TED en Español - TEDxRíodelaPlataLive2017 - Duration: 5:54.

We are here at CCK with "Detrás de las Ideas"

because something historic will happen.

Very shortly, from here,

we'll watch the live stream directly from Vancouver.

This is the first time in its history

that TED will feature an entire session in a different language.

TED en Español is about to happen.

Gerry Garbulsky is in Vancouver

and TEDxRíodelaPlata and "Detrás de las Ideas"

are ready to accompany them and share this moment with you.

Gonzalo Vilariño is here with us today.

He was a speaker in previous editions of TEDxRíodelaPlata

and one of those who accompanies us during the TED en Español live stream.

- So Gonzalo, why are you here?

- Firstly, to support Gerry

because I know that what's happening is very important to him,

and the truth is that I will always be thankful to him

and all the people at TED who believed in my talk.

That's why I have to be here when this type of event is organized.

- Is there any lack of motivation?

- I think it's rather the opposite.

Valeria Bosio, another TEDxRíodelaPlata speaker,

is also here to watch the TED en Español live stream.

- How did you get here, and what are you expectations?

- The truth is I believe this takes TED Talks to a totally new level.

I love being here and able to enjoy it with all of you.

I think this will set a precedent.

This first-ever TED en Español will be a turning point.

I believe that will foster new ideas and a lot of curiosity

in the rest of the world.

It will really add that multicultural dimension to all TED events.

- Thank you very much.

Let's watch together TED en Español.

(Applause)

(English) This is a historic moment.

For the very first time at TED,

we are having a session

in a different language.

(Applause)

(Spanish) Welcome to TED en Español!

(Applause)

It wasn't unusual to see my Jewish grandfather dressed as Santa Claus.

It comes from Africa.

They were coming closer.

They were accelerating to the point of starting spinning --

With "Detrás de las Ideas,"

we are featuring the first-ever full TED session in Spanish.

It makes us feel not alone on this famous TED red carpet.

I'd like to tell you something that I've just been told

about the amount of people who watched us online so far.

600,000 people have been watching this so far.

(Applause)

I knew the Colombian Army was using ...

This is my favorite place on Earth ...

...and a great opportunity to be redeemed before Dionisio.

Thanks everybody for coming.

See you all at the next edition of TED en Español! Thank you!

(Applause)

Here with us, in "Detrás de las Ideas,"

Santiago Bilinkis, core organizing team member in TEDxRíodelaPlata.

Our question for you is what does it mean for the TED community

this live session we are witnessing today?

The truth is what we clearly saw today - and most of it is Gerry's merit -

is more than a mere change in the language the talks were delivered.

I think that TED once-too-stiff approach linked to the English-speaking world

is changing, in this session, with these six talks,

in lieu of a more casual approach,

much beyond the value of the talks themselves being in Spanish.

Hats off to Gerry and thanks to his courage

as he put much of this spirit into this first-ever session in Spanish.

He even ended up introducing a speaker wearing a thank-you kiss on his cheek,

a serendipitous detail that wrapped it up perfectly.

I truly enjoyed all these six TED Talks in Spanish.

I find the change in language really meaningful,

but more importantly,

the presence of our Latin culture with its very distinctive flavor.

It seems to me acknowledging the public itself

that needs to watch talks in Spanish and access them, as well.

The talks were awesome.

I think this is only the beginning of something that will keep on growing.

It was something akin to a small party, intimate but global at the same time,

because we were there, but there was also people we knew

that joined the live stream from other parts of the world;

we've seen on Facebook Live

that friends of ours, acquaintances, people we work with

were also streaming the TED en Español live feed.

There were 600,000 who watched this.

It was like a small, intimate party who took place in the whole world.

After watching these six talks, what else is left to say about them?

Well, there are a lot of ideas out there, for us to think about,

talk about, and share among us.

This was our ultimate goal.

As well as being present here and bring these ideas to you all

in this historic moment:

The first six TED Talks in Spanish,

with "Detrás de las Ideas," and together with TEDxRíodelaPlata

we are now sharing them with you.

Keep on watching "Detrás de las Ideas"

for updates on what's happening all year long at TEDxRíodelaPlata.

CoD 2 Spanish Civil War ► Act VI - Mission 17: "The first anniversary of war" - Duration: 20:48.

The Battle of Guadalajara supposes the definitive stop to the glorious aspirations of the Italian army on Spanish soil.

The fascist troops sent by Mussolini undertake a disorderly retreat after the Republican hits,

suffering more than 6,000 casualties and leaving a lot of war material and prisoners behind.

Ending the month of March, the Nationalist side changes its strategy.

After the failures at taking Madrid, taking the north of Spain is established as a primary objective.

The so-called War of the North supposes taking Bilbao, Santander and Asturias.

The Nationalists concentrate in Vitoria the bulk of their air force, composed mainly of German and Italian planes,

and start an overwhelming offensive over Bilbao.

There are bombings on cities like Durango and Ochandiano, or the disastrous bombing by the Legion Condor on Guernica.

In barely more than 2 months, the famous Bilbao Iron Belt, formed by reinforced concrete fortifications,

falls under Nationalist supremacy.

The death of General Mola in a plane crash turns General Franco into the national leader of the only party

after the Unification Decree of falangists, carlists and JONS, and the biggest authority on the Nationalist side.

But Franco sees in danger immediately the hegemony of his troops.

The Republican army carries out a flashing offensive and takes by surprise the Francoist detail in Brunete, near Madrid,

taking the city and breaking through the rebel frontlines.

Brunete, July 18, 1937

The Nationalists' position in Brunete is especially hard - the speed of the Republican attack has destroyed the leftovers from the 71st Francoist Division.

The Nationalist high command has ordered ground and air reinforcements to help the besieged troops in the area.

"The first anniversary of war"

Brunete July 18, 1937

Sir, General Franco's troops are coming.

We meet again, German...

The Desert Ghost! Ha! You're lucky to find me again, dark one!

Stop with the bragging. We have to chase those who are fleeing. I won't leave anyone alive...

Soldiers! We have to take Brunete and kill all that communist scum!

Sir, scouts have spotted a prisoner camp further north.

I understand. They'll be really helpful for killing my enemies... Onwards, let's rescue them!

I'm so glad to see you! We've been imprisoned for months, it's been hell!

I've been in hell... And I've come back to take revenge.

No time to lose. Take some weapons and join us!

Don't forget that thanks to the German strength and discipline, we are closer and closer to final victory!

Let's hope so... They will know what suffering means...

"I wish it were my last Spanish blood that poured into civil strife. I wish the Spanish people lived in peace, so rich in good qualities endearing, the Motherland, the Bread, and Justice." - José Antonio Primo de Rivera

I'VE BEEN LYING TO YOU | Storytime [FIN/ENG Subs] - Duration: 3:18.

So guys today I've got a bit of a confession to make.

I have been lying to you.

And actually I've been lying to most of the people that I've met over the last like...

Oh my god.

14 years?

Is that right?

About that, oh my god.

So yeah, technically I've been lying to you because Dave Cad isn't my real name.

Or at least it isn't my full name.

With Cat and I getting married a lot of people in the comments were saying "Oh my god Cat,

you're going to become Cat Cad" or "Do you realise that you're going to become Cat Cad

now" And it became a bit of a thing at the Cat and Cad household.

I hope you guys are happy with yourselves.

I wanted to set the record straight so that people know that she won't be "Cat Cad".

That's if she even decides if she wants to take my name.

This is a big moment actually!

So guys, my full name is David Cadwallader.

Or if you're Finnish

Taaveti Catvallandar.

Sorry I couldn't resist.

But guys, before you go judging me being all like "Dave, I can't believe you've lied to

us all this time" Let me just tell you something.

I've been saying that my name is Dave Cad for about 14 or 15 years now.

So don't feel bad because I've probably technically lied to thousands of people outside of the internet

So this goes back 14 or 15 years, before YouTube before any of it.

And I guess it all started when I started secondary school.

I kind of realised pretty soon on that people couldn't say my name.

This is going to sound strange to Finnish people and Swedish people because like, every

other person has a name with like 50 letters in it.

Nine A's and six X's.

But people here in England aren't used to long names or strange names.

People prefer a Mr. Smith or a Mrs Jones.

Anything over 2 syllables is a bit of a struggle.

Man, I'm lucky hardly any British people watch my videos because they'd probably be a bit

pissed off at this point.

I started secondary school as David Cadwallader and pretty soon after that I realised that

people can't say my name.

Even teachers would start calling me 'Caddy'.

C-A-D-D-Y.

And soon after that people started just dropping the D and the Y off and it became 'Cad'.

So most of my school years I literally had a three letter name.

No first name, no rest of the name.

Just 'Cad'.

One name.

Like 'Seal' or McLovin.

I kinda got used to it and I kinda liked it to be honest.

As I grew up and I had to start making bookings and call people up...

There's nothing worse than saying your full name on the phone and they go.

"Can you spell that for me?"

For the 900th time this month - C, A...

Pretty much for the last 14 or 15 years I have been Dave Cad to everybody that I've met

So I guess when I made my YouTube channel, I really didn't think about it.

That's my name as far as I'm concerned.

And honestly, until now I sometimes forget my 'full name'.

The only time I have to remember it is like when I'm signing government documents and

stuff like that.

I guess that's the story of my name.

That's why Cat won't be 'Cat Cad' if she decides to take my name.

Just wanted to come clean about that but I'm still Dave Cad and always will be!

Alright, that's enough confession for one day I think.

Guys, thank you so much for watching this video, I hope you have enjoyed it - a little

storytime I guess.

If you've enjoyed this and maybe want to see more let me know in the comments or give it

a thumbs up.

That would be cool.

Guys, again, thanks so much for watching and I'll see you next time.

See ya!

I've been craving for Jjajangmyun so bad.. - Duration: 28:54.

Hi, Guys. Today, I got Chinese foods! From here, Nanju Wance(Stir-fried Meatballs and Vegetables), Chilly Shrimp, Ryusanseul

and here Nurungji Tang(Scorched Rice soup) and 3 portions of Jjajangmyeon. The other day, I saw a comment saying, 'Can you eat Nurungji Tang in a while?' so I got it today.

and I thought, for Jjajangmyun, 2 portions would be not enough so I got 3

Nanja Wance is very similar with Hamburg Steak or Korean TteokGalbi, Which means it's made with ground meat. Anyway~ Bon Appetit!

Ah, it's been a while doing live show on Youtube. Thanks for visiting!

I had stayed in Seoul for a week because of work~ I turn on the camera to let you know I'm alive lol

'You'll be gonna eat the Jjjangmyun alone, so you just can say it's 1 portion' You know All those are 1 portion lol

Ryusanseul is like.. just Soy sauce taste? or something like that

or black pepper

I got craving for Jjajangmyun.. Since last Tuesday in Seoul, I've never had this.

Bon Appetit~

The Monster Jjajang? I had it last week. or.. 2 weeks ago?

ah, and now I can't do everyday live show, but I'll do my best to make better videos! It's been 10? or 15 days?

Ryusanseul is not Crab meat but it depends. The ingredients are usually shred.

Ryu means 'Flowing' in Chinese and San means 3, which means more than 3 ingredients

Enokitake, Green onion, Pork, Sea Cucumber and shrimp are in it.

'Is it Buchimgae or congee?' RyuSanSeul!

Let me move those here..

and I got Nurungji tang in a while. Usually, the Nurungji is delivered separately. But here, they put it into the soup from the first. so it's very soggy now

and also starch makes it thick so you need to be careful

'Isn't it called YuSanSeul?' Well. It depends actually But this restaurant calls it Ryusanseul so I got it too.

And see this~

Ha~ Nanja Wance

Of course, all restaurants have different recipes.

Nurungjitang soup is almost same with Ulmyeon but they spread some pepper powder~

and Chilly shrimp~

This is one of the smallest shrimp, like Cocktail shrimp. The upper cloth is sold in Normal core!

Let me put some pepper powder here

Honestly I'm very tired now but, I wanted to let you know I'm alive and I'm so happy everytime I'm welcome by you Guys~

Pepper powdered Jjajangmyeon.

I put too much...

This nanja wance meat is made with wheat powder so it's a bit tight (He got confused to say Ryusanseul~)

Nanja Wance is just like Tteokgalbi or.. just.. flat wanja(Korean meat ball)

'Spreading black pepper on chilly shrimp will make it better!' Oh? Seriously? I like black pepper so I'll do it!

I think.. too much again..

Then,, I'll stir it a lot ~ I like the scent

I'll sleep after this live show so.. prob.. 6~7am?

I can taste the black pepper and the chilly shrimp originally has strong sweetness.

so the black pepper catches down the sweetness

So If you think it's a bit oily, the black pepper will do the trick.

It's been a while my managers! Nice to meet you again!

It depends on the restaurant but the Tteok(rice cake) in jjajangmyun is..

GREAT~

The Tteok is perfect with everything~

'Could you eat nanja wance with chilly shrimp and ryusanseul on it?'

You just reminded me of a song about putting a patty on meat.. On a Nanja Wance, let me put Chilly shrimp and..

ryusanseul~

Yummy~

I can't say it tastes like something but it's good tho

The nurungji tang also includes lotta sea foods~ like short arm octopus or..

squid, and sea cucumber~

and also shrimp! Simply it's just very thick sea food soup with starch. 'Are you hungry?'

oh yeah.. I need to spread some more black pepper~

When I eat some noodle food, I usually do a lot of black pepper~ This one needs it more too

'Banzz! Can you drink coke?' Ah before that, let me have this, 'Matsineun HanKki Goguma' (Sweet potato drink for a meal)

Is it meant to be enough for a meal? 'You looked exhausted but now look so good after eating' Yes~ That's why I should keep doing Mukbang! It's REAL MY THING

Wow,, It does taste like sweet potato.. Not real one but the sweet potato ice cream!

It's like eating one whichi is melted~

So good~ 'You have no Kkanpunggi(Deep-fried Chicken in Hot Pepper Sauce) today.'

'BaekJe, ShinLa, Goguma(Sweet potato)' No, It's just a drink from a convenicent store. Is there a drink called like that? This is just BaekJe, ShinLa,.. No, no...my bad

Masineun Hankki goguma

My hair is like beggar today.. but still thank you so much for coming!

wow~ black pepper is so good~ 'How many portion was the Monster Jjajang?'

I want noodle.more..

Should I boil some ramyun noodle and put it here?

I'm too much short on the noodle..

I want more noodle not rice.

hmm let me check if I have some noodles

??????

Let me put 3 more ramyun noodles~

Let me boil only 3 ramyuns and stir it with the Jjajang sauce~

Normally, we use a personal plate for eating this kinda food~ and this is my personal plate so...

It easily goes through my throat like water so it's called [Ryu] prob~ * Ryu means 'flowing' in chinese

so it's called like that ~ It does go like water~

The noodles done~~~

I didn't do anything messing up the noodle~ one..

two~

and three!

and the left ones~ 'The sauce can't be enough!'

Ah,, right? haha There's ryusanseul dupbab!

well~ ryusanseul dupbab(rice) does exist~ so I'll put some here~

and also here too~~

and also here !!!!! Yay! 'Hey! you have the front teeth? I can't see them..'

Here you can see. I have them as many as I should do..

Some people said I look like a grandfather My front teeth are hard to be seen.

well.. It can be good to hear myself grandpa.. then I'll live with this face forever~

It's very blend but I like the noodle too much~

It's extremely blend lol they are not seasoned at all~ but The noodle is the best!

Meat and the noodle altogether~~

It's a little bit spicy~ The chilly sauce is too sweet so I usually don't eat with the sauce.

so just a little bit~

Of course I did put some noodles into the chilly shrimp~

No~ You can just use Emart Traders without the membership~

Yes~ Now it's Ryusanseul noodle's turn~ Ryusanseul itself is already really easy to eat so~

Let me hold it like this~ 'Plz do lotta live show everyday! Don't get your first intention lost' Haha my first intention wasn't the everyday live show but doing courteous Mukbang~

I'll do my best to show you many good contents even though they are not all live shows~

Y know how the black hole works, right? It's like that~ WOW!

The ingredients stick to the noodles so~

Wow~ It's so nice~~`

I've kept this until now because I wanted the noodles to absorb the sauce

If I ate it right after put them in, it would be way blend~ WOW! Guy I really recommend to do like this!

It has different texture from the original noodle!

ah, I boiled the noodle to be a bit hard

and It's a bit swollen now, which is perfect! Yes I only put the noodles

'I just went out for a few seconds.. and the ryusanseul is gone...' Watching a soccer match, everytime I do something else for a sec, someone scores~ You must have same luck with me~

Even when I touch my phone for one sec....

'Can you have one giant scoop!?'

How do you know what I want so well...

These shrimps are very small so eating one by one is not enough~

I put the ramyun noodles. And I waited for a bit so it can absorb the sauce~ so~ It's good~

and I didn't put rice here, but honestly.. I couldn't...

Even though still I have lotta sauce, they are all about vege and meat, which means the BEST!

'Banzz! Is the nickname of your fan Guyz?' No. It's just how I call all those who come to see me~

I do eat breakfast and lunch too~ but just a little enough to let the hunger go away.

Ah some said the neon light make the foods look bad.. I paid for that so let me have it for long enough~

okay?

If you still don't like it 6 months later, plz let me know~

then, I'll do it like this~

You can't see it right?

Oh.. I really have to finish the shrimps, even though I don't eat the paprika~

This meal was like mind blown today~

Anyway, this is the end of today's mukbang. As I mentioned, I won't do live show everyday But I'll make a lot of fine contents~ and also live show whenever I can ^^

Bye!

BUT YOU HAD SUCH AN "EASY" TRANSITION! [CC] - Duration: 12:01.

[Intro Music Plays]

Chase: Hey Guys, my name is Chase and today I'm going to be talking to you about this concept of having an "easy transition"

I know that that's really vague... but like listen Toots, Ok? [ chuckle E-HA! ]

So I have seen a lot of comments, on my videos, on other people's videos, on people's Instagram posts, on Facebook

Umm, of people complaining about other's who've had an "easy transition" and don't understand the struggle

Umm, and people have said that I have had an easy transition

Umm because of where I am today.

So I want to address this in two different parts.

So the first part I'm going to address is this:

People saying that I have had an easy transition because of where I am now

The second part of the video, is going to talk about: People who are later on in their transition like this -

[ Inhales deeply ]

who say that transition is "easy" because their transition was "easy"

Umm, and I'm going to explain what "easy" means by the way, that is why I'm quoting [clicks tongue]

Umm so they don't understand the struggle of other people,

And that's what I think people are trying to get at, when their saying "easy transition" in that aspect.

But let's go to the first part first

So people say I have had an "easy transition"

Umm that's an interesting concept to me because I don't feel there is anything "easy"about transition

Umm, you might have had an easier time being accepted by your family

being accepted by your friends, by your partner

Having doctors that like are, are, like not super gate keepers

and like give you what you need, and what you want, and they give you hormones and then you have surgery, and it's like a breeze

and you're able to get everything covered by insurance, or your parents are paying for everything

[Inhale]

and that's a breeze.

So I think that when people say that you have an "easy transition" that's what I imagine in my head

Somebody who has gone through super easily

But...

I think that sometimes

We get jealous a little bit

and this isn't a video about Trans jealousy, that is a different topic video for later on, but

I think that we get jealous sometimes, and maybe forget that

People who are Trans experience dysphoria

So even if physically it looks like you went through an easy time...

Emotionally, you're still going through dysphoria, you're still going through

Will my parents accept me?

Even before you tell them

You're going to go through "Oh my god I'm going to have surgery"

this is... this is...

I want this, but this is also traumatic on my body

And you're going through dysphoria

You had top surgery, why?

Because you had top dysphoria

You had bottom surgery, why?

you had bottom dysphoria

So I feel like we forget the dysphoria aspect of being trans

I am not here to say that "All trans people have dysphoria"

and that that you have to have dysphoria to be Trans.

That is not what I`m

We`re not talking about that... this is -

Pretend like that concept doesn't even exist right now

Because right now we're talking about specifically, the emotional

[ Tongue click ] Like

The emotional state that Trans people are in

When there is something that they are afraid of, and not sure of

And a lot of the time, it's that we're unsure of ourselves in the beginning

And as time progresses, we learn to love ourselves

And love our identity, and being true to ourselves

And then it get's easier for us mentally

But there was still that struggle. So when people say that

That type of transition, that I'm saying "sounds like easiest transition

'Cause the physical transition was "flawless"

Umm...

In terms of like "steps" and like easiness of steps

I can understand how you can say "That's an easy transition", but we need to remember the emotional part of it.

So for me, just to address the people saying that I have had an easy transition

Umm

I knew I was Trans when I was 15, and I didn't say anything for years.

And I was literally emotionally torturing myself because I didn't want to lose my Dad.

That to me...

That...

[ Silence ]

That's not easy for anyone.

And, even if I had come out at that time, and my Dad was super accepting

I still had to go through the "Oh my God , I'm going to be alone forever"

And the...

It...

Honestly, it was really traumatic because I kept going back and forth

Yes I'm Trans... No I'm not Trans, this is disgusting. I don't want to be Trans, this is such a hard life

I don't want to live this

To repressing it so hard, that when it came out I just exploded and needed to do everything at once!

So... I didn't tell my Dad, and I didn't tell anyone.

and then when I graduated High School, I finally told people

and I went to therapy.

And the year after, I started hormones, when I was 19.

that was really hard

because I didn't tell my Dad...

And umm... It was not an easy process, because I got rejected from the hospital that treats Trans people in Montreal

And I didn't get into their program because I wasn't "Trans enough"

So there's all these like, little bits and pieces of someone's life that they don't show online.

Or even show to their best friends that they go through.

And I feel like, even though I joke around like "Oh I didn't get accepted. They didn't think I was Trans enough... literally"

That... ss...that... moment, that they said that- I was like "I'm not Trans".

But I'm Trans, what the hell am I feeling then?

I don't understand

and it was like I don't want to live, if I don't.. If they're not.. If these "Experts" [ Dripping with Sarcasm ]

Umm are telling me that I'm not Trans

so for me that, that was really really really hard to deal with.

and umm...

I feel like it just keeps going on... that my Dad found out, and everything was OK

and then I wanted top surgery, and then I cancelled it because I wasn't ready.

and then I decided to have surgery the year after, and I was terrified

and I made a video called "Top Surgery Anxieties" where I literally cried because I am TERRIFIED OF SURGERY

But I still go through with it

And I'm happy, and I never regret a day! I am so happy I had top surgery

[ Inhales deeply ]

But still, then I got Post-Op depression... and then I

I... I had [sigh] oh my god

then all the legal stuff with my name, and my gender marker change

And now, the fluctuating bottom dysphoria

(By the way, video coming out on that)

Umm... It's, it's overwhelming to think that people think that I have had an easy transition, because of where I am today.

And even today, I.. I don't feel like I've had it easy

I don't even know what that means... I don't even know why I keep saying that because

I am able to live my life... and this is amazing!

I've been on hormones for almost 7 years

I have had top surgery 4 years ago

I've been living the life that I've been meaning to live my whole life

And I'm finally catching up

And it feels great!

Umm

But there are still things that are traumatic to me in the past that I can't let go of

and I wish that I could

but that's what makes my life not so easy

the... the... trauma I have, associated to transition.

and A LOT of people have that even if their transition is "easy", and I think that we forget that.

because it IS a traumatic thing. I... I know someone

I'm not jealous of this person, I promise you, but it's going to sound like I am. Ok.

So I know someone who at 15 came out, at 16 got top surgery, and then had phalloplasty at 19 - at 18 sorry at 18

and almost had phallo before they were 18

and I remember looking at this person... and I talk to him, we're friends

I remember talking to him and being like

uhh and like me looking at his pictures online

and be like, "what a fucking asshole", "so fucking lucky that his fucking parents"...

like I was... I was angry. And it was angry like... like he's so lucky!

because his parents accept him

and we always say that, we always [say] aww you're so lucky, you're so lucky and

I feel like my, my view on it has changed.

One of my best friends had phalloplasty last year

which is something that I may want in the future

and I look at him, and there is not one inch of me that says

Oh my God you're so lucky, in a way that I'm not lucky.

and it's nothing like that, I'm so happy for you.

so it's completely changed the dynamic because I understand

that even though that 16 year old had top surgery and had phalloplasty super young

his parents paid for everything

Insurance, everything...

super "easy" on the outside

but also you need to understand that this person went through so much emotionally to get to the point that he is today

and that's why, this is such a hard topic to talk about, and no one talks about it but

umm... having an "easy transition" is not so "easy" afterall

[chuckles] oh my god that's so corny

I feel like this is a Christmas ad

Second part of this video, this is like small and random

Is, umm, I sometimes think that people

who are older in their transition, and say "I had such an easy transition"

And they try to represent the community and show how "easy" transition is...

I'll give you a little example

Caitlyn Jenner...

I know... I know, I mostly talk about FTM's but I gotta bring her up

I gotta bring her up

'Cause yes, she came out

and even though...k, like listen Toots, for 65 years she knew who she was, but she didn't say anything

I don't... [ long pause] that torture... that mind torture...that is not easy

but she says, and she ...it appears so I guess

that her transition was "EASY"

because she came out, and she like... it almost seemed like, like she went through a door

like she went through the hospital and looked like a beautiful woman.

because she like disappeared for months

and like came out looking like this

... not like this, but like that

umm... so I feel like people's perception is like "Oh my God, transition is easy"

and that's really problematic, especially for somebody like Caitlyn who

who didn't know anything about the community, or the.. or other trans people

and how transition is hard, and how there's homelessness

and how there's so much racism, and poverty and hate in this community

Umm, I don't think that she realizes - in the beginning -

I don't think she realized

that it is very hard, and that it is not easy for everyone

because she like swims, in a fucking pool of privilege

where it's like HUGE, and there is like little

inflatable things, that you just... are made out of gold... what am I talking about?

I'm done...

Anyways, that's it, that's all I want to talk about, about easy transition

there's a lot more that I could say about this, but for now let's leave it at that

If you have any questions, please let me know

but of course... if you find this problematic , let's have a conversation in the comments, instead of yelling at each other!

Which keeps happening in the comments section :(

Let's all just love each other, because ...

YES!

I will acknowledge - sorry I just thought of something -

the experiences of somebody like me, who had a very hard time accepting...

for me it was more accepting myself

and then just kind of going for it, I don't give a fff...... about anyone else. I'm just going to do it!

[ Inhales deeply ]

to somebody, umm, who came out at 15

and got top surgery, and their parents paid for everything, and accepted them.

that's what it looks like online, is what I'm saying

umm, but you don't know this person's true story

so my experience, his experience, and then someone's experience

where they, umm, are, super "Gate kept?" [ giggle snort ]

where, they went to like 4 different therapists, no one's giving them a T letter,

they can't get top surgery, they can't get funding, umm they're ... they don't have a job, they're disabled

Yes.. Yes 100% there three stories are COMPLETELY different!

and the experiences of people are different.

and I feel like somebody who

has a harder time, can say like "Yes, that transition looks a lot easier than me"

Umm, which I can understand

I just think that we need to really remember that we all suffer... and we all suffer in different ways

and one person's suffering, umm

over something that you think is "small" but for them is HUGE

Doesn't mean that their suffering isn't valid.

And sometimes I

Feel like I am being dramatic about a feeling that I have

and someone else has experienced something that is much worse than me

but their feeling about it, is much less

but it's almost like we have the same type of suffering... but we don't realize it.

Does that make sense?

I don't think it does

Anyways... I'll see you guys later! Have a great week. Bye!

Series I Need to Continue/Finish - Duration: 5:09.

Hey everyone, my name is Kylie and this

is Miss Kyle Reads and today I wanted to

bring you a quick video. I don't know how

quick it's going to be but I wanted to

bring you a video about all of the

series that I own that I would like to

either continue on with or to finish.

Now this is not series or trilogies that

I own that I would like to start. These

are ones that I've either- either read

the first book or the first few or I

just have the last book to finish that I

actually own so I need to do it. So let's

just jump into them because there are

quite a few and the first one is kind of

cheating because I never actually,

technically finished the first book and

that is the Chronicles of Amber by Roger

Zelazny and this is the huge, Great Book

of Amber, the whole omnibus of ten novels

and I started the first one when I was

in a little bit of a reading slump and I

never finished it. But I would love to

read these because I've got the whole

thing so I would just love to read this.

Next are ones that I have read the first

book and I own more than the first book

so I need to finish these and the first

one of those is the omnibus of the Night

Angel trilogy by Brent Weeks. I read the

first one, I read it twice last year

which is crazy but I felt like I needed

to reread it and I've got the other two

in this bind up so I just need to finish

those. I just, I just need to do it. Brent

Weeks's first trilogy; I need to do it.

I'm not going to go into great depth

about any of these because you've

probably heard me talk about them before

or you've heard somebody talk about them

before. I'm just listing off for you what

I need to finish or continue on with. You

get me? So the first one I read quite

recently of this one and that is Lord of

Emperors, the second book in the Sarantine

Mosaic. This is a duology and I

read the first book, Sailing to Sarantium

in April so I would love to

continue on and read this one just

because it's a duology so I could finish

it. But anyways, I loved the first one a

lot.

Love his writing, love everything about it.

Loved the characters, everything. Kay?

Next one is Fool Moon by Jim Butcher. I

read Storm Front like in 2015 and I

haven't continued on and if I don't

continue on, then I won't get to the ones

that are-everybody says are so great.

So I need to continue on but Fool Moon

right here. Also one that drives me nuts

is With Blood Upon the Sand by

Bradley Beaulieu and I read Twelve Kings in

Sharakhai back in February, January? And I

would love to continue on and read this

one just because I had such high hopes

for it so I just need to do it.

Also, the Rose Society by Marie Lu, the

first one in this trilogy is the Young

Elites which I liked. I think I read it in

2015, 2014 maybe. But I liked where it was

going and I think this one could be

going in a good direction. So I've got

the second one so I just need to read it.

I mention this one all the time because I

need to continue on with the Wheel of

Time and read the Great Hunt by Robert

Jordan. I really enjoyed the Eye of the

World when I read it. I just haven't

continued on with it and I would love to

you know, get me some good old classic

90s fantasy. I have read the first book

in Brandon Sanderson's Reckoners trilogy

so I need to read Firefight and Calamity,

the second and third books in that trilogy.

because I love Brandon Sanderson so I

don't know why I haven't read these yet

know a few books that I have read the

first two books in these series and I

just need to continue and read the third

ones that I own and the first of those

is stable Haven grip of the shadow

plague which is the third book in the

fable Haven series and I read the second

one in April so I really need to read

this one because I love fable Haven it's

such a great middle grade series I love

Brandon moles writing I just thoroughly

enjoy it

next is the broken eye vibrant wakes

this is the third book in a light burner

series and I have no words because I

love the library series a lot the

enjoyment factor it's really high for me

for that series so I need to continue on

and I own it so I don't know why I

haven't continued on basically that's

the gist of this whole video so next

category is books that I have yet to

complete the last book in the trilogy

these are all trilogies and I have yet

to complete the last book in them and

the first of those is Assassin's Quest

or the Farseer trilogy by Robin hobb I

am listening to the audiobook of this

currently for this one I'm working on

aren't you proud of me I want to finish

this part of your trilogy so I can get

to the rest of Robin hobb books so I am

just making my way through slowly but

this one's getting accomplished and it

makes me feel really good next one is

continent of light by ve Schwab and I

know a lot of people don't like this

shades of magic trilogy but I really

enjoy it okay let's finish my batter is

going to die this has never happened to

me and the last book I have to talk to

you is one that I'm kind of debating

whether I'm going to finish or not and

that is library of souls I write what

I've said vibrant weeks by ransom Riggs

and I read miss Peregrine's and the

second book hollow city quite a while

ago quite a few years ago and I just

don't really have any interest in

finishing this trilogy anymore but I own

it so I might as well finish it hey

everyone thanks for joining me for this

quick video where I talk about the

series but I actually own that I read at

least the first book for or that I just

need to finish give this video a big

thumbs up if you enjoyed it and comment

down below with series that you guys own

that you just need to finish because you

own them I will text you guys next time

goodbye

Alternative to Knit Front Back (KFB) Increase - Duration: 4:11.

This video is a request from Casey.

Casey is the media manager at VeryPink, and she's also the producer of our audio podcast.

She learned this technique and she said there needs to be a video for it.

Knit front back or KFB is a really common increase used in knitting.

It's probably my favorite increase because it kind of looks like a ballet when you're

working it.

And there's this technique that is an alternative to KFB, and it doesn't leave a pearl bump.

Let's go and take a look.

As usual, I've worked up this side by side sample so you can see exactly what I'm talking

about.

This column of stitches here is a traditional KFB, and this column of stitches here is this

new technique of knit front slip, I'm gonna call it.

Knit front slip, I think that makes sense.

We'll see in a minute.

The KFB leaves you with this little pearl bump, and I really like KFB, I like the look

of KFB when I use it in a pattern.

Oftentimes I want that pearl bump because it's kind of a decorative thing.

I mean you can see, all lined up like this, it looks really cool.

I think it does.

But you have something that's almost invisible over here with the alternative.

So, let's not talk about it anymore, let's get right into it.

I couldn't show you anywhere in this work, but I'm actually going to knit up to the spot

where I've been doing it.

Okay, this is my KFB spot.

I'm going to knit through the front loop, leave that old stitch on the left needle,

swing the tip of my needle around to the back loop, wrap and pull it through.

And I've just increased by one.

And you can see that second stitch has a little pearl bump to it.

Okay, this is the alternate stitch, the other way of doing it.

I'm going to knit into the front loop of the stitch, swing the tip of my needle around

to the back loop of the stitch, and just slide it over.

I'm not actually going to work that stitch, I'm just going to slip it.

Knit into the front loop, swing the tip of my needle around to the back, and just slip

it.

So that's it.

It's actually easier than a KFB.

So couple of things I wanna show you here.

Once you slip that stitch over, give your work a tug.

I don't know if you can see this.

Give your working yarn a tug.

The first leg of that stitch is really loose right now, and I think...I know it will show

in the work.

So if you give it a tug, tighten up both...that first stitch.

I said there are a couple of things.

Maybe that was the only thing I wanted to say.

That's it, I guess.

And once you have...you've worked this stitch...I just worked it many times over, when you work

the other direction or the next round, those stitches are just like any other stitch.

They're just a slip stitch.

There's nothing fancy about working them.

And I'll give you another look here at KFB and the knit front slip.

I guess that name works, doesn't it?

I think so.

One more arrow for your knitting quiver, I guess.

One more thing that you know for your arsenal.

I hope you enjoy working this stitch.

Good luck.

HOME-COOKED Filipino Food - Eating Manila Street Food in TONDO, Philippines! - Duration: 20:53.

- Good morning everyone, it's Mark Wiens.

I'm in Manila, Philippines.

And this is just completely random,

but we are going over to a friend's house today

to eat some home-cooked...

She's invited us over to eat some home-cooked

Filipino food.

My mouth is watering, I'm ready to eat,

and I can't wait to try some of the dishes

that her mom is gonna cook for us today.

We are in a taxi now, on our way to my friend's house.

And her name is Edzen.

This is just a completely random story.

Just earlier, about one hour earlier this morning,

she wrote me a message and said,

"If you can come over to my house, that would be great.

"My mom is cooking."

And so, since we didn't have anything to do today,

we're just...

We jumped in a taxi, we are on our way now.

She just sent me a photo on my phone

and her mom is already cooking.

Ooh, I can't wait.

We are almost to her house,

and her house is located in an area of Manila called Tondo.

- [Driver] Small talipapa.

- [Mark] Small talipapa? - [Driver] Small market.

- [Mark] Talipapa.

- I'm so happy to see you. - [Mark] Hi.

- Every morning, she goes just there.

This is Mark, and Ying. - [Ying] Hi.

- But we're gonna go to our house.

- [Mark] Hi.

Nice to meet you.

That's okay.

Thank you so much.

(laughs)

Well, thank you so much for inviting us.

- I am so happy. - [Mark] This is amazing.

- It's been like what, since 2009.

- Was it in 2009 or 2010?

- 2009.

- 2009, whoa, that's a long time ago.

And we haven't seen each other since.

- Yes.

- And we met in Sagada. - In Sagada, yeah.

- I was traveling by myself.

- Yeah, and you were eating cabbage,

or some fresh fruits or vegetables.

- And you were traveling with your friend.

- Yeah, my best friend.

- Did we meet in the cave?

I think we met in a cave, right?

Or did we go together-- - Yeah, we were on our way

to the cave, and we have to pay a tour guide.

And because we wanted to share, it was like,

"Hey, do you wanna go with us

and we're gonna save some money?"

So, it's for like 500,

and three of us shared the 500 fee for the tour.

- Oh yeah, so we shared a guide to go into a cave in Sagada.

- [Edzen] She also cooked this this morning.

- [Mother] Tulingan, fish tulingan.

- [Mark] Fish tulingan.

- [Mother] With papis. - [Mark] Okay.

- [Mother] And dried kamias.

- [Mark] Oh, it's the whole fish in there.

- [Edzen] She doesn't wanna stop cooking.

- [Mark] She loves to cook.

- [Edzen] She wakes up at two in the morning

and prepares the food.

And then breakfast of this whole community, actually,

she cooks it, yeah. - [Mark] She cooks for

the whole community?

- [Edzen] Yeah, sort of this area.

All the kids going to school, people going to the office.

- You're gonna cook dinuguan?

- Yes. - Oh!

Dinuguan is a Filipino blood stew.

- Like adobo.

- It's one of my favorite Filipino dishes.

- Adobo? - Dinuguan, dinuguan.

I love to eat dinuguan.

And then she's also already prepared some other dishes.

A fish in a banana leaf.

Oh, I can't wait.

- Spicy. - [Mark] Oh, spicy is good.

I love spicy.

In order to make dinuguan,

she first sauteed some chopped onions and garlic in a pan

with a little bit of oil.

Next, she had precooked some pork which was already cut

into bite-sized pieces

and already incredibly tender that she added.

She's just been simmering that pork with those onions

and now, vinegar.

A lot of vinegar.

Finally, it wouldn't be dinuguan without blood.

And I'm talking like an entire pot full of raw pig's blood.

The blood is what gives dinuguan its uniqueness

and is the base of the sauce.

Lastly, in order to season,

she added in some ground black pepper and salt

and a few sliced up green chiles.

And then, green chiles.

And then, she said that you don't wanna stir it.

You just leave it...

You just let it sit and simmer for 30 minutes,

with no stirring?

When it's finished cooking, it's gonna be

like a thick, curdled blood sauce.

Don't let the blood throw you off

because it's such a wonderful, rich, and delicious dish.

I love it so much.

Edzen's mom, she's legendary in this neighborhood

for cooking, so I just want to say that it is a huge honor

to be invited to Edzen's house,

and thank you very much to her whole family for having me.

It's really a...

This is really special.

This is the dinuguan.

So Edzen's mom, I'm gonna call her Aling Zeni.

And she...

This is the dish that I saw her cook.

This is the dinuguan, the Filipino blood stew.

There's pork in here, there are chiles in here,

and she added like, a half a bottle of vinegar

plus a good like, liter of raw blood.

And then it cooked down, simmered down

into this like rich, look at that sauce.

Oh, it's just...

It's just black and rich and chocolatey-looking.

Onto my rice with some more of that sauce.

Okay, I gotta just get some of the chile in there.

Oh, that is delicious.

I love the sour flavor of that vinegar.

And the blood has been simmered down and reduced so much

that it's almost, it's like a thick, rich gravy.

- [Mother] Ginataang kuhol.

- [Mark] Ginataang kuhol.

This is the dish that Edzen sent me a photo of

earlier in the morning, a couple hours ago.

She sent me a photo, said her mom was cooking this dish.

I knew we had to come here immediately.

There are whole chiles in here again, too.

And look at that coconut milk that's just kinda

slightly thickened and you can see all that rich flavor.

So you can sort of just hit it out?

(laughs)

Falls out of your hands. - [Edzen] Yeah, you have

to do that.

- [Mark] Oh, you have to go like this to get it out?

- [Edzen] Yes.

- [Mark] Oh actually, I can see him right there.

Maybe I can just grab him.

(laughs)

Oh, yeah.

- [Edzen] Bit more power. - [Mark] More power?

- [Edzen] Yeah.

- [Mark] Oh, there he goes.

There he goes, okay.

Here he is.

And with some of that...

Oh, I want some of that piece of that chile

as well in this bite.

That bite of snail.

Oh, that's nice and meaty.

Hey what's up, man?

No, no, no, you can come.

- [Edzen] Come here and join us.

- [Mark] You can come, you can come.

The snail is tender, and then just a slightly like,

gelatinous taste to it, or texture to it.

But then it's wrapped up in coconut milk.

It is a little bit sour-tasting.

You can taste the onions in there, the garlic in there.

And also, you can taste the kinda sourness

from those green chiles as well.

So this is one of her mom's specialties that she cooked.

Fish with spices and then wrapped in a...

She said it was boiled, I think, right?

Boiled, it's boiled? - [Edzen] Yeah.

- [Mark] Okay, and then boiled in a banana leaf.

I can already smell the aroma

of those banana leaves, especially.

They have like, an embedded banana leaf aroma.

Oh, wow.

It kind of has a very firm texture to it.

It has a very salty taste to it.

It almost tastes like the fish are kinda salted,

preserved a little bit.

But very...

Maybe they've been boiled in saltwater for a very long time,

like a brine taste to it.

It's salty, and yeah, very flavorful.

I love it.

And you can-- - [Edzen] This adds flavor

to it. - [Mark] Oh, what is that?

- [Edzen] It's called kamias.

- [Mark] This is one of the ingredients in the fish,

and that's what's giving it some of the flavor.

So maybe I'll taste it with some more of that fish.

Try this, tree cucumber.

Oh!

Kinda slimy.

And then it's kinda salty.

That tastes like a pickle, actually.

It's like a pickle.

I guess that's a cucumber.

I think that dinuguan, though, and the snails,

those are just spectacular.

But nothing beats home-cooking.

Micah-- - Lola.

- [Mark] Lola, say hello to Lola.

(laughs)

- [Mark] And then for dessert, we have biko.

And this is sticky rice with coconut,

I think coconut milk and sugar

and then also toasted, or fried coconut as well.

Oh, wow.

You can feel the grains of the rice, but at the same time,

it has kind of a pudding texture to it.

Very coconutty.

Sweet, but not overly sweet.

And you can also really taste that fried,

or really, kinda like caramelized coconut on top.

Is this turon?

- [Edzen] Turon, yes.

- [Mark] You just grab it? - [Edzen] Uh-huh.

- [Mark] This is called banana Q.

Salamat.

Caramelized with sugar, banana Q.

This is a popular Filipino street food snack.

Oh, it's hot.

I wasn't expecting it to be so hot.

It's like, really fresh.

The banana is very, very gooey, soft on the inside.

And then that is like caramelized...

I think it's like caramelized sugar

on the outside of the banana.

(people talking)

(speaking Filipino)

- [Mark] We just stopped to eat some ginataang.

Oh, ginataang halo-halo.

And there's tapioca in here, there's bananas in here,

there's sticky rice.

Actually, I'm just gonna...

I'm just gonna pick it up.

It's like a pudding-like consistency.

You can see the tapioca, you can see pieces of banana

and then she added in some kinda crusty sticky rice.

So I'll try to get...

I'll try to get a little bit of everything

in one bite.

I think this is a sweet dessert.

Oh, yeah.

It is sweet,

but it has a...

It's like a tapioca pudding.

You can taste the coconut milk in there as well.

The banana is sour,

and then the rice is kinda crunchy.

Also, there's some Karo in here as well,

which also gives it a starchy texture.

Tondo is known throughout Manila for being--

- [Edzen] Dangerous. - It's a little bit

dangerous? - Yeah.

- And kind of a,

pretty poor area, right? - [Edzen] Yeah.

- [Mark] But at the same time, it's really...

It really has an amazing community feel to it.

Everyone around here knows each other.

Everyone, I mean the majority of people are very friendly

and very kind.

What I like about an area like, a place like this,

is that you see so many creative people,

so many people doing things making a living

from all sorts of creative methods

and doing what they can to live and survive.

And so this is a...

It's also a place of hope

and amazing people.

And lots and lots of stories.

Hello.

- Hello. - Hi.

- [Mark] Hi, how are you? - Hello.

- [Mark] Hi, what's your name?

- Jadim.

- [Mark] Jaden. - Jadim.

- [Mark] Jaben.

Nice to meet you, what's up man?

Nice to meet you, nice to meet you.

(kids giggling)

- [Mark] Bye-bye.

- (in unison) Bye-bye.

- [Edzen] Open, want have a picture it.

- [Mark] Oh, thank you.

Oh, cool, okay, all right.

- [Edzen] He's gonna put some salt, I think.

(speaks Filipino)

- [Mark] And coconut.

Is that salt or sugar?

- [Edzen] A little.

It's salt. - [Mark] Okay.

Okay, salamat.

(bell dings)

It's corn, and I saw he cooked it with lemongrass as well.

And then he just piled on some coconut, shredded coconut.

It's okay.

He piled on some shredded coconut.

Thank you Edzen, for holding the corn.

And I'll try.

It's almost like creamy corn down below there.

Oh, with all that coconut, I want all that coconut.

- [Edzen] It's hot. - [Mark] It's hot?

Okay.

Look at that.

Oh, I lost my coconut.

Here we go.

Oh, yeah.

I think it's salt.

It's not sweet at all.

It's like cream corn with just pure shredded coconut on top.

I like that a lot.

Kinda starchy, and kinda filling.

Every few minutes, somebody comes around selling something.

This is an amazing area.

And so this is an amazing auntie who sells fish.

She has smoked fish, she has bangus, which has been,

I think it's marinated in vinegar.

(speaks Filipino)

And then she's been selling...

How long has she been selling this,

coming around? - Since 1978.

- Since 1978, she has been coming around selling,

selling here in the neighborhood.

Amazing, she's a legend.

(laughs)

- [Mark] Salamat.

- [Edzen] In English, I don't know.

But it's called kutsinta.

- [Mark] Kutsinta.

(speaks Filipino)

- [Edzen] This one's sweet.

This is yema.

It's like a milk.

(speaks Filipino)

- [Mark] Wow. - [Edzen] Kutsinta with yema.

- [Mark] Is it like dulce de leche?

No. - [Edzen] Yeah, this one is

made of milk. - [Mark] Okay, salamat.

- [Man] Salamat. - [Mark] Salamat.

- [Edzen] Kutsinta with yema.

- Kutsinta-- - With yema.

- And the brown stuff is yema.

You cannot sit in Edzen's house for very long

without another street food coming.

Literally, that was just like,

a minute between the last street food.

And then the brown topping that he put on is called--

- [Edzen] Yema. - [Mark] Yema.

Oh!

Yeah, okay.

I was thinking that tastes like dulce de leche,

which is popular throughout South America, I think.

It's like a

reduced sweet cream

that's kinda, has a caramel taste to it.

The base of this, the handheld part of it

is kind of gelatinous, kind of like a,

kind of like a gelatinous rice cake.

Hello.

(kids talking)

- [Mark] I think isaw, which are grilled intestines,

chicken intestines, which are on the grill right now

and they are hissing away.

But I think they are one of the best

Filipino street food snacks you can possibly eat.

Oh, they're just sizzling and popping away like popcorn.

Can I grab an adidas? - [Woman] Yeah, help yourself.

Got mostly isaw, which are the chicken intestines,

which I think are some of the most superior skewers

you can get at a stall like this.

And then also got something called a helmet,

which, it might be kinda self-explanatory,

but I'll show it to you when it's ready.

And then also adidas,

what's known locally as adidas.

And we got it in a little to-go sack

and we're gonna bring it back to the house to eat.

But I asked her to save one,

one skewer of the isaw, which are the chicken intestines,

this is one of the greatest grilled skewers

on the streets here in the Philippines.

And I'm just gonna stand here and eat it.

And you can dip it, oh yes.

This is vinegar with chiles and onions.

And you can just dip it once.

And no double-dipping, just dip it once

and get as much of the...

Scoop up some onions and chiles.

It's literally right off the grill, so it's crispy.

It's kinda like, soft on the inside.

And with that vinegar, those chiles on top, those onions.

This is the grilled snack of champions.

They just go down so easily.

Hello, hello.

(kids talking and laughing)

- [Mark] Bye-bye, thank you.

Bye-bye. - Bye-bye.

(kids talking)

- [Mark] Okay, I'm going for the helmet.

And this is not only a helmet,

but the whole neck is attached too.

They also had just straight helmets.

And if you didn't know by now,

a helmet in the Philippines refers to the chicken heads.

Now, along with eating all the neck meat,

chicken neck meat is delicious.

And then you also eat the head.

And Edzen is explaining to me that one of the best parts

of eating helmets is the brain of the chicken.

So, may as well start off with that.

All right, chicken brains.

Oh, yeah, it's quite soft.

But then you wanna take off...

Oh, some juices.

Oh, there it is.

The creamy brain on the inside there.

You can see that whiteness.

Oh, wow.

Oh, that's creamy.

It's like cream cheese.

Oh, yeah.

That's what eating a helmet is all about.

That just exploded with juices.

Next up, I'll try the adidas.

And

that refers to chicken feet.

They always kinda remind me of baseball mitts.

Yeah, chicken feet have never been my favorite.

They are...

They do taste good, gnawing on the bones.

But there's just not a whole lot to eat on them.

These are both okay,

but I'm really all about that isaw, though.

The chicken intestines, that's where it's at.

Let me have a chicken intestine.

Oh, and that vinegar.

That vinegar makes it really good.

Oh, yeah.

This reigns supreme on the grill.

We just caught a taxi, we're heading out of Tondo.

And that was one of the most amazing experiences

I've had so far in Manila.

It was...

Not only was the home-cooked food just incredible,

and I wanna say a huge thank you, by the way,

to Edzen, Edzen's mom, and her whole family

for warmly and generously inviting us to their home.

That was fantastic.

But it was also just an amazing eye-opening experience

and to just come into this neighborhood,

and Tondo is known as...

It doesn't have a good reputation in Manila.

But it's also, at the same time,

what's really disappointing is that

the majority of the people are just amazing and friendly

and really welcoming.

But it's just a couple of people

that have to give the entire area a bad reputation.

But met some amazing people, had some delicious food,

and that was just a completely random day

but it turned into a fascinating experience.

Thank you very much for watching this video.

Please remember to give it a thumbs up if you enjoyed it.

I'd love to hear from you in the comment section below.

Why I Give Wednesday - Dr. Roberta Olson - Duration: 0:41.

The Alumni Green is going to make the campus even more beautiful

than it currently is. I had a solid foundation out of SDSU.

And after I'd been out of college, I came back 30 years

later to become dean and I served as dean for 19.5 years.

My husband followed me to Brookings. What choice did he

have? And he's also on the plaque and he received a PhD

a legacy that we wanted to leave.

#AskJon: How has the media landscape changed and how do I adjust my media relations efforts? - Duration: 1:17.

The short version of the answer is

the media landscape has changed a lot over the last

four or five years. It's been well documented

some media have shrunken,

some media have gone away. The number of people

at media that we can pitch is now far

fewer than it ever has been.

So, you need to be patient, you need to be much

more targeted with your pitches.

You should do a lot of research online

and on social, and if you have access to a database,

on who is the right person to pitch to.

And, on the agency side, especially, you need

to explain all of this to your client

ahead of time, because

even more than ever, you can

get that big hit tomorrow, or it could

up to six months to get the type of coverage

that you really need to get

and that your client wants you to get for them.

So, patience is a virtue these days

in a big way, and this is why a lot of

agencies have gone to more of the

Earned, Owned, Paid model, because

The owned and paid buys you time

to earn the earned media.

"Covering your ears"

- This video contains the whisper voice.

- As it is a binaural recording, make sure to use headphones or earphones to enjoy the experience.

· This video contains the sound of covering your ears, plus hand sounds and rain sounds. Hello, it's Hatomugi.

! Caution! Last time I uploaded a video like this, I got a lot of comments like "It sounds like thunder or an earthquake" and "I don't know why, but this freaked me out." If you feel at all like this isn't for you, stop the video immediately.

! Caution! Last time I uploaded a video like this, I got a lot of comments like "It sounds like thunder or an earthquake" and "I don't know why, but this freaked me out." If you feel at all like this isn't for you, stop the video immediately. A lot of you requested the sound you hear when you cover your ears, so I'm doing that this time.

I will cover your ears.

What about you?

In my other Ears Covering video posted before, some people said sounded like an earthquake.

If the sounds bother you or make you feel anxious, don't force yourself to listen to them.

They used to say that the rumbling you hear when you cover your ears was from the blood flowing,

They used to say that the rumbling you hear when you cover your ears was from the blood flowing,

but apparently they recently discovered that it's your muscles.

When the fibers in the muscles contract they make a sound, and you hear a rumbling noise.

How do you like it?

I find it strangely calming. What about you?

Do you feel calm?

When I grip my hands tighter, the sound gets louder.

I guess I'm my muscles are contracted.

It's true, gripping tighter makes the sound louder.

It's weird listening to the sound muscles make over a microphone.

That's it.

Thank you for watching until the end.

Also, let's meet again in another video.

good night

The Lean Startup: Build, Measure, Learn + FREE CHEAT SHEET - Duration: 5:53.

Previously…

I asked for your help to put into action a Cunning Plan

to create a COURSE in a LEAN way

That's "Lean" as in "The Lean Start-up"

Today…

I'll bring you up to date with developments.

Rather SURPRISING developments.

Oh.

And hang on to the end to grab your copy

of a brand new Cheat Sheet.

Can you guess what it's about?

Welcome to Development That Pays

My name is Gary Straughan

If you do a Google image search for for "the Lean Startup"

you'll find no shortage of pictures of

Eric Ries' book, "The Lean Start Up"

And this: the Lean Start-up "Build-Measure-Learn" loop.

As tends to happen, there's been some Interpretation

Most versions emphasise the verbs - the doing words

One or two emphasise the nouns - the things

Some give them equal billing.

I'm going to use this version, with the emphasis where it should be

on the "doing words": Build, Measure, Learn

If this model is new to you

take a moment to gauge your reaction to it

I know.

I know.

It's stunning

earth-shattering.

Revolutionary.

A game-changer.

Oh.

That's not what you're thinking?

It was my first thought either

It's no different to Plan, Do, Check, Act.

That I heard about…

But - as is often the case - there is more to this model than meets the eye.

What if I told you that we've already fallen into TWO traps

that is this model was designed to help us to avoid.

Last time I gave you a terrifying insight into the workings of my mind.

The twin ideas of "Lean" and "developing some-kind-of a course"

that coalesced into the notion of developing some-kind-of-a course in a Lean fashion.

With your help.

The episode went out…

and your comments started to come in.

As I read them I got

concerned.

Many of the suggestions

- and by the way, they were GREAT suggestions that HAVE BEEN noted , stored, and will be

brought out again at the approate point

Many of the suggestions, were about the CONTENT of the course itself.

This is the first trap.

Now hear me clearly: I TOTALLY understand.

Because it's EXACTLY what I would have done

It's what we're programmed to do.

Given an outline, we like to fill in the gaps.

More than "like": compelled!

Did you just fill in a triangle?

One the of the Build Measure Learn images I found expresses this just about perfectly.

It's spot on: "People love this part!"

There's a STRONG drive to "get on and build it".

It's a very HUMAN drive.

It's a drive that we would do well.. to RESIST.

"Hold on just one minute" I can hear you say

"It Is says Build Measure Learn.

And you're giving us a hard time for wanting to build?

"What?

Are just going to magically Measure?"

"Why not cut out the middle man

and go straight to LEARN?!?"

You raise an excellent point.

As I'm sure you've noticed, the flow here is in a clockwise direction.

Of course it is.

It would be weird if it wasn't.

Anyway.

It's a flow of doing

A flow of action.

What's clear if you read the book

is that there's also an anti-clockwise flow.

"counter-clockwise" if you prefer

It's a flow that you'll struggle to find in a Google Image search

Although I did find one eventually.

Check this out:

Assumption, Metric, Experiment.

Notice that it's a flow of "thinking" rather than a "doing".

A flow that comes - just case it's not 100% obvious

- before the "doing"

The hidden anti-clockwise / counter-clockwise flow is, in my opinion,

the key that unlocks the power of the Build Measure Learn model.

Rather than speaking in the abstract, let's apply if directly to our project -

the "5-Day Mini-course".

What's the assumption?

I guess it's that people, will, you know.. like it.

"That weak-assed story is the best you can come up with?"

He's right.

This is no time for woolly thinking.

Okay.

How about:

ASSUMPTION: "The 5 Day Mini-course will help to grow my audience"

Hmm… okay.

Not sure that's specific enough… but let's see where it leads us.

What's the metric?

YouTube viewers?

YouTube subscribers maybe?

I'd actually like to throw the net wider than YouTube.

How about email subscribers?

"The 5 Day Mini-course will result in more email opt-ins."

And the metric is: email opt-ins.

All we need to do now is to come up with an EXPERIMENT

Which is where I fell into a second trap.

I tell you all about that next time

Don't leave empty handed.

I have a Cheat Sheet for you - a "Lean Startup" Cheat Sheet.

At the time of recording, it's a bit

well, "lean"

(And not in a good way)

As with all of my cheat sheets, it will be upgraded over time

and you'll auto-magically get the new version.

Of course, if your watching this in the future.

it's already awesome.

Either way, click the link in the description below, follow the instructions, and it's

all yours.

Thanks for watching.

If you enjoyed this episode it would be amazing if you'd click to LIKE

And hit the logo to SUBSCRIBE for a new episode every Wednesday.

I look forward to seeing you next time.

Cheers for now.

Is Bitcoin a Good Investment? - Duration: 5:16.

Hey guys, Bridget for Money After

Graduation here to answer a question

I've been hearing so often now, and that is

is Bitcoin a good investment?

the reason I'm being asked this question

is because Bitcoin is trading at an

all-time high. At the time I'm recording

this one Bitcoin is worth about $1,750 US

dollars. Most people have witnessed the

gain in bitcoin's value over the past few

months in the past few years and they're

starting to look at it as something

serious that they maybe want to buy as

part of their overall investment

portfolio to grow their wealth. Now while

I think bitcoin is super cool and

probably has an interesting future ahead,

I wouldn't say that's a good investment

and I'm going to tell you why. If you're

not familiar with Bitcoin, bitcoin is a

digital currency that's not attached to

any particular bank, country, or

government.

This means it's totally unregulated and

this also means that it's uninsured.

Unlike currencies of the US and Canada

that are insured by the FDIC or the CDIC,

no one is protecting your bitcoins.

When you own bitcoins you either store

them in a digital wallet on your

computer or in the cloud.

Both of these are vulnerable to either

accidental deletion or hackers, and if

you were to accidentally lose your

bitcoins by either of these ways, there

would be nothing in place to replace

them. At their current price point you

can understand why that would hurt even

if you only owned, like, three. One of the

reasons people love Bitcoin and it has

been so popular is because it's not

attached to any name. It's a currency

that can be used anonymously. Some people

use it this way to purchase things that

they really shouldn't like, illegal or

illicit substances online, but other

people just enjoy it for its flexibility

and that it's not restricted to any

borders or market across the globe. As

time goes on, more and more businesses

are accepting Bitcoin as payment. I know

in my city there's actually a chain of

coffee shops that have a currency

exchange machine that will let you

exchange Canadian dollars for bitcoins

right in the coffee shop. Obviously the

more businesses that accept Bitcoin, the

more valuable it becomes and the more

useful it is for

everyone. Many people think this type of

digital cryptocurrency is the future and

will eventually replace traditional

money.

However, bitcoin is still in its own

league when compared to other currencies.

It's important to note that bitcoin

itself has no intrinsic value because

it's not tied to a currency or product

its price is determined totally by how

much people perceive that it's worth. Now

you might say that this is true of any

investment on the stock market, its value

is completely dependent on what people

perceive it to be worth, but bitcoin is

still an unusual one because there's

nothing behind it. Even with securities

on the stock market, they represent

companies that have services or products

that they're selling and that helps

determine the value of their stock. This

isn't true of Bitcoin, there's nothing

behind it, there's nothing it's based on, it

just exists completely on what people

are willing to pay for it in exchange

for the currency of their country.

Bitcoin isn't regulated by any specific

country or government so there's no

saying where the value will go -- no one

has any control over it. Some people

might like this but for others it might

make you a little nervous. In addition to

the lack of regulation, security, and

insurance for Bitcoin, it's also

extremely volatile and this is actually

what really makes me hesitate in

thinking about Bitcoin as an investment.

The price of Bitcoin can go up and down

by as much as 20% in a single day. Right

now it's been on a pretty strong up

trajectory but it's not uncommon to see

the price drop by $200

in a mere matter of minutes. Most

investors can't stomach that kind of

market swings and so if you own Bitcoin

it might make you really nervous to see

the value of your investment fluctuate

by huge amounts. For this reason Bitcoin

doesn't necessarily have a place in your

long term investment portfolio, but that

doesn't mean that it can't be fun or

interesting to own. My recommendation to

you would be to stay away from Bitcoin

as a serious investment or a hope of

getting rich quickly, but don't

necessarily shy away from it if you

think that it's really cool, really fun

if you have the money to spare to buy

some.

Another thing worth mentioning is that

when something becomes really popular

and trendy the way bitcoin is now, it

usually means it's near the top. If

you're just hearing about it and

considering entering it as an investment

right now, chances are you probably missed

many of the largest gains already. Now I

can't predict the future price of

Bitcoin any better than I can predict

the future price of other securities.

Actually, I'm probably better at guessing

the future price of other securities

because they're based on something. With

Bitcoin I have no idea where it's headed

next. Nevertheless, I find crypto

currencies super interesting and I think

bitcoin is the strongest player on the

market. If you guys are investing in

Bitcoin or considering it, I would love

to hear about it in the comments below.

Let me know what made you decide to buy

bitcoins and where you think that it's

going next. If you enjoyed this video

please give it a thumbs up and subscribe

to my channel and I will be back with

more financial wisdom for you next week.
