In this video, We will learning about "Link Value, Equation & Configure Feature".
Ok, so to learning these 3 topics, We can use this part.
This part called as "Socket".
So, You can download this "Socket" part at the download link in the description field below !
Ok, let's begin !
We can open our SolidWorks first !
After You already download that file, We can open it !
"Socket.SLDPRT" !
So, We will use this part for learning the "Link Value, Configure Feature & Equation".
Ok, so what is the "Link Value, Equation & Configure Feature" ?
This is the definition.
We can start from the "Link Value".
Ok, so "Link Value" is used for creating some equations for several dimension
by adding a same name for all of dimensions that need to be equalized.
Then, We can try to use this "Link Value".
Ok, So We can start to use the "Link Value".
First, We can click this "6 Point" feature !
After We clicked that feature, these dimensions was automatically shown,
but if there's no dimensions appears We can double click that feature !
Then, We can double click this "11" dimension (at the number) !
We can change it to be "9" !
After that, press "Enter" !
Ok, so after We did some changes, We need to click "Rebuild" over here or press "CTRL+B" for updating !
Ok, so like this.
Then, show the previous dimensions again !
Click or double click this "6 Point" feature again !
After it was showing these dimensions again, We can right click at this dimension !
Right click at this "9" dimension !
Then, We can select this "Link Values", click !
So, right here We want to make this "9" dimension as the main references for the other dimensions.
So, We can adding the name for this dimension, please type "Dimensi Referensi" at this field !
After that, We can click "Ok" !
After We adding the "Link Value" for this dimension, it was showing an unlimited icon like this beside it.
Now, We can click outside the area !
Nah, after We've added the "Link Value", it has shown an "Equations" folder over here.
We can expand this folder, click this small arrow icon !
It was showing "Dimensi Referensi : 9" inside that folder.
So, for the "Link Value" and for the "Equation", all of them will be listed inside this "Equations" folder.
A folder that being above the "Material".
Then, after We determined the "9" dimension as the main "Link Value" reference,
then, We want change this "12 Point" feature dimensions,
double click this feature until it was showing its dimensions like this !
After this "11" dimension shown, We will make this dimension to be same with the previous dimension
that We defined as the main "Link Value" reference.
To do that, We can right click at this "11" dimension !
Then click the "Link Value" again !
Then, don't add a new name in this field, but We need to select the previous "Link Value" that We defined !
Click this small arrow !
We can select the "Dimensi Referensi" (click) !
After that, We can click "Ok" !
Then, click "Ok or Close Dialog" over here !
Nah, We can click "Rebuild" to update this model !
So, the dimensions of this "Sketch 3 (12 Point Feature) & Sketch 2 (6 Point Feature)",
all of them using this "Link Value" dimension (9).
So, if We change this "Link Value" reference dimension from "9" to "12",
it will changes all of these 2 sketch dimension also becoming "12".
Without change them one by one, We just need directly change this "Link Value" reference dimension.
And to change the "Link Value" value, We can click one of these 2 sketches "2 or 3", let's say click the "Sketch3" !
After this dimension that have link value was appeared, We can double click this dimension !
Then, We just need to input the dimension value, let's say "12" !
Then, press "Enter" !
Ok, and now We can click "Rebuild" to updating this model !
Nah, the model has changed.
As We known We change the "Link Value" dimension from this "Sketch3", now let's check the "Sketch2" !
Ok the link value dimension in the "Sketch2" has changed too became "12".
It's because We use the same "Link Value" reference for these "Sketch 2 & 3" dimensions.
So, We don't need to change these 2 dimensions one by one.
Then, We can double click this "Sketch2" dimension, this "12" dimension !
Change it back to "9" !
"Enter" !
Then update the changes, "Rebuild" !
Now, We can click this "Sketch3" !
Nah, this dimension has changed back became "9" because We using "Link Value" for these 2 dimensions.
Ok, so that's it the functions of "Link Value".
Now, We will try to using "Equation".
What is "Equation" ?
So, "Equations" used for creating an mathematical equations between several dimensions.
Ok, We can get back to our SolidWorks !
Then, We can try to create a new sketch on "Top Plane" !
Right click the "Top Plane" !
Click "Sketch" !
Then press "CTRL+8" for "Normal To" !
We can zoom out the view like this !
Then, We can create a "Center Rectangle" sketch, click !
"Center Rectangle" !
Click from this area !
to this area !
Then, press "ESC" to end the command !
Ok, so right now We already got a rectangle sketch geometry like this.
Previously, if We want to make this "Horizontal" & this "vertical" lines have a same length each other,
We can add an "Equal" sketch relation between these 2 sketch lines.
So, We can click this "Vertical" sketch line !
Press & hold "CTRL" !
Then, click this "Horizontal" sketch line !
Release the "CTRL" !
Nah, for those 2 items that We have selected We want to apply which relations for them ?
An "Equal" sketch relation.
So, We can click "Equal" !
"ESC" !
Ok, so these sketch lines has already same each other.
And when We dragging this sketch point, like this !
So, if the "Horizontal" lines was changed, the "Vertical" will following that changes and vice versa.
Release !
And now, how to create this "Horizontal" line have 2x longer than this "Vertical" line ?
So, this "Vertical" line will has just always 1/2 length than this "Horizontal" line, how?
We can do that using "Equation".
We can delete the "Equal" relation first from this line !
Click this "Vertical" line until it was showing this "Equal" relation icon like this !
Then, click this "Equal" relation icon (small box) !
Then press "Delete" !
Then, We can drag this sketch point, click & hold this point !
Nah, they are no longer in equal relations again, because We already deleted the "Equal" relations for them.
Then, release it !
Press "ESC" !
Press "ESC" again !
Then, We can add the "Smart Dimension" !
We can add "50" for this "Horizontal" line !
"Enter" !
After that, We can add a dimensions for this "Vertical" line, click !
"Click" !
Make sure it was showing this dialog box !
For adding an "Equation", We just need to input "=" before adding the dimension value.
Type "=" !
After We inputted this sign, we can input an equations that We want.
In this case, We want this "Vertical" line length to be 1/2 from this "Horizontal" line,
so We can input an equation like this, "1/2 *" !
Then click this "Horizontal" line dimension !
Don't input "50" manually, but click this dimensions to create a link, click this "50" dimension !
So, the equation that We use is "1/2 * (The horizontal line length (50))".
Then, after We inputted this equation, We can click "Ok" !
Then, press "ESC" to end the "Smart Dimension" command !
After We adding this equation, there's appears a "Sigma" icon before our dimension value.
This is the icon of "Equation".
So, We can't edit this "25" dimension manually again.
Because this dimension has been linked with this "Horizontal" line length dimension.
So, if We want to modify the size of this rectangle sketch,
Don't edit this "25" dimension !
But edit it from this "50" dimension !
Why ?
It's because dimension which controlling this rectangle sketch size is the "50" dimension for now.
And also its because We already added an "Equation" for this "25" dimension than this "50" dimension.
So, when We edit this "50" dimension, double click !
Then input "20" and press "Enter" !
Ok, so for this "Vertical" line dimension has already followed the change,
it's always 1/2 from this "Horizontal" dimension because our "Equation" that We've already defined.
Then, We can press "ESC" !
So, the dimension that We can modify is this "20" dimension,
the dimension which controlling (depending) and not containing any equations in it.
And for this dimension is dimensions that have been controlled by "Equation".
If this "20" dimension was modified, this "10" dimension will always follow that changes.
And after We adding any "Equation", all of them was listed in the "Equation Folder" over here.
We can right click at this "Equations" folder !
Then, click "Manage Equations" !
As We can see, at the "Global Variables" columns, there was listed our previous "Link Value - 9" also.
And then for the equation that We've been created is listed below this column, at the "Equation" field.
We can also change or modify and also delete this equations from this settings.
We can click at here !
"Delete" !
Nah, our equations was already deleted now, We can click "Ok" !
As We can see, this "10" dimension was already normal again.
And if We change this "20" dimension, double click !
Edit become "30" !
"Enter" !
So, this dimension is still at its own value, because there's no more equations that control that dimension.
Then, We can press "ESC" !
We can cancel for this sketch creation, click "Cancel" !
"Discard changes and exit" !
Ok, now We can press "CTRL+7" for "Isometric" !
And now, We want to add an equation for this outer diameter dimension of this shaft geometry.
First, We can showing the outer dimension of this shaft by double click this cylindrical surface !
Ok, so We want modify this "25" diameter dimension.
Now, We can double click this "25" dimension (make sure double click at its number), like this !
Then, We can adding a new equation,
Type " = " !
Then, go to this "Global Variables" !
Then, We can select our previous "Link Value" reference dimension, We can click this one !
So, for the equations is " (Link value dimension) + 6" (type "+ 6") !
Then, click "Ok" !
Then, We can update this model by clicking this "Rebuild" icon !
So, if we change this "Link Value" reference dimension, let's say We can click this "Sketch2" first !
After it was showing the dimension like this, We can double click this "9" link value dimension !
We can change it become "12" !
"Enter" !
Then, click "Rebuild" to update !
Ok, so the outer diameter will always "+ 6" from this "Link Value" reference dimensions because its equation.
So, that's the functions of "Equation".
Then, We can get back the "Link Value" reference dimension into "9" again,
We can click or double click this "Sketch2" to show its dimension !
After that, We can double click this "12" dimension !
Then, input "9" and press "Enter" !
Ok, We can "Exit Edit Sketch" !
Then, We can click "Rebuild" for updating the model, like this !
And now, We will adding a new equation for this model.
We can double click this cylindrical face first to showing its dimension !
As We can see here, the outer diameter value is "15".
So, "15" for the outer diameter, and there's chamfer feature right here.
We can click this chamfered face !
Ok, so this is the "Chamfer1" feature over here.
And if We click this surface, its have "15" diameter !
Right here, We want to adding an equation that,
if this "15" diameter changed become smaller like 10 or 5,
it will make this "Chamfer1" feature to be inactive or "Unsuppressed".
So, if this outer diameter is smaller than "15", this model will not using the "Chamfer1" feature.
But if this diameter is in "15" or bigger, the "Chamfer1" feature will be activated again.
And to do that, We can use "Equation".
And now, We can adding a new equation from this "Equation" folder, right click this "Equation" folder !
"Manage Equations" !
Then, We can go to this "Features" field, click !
After We click this field, and because We want to adjusting the "Chamfer1" feature,
We can click the "Chamfer1" feature right here !
After We clicked, it will automatically inputted here.
Then, We can input the equations now.
There's already "=",
Then, input "if" !
We can click this one !
So, "if" for what ?
We can move this dialog box first !
Ok, put at this area !
"if" the "15" dimension.
the "15" dimension is the dimension of this cylindrical face, so We can show that dimension first !
We can double click at the "Cylinder" feature or We can double click this cylindrical surface, like this !
Ok, after the "15" dimension has shown, We can go back at this field, click between these "(" & ")" icon !
Ok, so the equations is "if (...)", click this dimension !
"=If( "CylinderDiameter@Sketch1" )",
then, We can press space then input "<" icon !
"15" !
We can move this dialog box again to the bottom like this !
"= if( "CylinderDiameter@Sketch1" < 15...)".
"," !
So, it will be... .
We can go to this "Global Variables" !
Then, click "suppressed" !
So, it will deactivate this "Chamfer1" feature.
And if the opposites, input "," !
If it was bigger, so it will... Click "unsuppress" (active) !
And now, We already get the equation.
"Ok" !
After We clicked "Ok", it was showing an conclusion (evaluates to) of our equations now, "unsuppressed".
Nah, why the conclusion of that equations is "unsuppressed" ?
It's because We are using the "15" diameter for now.
So, because We are still in the "15" diameter, the "Chamfer1" feature were not deactivate (unsuppressed).
After that, We can click "Ok" !
And now, We can try to change this outer diameter.
We can click this surface until its dimension was shown !
And this "15" dimension was defined by our previous "9" Link Value dimension right here.
So, to edit this "15" dimension, We can edit the "9" dimension as the previous "Link Value".
We can click this "Sketch2" !
After this "9" Link value dimension has appeared, We can double click it !
We can change "9" into "14" !
"Enter" !
Then, click "Rebuild" to updating !
Nah, then We can click this surface !
The previous "15" dimension already has changed became "20".
So, this dimension is already bigger than "15" for now.
As We can see here, the "Chamfer1" feature still active.
Then, We can click again the "Sketch2" until it was showing its dimension !
Then, double click this "14" dimension !
We should to change it into smaller amount, from "9" to "7" !
"Enter" !
Then, click "Rebuild" !
Nah, as We can see here, the "Chamfer1" feature was automatically "suppressed" or deactivated.
Then, We can check its dimension by clicking this face !
Nah, the outer diameter dimension has changed became "13" (smaller than "15),
so it will automatically make the "Chamfer1" to be "suppressed".
And if We make it as the previous,
We can click the "Sketch2" !
Double click the "7" dimension !
Input "9" !
"Enter" !
"9".
Then, We can update this model "Rebuild" !
So, this "Chamfer1" feature was back or "unsuppressed".
It's because the outer diameter of this cylindrical face was back in "15".
Ok, so that's it the functions of "Equation".
And now, We will learning about "Configure Feature".
What is "Configure Feature" ?
So, the "Configure Feature/Dimension" will offering us a table that allow to adjusting the configuration easily.
Ok, We can get back to the SolidWorks.
So with this feature, We can create a new configuration also without go to this "Configuration Manager" tab.
We can click this tab first !
At this "Configuration Manager" area, there's no configuration listed beside the "Default".
And if We want to create a new configuration, We can right click at this area !
Then, We should to select "Add Configuration".
But now, We don't want to use this. We can click outside the area to hide this field !
So, We can let this configuration still "Default".
Then, We can go back to the "Feature Manager Design Tree" tab !
And now, We will use "Configure Feature" to create a new configuration.
So, We can create a "Configure Feature/Dimension" with,
Before that, We can click or double click this "Sketch2" to showing its dimension, like this !
Now, We can add the "Configure Feature" from here, We can right click at this dimension !
"Configure Dimension" !
Nah, after there's appears a dialog box like this,
then, We can click at this "Create a new configuration" field !
Ok, so right here, We are creating a new configuration, We can input "M5-6" for the name !
And then, for this "Dimensi Referensi" column for our new configurations, We can click this field !
It's was using the same dimension with the initial dimension value "9".
Then We can create a new configuration again, click this field !
Type "M6-6" for the name !
Then, click this field !
Then We can change this "9" dimension (double click), then block it and change it become "11" !
Then, We can click at this field again to create a new configuration !
Input "M8-6" as the configuration name !
Then, click this field !
Double click !
Block !
Type "14" !
So, We just use "9, 11 & 14" for the dimensions.
Then, We can click at this area to confirm this dimension value was inputted !
Ok, after We create some configurations that have various dimensions, now We will configure the features.
First, We can search the features that We want to configure !
We can click this "Feature Manager Design Tree" tab !
And the feature that We want to configure using this method is this "12 Point" feature, click !
Sorry, double click I mean !
After We double click that feature, it will automatically listed in this table.
So, for this "M5-6" configuration, what will we do for the "12 Point" feature ?
We want to deactivate that feature in this configuration.
So, We just need to checking "Suppress" option at this field, click !
And for the "M6-6 & M8-6" configurations, We want to deactivate that "12 Point" feature too.
Click !
Click !
Ok, so this "12 Point" feature just active in the "Default" configuration because this field was not checked for it.
And after We get the table for the configure dimensions & features like this,
We can named this table.
Click this field !
Then type "Fitur&Dim" for its name like this !
After We defined its name, We can save this table settings by clicking this "Save Table View" !
Ok, after We saved this table, We can click "Apply" !
After that, We can click "Ok" !
So right now, We already have a new configurations that We've been created before.
To check them, We can click at this "Configuration Manager" tab !
Ok, there's listed several configurations, "Default, M5-6, M6-6 & M8-6".
In this "M5-6", We defined the "Dimensi Referensi" same with the "Default", "9".
We can double click !
But, We can go to this "Feature Manager Design Tree" first !
But, this "12 Point" feature was suppressed or deactivated.
Meanwhile, We can back to the "Configuration Manager" tab !
Then, for the "M6-6" (double click to activate the configuration) !
And in this configuration, the "12 Point" feature also already suppressed or deactivated.
Then, for the "M8-6" !
For the "12 Point" feature has already suppressed or deactivated too for this configuration.
So, these dimensions was changed and "12 Point" feature has suppressed, meanwhile for the "Default",
"Configuration Manager" !
"Default", double click !
Then, go back at this tab !
Nah for this configuration, this "12 Point" feature was active.
Ok, so that's it the functions of "Configure Feature/Dimension".
So, to create a configuration or just configuring any dimensions or features that We want.
So, like that.
Ok, now We can save this model !
Press "CTRL+S" !
