The Regulations Trump And Republicans Are Repealing Could Have Saved Your Life - Duration: 4:11.
There was a great new article from Robert Reich that came out this week found on Alternet
where he really lays out the point about the second version of trickle down economics happening
here in the United States that most people aren't even aware is a form of trickle down.
And that is this administration and the Republican parties constant attacks on regulations.
And in his piece, Reich points out something that I've been pointing out for years.
These regulations that we have in place, whether it's from Ocea, the EPA, the FDA, the SCC,
those are all in place to protect American citizens and American workers.
That's it, that is 100% of what these regulations are.
They protect me, they protect you, they protect the average person out there just trying to
go about their daily lives.
And yet they tell us, the Republican party, that we have to kill these regulations.
Why?
Because they're killing small businesses.
That is the number one talking point that they use.
People don't wanna open up a business because there's regulations.
Oh and taxes, yeah they don't wanna pay those either.
That's the other form of trickle down that we've covered quite a bit here.
So they get rid of these regulations and businesses celebrate; not the small businesses cos most
of these regulations have nothing to do with them whatsoever.
The businesses celebrating are businesses like Monsanto and Dow and Dupont and Pfizer
and Merck and all the other companies across the board.
Amazon.
Why?
Because the regulations that are being killed again, were to protect us.
Protect us from corrupt employers, protect us from corporate pollution, protect our air,
our water, our soil, our bodies from any physical harm that would come from these corporations.
They also protected our wallets, so that we wouldn't be subjected to more financial crimes
and scheme like we saw that led up to the 2007, 2008 financial meltdown.
They protect our wallets by forcing employers to pay us overtime if they're making us work
overtime.
Every single thing I just listed is also a regulation that this administration has repealed.
This is not a Trump thing either; this is something that any other Republican president
would have done.
And to be honest there's a lot of Democrats who would do the same thing.
They seem to support this.
Why?
Because again this is just another form of trickle down just like Robert Reich points
out.
Because the only people who save anything when we cut regulations are corporations.
They save money.
They no longer have to handle their toxic waste in a certain way, they can just dump
it wherever the hell they want.
Other corporations don't have to go through testing processes for the products or drugs
they put out.
We cut those back.
So now dangerous pharmaceuticals make it the market.
Other companies don't have to pay us overtime anymore.
Yeah you can work 60 per week but you're not gonna get that time and half like you had
been.
Oh we're also getting rid of just safety protections for workers who work in factories or out in
fields so that hey, if you get mangled by a piece of machinery on the job.
Oops should have kept your hands out of there.
We don't want your employer to have to pay for safety gear or to make these machines
a little safer so you can't stick your hand in there.
That what's happening in the United States today.
Ten years ago this was a uniquely Republican thing.
It was Republican's always telling us that we had to repeal these regulations cos they
were strangling businesses out of existence.
And today they're doing it, they're enacting it.
But it is also important to remember that there's quite a few Democrats working in DC
right now and plenty on the pundit circle who think that this is just a-okay because
after all they're getting that corporate money too.
Not as much as the Republicans are getting, but it's starting to climb up there.

transferring to uc berkeley (and learning to love myself) - Duration: 23:28.
i'm about to talk about my life
woooooooo
hello my frens it's nina and for this video
I am going to talk about my life
and I'm just gonna keep talking and talking
and talking and talking
So if you're familiar with my channel at all
then you would know that I go to UC Berkeley
I've mentioned it here and there I'm pretty sure you guys
know that I go to UC Berkeley
i hope you do
if not, I do go to UC Berkeley
I never talk about it, which is strange because
you know, it's my school
But I've never actually addressed like my experience
going to use Berkeley or anything
like I have college related videos
i have studying videos
but I never directly talked about being at UC Berkeley.
I think I've also mentioned
Yeah, I'm pretty sure we all know
that I'm a transfer student
which means I went to community college for two years
and then I transferred to UC Berkeley after those two years
I wasn't at UC Berkeley for four entire years
I was here for literally a year
So I feel like a second year.
I feel like a sophomore, but I'm actually a senior now
I'm on my fourth year of college in its entirety
yes
so anyway
I
am going to finally talk about all of it
get a drink get a refreshment because I'm going to talk so much
because my
experience getting into UC Berkeley was such a long process
this video I'm warning you is not really a
how to get into UC Berkeley
because honestly
I still don't really know how anything happened
it all just kind of fell into place
as I tell my story
it'll all make sense
but this isn't really a tips video
so if you're looking for that
just X out of this tab, just
Completely don't watch this video
because this video is going to go to many places.
But anyway without further ado
I'm just gonna get started
There's no organized structure to this video
But I will start from high school
because that's kind of where everything started
in high school i was a pretty-
for the first few years I was a very shy person
I was very to myself and very timid
You know still going through some things
the first two years of high school really was just me
trying to you know
be a little more confident
but by the time I was a junior
senior that's kind of when I became this more
carefree
a little more social less shy person
That's the best way I can put it
so junior year slash
senior year of high school is really when I was starting to prepare for college
I was taking the PSAT
I was taking the SAT
I was taking all these AP exams for credit
so I was really trying my best to get to a college
so throughout my life
I always heard that going to university was the plan and so
community college, even though I went to community college,
it actually wasn't a plan til literally the last
minute and I'll get to that later but
going to
university was always the plan for me
just because that's how I grew up
my aunt, who went to UC Berkeley, that's how she did things
my dad my mom they both went to university after high school
Actually, my dad went to art school after high school
so not university, art school
But basically my entire family and my friends
and everything my social just everything
it was always college right after high school
So that's kind of what was normal for me
So I was always preparing for
university
even though my own parents didn't go to a University of California, a UC
I wanted to go to a UC just because that's kind of what everyone wanted to do
Everyone wanted to go to a UC
Obviously, there are Ivy leagues and all that but
I already knew that I just wasn't at that level
So I just aimed for UCs and whatever
universities were around me
So I applied for a lot of
universities
just because you
want to apply to every single college at the time
because you're like I need to get into one of these schools
So I'm gonna apply for all of them and they're-
one of them has to accept me that kind of thing
And so I was, I literally just applied for so many schools.
I even applied for a lot of common app places
I really just at the time really thought
that I could get into these schools.
I was still in my head thinking
Oh, I've done my best.
I've done everything that I possibly could
I should get into a good school
throughout high school
I performed well, I got A's and B's and all that
I took all these AP classes
why wouldn't a university accept me?
so even though I was struggling a lot with the
application because I was finally coming to terms with
who I was and all that
I was answering all these questions
that I've never asked myself before
it was a hard time, but I I still thought that oh, yeah
I'm gonna get into one of these schools
and then after I sent my application
A few months later
I got the results and
they were not
good.
I did get rejected by all of my dream schools
and all of the back-up schools
that I thought were backups
those became the only viable options
and then I was suddenly coming face to face with
who I actually was
and I actually realized
oh, life doesn't always go your way i guess
so now I was at a very
weird place in my life.
I was really starting to question my life
which I haven't done before
because throughout high school
I had this sort of you know, go-with-the-flow
personality
but that
that kind of affected the way I viewed myself and viewed life
that was kind of just a sort of
coping mechanism for me to not
actually think about my life
and not think about who I actually am as a person
not actually think about the underlying
problems in my life
the underlying
insecurities that I still carried, all that
I didn't want to deal with it
and so
I kind of always distracted myself from myself
Even though I am this introvert
looking back when I was in high school
I really didn't spend that much time by myself honestly
back then I was constantly surrounded by people
I was constantly surrounded by my friends
I was constantly just doing things away from here
away from my inner being
because I will always distracted
I never really took the time to think about
what I wanted for my future
I never really thought about that
and because
my parents really didn't push me to
go to some prestigious university all that
because they were always just like do whatever you want to do
but that kind of confused me because I was like, what do I want to do?
I completely did this application and
really just wasn't in this mindset
It was just a very rough time emotionally
it was like this weird feeling of
feeling like I let people down but also
I kind of knew this was going to happen
it was like I knew that I
didn't perform as well as I could
I could have done more extracurriculars
But I always prevented myself
because of my insecurities
and because of my social anxiety and all that
and so I always thought
I could have done better, but I just didn't
it was just a weird time of self blame
but also blaming other people
I just was kind of detached from everything that was happening.
And so
Later on
I realized one of my friends was going to community college and
community college was always something that I heard about but
I never really thought about it
because again
going to
university that was always the plan
and when I heard that she was going to community college
that's when I started to think about
what if I went to community college?
I didn't really think of applying for university
after community college as an option
I never really thought about that
because I always thought oh, yeah
I'm just gonna go straight to university right after high school
once I found out that my friend is doing that
that's when I started to really question
what I was going to do in the future
i was really just at a crossroads
just after a lot of thinking
I decided to go to community college
I looked at the factors of it
being financially a better choice
I thought about how
it would be a second chance for me because
I didn't get into the universities that I wanted
and that's because I messed up my
college application
I just realized finally that I just wasn't ready to go to a university
because I
I really just needed to come to
terms with who I was
I needed to have an epiphany
emotionally mentally just everything i wasn't ready for it
so I decided to go to a community college
literally at the last minute
i thought my parents would be upset or disappointed
but when I told them that I wanted to go to a community college
it was a very emotional time
my parents were thinking that
I think they thought that
going to university was what I wanted (i was a very independent child)
and at the time I really just thinking about it
I didn't really know what I wanted
and so they were kind of emotional that I was deciding to let go of university
and go to a community college
and so they were kind of emotional about that in a good way
they were like
oh, she's going to make this sacrifice and start over
and that's when it kind of hit me that
this is going to be a new chapter in my life
it's not the path that i wanted to take, but it's a new path
i decided I'm not going to go to a university that i'm half-hearted about
I'm going to go to community college
figure things out
really evaluate my life really evaluate myself
and then just start over
when I was in high school
I was surrounded by the same people that I grew up with
and so I kind of always
acted like the same person that I was
when I was in community college
that was the first time that I was really just by myself
I didn't see a lot of people that I knew
my friends were all over the state
all over the country
maybe even outside of the country
for the first time
I was on my own
I wasn't being dependent on my friends for anything
I really had to experience being by myself
in high school i never really went to the root of my problems
I always just looked at it from the surface
And I never really found out why I'm so afraid of something
why I'm so insecure about something
I never looked at the root of why I felt this way
I always just deal with it at the surface
i was like oh if you just don't care
if you just act like this, then you'll be fine
but it never really went to the underlying root of the problem
which is basically how you can deal with these things.
I can get to all that in another video because that is all about really
self-acceptance and self-love and that kind of stuff
and it was a really long journey
that I could talk about in another video
but basically I went through all of that
during my two years of community college
because I was finally coming to terms with my capabilities
I was finally just being my own person now in community college
one of the things that I can talk about is how I viewed myself
academically, basically in school
I always had this sort of insecurity where I
thought that everyone around me was smarter than me
I didn't challenge myself because I felt like I wasn't going to get to the level of my peers
I always thought I'm just going to be here you can do whatever
When I was in a group project
I would let everyone else really take control
and I would just be there and try my best
and so I was kind of
not very
secure about myself in that way.
I never really thought of myself as a genius
I never thought of myself as really like
I never thought of myself as someone who can be a leader
I was kind of always holding myself back in high school
because I was surrounded by people who I thought
were very smart very
successful
and so I was just kind of like
hi
but once I was in community college
and once I was finally by myself
and once I was with people who didn't know who I was
i finally was able to kind of be myself
not feel this pressure to hold back
I didn't have this feeling that people were going to judge me
when I was in community college
I found myself taking more risks
I even applied for classes that I didn't think I was ever going to apply for
I willingly applied for public speaking
even though I don't really like
or at the time I didn't really like
speaking in front of people
and then for one of my classes we had this class field trip where I would have to be with
my classmates for like a few days away from home
and I was like, I'm gonna go to that
I literally just was
finally becoming this person that I kind of always held back
I was taking more risks and I would participate more in group projects
sometimes I would take control of group projects and
I was finally
just realizing that I am capable of
being in a more leader-like position
in high school when I was doing my college applications
That was kind of my wake-up call
when I realized that life doesn't go my way and I really have to start thinking about it
if I want to get to better places
and high school
I never really took the time to really sit with myself and think "what do I want with my future?"
I kind of didn't really see a future for me in high school
I was just kind of like
I just want to get through each day and just kind of deal with it
Just hope that something good happens.
I learned so much. Not only
academically, but I learned so much about myself
and I became a lot more confident in myself.
I wasn't always looking at myself in such a deprecating lens
I was actually appreciating the good things about myself.
I was looking at successes I actually did have
instead of always looking at what I lacked
or instead of always looking at what I was bad at
instead of always looking at that
I was finally beginning to look at what I was capable of doing
Because
I always was just more used to putting myself here
instead of bringing myself up
I finally accepted that I can grow
and I accepted that I can learn and I can be a better person
I don't have to always put myself here
I can actually go to newer places.
Sorry. I had to change the battery
I finally went into my second round of college applications with a new lens
just a different way I viewed myself
because back in high school when I was applying for college
I still had this negative lens about myself
that when I was writing essays about myself
I wasn't really focused on writing things that I had to offer
It kind of became like a diary
really for my essays
where I was just describing everything that I lacked
describing everything I went through that kind of stuff
not really coming up with like how I grew out of it
that kind of thing
because at the time I didn't grow out of it
I was still this
person with all these
insecurities and all that and so
that kind of reflected in my college applications that I still didn't know what I wanted
and my college application was honestly all over the place
I didn't have this narrative of what I wanted the colleges to see me as a person
because I didn't know who I was
I finally was just at a place
where I could think about myself positively
I only applied it to three schools
for community colleges there was this transfer admission guarantee program plan thing
for one of the universities
So I did that with UC Davis and then I applied for UCLA and UC Berkeley
I only applied to those three schools because since high school
those were basically the only three schools that I would have wanted to go into
they're really really great schools
and so I was really really confident
now I was just more sure myself and I was like
I'm gonna get into one of these schools because I actually did work harder this time.
I sent in my application.
I definitely did so much better on my essays.
I actually showed myself to these colleges
I sent that application in and
I got into all three of the universities that I applied to
My first acceptance letter was from UC Davis
and I got in because of the transfer admission guarantee and all that
from the get-go I knew that I had like a 99% chance of getting to UC Davis
which I was very excited about bc I was rejected from UC Davis as a senior in high school
That was the first acceptance letter that I got and I was really happy about it
but then
I got my acceptance letter for UCLA and
I was just crying so much
I got rejected from UCLA and then two years later
I got accepted
I was just really emotional and I was hugging my entire family.
It was just very cathartic
I was at a better place in my life
and it was just all so new to me
and then a few days or weeks later
I got the acceptance letter for UC Berkeley
and I was just on top of the world
But for some reason even though UC Berkeley had been my dream school
since I ever first heard about UC Berkeley
I cried more and was more emotional about UCLA's acceptance letter than UC Berkeley
But that was just probably because I was so shocked that UCLA
accepted me that I kind of gained this confidence like
oh, so now UC Berkeley's gonna accept me
it was just like aHH
so as you can tell I did choose UC Berkeley
after much thought
but thinking about it at heart I am just a Berkeley person.
I was born in Berkeley so it's just like a full circle
but now a year passed since I chose UC Berkeley
now I am going to start my fourth year of college
or my second year at Cal
I'm a senior
I'm already almost done with my journey in college
when I was in high school I really just
I didn't really see a future for me
I didn't really think my life was going to change so much
I didn't really think my was capable of changing so much
I thought I was going to be stuck in this one place for a very long time
It may sound like I snapped and just suddenly started to love myself
suddenly started to think about myself
but it was a really long process
but because of that process I was able to put my best foot forward
in my college applications after community college
do I wish that I went to a university straight after high school?
I may have wished that but looking at it now
I'm very thankful that I had these two years to finally look at my life
to wake up and to just think about who I was as a person
Some people have probably already figured themselves out by the time senior year of high school came around.
I personally needed this time
I knew I wasn't ready for university
but because I was pressuring myself to get into university
just because all my friends were going and just because I thought that was what I should do
I pressured myself to get into a university even though I really just wasn't prepared
I just didn't know I wasn't prepared
I don't regret anything that happened
even though I was very saddened that I got rejected by these schools at the time
if I wasn't rejected by those schools
I never would have had this wake-up call
and I never would have had to question my life
and I never would have had to question myself as a person
even though those rejections were saddening
and I went through periods of time that were pretty upsetting
I wouldn't change anything, honestly
I'm thankful for how everything turned out
I wouldn't do it again
but I'm glad that everything happened
because now I'm a senior in college and I'm almost done
I don't know how much I'm going to change this year
but it'll be exciting
So that is my experience getting into UC Berkeley
if I could offer any advice from this video to apply to a university
it is just to
try to find yourself before you dedicate 2 to 4+ years of your life in college
going to university it's very fast-paced
so you don't really get this time to really be by yourself and really think about what you want
A lot of my friends who went straight into university they changed their majors they changed their plans
we're constantly changing
so it's just like does anyone know what they're doing right after high school?
we're always changing
and so
I just hope that everyone can have this period of time where they can
really be by themselves and ask what they want
because
if we're just going through our fast paced lives
not even thinking about what we truly want
we're going to constantly be lost
I'm definitely still finding myself
I'm not like completely
100% satisfied with where I am
even though I'm not where I want to be
I at least know that I can get somewhere
because I'm not putting myself down
I'm finally letting myself just grow because I deserve to
I feel like everyone deserves to grow
just know that it's not going to always be a positive experience
and there's always going to be bumps in the road
but from my experience
these bumps in the road led to something else
when I'm in that bump in the road
it feels very negative and it feels like I'm helpless and I'm not gonna get anywhere
but time passes and you're somewhere else
I'm at the school that I wanted to be at since I was a child
If you view yourself with all these insecurities
you're not going to put your best foot forward
and you're just
it's going to be hard to move on in your life
and it's going to be hard to get to a different place
everyone has something to offer
it doesn't have to be on a global scale
it doesn't have to change the world
It doesn't have to be Nobel Prize winning
but everyone has something to offer
Everyone is good at something
we should be proud of the little things we do
as long as we're not hurting anyone I think that existing is great on its own.
I may not be a genius
I may not be a Nobel Prize winning person
I may not change the entire world
but in my life I can do something
I am capable of doing things and
I shouldn't always hold myself back because of things that happened in the past
I should view myself in a more uplifting lens
but I also want to say that
everyone's path is different
you don't have to go to college to have an epiphany
you don't have to do this or that to be happy
everyone has a different path
just find what makes you know yourself more
and just find what's comfortable for you
because everyone's different
some people don't need college
some people don't need this or that
whatever is the best for you
whatever's best for your growth as a person, do that.
make sure you do your research
just choose what is best for you
because everyone deserves to grow and be the best person they can be
but this is my experience
and for anyone else who does plan to go to college
if you want to go to community college
I would recommend it
If you don't have an idea of what you're doing
if you aren't sure of what you're going to do
then I would definitely recommend community college
but if you want to go to a university
Go ahead
just do what helps you grow the most
but yea that is it for this video
this video was very long as I said
I hope you enjoyed your water or your tea or your iced coffee
But I hope this video was helpful in some kind of way
And yeah that is it for this video.
I am starting college in a week from when I filmed this
I don't know how it's going to go
maybe in like a month or two I might look back at this video
and I'm gonna be like, dang Nina was so happy
I'm thankful for my
experience and I'm thankful for everything that I have
that is it for this video?
I wish you the best of luck in your endeavors
whether that is college or not college high school or not high school
whatever it is
I hope you grow and learn and become the best person you can be
and I will see you in my next video
Yes, I am going in for a hug

5 Comfortable & Slimming Clothing Items I'm Hiding, Fashion & Style for Women - Duration: 12:35.
Hey awesome ones. So hidden underneath this clothing are things and accessories
to help kind of hide my little tummy bulge and other things and also help me
to have a really comfy day. So what's hidden underneath my clothing? I'll get
to that in just a few seconds.
So what do I have underneath all of this? Well my new number one comfy and keeping
it all tucked in item, is strappy shapewear. What!! Yep,
well I know you know that I have had the shapewear that goes up to my waist and
it's been fantastic it's been great for a lot of things, but truth be told I went
to a gala not too long ago and I was dancing and sweating and all that sort
of thing and all of a sudden that high-waisted shapewear, which really
hasn't done this before with normal outings, started rolling down and I've
got like an extra five inches around my waist because this thing has decided to
roll all the way down. And you know what? Yeah I can't really sit there on the
dance floor and start readjusting, like it just doesn't work. So what I found is,
and you can get these in all different colors,
the strappy and what I like about this one is your actual bra goes through this
part in the front. So right in here you can wear still you're most comfortable
bra, it's....it's really great in as you can see. It's got the panel's front and back
that holds you quite well in. So if I were you and if you're going someplace
and you just don't want to take a chance on the roll down get yourself one of
these strappy shapewares. Okay so the second comfy item that I'm wearing. I
just took my shoes off so I'm not wearing them right now, but anyway our
shoes with comfiness built right into them. Now take a look at these shoes.
You've got the the ball of your feet cushions you have a little bit of arch
support here they're absolutely fabulous. I have a few
pairs of these and usually you find them in, well the comfy foot
store. You guys probably know the....the ones that.....these are Rockport's that I
have right here, but there's all kinds of stores that sell this sort of thing. Now
maybe these kind of shoes are a little too pricey for you and yes, I can't sort
of have every one of my shoes all these. So what I do is....I just hold on for a
second, I'll be back. Oh wait....this is live, anyway what I do is I buy the
inserts. All right now these ones happen to be sports ones, these are for my
running shoes and what I do is I take the insides out of my running shoes and
then if you can see here you've got a lot of Gellin going on.
You also have that little lift there for your arch support and these are like
amazing and there's even a machine there where they sort of help you pick these
up. Now I've also found that if I have, these boots are notorious for this, this
pair of boots I love these little granny boots, but boy when my foot hits the
bottom of this it is so uncomfortable. So I get these little gels, you saw them
built into the Rockport's, they're these little gels there I think they're by the
same company Dr. Scholl's and you put them into this part of your shoe and now
when you're walking around you're not just sort of hitting the ball of your
foot and like going ouch ouch ouch. Now the other thing is let's just say that
I'm trying on these boots, what I would do is ask the people if the insert comes
out and if it does not come out then I would, you know, definitely bring my
inserts with me and sort of think to myself okay well let's put the insert in
and see what size i need. You might need a half a size larger so don't find that
out after the fact, just make sure that you do that. Sorry for my.....I'm just
melting here in the Sun, but I'm gonna get this video done for you and show you
all these tricks and just excuse the fact that I'm meltintg. Number three in just a
second. So the number three item that I'm
wearing underneath my clothing right now is the camisole and I know I've talked
about how the camisole kind of brings everything in, but you're probably going
wait a minute she's wearing that strappy shapewear. Well there's another reason
why I like to wear my camisole and oh just let me just show you.
I've got camisole in all kinds of colors here. I've got white and red and purple
and that's kind of like for blue jeans. I also have pink and a whole bunch of
other colors, but I just wanted to say that right now what I have on underneath
my outfit right here and I think what I'll do is I'll just sort of put this
down for a second there, and kind of tell you why I'm wearing a camisole today.
Well because I like wearing tops that are a little bit lower, but we never want
the girls kind of, you know what I'm talking about right. So underneath here
it's my secret it's my camisole it's very very thin weight and I love it
because if I am out there dancing around I don't have to worry if it gets down to
that point I'm kind of covered up and it means a lot that I am. The other thing I
like about all the different colors is let's just say that I was going for a
kind of....I was wearing my purple purse let's say. Well I might just put my
purple camisole on under this and have that little touch of purple showing up
or maybe I'm going for you know the white and black kind of look. I might
just have a little touch of the white showing there and you know maybe I'm
wearing a white purse or whatever and I'm just kind of coordinating so the
camisole really really helps with that. Now a lot of you are saying oh my gosh
Heather, where can I get these lightweight camisoles and what we try to
do on every video is in the description, we put a link back to our blog and we
try really really hard to find the exact one. I think we were pretty good at
finding the exact lightweight in the white and black that I was
showing you there and what we try to do is if we can't find it exactly we try to
find something that's similar. And by the way I am required to tell you that we
make a little bit of Commission if you do get something from our blog, but you
know I'm kind of glad I get to tell you that because a big big thank you, thank
you for everybody that goes back to the blog and purchases something and a lot
of times it's on Amazon so you're getting your groceries I mean I'm just
like oh my gosh these guys are coming to our site every time I think that they
want to just buy something from Amazon and they're supporting the channel and
we just, oh we're just so grateful for that and thank you, you know what, it
helps to keep us making the videos and we want to thank you at this point for
all of your support on that. So number four is the wrap around dress. I just
love the wraparound dress. And let me just show you what I mean. It's got a
little panel here that's the wraparound part and let's just say that you're out
for dinner and you've had, I don't know, you just finished dessert and I....I don't
know about you, but I get so bloated like it's, so having this little extra panel
in front of me really really makes me happy. Now this one doesn't have a tie on
the side but a lot of them have a tie on the side so this is kind of stretchy
material so we're pretty good, but if you do have a tie on the side you can always
go to the washroom and let it out a little bit if you know what I mean after
that dessert. So just love the wraparound dress for hiding our tummies and our
little bulges. So my fifth comfy kind of item and I know I've mentioned this
before, but it really bears repeating is my stretchy belt. You can see how it just
sort of added a little bit more to this outfit, it kind of makes the earrings
kind of pop as well and I, I have a hard time finding these stretchy belts in the
Stores. So I will link again as I said in the description back to our blog
where we have found them. I have found them in the thicker kind of thing like
this. So stretchy and I've also find them in the very thin and you know I don't
get it. Why do we have to wear like a leather belt with holes here and here
when we're kind of here. So either the belt is falling down or
we're totally uncomfortable and it's so constricting.... where our stretchy belts
whether they're here or down here or wherever they are, just keep us kind of
tucked in and comfy and like I said so many times you're in a restaurant and
it's like so go ahead I'm wearing my stretchy belt. So there you have it. I
kind of got dolled up for you guys today because I wanted to show all of the
items in in one kind of look and and let's sort of just recap some of the
things that we've learned. You can buy those high-heeled shoes you know when
you're saying that oh no the balls of my feet are really sore. Covered that. Your
arches, we covered that. We also covered the shapewear with the straps I mean
this was a great thing that I found. I absolutely love that one. You know what
you might have a pair of jeans or something just so uncomfortable, but your
stretchy belt it really helps to keep everything up and all that. Oh the
camisole!! Yep go for those kind of low-cut tops and low-cut dresses. Just go
for it and just sort of keep your little cami underneath there and of course the
the wraparound dresses. I mean they started I think in the 70s and they are
just fantastic. It's a nice look and it's also a really fantastic thing to
have. So and I think I think we covered them all, but until next time, oh wait a
minute we're forgetting somebody who's always in our videos. So we know you love
little Hurricane and Hurricane is so full of kisses and
I know he loves you guys too and he's starting to get....Hurricane what are you
smelling? Oh he's going on guard I think for a second, but anyway you know we know
you love Hurricane and Bill and I and we love our subscribers so much and as you
know we're doing the beauty and fashion on Fridays and then we're also doing the
lifestyle fun travel food that sort of thing on Tuesdays. And if you want to
make sure that you get the videos and you see them, if you're a subscriber
there's a bell down there, you just click on the bell and you make sure that
you're not missing any of them. So Hurricane's a little bit hot. It's super
super hot outside today and I hope this video helped you, it
helped you to be very very comfy and
awesome and all of the things that you all are. So until next time keep it
awesome. We'll see you later. Everyone's invited to subscribe and join us on our

The cookie thief. Dedicated to mum. - Duration: 6:45.
I have a poem for you today. One that you might relate to
Hi, my name is Christine L Conroy
Welcome to happy stuff and fluff, a channel for women over 50 who are getting happy and growing younger
If this is your first visit to the channel welcome
Please consider subscribing and remember to hit the little bell so that you're notified when a new video comes out
If it is your first visit
I'm going to read some poetry today, which is not something I usually do, but this has special significance for me
I hope you enjoy it and that it might
Give you something to think about too. And I'm also dedicating it to my mum Betty
I'll just quickly give you the background
to this poem.
Mum passed away in 1999 and she died with cancer
but before she died, she told us, the family, that she wanted to die at home and
She was treated at home and that's what happened and me and my siblings were able to
Take turns in spending time with her now
If you've read my book, Stitch your own silver linings, you will be aware that my teenage life was
somewhat turbulent and mum and I
kind of didn't rub along quite so well in those days, but as we got older and time went on we
We got better at it
And by the time she passed away we became quite close, but the nice thing was that on those nights that I spent with mum
We were able to talk through a lot of our issues if you like and had some great
conversations and one of those nights mum was talking about regrets and
She talked about the fact that she felt she'd harshly judged someone
As it turned out wrongly and so we had this great conversation about times where we think we're right
Very often very often we're not right at all. And
So that was that and it was it was a good fun night and then a few days later
I heard Wayne Dyer read this poem and I thought, 'Oh mum would love that. I'm sure she'd appreciate that'
So I wrote it out
this poem and put it in my bag ready to read to mum when
Next time it was my turn to spend time with her. Now, unfortunately
Mom deteriorated quite quickly and I never got the opportunity to read this poem to her
so I'm gonna read it today and dedicate it to
Betty, my mom because I know I'll she'll be somewhere
listening and I want to share it with you. Don't worry. It isn't a tearjerker
It's called the cookie thief and it's by Valerie Cox
So a woman was waiting at an airport one night with several long hours before her flight
So she hunted for a book in the airport shops and bought a bag of cookies and found a place to drop
She was engrossed in her book, but happened to see
That the man sitting beside her as bold as could be
Grabbed a cookie or two from the bag in between which tried to ignore to avoid a scene
So she munched the cookies and watch the clock as the gutsy cookie thief diminished her stock
She was getting more irritated as the minutes ticked by, thinking,' If I wasn't so nice, I'd blacken his eye'
With each cookie she took, he took one too. When only one was left she wondered what he'd do
With a smile on his face and a nervous laugh
He took the last cookie and broke it in half
He offered her half as he ate the other
She snatched it from him and thought, Oh brother. This guy has some nerve and he's also rude why didn't even show any gratitude.'
She'd never known when she felt so galled and sighed with relief when her flight was called
She gathered her belongings and headed to the gate
Refusing to look back at the thieving ingrate
She boarded the plane and sank in her seat and
Then she sought her book which was almost complete. As she reached in her baggage
She gasped with surprise
There was her bag of cookies in front of her eyes
if
Mine are here
She moaned in despair, the others were his and he tried to share
Too late to apologize. She realized with grief
That she was the rude one, the ingrate the thief.
How fantastic is that
And I know mums listening to that somewhere. It will have brought a smile to her face
if you
haven't heard that before and you enjoyed it. Give me a thumbs up
Well, even if you have heard it before. In fact, in 1999 when I heard it
it wasn't very well known but it's out there now . You can even get
There's even a film I think a short film
around it and you can, on YouTube I'll leave a link if I find it,
listen to Wayne Dyer, himself, reading that poem, no doubt a hundred times better than I can
But I still enjoy reading it now. How many times do we think we are,
absolutely for certain
100 percent right only to find out well, hopefully to find out later down the line that actually
We weren't right at all - we were very wrong?
Think it's fantastic
So that's the Cookie thief by Valerie Cox and thank you for listening to that with me
Whilst I dedicate it to my mum
Okay, thank you so much for listening to me
once again
You know how much I appreciate you and I look forward to seeing you next time. Until then, remember
That on the happy stuff and fluff. We are getting happy and growing younger
See you next time

How Plastic Is Affecting ALL of us! - Duration: 11:58.
Here are some of the worst effects plastic has on us and our planet!
10 - The Great Pacific Garbage Patch The Great Pacific Garbage Patch is the largest
of the five offshore plastic accumulation zones in the world's oceans.
It's located halfway between Hawaii and California.
It's estimated that 1.15 to 2.41 MILLION tons of plastic are entering the ocean each
year from rivers.
The stronger, more buoyant plastics show resilience in the marine environment, allowing them to
be transported over extended distances.
The trash persist at the sea surface as they make their way offshore, transported by converging
currents and finally accumulating in the patch.
Once these plastics enter the patch, they're unlikely to leave the area until they degrade
into smaller microplastics under the effects of sun, waves, and marine life.
The center of the garbage patch has the highest density of trash and the further boundaries
are the least dense.
That definitely makes sense right?!
9 - Whose Pollution?
It turns out that five countries are the leading contributors to this crisis.
And all are in Asia.
In a recent report, Ocean Conservancy claims that China, Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand,
and Vietnam are spewing out as much as 60 percent of the plastic waste that enters the
world's seas.
So how did a few Asian countries, many of them comparatively poor, end up churning out
much of the plastic waste that swirls around the seas?
As Asian economies rise, people have more cash to blow on Marlboros and Sprites at 7-Eleven.
But the junk these habits produce often doesn't end up in legit landfills.
In the five Asian countries listed above, only about 40 percent of garbage is properly
collected.
Across Asia, trash is often piled up in communal dumps where stray bits are swept up by the
wind and cast into the ocean.
Even sanctioned garbage dump sites are supposedly sometimes intentionally set up near rivers
that flow into the sea.
Apparently, the owners of these dumps are hoping that the waste will intermittently
be carried away by heavy rains or current, refreshing the capacity of the dump to receive
more waste.
8 - Birds Between entanglement, ingestion, and marine
ecosystem damage, the threat of plastic pollution impacts marine species both large and small
— but let's not forget our friends in the sky.
Scientists have been tracking plastic ingestion by seabirds for decades.
In 1960, plastic was found in the stomachs of fewer than 5 percent of birds, but by 1980,
that number had jumped to 80 percent.
For example, the Albatross is severely affected by the human-created plastics problem.
One might argue that it's intensified because of the way albatross catch their food.
They skim the surface of the water with their beak and along the way, they mistakenly pick
up a lot of floating plastic.
This plastic is then fed to their chicks.
Adults can regurgitate plastic they've swallowed, but chicks are unable to, so it fills up their
stomachs.
New generations of albatross chicks are struggling to survive because of starvation from being
filled with plastic or critical damage that occurs to their gastrointestinal tracts.
The highest concentration of plastic in birds can be found in populations in southern Australia,
South Africa, and South America -- where coastlines are closest to loosely-concentrated collections
of ocean debris in the southern Pacific, southern Atlantic, and Indian Oceans.
7 - Rivers Our seas are choking on plastic.
A staggering eight MILLION metric tons wind up in oceans every year, and unraveling exactly
how it gets there is critical.
A recent study estimates that more than a quarter of all that waste could be pouring
in from just 10 rivers, eight of them in Asia.
The results found by Environmental Science & Technology, show that rivers collectively
dump anywhere from 0.47 million to 2.75 million metric tons of plastic into the seas every
year, depending on the data used in the models.
10 rivers carry 93 percent of trash.
The Yangtze, Yellow, Hai, Pearl, Amur, Mekong, Indus and Ganges Delta are in Asia.
The Niger and Nile Rivers are in Africa.
The Yangtze river alone dumps up to an estimated one and a half million metric tons of plastic
waste into the Yellow Sea!
These rivers all have two things in common.
One is the generally high population living in the surrounding region and the other is
less than ideal waste management processes in place around the rivers.
The Yangtze is Asia's longest river and is also one of world's biggest carriers
of plastic pollution to the ocean.
6 - Human Health Plastics can be made from a selection of many
different chemicals, depending on the application.
Many of these substances aren't bound to the chemical chain of the plastic, which means
that they can migrate under different circumstances as small as a change in temperature or light.
Toxic ingredients can evaporate into the air and be breathed in.
They can readily absorb into the skin.
These chemicals can leach into food or drink and then be ingested.
Let's see, what are some examples?
Breathing near plastic trash being burned, opening a new plastic item that releases a
strong odor, drinking hot coffee from a Styrofoam cup, reusing a water bottle, or eating food
microwaved in a plastic container.
Any of these common practices allow chemicals from plastic to migrate easily into our body.
Plastic comes in many forms but there's general consensus that while while plastics
are essential to our daily lives, there are serious concerns about its effects on human
health.
5 - Microplastic and Ocean Life Microplastics come from a variety of sources,
including from larger plastic debris that degrades into smaller and smaller pieces.
In addition, microbeads, a type of microplastic, are very tiny pieces of manufactured polyethylene
plastic that are added as exfoliants to health and beauty products, such as soap and toothpastes.
These tiny particles easily pass through water filtration systems and end up in the ocean
and Great Lakes, posing a potential threat to aquatic life.
Microplastic debris floating in the world's oceans could be having a massive impact on
marine life.
Tiny bits of plastic are having an impact on lugworms, which are an important source
of food for many animals.
If ocean sediments are heavily contaminated with microplastics, marine lugworms eat less
and their energy levels suffer.
Also, ingesting microplastic can also reduce the health of lugworms by delivering harmful
chemicals.
Ingesting the tiny particles can prevent some animals from consuming their natural prey,
leading to starvation.
4 - Bisphenol A Bisphenol A, or BPA, is a chemical used to
make plastics.
More precisely, BPA is used to harden plastics, keep bacteria from contaminating foods, and
prevent cans from rusting.
It's widely used in sports equipment, water bottles, medical devices, and as a coating
in food and beverage cans.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention found measurable amounts of BPA in the bodies
of more than 90 percent of the U.S. population studied.
The highest estimated daily intakes of BPA occur in infants and children.
BPA is more likely to leach out of plastic when its temperature is increased, such as
when someone warms up food in the microwave or warms up a baby bottle.
In 2012, the FDA banned the use of BPA in baby bottles, after several large manufacturers
had already voluntarily removed it.
Before the voluntary removal and the ban, most plastic baby bottles contained BPA.
But even with the ban in baby bottles, two recent studies show that newborns are still
being exposed to the chemical.
Infants may be exposed to BPA before they're born because of the exposures to BPA by their
moms!
3 - Recycling Of the 8.3 billion metric tons of plastic
that's been estimated to have been produced, an estimated 6.3 billion metric tons has become
plastic waste.
Only 9% of the waste has been recycled.
The vast majority is accumulating in landfills or in the natural environment as litter.
In order to tackle the waste problem, we either don't use plastic, or we figure out better
recycling methods.
Many people are often confused by the terms, "break down" versus "biodegradable".
When plastics are broken down, this means one large piece of plastic is reduced into
a bunch of smaller pieces of plastic.
These smaller pieces of plastic can be consumed by smaller animals, but obviously they're
still indigestible.
A minority of plastics are "biodegradable", which means they can be reduced to their chemical
components by, say, your home compost.
Other plastics can only be successfully composted by industrial or municipal facilities after
first being separated from other, non-biodegradable, plastics.
Unfortunately, most people are confused as to which plastics fall into which category,
along with the fact that some areas don't make it convenient to recycle, so many people
ultimately don't recycle at all.
2 - Sea Turtles To sea turtles, a plastic bag looks like a
tasty jellyfish.
A lost fishing net might look like some harmless seaweed.
Because of this confusion, plastic causes roughly a thousand marine turtle passings
each year.
They can lead to a number of environmental problems.
Plastics are especially dangerous for marine animals, as they can become entangled or they
can accidentally ingest plastic while feeding.
Digestive tracts can become blocked, which can lead to starvation.
Plastic straws can also end up in a turtle's nose, obviously blocking breathing.
Sea turtle buoyancy disorders, commonly referred to as "bubble butts," are also a growing
issue.
This condition is often caused by trapped gas inside the turtle's digestive system.
The harmful decomposition of marine debris is believed to be the cause of many of these
cases.
Sea turtles that cannot properly submerge in water will have trouble feeding and become
more vulnerable to boat strikes, predation and entanglements.
1 - Plastic Straws
You guys have heard about the plastic straw ban right?
Because of their size, plastic straws can literally slip through the cracks when going
through the recycling process.
They often end up in the ocean, where they can do damage to sea creatures who mistake
them for food, such as the sea turtles we were talking about earlier.
And when straws aren't recycled, they wind up in landfills.
Plastic lids, while not ideal, are much easier to recycle.
Even if you're not a big straw drinker, the problem is big— according to an estimate
by the National Park Service, Americans use millions of straws every single day.
As more attention is paid to the issue, companies and cities have taken strides to reduce the
amount of straws used each day.
Disney already announced plans to eliminate single-use plastic straws and plastic stirrers
at all owned and operated locations across the world by mid-2019.
Seattle became the first major US city to ban single-use plastic straws and utensils.
San Francisco followed with an ordinance that's expected to take effect in 2019.
Starbucks announced a move to get rid of plastic straws globally by 2020.
Starbucks will switch to compostable straws to be given to customers upon request.
McDonald's has set a goal to shift 100% of guest packaging to renewable or recycled
sources by 2025.
Here's what's next!
