In the summer there were those who laughably thought Liverpool paid too much for Alisson

There were also camps suggesting Fabinho wasn't worth the money and Xherdan Shaqiri wasn't good enough before he came

Certainly seems like now is the time for those people to think again. All three players have been nothing short of sensational for Jurgen Klopp's side this season after moving to Anfield in the summer of 2018

Firstly, Shaqiri has been a revelation after signing for a comparably small £13

5million fee. The Swiss playmaker was Liverpool's cheapest incoming and raised a few eyebrows about just why the Reds had made the purchase

However, he has regularly been the midfield spark and his quick feet, direct attacking style and ability to hit a stinging free-kick have unquestionably proved the doubters wrong

Then, there is Fabinho. It took the Brazilian midfielder time to settle in to Premier League life but in late October made his first Premier League start and has rarely looked back since

He shields the defence, takes the ball off the toes of midfielders and thunders into challenges while dictating the play and driving Liverpool forward

He also offers something different to the rest of Klopp's engine room in the form tackles, interceptions, clearances and aerial duels all while out of possession being the Reds' new leader in the press

Fabinho's versatility and now proven ability to also play in the heart of defence, at right-back for his Brazilian national squad and in the centre of midfield has more than certainly proved his £39

3m worth. And not forgetting Alisson. The Brazilian shot-stopper signed in the summer for what was briefly a world-record transfer fee of £65m for a goalkeeper

Since arriving at Anfield he has broken a string of records and made an unbelievable start to his Reds career with his strong mentality being hailed as a reason behind why he is one of Liverpool's players of the season so far

Plus the fact that before the Crystal Palace match he had conceded just 10 goals in 22 Premier League matches and his well-documented distribution ability has been something to behold

His talent and prowess between the sticks has given Liverpool a really credible chance at winning their first ever Premier League title

Those in the aforementioned groups that believed the Reds shouldn't have signed any of those three players have been proved spectacularly wrong before the performances they have displayed and ability they have showcased

CIES Football Observatory have revealed that within the space of six months, Shaqiri, Fabinho and Alisson's value has risen more than most players across the globe

The Swiss-based boffins have conducted their latest study on the rising values of players in world football which saw Shaqiri ranked third highest, Alisson coming in at seventh and Fabinho ranked eighth highest to put three Liverpool summer signings inside the top ten best transfers in terms of market value

In the summer of 2018, the Swiss midfielder was bought for a reported €14.7m; come January 15, 2019, Shaqiri was valued at €55m - a staggering €40

"They are very strong in defence and also they improved a lot when they bought [Mohamed] Salah and now offensively they are a very big team

"I think the Premier League is now the best and most important competition in the world for the teams, with Spain, maybe Italy and Germany

That is the verdict of former Tottenham forward Garth Crooks, who has hailed Rashford following his moment of magic against Brighton on Saturday

Rashford has been one of the leading lights for Manchester United in the post-Mourinho era as Ole Gunnar Solsjkaer has utilised him through the middle
