Trump to CIA: 'Trust me, I'm like a smart person' - Duration: 3:25.

President Trump, in a Saturday visit to CIA headquarters, promised his full support for the intelligence agency while insisting reports of his feud with the agency were bogus.

"There is nobody who cares more about the CIA, nobody," Trump declared to cheers from about 400 employees. "... I want you to know I am so behind you. You're going to get so much backing that maybe you're going to say, 'Mr.

President, we don't need that much backing.'

"But you're going to have that."

The trip to Langley, Va., was the new President's first official order of business after his Friday inauguration and a Saturday morning prayer service.

He was introduced by Vice President Pence, but was soon delivering a meandering address where he attacked the media and insisted the attendance at his inauguration was undercounted.

Trump claimed as many as 1.5 million people attended his inauguration rather than the widely reported estimate of 250,000. Ignoring photos and video to the contrary, he also claimed the National Mall audience stretched as far as the Washington monument.

The leader of the free world assures CIA staffers that many, many people attended his inauguration ceremony.

In another non-sequitir, Trump declared to the nation's top spies that he was a bright guy despite those who might claim otherwise.

"And then they say, 'Is Donald Trump an intellectual?'" Trump said. "Trust me, I'm like a smart person."

His remarks came against a backdrop of the CIA wall of honor, remembering agents who died in service of their country.

The new President said even the timing of his visit was a response to stories from his favorite target: "The dishonest media."

"The reason you are my first stop (is) my running war with the media, among the most dishonest people on the face of the earth, right?" he said.

Donald Trump sworn in as 45th President of the United States

"And they sort of made it sound like I had a feud with the intelligence committee, and the reason this is the No. 1 stop is it's the exact opposite."

The President bumped heads with U.S. intelligence agencies over their conclusions that Russia tried to swing last year's presidential election in his favor.

The New York Times has reported that the CIA is one of several agencies looking at intercepted communications and financial dealings between Russia and Trump associates.

Trump had also suggested that departing CIA head John Brennan was a "leaker of fake news."

The commander-in-chief also found time to go after Time magazine over a story that inaccurately reported the President had removed a bust of Martin Luther King Jr. from the Oval Office.

Trump, who is the President, spends a chunk of his speech insisting that he is very smart.

Reiterating a campaign theme, Trump said eliminating Islamic State terrorists was one of his administration's top priorities.

"We have to get rid of ISIS — no choice," Trump declared. "Radical Islamic terrorism has to be eradicated off the face of the earth. ... This is a level of evil we've never seen.

"We're going to end it. It's time, it's time right now to end it."

Without mentioning former President Obama, Trump said the U.S. had previously failed to use "our real abilities. We've been restrained."

The Manhattan billionaire had also blasted Obama and Hillary Clinton for their reluctance to use the words "radical Islamic terrorism."

Trump wrapped up his pep talk with a promise that things would change for the better under his leadership.

"I love you, I respect you, there's nobody I respect more," he said. "And we're going to start winning again, and you're going to lead the charge."

What Makes Your Hair Curl? - Duration: 2:30.

There's plenty of diversity in human hair shape and texture – straight strands, gentle

waves, tight ringlets, and thick afros.

And it's all thanks to a combination of chemistry, physics, and genetics.

There are two main components to hair: fibers, which are the strands you see, and follicles,

which lie beneath the skin.

Hair fibers are mostly made of a kind of keratin: long, thin proteins formed from two helical

strands that coil around each other and are held together by different bonds.

There are weak, temporary bonds like van der Waals interactions and hydrogen bonds, and

stronger ones called disulfide bridges.

But with hair shape, the /root/ of the matter is in the hair follicles, the little bulb-shaped

organs in your skin that produce the hair fibers.

Straight-hair follicles tunnel directly down into the skin, and the fibers grow out with

a circular, symmetrical cross-section.

But curly-hair follicles are more diagonal, with a hook or "kink" at the skin's

surface.

This makes oval hair fibers with keratin distributed unevenly.

The edges with more keratin fibers become the inside of the curl, because there are

more bonds between fibers, so it bunches up a bit.

Repeat this over and over, and you get waves or ringlets.

Now, there's a strong genetic component to hair curliness.

People tend to inherit it from their parents.

It seems like our human ancestors in Africa probably had curly hair, and the straight

hair seen in European and East Asian people evolved independently, though we're not

really sure why.

[T-C-H-H // try-co-HYE-a-lin] Straight hair in Europeans comes from a variant

of a gene called TCHH.

It encodes for a protein called trichohyalin that strengthens part of the hair follicle.

[E-D-A-R] On the other hand, people from East Asia with

straight hair tend to have a specific form of EDAR, a cell signalling receptor gene.

But if you don't want to be /locked/ into straight or curly hair – you can change

your 'do with heat.

That's how hair curlers and straighteners work.

The intense heat breaks weak hydrogen bonds in your hair, so you can shape the fibers,

and let the bonds reform.

They'll stay that way, at least for a while…

Unless you do something like step in the rain!

Water molecules can disrupt hydrogen bonds too, letting your hair fibers go back to their

natural shape.

Or if you had your hair up in a ponytail or under a hat, it'll stay all kinked!

For a more permanent fix, some people turn to perms for long-term curls, or permanent

relaxation for straight strands.

These treatments use chemicals to disrupt the much-stronger disulfide bridges.

And once /these/ bonds reform, hair can be locked into place for weeks or months.

VALENTINE'S DAY MAKEUP | GRUNGY VDAY LOOK - Duration: 6:39.

Okay so we're gonna start off by setting our eyelids I already have it primed with MAC

painterly paint pot so I'm gonna be using my brush and airspun powder to set it out.

Now I'm gonna be using my modern renaissance palette.

I'm basically gonna be using all the colors from there.

I am first taking burnt orange and realgar mixed together and applying it to my crease and just blending

everything as your transition color.

I really like using the brush that comes with the palette it's really nice and fluffy and

it gets the job done.

Now I'm taking Venetian red and applying it to the outer and inner corner of my eyes and

I'm just gonna blend making a halo effect.

Just keep applying the same colors over and over until you reach the pigmentation that

you desire and just keep blending in between each application.

I like packing in my color first and then with the other side of the brush I'm gonna be blending everything in

Then I'm gonna be applying love letter and the shade heirloom from the shadow couture

palette and applying it to the inner and the outer corner of the eye, this is gonna help

make it more defined and more dramatic.

I will be using the color pop super shock shadow in the shade bubbly and applying it

wet on the lid.

Then I'm gonna be taking this glitter that I bought from Sally's it was really cheap

it was like 99 cents, and applying the nyx glitter liner as adhesive.

So yeah this glitter is really cool it's almost pigment its really really fine.

So yeah I'm just packing it on and then I'm gonna be using this other glitter that's holographic

I also bought it at Sally's and applying it on top so it could be like multi colors.

It's really really cute I like it a lot.

So then I'm going to be taking the wet and wild liquid liner and lining my eyes.

Now I'm taking the Elf gel liner and applying it to the water line.

Okay then I'm gonna be applying lashes Ta-Da.

Here's the coco lashes in amore and then I'm gonna be using the smash box photo finish

primer and applying it to the face.

NOW OHHH MYYY GODDDDD YES. (twitches eyes rapidly) This oil has saved my skin completely.

Okay so my face used to be super hella hella hella dry and I've been using this rosehip

oil and its been helping my skin so much, like it's sooooooooooooooo so soft and dewey

and makes it look cool.

Now I'm taking my makeup forever HD foundation stick ( thanks baby) and the born this way

foundation in the shade honey I believe and just applying it and blending it with the

beauty blender.

Now I'm taking my too faced born this way concealer and the L.A girl HD concealer and

mixing both of them together to achieve a different shade because the born this way

was really light so I had to tone it down with the other one.

So yeah now I'm applying it under my eyes and I'm gonna be cleaning out the eyeshadow.

So we can put it under the eyes and on the bridge of my nose, my forehead, and my chin.

I'm taking the L.A girl concealer in the shade toast?

toes.

To contour and bronze my face ( The boyfriend is writing out the captions sorry for the

mishaps.)

Now ill be setting my foundation and my concealer with the air spun translucent powder and applying

it with the damp beauty blender that we used earlier.

and just baking the face.

Now I'm grabbing love letter and blr bleh BLEH BLUH BLUAH Now (deep breath) I'm blending

the black eyeliner that I applied earlier to make it more smoky with this flat edge

brush.

Then I'm gonna be using this blender brush and blending everything in with burnt orange

so we can diffuse it and blend it in.

Then we're just taking our brush and dusting away the powder.

K now I'm taking the same shade bubbly and applying it to the inner corner wet these

shades work better when theyre wet and they are probably way way better with my finger

but my pinky is a little bit too big so I use a brush then I took the makeup forever

micro finishing powder and setting it where it gets really oily.

Now this is my favee fave lipstick ever I'm really into dark gray tone ( a little too

much if you ask me) So I'm taking the smash box chill zone now I'm taking the NYX lipcream

in the shade Cairo and applying it to lighten up the lips.

(slowly pets beanie) And yeah this is the final look I hope you enjoyed it umm it was

fun making it I was really excited to show it to yall cause I was like in love with the

the make up but yeah hope you enjoyed it, like comment and subscribe and thank you for watching

:) bye!

Working With An Interpeter In The Classroom ┃ ASL Stew - Duration: 7:31.

[Jill] Hello, I'm Jill. Welcome to ASL Stew.

(music)

So today, I wanted to talk about what you should do if you have an interpreter in your classroom.

Specifically I'm looking towards professors or teachers.

Now, I work in the college educational environment.

So I'm gonna be mostly focusing on college

but some of this can apply to the general classroom like K - 12.

So, I'm just gonna give you some tips and things

and this is not in any specific order.

So, you have an interpreter in your classroom.

It's possible before the interpreter will email you to introduce themselves,

or they might show up on the first day in your classroom.

They will go ahead, introduce themselves and explain the reason that they're there.

That they're interpreting for a Deaf or Hard of Hearing student in your classroom

to make sure communication is smooth.

Now, remember the interpreter is there for everybody in the class.

Specifically they are there for the Deaf or Hard of Hearing student

but they're also there for your and the rest of the class as well,

just to make sure communication is happening.

The interpreter is part of the team, not separate.

The team includes everybody in the classroom,

you the professor, the interpreter, the Deaf or Hard of Hearing student

as well as the other hearing students as well.

Everybody's working as a team.

The interpreter is not there to take over your classroom.

Set up rules, or manage what's happening in the classroom.

Now, there's a possibility they might try and give a tip

just make things go a little bit smoother with communication.

But they're not the boss of the classroom, it's still your classroom.

So, don't be concerned if there's another person there in the front with you.

Now, recently I mentioned the interpreter will be in the front of the room, most of the time.

Sometimes they won't, but in general they will either stand or sit in the front.

That's really just going to depend on the classroom itself,

why type of class it is, as well as the Deaf or Hard of hearing student's preference.

So, you might see them either standing or sitting.

The interpreter will typically try to be close to you. Try and follow you as you move along.

Umm, that's possible, or if you tend to just stand in one place at a computer

or writing something that then projects on a screen,

then they might stand next to the screen.

The reason for this is because Deaf and Hard of Hearing students

have a visual mode of communication, so it's easier for them.

If you're on one side and the interpreter is on the other side

then they have to keep looking back and forth, back and forth.

Which is really tiring on their eyes and it's just difficult for the student in general.

Even if they were far away from the projector or the screen,

again that makes it really hard for them to look back and forth.

So, sometimes the interpreter will go ahead and move along with you, the professor.

So, don't mind that, just ignore the interpreter and go ahead and let the dance happen.

Now, I just mentioned that the interpreter is a part of the team.

So, that means it'd be helpful for you, if you could provide information for the interpreter.

Such as powerpoint slides. If you're gonna be using that

maybe you could email the interpreter beforehand

so they can study and prepare. Which is extremely helpful.

Also, if you have anything like notes or any sort of information

that you can tell the interpreter beforehand is very helpful for them.

Sometimes the interpreter is knowledgeable about the subject at hand

and sometimes they're not. So anything like that would be very helpful.

Now recently I mentioned the interpreter will move around with you and you can ignore them.

Now, sometimes the interpreter might also have to interrupt though for clarification.

Maybe it's because they've never heard that word before

and they just want to make sure they're understanding it properly….

or it could be that they couldn't hear you well… or there's multiple different reasons.

But they might ask you to repeat or say "what did you just say?". Which is a possibility.

They're gonna try their best to not repetitively interrupt you,

but I just don't want to be shocked if the interpreter says

"hey do you mind clarifying something?".

Now, remember when working with the interpreter

the best thing to do is speak clearly and at a slow pace.

You don't have to speak extremely slow, but just at a normal relaxed pace.

Make sure again, you're speaking clearly

and that you try to be as visual as possible with notes and writing different things.

That helpful for the interpreter. Now sometimes, the interpreter will have what's called lag time.

For example if you were to ask a question to the Deaf or Hard of hearing student,

you will go ahead and say your question.

Now understand the interpreter has to listen to the question, at the same time you're speaking it.

But there's gonna be a little bit of a delay for the interpreter to process that information.

So, once you stop, it may take a few seconds later, the interpreter will stop

and then the student can answer the question.

So just allow for that time to happen and let the process happen.

One more thing, now remember,

yes the interpreter has a strong relationship with the Deaf or Hard of hearing student.

But that does not mean the interpreter is responsible for the student.

Meaning, if you feel that maybe that student is struggling in your class,

you should go directly to the student. We will interpret as the interpreters.

But don't ask the interpreter "hey do you know why they're having a hard time in the class?"

No, just go directly to the student. They are in control of their education.

If they're absent or having difficulties,

they will go ahead and get in contact with you or you can get in contact with them.

We as interpreters are just communicating that information.

We're not involved in taking over the Deaf or Hard of hearing student's education.

They can handle that.

So, in conclusion if you're even in doubt, or you're not sure what to do,

or just curious, go ahead and ask the interpreter.

If it's about the interpreting process or if you're not exactly sure

how to best work with the interpreter, that's perfectly fine. Go ahead and ask us.

We're more than willing to work with you

to make sure that communication is happening smoothly in your classroom.

We want to make sure that everyone is getting the best education as possible,

and I'm sure you do too!

So, if I missed anything or you have any other questions, go ahead leave a comment!

I would love to go ahead and answer as much as I can.

Hopefully when you have an interpreter in your classroom,

you'll be ready and you'll know exactly what to do.

COLOR CHANGING BROW PENCIL?! ybf Brow Color First Impressions Review - Duration: 6:46.

Hey guys, welcome back to my channel!

Today I'm doing a quick first impressions video

I'm running out the door,

I've got places to be,

it's Friday night girl

but my brows are not on

and I have a new product and it sounds really funky

so I wanted to try it out on camera with you guys

for the first time.

It's by the brand ybf

which stands for 'Your Best Friend'

and this is their Automatic Brow Pencil

in Universal Taupe.

So these retail for $12 each

you can get them at HSN

and ybfbeauty.com

obviously, their website.

And the funky thing about it is

is it says it has 22 different shades

in this one pencil.

It says it works for blondes, brunettes,

red, black, salt and pepper

and platinum silver.

And it has customizable coverage

so pretty much it says the color changes based on

the amount of pressure

for a natural match every time.

So I'm like afraid to press too hard

and they're gonna be like black

or I'm not gonna press light enough

and it's gonna look like I have silver brows.

So I'm really interested to see if we can do some swatches

and like get some different colors

out of this. I don't know

if it means that or

like taupe,

like 'everyone looks good in taupe'

sort of thing?

It's supposed to have a thin precision tip

it has a spoolie on one end.

This feels really heavy,

and like NICE,

quality packaging.

It's not cheap.

The caps don't feel like they're going to fall off.

And it's automatic, so you don't have to

sharpen it, which is perfect because

I hate doing that,

ain't nobody got time for that!

It says it's formulated to adhere to skin,

it's paraben free,

it won't budge once it sets

but it looks natural

and all of their products have the Smart Active Immune Complex

in them,

which has extracts from the earth.

So this sounds very funky,

it's supposed to make you look younger looking

So it's currently wrapped in plastic

so let's get this show on the road

Ya girl needs some brows.

I have not been feeling confident in my brow ability at all

whatsoever these days

because, I don't know,

I just keep goofing them up!

So I really haven't been doing them a ton lately

but I've been dying to try this out, so let's go!

I really hope that's in focus.

So here it is again,

it has this really pretty maroon packaging

there's the spoolie

and here's the infamous pencil.

And it has a really small tip

So, let's do some swatches

I'll do it like really light

Whoa

Whoa!

That does look kind of like it could work

on silver hair

Let's do slightly darker, that looks

taupe-y

Darker...

Wow that's like a darker brown

DARK

This is kind of crazy.

It doesn't look like it's coming out of the same product

Let me do one like super light

Okay, so that's like a really light taupe

over there, it's not actually

silver.

It kind of looked like it at first.

Black brows might have a hard time

with this because

that's like really dark,

that's with me going over it multiple times,

urgh!

Yeah they get darker brown

but none of them are really black.

So, I think this could definitely work for blondes

if you use it really light,

but that's with any taupe color.

So I don't know how unique that is,

let me know if you guys think it looks like that came from different pencils

or not, I'm kind of on the fence.

So let's try to fill these babies in.

Don't make fun of how much I suck at filling in my non-existant brows

I was doing really good

for awhile

and then things started going downhill.

See it's this part right here

I always goof up.

Like it's always either too dark,

or, I don't know.

I have to put my hand at a funny angle.

This feels kind of like waxy

like I do have to apply a lot

of pressure

to get a lot of color.

But I think the color does look really good

it's pretty much what I always fill in my eyebrows with.

It's a good neutral taupe-y color

that will work if you're brunette,

or blonde ish,

or whatever the crap this is.

This is - you know what this is?

This is 'I'm away at college

and I haven't called my hairdresser

to make an appointment

since I don't even know when'

probably like August!

It's like I'm trying to do an ombre

because I have like roots and then the ends

are the lightest

but no, it's just grown out

highlights.

Ha ha ha.

If you want to see another brow product

I tried out,

I tried out the

PUR Cosmetics Browder

product

in my Get Ready With Me Full Face of First Impressions

So go check out that video

I tried out lots of things there

Oh my God, how do I do this.

I did them really cool in my

Goth Barbie makeup tutorial

and I've been trying to repeat that

ever since, but I can't.

It's not the product, it's just me

not being great at brows.

Because this looks a little silly right now.

This is where the spoolie comes in.

Ooh and it does twist back down nicely

which is nice,

the ColourPop Brow Pencil does not do that

and it drives me insane!

So this spoolie,

the bristles are very long,

and very easy to move

they're kind of soft.

So it's not blending as much as say, the ColourPop Brow Pencil

like that spoolie,

all the bristles are not as soft.

But they're a little too hard.

This is almost a little TOO soft.

But it is still blending.

If you have any tips, like tell me how I'm doing my brows wrong.

I never know..

I think I just extend them too much here,

but they're supposed to go in that far,

and mine just don't naturally grow there.

I don't know, let me know in the comments,

but be nice about it haha.

So what do you guys think?

Did it look like different colors

coming out of one brow pencil?

Do my eyebrows look awesome right now?

More than they usually do

in my videos?

Did I totally eff that up

and it's not the product's fault?

Let me know what you think down below,

I think I'm gonna have to meddle with these a little bit

off camera. I don't know.

Like I said, I've been battling with the brow

So, I don't know, I feel like that was really easy

and I feel like they look somewhat natural

and normal.

Maybe a little dark.

They look more red on camera

than in real life, but they match my hair

I like this product, I'm definitely gonna keep using it

and playing with it. That was really easy

and I like the spoolie.

It works.

I think if you're a redhead or a blonde

you could definitely get lighter colors out of this

but it just doesn't go much past really dark brown.

So let me know what you thought of this video

I hope you give it a thumbs up

if you like it.

Leave me a comment down below

and we can talk,

and subscribe and join the GlamBamFam

if you haven't already,

and I will see you guys in my next video!

Yes, right there. So, you don't miss any of my upcoming videos!

Let's start opening with number one.

You know the Teen Titan's leader is Robin.

He does really good martial arts.

Really good martial arts! Like me! I do martial arts.

Big black stripe for Pierce! Give him a hand!

And he is in love with StarFire.

Let's see how he does right now.

I like the cloth cape.

You spin him around on his waist and look what happens.

OK guys, ready, set, go!

You're supposed to spin it clockwise.

His arms are a little rubbery as well.

Yeah, that's what I'm talking about!

Here's his disc, and on the back and tells you to download McPlay.

OK, moving onto number two.

Number two is Beast Boy, and he can transform into any animal.

Like a dinosaur… A cat!

This is Beast Boy and he comes with two plastic things - a dinosaur and a cat.

This is the disc, and he has an angry face on the disc.

But, right here he looks happy.

Basically, you're supposed to put these plastic covers on his head and that makes him transform.

Let's do the cat face.

There you go.

He's an awesome shape shifter.

Let's change him into a dinosaur.

Here's the dinosaur head.

I like the transforming feature.

Did you know that Beast Boy and Cyborg are best, best friends?

Alrighty, moving on to number three.

Number three is Cyborg.

He's more robotic then man.

He has a robotic eye and he can see everything.

His body has weapons like lasers and missiles.

I think it is meatballs because on one of the shows, I knew was meatballs because Raven did not like meatballs.

So, his launching toys is meatballs.

Did you know that you can move his arm up, down, up all the way, backwards?

So, you just push the red weapon from the backside which is meatballs…

And it shoots it out like fire.

And there is another video where it says when I say, "I love, you say pie."

Then, Cyborg says pie. I love pie.

And I love apple pie from McDonald's!

Moving onto number four.

Raven is one of my favorite characters because she has mystic abilities.

She can read people's minds. She can move objects. She can make force fields.

Here's her disc.

Let's see what she does.

So, there's a switch on the back, once you turn it on she goes like this.

And we're going to turn off the lights so you can see what she looks like in the dark.

OK, moving on to number five.

Come out, StarFire.

She's an alien from a different planet. She can fire green energy beams from her hands and her eyes.

She can fly and she has super strength.

It comes with stickers that you're supposed to use to decorate her car.

Here we put all the stickers on.

Got it!

OK, moving onto the last one.

Dr. Light - he uses light to beat up the Teen titans.

But, the Teen Titans beat him up like he's nothing.

Like he is easy to take down…

And he is truly easy to take down.

This is what he looks like with his disc. There's a switch on the back.

OK, let's go turn off the lights.

So, this is the whole entire McDonald's Teen Titans Go!

And if you want to see my other happy meal toys please click 'i'.

How to handle Jay Bruce now: As market for Mets slugger doesn't emerge, ex-GMs weigh in - Duration: 7:06.

At this point it doesn't really matter whether the Mets mis-read the market for sluggers or they were simply caught in a perfect storm of circumstances. What matters is they can't find a trade for Jay Bruce that they consider acceptable.

And so the question hangs over them as spring training nears:

Should they trade Bruce just to dump his $13 million salary — at least most of it, anyway — even if the return is minimal, to free up money for a reliever, as well as at-bats for Michael Conforto? Or is there more value in keeping his home-run bat around in a win-now season?

I posed the question to three former GMs, Dan O'Dowd, Ned Colletti, and Steve Phillips, who all remain close to the game as TV or radio analysts. O'Dowd and Colletti made strong cases for keeping Bruce, citing the likelihood of an injury to another outfielder — or Lucas Duda at first base — and the production he offers.

"You could end up looking for the same type hitter you gave away," said O'Dowd, the long-time Rockies' GM. "You can't force a deal. The worst trades I ever made were ones that I forced."

Jay Bruce, who struggled after joining Mets at trade deadline, now appears to be the odd-man out.

(Corey Sipkin/New York Daily News)

On the other hand, Phillips, the ex-Mets GM, argued that he'd have no issue giving Bruce away at this point because the money saved would allow the Mets to address the bullpen, which he believes is their only glaring need.

"It's more important that they go get the relievers," Phillips said.

Phillips also has intriguing ideas about bigger moves he thought the Mets should have made to balance their roster, which he explains below.

In any case, last week GM Sandy Alderson said the Mets are prepared to keep Bruce — or at least bring him to spring training — if the trade offers don't improve significantly.

And that was before the Blue Jays re-signed Jose Bautista, the Orioles re-signed Mark Trumbo, and the Phillies signed Michael Saunders, eliminating all three as potential trade partners.

The Giants seem to have a need but they insist they're not taking on more salary, concerned about the luxury-tax threshold, and if the Rangers sign Mike Napoli, it's very tough to find a potential fit for Bruce.

Meanwhile, with the Mets seemingly still determined to get something of value for Bruce, after trading Dilson Herrera to get him, it's looking more and more like the veteran right fielder indeed will be coming to Port St. Lucie.

So who's to blame for this predicament? The ex-GMs all say they would have picked up Bruce's $13 million option too, and believe this is a case of the Mets mostly being victims of a new CBA that increased luxury-tax penalties, together with some new-age GMs over-emphasizing run-prevention, all of which combined to diminish the demand for sluggers.

Here are their individual takes:

NED COLLETTI

The former Giants' and Dodgers' GM, who now does pre- and post-game TV for Dodgers games, for years had a crowded outfield in LA with Matt Kemp, Carl Crawford, Yasiel Puig, and Andre Ethier, but chose to keep all four high-salaried-players rather than give one away in a bad trade.

"I lived in that situation," he said, speaking of the Mets' predicament, "and the season is so long, inevitably things happen. Is it worth making a trade when you can't guarantee health and productivity from everybody else? With our outfield, there were far more days when only three of them were available than four.

And there were a lot of days when only two were available.

"I can't give you a black-and-white answer if payroll is part of it, but I just know that if you take away the safety net (Bruce), are you sure of what you're getting (with Conforto)? Because if you're not, a lot of times you will pay and pay and pay for that.

"The way I looked at it, July 31st (the trade deadline) was the day I had to have my team in place. With something like this with Bruce, my feeling was, 'let's start the season, see where we're at, and we can make changes if we need to.' Sometimes the toughest thing to have is patience. Especially there in New York."

DAN O'DOWD

The ex-Rockies GM, now an MLB Network analyst, says he empathizes with the Mets, believing this has been a unique offseason in which there was more supply than demand for sluggers.

"It can be tough when you work so hard trying to get a trade done, but you can't lose sight of the big picture," he said. "Jay Bruce, even with the holes in his swing and how he played in New York, has a track record that makes him valuable.

"So if it's me and I can't get what I think he's worth, I'm bringing him to spring training and it may work itself out. Worst-case scenario, Michael Conforto spends some more time in the minors. I know (his agent) Scott Boras might have a coronary hearing me say that, but he's a young player whose development program has been somewhat disjointed.

"And I think he'll be an elite hitter, but I wouldn't give away a guy like Bruce just to open a spot. With three veteran guys (Yoenis Cespedes, Curtis Granderson, and Bruce), there's a good chance of an injury, and if they're talking about Conforto playing some first base, there's even more chance for him because Duda is coming off a back injury.

"So even with Bruce there I believe Conforto will get his chance to play. And I think Bruce will hit in New York. You could see he lost his confidence there last year, but he's a streaky hitter anyway.

He'll give them power.

And for all the talk about run prevention in the game now, you still need to score runs."

STEVE PHILLIPS

As mentioned earlier, Phillips, now an MLB radio host, would do whatever he could to dump Bruce's contract and spend money on relievers, but if it were him, he said he would have been even more aggressive in trying to re-shape and balance the Mets' roster.

"It's a cumbersome roster that has a pretty high level of uncertainty because of injury questions," Phillips said. "It's one of the most talented but unpredictable rosters in baseball, and as a GM you're always looking for predictability.

"With all the corner outfielders, I would have tried to trade Bruce and (Curtis) Granderson, and I think you could have done that early in the offseason if you were just trying to free up money. From there I would have non-tendered Duda and signed (Edwin) Encarnacion to play first base.

"Then, I would have tried to trade Conforto and (Steven) Matz to get either Charlie Blackmon or Andrew McCutchen. I like Conforto but I don't think he's going to be as good as those guys. And I worry about the injuries with Matz.

"Blackmon is a great player and I'm convinced McCutchen will bounce back and play at an MVP level. With either of those guys you get a true center fielder.

"But, listen, I wasn't as patient as other GMs. And I have as much respect for Sandy as any GM in the game. Maybe his patience will pay off.

If the Mets' pitching stays healthy, they should be really good.

They're not really lacking in any area other than a lefty in the pen and a little more relief help overall.

"I don't blame them for the Bruce situation. I would have picked up the option too. They got caught in a market where some big-market teams, the Red Sox, the Angels, the Giants, they backed off because of the new luxury-tax penalties, and that allowed teams like Cleveland to sign Encarnacion, or teams like Toronto and Baltimore to be patient on their own guys.

"But the Mets need to sign a reliever. There are still some good lefties out there. Boone Logan.

I like Travis Wood as a guy who can give you one inning or multiple innings. Or (Jerry) Blevins.

"Whoever it is, they really need to get out and sign someone. If this doesn't work out they can always trade Bruce or Granderson at the deadline."

Left unsaid: if the Mets are in the race as expected, for a third straight year, then spending millions more than they wanted to should be well worth it.

(Olivier Douliery / POOL/EPA)

SEE IT: Bristol police shoot Taser at their own race relations adviser - Duration: 2:33.

A pair of Bristol police officers were caught on video firing a Taser at a man tasked with easing relations between the black community and law enforcement after they mistook him for a wanted criminal.

Judah Adunbi, 63, was approached by officers while he was walking his dog near his home in the Easton area, the Guardian reported.

Video footage recorded by a neighbor show police asking Adunbi to identify himself, which he refuses to do. Officers repeatedly ask the man his name and explain to him they believe he's a wanted person.

"I've done no wrong," he tells them in the recording. "Leave me alone."

Judah Adunbi, 63, of the United Kingdom, is seen in this screen grab from a video being tasered by two police officers.

(Bristol Post)

When Adunbi tries to get through the gates and into his home, officers can be seen wrestling with him for a moment before stunning him in the face with the Taser.

The discharge was enough to knock him to the ground. After the incident Adunbi said he thought he was going to die, according to the Guardian.

"I heard this sound and felt something hit me below the lip," he said. "I collapsed on the ground. I was paralysed.

I couldn't speak or move and didn't have strength in me.

She told me to get up.

I knew if she fired again, it would have killed me."

A neighbor recorded the incident, which was also captured on the officers' body cams.

(Bristol Post)

He added he was humiliated by the officers and the way they handled the situation.

"At first, you don't accuse someone of being someone. You ask questions. The first thing they should have done is come to me in a polite manner.

The way they approached me — they were accusing me.

That is wrong," Adunbi told the Guardian.

Adunbi sits on Bristol's independent advisory group intended to connect police and the community and has also worked with Crown Prosecution Service's local community involvement panel.

— Cop Crisis (@copcrisis) January 21, 2017

The confrontation, also captured by the officers' body cameras, has been referred to the Independent Police Complaints Commission for review.

"We work really hard to work positively with all communities and I see no reason why that should change," said Jon Reilly, head of Avon and Somerset police. "Although we don't have to refer an incident in which a Taser has been discharged to the IPCC, we want to be as open and transparent as possible.

"I've met with Mr. Adunbi and we had a constructive conversation."
