Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Is not Donald Trump.

But in some important ways that are a little bit terrifying and a little bit exciting she

is very much like Donald Trump.

Let me explain.

Back in late November of 2016 I found myself sitting around a table with a bunch of traditional

elite Republican types.

They were generally top 10 percenters who vote based on tax cuts.

Now none of these people liked Donald Trump of course.

They were what we like to call Anti-anti-Trump.

Appropriately disgusted by Trump, but so lost in their traditional fear of Democrats and

hatred of Hillary Clinton that they were happy to see him win.

Back in 2016 there was a lot of smugness around that table and some excitement about what

a fully Republican controlled government could do for rich folks.

I thought they were nuts.

Trump is disgusting of course, but what I was more worried about was what he represented.

Trump's power, and the way he came to power was very very new.

Obama had shades of it, but at the end of the day he was still a mostly traditional

politician.

Trump and his path to power were revolutionary and those rich folks I was having dinner with

should have been terrified.

Not of Trump, but of the people that come after Trump.

Trump has broken something that won't be easy to fix.

Politics is supposed to be boring.

Elections and some of the issues can be exciting of course, depending on the decade, but politics

have usually been fairly predictable.

Standard political drone types work their way through the system according to a vague

hierarchy and old fashioned pretensions of public service.

Every new candidate pitches themselves as new and dynamic even though they are very

much products of the system.

Obama was the most recent example of this, but we see it every election.

This orderly system was cozy and it ensured that the folks who end up running it don't

change much that's important.

Trump is something completely different.

Media has always been an important part of the system.

Newspapers and TV could drive what people talked about to some degree, but when it came

to picking and choosing our leaders, up until 2016 it was the political parties that mattered.

Trump was not picked by his party.

Folks like to blame Facebook and Twitter for Trump but I don't think that's entirely fair.

New media played a role, but the middle aged media, the cable news channels, were probably

more to blame, and it's actually a representative of at death's door media NBC that did the

most to create this nightmare.

Without the completely fictional character of a competent, intelligent Donald Trump created

on NBC's the apprentice, I really don't think we would be here.

But nonetheless, here is where we are.

The Republican party is irretrievably broken, and the Democratic party isn't in much better

shape.

Those smug Republicans who thought they had at least elected a businessman lost a ton

of money on the stock market last year, and worse is yet to come.

All those norms, and structures that used to defend the system, and the top ten percent,

are in tatters, and after the abject failure of our first pop culture president from the

right, the country is now likely to get its first pop culture president from the left.

That's the thing I wanted to tell those Republicans at that dinner back in 2016.

By tearing off all the guard rails for a right wing President, they were leaving themselves

defenseless against a left wing president.

Despite my strong dislike for Donald Trump, US Foreign Policy since the Cold War, and

the US criminal justice system I still consider myself a conservative.

I was not looking forward to the left wing Trump.

Now strangely I am a lot less worried, because of the career of Alexandria Ocasio-cortez.

In some ways the Ocasio-Cortez phenomenon is very similar to the whole Trump thing.

She came to power by knocking one of the most powerful democrats out of one of the safest

Democratic seats in Congress.

She is also playing the media like a fiddle, though unlike Trump she actually is a product

of New media like Instagram.

She is now almost certainly the best known member of Congress, and maybe even the best

known member of US government at any level other than Donald Trump.

At this point Ocasio-Cortez really is the Democratic response to Trump I was worried

about.

She is powerful, and she is using that power to advance a strongly left wing agenda.

So why am I, a conservative, not that worried about, or even a bit reassured by Ocasio-Cortez?.

It's not just that she is a pretty woman that occasionally throws out Watchmen quotes, though

wow.

It's also where she is exerting her power, and the way she is going about it.

Weirdly she has the potential to be one of the biggest defenders of the original interpretation

of the Constitution we have seen on decades.

The old way of doing things had a long term effect.

Over the course of decades, the Legislative Branch, Congress, got weaker and weaker, and

the executive branch, the one the President supposedly leads got more and more powerful.

According to the Constitution, Congress is supposed to be the branch that decides what

we do.

That hasn't been true for at least half a century.

With each passing year, TV made the President more powerful, and suicidal actions by the

Congress, under people like Newt Gingrich made Congress weaker and Dumber.

A lot of what is screwed up about the United States right now comes from the fact that

Congress is so at the mercy of presidents, on everything from wars to the budget.

Being a Senator is still kind of prestigious, but being in the House of Representatives

is basically a crappy telemarketing job.

It's very, very early, but it seems like Ocasio-Cortez might be able to change this.

Already over the past couple weeks, she has been driving the national news agenda from

the House of Representatives.

An unlike President Cheeto she has been starting real conversations about things that matter

domestically.

We haven't seen anything like this for decades.

And what's even better is the fact that she's too young to run for President before

2024.

Ocasio-Cortez could drop off the map tomorrow, the Public is fickle, but she seems to only

be gaining momentum, mostly by being willing to be more open and angry about the political

process than most other legislators.

If this continues, all her star power, and all her agenda setting ability, will be acting

to pump up the power of the US congress.

That's extraordinary…

So it turns out that the left wing answer to Donald Trump may actually end up giving

us a stronger congress, and a government that works more closely to the way the founders

intended.

That is not what I expected.

So this is how it's going to work:

I'm going to read the story to you twice and then in order to help you remember the story

I'm going to give you some clues.

As you follow the clues, you can remember the story, and I will ask you to pause the video,

Say this story using the clues,

and then, to make this even more fun,

and a little bit more embarrassing for Wes,

we're going to bring him over here and he is going to do this exercise with you.

So this is kind of a memory/ listening/ detail exercise,

but it's also a speaking exercise because you have to speak.

It's going to be fun. So Wes is here.

I am here to do this activity with you.

We brought him so that it's funny.

To test my listening skills. Yeah, I mean, it's just funnier than just doing it by ourselves, right? So

He's going to do this exercise with you. He's going to listen to this story.

You could also build igloos and castles

Snow can be very dangerous when driving because it lessens our visibility

Or lowers our visibility when driving and

In order to prevent accidents when there's snowy conditions out there you could use like salt or sand

to put on the roads

To help the the tires grip the road a little better.

And snow is the best!

Snow is wonderful. Yeah. I think I really botched that beginning

The beginning was a little iffy. You forgot about the atmosphere. You were like: high up in the air.

I just got it set up today

I don't know if I like it, you're kind of all up in my business.

But, I'll give it a shot anyway.

I just wanted to get one on one

and tell you a little bit about my experience with the NCLEX exam.

and contrary to popular belief, I do not always wear blue scrubs.

I was at a film shoot earlier today at a hospital for a campaign they're doing,

and they wanted me to wear proper attire.

So…

I was just too lazy to change.

OK. So, exam day, I go into this great building in North Seattle.

I'm greeted by this dude who has clearly never seen the sun.

I was on the phone getting my best wishes from my friends and family, ya know.

He's like "Shhhhhhshhshhhhshshhhshhhhshh!"

"No phones."

Plus, I interrupted his lunch.

So, ya know.

He extra loved me.

So, he invited me to the counter, where they start treating you like you're about to

enter Area 51.

You've got ten forms of identification, they do a palm vein scan, no joke.

It's like, you're not nervous enough already

Taking this exam, right?

They've got to make you question your own… identity.

Ya know you're sitting there like

"Did I bring the right information?"

"Is this my passport?"

"Am I really me?"

So, they give you these small lockers to put your stuff in.

You've got to take off all of your jewelry.

My belly-button dangler got stuck.

It was embarrassing.

I was a mess.

Anyway, I finally make it to the pre-test room where there's this dude who's clearly

suited for the Night's Watch on Game of Thrones if you've seen it.

You know, guarding the wall.

He's just monitoring people.

That's it.

Gave up his whole life.

No sex.

No children.

Just monitoring.

He was a nice guy.

But he gives you the most precious tool you will use on your NCLEX exam.

and that is…

the dry-erase board.

Now this may seem like an antiquated concept…

Ya know, using your hand, to write stuff down on a flat surface.

I mean, who's doing that these days?

Now I can't remember if the board was already labeled with one through, whatever the number

was.

With circles next to it.

But if it wasn't, I wrote it in.

So what you're going to do is you're going to write

#1. A. B. C. D. E.

"Select all that applies" has that extra E, right?

Now I did this for every single question and I'll tell you why.

We all know there's a total bull *bleep* answer for every single question.

Pull those out easy.

You get a question that's like:

"Your patients in stable SVT, what's the first thing you're going to do?"

and option "C" is like "Fry up an egg."

Ok?

No, for sure, on that one.

So what you're going to do

is you're going to physically cross off "C" on your dry-erase board.

and it's important you go through that motion

because that helps your brain

entirely get rid of that.

Not that you're going to go back and be like

"Well, frying up an egg might actually—"

No. That's not the point.

Entirely removing it from your brain is what needs to happen, and crossing it off is doing

just that.

Then you look at choice "B"

"Alert the charge nurse."

It's an OK thing to do.

So is alerting the doctor.

So is alerting the nurse next to ya, the tech next to ya.

But we're going to pull out the keywords from the question, right?

"-what's the FIRST thing you're going to do?"

Is, "Alert the charge nurse," the first thing you're going to do?

No, it's not.

Physically, cross that one out.

So, we've got "B" and "C" crossed out.

OK. Now you've got "A" and "D"

"A" is "Have patient do a vagal maneuver."

"D" is "Prepare for synchronized cardioversion."

Both legitimate for SVT.

You've crossed "B" and "C" out.

You physically crossed them out.

It's like deleting a crazy ex's phone number.

It was a toxic relationship with "B" and "C"

You don't want any of that.

You've moved on.

Back to the question. Look at the keywords, ok?

Anytime you see "unstable"

*bleep* done hit the fan.

If it's unstable SVT we're going to prepare for synchronized cardioversion, it is not.

It is stable SVT. So, we're going to physically cross out "D" and we're going to circle

"A"

So we can confidently move on to the next question and use the same process again.

This technique was passed down from nurse to nurse to nurse to nurse, and I'm glad

I caught wind of it

because I was out of there in 75 questions, in 60 minutes, and I knew

for damn sure I passed.

So, for all of you taking the NCLEX, I wish you the best.

Remember that, once you walk out of those test center doors

there is nothing you can think about hard enough to change any one of those answers.

So, don't dwell on it, not even for a second, ok?

Do something good for yourself, for making it far enough to even take the exam.

Wait for the results.

Cause that's all you can do.

the walls are from Aragonese period

then byzantine

and a top terrace really nice for the view!

A Conservative Case For Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez | Congress 8 - Duration: 8:07.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Is not Donald Trump.

But in some important ways that are a little bit terrifying and a little bit exciting she

is very much like Donald Trump.

Let me explain.

Back in late November of 2016 I found myself sitting around a table with a bunch of traditional

elite Republican types.

They were generally top 10 percenters who vote based on tax cuts.

Now none of these people liked Donald Trump of course.

They were what we like to call Anti-anti-Trump.

Appropriately disgusted by Trump, but so lost in their traditional fear of Democrats and

hatred of Hillary Clinton that they were happy to see him win.

Back in 2016 there was a lot of smugness around that table and some excitement about what

a fully Republican controlled government could do for rich folks.

I thought they were nuts.

Trump is disgusting of course, but what I was more worried about was what he represented.

Trump's power, and the way he came to power was very very new.

Obama had shades of it, but at the end of the day he was still a mostly traditional

politician.

Trump and his path to power were revolutionary and those rich folks I was having dinner with

should have been terrified.

Not of Trump, but of the people that come after Trump.

Trump has broken something that won't be easy to fix.

Politics is supposed to be boring.

Elections and some of the issues can be exciting of course, depending on the decade, but politics

have usually been fairly predictable.

Standard political drone types work their way through the system according to a vague

hierarchy and old fashioned pretensions of public service.

Every new candidate pitches themselves as new and dynamic even though they are very

much products of the system.

Obama was the most recent example of this, but we see it every election.

This orderly system was cozy and it ensured that the folks who end up running it don't

change much that's important.

Trump is something completely different.

Media has always been an important part of the system.

Newspapers and TV could drive what people talked about to some degree, but when it came

to picking and choosing our leaders, up until 2016 it was the political parties that mattered.

Trump was not picked by his party.

Folks like to blame Facebook and Twitter for Trump but I don't think that's entirely fair.

New media played a role, but the middle aged media, the cable news channels, were probably

more to blame, and it's actually a representative of at death's door media NBC that did the

most to create this nightmare.

Without the completely fictional character of a competent, intelligent Donald Trump created

on NBC's the apprentice, I really don't think we would be here.

But nonetheless, here is where we are.

The Republican party is irretrievably broken, and the Democratic party isn't in much better

shape.

Those smug Republicans who thought they had at least elected a businessman lost a ton

of money on the stock market last year, and worse is yet to come.

All those norms, and structures that used to defend the system, and the top ten percent,

are in tatters, and after the abject failure of our first pop culture president from the

right, the country is now likely to get its first pop culture president from the left.

That's the thing I wanted to tell those Republicans at that dinner back in 2016.

By tearing off all the guard rails for a right wing President, they were leaving themselves

defenseless against a left wing president.

Despite my strong dislike for Donald Trump, US Foreign Policy since the Cold War, and

the US criminal justice system I still consider myself a conservative.

I was not looking forward to the left wing Trump.

Now strangely I am a lot less worried, because of the career of Alexandria Ocasio-cortez.

In some ways the Ocasio-Cortez phenomenon is very similar to the whole Trump thing.

She came to power by knocking one of the most powerful democrats out of one of the safest

Democratic seats in Congress.

She is also playing the media like a fiddle, though unlike Trump she actually is a product

of New media like Instagram.

She is now almost certainly the best known member of Congress, and maybe even the best

known member of US government at any level other than Donald Trump.

At this point Ocasio-Cortez really is the Democratic response to Trump I was worried

about.

She is powerful, and she is using that power to advance a strongly left wing agenda.

So why am I, a conservative, not that worried about, or even a bit reassured by Ocasio-Cortez?.

It's not just that she is a pretty woman that occasionally throws out Watchmen quotes, though

wow.

It's also where she is exerting her power, and the way she is going about it.

Weirdly she has the potential to be one of the biggest defenders of the original interpretation

of the Constitution we have seen on decades.

The old way of doing things had a long term effect.

Over the course of decades, the Legislative Branch, Congress, got weaker and weaker, and

the executive branch, the one the President supposedly leads got more and more powerful.

According to the Constitution, Congress is supposed to be the branch that decides what

we do.

That hasn't been true for at least half a century.

With each passing year, TV made the President more powerful, and suicidal actions by the

Congress, under people like Newt Gingrich made Congress weaker and Dumber.

A lot of what is screwed up about the United States right now comes from the fact that

Congress is so at the mercy of presidents, on everything from wars to the budget.

Being a Senator is still kind of prestigious, but being in the House of Representatives

is basically a crappy telemarketing job.

It's very, very early, but it seems like Ocasio-Cortez might be able to change this.

Already over the past couple weeks, she has been driving the national news agenda from

the House of Representatives.

An unlike President Cheeto she has been starting real conversations about things that matter

domestically.

We haven't seen anything like this for decades.

And what's even better is the fact that she's too young to run for President before

2024.

Ocasio-Cortez could drop off the map tomorrow, the Public is fickle, but she seems to only

be gaining momentum, mostly by being willing to be more open and angry about the political

process than most other legislators.

If this continues, all her star power, and all her agenda setting ability, will be acting

to pump up the power of the US congress.

That's extraordinary…

So it turns out that the left wing answer to Donald Trump may actually end up giving

us a stronger congress, and a government that works more closely to the way the founders

intended.

That is not what I expected.

How to know if a man is lying in a relationship

Men lie.

Women lie.

Everyone does.

Most of the time we lie because we want to make a person feel good about something or

to make ourselves look better.

As a matter of fact, a study shows that 60 percent of adults can't go 10 minutes in

a conversation without lying at least once.

Maybe we can understand if we're being lied to at times, especially by our spouse, a major

dishonesty is not something we want with our partner.

So, how do you then find out if your boyfriend or husband is lying to you?

How do you find out if he is being dishonest?

In this video, we'll be sharing with you some tips to help you know if a man is lying

in a relationship.

1.

When he takes a long time to answer a simple question

The truth doesn't require a lot of prep time.

Usually, when a man takes a long while before responding to your question, he is trying

to buy enough time to come up with a story.

He can do this by either repeating your question or push you to add extra details to your question

so that he will know how best to respond.

2.

When he changes the subject

Asides from taking a long time to answer, he'll change the subject entirely.

He'll try to make it seem like all he cares about is you, that way you won't suspect a

thing.

For instance, when you ask where he was last night.

He'll say, "Who cares where I was.

All I care about is you, my angel.

How did you spend your night?"

If your boyfriend or husband do this often, you might want to address the situation.

3.

When the details do not add up

Because he wasn't prepared for the question, caught unawares and unable to rehearse a perfect

line/script, he'll likely mess up with the details of whatever information he gives you

at the moment.

For instance, the first time he explains the story, he could tell you he was out with his

best friend and then the next time he narrates it to you, he'll mention the presence of another

friend.

If this happens, you might want to check out the situation because in the first place,

could he have forgotten that there was a third person initially?

Ian Kerner, Ph.D., a New York City-based clinical sexologist says, "Generally, liars mess up

and change a detail in their story."

So, according to Robert Feldman, author of The Liar in Your Life: The Way to Truthful

Relationships, ask yourself: "Does this really make sense?

Look beyond what he's saying and try to be an objective observer of his behaviour."

A good way to find out if his story is true is to ask him to narrate it backwards.

That way you can find out if he is lying by taking note of the inconsistencies and then

you can detect a lie.

Human behaviour and relationship expert Patrick Wanis explains that "Some people who are

skilled liars will practice or rehearse their lies, but they don't remember them back

to front.

The reason it's hard to establish proper chronology is that it's not real.

If I were to say to you, 'Tell me now in reverse order what you did today going back

to 7 o'clock this morning,' your mind knows how to do this because it has a timeline.

But if you're trying to make up something, it's harder because you have to think backwards.

That 'timeline' doesn't exist, so you actually have to create more lies, not just

one."

4.

When there's either too much information or too little information in what he is saying

We assume you know how your man narrates his stories, briefly or well-detailed.

If he would normally like to include all the detail and suddenly goes briefly with his

narration, something might be amiss.

On the other hand, if he is usually very brief and would always go straight to the point,

something might be wrong when he suddenly starts mentioning inconsequential details,

this might be a warning sign as well.

Jenny Lee, coauthor of Women Are Crazy, Men Are Stupid says, "You know your guy and you

know when he's not acting like himself.

If your guy is chatty and suddenly he's not, something's up.

If your guy is very quiet and suddenly he's giving you too many details, something's up."

5.

When he gets so defensive

Having to repeat the same thing over and over again can be pretty annoying.

But if a guy gets uncontrollably defensive for something that requires a simple answer

to get over with it, then he just might be lying.

Getting defensive can either make you avoid the subject seeing that it bothers him so

much or buy him enough time to change the topic entirely.

Again, Ian Kerner says, "If you find that he pauses a lot when responding to your questions,

becomes overly fidgety and defensive or can't look you in the eye, be suspicious that he

might not be telling you the truth."

6.

When his body language is saying something different

While refusing to make eye contact might not be a dead giveaway that your guy is lying,

there are a few signs that should raise your suspicion.

Wanis says, "Let's say that a guy says something untruthful and then straight away

rubs his nose.

That can mean that he's lying.

Or a guy can say something, but he's half-covering his mouth with his hand.

Why?

He's either withholding something he really wants to tell you, or he's telling you a

half-truth.

He doesn't want all the words to come out.

It's a symbolic gesture.

Touching the nose can mean, 'Even I'm disgusted with what I just said.'"

Look out for behaviours that are unusual of him.

Like fidgeting, sweaty palms and the likes.

These signs can mean that he is agitated.

Wannis suggest paying attention to these behaviours to know if "the agitation is because he's

being questioned, or because he's done something wrong?

You have to decide that."

7.

When he blames you for everything

As a way of forcing you to drop the topic and move on, he'll try shifting the blame

so that you look like the guilty party.

He'll try to make you feel guilty about not trusting him well enough to question him.

Della Casa says, "If every concern you have gets twisted around and thrown back at you,

he's pulling a classic guilty-man move.

Keeping you on the defensive keeps him out of trouble."

Okay today's question comes from somebody who wants to know what I think of people hiring

a maid instead of cleaning up after themselves.

So, the very first thing that I want to say is whoever you are, thank you very much for

considering that hiring a maid is the answer, because in many cases, that is the answer.

You either have time or you have money.

And if you have time to clean your own house, boo yah, do it yourself because it will save

you a lot of money.

But if you have more money than time, then certainly hire it out because it's not a good

use of your time to clean up after yourself.

Now I say clean up after yourself, meaning doing all of the house cleaning.

I do expect every day that you're going to pick up your own clothes, you're going to

make your own bed, you're going to do things like brush your own teeth and take your own

showers, so these are like maintenance things that are just part of everyday day living, right?

So if you eat food, don't leave it on the table, like pick it up, go put the food back

in the fridge, put the dishes in the sink or the dishwasher and do things that you normally

do to sustain life.

And then move on with the rest of your life and let a professional come in and tidy up

everything and scour out the bathtubs and the sinks and mop the floors and clean out

the corners and all those things.

You can hire somebody to do the bigger stuff, you do the daily chores.

Now, I do think it is important, so incredibly important, that everybody know how to do it.

Men, women, adults, elder folks, children, everybody should learn how to maintain a house.

It is so important because it's the space that we live in.

Our home is a place of refuge.

It is a safe place.

And when we come in from the outside world, there's chaos out there, there's dirt and

grime and germs out there.

And when you come home, it should be a safe haven where you can come in and relax and

it's clean and tidy and it's a place of organization and harmony.

And I think everybody deserves that.

And because I believe that, I think everybody has the responsibility to learn those skills

and to teach their children those skills.

Nobody is entitled to ignore the space that you live in.

This is your comfort zone.

And so I think that your vehicle should be the same way.

When you get out of your car, I think you should clean it up.

I think you should bring in garbage and if you ate fast food in there, take the fast

food garbage out of your car.

If you wore clothes and you changed clothes, somewhere between when you left and when you

came back, those clothes need to come in from outside and don't leave them in your car.

If you're a house cleaner and you have cleaning supplies, all that stuff should come in.

Your car is an extension of your home.

And so I think your car and your home should be tidy, clean places because you deserve that.

Now what do I think of a person how hires a maid?

I think that's perfectly fine.

The day will come when you decide,

"Hey, me mopping my own floor is not a good use of my time."

I would rather pay somebody $25 or $55 or whatever the price is, per hour

and have them come do that.

Depending on how much money you make, it will depend on who you hire, what kind of a service

you hire, and what kind of services they provide.

But you will probably outsource that at some point because it's just not a good use of

your time.

And if that's the case, no problem, I have no shame in that whatsoever.

There are things that even house cleaners outsource to other people because it's not

a good use of their time.

The best use of their time may be is cleaning and they will outsource something else that

is not a good use of their time.

Everybody's different, everybody has different priorities and there are people

who hate to clean. That's fine.

If you know how to do it, in a pinch, you can do it, and that's again, comes back to

you deserve a clean place to stay.

As do your children and your elder parents.

And so at some point, you may end up being the person that goes in and you grab the vacuum

and the mop and you end up cleaning up your house.

That's okay; there's no shame in that.

And so I think that everybody should know how.

I think it would be awesome if everyone were in a position that they could outsource it.

That would be cool.

It's not necessarily a possibility for everyone, but it would be cool.

So I'm not judging either way, but I do think that everybody deserves a clean place to stay

and I think that you should strive to learn the skills.

And so, then you have choices.

Now I do think that there was a time when mom cleaned the house and everybody else just

kind of followed along, and dad did the landscaping.

Way back in the 40s, that's kind of how it was.

But now moms are out there mowing their yard and dads are inside doing the dishes.

So I think everybody needs to swap chores and everybody needs to know how to do this

stuff, just to maintain the space.

Alrighty, so that's my two cents for today, and my opinion.

Hey, what's happening everybody?

It's your boy Nurse Stefan tryin out this new "vlog" thing.

I just got it set up today

I don't know if I like it, you're kind of all up in my business.

But, I'll give it a shot anyway.

I just wanted to get one on one

and tell you a little bit about my experience with the NCLEX exam.

and contrary to popular belief, I do not always wear blue scrubs.

I was at a film shoot earlier today at a hospital for a campaign they're doing,

and they wanted me to wear proper attire.

So…

I was just too lazy to change.

OK. So, exam day, I go into this great building in North Seattle.

I'm greeted by this dude who has clearly never seen the sun.

I was on the phone getting my best wishes from my friends and family, ya know.

He's like "Shhhhhhshhshhhhshshhhshhhhshh!"

"No phones."

Plus, I interrupted his lunch.

So, ya know.

He extra loved me.

So, he invited me to the counter, where they start treating you like you're about to

enter Area 51.

You've got ten forms of identification, they do a palm vein scan, no joke.

It's like, you're not nervous enough already

Taking this exam, right?

They've got to make you question your own… identity.

Ya know you're sitting there like

"Did I bring the right information?"

"Is this my passport?"

"Am I really me?"

So, they give you these small lockers to put your stuff in.

You've got to take off all of your jewelry.

My belly-button dangler got stuck.

It was embarrassing.

I was a mess.

Anyway, I finally make it to the pre-test room where there's this dude who's clearly

suited for the Night's Watch on Game of Thrones if you've seen it.

You know, guarding the wall.

He's just monitoring people.

That's it.

Gave up his whole life.

No sex.

No children.

Just monitoring.

He was a nice guy.

But he gives you the most precious tool you will use on your NCLEX exam.

and that is…

the dry-erase board.

Now this may seem like an antiquated concept…

Ya know, using your hand, to write stuff down on a flat surface.

I mean, who's doing that these days?

Now I can't remember if the board was already labeled with one through, whatever the number

was.

With circles next to it.

But if it wasn't, I wrote it in.

So what you're going to do is you're going to write

#1. A. B. C. D. E.

"Select all that applies" has that extra E, right?

Now I did this for every single question and I'll tell you why.

We all know there's a total bull *bleep* answer for every single question.

Pull those out easy.

You get a question that's like:

"Your patients in stable SVT, what's the first thing you're going to do?"

and option "C" is like "Fry up an egg."

Ok?

No, for sure, on that one.

So what you're going to do

is you're going to physically cross off "C" on your dry-erase board.

and it's important you go through that motion

because that helps your brain

entirely get rid of that.

Not that you're going to go back and be like

"Well, frying up an egg might actually—"

No. That's not the point.

Entirely removing it from your brain is what needs to happen, and crossing it off is doing

just that.

Then you look at choice "B"

"Alert the charge nurse."

It's an OK thing to do.

So is alerting the doctor.

So is alerting the nurse next to ya, the tech next to ya.

But we're going to pull out the keywords from the question, right?

"-what's the FIRST thing you're going to do?"

Is, "Alert the charge nurse," the first thing you're going to do?

No, it's not.

Physically, cross that one out.

So, we've got "B" and "C" crossed out.

OK. Now you've got "A" and "D"

"A" is "Have patient do a vagal maneuver."

"D" is "Prepare for synchronized cardioversion."

Both legitimate for SVT.

You've crossed "B" and "C" out.

You physically crossed them out.

It's like deleting a crazy ex's phone number.

It was a toxic relationship with "B" and "C"

You don't want any of that.

You've moved on.

Back to the question. Look at the keywords, ok?

Your patient is in stable SVT, what's the first thing you're gonna do?

OK so anytime you see "stable" you know that *bleeps* still pretty chill.

Anytime you see "unstable"

*bleep* done hit the fan.

If it's unstable SVT we're going to prepare for synchronized cardioversion, it is not.

It is stable SVT. So, we're going to physically cross out "D" and we're going to circle

"A"

So we can confidently move on to the next question and use the same process again.

This technique was passed down from nurse to nurse to nurse to nurse, and I'm glad

I caught wind of it

because I was out of there in 75 questions, in 60 minutes, and I knew

for damn sure I passed.

So, for all of you taking the NCLEX, I wish you the best.

Remember that, once you walk out of those test center doors

there is nothing you can think about hard enough to change any one of those answers.

So, don't dwell on it, not even for a second, ok?

Do something good for yourself, for making it far enough to even take the exam.

Wait for the results.

Cause that's all you can do.

A Conservative Case For Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez | Congress 8 - Duration: 8:07.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Is not Donald Trump.

But in some important ways that are a little bit terrifying and a little bit exciting she

is very much like Donald Trump.

Let me explain.

Back in late November of 2016 I found myself sitting around a table with a bunch of traditional

elite Republican types.

They were generally top 10 percenters who vote based on tax cuts.

Now none of these people liked Donald Trump of course.

They were what we like to call Anti-anti-Trump.

Appropriately disgusted by Trump, but so lost in their traditional fear of Democrats and

hatred of Hillary Clinton that they were happy to see him win.

Back in 2016 there was a lot of smugness around that table and some excitement about what

a fully Republican controlled government could do for rich folks.

I thought they were nuts.

Trump is disgusting of course, but what I was more worried about was what he represented.

Trump's power, and the way he came to power was very very new.

Obama had shades of it, but at the end of the day he was still a mostly traditional

politician.

Trump and his path to power were revolutionary and those rich folks I was having dinner with

should have been terrified.

Not of Trump, but of the people that come after Trump.

Trump has broken something that won't be easy to fix.

Politics is supposed to be boring.

Elections and some of the issues can be exciting of course, depending on the decade, but politics

have usually been fairly predictable.

Standard political drone types work their way through the system according to a vague

hierarchy and old fashioned pretensions of public service.

Every new candidate pitches themselves as new and dynamic even though they are very

much products of the system.

Obama was the most recent example of this, but we see it every election.

This orderly system was cozy and it ensured that the folks who end up running it don't

change much that's important.

Trump is something completely different.

Media has always been an important part of the system.

Newspapers and TV could drive what people talked about to some degree, but when it came

to picking and choosing our leaders, up until 2016 it was the political parties that mattered.

Trump was not picked by his party.

Folks like to blame Facebook and Twitter for Trump but I don't think that's entirely fair.

New media played a role, but the middle aged media, the cable news channels, were probably

more to blame, and it's actually a representative of at death's door media NBC that did the

most to create this nightmare.

Without the completely fictional character of a competent, intelligent Donald Trump created

on NBC's the apprentice, I really don't think we would be here.

But nonetheless, here is where we are.

The Republican party is irretrievably broken, and the Democratic party isn't in much better

shape.

Those smug Republicans who thought they had at least elected a businessman lost a ton

of money on the stock market last year, and worse is yet to come.

All those norms, and structures that used to defend the system, and the top ten percent,

are in tatters, and after the abject failure of our first pop culture president from the

right, the country is now likely to get its first pop culture president from the left.

That's the thing I wanted to tell those Republicans at that dinner back in 2016.

By tearing off all the guard rails for a right wing President, they were leaving themselves

defenseless against a left wing president.

Despite my strong dislike for Donald Trump, US Foreign Policy since the Cold War, and

the US criminal justice system I still consider myself a conservative.

I was not looking forward to the left wing Trump.

Now strangely I am a lot less worried, because of the career of Alexandria Ocasio-cortez.

In some ways the Ocasio-Cortez phenomenon is very similar to the whole Trump thing.

She came to power by knocking one of the most powerful democrats out of one of the safest

Democratic seats in Congress.

She is also playing the media like a fiddle, though unlike Trump she actually is a product

of New media like Instagram.

She is now almost certainly the best known member of Congress, and maybe even the best

known member of US government at any level other than Donald Trump.

At this point Ocasio-Cortez really is the Democratic response to Trump I was worried

about.

She is powerful, and she is using that power to advance a strongly left wing agenda.

So why am I, a conservative, not that worried about, or even a bit reassured by Ocasio-Cortez?.

It's not just that she is a pretty woman that occasionally throws out Watchmen quotes, though

wow.

It's also where she is exerting her power, and the way she is going about it.

Weirdly she has the potential to be one of the biggest defenders of the original interpretation

of the Constitution we have seen on decades.

The old way of doing things had a long term effect.

Over the course of decades, the Legislative Branch, Congress, got weaker and weaker, and

the executive branch, the one the President supposedly leads got more and more powerful.

According to the Constitution, Congress is supposed to be the branch that decides what

we do.

That hasn't been true for at least half a century.

With each passing year, TV made the President more powerful, and suicidal actions by the

Congress, under people like Newt Gingrich made Congress weaker and Dumber.

A lot of what is screwed up about the United States right now comes from the fact that

Congress is so at the mercy of presidents, on everything from wars to the budget.

Being a Senator is still kind of prestigious, but being in the House of Representatives

is basically a crappy telemarketing job.

It's very, very early, but it seems like Ocasio-Cortez might be able to change this.

Already over the past couple weeks, she has been driving the national news agenda from

the House of Representatives.

An unlike President Cheeto she has been starting real conversations about things that matter

domestically.

We haven't seen anything like this for decades.

And what's even better is the fact that she's too young to run for President before

2024.

Ocasio-Cortez could drop off the map tomorrow, the Public is fickle, but she seems to only

be gaining momentum, mostly by being willing to be more open and angry about the political

process than most other legislators.

If this continues, all her star power, and all her agenda setting ability, will be acting

to pump up the power of the US congress.

That's extraordinary…

So it turns out that the left wing answer to Donald Trump may actually end up giving

us a stronger congress, and a government that works more closely to the way the founders

intended.

The Houston Rockets simply can't catch a break on the injury front.

While reigning MVP James Harden has shouldered a huge amount of the workload with both Chris Paul and Eric Gordon out, he's had some major help from Clint Capela.

And now, the Rockets will no longer have the young center to rely on.

After Capela had been ruled out for Monday's game against the Memphis Grizzlies due to a thumb injury, there was no final word on his status beyond this game.

The outlook didn't seem terrible at the time, but that all changed quickly.

As ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski revealed just hours after the original news, Capela will miss four to six weeks with his thumb injury.

This comes after news that the MRI showed ligament damage.

The tall task of continuing to win games without key pieces gets even tougher moving forward for the Rockets, who seem likely to begin eyeing a potential trade.

To make matters even worse, the level Capela had played at as of late was phenomenal and leaves a huge hole on an already depleted roster.

While Capela has averaged 17.2 points and 12.6 rebounds per game this season, his numbers have increased due to the team's injuries.

Over the past 11 games, Capela has posted a double-double eight times, including five performances in which he pulled down 19 or more rebounds.

Through the first six games of January, his averages jumped to 21.2 points and 130 rebounds.

Currently, the Rockets have roughly seven (maybe eight) players who have even seen legitimate minutes in their rotation this season.

At least for the foreseeable future, this injury likely means Harden, Austin Rivers, P.J.

Tucker, Gerald Green, and Danuel House will receive as much court time as they can possibly handle.

With the Capela news coming down, it left the team's fanbase in complete shock and frustrated by the fact they can't seem to avoid the injury bug.

Arsenal transfer news: Gunners SLAMMED for Mesut Ozil saga, Unai Emery not getting support - Duration: 4:14.

 That's according to ESPN FC's Craig Burley. Emery excluded play-maker Ozil from his 18-man match-day squad once again at West Ham at the weekend as the Gunners' poor away form continued with a 1-0 loss

 The £350,000-a-week attacker was previously a sure-fire starter whenever he was fit under Emery's predecessor Arsene Wenger but has lost that status this season

 He has been frozen out for several tricky away games and was absent from the squad at West Ham despite the fact Emery had only Aaron Ramsey and young striker Eddie Nketiah - with just four league appearances to his names - as attacking options in reserve

 But having made it obvious he does not see a place in his long-term plans at the Emirates for Ozil, the north London club have yet to make any advancement with offloading their highest-paid star

 And Burley believes that Arsenal's board are not showing enough support to Emery - with the Spaniard only allowed to make loan signings this month despite having publicly revealed his desire to bring in a centre-back and a winger

 "Where I come from on this, you've had 20 years of Arsene Wenger, at the end it was going a bit stale," Burley said

 "You bring Unai Emery in, you either back the guy or you don't. He wants to do things without Mesut Ozil

  "I know it's not going to be easy to get rid of him and they've had a bit of a toil-up recently

 But the German's agent has declared Ozil does not want to leave the club. Dr Erkut Sogut told Goal: "Mesut signed a new contract last January because he saw his future at Arsenal and nothing has changed in his mind

He wants to stay for the duration of that contract and maybe even longer. "In the last year, there has been enormous upheaval for everybody at the club and the first half of this season has not been perfect for Mesut

 "He has suffered from injuries and illness, and is working hard to adapt to the different system employed by head coach Unai Emery

 "This may take time, but Mesut will give everything he has to help make it work and bring success to Arsenal
