It's so metallic and gorgeous

so I'm going to use that.

The formula for this one does feel a little bit drier

but the pigment is there definitely.

And then I'm going to buff a little bit

of the New Wave shade into my crease just

to blend it out.

I'm going to put a little bit of Roxy in my crease too

just because I really want to use this color.

The shadows are applying really nicely.

I think they're blending well too.

I'm going to not wear eyeliner.

And I'm going to use this eyeshadow instead.

I'm going to put a little bit on my lower

lash line just for some extra definition.

The last thing that I have here is

the Amuse Bouche Liquified Lipstick from Bite.

This is not supposed to be a true liquid lipstick.

It's supposed to be a very hydrating kind of satin finish.

It's a little shinier than I had hoped it would be.

I think I'm going to blot it a little bit just to

tone down the shine.

Voilà!

Who's going to buy this for $1,000?

And that is my full face done.

I just added some bronzer and some mascara.

But I have a few fun activities planned

to test out this makeup throughout the day.

I think I'm going to go shopping,

walk around downtown New York a little bit,

maybe have some lunch at a Halal cart,

and then at the end of the day

I'm going to meet my friend

at this really cool rooftop bar

at the Conrad Hotel called Loopy Doopy.

They have popsicle drinks.

I'm very excited about it.

Let's get on with the day! Shall we?

Alright, guys.

I'm kind of halfway through my chicken gyro here.

Lipstick's pretty much off.

I kind of licked it off because I didn't

want it to get all over my sandwich situation.

So I'm going to top it off a little bit

so you can see.

It's nice because you can apply it like a lip balm.

It feels really, really hydrating on the lips.

I'm gonna go do some errands.

I'm gonna grab some stuff out some shops.

So stay tuned.

Alright!

So I just did some errands.

I'm actually mostly impressed honestly with

how vibrant the eyeshadow looks.

Even if I go far away,

you could still see it.

I'll see you later!

Bye!

My friend, Rachel, is going to come visit me

and we're going to have some popsicles together.

Hi!

—It's been so long! —Nice seeing you!

Alright.

So I'm here with Rachel.

We got our popsicles.

—Cheers! —Boom!

Let's taste it.

—It's really good. —So good.

I'm going to ask her about my makeup.

What do you think?

The eyeshadow looks amazing!

Really?

I also was very pleased with it, actually.

Yeah and right when I saw you today,

I was like, "It really glows."

That's great.

I think that it is a little bit smudging

on the bottom, but I think, it's 5 o'clock,

—that's pretty normal at that point. —So you've been wearing it a while.

I've been wearing it for a while.

I started at 9 a.m.

What powder are you using?

Glossier Wowder.

Oh!

I've heard a lot of buzz about that one.

Does it look good?

Does it look like skin?

It looks really good.

I think it does too.

What highlighter is this because this is glowing?

It's the Dose of Colors Desi and Katy highlighter,

those two YouTubers.

And they did a good job because it's so metallic.

And you can really build it.

I put a lot on.

I think this eyeshadow with highlighter...

—is 100%. —You're so nice.

Thank you! Well alright.

Sounds like we got the Rachel Chen approval.

Do you want to take some rooftop selfies?

Heck yeah!

Alright, guys.

So I am back.

It's around 7 p.m.

So I've had this makeup on for 10 hours.

And I've got to say, it's still looking pretty fresh.

The foundation, I think, feels so good.

I think I'm going to wear it tomorrow.

If you're not huge into powder,

but you do want to powder your face, I would say maybe

spring for something a little cheaper.

I do think this powder is lovely.

But, I will say that I didn't think I necessarily needed it.

The lipstick.

It's definitely not something I would wear

if I needed to depend on my lipstick for

12 hours straight.

But it's still very comfortable and nice.

And since my lips are dry,

I was like… thank you.

The highlighter is still really going strong.

I will say that because it is so metallic,

it does have a tendency to go a little bit

powdery.

It's nothing crazy.

You're not going to be like, "Whoa.

That's straight up powder on your face."

But if you look really closely, it does look like that.

The eyeshadow, I think,

I was really, really impressed with it,

which I was really surprised about.

Because again, I had heard so many mixed reviews

about the palette.

It's not a beginner palette.

That's what I would say.

All in all, I liked everything that I put on my face today,

which I'm honestly not that

surprised by it.

Because I've heard so much about them.

I had high hopes and they performed.

So let me know what you guys think of the products

or if you buy any of these.

And let me know what I should try next on

Beauty With Mi in the comments below.

Honoring Patriots Day-I Will Never Forget - Duration: 1:32.

The Computer/Electronic Accommodations Program, also known as CAP.

Michael Young, a CAP employee since 2000, was in the Pentagon during the September 11th,

2001 terrorist attacks.

His experience further strengthened his dedication to CAP.

I believe that everyone was impacted, in some way or another, by September 11th, 2001.

I know that personally, I was.

I was working in the Pentagon on 9/11, and I was changed personally by that experience.

But at that time, I had no idea I would also be changed professionally, after that.

I really understood what a family there is in the Pentagon when I returned after 9/11.

Every handshake was held a little bit longer, and most were accompanied by maybe a squeeze

to the shoulder, or a squeeze to the elbow.

Before 9/11, I could never have imagined myself being in these places, these military treatment

facilities, these wounded warrior battalions, and working alongside such a fine team of

medical and rehabilitation professionals.

9/11 really altered my professional path quite significantly, and it's been personally so

rewarding for me, to continue to be able to provide the tools to those who gave so much

and continue to give so much—for all of us.

VEGAN STARBUCKS CREAM CHEESE PUMPKIN MUFFINS | Recipe by Mary's Test Kitchen - Duration: 10:19.

Hello friends and not-yet-friends,

Today we're making Starbuck's Cream Cheese Pumpkin muffins better!

No dairy, no eggs, just soft, rich vegan muffins made with nutritious pumpkin and delightful

pumpkin spice with a cheesecake-like creamy center baked right in, sprinkled with crumb

topping and sugared pumpkin seeds...mmm!

The're so awesome.

And for all my fellow Canadians who crave the Tim Horton's version with cream cheese

frosting, I got you.

Speaking of options, you can make these with regular flour or make a gluten-free version

with oats.

These are your pumpkin muffins and there are no rules!

Everything comes together quickly so first, preheat your oven and get your muffin tray

ready.

I'm greasing the top surface with a little vegan butter so that if and when batter spills

on top, it won't stick.

And popping in reusuable silicone liners which make getting the muffins out super easy.

Then set those aside.

In a large mixing bowl, combine your dry ingredients.

You can use regular all-purpose flour, like I mentioned earlier, or blend some gluten-free

oats in a blender or food processor to make your own gluten-free oat flour.

My food processor makes the flour kind of rough.

When I use my blender, the oat flour is finer.

Both textures work though.

Finer oat flour makes a muffin that looks more like the regular kind, rougher oat flour

gives a more rustic look.

Make sure to check the printable recipe for all the exact amounts.

For best results, measure by weight if you can.

Baking powder and baking soda will help our muffins rise and bake up nice and fluffy.

And our spices will give the muffin that signature pumpkin spice flavour.

I love this smell.

Someone told me it was too early for pumpkin-y things but the leaves are already turning

color here and I just can't fight that cozy fall spirit!

I love autumn; the colors, the smells, the food.

Thumbs up if you love fall too!

In a separate bowl, combine the wet ingredients.

That's pure pumpkin puree not pumpkin pie filling.

Our recipe calls for a 14 oz can but I found that every can that I used during testing

had a little extra so be sure to measure it out.

You should have one and a half cups plus two tablespoons or 390ml.

I'm adding a couple teaspoons of apple cider vinegar to vanilla soy milk here but you can

actually dump everything into the bowl at the same time.

Then brown sugar.

And white granulated sugar.

The two kinds of sugar together give the right amount of sweetness with a hint of molasses

that goes perfectly with the spices.

Then a quarter cup of canola oil or your choice of a neutral oil and a teaspoon of vanilla

extract.

I know someone's going to ask if they can omit the oil replace it with extra pumpkin

or other oil alternative and the answer is... not if you want to achieve that perfect coffee

shop muffin texture.

But if you've been living the oil-free life and are used to that oil-free texture...You

do you.

Now we can add the wet to the dry.

Use a rubber spatula to get every bit of it.

If you're using oat flour, mix to your hearts content.

If you're using regular flour, fold the mixture in gently.

We just want to barely combine everything so there are no dry pockets or wet streaks

but once we're there, stop.

No overmixing.

Otherwise the gluten in the flour will develop and make our muffins heavy or worse, gummy!

This is one place where the gluten-free version is actually easier to do.

Leave that and let's make the filling and toppings.

For the cheesecake-like Starbucks version, combine silken tofu with sugar, cornstarch,

a bit of oil which will add richness, lemon juice, and vanilla extract and blend it super

duper smooth.

I like using an immersion blender for this; I think it does the best job.

For the Timmies cream cheese frosting version, combine two tablespoons of vegan butter, two

tablespoons of vegan cream cheese

and vanilla extract.

And icing sugar.

This is basically the same frosting I use for my gooey cinnamon rolls so it's a little

on the runny side.

To make it stiffer, you can add a bit more icing sugar.

But I'm not.

Just plopping the frosting into a piping bag for later.

For the crumb topping, you'll just mix sugar, regular or oat flour and vegan butter with

a fork until it gets all crumbly.

You can do a brown sugar or white sugar crumb.

It's up to you.

The pumpkin seeds just get a spritz of oil and some icing sugar.

The oil helps the sugar stick in place.

Now we're ready to get everything together.

Without mixing the batter, scoop some with a spoon and into your waiting muffin tray.

Fill the cups all the way up to the top.

You can even over fill them but it can get messy while adding the filling so play it

safe especially if you're going the Starbuck's version rather than the Timmies version.

When those are full, we'll need to make some space for the filling.

Skip this, of course, if you're making the Timmies frosting version since that frosting

goes in after baking.

I've tried using a little spoon for this, scooping out a little from the middle.

Or just using a couple of clean wet fingers to make a hole.

Both are a little clumsy feeling but either way works.

Then scoop some of the creamed silken tofu filling and drop it in.

Be careful not to overfill them.

You will probably have some filling leftover.

Then sprinkle the crumb on top.

And add the sugared pumpkin seeds.

Press them in gently.

Then pop the tray in the hot oven for 8 minutes.

The extra heat in the beginning helps them rise higher and helps with browning the crumb

and crisping the pumpkin seeds.

Afterwards, lower the temperature to 350°F or 175°C and continue baking for 20 more

minutes.

Once you get them out of the oven, let them rest for 5 minutes before popping the muffins

out and on to a cooling rack.

You could eat these right away.

Steaming hot and soft and delicious.

But they are fine the next day, especially if you heat them up for a few seconds in the

microwave.

Anything I can't eat in one day, I stick in the freezer.

That way, I can have a pumpkin spice treat anytime I want one.

If you're making the Tim Horton's style Pumpkin Spice muffins, let the muffins cool completely.

I know, they will smell so good so it's tough to wait.

When they're cool, make some space in the center of the muffin.

You could use a little knife to get some of that center out so there's more space for

frosting.

Or just stick it with a chopstick and wiggle a bit.

Then pipe in that vegan cream cheese frosting.

Two kinds of filling, both delicious.

And the oat flour version is actually just as good!

Yes, it tastes oat-y which is awesome with these spices!

I haven't been successful with gluten-free baking in the past but this one is an absolute

winner!

I can't say I have a favourite though.

Can you?

Speaking of favourites, what kinds of fall treats are you looking forward to this season?

Sweet or savory?

Pumpkin or no pumpkin?

Tell me the flavours you love.

I really want to know.

Thanks so much for watching this video.

I hope you liked it.

Please give it a thumbs up if you did and share it with your pumpkin spice loving friends

on facebook, twitter, reddit or wherever you hang out online.

It would really help me out if you did.

Like you guys did with my Boston Cream Doughnuts video.

I'm so heppy you guys loved it and spread that love.

So encouraging and makes me want to veganize even more delicious treats.

Anyways, don't forget to tag me in your insta photos too.

And again, thanks for watching.

Bye for now!

Julien Guillot.

enologist today in Mâcon-Cruzille.

I'd like to have done many other things in my life but,

in the end, the time and the elegance of certain wines

started to interest me in my family's domain,

where I now work, the Clos des Vignes du Maynes.

This Clos has a very touching story,

because it was created in 910 in the Cluny abbey,

1100 years ago.

And it was cultivated under biological agriculture.

My grandfather decided in 1954 to remove the horses and stop using herbicides.

So, they were the first in charge for the bio in the 50's.

My father then continued in bio as well, in the 70's and 80's,

which wasn't easy because while everyone made a lot of money,

he continued strong in the convictions he has

and that were transmitted to us as well, to my brother, my sister and me.

And today, we work in this hectare in biodynamic since 1998

and we have a lot of fun making these pleasant drinks

and we try to make wines that fit in with the Maconnaise traditions

with the Gamay and Borgnonnaise, com o Pinot Fin,

and we try to make all of this as naturally as possible.

Well, the terroir already has a geological history,

so this geology must be understood.

And I believe here, in Cruzille and to the north of Mâcon

and the south of Bourgogne du Sud,

we're born under an ancient million-years lake,

so we're under a calcareous sedimentation, from the Jurassic period.

We have a depthless soil, so the importance of this soil is vital

and because of that, to work on it we must…

To me, actually, there must be a total brunification of the soil,

that means, the modification of the soil is the organic world

growing over the vegetable, over the mineral.

I'll improve that…

The brunification of the soil is all the organic matter that will conquer that mineral.

And our agricultural techniques must favor all of the soil's microbiological life

so that the vine roots may grow.

And how to work a terroir?

I think the most important thing, at first,

is to have important pivot roots and ramifications, tiny white roots.

In every sideway roots, there must be the maximum amount of ramifications possible,

that's where the biodynamic happens and it is completely genius

because that's when the salts get absorbed.

And when you have these strings ramified and the roots are very large,

that's where the soil's microbiology happens

and these ramifications will, with the microorganisms, recuperate a lot of the fluidity of this geology.

And these microelements, this plant's sap,

which we love, that is the vine, will increase the sap, increase the water

and, when it brings back all of this fluidity, will structure the notes,

and when we have these notes, they are authentic and unique to that place.

And for the wines of Bourgogne, like the wines all around the world,

we can make great wines,

as long as we have authenticity, and sincerity.

That's how we make wines we love, wines that make us emotional,

because when you get to that level of wine,

those are wines that carry emotions, that are vibrant.

The first person to come to mind is Suzanne Michon…

Suzanne Michon passed away a few years ago, which is natural…

to die when you're old. because she was an old lady…

Suzanne Michon created a school, called Baujeu School

and when I was 14 years old,

I met her because I would go with my father to that school

and I was very impressed.

She made a profound mark in my life's story.

And this woman, with her husband Victor, I believe,

created a school with Pierre Rabhi,

Claude Borguignon,

Xavier Florin,

Anin Guillot, my dad, who took care of the legislation

and other people, of course… there are many others.

But these are people that deeply touched me,

people who had an awareness

of ecology and the impact of the capitalist world in which we live in,

on the economy and the impact that has over living beings.

And these are people that deeply touched me and still write to this day

like Claude and Lydia Bourguignon, Pierre Rabhi, about soil microbiology.

We can say the same of Yves Hérody as well.

These people are humanist scientists, and that's fantastic.

Ah… Another person that influenced our family was Stéphane Hessel,

because he was my cousins' grandfather.

Stéphane Hessel was a great French diplomat

and he was also a writer of the universal declaration of human rights in 1948

and he was someone that always lived for peace, for memory and for poetry.

And for the respect of the people…

And when you say people, you talk about humanity,

and this doesn't mean one, it means a diversity of people

and sociologically, this was very important to us in the sense of tolerance…

and in my profession as an enologist as well.

In a terroir, specifically, since this is what we're talking about, it

is necessary to have several individuals and variety to express this terroir

and the more variety we have, the more complex and wine will be,

and the more it will be a party!

This is a permanent dilemma!

I think…

it's a great and terrible question at the same time…

since that's an issue for any enologist!

We always want to be outside, but need to be on the inside.

I mean…

this is a metaphor… But when we take a photograph

there is always this relationship between shadow and light

and us, enologists,

stay in the light when we're in the vineyard and in the shadows when we're in the cellar.

And that's the relationship between the two and us in our tortured feelings

over this exercise, in this demand to follow the vine, to follow the winemaking process,

our constantly tortured feelings over it. It is a permanent distortion of time

for us enologists.

And if there is a good balance?

Well, we try to find it but it depends on each person…

That's a life exercise, it is a total existence.

Maybe a pleasure…

Memory gives us structure.

Memory gives us the notion of time.

It exposes us to our own experiences.

We are pretentious when doing things…

it is necessary to remember our mistakes,

that happens sometimes!

And all of this must be remembered…

Memory is fantastic, and then there is the memory of the work…

the memory…

We make several technical choices, we write things,

and we can have it all as a reference… and that's a kind of memory.

And then…

there's another kind of memory,

flash memory, of completely sudden emotions…

I, for instance, have this memory of a Romanée Saint-Vivant,

I'd never heard anything about it.

I had a transcendental experience,

and memory affects us.

And I tried it, I think it was in 93

if I'm not talking nonsense,

it may have been my first year in biodynamic

and when I tried this wine, I felt a global energy,

not just because of the taste in my mouth, it was through my whole body…

it gave me goosebumps!

And that's crazy! It was a sudden memory and I remember everything!

And these are memories that moves us, let's say,

and these passing memories are fantastic! It resonates,

in memory there is a resonance that and that works…

for us to keep our lives going.

Because life is resonance, life is music.

And it needs to vibrate as much as possible!

All of my people, you know that I got 'em

Poppin' Dom P maybe pour out the bottle

I made 'bout fifty this week but who countin'?

I got Raf Simons that worth 'bout a thousand

Came from a trap that's real deep in the valley

Spend a week in New York spend a week out in Cali

I got my brethren I got my bread up

I fucked three times but then I got all fed up

I wine and dine these occasional model girls

Money is cool but I'd rather go get the world

I used to dream 'bout the shit that I'm doing now

Don't try to relate 'cause you don't understand

I'ma go fucking ham look mama no hands

No hands, no hands

No hands, no hands, no hands, no

All of these trends yeah you know I don't follow

Still smell success, wear my girl's clothes borrow

Fame is some poison, a hard pill to swallow

I'll pop that snap, Grammy nods come tomorrow

Still in this shit, yeah you saw me on TV

I'm still that kid, rock with Kad-E & Stevie

I got my real ones and I got my fake ones

Die for my friends, no replies if you ain't one

I used to fuck with occasional model girls

Money is cool but I'd rather go get the world

I used to dream 'bout the shit that I'm doing now

And you can try to relate but you won't understand

I'ma go fucking ham look mama no hands

No hands, no hands

No hands, no hands, no hands, no

Look mama no hands, look mama no hands, look mama no hands

No hands, no hands

No hands, no hands

No hands, no hands, no hands, no

No hands, no hands, no hands, no
