The Ethnic Victory of 2015 And An Apology By Moses E. Ochonu - Duration: 20:28.

The Ethnic Victory of 2015 And An Apology By Moses E. Ochonu

It is now quite clear that what happened in Nigeria in 2015 was not a revolution but a scam of historic proportion.

To be more specific, it was, as University of Texas Professor and Punch columnist, Adunni Adelakun, put it, a "tribal victory." How so? .

A core group of politicians and intellectuals from the Northern and Southwestern parts of the country successfully repackaged a former military dictator who had two years earlier been universally reviled as unelectable.

A man whose only distinction up to that point was his draconian approach to governance as Head of State in the 1980s as well as his belief that repression and coercion represented an all-purpose solution to all of Nigeria's problems. .

How they were able to successfully re-inflict him on Nigeria and give the rebranded dictator purchase with Nigerians will preoccupy future historians who will extend their inquiry beyond Buhari's own personal con in declaring himself a born-again democrat.

On the political side, the most recognizable faces of this ethnic coalition were Bola Tinubu and Nasir El-Rufai.

On the intellectual side, there was an army of Northern and Southwestern intellectuals and learned folks who strategically but disguisedly lent their persuasive intellects to the cause and obscured its essentially ethnic character.

This ethnic collective then successfully coopted many intellectuals and politicians and youths from all regions and religions of Nigeria into the project, advancing it as a last-ditch effort to wrestle the nation from 16 years of the PDP's predatory rule, never mind that the emerging coalition was animated and financed by disgruntled PDP members.

The ethnic battalion behind then candidate Muhammadu Buhari manipulated the naïve youths of Nigeria and the opportunism and naivety of intellectuals and politicians from other regions, harvesting their energies into the political effort that ousted Goodluck Jonathan.

Their rhetoric of revolution, reclamation, and their fiction of integrity and ethical cleansing found a receptive audience desperate for change and thus willing to overlook the contradictory records of the messengers.

The core of the 2015 coalition remained decidedly ethnic in composition and ideology. The inner circle never believed in changing Nigeria.

They only believed in changing its leadership. For the Southwestern elite, it was about getting back in power through the backdoor of a Buhari presidency.

For the North, it was obvious: they looked upon Jonathan as a usurper, as the man who had purportedly taken their turn at the presidency. They wanted back in.

This was the foundational premise of regime change in 2015. Everything else was a sophisticated marketing gimmick. But it was gimmickry at its most disarming.

Buhari had proclaimed publicly that late dictator Sani Abacha had not stolen any money from Nigeria and has not retracted that claim despite Nigeria taking possession of multiple streams of Abacha's cash stash.

In spite of that, and in spite of presiding over a cesspool of corruption and waste at the defunct Petroleum Trust Fund, the ethnic coalition settled on the theme of integrity as their point of departure for their campaign.

Even Buhari's record of parochial insularity was magically transformed into a story of redemptive self-reinvention.

He had learned from his failed previous effort to secure the presidency on the misguided premise that support from the north alone could deliver it to him, we were told.

This presidential run, the ethnic propagandists claimed, was different from previous ones. They claimed that Buhari was cultivating a broad based national coalition, had shed his northern provincialism, and had embraced a cosmopolitan, ecumenical agenda. .

And yet the evidence of Buhari's dangerous, obstinate investment in parochial endeavors and claims was inescapable. It was Buhari who said an attack on Boko Haram was an attack on the north.

It was he who said Boko Haram was fighting injustice and that it was wrong to unleash the military on them while conferring amnesty and patronage on Niger Delta oil militants.  .

It was Buhari who encouraged Northern Muslims to vote only their kind.

It was he who led a delegation of Fulani leaders to former Oyo State Governor Lam Adeshina, asking him "why are your people killing my people?" It was Buhari who declared that he would work for the implementation of Sharia, the Islamic legal system, across Nigeria in disregard of Nigeria's plural religious heritage. .

This was the same Buhari who ruled with an iron fist as military dictator, locking up journalists and critics and presiding over an inept and misguided pseudo-nationalist economic policy that worsened scarcity, drove up inflation, and killed economic ingenuity.

This was the real Buhari. But the ethnic coalition capitalized on disenchantment with Goodluck Jonathan's corruption-ridden administration to claim otherwise or to cast him as remorseful for his past misdeeds, a wiser old man with a different temperament.

Many Nigerians outside the core ethnic constituencies of the coalition fell for this scam. The youths of Nigeria, betrayed by decades of misrule, of which ironically Buhari was a part, fell even harder.

They went all in on the sexy message of change.

Ensconced in power, it did not take long for old, familiar Buhari to reemerge. Within a few months of winning the election, both his ethnic insularity and his governing deficits were on full display. .

Even before he was sworn in, he introduced a new, quantified doctrine of 97/5 percent into our political lexicon, indicating that the Igbo, who in his reckoning supplied only five percent of his votes totals in the election, should not expect to be treated in the same way as the regions that gave him "97 percent.

" The mathematical fallacy of 97/5 aside, Buhari signaled that he was the same old retired dictator whose only post-retirement claim to fame had been a series of insensitive and downright chauvinistic statements privileging the north and Islam above other regions and religious communities.

More reiterations of Buhari's provincial insensitivity followed.

Asked about the Igbo complaints of marginalization in a televised interview, Buhari screamed, "What do the Igbos want?" and proceeded to patronizingly lecture IPOB Biafra agitators about his role in the civil war and about how, as small boys, they had no understandings of the danger of war.

When Benue was attacked by armed herdsmen resulting in many deaths, instead of mourning with the Benue delegation which visited him in Aso Rock, Buhari paternalistically and insultingly admonished them to go and live in peace with their neighbors.

He then followed it up by absolving the armed herdsmen of blame, saying that their grazing routes had been blocked.

The coup de gracewas his declaration, repeated in a recent television interview, that more people had been killed in Zamfara than in Benue and Taraba states combined.

This was a macabre, self-indicting comparison of questionable veracity and an insulting trivialization of deaths outside his natal Northwest zone.

Buhari's problem is not merely one of cultural insensitivity but one of a lifelong immersion in the comfort of familiar ethno-religious surroundings and a concomitant aversion to associating, except when duty and ambition required it, with people, ideas, and influences from Nigeria's other regions.

On the economic front, old Buhari reemerged with a vengeance as though he had unfinished business from his truncated dictatorship.

As soon as he took over, he decreed a ban, 1984-style, on the importation of tens of goods and declared that the naira must be defended at all costs, including by imposing restrictions on foreign exchange and raiding reserves to prop up a currency weakened by falling oil prices and the resulting slowdown in the economy. .

This was economic stupidity underwritten by Buhari's old 1980s brand of economic nationalism, which sees the economy as yet another realm of national life to be tightly controlled, disciplined, and leveraged for national pride.

In this backward, outmoded economic thinking, it did not matter that such a policy of tight controls in a monoculture economy is usually the fastest route to a recession.

Predictably, Buhari took an admittedly weak economy into a severe, prolonged recession, with double digit inflation, 11 millions jobs lost, and thousands of bankrupt businesses as the outcome.

He had promised to never pay subsidy on petrol but to fix the refineries to provide access to cheap and abundant fuel. He reneged on that promise.

Instead, he increased fuel price by about 70 percent and yet his administration now pays more in subsidy than the Jonathan administration ever paid when fuel sold for 87 naira a liter.

By what mathematical logic is this subsidy figure possible when crude prices have tumbled? We are told that somehow, between 2015 and 2018, Nigeria's fuel consumption jumped from about 9 million metric tons to about 15 million metric tons! When challenged to account for this abracadabra, the Buharists' answer consist of two words: Next level.

Other promises made during the grand ethnic deception of 2014/2015 lay in ruins, disowned and disavowed by the president and his henchmen.

We are told that the Federal Inland Revenue Service now generates more than 5 naira trillion in revenue, and that the Customs for its part adds several more trillions to the federal treasury.

However, in 2018, despite Nigeria making about 12 trillion naira from crude oil sales, at least 7 trillion from taxes and duties, and an undisclosed amount from non-oil exports, the country still borrowed 1.6 trillion naira to support a 2018 budget of N9.12 trillion naira!.

This arithmetic sleight of hand is the latest evidence of the gargantuan corruption proliferating in Buhari's administration. The difference is that much of this corruption occurs through the legal appropriations process.

But that's not to say that it's the only form of corruption.

Buhari has not only tolerated graft, he even wrote to the national assembly in the case of his ex-SGF Babachir Lawal to argue his exoneration only to be trumped and shamed by the overwhelming evidence against the man.

Although relieved of his position, Babachir has yet to be prosecuted in accordance with the report of the National Assembly panel that investigated his shady dealings.

In fact, he continues to work informally for the president, boasting recently that he has unfettered access to the Buhari and is helping his reelection campaign.

Buhari superintended and approved the reinstatement of pension fugitive, Abdulrasheed Maina, and has failed to order and investigation into corruption allegations against his chief of staff, his army chief, and his minister of internal affairs — the last two accusations involving the acquisitions of properties overseas.

These are all evidence of the old Buhari reasserting himself and refusing to act according to the script written for him by the 2015 ethnic coalition.

The selective morality, the exoneration of corrupt loyal allies, the bigotry and parochialism, the economic illiteracy, the absence of intellectual curiosity, the malicious insensitivity to Nigeria's complex ethnoreligious mix, and the lack of a national frame of sociopolitical frame of reference.

All these tendencies never went away. They were cleverly disguised behind the rhetoric of change deployed to harness the nervous, desperate energies of unsuspecting citizens in 2015.

This is a rather circuitous way of saying that Buhari's ethnic coalition got away with arguably the biggest political scam in Nigeria's history, managing to recruit many unsuspecting Nigerians into what they knew to be an ethnic agenda to capture power.

I was one of those who almost believed their pitch.

I maintained a studious, skeptical neutrality until the last few weeks before the election of 2015, having previously declared that I could not support the profligate and weak administration of Jonathan for another term and that I had too many concerns about Buhari, based on his history.

I interrogated the rhetoric of the Buhari coalition and pointed out the incongruity between it and Buhari's own record, his history. .

Then, when the election was weeks away, some of my social media followers urged me to get off the fence and take a stance because, in their words, that election was too important to be neutral.

I am ashamed to say that I allowed myself to be persuaded by these pleadings and my own emotional, a tad irrational, desire for Nigeria to chart a new course away from that path it was on.

In this emotional state, I stated that as a diaspora Nigerian I did not have a vote but that if I could vote I would hold my nose and vote for Buhari, but only as a gamble for change since there was nothing in the man's record to inspire confidence.

Mine was a tepid, reluctant, and half-hearted endorsement if you could call it that. It was a non-endorsement endorsement. But it still was a public declaration of reluctant hypothetical support.

Even for this weak, late, and qualified acceptance of a deeply flawed candidate, I am now ashamed and feel a need to apologize to my inner, skeptical self, and to my compatriots who are now groaning under the jackboot of the resurgent dictator.

I should have maintained my neutrality.

As a historian and as someone who had written on Buhari's extensive baggage prior to 2015, I should have known that it was almost impossible for an old man to leave his checkered past behind and reinvent himself in both temperament and capacity.

I should have known that, as the popular cliché says, the past is usually a prologue to what to expect, what is to come.

In shedding my usual skepticism and critical distance, I became one of those who unwittingly joined and bolstered what has now unraveled to everyone's notice: an ethnic coalition that produced an ethnic victory, leading to disillusionment among those who were coopted, seduced, or otherwise tricked into believing in the genuineness of the change movement.

I now know that Jonathan was not ousted for being incompetent, weak, or corrupt but for losing the support of Tinubu and the Southwestern political elite who consider him their leader.

He lost the presidency because the North always regarded him as a usurper who was enjoying a presidential mandate stolen from them. When these two forces converged, Jonathan could not survive the resulting onslaught.

Support from the countervailing ethnic constituencies of the Southeast and South-South was simply not enough to keep him in power. That is the story of 2015, stripped of the pretentious rhetorical nonsense.

Many of those who did not join the coalition for ethnic reasons have since deserted it. Others who remain in the camp have replaced their initial aspirations with opportunistic self-interest.

This latter group is small, however. What remains of the 2015 ethnic coalition is largely the original ethnic nucleus of Southwestern and Northern elites — political and intellectual — united only by their thirst for power and its perks.

As for me, the lesson has been internalized for future referencing. I was never a Buharist in the traditional sense but I should have done more to puncture the case for him in 2014/15.

More importantly, I should never have yielded to pressure to abandon my neutrality in favor of an endorsement of Buhari, however qualified and half-hearted that endorsement may have been. Professor Ochonu can be reached at [email protected].

How To Make Granny Cake Recipe ~ Pineapple & Pecans ~ Secret Icing! - Duration: 3:29.

This cake recipe came from one of my old time cookbooks. I'm Tess and today I'm

making a Granny cake. Stay tuned!

This cake is easy and fun to make. You probably have most of the ingredients in

your pantry. Granny cake is a dense cake using a can

of crushed pineapple and topped with an icing when the cake is right out of the oven.

The results... well you will see at the end. In a large bowl I'm combining the flour,

sugar, salt, and baking soda. Giving that a good mix to combine. Next, I'm adding in

two large eggs that are at room temperature and a 20 ounce can of

crushed pineapple with the juices. And that's it for the cake. Giving that a

good mix to incorporate.

Just a reminder that you'll be able to find this recipe, the list of ingredients

and much more in the show more section below.

I've also included links where you can purchase online some of the ingredients

and equipment that I use in this video recipe. If you have a chance please check

it out. I have my oven preheating to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. I'm pouring the

batter into a well greased 9 by 13 pan and leveling out. Topping the cake with

some crushed pecans and sprinkling with some brown sugar. The original recipe

calls for about three-quarters of a cup to a cup of brown sugar but here I'm

using about a half a cup. With sugar in the cake, the brown sugar for the topping,

and there is sugar in the icing going on top... that can be really sweet. So you can

adjust the sugar level to your liking. This goes in the oven for 40 to 45

minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

While the cake is baking I'm making the icing for the top. This icing really

makes this cake. In a saucepan over medium-high heat I'm combining some

evaporated milk, sugar and butter and bringing that to a boil. Once it comes to

a boil I'm removing it from the heat and stirring in some pure vanilla extract.

The cake is done and it smells really good!

I'm evenly pouring over my icing and it will fill in all the gaps and soak down

into the cake, run down the sides and soak into the bottom. When the cake

completely cools to room temperature, the cake will have absorbed all the icing

and the top layer forms a nice crispy crunchy nutty crust topping. The Granny

cake is a dense moist cake almost like a brownie. The pineapple gives it a nice richness.

Let the Granny cake cool to room temperature so it absorbs all the

icing and then you can store it in the refrigerator. I hope you give this easy

and delicious Granny cake a try and enjoy.

Barbara Corcoran: How To Sell Your House Fast - Duration: 1:30.

If you're looking to sell your home, you want to make the most important rooms in

your house really shine. Every buyer judges your home it decides if they're

not going to buy it within the first 30 seconds. You want to spruce up the front

entrance to your house. Repaint the door, make sure the bushes, are good, make sure

the garden looks in order and power wash the sidewalk and the driveway. People

will judge the entire size of the house based on the living room. You want to

paint the living room. You want to get slipcovers, new lighting and of course a

bigger rug. Do you know buyers would judge the size of a room base of the

size of the rug. Go figure. And last, you want to make sure you make

the key improvements in your kitchen. Which basically is really just

resurfacing your cabinets or sometimes even just painting them and getting a

shiny new refrigerator. If you watch a buyer walk into any kitchen, the first

thing they do is open the refrigerator. Why I don't know you want to make sure

that refrigerator is brand new and neat as a pin. Because they think on the first

impression of seeing the inside of your brand new refrigerator that "this is a

nice kitchen." Even if the stove is old. So, if you want to sell your home fast you

have to remember that the buyer is going to walking is going to judge your a

place within 30 seconds. That's how much time you have to make an impression.

Full Face of New Affordable Drugstore Makeup | First Impressions | LipstickLayna - Duration: 22:00.

Hey guys, welcome back to my channel.

And if you're new, my name is Alayna

and today's video is going to be a video testing out

new drugstore goodies,

and I went to the drug store

and picked up some new products that I'm very excited about

because you know,

what, we don't always want to be spending our money

on high-end products.

Sometimes you want to look beats and Flawless

with drugstore product.

So I thought you know

what I should go to the drugstore

and pick up some products and try them out for you guys.

So that's what we're going to be doing this tutorial.

And also if you haven't hit your subscribe button honey,

what are you doing?

Go ahead and hit

that button as well as turn on your post notifications

so you can be notified every time I post a video

and we're going to go ahead and get right

into testing out these products.

Okay, so I went

to the drug store and I picked up a bunch of stuff.

And we're going to try out the new drugstore makeup today.

So we're just going to go ahead and get right into that.

The first product I picked up was the new Olay Miss

in the ultra hydration Essence and this was raised by Jackie.

I know if you don't watch Jackie.

Oh, no, you definitely need to she is freaking hilarious.

But she Raves so much about this spray.

So I wanted to pick it up and try it out

because if it's recommended by Jackie Ina,

it's got to be bong.

So this is what the spring looks like.

Okay, definitely has

like some kind of like fragrance to it,

but I'm fine with that.

But if you don't like anything

that has like a fragrance to it when you spray it on your face,

then definitely keep that in mind

when buying this product but it feels good makes my face look.

Okay.

We got a little do going on here.

So for brows, I this is not a new product.

But I'm going to be using the Covergirl soft brown pencil

and I love this brow pencil.

I've been using it lately

and it definitely gets the job done.

So we're going to go ahead and do our brows.

Okay, so I went ahead and finish my other brow off camera

and I went ahead and

Prime my eyes as well so we can go ahead and get right

into the eye shadow.

So the new palette I picked up today is

the mat bar by Maybelline.

So this eyeshadow palette comes with 10 eyeshadows.

They're all maps we're going to do a simple matte look and

yeah, we're just going to test out the eyeshadows

and hope their pigmented and they blend well,

so the first shade I'm going to be taking is

this shade right here,

and I'm going to be applying that all over my crease.

Okay.

Alright.

This y'all.

That shadow is pigmented.

You can definitely tell

that the drugstore companies

are stepping up their eyeshadow quality

on these eyeshadows are blending so beautifully in the crease

and it's about time.

It is about time

that they have stepped up their eye shadow game because honey,

I remember getting some eyeshadow and easy chalky there.

So I shout out there.

That is chalky

and don't be looking good or Blended out in the crease.

So okay.

We got us a cute base for eyeshadow next.

I'm going to be taking this shade right here.

in applying that in the crease And as you can see,

the shades are definitely layering on beautifully

they are blending out very nicely and is very pigmented.

Like I'm very

like I'm so impressed with the trip

like this drugstore eyeshadow palette now,

I'm going to take this shade right here.

And I'm going to apply

that all over my lid it picks up on the finger.

Well.

I actually really like this little eyeshadow palette

like I think this is a really good palette

to you know take with you

if you're traveling like this is the perfect eye shadow palette

to like have all your neutral colors

and and plus is drugstore

like this palette was not that expensive

and It is performing so good.

Actually, I'm going to pop some of that dark brown right here.

I want to test out the darker Shades in the palette.

Just a simple eye look but I highly recommend this palette.

I think it performed beautifully loved all the shades I use and

yeah, so so for Lashes I picked up this pair

from Kiss is from their lash Couture naked drama collection.

And this is the pair.

I picked up right here.

You can see

that the very wispy and these are the kind of lashes.

I like and I think they are so pretty

so I'm going to go ahead and apply these off camera as

well as some liner for primer.

I'm going to be using the Covergirl skin

smoothing primer actually already used this before

but I love this primer.

This is a really good drugstore primer

if you're looking for a smoothing primer,

so I'm going to go ahead and use

that So I picked up two foundations.

I picked up the Loreal infallible up to 24 hour

fresh wear foundation.

And then I picked up the Knicks

can't stop won't stop full coverage foundation

and I couldn't choose between which one I should pick up.

So I decided to pick up both

But whichever Foundation I don't using this video.

Please let me know.

If you would like to see a review on the other one.

I will definitely film that for you guys to let me know

that in the comments,

but let's see which one should I use you guys?

Should I use laurio or next time?

I don't know.

So I'm going to be taking the NYX foundation in the shade,

mahogany and applying this all over my face with a brush

and really excited.

It says it is up to 24 hours and it has a matte finish.

You can definitely tell that it dries down pretty fast.

Like I really haven't been blending

that out that long and it's already like dried down.

I don't know if you can tell but it was definitely

already dried ounce with a matte finish.

So we're going to go ahead and apply some on this side.

I think it has really good coverage on this side.

I think it definitely covered

up all of my I have a lot of uneven skin

and blotches all over my skin.

So I think it did a really good job.

Okay, look it was really good.

Okay.

So this is the foundation fully applied on I think

it looks really really good.

I like the coverage

that it is giving it definitely has a matte finish

but I have dry skin.

So I don't think it's like is sucking the dryness

in my skin like making my skin feel dry.

Very dry.

I think it's actually very comfortable.

It doesn't feel like I'm wearing any foundation.

So I'm very impressed with this foundation so far.

Let's hope that it wears well

and that it doesn't start looking cakey

or Emphasizing the lines

that I have my smile on so so far so good also for concealers.

I picked up the infallible full wear concealer

in the shade for 10 almond

and then I picked up the next can't stop won't stop concealer

in the shade golden, honey.

So since I went

with the next can't stop won't stop Foundation.

I think it's only best

for me to use the can't stop won't stop concealer as well.

So we're going to take this and apply it in the areas

that I need to brighten up my face.

All right, so we got the concealer.

This is in the shade Golden Honey and we're just

going to apply that in the areas you want to apply light.

And this applicator is very unique.

Definitely very different is very pointy and bent.

So I guess it's like good for like sharpening up right here

and this area look around your eye shadow.

And apply it on the other side.

This shade is actually very yellowish-orange

definitely not I color I would go for normally.

I feel like it looked a little bit lighter in the tube.

Am I tripping?

I don't know.

We're go with it.

Apply this on my nose.

It is definitely very full coverage.

And it is blending beautifully into the foundation.

Okay, so that's one side Blended out.

I don't know if you can tell but Yes,

this is the concealer Blended out all the way.

I think it looks really good.

I'm looking at it in person in my Mayor literally

doesn't emphasize any lines.

It is beautifully Blended out honey.

You can be be on a budget to don't get it twisted.

You do not have to spend all that money on expensive products

drugstore products can do the trick

to so I didn't find any setting powders from drugstores.

I'm just going to go ahead and use

my fancy Beauty setting powder.

And also I'm going to be using my Mac Studio fix powder

on my face as well to set my face

and then we're going to come back and get right into the rest

of products to try out.

So for bronzer will be using the colour-pop Rodeo Drive bronzer

to bronze up our skin and I absolutely love this bronzer.

This is not a new product for me,

but definitely a very affordable bronzer

that I think works beautifully

and blends out like a dream on the face.

And is pigmented so be careful.

So for drugstore blush,

I picked up the L'Oreal

and chanted sent it blush in the shade Fantastical

and we're going to apply this on our cheekbones.

Oh my God, it smells freaking amazing.

It smells like freaking peaches.

For highlighter.

I picked up the laurio especially a lot

of L'Oreal products.

Like I didn't realize how mean L'Oreal products uh picked up,

but they had a lot of new stuff.

So I picked up the Loreal Crush foiled metallic highlighter

in the shade gilded gold and this is what it looks like.

I'm not mad about our drug store face.

So I'm going to get a highlighter brush.

Let's pray.

Let's pray that the highlighter works out

and it is not chalky and it doesn't look.

Oh God y'all.

It's looking kind of.

chunky this even chunky in my brush.

So we're going to pray.

Oh God.

Okay, the highlighter no, it's a no it is like really

I don't know

if y'all can tell on camera but it is like really chunky.

Like I don't know even in the pan like

when I'm picking up the product.

It's just not like finely milled.

It just looks let's try it on this side.

Like can y'all see that?

I don't know if this.

I don't know

but it's like making my skin looked it shirt

and all I see is glitter particles all over my cheek.

Like it's not like finely milled highlighter.

It's just like glitter.

Okay.

I'm really disappointed

in the highlighter not feeling it.

No, this ain't it.

This ain't it?

And lastly I picked up this wet and wild

cat suit liquid lipstick in the shade Cedar lighter,

and we're going to apply that all over our lips.

Okay, so we have applied all the drugstore products

and I'm going to be

right back and let you know what my final thoughts are

on all the products we use in this tutorial.

Okay, so I'm back.

I'm going to let you guys know my final thoughts

on all the drugstore products.

We tried out in this tutorial.

So we're going to start with the old Les Mis.

I think the Spritz on the bottle is very fine.

I think it's sprays very nicely

on the face has a perfect missed.

I love that the smell the fragrance

that it gives I also think

that it'll makes your face feel

very hydrated is a very calming spray definitely everything

that it claims to do.

I think it does a wonderful job and I'm very impressed

definitely will be adding this to my Foundation routine.

So next we use the Maybelline Matt Barr eyeshadow palettes

and I actually really

Joy this palette especially for it coming from the drugstore

and the drugstore

they definitely struggle with eyeshadows making them pigmented

and then blending out perfectly with this eyeshadow palette.

I did not have any problems with any of the shades

that I use I will definitely keep using

this palette and let you know about all the rest of Shades

and the palette but for the shades

that I use for my eyes today,

I think it did a wonderful job.

It was very pigmented the colors blend beautifully.

It was minor fall outs and I highly recommend think this is

a perfect everyday palette

for someone to use especially for beginners.

Even if you're Advanced, I think this is also

something you should have in your collection.

It's the perfect size

for traveling and I really enjoyed it as for the eyelashes

that I applied.

I think they are very comfortable on my Lids.

I do wish they were a little bit more dense.

They're very fluffy,

but I feel like there's not enough density in them.

So that's one thing that I didn't like.

But other than that,

I think they're very long and wispy and very airy

and I do think

that they look good with a very simple eyeshadow look next.

We tried out the next can't stop won't stop

foundation in the shade.

Mahogany and I definitely did enjoy this Foundation more

than I thought I would it is very full coverage.

It has a matte finish but not to Matt's

where is drying out your skin,

but what this Foundation I do not feel like it is drying.

I feel like it definitely feels very comfortable on my face.

It does a very good job.

I feel like it looks Flawless

and it feels very lightweight and I really do feel

like I do enjoy this Foundation.

I would recommend this to anybody

that has dry skin or oily skin.

I think it will work with for both and I think

for the price point of it,

I think it is a wonderful Foundation to come

from the trucks and for concealer.

We tried out the can't stop won't stop coming.

Euler as well in the shade golden, honey,

and I think that the concealer blend it out beautifully

it I didn't have any problems.

I didn't think it dried down fast.

It actually was very very pigmented.

I do think that they can work on the shade range

in the concealers just a little bit.

I think the shades are

two yellow this shade still ended up working out for me,

but I would like it to be just a smidge bit lighter

on the shade that was below.

It was just a little too light for me.

But this shape this to work out.

I think it still looks very well and looks good

underneath the eyes it Blended out the rest of my makeup

and my setting powder went perfectly over it.

So I did not have any problems.

It did not crease.

It did not look any kind of crazy.

So I do think this is a very good drugstore concealer

if you're looking for a new one to pick up.

Okay, so for highlighter we use the Lore'l crushed

foiled metallic highlighter in the shade gilded gold.

Now out of all the products that I used in this tutorial.

This one by far was the most disappointing.

It looks gorgeous in the pan.

But for me,

it's just a little too chalky and it emphasizes

the texture of my skin,

which I do not like it is, um, very blinding.

But if you look at it

up close you can see so many glitter particles on my face,

which I do not lie.

I feel like this highlighter is definitely sitting

on my face and not really blending into my skin.

So this would definitely be a no for me.

So for blush we tried out the Loreal Paradise Enchanted blush

and I actually really enjoyed this shade.

I love a peachy blush.

I think it applied beautifully as well as gave me

like a little subtle glow before my highlighter,

so I enjoy and I enjoyed this.

Male is smells so good.

Like it smells like peaches.

So if you like stuff

that smells then they're definitely pick

up this product it performed.

Well, and I loved it so much

and last but not least is the wet and wild

liquid catsuit lipstick.

I think this is a very

pigmented High shine lipstick is exactly what it says.

I think it is beautiful absolutely love this color

and they had a bunch of color.

So if you don't like this color

that had a lot to choose from and I think it

definitely has to shine definitely has the pigmentation.

It feels comfortable.

My lips is not sticky

or anything and I really enjoyed it as well.

So I hope you guys enjoyed this tutorial

that I did using

all drugstore products and testing them out.

Don't forget to subscribe to my channel

BTS: The Big Never ft. Nic Pizzolatto | True Detective | Season 3 - Duration: 2:26.

The place you found yourself,

do you know why you might've wanted to go there?

Does it have any significance?

There's just literally dozens of noirs

called "The Big Something"

and "The Big Never" is a reference to what we're doing

with time and what's happening within Wayne's mind with time.

This story of his life, which he is losing,

is becoming "The Big Never."

WAYNE HAYS: Henry was, uh,

five or six, I think, when she started writing.

Becca would have been three or four.

NIC PIZZOLATTO: 70-year-old Wayne in 2015

having a hallucination about his dead wife

and the message she passes on to him.

AMELIA REARDON: Are you awakening to what you withheld?

Did you harden your heart against what loved you most?

Not like this.

AMELIA: Oh, sweetheart...

Did you think you could just go on

and never once have to look back?

Once of the reasons Wayne has been able to move forward

in life, past his experiences in the war,

is that he's not naturally reflective on the past.

And now, he's at a place in his life

where he has to look back.

And the way Mahershala and Carmen played that

elevated what was on the page

and was very affecting for me as a viewer.

Purple Hays. How you been, killer?

PIZZOLATTO: I liked seeing 1990 Roland

and 1990 Wayne coming back together.

New task force. I'm in charge.

That promotion for merit...

or did it come with the pigmentation?

You never been very funny.

You feel like maybe being a detective again?

'Cause that...

You were okay at.

I enjoyed their barbed banter, and then knowing

at the end of the episode that these two guys

are gonna go back to work.

We let go of the idea of those depositions

being what 1990 is about.

1990 is now going to take off as its own story.

After missed PI call, Saints have to live with own version of Tuck Rule Game - Duration: 4:26.

Sean Payton said it. He meant it. Nobody can deny it. And history supports it.  "We'll probably never get over it," the Saints coach said of his team Sunday, in a bleak press conference following an NFC championship game that, realistically, was stolen from them by a blatantly missed call

The Raiders, all things considered, never got over the Tuck Rule Game 17 years and one day earlier

A decade and a half from now, there might be a nickname for the atrocity the Saints experienced that will become a part of the game's lore and will haunt them indefinitely

It will be their version of the Tuck Rule Game. And, of course, the Rams' version of it, too

The Patriots were never the same, either, and neither was the NFL.  MORE ON NON-CALL:Social media reaction | Rams CB admits penalty  The Patriots kicked off minutes after the Saints stalked dejectedly and angrily off the Superdome field after the 26-23 overtime loss to the Rams — the Patriots in their eighth straight AFC title game, their 13th in 18 years, trying for their ninth Super Bowl trip and their sixth Lombardi Trophy

All dating back to Jan. 19, 2002, when the Tuck Rule saved Tom Brady and the Patriots and doomed Jon Gruden and the Raiders in a snowy divisional-round game

So no one can pretend one call can't turn a franchise on its ear and slam the door on its dreams

Nor should anyone pretend it was just another call, that they all even out, that there was still time for the wronged team to overcome it and win

Like with the Tuck Rule, an officiating decision negated a play that, barring a miracle or catastrophe, was the lone difference between winning and losing

The argument that the Saints should have still won the game in overtime is too convoluted to engage, for a simple reason: correctly whistle Nickell Robey-Coleman for pass interference, or head-to-head contact, or both, on Tommylee Lewis, and the Rams never touch the ball again

Payton and the Saints can't be begrudged their gloom or anger. Unlike their elimination via the Minneapolis Miracle last year, their fate was decided not on their mistakes, but by an entity entrusted in interpreting the rules correctly, something out of their control

That's the pain the Raiders suffered when their lock-down of their AFC title game berth in 2002 was blown away by referee Walt Coleman's review

Instead of their trip to Pittsburgh for a chance to play in Super Bowl 36, it was the last game of Gruden's first stint as Raiders coach

They went to the Super Bowl the next year, but they have not won a playoff game since, have only made the postseason once, and may now have played their last game in Oakland at all as they head to Las Vegas in 2020

It's hard to find a more obvious example of franchises landing on opposite escalators since then

The same goes for single horrifically missed calls having that effect … until Sunday night in New Orleans

WATCH: Jared Goff's best passes vs. Saints  As Payton pointed out, Sunday's non-call ended this version of the Saints, arguably the best since their Super Bowl team nine years earlier

This collection of players won't be duplicated again. Drew Brees will be a year older and a year closer to retirement

Shaking off last year's loss, or the one in 2012 in the final seconds to the 49ers, was no easy task

Shaking off an egregious officiating mistake might really be as impossible as Payton claimed

And where the Rams go from here? It's not a stretch to see this boost them into an era of dominance for the next five years … or 10 … or 18

 It has happened before.

The starting 11 changes Liverpool could make vs Leicester City - Duration: 3:40.

Liverpool will certainly be fresh when they return to the field against Leicester City for their next outing at the end of the month, enjoying an 11-day break after their 4-3 victory over Crystal Palace

The Reds made three changes for their victory over Palace as Naby Keita, Joel Matip and James Milner all came into the starting XI

However, all three could find themselves on the sidelines again against the Foxes

Having seen his side deal with their fair share of injuries over the festive period, manager Jurgen Klopp will be relieved by the break and hopeful of having a number of his absent stars available again for the clash with Leicester

Despite their spate of injuries, Liverpool have continued to pick up results and currently sit four points clear at the top of the Premier League table

With time piece his squad back together after a hectic run, these are the changes Klopp could make against Claude Puel's side

See how we rated the players in Crystal Palace victory Who keeps their place?  Alisson obviously, as will Virgil van Dijk and Andy Robertson barring any injuries at the Reds' warm weather training camp in Dubai

Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane all scored against the Eagles and start virtually every game regardless

With a week-and-a-half to go before Liverpool return to the pitch, that isn't going to change, while captain Jordan Henderson was superb against Palace and is likely to retain his place also

Who could drop out?  The obvious starting point, James Milner. Dismissed against Palace, the Reds vice-captain will definitely miss the Leicester game as he serves a one-game suspension

Fabinho is also a doubt after picking up a hamstring injury, while Keita is unlikely to retain his place after an under-whelming performance against Palace

Meanwhile, Matip could find himself under pressure to retain his place should Klopp's defensive woes lessen Who could come in?  Gini Wijnaldum, Joe Gomez, Dejan Lovren and Trent Alexander-Arnold are all currently sidelined through injury but will be hopeful of returning against Leicester should their respective recoveries progress well over the next week

Elsewhere, Xherdan Shaqiri is the most likely inclusion from those not to start against Palace, though the likes of Adam Lallana, Daniel Sturridge and Divock Origi will all have a chance to stake their claim in Dubai

Video Loading Video Unavailable Click to play Tap to play The video will start in 8Cancel Play now  Meanwhile, Rafa Camacho could find himself handed a first Premier League start at right-back if the likes of Fabinho, Gomez and Alexander-Arnold aren't fit to play

Who do you want to see start against Leicester City? Let us know in the comments section below

International Blues Challenge 1st place winner! IBC Winner The Keeshea Pratt Band's story - Duration: 13:27.

So what is IBC? What kind of contest did we win as The Keeshea Pratt Band?

International Blues Challenge, IBC for short.

It is a world biggest blues competition where over 200 bands will gather from all over the world.

In 2018, there were bands from Argentina, Australia, Belgim, Canada, Columbia

Croatia, Finland, France, Germany, Israel, Italy, Luxembourg

Netherlands, Norway, Panama, Philippines, Poland, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom, and United States.

It is held in the United States, Memphis, TN. The winner will get a chance to play at 9 blues festivals in the US,

some cash, you get to use showplace studios for recording etc.

Also your band name will be known in IBC so you'll have more chance to get a gig.

How I joined the band? I'm in a big band called Conrad Johnson Orchestra.

If you haven't seen them, please come see us at Emmit's place every first Tuesday of the month.

One day I was performing with them and this man came up to me and said "Hey we are going to form a band"

and that was our producer and the bassist, Shawn Allen.

very successful music producer.

I think 2017 April was the first rehearsal I had with them.

Then we started playing at some restaurants and bars.

To go to Memphis, first you have to win your local blues challenge

and represent your city.

There are many experienced great blues musicians in Houston.

So the was a big challenge for us. We practiced and practiced before the Houston blues challenge.

Houston Blues Challenge was held on 2017 September 24th at the venue called Big Easy.

and the final was held on October 1st at the venue called Fitzgerald's.

When we were chosen to be representing Houston among all those amazing blues musicians,

We were so happy I was so happy that I couldn't stop jumping. And in 2018 January, having Houston Blues Society's support on our back

We went to Memphis. In Memphis, there is a very famous street called Beale street.

And there are many music venues next to each other.

Even after going through local challenges, there were over 200 bands/groups.

So it is very hard to do a competition in just 4 days.

So all 200 bands will be divided in 12 or so music venues in Beale street. And those music venues will hold the competition at the same time.

about 10 groups will be playing at 1 venue. Then few bands will be able to go to the next step den that venue.

1st day and the 2nd day was like that.then the 3rd day is the Semi fimal, the 4th day is the final.

Did you know the word "quarter final?" it means the one before semi-final. I didn't know this english word!

Fortunately, our band was getting attraction from the 1st day and people started to come to wherever the venue we were playing at.

There were some people who couldn't go into the venue and they were listening out side when it was snowing.

Thank you guys!

Other great thing about IBC is that the connection you get with the people from all over the places. Different states in the united states, different countries.

And you get to play with them. There were actually jam every single night at different venues. And there were phenomenon blues players.(not competitioners)

Maybe they were visiting, or they were judges. But then you get to play with them if you were able to get up to the stage.

On the 4th day, we were blessed to play at the famous Orpheum Theater. I think there were 2500 people there that day.

We we were called as the 1st place winner, I felt that all that hard work has paid off.

I think Keeshea and I were crying even when people were taking pictures of us.

My mom surprised me by coming to Memphis all the way from Japan. And coinsidentaly we were able to win the IBC on her birthday at January 20th.

but, I am not experienced in playing blues music.

I didn't feel good.

There were no bands from Japan and there is no blues society in Japan.

So that's one of the reason, but I accidentaly got the title of "The first Japanese that was in the IBC winner band"

so I felt this is too much for me. When I first joined the band, I was so unfamiliar with blues

and I only knew about 12 bar chord progression. And I literally had no idea what the differences between

Blues and Jazz. I mean I knew some but I wasn't clear about it.

And I thought "It's so wrong

for me to be in the band that won the entire IBC" thats what I was thinking.

I was like "this is not right.."

Most of the people who come to Memphis to compete are very experienced in playing blues music. Many of them have been playing at different blues festivals.

Of course we wont the IBC as The Keeshea Pratt Band.

And I'm confident about the band. We ave very unique things that no other band has, we focus on greta performance,

Each one of us made a lot of effort in order to win the IBC. So I'm proud that the band got that title.

I think we as a band deserve it. But personally, I couldn't hold a candle to all these amazing blues musicians.

Thinking so I went back to Houston. And I was talking to the saxophone player who I respect so much, Brian Perez.

I was saying "We wont the IBC as a band but I just don't feel like "I" deserve it."

Brian just told me this. "It's actually a common thing. There are a lot of musician who

get that big title but then they grown into that title.

So you just have to work your way to that title you already have."

And that made me feel relieved. It's like

Oh, is that a way too?

So thank you so much Brian :)

I felt the pressure, I was impatient and I thought I need to be good NOW!

We will be on blues festivals a few months from now, by then, I have to be able to take a cool solo like other band members can do,

I have to be able to play bluesy.

I have to be able to play high notes with greta projection! But he people who I was comparing to were

musicians who have been playing blues or jazz 20 or 30 plus years and for me to think that I can get to where they are at now

within few month is unrealistic and it's almost rude by not respecting

What they must have gone through, how much effort they must have put in.

I started to realize those things. One day I was reading the book called "Practicing mind" and it said something like this.

If you see a flower bud that is not bloomed yet, would you ever say "Ugh! that's disgusting that flower is not bloomed yet!"

NO body would say that. Because a flower is a flower,

The flower that is trying to bloom is beautiful. It's like a same thing.

If I know that I am on my way to blooming, getting better, then I can't complain about that. because I have to go through that phase.

Also, Shawn, the producer, who brought me into this band... 79 00:10:04,160 --> 00:10:09,940 He will be telling me things like you're not doing this right, or

he would be showing me how far I am from where I need to be at, but he never said that I need to get out of the band.

Funny to say, but that's my motivation. I often think, oh my gosh I will be fired! I'm not doing it right!

but he only tells me to fix this fix that, and he never tells me that he is going to fire me lol I'm thankful for that.

One of the few compliment I got from him is that I work hard, and I'm a good student. So I need to do my best to live up to his expectations.

I don't want to let him down.

Since I was in music high school it was always my problem to be so harsh to myself

overly strict to myself and never appreciating how much effort I've put in, how much I've come.

So I'm working on it. Of course you have to get better as fast as you can but at the same time you have to have patience.

I have to improve a lot more but one thing I can trust myself about is that

I'm a kind of a person who keep making effort to get better so I'll just keep working!

Working steadily, every day. Ok, that's it for today.

I hope I didn't throw you guys off with talking English and Japanese back and forth.
