Japanese National Championships 2013 will begin tonight

This year, it is a special competition that happens once every 4 years

The atmosphere is tensing up more than ever

And beyond that smile, they know that they're reaching for the stage of their dreams

that are in close to their heart and support their skating career

In the men' short program this evening

Hanyu, who delivered a brilliant performance earning a world-record score at the GPF,

will open the curtain for the Olympics skaters selection

The fated encounter that helped leading the 19-year-old to this day, with someone that nobody knows of.

There is one man living in Sendai who can touch 'the life' of skater Hanyu

(He's been sharpening Hanyu's skates for 6 years) His name is Toshinobu Yoshida

He's been taking care of Hanyu's skates and sharpening their blades for a long time since Hanyu was in middle school

Even after moving to Canada last year, Hanyu still sends his skates to Yoshida's shop every few weeks

(Yoshida) says that he can understand Hanyu's current condition just by looking at the scratches on his skates

- That's right, I can somewhat understand how much he's been skating this month or what he is working on

- When there are a lot of scratches then I know that he probably has been falling a lot or the success rate of his jumps is low

- I can read out things like that

Hanyu was making final adjustments at the rink in his hometown Sendai before competing at Nationals

The two of them assign numbers to each pair of skates and use them alternately to get through the long season

They have a 20-year age gap but both of them are always serious when it's about skates

What happened to the 16-year-old Yuzuru Hanyu back then?

There was an incident that only Yoshida knows about

Yuzuru Hanyu, Japanese National Champion last year

and Toshinobu Yoshida, who has been taking care of his skates for 6 years

There's something in the past that neither of them can erase from their minds

March 11th, 2011

Hanyu's homerink in Sendai shut down due to the great earthquake that happened in East Japan

Yoshida's shop also sustained a big damage and couldn't be open for business

They lost contact of each other

In need of a rink to skate, Hanyu toured with ice shows all over Japan.

Leaving his friends and family in Sendai

In half a year, he appeared in about 60 shows

Yoshida recalled how Hanyu only returned (to Sendai) once in a while in order to make up for the break

- He usually brought his skates to have them fixed as soon as the blades got just a few more scratches

- I don't think it bothered him or he couldn't jump, do the steps because of it

- However, he probably just wanted to keep them clean

- and keep them in perfect condition at all times.

What was the 16-year-old boy thinking while looking at those scratches?

- I think that was a season in which I really valued things like "feelings" and "emotions"

- At that time, I really put all of my feelings into the performances

- Then I also gradually gained more experiences, failures and successes,

- Well, now that I come to think of it, it started with my displeasure that "Ah this is not good"

- and then there were more and more times that I felt "This is definitely the starting point", "This is the start of my good performances"

- When I think about it now, that was probably when I started to take control such things.

The boy who had to suffer due to natural disaster

He fought by earnestly putting into his performances the sorrow and the distress that he had never felt until then

He had no choice but to train jumping quads at the poor (temporary) rinks of those 60 shows

The proof of those hardships still remains on the skates he wore back then

- There was one time he brought his skates to me and said that they made a lot of noise, like horse clopping

- He let me play with them in my garage, and I realized that this part was coming off (from the base of the skates)

- because the impact (of the jumps) was too strong

To stop this, he drilled a hole

Yoshida fixed this by using spring pins, a special screw in Hanyu's request

But why didn't he use normal screws?

- But look, doesn't the design look cool?

- He probably wanted to keep it this way

In March 2012, one year after the disaster

Yuzuru Hanyu won a bronze medal at his first World Championships

He won against the gigantic force that tore him away from his homerink a year ago

- Whenever I'm with him, I feel a hunch that he can win

- Even now, although he's far away, I think I can still feel that aura

Now, similar to the children coming to Yoshida's shop

The boy who likes talking about skating only looked ahead and has flown out to the world

In just 3 years, that boy became so strong and unbeatable that hardly anyone can recognize.

But may be Yoshida is the only one who knew that this day would come.

[some more cuts from other shows about Yoshida] Hanyu trusts Yoshida so much that he sends him his skates all the way

from his training base in Canada once a month

- From the wear and tear of the edges, I can more or less understand what he is training on

- and which jump he's putting all of his efforts into at the moment

- It's not that he wants to sharpen the edges that have become dull after a lot of skating

- but that he really wants to be able to ride on those sharp edges that haven't become dull

- they aren't shaved off that much, only a few micron

Which point does Yoshida examine when he sharpens the blades?

- I examine the sounds they make on the ice and how the shaved ice flies from the blades

- It's very intuitive, so when people ask me what the differences are, it's hard (to explain)...

- perhaps I am the only one who knows those things, I'm not sure.

The small differences in the blades that only Yoshida can detect

- He's been helping me with the skates since I was small, and he also know my preferences

- I feel that he creates the edges that suit me

- I think we have that kind of trusting relationship

Disney-Pixar's NEWEST Filipino Animation for 2019! - Duration: 3:01.

Hey guys, it's Frank here!

I thought I'd welcome the new year with a brand new video!

2019 is off to a great start because this year, Disney-Pixar Studios will be introducing

it's first ever Filipino CGI characters in the new animated short called "Float."

Over the past few years, Disney-Pixar has strived for more representation in both their

feature and short films.

With the creation of Pixar SparkShorts, a new experimental storytelling initiative,

we'll get even more creative voices at Pixar Animation Studios to share their unique stories.

The result looks like some incredible, diverse storytelling.

For Filipino-American writer and director Bobby Rubio, who also serves as an animator

at Pixar, SparkShorts provides a chance for him to share his culture with a wide audience.

Rubio sees this as a way for him to tell his story and is the creative mastermind behind

"Float."

Rubio has worked on numerous Pixar projects, including serving as story artist for Incredibles

2, Inside Out, and Monsters University.

With this new opportunity, he's telling a story that will feature Pixar's first all-CGI

Filipino characters.

The synopsis of the animation reads:

"A father discovers that his son floats, which makes him different from other kids.

"To keep them both safe from the judgement of the world, Dad hides, covers, and grounds

him.

"But when his son's ability becomes public, Dad must decide whether to run and hide or

to accept his son as he is."

I'm loving the unique appearances of the characters in the short film too.

The dad has tanned skin, large expressive eyes, a very prominent Filipino nose, and

definitely epitomizes the traits of a Filipino father.

The fact that he is depicted as a very protective dad who tries to keep his son grounded - literally

- is so Filipino and it really shows that Rubio is tying in his own culture in his work.

Additionally, the baby is giving me those "gigil" vibes.

The Chinito eyes and the very thick, bushy head of hair is very reminiscent of many Filipino

babies.

I love how Disney-Pixar is incorporating Filipino characters, and it won't be long before

we see a Filipina Disney princess which I made a video about in case you guys are interested.

Although this is just an animated short, it does open up many new doors and opportunities

for Filipinos to finally be represented in cartoons and the media.

An hour after the final whistle and Jurgen Klopp was in a small room, trying to make sense of it all, when he was asked one last question

Suddenly, Liverpool's manager started celebrating again. It wasn't with the gusto that he greeted the end of a helter-skelter match but, briefly, here he was with a smile plastered all over his face as he punched the air in delight

The reason for the impromptu reaction soon became apparent. In a game of so many incidents, it was the perfectly-timed tackle from young substitute Rafa Camacho to thwart Wilfried Zaha that so enthused Klopp

Seasons last for nine months but they can be defined in split seconds. 'I told him immediately after the game that he had already made the most important challenge of his life,' said Klopp

'I'm not sure he really got it — he looked at me like: "What is he talking about?" but it was really massive

'To give the situation context, Camacho had been hurried on in the final minute following James Milner's red card

The 18-year-old Portuguese, a product of Liverpool's Academy, had never kicked a ball in the Premier League before and, in a high-pressure finale, he found Zaha bearing down on him

As Zaha danced from side to side in that mesmeric way of his, everyone in the stadium knew the fractional mistiming of a tackle would mean a penalty to Crystal Palace and, in all probability, a 4-4 draw; but Camacho never flinched, his challenge was clean and the ball — and the match — was won

The incident needed to be emphasised and Klopp's reaction explained its importance

Liverpool might have had two months of being brilliant but it would be disingenuous to suggest this latest 4-3 triumph was a product of cavalier, breathless football

There were, of course, some wonderful snapshots. The way Sadio Mane scored what proved to be the defining goal to lift the roof was glorious, while the dinked volley from Mohamed Salah to make it 1-1 was the act of a man at the top of his game

Salah now has 50 goals in 72 Premier League appearances but he spoilt his afternoon by the ridiculous way he dropped to the floor in the first half as Mamadou Sakho shadowed him; he has won legitimate penalties over the last month but this was stupid

It was a dive, plain and simple.Was it an act of desperation? Who knows. What can be said with certainty, though, was that Liverpool frequently found it hard going in the opening 45 minutes

Palace, well organised and resilient, caused more problems than any side visiting Anfield this season

'I'm very proud of my team's performance,' said Roy Hodgson with some justification

'I thought it was excellent, defensively and offensively. The work rate and our tactical discipline was second to none

On another occasion, I'd have been the same as I was after we won at Manchester City

' Yet, somehow, Liverpool found a way to win. The atmosphere was flat in the first half and it bordered on tetchy as Liverpool went in at the break trailing to Andros Townsend's thumping finish; the collective response to adversity was going to define the remainder of the campaign

Liverpool will not become champions by simply blitzing teams from now until spring

They are a club that cannot do things the easy way and if they are to get over the line first, there are going to have to be many more snapshots like that of Camacho

It was a point with which Klopp concurred. Skill and flamboyance won't be enough to keep Manchester City's relentless pursuit at bay, it will be moments when those on the fringes step forward to do something remarkable, like Camacho or Divock Origi's winner against Everton

'I know we are a really good football team but that is not enough,' said Klopp. 'It is really not enough to be a good or a fantastic or even a world-class football team because we are playing in a competition with a couple of world-class football teams and hundreds of fantastic football teams

'We have to make sure that we just fight in each game like it's the last game and the boys do that

I'm completely fine with 4-3. I don't know how many ways there are to win a football game but we had pretty much a few of them already

'Chances are they are going to need a few more. You can be certain, though, they are ready for what is coming

GLASS (2019) - One Minute Movie Review - Duration: 1:26.

glass is the third movie in the unbreakable trilogy and is written

produced and directed by M night Shyamalan this superhero thriller is set

following the events of 2016 split which is the official sequel to 2000's hit

unbreakable now I'm breakable is one of my all-time favorite movies so this

movie was one of my most anticipated films of the year but at the same time

director M night Shyamalan hasn't delivered the same caliber of films

lately so I wasn't sure what to expect but you

know what for the most part I was pretty happy with how this movie turned out

it's great to see Bruce Willis and Samuel Jackson together again but I have

to give it up for James McAvoy for his incredible performance the Duke

absolutely steals the show playing more than double the number of personalities

in this movie than he played and split but there will be does have its share of

problems some of the relationships between characters don't make much sense

the dialogue is pretty muddy at times and I thought the ending was a little

anticlimactic but overall glass is a satisfying conclusion to a pretty great

trilogy is it shine Milan's best no but I think it's perfectly in line with

unbreakable and split yes I wanted a little bit more from the ending but the

movie delivers a lot more than you would expect in true Shyamalan fashion and

that's why I give Glass a FOUR!
