Hi everyone. I'm Rincey and I am one of the

contributing editors over at Book Riot

and I am back with this week's reader question.

So this week was President Obama's last week as

president of the united states and there

were a couple of different articles that

I had seen come out this week that talked

about his life in reading. The first one

was an interview in the New York Times where

he talked about books and reading and

just a different books that have

influenced him during his time in office.

I will have a link to that article down

below and then the other one that I saw

was on Entertainment Weekly. That one

was just a list of all of the books that

President Obama has recommended over the

course of the past eight years.

It's pretty well known that President Obama

loved books. He is just as much

of a reader and any of us sitting here are.

So my question for you guys this

week is now that President Obama is

former President Obama, what books would

you recommend that you read your time off

He's clearly going to have

significantly more time read than he did previously.

So what kind of books do

you think we should recommend to him?

There's a couple different ways you can

go about this. You can like look at the

books that he has liked and maybe recommend

some that fall into his wheelhouse. Like he very

clearly love literary fiction and there

are very likely book said he hasn't read

yet because you know time. Or you go on

like the opposite of the spectrum and be

like, hey, even though you like literary

fiction, here are some other maybe genre

type fiction or maybe lighter stuff,

more fun stuff to read now that you

don't have to be one of the leaders of

the free world. Like part of me really wants

to recommend that he needs Crazy Rich

Asians just because I think he can use

a good laugh. But yet, just leave a comment down below

with your ideas because I just think that would be fun.

Spiced Crispy Okra Recipe (non-slimy) | Vegan/Vegetarian Recipe - Duration: 4:28.

Hello Everybody, we hope the new year has been good for you so far. To start off, our

first recipe of the year is this spiced crispy pan-fried okra which we showed in one of our

What We Eat videos and that many of you have been requesting ever since.

For some reason, after I made this recipe last year, I could not find nice tender okra

again which is a must for this recipe.

First wash the okra while still whole. Then

pat dry them on a paper towel or clean cloth. It is important to do this as otherwise the

water will splatter in the oil later when we will cook them and also the excess water

may make the okra slimy.

Now cut the stems off, then cut the okra into 1-2 cm or ½ inch pieces across.

Heat a skillet on medium high temperature, then add a tablespoon of coconut oil or any

other cooking oil. Once the oil is hot (but not fuming), add in the okra and stir.

Make sure the skillet is big enough so that the okra can fit in one layer. They will slightly

shrink when cooked. Let the okra cook on medium high heat while

stirring every 5 minutes or so until the okra is half-cooked (about 12 - 15 minutes, depending

on how tender they are).

Meanwhile mix the chickpea flour, coconut flour, coriander powder, turmeric and paprika

in a small bowl. I make my own coconut flour at home and you can find a video on how I

do this on the channel. Check the description for the link. If you don't have coconut

flour, you can use very fine desiccated coconut instead.

A little sidenote, when I am not cooking or making videos, I like to crochet. And I made

this cast iron handle covers as, more often than not, I forget to reach for my pot holders

and burn my hand on the handle. I made them extra thick so that the heat does not come

through. I'll be placing some of these crochet hot handle covers in our Etsy shop soon. So,

if you like them too, you can check the description for the link to our shop.

When the okra is half-cooked they will slightly shrink and will be a little darker in colour.

Add the lemon juice. Then immediately add the salt and stir.

Add the flour and spice mixture. Mix well with the okra

and cook for another 5 – 8 minutes, until the chickpea

flour is nicely roasted but take care not to burn it. Then turn off the heat.

Coconut and chickpea flour not only add to the taste and crispiness but also absorb the

excess moisture to yield non-slimy okra. I love okra in any way, slime or not. But

if you don't particularly enjoy the slime, then this recipe is one for you to try.

You can serve this okra warm as a side dish with rice and curry or with a salad.

because It was very sudden

without any kind of promo

I'm excited, I don't know what to expect

I saw pictures of the outfits and stuff

but really don't know what to expect

I'm shocked

I like "Touch" but this song isn't "Power" or "No More Sad Songs"

I'm disappointed because they didn't choose a single

that could hit USA radio charts

because that's the market they wanna hit

for what I saw there's going to be a coreography

Salute was all about that

but at the end of the day what sells is this kind of video

There's "Little Me" that is one of my favorite videos

and It doesn't have a lot of views as the others

and It's a great message

Third Eye Activation - Perception Beyond Physical - Sadhguru - 2017 - Duration: 8:57.

[Sadhguru] So, what is referred to as a third eye is, we always said Shiva will open his

third eye and he can burn up the whole existence if he wants.

You need to understand this is a dialectical culture.

You don't take these things literally, logically.

You need to always read behind it.

Unfortunately, people start interpreting it as a logical thing and its whole thing is

so badly distorted.

Dimensions which cannot be expressed logically are always packed up in these kinds of stories

so that they are preserved without distortion.

So, Shiva opens his third eye and either everything burns up or he sees everything clearly.

So, third eye is not a physical thing.

It is just that if your energies reach a certain peak within you, you have a new clarity of

vision of life.

You see everything from a completely different dimension.

So, you start seeing things.

It's an inner eye we say.

We can say you can turn it inward or outward - whichever way you turn it.

So, these eyes are only outward.

You can't role your eyeballs inward and see what's within you, isn't it?

So, third eye is both ways.

If you want, you can turn it inward or you can turn it outward, whichever way you are

seeing life beyond the normal limitations of your perception.

Your perception has risen beyond the physical - that is the third eye.

Why is it connected to a particular spot in your body?

Among the seven chakras, the sixth dimension is called as Agna.

Agna is located slightly above the… where the eyebrows meet.

There are three dimensions attached to it.

These three dimensions are traditionally named after Shiva, three different forms of Shiva,

but these three are actual experiential points in the body where if your energy moves to

that point, your experience of life alters itself.

The whole process of whatever spiritual process you are doing consciously or unconsciously

is fundamentally to move to a higher plane of perception, isn't it?

Yes?

You call it God, you call it Kundalini, you call it yoga, you call it what you want, but

fundamentally the whole thing is to raise your perception from a limited physical perception

to a higher possibility.

So, if your energies are in the lowest chakra, which is referred to as the Muladhara, food

and sleep will be the most dominant factors of your life - only food and sleep.

You will not know anything else.

If energies move into Swadhishthana, then you are a pleasure seeker.

You enjoy the physical world in so many different ways.

If your energies move into Manipuraka, then you are a doer in the world, you are an achiever.

If your energies move into anahata, you are a creative person, maybe you are an artist,

you are a painter, you are something, you are more creative about life.

If your energies move into Vishuddhi, if they became dominant there, you are a power house.

Power need not mean just mean this.

Human beings can be powerful in so many different ways.

So, this is the power center.

If energies move into your Agna, then you have clarity of vision.

Now, you are intellectually realized - not experientially realized, intellectually realized.

You touched a point where life cannot disturb you.

Life cannot take a toll on you because intellectually you are realized, but still you are not ecstatic

in any way.

You don't know the ecstasy of life, but you have stability of life – nothing can

touch you, nothing can disturb you, you've come to that point.

From the lowest point of Muladhara to Agna, there are many ways of reaching there.

There are so many paths, a million different paths of how to get there, but from Agna to

Sahasrar, there is no way.

It's a pathless path.

This is a reason, why lot of people are talking only about peace, because they only got till

here and they don't know what's beyond.

So, they are assuming and concluding that this is all there is because there is no particular

path or method to get beyond.

There are no particular methods or there are no methods.

When all methods are dropped, only then from Agna to Sahasrar one will reach.

If your energies touch your Sahasrar, the topmost chakra, you will become ecstatic like

for no reason, simply you are ecstatic.

You don't need any external stimulus.

You will see those of you who come to the Bhava...

Spandana… simply ecstatic - nothing is happening.

Nobody is telling you beautiful things nor did you win a lottery, nothing.

Simply you are ecstatic, just blowing like that because your energies are hit, the Sahasrar.

So, from here to here, there is no journey.

So, when you come here, if you can turn this third eye inward, only then you see that there

is no way.

The only way is to jump.

To jump into total emptiness, either you must be crazy or you must have absolute trust in

somebody else's word.

These are only two ways you can jump into nothingness, isn't it?

Either you must be crazy that you don't care what happens to you or you have so much

trust in somebody.

If he says jump, you will anyway jump.

These are only two ways.

So, the third eye is something that gives you a total clarity of how things are, how

life process is.

When I say life, don't think of life in terms of waking up in the morning, eating,

going to the party, not that life – fundamental life, life as you, life as an entity, life

as a basis of existence right now.

When…

Once you have a clear vision of this, then the way you function and the way you conduct

your life is very, very different.

So, once your third eye opens, it is not that this is going to split and open up, your perception

has risen beyond the physical.

You have started seeing that which is beyond the physical.

[Questioner] Have you heard about those schools and they have them blind so that they develop

this ability to do remote healing and…?

[Sadhguru] No.

Those schools are fundamentally trying to develop the intuitive nature of the mind,

but I am not talking about the mind when I say,'the third eye.'

See, mind is capable of fantastic things by itself.

You have not explored even a small percentage of the mind's capabilities.

Human beings have not explored even a very small capabilities of the mind.

What they are trying to do by closing off the eyes for a certain period is, to develop

an intuitive mind.

See, for example, a person who is visually handicapped, his sense of the other four senses

are very high, isn't it?

Have you noticed this?

Their capability is so uncanny about how they hear things, how they know things, just by

the direction of the sound is so uncanny.

So, that is about heightening a certain aspect of the mind so that they become intuitive.

That's a different dimension.

If…

Even in India, people who want to train in astrology, people who want to train in predicting

other people's lives and things, they shut their eyes off for long periods, so that they

learn to use their mind in a particular way.

When I say third eye, we are not talking about the mind at all.

It doesn't involve the normal process of the mind.

It's a different dimension by itself.

Best Coffee Advice | ECT Weekly #005 - Duration: 6:06.

Hello, this is another weekly episode!

This one will be slightly different

Today we will show you pieces of the best interviews we did last year

In every interview we ask one question:

"What is the best piece of advice you would give to a person who just starts in a coffee business?"

This weekly video is a compilation of the best answers that we recived

so let's start!

I think what has driven my curiosity is that I am never really happy with coffee.

It is ok to sit down and enjoy cup of coffee and say this tastes really great but I know that it can be better.

If you know that your coffee can be better then you automatically start to investigate stuff and question stuff.

Stay open minded is an advice that everybody says but try to stay open minded

but don't be afraid to take a stand but at least investigate stuff and questing things.

Don't take whatever I say or whatever some authority says for granted. You should investigate it.

Also believe in your own taste. Don't let people to tell what they think should be good to you.

If you really love something just follow that dream and try to perfect that.

Because coffee is quite diverse so we are not suppose to like all the same things.

Don't change things just because people tells you that this is great, change it because you feel it is great.

That is my best advice.

Barista Camp would be a great start to learn a lot. To get some basic knowledge. To get to know the people.

For me visiting events, visiting shows and volunteering would be the most beneficial to everybody.

That is how I started in coffee. I did my barista course but then I started volunteering and

I went to WoC in Cologne, knew nobody when I came there but knew everybody when I left.

Volunteering is such an amazing path to meet so many people

especially in this in between zones between judges and competitors which means you can talk to everybody.

You can talk to organisers and it give you such amazing network and

if you are in that network you need to invest in your own education.

Tell people that you are interested to learn. Because a lot of people would say something like

'i want to be a judge' and my answer would be 'did you tell anybody?'. And they come to me.

No! You have to step forward, you have to do it. Put yourself out there!"

People need to do what I did when I started DCILY.

Just start asking yourself questions and then figuring out what you actually feel about certain things.

Developing your own ideas, your own theories, your own questions

but then testing them out, trying them out, challenging them.

Than also work on a social skills and hospitality. Try harder to make customers happy.

Everyone get into the coffee for different reasons but a big part of it is people.

Like coffee brings people together and it is ultimately to make people happy with good coffee.

I think you have to be a friendly person in order to do that well

because coffee can't make you happy on its own.

People underestimate roasting. Which is, if you ask me, the most fundamental part of the whole chain.

The roaster should be knowledgable about every aspect of coffee

from processing, harvesting to how to brew it or also the customer relationship

so I think he is like a renaissance guy of coffee

If they want to be a roaster, they should read a lot. About green beans, about everything.

Also they should be knowledgable about technical aspects such as how the roasting machine works,

they should know about some chemistry and physics

but they should also have a good setup for their roastery.

so they shouldn't underestimate the knowledge behind it, the difficulties behind it

I would suggest them to think couple of time before going into the roasting business.

[Overwatch] LoLQ Theory: Lúcio's Weapon Is Actually a Weapon of Mass Destruction? - Duration: 3:20.

Lúcio, a support hero in Overwatch.

But in reality, Lúcio is a walking armory, a weapon of mass destruction.

Why?

Lúcio, in fact, shoots nukes at people en masse.

Before we take a look at Lúcio, let's first explore the concept of sound.

Sound is a wave that travels through the air,

and is perceived through an organ that most animals have, the ear.

The ear is consisted of the internal ear, which senses balance and pressure,

and the external ear, which is seperated by the eardrum.

The eardrum is the receptor of sound. and the external ear, which is seperated by the eardrum.

The eardrum is the receptor of sound.

So, damage to your eardrums result in loss of hearing.

The frequency and magnitude of sound is measured in Hertz(Hz) and decibels(dB).

So decibels is basically the volume of the sound.3

The noise of a jet engine is louder than that of the blades of a spinning fan, So decibels is basically the volume of the sound.3

The noise of a jet engine is louder than that of the blades of a spinning fan,

so the jet engine has more decibels.

The decibel is a logarithmic function, and with an increase of 10 the sound is amplified 10 times.

This is a bit complicated, so to explain,

a 130dB sound is ten times louder than a 120dB sound.

Since the math is multiplicative, not additive,

so only a 10dB difference means a huge boost in volume.

The average volume of sound that a human can listen to is about 85dB,

and 130dB is required for permanent hearing damage.

Let's take a look at the decibels of everyday objects.

A pin dropping is 15dB.

Quiet whispers in a library is 40dB.

Everyday dialogue, like the one I'm doing right now, is about 60dB.

Now let's look at decibels over 194dB.

The upper limit of audibility in 1 atmospheric pressure is 194dB,

and the atmosphere cannot mediate sound waves above this magnitude.

Sound is a wave trasmitted through air,

and waves above this magnitude lose the quality of sound, becoming a shockwave.

A shockwave consists of noncontinuous changes in air pressure,

and is transfered in supersonic speeds.

The crash that a jetplane makes is an example of a shockwave.

So sounds above 194dB become a shockwave,

and for these shockwaves to outright kill a person like THIS,

we need a sound of 270dB.

270dB...

In comparison, the shockwave from a nuclear blast is about 270dB.

So, when Lúcio's busy ramping his beat up, going wild,

this signals a state of national emergency.

Every time he goes up and boops someone, there's a Hiroshima.

While he's busy healing his teammates, he'll appear all over breaking news,

the army will round up their soldiers,

Of course everyone like this...

here you can spend time with animals

Most of the time, drinking tea of coffee

that is the point of a 'cafe'

it's included in the price

Agree or disagree with the concept...

I can assure you that all the cafe

I did, every single animal was in good health

No stress

No frustration

They were free

feed and hugged as will

No mistreatement as far as I can see

to be honest

I'd never touched a rabbit before

And I really wanted to go to this one

Here, precisly, at Mimi

which means ears in Japanese

rabbits were said to be more dynamic

But I also remember a girl

with pink hair, she said that she want people to dye their hair pink

Because it's the year of Chiken

Even if Japanese people use the same calender than me

They enjoy using the Chinese calendar

They can use the different animal in their daily lives

Because it's funny...

And one can sell product with these animal on it

And Japanese people like money.

Before he was dancing with wolves he was dabbling with a mouse.

Embodying that casual yet hardworking look complete with just slightly mussed up hair, blue jeans and a shirt that says "I'm professional but I'm not going to acknowledge the top two buttons here," Kevin Costner helped showcase the workplace efficiency that would be ushered in by Apple.

The computer released on Jan. 19, 1983, its commercial highlights the Lisa's revolutionary new accessory, the first ever computer mouse.

Moreover, the simplicity offered by the Lisa and its pioneering implementation of a graphical user interface suggest an unparalleled ease for business users much in the same way that Costner freely leaves his bicycle in the lobby of his office building despite the janitor trying to mop the floor.

Once upon a time, Kevin Costner introduced the world to the Apple Lisa, released 34 years ago this week.

Sorry, custodian, the future star of "Waterworld" has computer-related business to attend to.

Beyond its display and mouse, the Lisa introduced features that were ahead of their time for better or worse.

According to Macworld, the computer's operating system may have been the only OS in history to allow the creation of duplicate file names.

Likewise, a tap of the Lisa's power button would gradually shut down the system, saving any open documents you had while backing up window and application positions for the next time you power up the machine.

Unfortunately, the Lisa was also a pioneer in software restrictions. If you installed a program on one computer, it was permanently locked to that device, never to be shared.

As for the commercial itself, it would soon be dwarfed by another Apple advertisement.

A pre-"The Untouchables" Costner and his "Turner & Hooch"-style pooch aside, the effort wasn't nearly as shattering (literally and otherwise) as the tech monolith's Ridley Scott-helmed "1984" production in which a woman hucks a sledgehammer through a giant Big Brother-esque video screen all in the effort to promote Apple's latest computer, the Macintosh.

As with their respective commercials, the Macintosh, the first mass-market personal computer, quickly overshadowed the Lisa, its $10,000 precursor. (About $24,000 today.)

Fire tears through nightclub in Romania, leaves 44 injured - Duration: 1:29.

BUCHAREST, Romania — Fire engulfed a popular nightclub in Bucharest, the Romanian capital, early Saturday, sending 44 people to the hospital, including one who was seriously injured, officials said.

The fire erupted in the early hours at the upscale Bamboo nightclub, which was burned to the ground. Most people suffered from smoke inhalation, according to the Romanian capital's ambulance service, while others were injured as they reportedly leapt from the upper level of the lakeside club to escape the flames.

Hundreds were reportedly in the club at the time.

Interior Ministry spokeswoman Monica Dajbog said 44 received hospital treatment, and by Saturday evening five were still hospitalized. Some party-goers who rushed outside without picking up their coats suffered hypothermia in the 10 degree cold.

The fire evoked memories of the disaster at another Bucharest nightclub in October 2015, which killed 64 people— the worst nightclub fire in the country's history.

Prosecutors have opened an inquiry into the Bamboo fire but there was no immediate word on its cause.

Witness Corina Anghel told private television station Digi24 that people were smoking upstairs and the roof caught fire. She also said waiters served bottles of drinks with sparklers attached. Indoor fireworks and smoking inside public places are illegal in Romania.

Bamboo has several clubs in Romania, and one in Miami, Fla. It first opened in Bucharest in 2002 and was rebuilt after it was destroyed by a fire in 2005.

Alec Baldwin absent from 'Saturday Night Live' despite claims he would play Trump in post-inaugur... - Duration: 1:39.

President Trump impressionist Alec Baldwin was missing from "Saturday Night Live" despite pledging to appear on the post-inauguration episode.

Baldwin told EXTRA nearly two weeks ago he would portray Trump the day after the inauguration.

"We're going to play him the day after the inauguration, we're doing SNL the day after the inauguration," he said.

As the show aired, viewers expecting Baldwin's acclaimed caricature of the commander-in-chief were greeted instead by a barechested Beck Bennett as Russian President Vladimir Putin.

It's unclear why Baldwin failed to appear on the sketch show. A publicist for the repeat guest did not immediately return a request for comment.

Despite his absence, Baldwin was not entirely off-the-grid Saturday night.

Alec Baldwin's didn't appear in SNL's opening skit, which starred Beck Bennett as Vladimir Putin.

Just as SNL started, he penned a series of tweets urging droves of anti-Trump protesters, especially those who rallied behind the Women's March nationally, to not let their dissent lose steam.

"All of today's rallies, marches, protests are a beginning. The great responsibility now is to keep those fires burning," Baldwin wrote, having impersonated Trump while attending a rally Thursday night outside the Trump International Hotel & Tower next to Central Park.

"Trump and his kleptocratic handlers are banking on everyone hitting the wall, burning out. They are counting on your fatigue."

He later remarked on White House press briefing where Sean Spicer falsely claimed that Trump's inauguration attracted a larger crowd than any other president.

"Sean Spicer reminds me of Sean Hanitty: another hopped up, no talent white boy who thinks he's right and clever. Both are neither," Baldwin added.

Fugitive reality competition 'Hunted' takes aim at CBS - Duration: 2:30.

Now bad guys can add CBS to the vast resources of information already on the internet about how to evade the law.

Or can they?

"Hunted" is a new, adrenaline-fueled reality competition debuting Sunday (after the AFC Championship game) that pits 18 contestants against an army of expert human hunters with backgrounds in the FBI, CIA, NSA, U.S. Marshals and nummerous other agencies known only by their letters to keep Vanna White busy for a decade.

On each episode they try to track the contestants who attempt to evade capture within a 100,000-square-mile zone that encompasses all of Georgia and South Carolina along with northern Florida and eastern Alabama. The series moves to Wednesdays on Wednesday, with a special two-hour episode, at 8 p.m.

To catch their prey, the hunters get to use the latest in crime-busting technology and of course rely on old-fashioned detective work.

Some of it may be informative for real criminals, admits one of the show's stars, Lenny DePaul, former Commander, U.S. Marshal Service.

But good luck trying to put the info to use in real-life situations, he adds.

"The bad guys could probably attempt to utilize or leverage some of the tricks we use," says DePaul. "But today you can just go on the internet and pretty much find out anything — it's one thing to know something, applying it is a whole different ball game."

Former Commander with the U.S. Marshal Service Lenny DePaul says real-life criminals may have a tough time applying the show's strategies to their pursuits.

DePaul says movies and TV shows like "NCIS" have already made it clear to most real-world fugitives that law enforcement will be investigating their cellphone records, Web history and social media posts.

The hunters can also rely on air support, dogs, high-tech gizmos and up-to-the-minute intelligence from a command center overseen by Robert W. Clark, a former senior FBI official, Theresa Payton, a former White House Chief Information Officer, and DePaul.

"We don't give up 'trade secrets'" says DePaul. "If you're on the run, you can guess what we're looking at, maybe license plates or some camera somewhere on the corner of some street — the public isn't stupid, they know what's out there," says DePaul.

"Criminals also know and while they try and stay ahead of the curve — but we (law enforcement) are so far out in front of the curve, it's not even funny."

People's behavior also changes when people are fugitives, says DePaul, and they get sloppy.

"When it comes down to it, when someone is on the run, human instincts turn into animal instincts and that is a game changer."

With a quarter of a million dollars on the line — it better be.

Goodbye to all that: Trump's biggest threat is to the unwritten norms that hold our government an... - Duration: 8:57.

There was a moment at Donald Trump's chaotic first press conference as President-elect last week that offered a disturbing insight into the dark place to which America is headed over the next four years.

In responding to a question about disentangling himself from his business empire, Trump basically told the assembled journalists that he doesn't need to do it.

"I have a no-conflict-of-interest provision as President," said Trump. "So I could actually run my business, I could actually run my business and run government at the same time."

While Presidents and other federal officials are, in fact, bound by ethics and federal disclosure rules, Trump is actually not completely wrong here. He has no legal obligation to separate himself from his various business enterprises or even his larger financial holdings.

What requires a President or any public official to disentangle themselves and avoid even the appearance of conflicts of interest are the norms, customs and traditions that have long guided the actions of America's political leaders.

Understanding these unwritten rules of propriety and their larger personal responsibilities in the context of public service, Presidents and hundreds of other public officials have created blind trusts, divested their holdings or released financial information. Because that is the basic tradition of modern American politics.

This willingness to abide by such political norms is perhaps the most important feature of American governance. Our Constitution, our laws and our governing institutions provide a basis for the proper functioning of democracy. But these institutions are only as strong as the willingness of political leaders to abide by them and to ensure that they don't become debased or corrupted.

Herein lies the fundamental problem that is now upon us with a Trump presidency. He doesn't respect these norms. He doesn't understand them.

And the party of which he is a member, which controls Congress, has shown no interest in ensuring that he lives up to them.

As a result, destructive behavior, from directly profiting off public service and intimidating and investigating political enemies in a manner that would have made Richard Nixon blanch to bringing back torture and attacking the very credibility of news organizations who report things that Trump doesn't like, could become fully normalized.

None of this should come as a surprise. After all, Trump's presidential campaign was a near-daily, and fairly gleeful, exercise in political norm-shredding.

This was a candidate who never turned over his tax records, even though presidential candidates had done just that for 40 years, out of respect for the public's need to understand a presidential aspirants potential financial conflicts.

Trump is under no legal obligation to disclose his taxes, but since we don't know Trump's financial links we also don't know his connections to foreign banks or foreign leaders and the ability of these actors to blackmail him. Going forward, it's hard to imagine why any candidate for President would release their taxes.

In light of Trump's candidacy and victory, it's also hard to imagine why future candidates would feel any fealty to the truth and not simply lie and mislead on an almost daily basis.

It's hard to imagine why they would avoid talking about jailing their opponents or musing that they'd refuse to concede if they lose.

It's hard to imagine why they'd feel reluctant to use a steady stream of racist, xenophobic and misogynist statements to demonize whole groups of Americans and foreigners if they believed it would be in their political interest to do so.

After all, Trump did all these things and it was seemingly not enough of an impediment to stop him from winning the presidency. The rules of political campaigns that have existed for decades are quite likely to be discarded - and inevitably our democracy will be further degraded, and the electorate will become more polarized than even it is today.

All this, however, is an issue for four years from now. In the meantime, we have to grapple with a more pressing fear: that the same candidate who regularly ignored basic campaign norms will ignore basic governing norms. If the two-and-a-half months since Trump was elected President are any indication, that is where we are headed.

Trump has openly questioned the integrity of the voting system by saying that 3 million illegal votes were cast for his opponent, Hillary Clinton. Trump has also repeatedly said that he won a landslide victory and that his win was one of the biggest in American history. Of course neither of those assertions are true.

In reality, he lost the popular vote by 3 million ballots, and his Electoral College win was relatively slim by historical standards.

While the norms of presidential transitions are perhaps slightly less expansive than other democratic norms, one has long remained sacrosanct: America has one President at a time. In practice, that means the President-elect holds his powder until he takes office and doesn't wade into policy discussions.

Trump, however, has openly conducted domestic and foreign policy during his transition. With Vice President-elect Mike Pence, he worked out a tax deal with Carrier to keep the company from shipping 800 jobs out of Pence's home state of Indiana to Mexico. He interjected himself into U.S.-China policy by taking a congratulatory phone call from the Taiwanese president — and putting in question America's One China policy.

He openly criticized the Obama administration for its abstention from a United National Security Council Resolution on Israeli settlements and apparently colluded with the Israeli government in an effort to block the resolution.

On Russia and its hacking of the Democratic National Committee, he has consistently questioned intelligence community assessments identifying Russia's involvement. He has even praised Vladimir Putin, the man responsible for the cyberattacks, for showing restraint in responding to Obama's imposition of sanctions over the incident.

Anti-Trump protests erupt during inauguration

While these are among the worst of his actions, Trump has also upended, and with very little resistance, one of the nation's most essential democratic norms: civilian control of the military. By picking James Mattis, a recently retired general, as secretary of defense, he's undermined the symbolic ideal that the Pentagon should be run by a civilian. At the same time, he's appointed another former general, John Kelly, as head of Homeland Security.

Indeed, Trump's entire approach to his cabinet has gone against the grain of longstanding political custom. He has appointed individuals like Rex Tillerson for State, Ben Carson at Housing and Urban Develoment and Nikki Haley as Ambassador to the United Nations. All have little experience in the issues handled by the agencies or embassy they would head.

He's picked far-right politicians, business leaders and activists, like Ryan Zinke for Interior, Scott Pruitt at the EPA, Besty DeVos at Education and Andrew Pudzer at Labor, who are openly hostile to the mandate of their agencies.

And he's selected Jeff Sessions to be attorney general, even though 30 years the Senate rejected him for a federal judgeship because of openly racist statements and beliefs. Trump has made no effort to bring moderate views into his cabinet or offer an olive branch to his opponents.

In fact, if anything Trump has used his bully pulpit (primarily Twitter) to mercilessly attack his political opponents, corporations whose actions he disapproves, actors and actresses who've been critical of his behavior and even private citizens who have disagreed with him. It should almost go without saying that such actions are not normal in any American political context.

He has also shunned the media. At his combative press conference he openly derided a major news organization, CNN, as being a "fake news" outlet because he doesn't like their reporting.

This is what is ultimately so concerning about Trump's actions over the past two months. He's given no indication that he believes the normal rules of either campaigning or governing apply to him.

In no area is that more true than when it comes to his personal finances and potential conflicts of interest.

Trump will not divest himself of his business holdings; he won't create a blind trust, and he won't release his taxes so that the depths of his conflicts are fully understood and appreciated.

As he made clear earlier this month, in bragging about his decision to turn down a $2 billion from a developer in Dubai, he was still being offered real-estate deals as President-elect — and wanted credit for rejecting them.

Indeed, he has met repeatedly with business partners and allowed his children, who will be running his business after he becomes President, to sit in on high-level transition discussions. He's also violated the spirit of anti-nepotism laws by making his son-in-law, Jared Kushner, a top White House advisor.

The opportunity for corruption is simply astonishing. Because Trump fully knows the extent of his business holdings, he also would fully understand how his decisions as President could impact them. He would also know if any individual or company or government was trying to use those business interests to curry favor with him.

In fact, we have no way of knowing if Trump has investments in the companies that he criticizes or praises on Twitter — and is using the drop or rise in stock prices that comes from his statements to personally profit.

Already Trump is almost certainly in violation of the Emoluments Clause of the Constitution, which prohibits any president from accepting gifts or payments from foreign governments. Any foreign guest staying in his hotels; any transactions made by the Trump Organization with a foreign entity; any favorable regulatory decision for an overseas Trump hotel would create a constitutional crisis.

Most Presidents would do everything they could to avoid such a situation because of the appearance of conflict and the assumed mandate to place the nation's needs above their own. But nothing requires that. It's not clear that any individual has standing to sue the President or to force him to cease and desist.

That power resides solely with Congress.

Here is perhaps the most dangerous aspect of Trump's disregard for political norms. Congress could require Trump to divest himself. They could force him to be more transparent.

And if he failed to act, they could remove him from office.

But we know this is not going to happen, because congressional Republicans, by and large, have shown utter indifference to Trump's steady stream of norm violations. Either they don't care, because Trump as President gives them the opportunity to push forward with their ideological agenda, or they're too afraid to speak up and risk alienating Trump's supporters.

If Trump is allowed to continue doing all that he has done so far in the transition — and does all that he seems inclined to do once he takes office — without any check from Congress, it will fundamentally, perhaps permanently, erode our democratic institutions. America may be the oldest democracy in the world, but we've held that honor because of an adherence to basic and agreed-upon customs and norms. A democracy that cuts itself off from those traditions is a democracy on a slippery slope to oblivion.

Just as the rooster was about to sleep,

he saw the red fox standing down!

"Have you heard of the wonderful news?"

cried the Fox in a very joyous and excited manner?

"What news?" asked the rooster calmly.

The rooster was afraid of the fox,

and he knew that the fox was here with some wicked plans!

"Your family and mine and all other animals

have agreed to forget their differences,

and live in peace and friendship from now on forever!

But he spoke in an absent way,

are headed this way.
