Welcome back guardians.
Today I wanted to talk about Sunsingers, I was really interested in knowing how Sunsingers
revive themselves, how do they bring themselves back without a ghost.
Whilst there is no concrete answer to this I wanted to put all of the Sunsinger lore
from the subclass quest line together to see if it contains any clues.
Whilst researching this video, I also found out some very interesting things about Toland
and Osiris.
These subclass videos are challenging to write because often the dialogue of the subclass
quests are not included in the databases, the dialogue in your progress menu is often
in the databases, but when you complete each step and speak to your corresponding vanguard,
what the Vanguard says is often not documented anywhere.

{INTRO} Let's begin.
Why can Warlock Sunsingers self-revive?
Warlocks in general have a very different connection with the Light in comparison to
Titans and Hunters.
Warlocks seem to discover their abilities by surrounding themselves by a source of the
Light, for example, to unlock the Stormcaller subclass, you literally walk into an Arc Storm,
the Void Walker questline speaks about you walking the void and gazing into the abyss,
the vacuum between stars, and although we do not see this in game, it is implied that
we need to witness the Void, surround ourselves by the Void, to become a true Voidwalker.
Similarly, to become a Sunsinger you must stand in the light of Sol, Ikora Rey says
this during the Path of the Sunsinger quest, "You have done very well.
Still, I sense greatness along the path before you.
Only by standing in the full light of Sol will you find what it means to be a Sunsinger."
With each Warlock subclass, they surround themselves with these sources of light, and
then they appear to use mediation, a trance like state that allows Warlocks to channel
this energy.
They become a conduit.
This is reinforced by the Stormcaller grimoire card which reads,
" Meditate.
Focus.
Draw the static from within.
The Arc is inside all life.
You must feel it take hold, let it flow through, but not consume you.
You are a conduit.
Between sky and earth.
Electricity and matter.
Life and death.
You are a weapon" It is also reinforced by the Path of the Sunsinger
quest which reads, "As the Cabal rushed the line, the Warlock
raised his hand to the sky.
The sky came down to meet him, and we felt the Light touch our hearts."
– Toland's Journal.
And this from A Song for the Sun quest line, it reads,
"A Sunsinger's palm strike?
It's a prime example of absolute power born from minimal force.
The Light does the Work – Ikora Rey" Whilst I think that all 3 Warlock subclasses
have a common theme with surrounding themselves by these different sources of Light and channeling
this immense power, the Sunsinger does appear to have a major difference.
You may have noticed that the Stormcaller card says do not let it consume you, whereas
the Sunsinger cards says quite the opposite.
It reads, "The Light saved us from death and forged
us into weapons.
We seek to understand it, to embrace it, to consume and be consumed by it.
We hope to become radiant."
This makes it sound like not just channeling the light, not just being a conduit, but becoming
the light, being consumed by it.
This is going to upset a lot of people but the more a read about the Sunsinger the more
I think it is likely that this is the most elevated form of Light manipulation, I am
sorry, that is just my opinion.
And so I think that when a Warlock activates Radiance they are extremely well connected
to the light and are probably more Light than Warlock.
Have a listen to the Radiance card, Open yourself to the Light.
Glimpse, for a few rapturous moments, the truth beyond the powers you wield.
A Warlock in a state of Radiance threatens to slip beyond the bonds of the material,
shrugging off physical harm, channeling a torrent of abilities.
Some may learn to elevate nearby Guardians, gifting them with power.
As you can see, the card says the truth beyond the powers you wield and how you threaten
to slip beyond the bonds of material, it implies that you have become something more for that
moment in time, you have been elevated.
You have so much light that you can even empower the surrounding Guardians, in fact it even
says this in the quest line A Song for the Sun, it reads,
"A Sunsinger basking in the wake of Radiance has Light enough for his enemies, their friends,
and the friends of their friends- Ikora Rey" This idea of being elevated, not just channeling
the light but being consumed by it is further reinforced by the appearance of your ability,
you sprout flame wings and one of your abilities is called "Angel of Light".
It is like you have ascended.
The Radiance grimoire card also compares the Sunsingers to the mythical bird, the Phoenix.
The card reads, "Others, entranced by the Ghosts' power
to reach beyond death, may learn to pluck themselves out of nothingness like the phoenix
of ancient myth."
The interesting phrase in this grimoire card is "entranced by the Ghosts' power",
does that mean that we are still channeling the Ghosts power or does that mean we are
simply inspired by our Ghosts ability to revive.
Either way, I think that the Sunsinger ability to self-revive stems from this profound connection
to the Light, this idea that they do not just channel it but are consumed by it, they ascend
so to speak, and at this point I think you could speculate that is how Warlocks can revive
without the assistance of a Ghost.
They do not need their ghost to act as the conduit to channel light to revive them.
This direct connection with the Sun, with this source of Light, allows you to restore
life.
A song for the Sun reads, "As a Sunsinger, you are a child of the
sun, gifted with the ability to restore and take life."- Ikora Rey.
I apologies to all the Hunters and Titans out there who are really hoping that your
Warlock friends does not watch this because you will never hear the end of it…BUT I
still have more to add about the elite Sunsinger class.
Similar to how there are very few Nightstalkers, becoming a Sunsinger is apparently not so
easy.
Throughout the quest line for the Sunsinger it refers to how only a few can communicate
with the Sun and even fewer can harness this power.
Ikora rey says, "The song to the sun is one only a few can
hear.
It's one only a few can voice.
And it's one even fewer can survive."
—Ikora Rey" During Path of the Sunsinger Ikora Rey also
says, "To hear the Sun's song is one thing.
To sing with the fire of Sol in your heart is quite another.
You have my respect Guardian."
On completing the quest you get given the Sunsinger's bond which further reinforces
that not everyone can be a Sunsinger, it reads, "Any scholar can understand the theory,
but only those who hear the music can make Light sing."
As you can see, there seems to be two things that are required to be a Sunsinger, firstly
you have to be able to hear the song and secondly you have to be able to sing the song.
I assume this is mostly a metaphor for being able to truly connect with the Light.
The thing that separates guardians who could be Sunsingers and those who cannot might be
this meditation state or trance like state that is required.
Ikora Rey talks about an alignment of the head, heart and soul to be a Sunsinger.
She says this during the Path of the Sunsinger quest,
"The Sunsinger's song is one felt in the head, the heart and the soul.
When it falls upon your allies, your wings are their wings.
Your light, their Light."
So, Sunsinger's are pretty rare, and have uncanny ability to connect with the Light,
so it should come as no surprise that Toland was also a Sunsinger, yes, I think he was
both a Sunsinger and Voidwalker.
Have a listen to the Path of the Sunsinger quest line, it reads,
"I have left searing footprints on the dark side of the Moon.
I have stood on the spires of Mecury, chilled by the solar wind.
I have stretched my wings, and I have flown.
That is what is possible when you understand the Sun's song"- Toland's Journal.
Other notable Sunsingers include Eriana-3 from Eris Morn's fire team, Lady Skorri
from the Iron Lords and Ladies and I believe Osiris.
Have a listen to the Ghost Fragment: The Queen 2 grimoire card which is suspected to document
Eris Morn and Osiris speaking with the Queen of the Reef, it reads,
"Your Grace," said the man before her at the foot of the stairs.
His voice was soft but strong.
When he spoke the Hunter started to turn her head toward him, then flinched as if someone
had shone a bright light into her eyes.
As Eris looks at Osiris (and yes Eris is a hunter, confirmed by Luke Smith) she flinches
as if Blinded… why was she blinded, it was as if Osiris was in a constant state of radiance,
emitting a blinding light.
Remember that Brother Vance talks about becoming more than a Guardian, some ascended state.
The truth is Guardians, Sunsingers stand on the precipice of life and death, Light and
Darkness, they seek the truth beyond That concludes this latest Destiny Lore episode,
