I'm still sleeping. Hi everybody, it's Lena and welcome to my channel

I'm in Belgium which means that you can speak at least three languages here -

French, German and Dutch.

Although a have a huge crush on the last one,

I really need to learn it at least a little bit before starting practicing it

So, subscribe to my channel, like or share this video and let's go

So, the Dutch language

Sometimes in Russian they also call it Hollandish or Flemish but it's not quite correct

Hollandish is the dialect of the Dutch language used in the provinces North and South Holland

only 2 provinces out of 12

This dialect has definitely made a huge contribution

to the development of the Dutch language

Because in 17 century one of these provinces was the heart of

the economical, political and social life in the Netherlands

The Flemish language is also a dialect of the Dutch language

This is a dialect of the northern part of Belgium

where Dutch is an official language

So, Flemish and Hollandish are not the right terms, although the word 'Flemish' sounds really cool

The the native official name for Dutch is Nederlands and it appeared not so long ago

It had a different name before 15 century

and we can clearly see that from English

in English 'Nederlands' is 'Dutch'

and it was derived from this word and I'm not sure how to pronounce it

In the Old Germanic it means 'people'

The time has passed,

and at some point we got this:

which means 'the language of the people'

simple and nice

A wasp!

By the way, Netherlands and Belgium are not alone to speak Dutch; it's also spoken in Suriname and a bunch of islands in the Caribbean.

The Dutch language as a Germanic language,

which means it's related to the German language.

A lot of words and expressions show it: for instance 'alles goed?'

which means 'what's up?'

or some greetings like 'goedemorgen'

or 'hoedenacht'. I don't know if I pronounce it right

but that's all I can do right now.

But there's also words which are out of this world like 'alsjeblieft'

It means 'please'

but it looks like it was typed by a cat walking on the keyboard.

On the other hand, there are no diacritical marks or accents in the Dutch language

who make us suffer so much when we learn French, for instance

Instead we have a heap of consonants in a row -

Come on, try to pronounce it right!

And it's even more difficult than in German sometimes

because of this almost guttural 'hhh' which blows my mind

and there's a lot of this sound in Dutch

and it's more difficult to pronounce it than Russian 'hhh'

Very flamboyant

The Dutch language is a thief

like any other language, though

Dutch has stolen a lot of words from all the languages it had made contact with

especially from French and Hebrew

These words came from Hebrew, basically they're

street...

street slang words.

And those came from French

au pair, bouillon, bureau, humeur

jus d'orange, pantalon etc.

The moral of the story - learn French, it's everywhere.

And now the coolest part of this video. It's about the inappropriately long words of the Dutch language

There's a diversity of them here

Dutch can stick words together as easily as German does it

You just take two words, put them together as if they were just one word and you get a brand new one

And Dutch uses this mechanism far too much

Here are some of these words. I won't try to read them

'cause I won't handle it and it's still very early in the morning for me even to try

The first word has 38 letters,

the second has 41 and the last one - 53 letters

It goes without saying that those words don't come from everyday normal people conversations

and people don't speak like that in real life

Those are bureaucracy words used by robot-people

Come on, come on, come ooon!

For comparison: this is the longest English word and there's only 28 letters

And the longest French word has only 25 letters

By the way, there's 67 letters word in German

Here we are.

I won't even think about memorizing this one 'cause, really, guys, it's crazy

Just like the French language, Dutch has a regulatory institution

that controls the purity of the Dutch orthography

It controls and standardize the language, especially the spelling part

As for definitions and meanings - it's Fat van Dale's area

This is local Ozhegov*. (*Russian defining dictionary)

It is interesting that Dutch has only two genders

but they're not feminine and masculine, but neuter and common

The masculine and the feminine flew together but not completely

Maybe, this is one of the reasons why linguists say that

it's an easy language for English people to learn

and vice versa, as a rule, Dutch people speak English very well

Perhaps, because English and Dutch have a lot in common

but also because Dutch people are very conscientious people

There are only 2 cases in Dutch and that's kinda nice

They're both simple and logical:

Nominative is the most simple thing on Earths and the second one is possessive

This is the one that shows that something belongs to someone

For instance, палто брата (Russian), le manteau de mon frère (french),

my brother's coat

Once again, just like in English

Conclusion: Lena wants to learn Dutch. But a little bit later

Melnor XT Turbo Oscillating Sprinkler Review | Gardening Products Review - Duration: 5:49.

This is a review of the Melnor

Turbo Oscillating sprinkler

So this is a fairly basic sprinkler if you don't need a lot of bells and whistles,

This is what you might be looking at. It is all metal. Other than this

this part here where the motor is that's

plastic on the outside

So I'm going to share with you some of the features of this some of the things

I like some of the things that maybe I could see improving and

Then you can make the decision as to whether this is the right sprinkler for you

So let's start at this end I'll describe all the features ending at the other end

So this is the connector where you couple it up to the hose, it has a rubber

Gasket washer in there and a sieve that is to prevent any sort of grit, sand, dirt

Whatever from getting in and clogging up the nozzles. One thing I really like is that this is metal

So it's not going to get stripped very easily and it has these really nice big

Knobs sticking out here, which make it really easy to attach it to a hose if you're like me

I have arthritis in my thumbs. It's hard to connect things. This makes it a lot easier

Next we move along to this adjuster here. And this is for adjusting the length of

The spray pattern you cannot adjust the width on this one just the length

Very very simple. You just move the lever. This would move it all the way over to this side

This would move it all the way over to that side

This would make it wide both directions. And this would keep it narrow up in the middle. So real intuitive and easy to use

Moving along here. This is a metal bar and you've got metal nozzles all evenly spaced

They work very well and what you have at the other end here

Is you can remove this and you can see there's a little like a needle on the end and that

Is to unclog those nozzles if they get clogged up

so you would simply poke it in there and

unclog things. Don't lose this; if you lose this water is just going to pour right out the end of your

Sprinkler and it's not going to work any more

This sprinkler like other oscillating sprinklers covers a rectangular or square shape and it's typically used for something like a lawn

It's supposed to cover about 3,900 square feet and that would be at a normal psi 50 to 60

Which you would see in a residential area?

We're operating on well water. It's a little lower than that

We're at just under 30 psi, and we were able to get it to cover

About 2,400 square feet. So an area about 40 by 60

One thing that we found with this is that we were measuring the water output at 5

10 15 and 25 feet away from the sprinkler and we found at 5 feet away

We really didn't record any water now

There must have been water there, but we didn't record anything. Most of the water seemed to fall at the periphery

So at about 25 feet out from the sprinkler. We got a lot more water there

So that's just something to be aware of the other thing with oscillating sprinklers -and this applies to all of them - is that the

More water that comes through the higher the flow or the higher the pressure the higher the water goes up into the air

Which means it's more likely to get blown away by wind or to evaporate before it hits the ground

So although you can put a lot of water out with these that doesn't mean necessarily

That you're going to get a lot of water hitting the ground

So always be sure that you know

You're getting especially for a lawn your one inch of water and run this thing as long as it takes to get that 1 inch

Now there was a couple of things on this that you might want and that are missing here. One of course is the ability to

Adjust the width of this there is no such thing. It is what it is

The other thing on this that it doesn't have is some sort of flow control

To control how much water is coming through and that would affect the height of the water

coming out of the nozzles

So you have to do that at the spigot by putting more or less water through it

There's also no on/off switch on this. So if you want to move it

Or adjust it. You're gonna have to either get wet or turn the water off at the spigot. Come back

Move it go turn the water back on again. So that would have been a nice feature to add

Overall, it's a very nice basic

lightweight

Oscillating sprinkler. It's made out of metal. It should probably last quite a while. It's easy to adjust

It's easy to connect and I like the fact that the metal nozzles can be

Cleaned out with that

"nozzle cleaner thing," to use the technical term
