c'è qualcosa in me e lo difenderò a tutti i costi!".

Hello, my name is Ainara and I am in charge of YIH Spa and The Level.
Thus, let me welcome you all to Meliá Villaitana's spa.
I was really impressed with this resort from the very beginning because of its design, inspired by Mediterranean villages,
as we can see in its squares, its restaurants or even its church.
It is wonderful for me to come here day after day and enjoy myself with this amazing atmosphere,
the ocean views and the special light that imbues every corner of this hotel.
Me and my team are in charge of offering our clients

The thing I like the most about my job is to be part of our clients' experiences here:
the act of being part of every detail of their trips, pampering their whole stays
and being part of their happiness even just for a while.
And finally, before seeing you off, do not to miss the chance to look at my favourite corner of Meliá Villaitana:

How to do magnetic passes on your self?
Hello! I teach you now hot to do magnetic passes on your self
This is a very powerful technique to relax
What is a magnetic pass?
A magnetic pass is a movement very next to the body
But without touching it, very near
When you do magnetic passes, you go next to your body
and you go working on the Solar Plexus
After that you come up, but not along your body
But keeping distance
You will do the same on the other side
You will do the same on the other side
So you will do on the right side and on the left side
You will repeat it about 10 times for a side
and 10 times for the other side
You will see that you will create a sensation on your body
You must know that magnetic passes can create analgesia by themselves
And after that you can mix it with some other techniques of relaxation
Obviously do them with closed eyes
You can do them even lying on you bed
You will notice that it is a way to isolate
Very important is also the speed
Go down at a certain speed that you feel is good for you
You will feel there is a definite speed that is the best for you

Who killed Yoram?
Do you know why you're here?
No.
At 9:37 pm we recieved a phone call from your neighbor.
She said she heard screams coming from your apartment.
When we arrived at the crime scene, we found you next to Yoram's body.
Do you have anything to say?
I don't know what you're talking about. - Then what were you doing next to his body?
And how do you explain your fingerprints on the murder weapon?
What? - Are you refusing to cooperate?
Would you rather answer the questions in the courtroom? - No!
No court.
I'll talk. - I'm listening.
But you gave to understand, it was self defence!
I had to do something! - Let's start from the beginning.
What exactly happened?
The beginning?
It was a rainy night.
I was sitting and reading todays newspaper.
Drinking the coffee I like.
It seemed like another normal night in the Abrahami household.
Suddenly, out of nowhere, a banana peel was thrown at me.
When I turned around I saw an escaping shadow and I knew immediately.
It's Yoram.
I followed him as I heard his cruel laugh.
I walked into the room, and there he was.
Looking at me with his nasty look, as always.
Yoram.
And that was the moment that you decided to kill him?
He threw a banana at me! -Banana? That's a reason to murder him?
It was more than that! He attacked me.
It was self defence, what was I supposed to do? - Take her.
What was I supposed to do? I'm not guilty!
No! No! I'm not guilty, I'm not guilty!

We don't have community policing. That's no accident. - Duration: 8:15.
- [Narrator] If you watch movies,
you've probably noticed this kind of cop
over and over again.
Meet the friendly neighborhood beat cop.
They know your name, frequent your local diner,
and live down the block.
But off-screen, a lot of police encounters
actually look more like this.
- Why are you being so rude?
I'm sorry. - You're the one
that's being rude. - [Man] You don't touch me.
- [Woman] All he's doing is driving down the street.
- You wanna go to jail too?
- [Narrator] So why are Hollywood's friendly beat cops
so hard to find, and how can we make them a reality?
If your experience with police doesn't
look like the movies, you're not alone.
And to figure out why, we need to look at something
called the consolidation movement.
- Consolidation is when
different providers of a public service,
like policing, choose to combine their efforts
in order to eliminate any potential
redundancies or inefficiencies.
- And the idea was that
it was inefficient to have all these various communities
have their own police departments,
and we should centralize and consolidate
into one large police department.
- [Narrator] Support for consolidation
first got its legs in the 1920s and '30s,
when federal agencies were having trouble
enforcing prohibition.
They argued that consolidated police forces
were needed to enforce federal laws,
some going as far as calling for
nationalizing American policing.
That never happened, but federal interest in consolidation
continued to grow, and by the 1960s,
those small, friendly, neighborhood departments
across the country were unifying
into large, city-wide forces.
This had the effect of spreading officers thin,
in part because these departments heeded
federal recommendations that limited
what a good cop looked like,
through what were called professionalization standards,
minimum requirements for employment on things like
level of education or physical fitness.
The same recommendations also called for
relaxing residency requirements,
meaning officers no longer had to live
in the area they policed.
Together, these new standards raised the bar
for serving on many consolidated police forces.
But they also raised the cost.
And they encouraged consolidated forces
to place serving officers in neighborhoods
they weren't familiar with,
leaving areas with fewer officers
patrolling communities they didn't understand.
- You have a kid out after curfew.
Does he get hauled home to mom,
or does he get hauled to jail?
Maybe they might have a little bit different perspective
living inside the community, about whether or not
something is even a problem, than an outsider would.
And they can actually choose, then,
to take advantage of these alternative mechanisms.
- [Narrator] One big reason the consolidationist movement
was willing to overlook the loss
of these community relationships
was out of a belief that there was
one best way to police all communities.
- You don't have to worry about there being
diversity, you don't have to worry about
there being potential for experimentation.
You just figure out what the one best way forward is,
and you implement it.
And if there's only one best way,
what's the most efficient scale
for that program to be implemented then?
It's gonna be at the largest scale possible.
- [Narrator] Despite its serious flaws,
consolidation continued to hold sway.
The public administration literature
just didn't offer up convincing alternatives.
And it wasn't until the 1970s
that consolidationists faced any real opposition.
- Ladies and gentlemen, I am honored and delighted
to introduce to you Nobel Laureate Elinor Ostrom.
- [Narrator] Born into poverty in Depression-era
Los Angeles, Elinor Ostrom was a dogged researcher,
and routinely barred from male-dominated academia
in her early career.
Ostrom was undeterred, and went on to study
how large structures of policing affected police quality,
later becoming the first and only female
to win a Nobel Prize in Economics
for her broader body of work.
- Elinor Ostrom's research pushed from
whether the consolidation movement was right,
in that, is it more efficient, did it better serve
community and the community needs?
And she found that no, actually,
communities that had their own police departments,
or had smaller police departments,
people in those communities were more satisfied
with the police services.
- Kind of, you know, poked a finger in the eye
of that idea that the expert was always
gonna be better than the person who was on the ground.
- She literally rode in the back of police cars.
- Tried to understand what the nature of the interactions
between the police and the community residents were.
- [Narrator] Ostrom's qualitative research style
was reflective of the qualitative gaps she saw in policing.
She argued that consolidationists' hard data
approach to policing not only missed problems on the ground,
but created them too.
And many officers agree with her.
Listen to this radio interview with a NYPD officer,
criticizing ticket quotas back in 2015.
- [Adhyl] I can tell my supervisors that I
took three people to the hospital and I saved their lives.
That the child that I helped deliver is healthy.
I can tell them that, but that's not gonna cut it.
The culture of the department, the way they see it
is that you're not working unless you are
writing summonses or arresting people.
- [Narrator] This mentality is what drove Ostrom
to offer up a theory of how to provide public safety
that recognized each community's problems as unique,
and not easily fixed through tickets and arrests.
- This gets to the idea of co-production.
- Co-production refers to citizens and the police
sharing responsibility for achieving outcomes of safety.
- It's not just having a cop on the street.
It's having a cop on the street who has
built relationships with that community,
such that they're comfortable going to that police officer
with information and with problems.
- [Narrator] Ostrom's idea of co-producing public safety
is important because it shifts the focus
away from hard metrics, by creating a situation
where police are forced to define safety
on the community's own terms.
And the idea actually caught on,
later getting published through the Department of Justice.
The wider body of research on the topic
even led the DOJ to attempt to federalize
community policing, through a 1994 program
called Community Oriented Policing Services, or C.O.P.S.,
which provided grants and training
to local departments that complied with
federally defined community policing tactics.
- [Interviewer] And were those effective programs?
- So, not necessarily. (laughs)
The community-based policing programs
were not that effective.
Wasn't this hoped-for revolution that they expected.
- [Narrator] Part of the reason why has to do with the fact
that these weren't community-based programs at all,
and instead, continued in the footsteps of consolidationists
by mass-producing one form of policing.
At the same time, C.O.P.S. and
other federal incentive programs
were making it increasingly attractive
for local departments to prioritize federal issues.
This graph shows a steep increase in participation
by state and local law enforcement
in federal anti-drug indictments from 1983 to 1999.
And this level of local employment for federal goals
causes some serious problems.
- So it gets really funky when your paycheck's
actually coming from a completely different party.
And if that paycheck is coming from somebody
who has a really different set of goals
than your community's safety, then what happens is
police departments instead direct their attention towards
the accomplishment of those federal objectives,
rather than the accomplishment of
keeping a community safe on that community's own terms.
- [Narrator] These federal programs are not only a drain
on local police, they also incentivize tactics
that hardly have communities in mind.
- So these are programs, like Department of Defense's
1033 Program, that sends military equipment to the police.
Again, it's hard to get trust if the police
look like they're about to go to war with you.
- [Narrator] All of these issues
raise an important question.
Why do we police our communities?
Is it to meet quotas?
To do work for the federal government?
Or is it to keep communities safe
for the people living in them?
It's easy for Hollywood to write scripts
that get the friendly beat cop right every time.
And it's also easy to dwell on bad police work.
But if we want humane policing that honors the dignity
and diversity of our communities,
it will mean removing the barriers
to unique and diverse policing.

The Dark Truth About The Ellen Degeneres Show - Duration: 5:06.
Ellen DeGeneres has a sterling reputation.
In 2015, she even won the top spot in an online NBC News "State of Kindness" poll.
Meanwhile, after well over a decade on air, her daytime talk show remains as beloved and
respected as its host.
But an institution as long-running as The Ellen DeGeneres Show couldn't possibly dodge
controversy altogether.
From the bizarre lawsuits to the rumors that DeGeneres isn't all that nice, there are plenty
of reasons to stop dancing for a moment to take a long, hard look at the darker side
of The Ellen DeGeneres Show… even if it pains us to do so.
Staff stress
In 2017, a source told Radar Online that the comedian has a knack for cruelty, insisting,
"When the cameras aren't rolling, [DeGeneres] treats staffers as if they are her peasants!"
If the source is to be believed, they also claim only a few lucky souls are allowed to
speak to the talk show host on set - the rest are expected not to look her in the eye.
And according to Reuters, DeGeneres received a blistering rebuke back in 2007 after carrying
on with The Ellen DeGeneres Show in the middle of a writer's strike.
A New York division of the Writers Guild of America condemned the decision, saying DeGeneres
was "not welcome" in New York.
Allegedly, Degeneres was contractually obligated to create new episodes at the time.
Karen Kilgariff, a head writer on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, sided with her boss, despite
going on with the strike herself.
Kilgariff told Reuters that Ellen, quote, "had no choice" but to continue filming.
Kathy's tears
In her book Kathy Griffin's Celebrity Run-Ins: My A-Z Index, the redhead claims that a, quote,
"talk show host [with] short blonde hair" is, well, a real meanie.
Griffin implies this theoretical tyrant once kicked her out of a backstage dressing room
at the Emmys.
She wrote,
"I can't prove it, but this person [...] has a mean streak that all of Hollywood knows
about."
In 2016, Griffin told Access Hollywood that DeGeneres was livid about it, and that the
two of them bickered on the phone shortly after.
"I said, 'Ellen this is my experience with you.'
I said, 'You've been mean to me.
I'm not saying you're a mean person across the board but you can't like, take my story
away.
It's like, my experience.'"
Their beef goes back to a 2007 appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, during which
DeGeneres called Griffin a mean comedian.
"After the phone call I literally started sobbing, because at the end of the day, whether
we like each other or not, I'm always gonna support a woman who's over fifty in the game."
Uncomfortable Corinne
Paying a visit to The Morning Breath podcast in 2017, The Bachelor's Corinne Olympios was
asked if the rumors were true about DeGeneres being a diva.
Olympios admitted that some of her experiences weren't so positive on the day of her taping.
"Unfortunately, I've kept this in for so long, but, to be honest, she just made me a little
uncomfortable."
Olympios went on to claim that DeGeneres was, quote, "very aggressive [and] very cold" prior
to the interview.
"I still love her."
Burnt Caitlyn
In 2015, Caitlyn Jenner made a rather damning confession about marriage equality on Ellen.
"I kinda like tradition and it's always been a man and a woman.
And I'm thinking, 'I don't quite get it.'"
The soundbite was subsequently picked up everywhere.
In a later interview on Radio Andy, Jenner said she got, quote, "burnt by Ellen," claiming
DeGeneres had convinced her to discuss her shifting stance on marriage equality prior
to the taping.
"Then, all of a sudden, Ellen comes back with, 'Sounds like you're really not for it.'
And I said, 'No I just said I was for it, but it was a progression.'"
Katy's "balloons"
Her heart was in the right place, but perhaps her eyes weren't.
In 2017, DeGeneres came under fire for a birthday tweet sent out to Katy Perry that said, "Happy
Birthday, [Katy Perry]!
It's time to bring out the big balloons."
Degeneres was quoting a line from Perry's song "Birthday," but many people were not
impressed, using the hashtag "double standard."
Piers Morgan tweeted, "If a man made this joke, Ellen would lead the cries of 'SEXIST
PIG!'"
Meanwhile, actor Michael Rapaport wrote, "Imagine if Cam Newton or another man sent out this
tweet and photo."
Some people also thought the tweet totally contradicted her #MeToo monologue earlier
that month.
So sue me
In a bizarre June 2016 lawsuit, a Georgia-based real estate agent named Titi Pierce sued DeGeneres
for making fun of her name.
The federal judge threw out the case in 2017, pointing out that there are various ways to
pronounce the letter 'i' in the English language.
Following the judgement, Ellen producers told TheWrap that they, quote, "never intend to
hurt anyone's feelings."
But that wasn't Ellen's first brush with the law.
In 2009, the New York Post reported The Ellen DeGeneres Show had bopped its way into legal
hot water.
Multiple big-league record companies banded together to sue the show for allegedly failing
to get permission for more than a thousand featured songs.
Ellen producers said they cleared the song's permissions with publishers but purposely
didn't ask the record companies.
It's safe to assume all parties have since resolved these issues, as DeGeneres keeps
on movin' to the beat.

How to: Monochrome effect - Duration: 4:02.
Welcome to Draw Tip Tuesday!
Here's your weekly dose of inspiration to build a creative habit.
One drawing at a time.
Brought to you by Sketchbook Skool.
Welcome to Draw Tip Tuesday!
I love experimenting and mixing my watercolor paints to color my drawings with.
But sometimes, less is more.
For example, I have this blue fountain pen, filled with blue waterproof ink from DeAtramentis.
It's great to combine with watercolors.
I'll use that today, along with the same color paint.
For today's exercise you'll need: colored ink (any color you like!) watercolor, water
and a brush.
Instead of watercolor, you can also use the same ink as you use for the line drawings,
and dilute it with water, and apply it with a brush.
I'll use my blue Lamy safari pen with nib B, with the blue ink in it.
And I will keep things simple by using the same color paint, for a monochrome effect.
You can do this with any color you like, of course.
Making a line drawing first.
When I draw my hand, I often look at the negative spaces, and do some some parts in kind of
a continuous line drawing.
It's important to trust what your eyes see, and not draw what you think you see.
Sometimes you may think: wait, that can't be right… but then as soon as you add a
negative shape, or the line next to it, it all comes together and makes sense after all.
Just keep going - even wonky lines are fine - and maybe you draw one of the fingers completely
crooked or too thin or too thick… it doesn't matter, keep going and don't let any judgement
distract you from just putting lines onto the paper.
It's tempting to add some hatching lines for the shading - but I will indicate shading
with my paint.
So now I will pick up blue paint, and look at my hand, where it casts a drop shadow.
And look at my hand where the shaded areas are.
And let that dry before I add another layer to darken the drop shadow and the heavier
shaded bits.
I love how much information just one color contains - and in this drawing I don't miss
the actual skin color at all.
It's kind of like my Delft Blue version of my hand!
Try this, maybe you can use your favorite color!
I'd love to see what you make, and if you want to share on social media, then please
use the hashtag #DTTInAction so we can see what you made!

Turret Spiders Launch Sneak Attacks From Tiny Towers | Deep Look - Duration: 4:35.
The world is a very different place when darkness falls.
Most of us head for home … for cover.
Because as the shadows creep in, they hide things ...
Frightful things ...
What is that?
That little tower?
Look, there's another one.
They blend in so well.
That was a California turret spider.
Its lair is like the turret of a castle, rising above the forest floor.
It's lined the inside with pearly white silk.
And coated the outside with mud, moss or leaves
The turret leads down to the spider's burrow, that can descend six inches underground.
The spider spends its days down there.
As the last rays of sun die out, it rises ...
to wait ... motionless ...
Until some unsuspecting creature happens by, like this pill bug.
Every step it takes creates tiny tremors, betraying its location.
Whew!
That was close.
Turret spiders actually have pretty poor vision.
Instead they rely on feel, bursting out in whichever direction the vibrations seem to
come from.
So, sometimes they miss.
They belong to group of spiders called mygalomorphs -- along with their more famous cousins: tarantulas
and trap-door spiders.
They pack oversized fangs that swing down like a pair of pickaxes.
They' were hunting this way long before spiders started building intricate aerial
webs like this orb-weaver spider.
Instead, a female turret spider might live for 16 years and never stray from her turret.
She only ventures into the world for a split second.
Just long enough to drag her next victim down to its demise.
Check this out- a turret spiderling.
Once it's big enough, it'll venture out from their mom's house and set out on its
own.
But usually not too far away.

Do black widows really deserve their bad rap?

Family Budget: 10 Reasons I Can't Save Money || Saving Money Motivational Video - Duration: 8:25.
If I actually had cash, I'd totally do a raining money intro. But I
got no cash! If you're looking for an excuse as to why you can't save money,
you have come to the right place or maybe you're here because you already
have your own reasons and you're just looking for solidarity or maybe the
title of this video was clickbait-y enough that it intrigued you and you went ahead
and clicked. No matter why you're here I am about to give you ten reasons why I
can't save money. These are all reasons that I could actually use and in some
cases I actually use them. And in typical Wendy Valencia style, these are not going
to be your run-of-the-mill reasons. They're gonna be totally bizarro reasons
that are really only applicable to me. But you and your "not saving self"
are gonna get it. You feel me. You understand.
Hey guys! It's Wendy Valencia. today I am collabing with Kristen Marie. Who I love!
We have been YouTube friends for gosh a couple of years now and she is awesome!
I love following her videos because her life is so different from mine and I
just really enjoy like watching and seeing everything. And she had a rough
2018! Oh my goodness that job situation. Poor thing! My heart just broke for
her a couple of times but she did get engaged so yeah that's awesome
so I would love it if you would go check her channel out I put her along with all
the other collaborators down in the description box down below so if you
stop by their channels leave them a comment tell them that I sent ya let's
go ahead and jump in reason number one I can't save money the government keeps
shutting down so yeah this is annoying and near and dear to my heart but if you
watched my government shutdown video which I'll link down in the description
box and up in the eye in the sky you know that we actually slashed seven
thousand dollars from our budget to survive the most recent government
shut down uh yeah that's $7,000 that we could be saving wait did I just say that
the government shutdown is forcing me to save money this video is not going in
the direction I thought it was gonna go reason number two I can't save money my
husband's a gamer and I can't stop him from buying remotes headphones game
fancy electronic guns and world battling equipment that I don't understand
Nintendo switches and all the other crap that goes into gaming that was around
$800 for us last year and yeah that was $800 that we could have saved but see I
told you you found your people reason number three that I can't save money
because I am secretly in love with honey girl is it possible to have a girl crush
on a salad because if it is I do at $10 a day times 200 days which is the number
of days I work and I probably would only buy a salad for work every day that I
worked so 200 days that's $2,000 a year that I could be saving but I don't
actually buy those I just want you but I don't so I guess I'll just keep bringing
my made at home salad every day but the upside is I don't have to pay 50 cents
for each additional vegetable I put on myself it's reason number four I can't
save money cuz budgeting is hard yeah it is but it's a hundred percent worth it
and it's really actually not at all that hard cuz I use every dollar which is the
easiest budgeting app in the world not sponsored I wish Dave Ramsey would
sponsor budgeting videos cuz oh my goodness I just love every dollar plus I
use it every day not even exaggerating every single day season number five that
I can't save money because I have to get manis and pedis once a month I wish I
miss manis and pedis like totally totally missed them I used to get them
not even exaggerating once a week in Mexico because they were so cheap and I
miss it but that's seventy dollar manicure I'd be getting
once a month would be eight hundred and forty dollars a year and I can do my own
for practically free look I even did these okay these are totally fake and
come from the mega stash of nail stuff that I have accumulated over the years
reason number six that I can't save money because there's a ton of equipment
I need for my youtube channel true story the struggle is real y'all as
I get better with editing and stuff I want to spend more money I mean I really
want to because I'm constantly seeing areas that I can improve but I'll tell
ya I'm still filming with my iPhone one day I have like an estimated earning in
my head as soon as I earn that amount in one month I'm buying myself camera maybe
and as you'll see from my video come in on Thursday Thursday Friday Thursday
you should probably click that subscribe button and the bail notification icon
because I can't remember what day it's going live but in that video you will
actually see the exact amount of money I spent in 2018 on YouTube reason number
seven I can't save money I have a crap ton of debt yeah I do
I started with over two hundred thousand dollars worth of debt 250,000 300,000 if
you have followed me for a hot second you will get this inside joke but if you
haven't all linked a playlist down in the description box it's real short
it'll go through the videos that discuss the amount of debt we had as the process
has gone along that number has grown and I'll put an eye in the sky as well for
those of you who have access to the eye in the sky this is real life folks and
math and I not friends but we have actually paid one hundred and eighty
eight thousand dollars worth of debt off in the last thirty four months and it'd
be more if the government way to open back up and I hope by the time you see
this the government's back open cuz I'm getting annoyed but I'm not bitter below
just reason number eight that I can't save money I like to give giving is an
actual thing in the Valencia household and your
I see on Thursday Thursday I'm pretty sure it's Thursday that we are gonna
start disclosing how much we're giving every month I talk about the exact
amount that we gave in 2018 so you have got to check that out so we could
actually stop giving and then just save that money but we're not gonna stop
giving because we won't we just won't period negotiable reason number nine I
can't save money because the Amazon enough set in 2019 we are tightening it
up to meet some major major financial goals so we are gonna kill it and Amazon
I'm gonna have to say bye for a little while it makes me a little sad kind of
dying on the inside a little bit my heart just breaking but we're gonna make
it we'll be back and the last and final reason number 10 that I can't save money
because I don't want to so this one's actually probably the most honest of all
the reasons and not a reason I actually use cuz I would love to be able to save
money but there's no real valid argument for cuz I don't want to other than you
need to but if you are using this one as an excuse then stop whining cuz you
can't do anything because you know you could be saving but for us we're not
saving not because we don't want to we're saving because our goal right now
is to pay off as much debt as we can so stick around and see how we do this year
super excited so I'll see you in the next one
see ya route

Will the Manchester Pusher Strike Again? - Duration: 10:58.
From the number of mysterious deaths to making headlines all over the world, join us today
as we ask: will the Manchester Pusher strike again?
Number 8 Unsolved Deaths Between 2008 and 2014, about eighty-five people,
most of them men, died in the canals, rivers or other waterways of the Greater Manchester
Area.
The coroners considered 28 of the recorded deaths to be 'open' verdicts.
This means that a definitive cause of death, as well as the circumstances under which they
occurred, couldn't be determined.
This is sometimes due to medical reasons.
When a body has been in the water for an extended period of time, it can be very difficult to
establish a specific scientific explanation.
Nevertheless, there was enough space for doubt that rumors soon started circulating that
a serial killer was on the loose.
The 'Manchester Pusher' would subsequently begin to make headlines all over the world.
Number 7 Birth of 'The Pusher' Even before the theory of a serial killer
got picked up by the media, the hashtag #thepusher started gaining traction on Twitter.
Every time another body was picked up from a waterway, there was always some speculation
of foul play on behalf of the public.
Then, on January 11, 2015, the Daily Star Sunday reported on the story under the headline
'Manchester's Killer Canals'.
The high death toll, which the newspaper referred to in the article, covered the Greater Manchester
Area, which consists of hundreds of square miles.
Regardless, according to figures from the Manchester City Area coroner's office, there've
been 35 drownings in the past decade.
In the city center there've been 22 such deaths, since 2009, according to the Fire
and Rescue Service.
The suspicion that some of the 'open' verdict deaths had been the work of a serial
killer also received support from a Birmingham psychology professor.
Number 6 'The Pusher' Theory In its article, the Daily Star Sunday quoted
Birmingham University Professor Craig Jackson saying that 'perhaps we are talking about
a canal killer'.
Jackson also referred to the canals as a 'popular site for dumping bodies'.
In his opinion, it was very unlikely that the high number of bodies found in the waterways
had all been the result of accidents or suicides.
Jackson's comments were picked up by other newspapers.
They added credibility to the fact that the unsolved murders were proof of an elusive
killer.
As discussion on the matter drew in more people, a documentary entitled 'Manchester's Serial
Killer?' was released and sparked further discussion.
Debates regarding the existence of the Manchester Pusher continued online.
Some users argued that the alarming number of bodies and the short time frame in which
they were found urged a greater investigative effort on behalf of the police.
One question that arose focused on the fact that the police should have a looked at a
potential serial offender earlier on.
Others were adamant that the serial killer wasn't real, some claiming that the hashtag
#thepusher had started as a joke.
Number 5 Potential Victims In recent years, there have been a few incidents
in which people have suffered violent deaths in Manchester's canals.
One example is the case of 40-year-old Simon Brass.
In 2013, Brass was pushed by muggers into a city center canal and drowned as a result.
Five people were later arrested in connection to his death.
The following year, an attempted robbery ended with the attacker falling to his death in
the canal.
These are cases that produced conclusive results.
However, other drownings in the Manchester City Area took place under suspicious circumstances.
On New Year's Eve 2012, the body of 18-year-old Souvik Pal was recovered from the Bridgewater
Canal.
That night, the teen had been thrown out by door staff from a Warehouse Project dance
night, in Trafford Park, for jumping the queue for the restrooms.
Prior to the discovery of his body, surveillance cameras showed Souvik with a mystery man,
whom his father suspects had been responsible for his death.
Souvik's father also believed the possibility of a serial killer warranted a police investigation.
The death of 21-year-old David Plunkett, which occurred in April that same year, was considered
to have been an accident by the coroner.
He was found in Manchester Ship Canal, after attending a music event at Daytona Racetrack,
in Trafford Park.
Plunkett's family wasn't convinced that his death had been an accident.
In the last phone call Plunkett had made to his parents before his death, his mother reportedly
heard 'screaming and howling' in the background.
She believed it to have been an indication of foul play.
Two months after a Christmas night out, 21-year-old Nathan Tomlinson was found dead in the Irwell
River.
His coat, phone, wallet and passport were missing.
The night of his disappearance he'd texted his parents that he was drinking moderately.
His body was pulled from the water near Adelphi Bridge, in February, 2011.
CCTV footage recovered by the police shows someone running a longer route to the water
that night.
The police believed it was Tomlinson, but his mother suspected it was someone else,
most likely his killer.
His case was recorded as open verdict by the corner, who also claimed that officers had
'failed to do the basics' when the young man was first reported missing.
Even though the police didn't support the serial killer theory in any of the deaths,
there are some aspects of these three cases that some have argued warrant further inquiry.
All three men were of similar age, they had all been out in the city, two of the victims
disappeared in the same area and the mysterious man spotted on CCTV was never found.
Number 4 Documentary Conclusion In the 'Manchester's Serial Killer?'
documentary, Tony Blockley, a retired senior detective reviewed the cases involving the
deaths of Plunkett, Souvik and Tomlinson.
Blockley, a man with 35-years-experience investigating murder and cold cases, concluded that their
deaths hadn't been the work of a serial killer.
However, he didn't rule out that they may have been victims of a crime.
One example he gave was that the men could have been mugged and then pushed into the
water as the perpetrator or perpetrators were making their getaway.
Blockley argued that, for a serial killer to be ruled out entirely, investigators would
have to closely examine the differences and similarities in all the drownings that took
place in the Greater Manchester Area.
He also believed that the 'pusher' rumors would continue as long as bodies keep turning
up that the police and coroners can't provide an explanation for.
One of Blockley's arguments against a serial killer was that they'd have to be sure the
victims would drown after simply pushing them in the water.
Since this isn't possible all the time, there would have been survivors coming forward.
He added that none of the victims had marks on their bodies, consistent with a violent
attack.
Then, an attack in April 2018 seemed to fit all the points that Blockley had made in the
documentary.
It is, so far, the case that best suggests the existence of a killer on the loose.
Number 3 'Tom' In April, 2018, a man identified only as 'Tom'
almost lost his life after he was attacked and found himself in the water of the Bridgewater
Canal.
The 34-year-old was struck by swinging arm as he was cycling home.
After Tom landed in the water, he tried to pull himself up but his attacker reportedly
kicked his hand away.
Fortunately, Tom eventually managed to get out of the water.
He identified his attacker as a man, but couldn't provide an accurate description as there weren't
any lights along that section of the canal.
The city police and coroner investigated the incident but, despite it being sudden and
unmotivated, found no evidence of a serial attacker.
Following the police's conclusion, Tom claimed he was disappointed and described the pitch
black area alongside the portion of the canal where he was attacked as the perfect place
for crime.
Number 2 Manchester's Canals Central Manchester has about 10 miles of canals
running through it.
They date back to the city's aggressive industrial development in the 18th and 19th
century.
Even without the threat of a 'pusher', some locals have described the canals as 'death
traps'.
This is mainly attributed to the lack of safety infrastructure and poor lighting.
A petition online, with almost 100,000 signatures, called for barriers to be placed along the
city's canals.
In certain areas people drink at tables only several feet away from the water.
In the city center, people spill out from bars and clubs which line up a stretch of
the Rochdale Canal, where 16 people lost their lives in the past ten years.
The chair of the Manchester Water Safety Partnership suspects that most of the deaths were alcohol
related.
His comments were in keeping with another theory about the Pusher that emerged online.
Its premise was that a serial killer could simply be targeting people that are already
heavily intoxicated and, in such a scenario, a push would be enough to end their lives.
Number 1 Police Response Whenever the rumors started circulating, the
Greater Manchester Police vehemently deny the existence of a serial killer.
According to the authorities, Professor Craig Jackson, the academic who was among the first
to support the serial killer theory, met with investigators and coroners.
Even though the police claims Jackson had a change of heart regarding the matter, he
never publicly recanted his position on the open verdict deaths.
In order to dispel what they considered to be a 'pusher myth' GMP took to social
media and YouTube.
In a video published on their channel, Detective Superintendent Pete Marsh claimed that all
the deaths had already been through the investigative process and that there wasn't any evidence
to support the presence of a serial killer.
However, those in favor of the theory have either claimed incompetence or that the police
are intentionally keeping the matter a secret in order not to cause panic.
Thanks for watching!
Do you think that there is a serial killer claiming victims alongside Manchester's
industrial canals?
If so, do you think the pusher will strike again?
