Some officials argued the Thomas R Malthus theory that famines are a nature's way for

British government continued its policy of "forced export" of food from India in 1876-1879,

The poverty, misery and diseases wiped out villages and families.

Some farmers and their families committed suicide during this 3 year period from the

BECAUSE IT'S WHAT YOU HEAR OVER AND OVER AGAIN FROM THE RIGHT

WING REGARDING CUTS TO FUNDING FOR OUR DEFENSE DEPARTMENT.

CUTS ARE ACTUALLY VERY MINIMAL, AND REPUBLICANS ARE PARTLY

IRAQ SO WE DIDN'T NEED AS MUCH MONEY FOR THAT COMPONENT OF OUR

MILITARY.

BUT THERE WAS ALSO THE ISSUE OF SEQUESTRATION.

OBAMA ADMINISTRATION WANTED CONGRESS TO STOP BEING

OBSTRUCTIONIST, TO WORK TOGETHER SO THEY COULD ACTUALLY PASS

LEGISLATION, SO SINCE REPUBLICANS FUSED TO WORK WITH

DEMOCRATS HE'S LIKE, IF YOU GUYS ARE UNABLE TO COME UP WITH THE

REPUBLICANS TO MAKE A REASONABLE BUDGET.

SEQUESTRATION JUST WENT INTO EFFECT.

THEY DID

ACROSS-THE-BOARD CUTS.

BUT SINCE THEN REPUBLICANS HAVE FURIOUSLY

BEEN TRYING TO GET MONEY BACK INTO THE DEFENSE CONTRACTORS'

POCKETS, BECAUSE THEY DONATE TO THE REPUBLICAN PARTY.

James, the son of Zebedee, and his brother, John.

He called them and immediately they left their boat,

He went all around of Galilee, teaching in their synagogues,

proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom

and curing every disease and illness among the people.

- We're seeing the beginning, or the arrest of,

at the end when John the Baptist gets arrested,

mentioned at the beginning of that gospel passage,

was this moment of transition for Jesus.

He is now taking control over the public ministry

following his own baptism in the Jordan.

So we could really say the last prophet, John the Baptist,

or the last of the great prophets, of the Old Testament

prophets and of the New Testament, the only prophet

of the new testament, John the Baptist,

we could actually say that he really has been silenced,

and the moment has come for Jesus, the Messiah,

now to start beginning the mission.

The mission of the Father, the Son, and the Spirit,

God's mission to unite us all to Himself.

And he does that in a very unique way.

He starts off first by calling Peter and Andrew,

James and John, and calling the apostles by name.

Disciples are we all who have been baptized

and who follow Jesus Christ, but the apostles

had a very unique role in their vocational call,

that Jesus called them specifically by name

to come and follow.

Many followed Jesus, but these were the ones

that were called by name.

It's why Saint Paul would actually call himself

an apostle of Jesus Christ, because he was called

from Saul to Paul, right?

So when we think about this calling, you and I have been

called by Jesus Christ as well.

We're called to live a vocational life, all of us.

There are three vocations in what we consider in our lives.

The call to priesthood, a religious life, or the call

to married life, or the call to consecrated single life.

That those are the ways that we are called to live

as Christians in our lives.

And everything outside of that, maybe it's not

right in sync with what God's will is for us.

But this call comes directly from the Lord.

It comes to you and I.

That call comes to you and I each and every day

that we surrender to how God has called us in this world,

to serve in his kingdom.

That's a life journey.

That's a life journey from our baptism until we go home

to the eternal life with God.

That's something that we are in this path.

We are on this same journey as the apostles and disciples

were on in that early days of the church,

and the founding of the mission.

Coming to us for our salvation and our redemption.

That is very important to us, to remember how God

has called us in our lives.

Please stand.

creator of heaven and earth,

and in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord,

who was conceived of the Holy Spirit,

born of the Virgin Mary,

vocational call on our lives.

for the harvest, and through the harvest He provides

there and he's yelling and screaming oh

my crap this stinky footed 3 3 toed

creature screeching splash is going to squash me and it

stinks

he has stinky feet cheese between his

toes uh oh I got a hair

never mind where the hair is and so yeah

that that's what he's yelling right now

is the t-rex is yelling about not the

t-rex the t-rex of having fun he's just

going off on his merry old way I don't

even think he's paying attention that

his foot is just about like to cruse down

on this man he just got kind of caught

up in the you know how in movies people

run around they like running for some

reason

who knows they like running and so he's

trying to get away from the t-rex and he

falls in the mud puddle

yeah let me show you the picture again i

hope you can see it you see that they're

so yeah I think that's it for now with

A few weeks ago I wrote that in today's America, it's not only about women's right to choose, it's now also about women's right to live.

I was talking then about the GOP's desire to defund Planned Parenthood — which only receives federal funding for life-saving tests and exams, not abortions.

Just weeks later, as many as a million people came out to shout and march not just for women's right to choose, but our right to live, to speak up, to immigrate, to fight back against the overwhelmingly white pack of right-wing men in D.C. who want to bring us back to the bad old days before women began the uphill fight for rights.

Foolishly we thought we'd turned that corner even though we still don't even have an Equal Rights Amendment.

So women, men and kids around the globe came out the day after President Trump's swearing-in, to announce en masse that it's our right to live, to choose, to have health care and — unbelievable in 2017 — to have equal rights to men, all of which might be endangered under this new administration.

As a single mom who raised a daughter on my own, a child now grown into a woman who was recently featured on the cover of Inc. magazine as the CEO of the best, most human and caring place to work in America, Arkadium online games, I know — really know — what's in danger. We're in danger of losing our freedom to grow a new generation of daughters who will have the freedom to succeed.

Another single mom, who raised three daughters alone and has risen to become the president of the School Construction Authority, a female leader in a man's world, Lorraine Grillo, put it this way: "I never thought I would feel the need to do this again after marching against the war in Vietnam and marching for the environment on the first Earth Day. But I feel such a need to do something and I think this may energize our young people."

We will continue to unite against oppression in Trump's divided nation.

Emmy award-winning producer and attorney Connie Simmons, who also knows what's at risk and marched in New York Saturday, said, "At the end of the march, a female NYPD officer came up to me and said, 'It's the end of the march but not of the struggle.'"

As divisive as Donald Trump's candidacy and platforms have been for America, these wondrous, massive rallies of Americans and want-to-be Americans of all colors, races, genders, sexual orientations, beliefs, hopes, terrors, economic means, talents, dreams, fears, problems — we all hold the solution. We will continue to unite against oppression in Trump's divided nation.

We're not going to take it sitting down. We're standing up. So don't even think we'll allow anyone to put us down again.

Hillary Clinton looked like she was going to die, President Obama looked ready to kill, Jimmy Carter looked depressed, and George W., draped in plastic, looked like he was longing to get back behind his beloved shower curtain so he could paint yet another self portrait of himself in the bathtub. (No, I swear.)

As a less-than-full National Mall of supporters cheered, nearby crowds of protesters were turning violent and being arrested.

Welcome to the most bizarre, divisive inaugural in history, an inaugural which was as surreal as Bush's bathtub self-portraits.

President Trump told us how wretched our country is, as he promised to wipe out radical Islam, even as six clerics offered up prayers.

The internet dubbed them a diverse clerical group despite five of them being Christian, albeit of different denominations (thus the "diversity"). They were joined by one token Jew. Absent from the prayer offerings were representatives of the other main religions in this country.

Among the six clerics was the first woman to offer an inaugural prayer, Paula White, a televangelist, who helped swing the Pentecostal vote in Trump's direction.

The President, who never seemed particularly religious before, other than collecting and storing bibles that fans send him, was given a pre-inaugural family service by Rev. Robert Jeffress.

You know Jeffress, of the new $130 million mega-church, right? He's the guy who called the Catholic Church a "pagan religion," Mormonism a "cult," and Islam a false religion. Or maybe the homophobe pastor told the germaphobe President that most gays have AIDS.

Gold bless America.

YEEZUS, WHAT A SNUB!

Krazy Kanye West tragically did not get the chance — like many, many performers before him — to refuse to perform at the Trump inaugural.

Why? How did such an oversight occur? Seems that even though Trump took time out from picking his cabinet to visit with Kanye, he didn't pick him to perform at his inaugural.

It simply doesn't get much more insulting than not getting the chance to refuse to perform like all the other A-listers.

That's like not getting the chance to not show up at the Academy Awards.

Trump's Presidential Inauguration Committee chair, Tom Barrack, told CNN's Erin Burnett that West was just not "traditionally American" enough for the event.

What? And here you thought that rap was about as original an American art form as you can find.

Yet Michael Flatley, his Feet of Flames and that traditionally American art form — Irish dance — was invited.

Stand up if you hate America so much that you would put the words "Lord of the Dance" and "traditionally American" together in one sentence.

WHY, PRAY TELL?

The media was played like a $3 guitar again Saturday when every national TV news station covered the full National Prayer Service attended by a few hundred of Trump's inner circle at the National Cathedral as hundreds upon hundreds of thousands of participants attended some 600 historic Women's Marches against the Trump administration around the world.

Worse, and left unsaid, was the fact that Trump packed the cathedral with a record number of evangelical faith leaders – 25 out of 30 – which played right to his base.

The one rabbi who recited, Rabbi Fred Raskind, read from 1 Kings 3:12: "There has been never anyone like you before nor will anyone like you arise again."

HAVING A COW AS TRUCKLOAD OF SKITTLES SPILLS ON ROAD

A bazillion wet, red Skittles spilled out on a Wisconsin Highway last week, turning the road red. The "bad" Skittles were being sent to ranchers to feed, yes, cattle. No, it wasn't Cow Halloween, but apparently a regular yet horrific way to replace corn, which has replaced grass for cows who aren't allowed to roam free.

The spilled Skittles were deemed unfit for humans because they were devoid of the imprinted "S." As in what — "seriously?"

That was the message that White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer delivered Saturday during his first official briefing.

A fired up Spicer ripped into the media, blasting reports that President Trump did not draw a large crowd for his swearing-in ceremony on Friday.

Echoing his boss' earlier statements, Spicer claimed the media were working to "minimize the enormous support" that got Trump elected, and that it was "shameful and wrong" to put out "inaccurate" numbers and pictures about the crowds.

"This was the largest audience to ever witness an inauguration period, both in person and around the globe," Spicer said.

Aerial photos of the crowd at Trump's inauguration showed open space on the National Mall when compared side-by-side with an aerial photo of Barack Obama's 2009 inauguration.

Spicer claimed that Trump's inauguration was the first to use floor covering on the grass near the Capitol, making open spaces more apparent.

Photos from years past proved otherwise.

Ridership numbers for D.C. metro also contradict Spicer's claims.

There were more than 513,000 trips logged by the Washington public transit in 2008 for President Obama's first inauguration. Only 193,000 trips were counted on Friday.

Spicer said he had received updated numbers showing 420,000 riders Friday.

The spokesman also slammed the media for incorrectly reporting Friday that Trump had moved a bust of Martin Luther King Jr. out of the Oval Office.

Earlier in the day, Trump bristled at reports that the Women's March on Washington Saturday drew more people to D.C. than his inauguration.

Standing in front of a memorial for fallen CIA agents, the commander-in-chief complained about media coverage and bragged about the size of his crowd.

Former White House Press Secretary Ari Fleischer tweeted that Spicer was merely doing his boss' bidding.

"This is called a statement you're told to make by the President. And you know the President is watching," Fleischer wrote.

"So, while press is stunned & can't believe it, Sean is getting praised by his boss & co-workers now. MSM is from Venus. WH is from Mars."

Spicer blasted the media for publishing "inaccurate" numbers and photos of the inauguration crowd.

Spicer also noted that Trump will meet with his first foreign dignitaries this week.

Trump will meet with British Prime Minister Theresa May and Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto.

"The president will welcome his first foreign leader this Thursday when the United Kingdom's Theresa May will come to Washington on Friday," Spicer said.

Chelsea Handler leads star-studded anti-Trump march during Sundance Film Festival in Utah - Duration: 2:17.

They skipped the slopes to take a stand.

A crowd of celebrities and citizens mingled Saturday at an anti-Trump march in Park City, Utah, led by comedian/talk show host Chelsea Handler on the first Saturday of the Sundance Film Festival.

"Chelsea! Chelsea!" chanted women in the crowd that trekked along Main St., where snow fell and temperatures dipped into the low 20s.

Handler addressed the crowd, which police estimated at 8,000.

The march was organized by a group of movie industry professionals who didn't want their festival trip to preclude them from joining the worldwide marches against President Trump.

"No one wanted to miss out on the movement," said Lisa Zambri, 37, an executive producer from Los Angeles. "We wanted to be a presence here. ... This came first."

Celebrities take part in the Women's March around the country

Actress Connie Britton, in Park City for her new movie, "Beatriz at Dinner," was joined by fellow A-listers John Legend, Kevin Bacon, Charlize Theron and Benjamin Bratt.

"I was a little sad not to be in D.C.," said Britton, referring to the Washington march that drew a half-million protesters. "But I could really feel the energy of everyone at all of the rallies across the U.S."

Britton, joined by comedian Aisha Tyler, urged the women in the crowd to "fight like a girl." Others in the crowd wore stickers reading "I'm With Meryl" on their jackets — a reference to Oscar-winner Meryl Streep's criticism of Trump at the Golden Globes.

Handler was joined by Charlize Theron (far r.) and other celebrities and civilians in a march down Main St. in the Utah city.

A half-dozen women wearing pink knitted "p---yhats" rode in the back of a pickup truck among the marchers.

"It feels like we shouldn't have to be doing this," said Park City resident Patricia Kempton.
