Youtube daily report Mar 4 2018

it has 6......

hi from Melon Bites

it´s colder than I thought

I have been triying out 3 ponchos

2 of them made in 210T

one of them in 15d

210T is thicker and hevier

15d is thinner and lighter

here I am in a shelter with 3 wet ponchos

as I sais 2 of them made in 210T

Aotu

and the old version of Naturehike

Aotu is cheaper, they weight around the same

the naturehike model dry better, and has 6 hanging points, Aotu just 4

the 3F UL you already know it from other videos

its lighter 15d nylon

it has more velcros and a coupole clips

for me is enough to choose this one

I will keep using it

don´t think these are breatheble, they are not

the nice thing about ponchos is that you have sides open so air flows

I see you out there

ZARA SPRING HAUL & TRY ON I KAJA-MARIE - Duration: 8:34.

Hi everyone and welcome back to my YouTube channel

First off; thank you so much for all your respons on my last sit down video

My february favorites

So fun that so many of you left me comments

Keep doing that please! I love to know what you think, and what you like and don't like

It helps me a lot to know your opinions

Since it's March I thought it was about time with a new haul

I have shopped some new spring items at Zara

A lot of this isn't possible to wear yet

Because it's still freezing outside

But pretty soon I hope

Or I'm crossing my fingers to go on a trip soon where I can use these items

So I have one bag

And I have one box

Before I go on; give this video a thumbs up if you like it

And leave me a comment below with what item you like the most

I'm not sure I'm keeping everything yet, I haven't tried anything and I almost don't remember what I ordered

So leave me a comment on what you like

And if you like hauls then give this video a thumbs up

Because I love doing hauls, and I hope you like them

Also; stay tuned to the end of the video because there you'll find a giveaway

Which I'm gonna start doing every month

I will be doing it in my monthly favorites videos in the future

But this time it's in this video instead

So stay tuned until the end. Let's start

Let's start with the bag

This one

In this one we have

I bought these items on Monday, so I remember everything

Here I have a skirt

Which looks like this

With a lot of pinks

Dark pink, light pink and blue stripes in

And the waist is stretchy. I hope it's not see through

It looks like that in the light here

But I really hope it's not as see through as I now feel it is

But I'm so excited to start wearing this

It's still a little cold, but I love the colors

I have it in a size S

It's from the TRF collection and it cost 399,-

So that's not to bad

Then the first pair of shoes

Look at these

Now it's a little too much light on this side

These are pointy pumps with this big bow

The color is kind of nude/pink

The price was 229,-

That was also one of the reasons why I bought them, if they had cost 699 I probably wouldn't have bought them

But they're absolutely worth 229

The heel is so comfy, and they are super cute

I'm so excited to start using these! And

The last thing from the bag

It's these

Sock boots in red

I am getting more and more into red

They are pointy, and the heel is matte black which I think is so cool

And they're kind of high on the ankle. I really hope these are tight around the ankle, and not slouchy

I hate it if they are slouchy, but I really hope they'll look nice

We'll see in the cut aways

The price is 649,-, so a little more expensive, but

These will be so cool this spring, and it's not that long until I can wear these

As soon as the snow disappears

Then to the box

Just need to open it first

There we go

First I have picked up this sweater

In black velvet

With these sleeved, leopard and another pattern here

The price was, I think this is why I picked it up, 129

It's from the TRF collection

I have it in a size small, it looks very oversized so I'm glad I got small

I'll try it on and see if I'll keep it

I'm sitting here in black now, but I usually don't wear that much black

So we'll see. But I love the sleeves on it, and I think it's nice

now during the change of season, and just to relax in at home

Then I picked up a denim skirt

I picked this up in a size M, because I always think these things are a little small

This might be a little too short for me

Because it doesn't look very long, but it's so nice

It's costs 249,-, and as I said I have a M, also

From TRF, and that collection often runs small in sizes in my opinon

But it looks really short

But other then that it looks really cool, so we'll see

And I picked up one more skirt

And it's this one. Oh, that was nice

This skirt and this pink with lots of

flowers on.

It's from the basic collection

And it's a little wider at the bottom

And it's kind of a warp around skirt, and I have it in a size XS

That can't be the size I ordered

I have

Well well

I have no idea why I picked up size XS, it probably does not fit (it didn't)

But ok, we'll try it on and see. And

A spring baker boy cap

So cool

It's striped black and white

And I like this a lot

Very nice

It costs 199,-

I think it's onesize, no S and M and I have M

My head is apparently a little big, so I got medium

Omg, two more pairs of shoes

Way too many shoes, but these are so cute

These are also from the TRF collection

They're dotted and brown. I don't use that much brown but I think these are really cute

With this elasticated band in the back, I hope it's

Long enough, and not too tight

Also with this big bow, and they are pointy

And I hope you don't see too much of the toes here, because I don't like that

And this small heel, I think they're so cute

They cost, it says here 29 EUR, no, pounds

So I'm not sure what they cost, I'll check

399,- is the price here in Norway

But they are so cute

I'm so exicted to start using these small shoes again

Oh, I looked at these in store the other, but I knew I had ordered them

They are so cute. Look at them

Loafers

With these bow. Obviously I have a thing for bows on shoes

And a lot of nice colors

The price was 299,- and they are from the basic collection

I have them in my normal size, I'm always a 39 in Zara shoes

They are super cute

Omg I can't wait for spring

Then we have one last thing, and that's a pair of sunglasses

And I'm not sure if they look good on me or not

Do they look good on me?

Absolutely not

These will probably go back, because I don't think

they look good on me. Maybe I have to try a little more

Maybe they look good in photos

The price was 199,-

And they feel like good quality. We will have to see what I decide on

Leave me a comment on what you think of these sunglasses

Should I keep them or not?

That was what I picked up at Zara this time. I don't think I'll keep it all

I think some might be wrong sizes and so on

But leave me a comment on what you liked the most

Give the video a thumbs up if you like hauls and wanna see more

Then it's time to talk about the giveaway

And I have decided that every month I'm gone give away

A gift to one of you that follow me

I have a lot of nice beauty items here that I love, but I can't use it all

I do only have one face and one body

So I can't get through it all. So I wanna share it with you

It's gonna be different items every month that I'm gonna pick out and send to one of you

The only thing you need to do is to be active in my channels

Either on my blog, on my Instagram or here on YouTube

Leave comments on posts, videos and photos

And I'll draw a winner from one of you that are good at engaging in my posts

So super simple if you already follow my channels

I'll link all my channels below, and I'll also write more about the giveaway

So that's gonna be my "follower of the month" I guess

I hope you think that's fun, I think it's fun to give back to you

So don't forget to be active and leave me both nice and constuctive comments

Or whatever you wanna say. I hope you have a nice Sunday

Or whenever you're watching this

Thank you so much for watching, I'll see you very soon. Bye

Learning Arabic: The Hardest Thing - Duration: 1:21.

by far, the hardest thing

about learning Arabic

by a country mile

is, for me

listening

the number of times people speak to me very quickly

and I'm left in this state of...

'sorry, what did you say?' Listening is crucial

crucial

it's all good, to be able to speak the language

and to be able to have these ready set phrases like I teach to youse

it's very, very...

important as well to build your listening skills

so that when you're out and about, you're learning Arabic, you're speaking Arabic

you can understand what is fired back at you

now what makes this more difficult is how many dialects there are out there

there are so many different dialects

and you don't know what dialect the person talking to you might come back in

if you're in London, or a city or something, you're speaking some Arabic

you might bump into an Egyptian person, you might bump into somebody from Jordan

you might bump into somebody from the Gulf

and depending on where they're from they will speak a totally different form of Arabic

The way to love me isn't hard

Just hold me tight like you are now

We don't know what will happen to us later

But I like that nothing's decided

Who cares what others say?

We can't live without each other, so what's the problem?

We can be more in love together

If you start to like someone else

If I get used to not being with you

When that time comes, when it's that time

Only then we can break up

Vegan fashion = ethical & fair fashion? What are the alternatives? ǀ Justine Leconte - Duration: 8:47.

hi everyone it's Justine. people who are vegan diet don't eat or wear

anything coming from animals but in apparel production in fashion

there are several materials used that are animal-based for example the main

ones are leather wool silk feathers and fur. so 5 different things that are

mostly used in this video I want to talk about what it means to be vegan in

fashion when you shop for clothes. when they say vegan leather for instance what

does it really mean? what are alternatives that you can look for when

you don't want to wear leather wool silk feathers or fut? and is ethical fashion

vegan fashion? is that synonymous, is thatthe same thing? let's start with

leather the leather production needs to be a simple byproduct of the food

industry but now the consumption of meats stagnates or declines depending on

which country you're looking at while they need for leather for apparel

production keeps rising so now there are animals that get raised and killed not

to be eaten but just for their skin when you read leather on the comments label

it doesn't tell you if the animal has been ethically treated it also doesn't

tell you if only the upper upper layer is leather and then plastic underneath

or if the whole thing the whole layer is leather

it also doesn't tell you where that leather is in fact coming from so there

is a huge gap in the information available to you as a consumer. so what

are the alternatives? the first one is pleather also called

PVC which is in fact plastic this one doesn't biodegrade and it ends in

landfills I have a problem with this one because it's really not recyclable so no

animal dies but it's extremely polluting during the production process and after

the person the consumer has gotten rid of that garment. fortunately there are

better alternatives being developed at the moment: cork is one of them it's

produced mostly in Spain and Portugal it is stiff but it works very well if

you're molding something out of it like rounded pump or for flat surfaces it's

also water-resistant the material is harvested from a cork oak the tree goes

on living and growing after the harvest every nine years you can harvest the

cork again it does not damage the tree then pineapple leather is a

quite new option it is made from pineapple leaves and it's already used

for instance to make shoes it's a byproduct of the pineapple production if

we didn't use the waste of those leaves to make something out of it it would

just get thrown away so sustainability point then a very new new option is

mushroom leather that one looks surprisingly similar to actual leather

in terms of coloring and differences on the surface it can be anything from soft

to stiff and it's very gentle on the skin mostly hypoallergenic it's not

water resistant but it can be waxed to achieve just that one limitation though

it can't be produced at scale yet but it's definitely something to keep in

mind for the future because it's 100% renewable then we have wool. wool does

not technically require an animal to die you're just shaving off the hair and

then it grows back again it's a cycle the problem is when animals get

genetically modified to produce more hairs or when they're not being paid

attention to while being shaven because people have been told to shave faster so

there is eco-friendly sustainable ethical wool but the biggest producers

usually don't tell you where the wool is coming from and it is definitely

intensive production. so what are the alternatives?

the first one is acrylic this one has been engineered literally to

replace it is cheaper it's more stable it has a similar look & feel and

similar properties it's just not as good as wool. linen is another alternative. it is a

bit wrinkly a bit stiff but it breathes very well. there is hemp as well that one

is a bit raw a bit itchy but if the yarn is good quality and well spun it will

do the job. then bamboo is another option it's very soft and very flexible but if

you have a bamboo sweater and a wool sweater of the same thickness the bamboo

one will be more expensive. linen hemp and bamboo are vegan and quite

sustainable while acrylic is chemically produced. let's move on to silk. silk is

produced by little silkworms but unless you're talking about raw silk or wild

silk, the worms don't have a great life. they are doped, they can't really move

freely. it's really intensive production. what are the alternatives?

was invented just like acrylic for wool to imitate silk. it is way way cheaper

it's not as light it's not as luxurious when you touch it but it is quite shiny

too then Tencel and modal are made from

cellulose they are very new developments. thery're okay

environmentally-friendly they're of natural origin but they require a bit of

manipulation it is a complex process. if you look at these two fabrics here can

you tell which one is silk and which one is model? this one is modal it has been

calendered so the surface has been pressed by a heavy cylinder which makes

it nice and shiny just like the silk is. then we have feathers. feathers are not

used much in fashion, you think? but in fact down jackets and winter coats are

typically filled with duck and goose feathers. it's not just about the exotic

ones that you find on haute couture hats. people used to kill rare birds just for

their feathers, exotic and colorful ones. down seems like a bit more ethical, okay

option because it's a byproduct of the food industry and ostrich feathers are

now commonly replaced by turkey feathers. they can also be dyed in any color so it

replaces the rare animal. what are the alternatives? we already have synthetic

down with great properties it dries even faster than the real down which is great

in winter think of Thinsulate microfiber thing which is used for outdoor clothing

think of Primaloft which is used to fill the coats of the US Army.

synthetic down is also more eco-friendly and recyclable or sometimes even already

recycled. so as far as down is concerned we have great alternatives already. and

finally fur. that is the most debated material within the entire fashion

industry. it stands on the one hand for absolute luxury on the other hand at the

same time for absolute brutality towards animals. the ethical questioning behind

that debate is obvious. even when people don't wear full fur coats, there is this

trim which is trending on the hoodie of winter coats which can be actual fur. so

fur it still used in the apparel production probably, more often than you

think. what are the alternatives? faux fur, already broadly used.

it is synthetic so it's not environmentally friendly but it is 100%

vegan. however sometimes you will buy something that is labeled faux fur and

it might actually be real fur how. to be sure? look in between the hairs. if you

see a canvas of fabric at the base, holding the hairs together, then it's

faux fur. how to be really really sure? if you burn fur it's like burning a human

hair. it will burn down and smell. if it's synthetic it will melt and smell

like plastic. if the item you purchased is labeled as fake fur & turns out to be

real fur, you can take it straight back to the store where you got it, if you

wish. for each animal-sourced material, we have vegan alternatives. but they're not

always environmentally-friendly or sustainable. plastic is really not a

great basis we produce way more than enough of it on the planet already. then

the next question is how do you put all the materials together to build a piece

of clothing? or when you build a quirk shoe for instance, is the glue that

you're using also animal-free? is the dye that's being used also animal-free?

last but not least: what about the production process itself? Are the garment

workers also treated well ethically? fast fashion is the opposite of fair fashion

and of sustainability so if a brand is using vegan leather instead of leather

but has its sewn by children, underaged and underpaid, it's not going in the

right direction either. this video is already very content-heavy so I'm gonna

stop here for today and link down below in the description to further

video for you guys, if you're interested: the first one is about how to shop for

ethical fashion, where to look, what to pay attention to? what are the criteria?

and about fast fashion, a video that I did last year: what it is and how does it

work? if you found some food for thought in

today's video, thumbs up! thank you so much! subscribe to my channel if you're

interested in fashion! I upload new videos every Wednesday and every Sunday,

so see you soon again, bye!

What IS Clotted Cream? How Do I Eat Cornish Clotted Cream? How To Use Clotted Cream Recipe Liquid - Duration: 4:57.

Welcome to British cook! What is Clotted Cream? How do I eat Clotted Cream?

What do I do with the creamy liquid that's left over?

These are questions I get asked every day of British cook so here. I am about to answer them just you

Clotted cream that sounds disgusting, ooh

The names very old, ancient Britain old! Clotted cream was recorded as being given to people in the 14th century

Written in poetry in the 15th century and in recipe books in the 16th century in Britain a very old

British dish

historically always from the southwest of the UK

Devon, Cornwall if you ever see clotted cream with a label Cornish clotted cream it has to be made by Cornish cows

Cornish milk and be at least 55% Fat

but you don't need to worry about that because in my video

I'll show you exactly how to make Clotted Cream at home really cheap and really easy

So what do I use clotted cream in? Clotted Cream can be use and so many different things. British cream tea.

Scones and if you're interested in how to make a British cream tea

there will be links coming up at the end of this video to my scones video how to make scones and

Also to my clotted cream video

Clotted cream it's also used a lot in making fudge, on hot deserts like apple pie, hot chocolate fudge cake.

Personal favorite on top of ice cream. I mean it can even be added to things like mashed potatoes, scrambled eggs

Anything you can make a little bit richer by adding a bit of cream too you can make a lot lot richer by adding clotted cream too.

Also in the first comment down below. I'll leave a link to my recipes while I make other things. We've got cream fudge affogato

clotted cream chocolate truffles chocolate truffles, but with clotted cream

Amazing there's even a rumor I might use it in pasty

top secret pasty recipe

That's a bit history and background about what you can do with with Clotted Cream?

You'll probably here though as well because you've made cream, maybe and you ought to know what to do the liquid

That's left over. Let me show you a couple things I do with the liquid that is left over

really easy

also

I get loads of questions about where to get the cream from where to get the cream from in America

What sort of cream works if you look down through the comments underneath the Clotted Cream video. You'll find your Answer there

Don't use any kind of UHT cream or any kind of cream of stabilizers and unfortunately this is very common in America

It's simply won't work

Do you know what would be really cool if you could join me click the subscribe button

Tap the bell to get notifications come through and don't miss a thing from British cook. So when you make clotted cream

There's a liquid that separates underneath it and what I'm going to do is just pour that out a minute so what we've got here is this liquid

It it's going to come out quite quickly

This is the sort of thing you can do with the cream after you've used clotted cream delicious keep watching give this a go

So there's quite a few things you do it's liquid the first thing. We'll do is start with the most simple one coffee

Just look at that

Quick stir

Absolutely gorgeous coffee

lovely creamy

So the coffee's a really quick nice way to use it up

It keeps a couple days the fridge feed it into coffee use it

It's a very creamy substitute for milk in any recipe you think of I'm about to show you my favorite way to use this up

It's a British dessert called, Eton Mess

for the Eton Mess get some meringue crush them break them up I

Love meringue don't you? Grab yourself some strawberries

Raspberries, blackberries any kind of berry you fancy, chuck them in there

in meringue

What we're going to do is quickly squash up fruit a little bit to squash it down mix it in there

Next we add our liquid

pour that in

So

This becomes quite a sweet dish and the meringue does start to melt quite quickly in cream

going to put more meringue on top of it. Close to serving up

More meringue

MUSIC

Here's another idea you can just pour it over

Fruit you can pour it on cereal you

Can pour it on your porridge, mix it in with your porridge, so many different things you can do with this

Glue the feathers to the top of the floral foam.

Next, glue them to all the sides.

Attach the catkins in the front of candles...

...and add a forsythia.

Now attach the forsythias in the back of candles.

Brian Ortega becomes first to finish Frankie Edgar at UFC 222 - Duration: 4:49.

Brian Ortega becomes first to finish Frankie Edgar at UFC 222 The words that Brian Ortega

dreamed but never dared to utter until Saturday night flowed easily following the convincing

knockout that leaves him one win from fulfilling his remarkable ascent.

"I'm coming for the belt," Ortega said.

After landing a sharp left elbow to the head of Frankie Edgar, Ortega leaned on every lesson

he absorbed in a Harbor City garage to become a better boxer and became the first fighter

to finish the former lightweight champ.

Ortega (14-0) produced a destructive combination of punches capped by a thunderous uppercut

that dropped Edgar (21-6-1) to the canvas.

The finish of UFC 222's co-main event at T-Mobile Arena came with 16 seconds left in the first

round.

In the main event, women's featherweight champion Cris Cyborg defended her belt 62 days after

her previous defense by stopping Yana Kunitskaya by first-round technical knockout.

Ortega's win should advance him to face featherweight champ Max Holloway, who suffered a leg injury

last month to scrap his fight with Edgar.

Holloway tweeted Saturday night that he'd like to meet Ortega in July.

"I have worked really hard to get here and it's even more surreal than I could've imagined,"

said Ortega, 27.

After accepting Redondo Beach surfer-boxer James Luhrsen as a mentor, Ortega has remained

unbeaten as both an amateur and pro mixed martial arts fighter.

His size advantage over Edgar was so stark because Ortega rehydrated more than 20 pounds,

and he leaned on the advantage by withstanding some punches.

"I thought he was going to shoot in on me" for a takedown, Ortega said.

"It never came.

I was not going to be the one to shoot.

I have too much respect for his wrestling.

I knew that I could stand and bang with him.

I felt like I could knock him out."

Ortega said he felt the uppercut could do damage after landing one earlier.

"I kept pursuing it until, 'OK, you've got it.

Let's go finish him,'" Ortega said.

"I just beat one of the best to ever do it, one of the real legends."

The Costa Mesa-trained Cyborg (20-1) is a legend in her own right, too.

She briefly dealt with some uncomfortable moments against Kunitskaya, an 11th-hour addition

to the main event, before finishing her.

Bothered by Kunitskaya's ability to press her to the cage, Cyborg promptly hammered

a knee to the challenger's gut and planted a fist on her head to back her off, then reverted

to what she does best.

With Kunitskaya (10-4) at striking distance, Cyborg unleashed a slew of punches that dropped

the challenger to the mat, where Cyborg wound up and fired at least 18 unanswered punches

before referee Herb Dean stopped the fight 3 minutes, 25 seconds in.

This victory came after Cyborg defended her belt Dec. 30 in the UFC 220 main event in

a grueling, five-round unanimous-decision triumph over former UFC bantamweight and world

boxing champion Holly Holm in the same venue.

"I train all the time so I took this fight on short notice [and] I felt very prepared,"

Cyborg said.

By making clear there are few effective challengers who can deal with her punching power, Cyborg

intensified her push to fight Brazilian countrywoman and bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes.

UFC President Dana White said he likes the idea of Nunes fighting Cyborg, instead of

previously scheduled opponent Raquel Pennington, on May 12 in Brazil.

Cyborg, however, suggested July might be better.

"I am waiting for Amanda now," Cyborg said.

"She called me out and I want to fight her.

I just want to remind everyone that she called me out.

And when you call out Cyborg, Cyborg will answer."

Earlier, exciting young bantamweight Sean O'Malley flashed rapid kicking and punching

power to dictate the first two rounds against Andre Soukhamthath before a bad right foot

injury left O'Malley in survival mode.

The judges gave O'Malley the victory by scores of 29-27, 29-27, 29-28,.

Veteran Andrei Arlovski leaned on new takedown lessons to outwork Stefan Struve by scores

of 29-28, 29-28, 30-27.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger makes stunning confession ahead of Brighton clash ● News Now ● # AFC - Duration: 2:22.

Arsene Wenger insists he is facing up to the harsh fact that Arsenal's season is going

from bad to worse.

Not that he is looking for any sympathy or outside support in his private battle to raise

his understandably dejected spirits.

"I don't need to pick myself up.

That's a subject we don't need to talk about,"

the defiant Gunners boss snapped when quizzed about who he can lean on in such troubled

times.

The one sure-fire solution to easing the present mess is by returning to winning ways.

"Look at what the players produced physically and you will be amazed.

It's the highest of the season in the Premier League with the two teams together.

"The players produced the effort but City took advantage of every single situation in

the first half.

"Yes, the players wanted to make a point but one team was full of confidence and one

was still on a low.

"To get in a cup final you have to fight hard and you hope to take the trophy home.

It was a big disappointment for the players.

"On top of that, they have to face a media storm and that does not help.

Confidence is a big part of the game."

Wenger then hit back at criticism from his former Arsenal defender Martin Keown regarding

an apparent lack of flexibility in terms of tactics and formations.

Ahead of the trip to face Brighton, he said: "That statement is not completely true because

we played with five at the back on Sunday and with four on Thursday.

We played in a very offensive way.

"I am trying to find solutions where the team feels comfortable and confident.

But that's difficult at the moment.

"You have to have some perspective.

We played against a team not only of top quality but full of confidence."

Jurgen Klopp explains how Liverpool have improved without Philippe Coutinho ● News Now ● #LFC - Duration: 2:10.

Jurgen Klopp believes Liverpool became too reliant on Philippe Coutinho and have become

a better side since the Brazilian joined Barcelona in January.

The 25-year-old became the third most expensive player in history when he joined Ernesto Valverde's

Champions League favourites in a £142million deal last month.

In the absence of their former playmaker, Liverpool have won seven of their last 10

games and scored three goals or more on four occasions.

'With Phil we were giving him a four-yard pass and you don't need that,' Klopp said,

explaining how his team has adapted.

'Now we don't have this dominant player – 'Give it to me, give it to me, give

it to me' – that's how it is.

I don't want this to be misunderstood.

It was really good, that's why Phil is the player he is, but now we play differently

and not only because he is out.

'I don't want this to be misunderstood.

It was really good, that's why Phil is the player he is, but now we play differently

and not only because he is out.

It is because the boys do so well.

'Roberto was always a dominant player; that's why he drops into midfield and gets the ball

and loses a few balls where you have a heart attack, but then he wins it back and starts

an attack.

It is not the biggest difference but there are a few decisive differences in the last

few games.

Maybe the biggest compliment is that nobody thought in the last few games: 'With Phil

it would have been different.'

'I really don't want to throw dirt after Phil because there is no need and everything

is fine, but it's just normal.

We played fantastic football with Phil as well.

The team needed to step up without him.'

Orienteering - Duration: 4:39.

Hello, this is Joseph, also known as Joxal,

and today we're going to be doing some orienteering.

This is at Belmont Regional Park,

and we will show you how it's done.

..or maybe we won't.

There are a number of different courses,

different difficulties, we're just going to start with the easy one.

We have the dipper, so you put this into the marks to register that you've been there.

So it's like a key.

And I have my map.

Let's see... so where are we...

well here's us I suppose.

OK, so we have Lucy over here, she's also doing the orienteering.

Hello Lucy

Hello

So what you need to do is to clear your dipper

It says Clear, so we go . . [beep]

and then ... Check [beep]

The orienteering course I went to is run by Wellington Orienteering.

I'll include below a link to their Facebook page where they list events.

They do a great job arranging access and sorting out the courses.

It's a different location each time - often at farms or in the country,

but they've also had ones at the Botanic Garden and Central Park.

There's a variety of difficulty levels at each event

I would say that you should choose the second-easiest course

if you're just starting out and have no problem with small hills.

As you can see at this gate people are going in all different directions.

I think even people with similar difficulty levels may get different routes,

so you can't just follow someone else if you're lost

you have to make sure you were going to the checkpoints in the right order for you.

We have a confused sheep leading us over there:

I suppose compasses can be helpful, but you really don't need one.

You can easily figure out your course from various landmarks on the map.

So whenever you come to one of these checkpoints

like that one, you have to dip your thing into a small hole.

You also have to check on the map that ...

we're on checkpoint seven so I have to put my thing in and also see if it's the checkpoint.

so it does say "fifty" on here, so you go [beep] and that says yep, and keep going.

Obviously the courses are always different,

but the easy course I'm doing here was more like a flat walk along some paths.

It was enjoyable but the navigation was pretty simple.

On another week I went to a course that was completely up and down hills

and through streams and through very muddy fields rather than wide paths

so that was definitely more work.

You don't have to be a member of the club if you're interested on coming along,

you can just turn up.

I paid a small fee which covered the hire of the electronic dipper device

which you use at each checkpoint as well as the map etc.

Once you're finished you have to go back to the table where you get your items

Time: forty-eight minutes, thirty-seven seconds.

So Lucy what did you think of the orienteering today? What bit did you enjoy?

I enjoyed standing on the cow pats.

Did you enjoy going through the bunker?

Yeah. And tripping over in the puddles.

I enjoyed soaking my shoes.

I enjoyed getting stuck in the mud.

What did you not enjoy?

I did not enjoy the length.

How about you Joe? What did you enjoy?

I enjoyed all of it. I enjoyed being able to come a lot closer to animals,

but that's not exactly part of it.

And I just found most of it good.

I think there's probably a few too many cowpats, but [shrug] it's all good.

So here's the orienteering links.

They also have a couple of permanent courses set up,

which I may look at in a later video.

See you next time
