a holographic companion called Hu Po.

It's not available in the West so there's going to be a lot of Chinese.

Hu Po is a bit like Alexa or Siri but it can also sing and dance,

sort of be a digital friend.

Like in the latest Bladerunner movie, but little and in a box.

I know in the West people look down on this sort of thing,

but I don't think there's any shame in it,

sometimes music or books keeps us company,

I talk to my stuffed animals- why not a computer?

It's better than being lonely.

Anyway let's take a look at it and see how close we are getting to a virtual friend as

good as the real thing.

So this is made by a company called Gowild.

I believe they are manufactured in Shenzhen.

And the name is Hu Po in Chinese.

Now let me remove the plastic.

No. 21 Plugging Your Bass Into A Computer - Duration: 2:19.

Hi, this is Greg from Greg Bass shed, in this video

I'm going to show you how to plug your bass into a computer to practice or to record. So the interface looks like this.

I plug this into my laptop via firewire.

But you can plug into any computer obviously and most of the newer models of interfaces

now come with just USB. If you're looking at the Apogee online, you'll probably notice that there's an Apogee Duet 2 now.

So that's yeah. it's got a bit of black on it with silver and that fundamentally, but they do the same thing

So with the interface you can plug different instruments.

You can plug basses, guitars, keyboards and also you can

plug a couple of mics in so then all you need to do is download the software,

install that on your computer and you're ready to go in terms of sound.

You can take headphones out of the socket at the front and

You can also take two outs into speakers.

So I'll open up the software

and now the first thing you need to do with any of the interfaces is to adjust the gain of your instrument going in. So

that just controls how much level of your instrument is going into the interface.

So I normally take it up right into the red and then just drop it back a little bit and then you'll be getting the

most level and without distortion with the Apogee software

You have a mixer page and this is where you mix in your instruments and mics

along with any programs that you are using and that's the beauty of using an interface. You can use iTunes, Spotify,

YouTube all your usual programs. You can have that all come through the interface so it's a great tool for practicing

You have it all mixed in nicely

So obviously it's nicer to play through an amp and a cab and have that really cranked up loud.

But sometimes that's not possible and it's great that you can practice at any hour with headphones without disturbing anyone. That can be really handy

sometimes. I've drawn up a list of a few interfaces that I'd recommend.

I'm here well hello my friends hope you're doing fantastic hope you had an

awesome week and I'm excited to get this week started and to just kill it the way

I look at every week and I hope you do as well crazy weekend this past weekend

I did like my first overnight shooting with the East Coast facilities our good

friends over there and it was interesting because your body has to get

adjusted to like a very odd schedule so I actually was filming from like 11:00

p.m. to 10:00 a.m. because of the snowstorm that came in and just like it

was a lot of fun but a weird kind of last 24 hours 48 hours of trying to

adjust my body back to like what day it is and should I be sleeping or should I

not be sleeping regardless that's all boring stuff for you but uh hope you're

doing great let's get to stay started and man it's

gonna be a good one

so I spent the majority of today finishing up a couple of edits and

instead of boring you entirely with time lapses of the entire thing what I wanted

to talk about it maybe something that I think would be somewhat valuable to some

of you so one of the things that I'm going through right now that maybe would

be useful to some of you is I'm kind of in the midst of starting a new company

the new company is gonna be solely video production like from a commercial

standpoint and I'm making for LC studios solely a wedding cinematography company

I kind of went through this dilemma in my head about a year ago or so when I

was kind of going into more commercial work and the idea of whether or not it

was a big deal to have like one company that does both wedding cinematography

and commercial production and there's pros and cons of both sides of that and

I don't necessarily still know if there's a right or wrong answer to that

but my thought process behind it is the fact that it's really hard to brand

yourself as something because you can't really go hard after your whole brand

matching that style and still get clients on the other side of it because

they don't really go hand-in-hand when you're a wedding civet ography company

or a wedding photography company or whatever it is it's really important to

have your brand be very wedding based everything about it should look and feel

you know attractive to a bride attractive to a groom and the problem is

if you look too much like weddings you're kind of not really showcasing the

fact that you can do commercial work as well

and the problem is if you're looking to do a lot more commercial work you can't

make your brand be super commercial because then it's not going to be

attractive whatsoever to the actual bride and groom who may be looking for

you to film their wedding and so it's really hard to brand the two because for

LC studios as a whole is definitely branded weddings for stuff like

Instagram because Instagram is a huge market for us with weddings and it

should be if your wedding cinematographer or photographer but the

problem is I'm not able to showcase any of the work that we're doing

commercially on for LC studios Instagram because it's such a wedding based

Instagram profile that I'm really not showcasing to anybody that we offer

anything other than weddings so that doesn't necessarily help on the

commercial but as I started to do more and more

work on the commercial side I can definitely see that it's incredibly

important I think to have a brand that is just for commercials because the

person that's looking to hire you from a commercial standpoint needs to see that

that is like your bread and butter they need to see that that's what you focus

your time on and I don't think it's as much about the fact that when they see

weddings they don't think that you're professional because I think that people

can see really high quality work whether you do weddings that were commercial and

know that you know what you're doing the problem is from a different perspective

is if someone sees that you're heavy into weddings it kind of might indicate

to them that you're not necessarily available during the wedding season very

much they're gonna know that you're essentially always working weekends that

you're always editing these films with these photographs and you're you're

constantly so busy in that that it may steer them away because they don't

necessarily know if you're ready for that type of work maybe see your wedding

films and say they look great and they sound great and everything just looks

really nice but it doesn't necessarily show them that you can do something

other than that because there are a lot of people that can there are a lot of

really good wedding cinematographers that don't necessarily do commercial

work good and vice versa you could be really good at commercial production but

weddings are an entirely different thing and so I'm leaning more and more toward

really feeling like it is important to have a separate brand that does those

two things so that you can really make your focus be one or the other when

someone visits your website your Instagram your Facebook whatever it is I

want people to go to my website and instantly know what kind of stuff that

we do so that's kind of where I'm at right now now one of the difficulties of

this whole process is that I'm really trying to figure out what I want to call

my actual company because there are so many factors that go into that and I'm

one of the people that would actually go as far as saying not to overthink your

name because a lot of people want to have like the most clever name and like

the most thought-out name but then you look at companies like Google and

Facebook and Amazon these different places that they are our household names

now but when they started Google wasn't a really cool name like when you started

that it wasn't probably something that someone's like oh that's really neat

probably what the heck is that now Google is so normal

to you because you see it everywhere and you use it everywhere and it's a huge

household name so there's always that dilemma of what should it be called and

and what things should I include in the title and what shouldn't and so many

different decisions going through my head but it's tough because every time I

settle on one specific name I try to see if I can get the website and the

Instagram handles and all the different platforms and then they're not available

and that becomes difficult it's just a really really tricky process but I know

a lot of you that follow my channel are really big into wedding cinematography

and a lot of you have reached out to me and asked about like you know is

important to have several names and and is it good to do commercial and weddings

and so it's something that we all deal with I think that every wedding

cinematographer at some time in their career decides to either do commercial

production or they at least think about it because there's you know the times a

year that you don't have a lot of work in the wedding business and some people

want to pick up other work during that time there's also some that don't want

to do any commercial but it's something that gets discussed a lot almost every

person that I know in video production that is doing fully commercial now has

started in weddings first so it's definitely something that happens it's

kind of just this natural tendency of us to obviously look for more work and more

opportunities and I think that's good it doesn't mean that there's the right

or wrong answer but it's definitely something we all I think most of us go

through at some point or another but once again my whole channel as always is

just hopefully taking you through kind of what I'm thinking and my thoughts

behind certain things and it's never to tell you that you need to do something

or that you have to do something it's more just kind of explaining what I'm

going through so if you're a person that currently does wedding cinematography

and commercial it's all under one brand I'm not saying you're wrong whatsoever

it's just kind of something I'm going through and brainstorming a few

different things and I love hearing your thoughts as well hearing kind of what

are your we think some pros and cons are if for nothing else it allows me to go

back and look at some of these videos and remember when I was going through

these different things and it's just I think it's a fun part of document in

this journey that I'm on which is just that we go through these kind of things

new companies company name is in branding and in all this type of stuff

and every time a new year hits obviously this really fires me up and gets me

thinking about all these different pieces so that's kind of what

about right now but I appreciate you following along this journey I

appreciate each one of you very much I know that you can do a lot of other

things with your time and a lot of you come and hang out with me on this

POSITIVE MOVE! (Damson Tree Has A New Home) 2019 - Duration: 8:53.

Hello, I'm Liz Zorab and this is Byther Farm and today I'm having a positive Monday.

There are many days at this time of year where I really struggle with how I am

feeling and I know I'm not alone. So yesterday I had a positively positive

Sunday and I'm going to carry that on in to today. I'm gonna look for some really

small but very positive things.This beautiful little cyclamen has self

seeded from a pot that was by the back door when we moved in. This beautiful

pink flower, what a moment of cheeriness on a dull day! So it's self sown in the

gravel here, possibly that's another plant coming there and I can see one

over there as well. If I can get them out of the gravel I'll pot them up and

grow them on. Aren't they lovely? And also growing in the gravel here, not that one we'll

take that one out and I think I'll take that weed out. if I can. But these are

broad beans which I've spilled on the floor and they're growing. I think in the

next day or two I need to pick these up carefully and transplant them into the

vegetable garden.

Last week I put a request on our local facebook gardening

community page and asked if anyone has any daylillies that they could spare, a

small piece of and possibly swap for something else.

Well, a lady called Katie very very kindly contacted me and said 'Yes I've got some,

couple of colors, you're very welcome to them, I'll pop them outside my front door.'

Gave me her address, well when I got there I knocked on the door because I wasn't

quite sure what I was looking at. And Katie has really kindly given me and some

daylilies in these four pots. Four pots of daylilies! I'm blown away, I'm so

excited by that! Three pots with chocolate mint growing in them and

these two our purple iris that she was given

by her grandfather and she's divided up the plants time and time again and I

think she told me they're called Grandpa Dix now that's not the variety

well that's what she calls them but I think I'll call them that too.

It's rush hour so it's quite noisy, so sorry about the background noise. The last few days

have seen a lot of changes. I've been clearing out this little bed in front of

me. taking out the plants that I want to keep and dividing them, moving them

elsewhere or into pots. Because I want to get rid of the end of this bed that's

nearest me and I will keep a lemon balm and a bronze fennel at that end of the

bed, but this end will become pathway. And along here well...

on Friday I showed you the wild damson that had grown, a self sown plant in

this area here. It was about eight feet high, six feet wide in each direction and I

absolutely knew I wasn't going to be able to get it out on my own. And I dropped a

less than subtle hint to ask Tony when he came to do the live chat on Saturday

whether he would help me move that. Well he didn't just help me do that,

Tony pretty much did all of it and all I did was to hold the spiky branches out

of the way so they didn't get in his face.

So Tony is doing great.

I feel really bad Tony is doing all the work!

It's about four degrees C here

today which think is about 40F, Tony's now got hot enough that he's in a t-shirt. I hope he doesn't get any hotter!

I'm more than little

excited to see the trees getting the tiniest little flower buds on them.

All the branches are absolutely covered with these tiny little promises of potential.

And here on the boundary within the duck enclosure is the tree that

Tony moved for me on Saturday. I'm so pleased that it's here.

It's filling a space over here, there is a gap in the trees so it will get plenty

of light, plenty of airflow and hopefully over time as it grows, it will

help create some wind barrier here.

And so wherever you are in the world and

whatever you've got planned for today I hope it's a positive one. I also hope

I bought this, but it won't cut it.

I need something thicker.

So, I'm gonna put my socks on.

There's one more thing that's really important when you're going out into the cold.

The air is really dry and can give you windburn.

And here's the area that will be exposed to the cold.

And also the hands.

That's because you'll have to take off your gloves to set the camera and deal with zippers.

If your face gets really dry, you'll get wrinkles.

If your hands get really dry, you'll get a burning sensation.

I'm going to rely on shea butter this time.

It will moisturize the skin, seal the moisture in, and prevent wrinkles.

For the body can go several weeks without food, if you're healthy enough, before you

The problem here though is many fold, mainly, your body NEEDS the vitamins, minerals, nutrients,

and yes, fats, that food provides.

If you don't have this happen in your body, you may get thin after a while, but your body

will become very deficient in key areas.

Not to mention, it'll make you sick.

And then when you are at your "perfect weight", and you try to eat food again, the "rebound"

will not be fun.

So if you're trying to lose weight by limiting your food intake, that's ok, but the key word

is limit, not starve yourself.

Number 9: Feeding Tube Diet.

I'm disgusted just thinking about this.

I mean, who wants to eat regularly through a feeding tube?

And yet, that's what many people try, because they hear that it's a quick weight loss option

that could lose them 20 pounds in 10 days.

Yeah, because that always works with no side effects!

(I hope you picked up my sarcasm, there...)

So how does this process work?

Well, a feeding tube is stuck up through your nose, and then, it's snaked down into your

stomach.

Through that access port, the person in question is fed not food, per se, but rather, a liquid

diet of proteins, fats, and vitamins.

All told, the person gets around 800 calories a day without starving themselves, and getting

something in their bodies to maintain their health.

Whether this actually works is debatable, as is the safety.

AND the whole process is full of holes, including one that will be in your wallet!

For to lose the weight, you have to pay a guy $1500 to help get you everything you need

to do it.

Plus, you have a tube in your nose!

Who wants that?

Oh, and there are numerous side effects that happen through this process, some of which

kind of counteract the whole "weight loss" thing, I'm just saying.

Number 8.

Baby Food Diet.

Before we debate the disgust of this diet, take a moment to like this video and join

When you're a young baby, you are pretty much incapable of eating certain types of foods.

In fact, since you don't have enough teeth, you can't eat food on your own.

It was through this that baby food was created.

A mash or liquid item that would allow babies to get what they need inside of them without

Here's the rub, some adults, fully grown and intelligent adults, have decided that, to

lose weight and stay thin, they should just eat baby food.

Now, unlike the previous two entries, there is some merit to this.

After all, most baby foods are doctor approved, to ensure that the baby is getting the vitamins

and minerals your child needs.

So in a way, this actually does make sense, because this food was designed to be healthy,

so even though you're not a baby, eating it yourself could be semi-healthy for you.

But, there are some problems.

While it does provide vitamins and minerals, it doesn't provide everything you need.

What's more, the question of proportions comes to mind, as you would need to eat a LOT of

baby food per day to be full, depending on your body type, even if you're already then.

Plus...on a personal level...eating that day in and day out?

Yeah...no thanks.

Number 7: Hot and Cold Therapies.

Here's a duo of weight loss plans that are sure to make you curious as to how people

came up with this idea.

First up, Full Body Cryotherapy.

If that sounds familiar, you probably recognize the world "Cryo" to mean cold and freezing.

Like Cryogenics, where people freeze their bodies to be "saved" later.

Well, someone got the idea to use this to help with weight loss.

Guess what though?

It kinda works.

The process uses cold to soothe your body, as well as provide certain things to your

body in order to eliminate toxins, and thus lose weight.

If you're expecting a "but" here, you won't find it.

This extreme diet works with no side effects, you know, except for your body being cryogenically

frozen.

Now, if you prefer something a bit warmer, then there's the "hot bath therapy".

Which is not only very simple, it's also backed by science.

What you do, is you draw up a hot bath, and then you lay in it for one hour.

According to reports, this is similar to you doing a 30-minute walk, just without the motion

and pounding on your body.

So while it takes longer, it's can a bit healthier for those with sore joints and muscles.

They also note that the process makes your anti-inflammatory system stronger.

So whether you prefer the hot or the cold, there is a way to lose weight and stay thin

through it.

But it takes a commitment.

Number 6: Smell Vanilla.

The body is a very finely tuned entity, and of our five main senses, we use taste and

smell the most in regards to eating (yes, touch and sight help too, but you know what

I mean!).

For when you smell a delicious meal from a ways away, you can't help but think about

eating.

So, some people go to extreme lengths to smell certain kinds of food to keep their food cravings

at bay.

Sometimes they'll smell something bad to make them disgusted.

But for a more simple remedy, smell some vanilla.

Why would vanilla make a difference?

Well, the smell of vanilla was discovered to have a rather "calming" affect on your

brain.

Mainly, it'll go after the nerve centers that help dictate the cravings you have, and bring

them down to lower levels.

This may sound like an old wives tale, but there were studies done on it, and people

who smelled vanilla lost a more weight than people who didn't.

So, if you're hoping to not eat that extra dessert, smell some vanilla, and be content.

Number 5: Sleeping Beauty Diet.

The first entry on the list was about starving yourself.

But you might be thinking, "How can I function if I'm hungry all the time from starving myself?"

Well, that's where the Sleeping Beauty Diet comes in.

For in this unbelievably extreme diet, you'll actually sedate yourself for days on end,

and through that, you'll lose weight, but without the "knowledge" that you haven't eaten.

For while you sleep, the body will go through its normal processes, and thus, you'll lose

weight.

One problem, being sedated like that takes a big toll on your muscles.

Not to mention you're losing DAYS of your life just to shed a few pounds.

Not worth it.

Number 4: High Altitude Diet.

Here's another one that is backed by science, but is still very extreme.

For if you go to a height of 8700 feet above sea level (basically go be on a mountain),

and you decide to eat all of your meals there...you'll lose weight.

This is because of how your body reacts at higher altitudes.

Your body adapts to the altitudes and your metabolism increases, causing you to burn

more fat.

As well as make you less hungry because the body is concerned with other matters.

A study was done on this, and it was found that after bringing some overweight people

to such a height, and having them eat food at a regular rate, their weight dropped by

3 pounds over the course of a week.

Still, to do this, you'd need to figure out how you'd get to such a place and stay there

for a significant amount of time in order to lose weight...oh, but at that altitude,

you might also want to watch out for altitude sickness!

Number 3: Get Divorced.

I can't help but laugh at this one, but in truth, this actually happens.

People will get divorced just so they can lose weight and get thin.

How in the heck does this work?

Well, you need to think about marriage as a whole for a bit.

Mainly, what do you do when you get married?

You have a lavish wedding full of food.

Then, you go on a honeymoon and likely eat more food.

After that, you settle in with your partner and start eating different items that you

might not have had before.

Thus, you gain weight.

Where divorce factors in, is that the stress of the divorce causes weight loss.

And it's very well documented that this does indeed happen.

The other motivator for this is that when they're single, they'll want to "look their

best", so they'll start eating healthier and exercise more so that they can get back to

being thin.

That's not shallow at all, right?

Number 2: Waist Wrapping.

Stepping away from eating changes, let's talk about physical ways that people have tried

to lose weight and stay thin.

If you're familiar with a corset, then you will understand the concept of Waist Wrapping.

Here, the person will wrap their stomach and sides with plastic.

Why?

Well, the belief is that if tightly done, the natural movement of the body will result

in heavy sweating, which will result in weight loss.

To be fair, water weight is a real thing, and this would reduce that.

But, too much sweating can cause your body to suffer in other ways, and you'd get the

water weight you'd lose right back.

In truth...this only dehydrates you, and that's not a good thing.

Number 1: Tapeworms.

While many of these methods are extreme, many of them are easy to "stop".

But for a while in the 1900's, there was one diet that was so dangerous, that it's looked

back upon in disgust, as well as mystery in regards to how people even did this.

And that diet was tapeworms.

For those who don't know, Tapeworms are a parasite, and they'll go inside of a host

and devour what they eat from within them.

So in the 1900's, this was seen as a weight loss "miracle".

Because you could eat, the worm would eat your food before it goes into your intestines,

and then you would lose weight.

The irony is that this technically did work in fits and burst.

But the cost is way too high.

For you see, you can't just "get the worm out" like it was advertised.

It is alive, and it'll fight to stay in the body.

What's more, it will spawn other tapeworms inside of you, and they'll attack your body.

People who have used Tapeworms have gotten very sick, and in some cases, passed away.

Today I'm going to do a super short book review of one of my favorite and most

recommended books Healing Trauma by Peter Levine now I love this book for

many reasons but one of the big ones is the size so take a look at this now this

is a nice concise book you compare that to his other book Waking the Tiger

Bessel van der Kolk's "The body keeps the score" and Shapiro's "Getting past your

past" and these books all have a lot of great information but they're dense and

they're heavy and they're hard to get through so I love to recommend this book

"Healing Trauma" because it's short and efficient. The shortened nature of this

book makes it more likely that my clients will read it if I recommend it

to them the other thing I really like about this book is how it explains

trauma in such a simple way how stress and fear get trapped in the body and

being such a clear explanation it opens up the way to healing in a powerful and

body based approach to recovery so Peter Levine defines trauma as something that

happens to us faster than we can process it he says we become traumatized when

our ability to respond to a perceived threat is in some way overwhelmed he

makes it clear that it's not the severity of the *incident that causes a

traumatic response. Two people in the same car crash may have completely different

responses to that incident one being shaken but fine and the other getting

trapped in cycles of anxiety and one reason for this is our ability to

process or move through the stages of our body's reactions to a dangerous

event so Peter Levine is the pioneer of somatic experiencing which is an

approach to treating trauma through the body so this is a research backed

approach that can be very effective at helping people release the trauma

symptoms that are impacting them in the present he describes how our brain

has these ancient survival responses that are very effective at keeping us

alive the fight flight and freeze response and then he explains how our

body has this natural innate ability to recover from these reactions when the

danger has passed and it does this by discharging that

stored energy he shares an example of a polar bear who is tranquilized and he's

helpless to stop the researchers who examine it tagged it and everything and

while the bear has experienced a traumatic event after the researchers

leave he begins to shake violently this is his body's natural response to

to burn off that excess adrenaline that surged through his body when he was

trapped and it releases that freeze response and the bear walks off with no

residual effects from the experience.

Now we humans on the other hand we often

interfere with our body's innate wisdom to move through and process traumatic

events by avoiding them avoiding thinking about them and trying not to

feel sad or not knowing what to do with our bodily response and we stifle that

recovery response but this is often because we lack the resources to work

through the intensity of the emotions that come with a traumatic event so from

this body based approach Dr. Levine describes the common symptoms of trapped

trauma and a straightforward approach to resolving them because the trauma

response is very much a physiological reaction an important approach to

healing trauma is working through the body to create that healing so the other

thing I absolutely love about this book is how it includes 12 simple body based

exercises to reconnect your body inherent healing wisdom so the exercises

are written down in the second half of this book but it also comes with a CD so

you can listen to those exercises as well an example of this is a grounding

activity that he has you do so you start by grounding by doing simple activities

like tapping your hand touching your hand and saying this is my hand and you

tap the other hand and you touch the other hand and you get to feel it and

say this is my hand and then you move through your entire body and reconnect

with your body and your ownership of your body now that's a very simple

example there's obviously a lot more exercises than that but he moves you

through this gradual progression of reconnecting with your body's innate

wisdom to tap in to that innate healing response that we have inside of us and

he helps I think he helps his clients work through the the trauma that's

trapped in their body so I am not getting any money from recommending this

book I just wanted to share with you all this resource because my mission is to

help make therapeutic resources more easily accessible to everyone. So have

So a few years ago I was driving my car in the winter and I was coming up to a stoplight.

I needed to stop my car, and when I hit the brakes the car started to slide instead of

stop because I was on ice.

There was ice on the road.

So I slid for quite a while and there was a car in front of me that was stopped and

slowly my car slowed down until eventually just at the last second it stopped.

So that was a close call.

I almost got into an accident.

I almost hit the person in front of me.
