Youtube daily report w Mar 24 2018

Mel Gibson's biblical drama The Passion of the Christ both divided and shocked audiences

nationwide after its release in 2004.

Regardless, it received three Academy Award nominations and remains the highest-grossing

R-rated film of all time.

On screen, The Passion of the Christ has its fair share of bizarre moments — like the

part where Satan carries around a baby Voldemort.

Mel Gibson purposely added those Uncanny Valley moments just to catch audiences off guard,

saying: "That's what evil is about, taking something that's good and twisting it a little

bit."

But as surreal as things can get during the movie itself, there were even more bizarre

happenings behind the scenes — some of which you might not even believe.

Electrifying work

According to one study, lightning strikes roughly 240,000 people per year.

In other words, it's fairly rare — but in 2003, it happened three times on the set of

The Passion of the Christ.

Lead actor Jim Caviezel claimed he was "lit up like a Christmas tree" while filming the

Sermon on the Mount sequence of the film.

"You got struck with lightning."

"I was struck by lightning."

"Light came right down from heaven and lit me up.

What people witnessed was an illumination around my body and a fire on the right and

left side of my head."

But he wasn't the only person on the set to get struck.

Caviezel added:

"Five minutes after I got hit, Jon Mikalini, an assistant, walks over and says 'Are you

okay?'

And then he got hit.

The difference was that they saw the bolt come down and hit Jon … All I felt was this

giant tremendous slap on my ears and a few seconds of a pink, red static in front of

my eyes."

"Shazam!"

Unbelievably, that wasn't even the first time the assistant director had been struck on

set.

According to BBC News, lightning had already struck his umbrella — luckily only causing

light burns on his fingertips.

Whiplash

Because you can't actually beat your film's star in real life, a hidden whipping post

was set up behind Caviezel while filming The Passion of the Christ's notoriously bloody

scourging scene.

The problem was, one of the actors doing the flogging didn't have the best aim.

Caviezel recalled to Today:

"[His lash] just extended over the board and hit me with such a velocity that I couldn't

breathe."

"I turned around and looked at the guy, and I tell you, I may be playing Jesus, but I

felt like Satan at that moment … a couple of expletives came out of my mouth."

Not that it helped — moments later, Caviezel accidentally received another blow.

Ouch.

Cross purposes

Not only did Caviezel get struck by lightning and accidentally whipped, he also dislocated

his shoulder while carrying the film's massive crucifix.

Caviezel's shoulder popping out of place was just the start of his misery.

Between the frigid cold and strong winds during the crucifixion scenes, the actor also got

a lung infection and pneumonia.

"My mouth was shaking uncontrollably.

My arms and legs went numb - I was suffocating on that cross."

But hey!

At least he didn't get migraines, right?

He got migraines

To add icing on top of Caviezel's cake of pain, the actor regularly suffered severe

migraines from working day in and day out with one eye cosmetically swollen shut.

According to Today, Caviezel had to head in to work at 2 AM every day in order to provide

enough time for the film's makeup artists to cover him in cosmetic bruises, cuts, lashes,

and fake blood.

They also had to arrange his crown of thorns, and seal one eye shut — which wreaked havoc

on his depth perception.

He told Fox News: "You are going to work every day with only one eye functioning, which gives

you headaches."

And you thought eye strain from your office job was bad.

Dramatic conversion

Filming The Passion of the Christ had a pretty profound effect on many people involved in

the production, and the film's set became the site of some religious conversions.

Father John Bartunek, who hung out on set, told National Catholic Register, "Everyone

felt comfortable talking about issues of faith.

Being a priest in the midst of that, I was like a lightning rod for spiritual conversations."

Fortunately, in this case he didn't mean an actual lightning rod.

One actor who became a Christian on-set was Luca Lionello, the actor who plays Judas.

Bartunek explained:

"He asked for confession.

Apparently he had been completely transformed by the experience.

He baptized his children, sanctified his marriage and came back to the Church."

Naturally, not everyone who worked on the set of The Passion of the Christ experienced

a religious epiphany — but most people were affected in one way or another.

Caviezel told The 700 Club:

"All the actors that worked on this film … it will stay with them the rest of their lives.

People will always come up to them, people will always ask them about the movie they

were in, it will always be with them."

Career wrap

During the filming of The Passion of the Christ, Caviezel had to endure a lot of pain and freak

accidents — but the bad luck didn't end there.

Caviezel has since claimed that he's been blackballed by Hollywood for playing Jesus.

In fact, he recalled Gibson trying to talk him out of it because of the effect it would

have on his career.

"A truly great remarkable man."

"Aw thank you very much Ron that's very kind of you."

"Jesus Christ is here with me."

Still, Caviezel's career might be due for a resurrection, with the actor set to reprise

his most famous role in Gibson's upcoming sequel to The Passion.

"It's a sequel to the Passion of the Christ, is that true?"

"It's probably about three years off because it's a big subject."

"Yeah, yeah, I read the book."

Caviezel also described the project to USA Today, saying:

"I won't tell you how he's going to go about it.

But I'll tell you this much, the film he's going to do is going to be the biggest film

in history.

It's that good."

With so many bizarre happenings taking place on the set of the original, we can only imagine

what's in store for the sequel — although we're definitely hoping for fewer lightning

strikes.

WEIRDEST CONVENTION ENCOUNTERS #2| Dolan True Stories - Duration: 8:27.

• From Superman in a kilt to a man obsessed with Pokémon, the Planet Dolan crew re-enact

some of the best true stories from our subreddit about the weirdest things we ever saw at a

convention.

I'm Doopie and today I'll be your narrator.

Number 10 was submitted by Auger306 Spinalpalm

Spinalpalm was at Comic-Con one time when he saw something weird.

There was a drunk man dressed as Green Lantern, who began acting like a chicken by pecking

people and squawking.

When he saw security guards approaching, he made a run for it before stripping naked.

He then ran around and began to grind against all the girls.

Eventually, security was able to grab him and take him away.

As they dragged him towards the exit, the man kept kicking and screaming.

Number 9 was submitted by Fancy_Mustard Pringle

One time, at a Pokémon convention, Pringle saw a guy who was obsessed with Pokémon.

The guy had completely lost it, throwing Poke balls at everyone as if they were Pokémon.

He even chucked one of them at Pringle's face, which hurt so much that he still felt

the pain days later.

While glaring at everyone, the guy also kept screaming, "Don't touch my Pikachu plush!"

Near the end of the convention, he saw an obese man, so he yelled out, "I have found

a big fat huge Snorlax!"

The guy got out a Poke ball and said, "Oh, not big enough, I see."

So, the guy grabbed one of the giant Poke balls that were on display and chucked it

at the obese man as though it was a bowling ball.

The ball ran over the obese man, causing a concussion.

That was when security finally came and dragged the obsessed man out of the convention.

Number 8 was submitted by nxmxhs Danger Dolan

Dolan's brother, Zaraganba, once took him to a not-so-well-known Comic-Con. Dolan thought

it was pretty cool, since they were selling a few comics and other things.

Then he saw people gathering at a stage, so he decided to join them.

It turned out that Superman – or someone in cosplay – was on the stage.

Dolan was excited to see him, until a drunk guy jumped onto the stage and literally threw

Superman off!

The drunk guy then said, "You're not Superman!"

That was when he stripped naked, scarring Dolan for life.

Number 7 was submitted by ZOMBI3_NDN Tolop

Tolop went to Kamori-Con with his sister and their cousin.

They sat by the door to the merchandise area, resting after having looked around the convention

all day.

Just then, Tolop saw someone in a Batman costume, wearing a tutu, flailing his arms like a bird.

So Tolop asked the man if he could record a video of him.

He just said, "You see the size of these thunder thighs?

I could squat all day!"

The man then slapped his thighs, making Tolop and his cousin laugh their asses off.

Number 6 was submitted by TheWiseSerpents Grgak

The first con that Grgak ever went to was A-Con when he was 14.

His dad told him to stay with him but, being a 14-year-old, Grgak didn't listen.

While Grgak walked around, looking at the various displays, an overweight man in a semi-sheer

wedding dress offered him some cookies.

Not being stupid, Grgak said "no thanks" but, for some reason, his response made the

man very upset.

So, the man picked him up and threw him over his shoulder.

He began to carry Grgak out of the building, but he bit the man really hard on the arm.

After the man let him go, Grgak ran to a cop who helped him find his dad.

Number 5 was submitted by Leo360InfiniteMix SaltySquid

SaltySquid and his friends were at a convention with very tight security, so they thought

they were safe.

They were safe, but only up until the last few hours when a random man came into the

convention hall and shouted, "I have a bomb!"

He pulled out a homemade C-4 explosive and said, "I will go boom!"

Everyone was afraid, but a few cosplayers were able to use their props as weapons to

hit the man.

The man fell to the floor, and security came and took him away.

The bomb was later found to be fake but the man ended up being banned from other conventions

– big or small.

It was an adrenaline-pumping experience for SaltySquid and his friends, especially as

they watched others beating the man with their props.

Number 4 was submitted by Ceylan_Jones Nixxiom

Nixxiom and Derek once went to Comic-Con, cosplaying as two of the characters from Undertale.

Nixxiom went as Sans, while Derek was Papyrus.

After a long day of buying merchandise, they needed to take a break.

So, they went to a rest area that was under the escalators.

When they got there, Nixxiom and Derek became very uncomfortable when they saw two drunk

people having sex.

What made it worse was that they were cosplaying as Mario and Luigi.

Nixxiom and Derek just walked away, scarred for life, and looked for a different place

to relax.

Number 3 was submitted by GamerSheCat05 Pandora

Pandora, her younger sister, and their dad went to the Wizard World Comic-Con and were

heading over to watch the Smash Bros tournament.

Just then, a guy wearing a Superman costume and a kilt sped by them on a unicycle while

playing the bagpipes.

As they watched, Pandora, her younger sister, and their dad rolled on the floor with laughter.

Later, they saw the same guy, only that time he was dressed as Mario.

It was the best thing Pandora had ever seen.

Number 2 was submitted by AkiraMJ Mimi

Mimi was enjoying an Anime Convention with a friend when she saw a very tall man wearing

a full body anatomy suit and a horse head.

He was running around different floors with his arms raised.

A lot of people, including Mimi, found him to be funny.

Then, while Mimi and her friend were walking down a long hallway on a different floor,

she turned to see the man running towards them… but he passed right by.

Then, one of the employees told him to either leave the convention or stay on the main floor.

Despite what happened, Mimi still found the man to be hilarious.

Number 1 – What was

the weirdest thing I ever saw at a convention?

Real Estate on Bowen Island - Who are your local police? - Duration: 4:10.

Welcome to 'Better on Bowen.' Bowen Island --when it comes to safety-- is a model for

community policing. So, we're here today at one of Bowen's most popular

restaurants, Barcelona, to meet Corporal Paulo Arreaga

from the Bowen Island RCMP. And, Paulo is going to talk to us a little bit about

just why Bowen is so great for community policing.

So, what would be a typical day for you on Bowen, working on Bowen? Well, just like

anywhere else the police work is the same: you know, routine patrols. You do a lot of

administrative work. So, paperwork. And, you respond to calls. So,

there's no such thing as 'routine' because you have to expect the unexpected no

matter where you're policing. Yes, you might go, you know, maybe a few hours

without a call. But our job sometimes is to look for trouble. So, yes, I

mean a typical day is just routine, and patrols, and meeting community members,

and yeah shaking hands, and making sure everybody's safe, and letting

people know that they are safe. How many members actual on Bowen Island?

There's myself a corporal. So, I'm the

supervisor, and there's two constables, and there's one clerk, office clerk. So, we

cover our shifts 24 hours. And, yes, we're all here for three years or more. How

has being on Bowen changed or influenced the way that --if it has it all--

the way that you would do policing?

It hasn't, really, changed the way I've done policing. I've always been very

community policing orientated. At least, that's the way that I have approached

from. When I started policing, I liked it. I enjoyed, I enjoyed, getting that

positive vibe from the people who, you know, I'm paid to protect and help. So, it

hasn't really changed. It's just allowed me to focus more on

community policing. So, it is a great, great, posting to be able to exercise

that approach. Right.

What do you mean by "community policing"? Sure.

Community policing is getting to know every aspect of every community as

best as you can. Whether it's businesses, agencies, schools. And, working with them.

So, for example ,going to the school and doing talks. And, you or the police

officer who deals with the school. But, at the same time has to deal with the

municipality and/or the fire firefighters. And, you work together to

deal with a problem. Whether it's speeding or problem-oriented policing,

which means you focus on...let's say there's some 'break-and-

enters' in one area then you get together with BlockWatch and other enforcement

agencies, Whether it's Bylaws. And, you work together to deal with the community

and help them out. So, that approach. And, more foot patrols. And, again getting to

know who the store owners are. And, that way when they see you

they don't say, 'Oh, there's a police officer.' They say, Oh, there's Paulo or

there so-and-so.' And, it's more comfortable and trusting. Well, thanks

very much! This is, really, great talking with you. Of course.

What Residents Need to Know About Being Safer on Bowen Island - Duration: 5:14.

Bowen Island is a great safe community to live in. But there's still some things

that you can do to keep you and your family safe on Bowen. So today, we're

going to talk to Corporal Paulo Arreaga of the Bowen Island RCMP. And, we're here at

one of Bowen Island's most popular restaurants, called Barcelona. Paulo is

going to share some tips with us today about how to stay safe on Bowen. So, let's

go in.

So, what would you recommend that people would do just to make their their homes

and their lives safer on Bowen? I guess anybody here --whether you're new or or have been

living here for a long time-- it's always good to to upgrade your safety. So, one of

the things that we focus on is keeping your house secure. Like when you're

not going to be there I just always say, "Just secure your home. Walk around your

house. Get to know the weak spots." And we have had break and enters. And people you

say, "Oh yeah, I haven't fixed that door for a long time." or "I just forgot

about that window." But, walk around your house once a year maybe or more. Get to

know the weak spots --whether you left a ladder somewhere that's easily

accessible or a cottage or shed with expensive tools. Take inventory. Take

serial numbers. Because as much as we have low crime rate, if and when it does

happen to you you don't want to be left stranded, saying, "Well, that was a

chainsaw I'm not going to get back. Because I don't even know serial number. I can't

even say when I lost it." Take walk around your house.

Lock your doors. Keep that consistency. You know, whether you're

going to be parking in Snug Cove, we do get thefts from vehicles. It's an

opportunistic crime. So secure your vehicle.

Another one is have an emergency kit ready to go in case an emergency. Whether

it's we lose power when it's cold, or an earthquake, or fires, have an emergency

kit in your home and in your car. Because if you're going to be stuck in Vancouver

and for some reason something happens have food, have a first-aid kit, have a

radio, have flashlights. Depending on the weather, have water, have warm things, in

your car, and in your home ready to go. You know, you need to leave the

house because some emergency, grab what you can. But there are sites that

you can get a good proper list on that. I know,

personally, I kind of have fun, gathering things for an emergency. But,

that's a big one. Be part of the Bowen Island Emergency or Bowen Island

Notification System. And, that's basically a notification system that you get in

case there is something that you need to know within Bowen Island. That's part of

the Municipality. They will register you there And that's a

big one --have your home address visible for emergency services. I know the first,

one of the first, calls I got here was a very, very, urgent one. And I could not

find the house. I couldn't find the house, simply because the house numbers were

not lit properly, and they were facing away from the street. So, it took me maybe

30 minutes; when in the city it would have taken us maybe five tops to get to

these people. So, have a well-lit visible address signs. if you're walking be well

lit, as well. Not just a flashlight in front of you so you can see your path,

but people behind you can see you, whether it's reflective clothing or tags

have that ready. And, wear a seatbelt. You know, just because I'm on Bowen

doesn't mean that the laws don't apply to us here. Have to wear a seatbelt. Try not

to pass. If you're gonna drink don't drive. There are options here on

Bowen Island, whether it's a local taxi, whether it's a friend or a neighbour. And,

then that brings me to another point: it's get to know your neighbours. They're

going to be your biggest help if you ever need it. Whether you forgot something at

home, so you can you bring it to the ferry, or you know they notice something

different that in your house, or somebody coming to your house who shouldn't be

there, get to know your neighbors as much as

you can. Because at the end of the day, they're going to be there to help you out.

Or you might be there to help them out. It's not just us that

keeps the community safe; everybody here plays a role.

Well, thanks very much. It's been really great talking with you today. Of course.

What New Residents Need to Know about Safety and Policing on Bowen Island - Duration: 4:50.

Welcome to 'Better on Bowen.' Bowen Island is, definitely, a safe place to live. But,

there are still some things that you as a new resident would want to know about

how to keep you and your family safe. So, today we're gonna talk to Corporal

Paulo Arreaga of the Bowen Island RCMP. And, Paulo is going to talk to us a

little bit about how to stay safe on Bowen, and why it's such a great place to

live.

If a person was a new resident on Bowen is there something they should know

about policing on Bowen Island?

Well, about policing...I would say,

don't be surprised, if at one point you end up

just waving at us as you're driving by. Because people... You know, don't

hesitate to come to us for questions. But, yes, it's very pro-policing community.

Yes, approach us about anything, any questions you have. We have the resources

here. We are part of the Sea-to-Sky regional policing corridor. So, we have

resources at our disposal for serious crimes. Or whether it's

forensics, or police dog unit, or even helicopters where you have a search and

rescue situation or emergency. But, yes, to knock on our door if you have

questions. Or you want to say, "hi". And, we'd like to think that we're very

approachable. And we drive around, getting to know people. And yeah, just don't

be surprised, yeah don't be shy. I've heard a lot of, I've seen a lot of,

statistics that showing that Bowen Island is relatively safe compared to

the Lower Mainland, in different areas of the Lower Mainland.

Can you comment on that? Is that your experience? Statistically yes, it will be

safer. Having said that, we're not, we're not untouchable to crime. So, we do have

assaults. We have mischief. We have property crime, which includes break and

enters, or theft from vehicles. So, we can't be complacent as a community. And,

the reason we got there, I believe, is because the community takes pride and

comfort in being safe. You know, having their family be safe for their

guests. So, everybody here is on the same page. But, if we're complacent people

might take advantage of that. And, we do get the odd theft from a vehicle and

it might go unreported, as well, So, we don't have all the statistics. And, we have had

seasonal break-ins. And yes, so, we are generally safer, but that doesn't mean

we're untouchable. I feel like everybody kind of strives to

be a better neighbor, to be a better just resident overall; and just

try to make things work for everybody. So, you can sense that. You very welcomed

here. And, you're you're accepted very quickly. So, that's what I love about

working on Bowen, as an RCMP. It just makes my life easier. I think that's what

blew my mind, coming to Bowen Island. Even policing on Bowen Island is that

everybody's on the same boat. You know, for lack of a better term, everybody kind

of feels each other situation, say, "Oh, I missed the ferry," or "I'm snowed in," or "The

power went out." So, we all feel each other's pain. And so, I've experienced

many times, where you know, whether it's somebody, walking out after the midnight

ferry, water taxi, needing a ride home. They know they've been there, so they'll

pick them up or help them out. So, having --maintaining-- that community

relation, that neighbour, neighbourly attitude, I think it's what's

going to keep us unique and safe and happy. Yeah that's what I'm

going to miss about Boeing Island. Other communities have it; but I think it goes

by a neighbourhood by neighbourhood. Here, well, I think we're one big neighbourhood.

You can tell that when you come here. You're just like, everybody

knows me, you know who everybody is.

So it's respecting that as well; and not taking that for granted.

That's what's going to yes, make you happy here. Well, thanks very much! It's really

great talking with you. Of course.

10 Great Car Films - Duration: 9:45.

10.

Death Race (2008) In an alternate future, the U.S. economy collapses,

causing unemployment to skyrocket, and crime to rise.

This leads to more prisoners in the system, and privatized prisons for profit.

One prison has a pay-per-view broadcast of a gladiator style game called "Death Race"

where prisoners in Mad Max looking cars drive around a racetrack trying to murder one another

and come in first.

Should a racer win 5 races, he will be granted freedom.

Jason Statham is framed for his wife's murder and ends up in this prison, where he is given

the chance to take on the persona of a popular racer who seemingly died in the last race.

The racer had won 4 races already, so all he needs to do is win one more.

The story is dumb, the acting nonexistent, but the action and spectacle of it all more

than makes up for the film's flaws.

A great popcorn film if ever there was one.

9.

Vanishing Point (1971) The 1971 film Vanishing Point is pretty much

one giant car chase on film.

Car delivery driver Kowalski makes a bet that he can get his next delivery, a 1970 Dodge

Challenger R/T 440 magnum, from Denver, Colorado to San Francisco by 3pm the following day.

Having to drive exactly 1,000 miles in that short amount of time, Kowalski puts the pedal

to the metal and roars off.

With a supply of Benzedrine pills to keep him awake, Kowalski leads police on a crazy

multi-state chase.

A blind DJ named Super Soul takes interest, and encourages him to evade police, and his

attention causes others to take interest and Kowalski ends up with fans offering support.

The film's ending needs to be seen to do it justice, but rest assured, it will not

disappoint.

8.

The Hitchhiker (1953) Before the Michael Mann thriller Collateral,

there was The Hitchhiker.

One of the all-time great film noirs, this 1953 thriller was directed by Ida Lupino.

Based on the true story of psychopathic murderer Billy Cook, The Hitchhiker is a gripping film.

The opening line "This is the true story of a man and a gun and a car.

The gun belonged to the man.

The car might have been yours…." will grab your attention and refuse to let go.

Two men on their way to Mexico for a fishing trip pick up a hitchhiker, who turns out to

be a psychotic killer.

Held hostage and forced to drive him to California, the killer taunts and toys with his hostages,

and he tells them he will kill them once the trip is over.

The film is claustrophobic and the tension is off the charts, if you haven't seen this

film, go and watch it, you won't regret it.

7.

Gone In Sixty Seconds (2000) This remake of the 1974 original does everything

right.

The original was one of the strangest films ever made, with stitched together scenes of

cars and stunts directed by stuntman H.B.

Halicki.

The remake is slick, and smooth with an all-star cast.

Nicolas Cage plays a master thief who needs to steal 50 cars in 96 minutes, or his brother

will be killed.

Gathering together a team of thieves, he sets off on his mission.

In typical Jerry Bruckheimer fashion, the set pieces are ludicrous and the action is

eye-popping.

The final chase scene alone is worth the price of admission, as Cage roars around in a 67

Ford Shelby GT500, with what looks like every cop in the city chasing him.

At one point a car get flung through a wall by a rogue wrecking ball, adding some crazy

to the mix.

6.

Days Of Thunder (1990) Days Of Thunder Follows the story of Cole

Trickle (Tom Cruise), as he tries to become a champion NASCAR driver.

From his start as a rookie, to his training, to eventually winning a race, the story will

keep you engaged.

The rivalry between Cole and fellow racer Rowdy Burns ( Michael Rooker) intensifies

throughout the film, eventually leading to disaster.

The story was written by Tom Cruise and Robert Towne, and is a typical Tom Cruise film.

This leads to an entertaining, although predictable film with plenty of flashy scenes to keep

you hooked.

The characters are one dimensional, the plot is as stock as a car rolling off the assembly

line, and the acting is ok, but it all adds up to a fun car film that can be watched again

and again.

5.

Rush (2013) Ron Howard's biopic about the rivalry between

Formula One racers Niki Lauda (Daniel Bruhl) and James Hunt (Chris Hemsworth) is a wonderful

film, but for some reason was overlooked by audiences.

The two leads are excellent, and the keep this rather predictable story of obsessive

competition grounded.

As the rivalry between the two (one a nerd and the other an easygoing hedonist) develops,

the film gives us big, over-the-top, crazy sequences that beautifully show the danger

and allure of racing.

You will want to look away, but you won't, and when it's over you will want more.

Howard does a fantastic job bringing this true story to life, and after watching it

once you will want to add it to your collection.

4.

Christine (1983) This classic is an adaptation of the Stephen

King novel of the same name.

Christine follows the story of Arnold "Arnie" Cunningham, as he restores a 1957 Plymouth

Fury, only not everything is as it seems.

As Arnie works on the car, he starts changing, becoming more aggressive.

At first it seems like maybe he's just becoming arrogant due to the cool car he now has, but

it turns out it's the car itself.

As time goes on the car become itself becomes sentient, and starts killing.

Stephen King's twisted story about a murderous car is enhanced by both John Carpenter's

directing style and his creepy music score.

Other films have tried to pull off the "possessed car" concept, but none execute as perfectly

as Christine.

3.

Drive (2011) When Drive was released, not everyone knew

what to expect.

From the trailers it looked like a high octane action film, instead it was a slow burning

thriller.

The film follows the nameless Driver (Ryan Gosling), as he leads a double life.

On one hand he's a stunt driver and part time mechanic, on the other he offers his

services as a getaway driver with specific rules.

His life is thrown into chaos when he takes a job to help a girl, and gets in way over

his head.

This movie is a cinematic beauty.

The soundtrack is engrossing, the cinematography is gorgeous, and the story, while simple,

is expertly told and will keep you on the edge of your seat.

Critics love it, and audiences didn't quite understand it, but Drive is one of the greatest

car films of all time.

2.

Mad Max : Fury Road (2015) The Mad Max films have always been over the

top, with wacky villains and insane cars, and Fury Road follows in the footsteps of

its predecessors.

The film follows the story of Imperator Furyosa (Charlize Theron) as she tries to save herself

and a group of female slaves, and Max (Tom Hardy) who was in the wrong place at the wrong

time.

As they race along the dystopian landscape that was once Australia in a tractor trailer

covered in spikes and weapons, they contend with the warlord chasing them and his troops.

The visuals are as gorgeous as they are violent, with explosions and bullets around every corner.

The vehicles are so loaded with weapons and spikes that any one of them would probably

get you through a zombie apocalypse with ease.

The pinnacle of the films over-the-top antics in the giant rolling sound system: speakers

on top of speakers making a pyramid, with a crazed guy hanging from bungie cords, playing

a flaming guitar.

This film is awesome.

1.

Fast And The Furious 7 (2015) The latest entry in the Fast and Furious leaves

no holds barred, and steps into the realm of the absurd.

This may sound like a bad thing, it's not, every second of this crazy ride will keep

you glued to the screen.

As each new film in the franchise gets released, the bar gets raised in an effort to out do

the other, leaving us with this awesome film.

No longer is this street racing crew racing cars, instead they are taking on an ex-CIA

assassin and a band of mercenaries.

The car stunts are impossible, the fight scenes over the top, and at one point they fling

a $4 million dollar Lykan Hypersport out the window a tower in Dubai.

The film holds the record for the fastest film to gross over $1 billion dollars, and

is the 3rd highest grossing film of 2015 (Behind Avengers: Age of Ultron and Jurassic World).

The Day a Wrestling Legend was Defeated | Strangest Moments - Duration: 7:18.

Greco-Roman Wrestling is not for the meek or the mild.

It's contested by some of the toughest, scariest men

on the planet.

And the toughest, scariest fighters of all can be found competing

in the Super Heavyweight division.

Within that division,

one man reigned supreme for more than a decade.

And this wasn't simply a case of being top dog.

It was historic.

It was utter domination.

You can learn a lot about a man from his nicknames.

Russian Bear.

Alexander the Great.

The Experiment.

Nobody simply hands you those names.

You earn them.

Going into the 2000 Olympic Games final,

Russian Super Heavyweight Aleksandr Karelin, standing at 1 metre 93cm

and weighing 130kg, hadn't lost a bout for 13 years.

His career record read

887 wins

and one loss,

12 consecutive European Championships,

nine consecutive World Championships

and gold medals at the Olympic Games

in Seoul...

..Barcelona...

..and Atlanta, where a chest injury in the final

meant he'd essentially won the gold medal one-handed.

But that was typical of Karelin.

Two gladiators, ladies and gentlemen!

Superhuman feats are standard fare for superhuman athletes.

Nobody had even scored a point against him for seven years.

The biggest, baddest wrestlers in the world

were openly terrified of him.

Most of them had lost the fight before it had even begun.

Karelin had one move in particular that cemented his legend.

Reverse body lifts are practically unheard of

in the Super Heavyweight division.

Few had the strength to execute them.

For Karelin, it became his trademark.

Karelin was more than simply a physical miracle.

He also had the sharpest wrestling mind in the world.

His sports science PhD included a thesis on how to defend the suplex.

He was the strongest, the smartest,

the most aggressive and the most committed wrestler in the world.

He was "a freak of nature".

His opponent in the 2000 Olympic Games final

was not from such impressive stock.

Rulon Gardner, a dairy farmer from Wyoming,

had no pedigree at all at international level.

What he lacked in experience,

he made up for in strength and endurance.

His huge, powerful frame had developed during years of

hard labour on the farm.

And we're not talking about typical farmyard chores.

One his favourite hobbies was wrestling...

with cows.

Real cows.

To stand any chance against the unbreakable Karelin, Gardner

would need to draw on all of that cow-grappling experience.

But Karelin had dealt with stronger, better wrestlers than Gardner.

The bout was expected to be a procession.

Greco-Roman Wrestling matches are contested over two periods

of three minutes each.

If the scores are level, or only one point apart,

the bout goes into a three-minute overtime period.

Early in the first period, it didn't take long for Karelin's first

attempt at launching a reverse lift.

But Gardner was a huge specimen.

Even Alexander the Great couldn't get him off the floor.

The scores were level at the end of the first round.

Karelin still hadn't worked out how to combat Gardner's sheer size.

The second period began in a clinch.

The Russian inadvertently released his lock.

It was a huge mistake.

After a careful check, the referee signalled that Karelin

had broken the clinch first

and, according to a recent change in the rules,

that meant one point was awarded to Gardner.

1-0.

But the Team USA fans in the crowd weren't getting excited yet.

This was Karelin, after all.

The second period ended with Gardner still leading by one point.

Overtime was required.

The onus was on the Russian Bear to take control.

He had three minutes to protect his flawless record.

Karelin's big chance came when Gardner took the par terre position.

The scene was set for a famous reverse lift.

But Gardner wouldn't budge.

For the first time in 13 years,

Karelin looked human.

He had fought earlier in the day and was visibly tired.

But this was Karelin.

Surely he could find one last reserve of strength?

Every attempt to throw Gardner was proving to be futile

and time was running out.

In the last four seconds of the bout,

the unbreakable Karelin seemed to be conceding defeat.

Ladies and gentlemen, the gold medal,

Rulon Gardner of the United States of America.

It was unthinkable.

Gardner could scarcely believe what was happening.

The undisputed champion and greatest of all time

had been dethroned by a farm-boy from Wyoming.

Stunned, Karelin departed the stage.

He left his shoes on the mat,

a symbol of his immediate retirement from the sport.

Gardner enjoyed his moment,

briefly becoming a celebrity in his homeland.

He returned to the Olympic Games in 2004,

winning a bronze under the watchful eye of his old adversary.

But his career would not reach such heights again.

A Snowmobile accident,

an air crash and bankruptcy

followed his wrestling career.

Karelin's status as a Russian hero

was untarnished by the silver medal.

After having the highest possible honours bestowed on him,

he made a move into politics.

What happened that night in Sydney was one of the biggest upsets

in the history of the Olympic Games.

The strangest moments in sport usually arrive without warning.

Karelin versus Gardner came out of nowhere.

If it was a movie, it would be mocked for being unrealistic...

but it happened.

The farmer from Wyoming toppled the most dominant force ever seen

on a wrestling mat,

and nobody can ever take that away from Rulon Gardner.

Whatever your opinion of this habit, you probably did not think the simple

See 3 good reasons why pee in the shower may not be a bad idea:

If we consider that, on average, a person urine 7 times a day and multiply by

Bathing also consumes enough water, so we urinate while we are under the

Bizarre Things That Happened On The Set Of The Passion Of The Christ - Duration: 5:46.

Despite what happened, Mimi still found the man to be hilarious.

the weirdest thing I ever saw at a convention?

Top 10 Greatest PROFESSIONAL Wrestlers of All Time - Duration: 6:29.

Top 10 Greatest Professional Wrestlers of All Time

Everyone knows that professional wrestling is staged.

The matches are first scripted then rehearsed and the outcomes are pre-determined.

Nevertheless pro wrestlers have to deal with enormous physical punishment, real injuries

and a grueling travel schedule.

Fame comes at a high cost, here are the best to have ever achieved it:

10 - Buddy Rogers

Rogers became extremely popular in the 1950s and 1960s.

A very flamboyant competitor; he combined: attitude, an outstanding physique, and a signature

finishing move to become the first truly "complete" wrestler.

Although he could not surpass the two top wrestlers of his era (Thesz and Sammartino),

he helped elevate them and many others by playing the villain character so successfully.

Bottom line: No Buddy Rogers, No Ric Flair.

No Ric Flair no Sting.

No Sting, no … etc.

9 - The Rock

If God were to create a wrestler, he would create The Rock.

Blessed with all the natural attributes and charisma possible, Dwayne Johnson quickly

went the way of Hollywood.

He is easily the best athlete on this list and accomplished a great deal in the business

in a very short amount of time.

Wildly popular and extremely entertaining, The Rock is and probably will always be the

best wrestler ever to pick up a microphone.

8 - Andre the Giant

There might not be a more beloved figure.

In his prime he could literally squash any one who dared to step inside a ring with him.

Andre, through no fault of his own, routinely was booked as the "Goliath" character

versus many "Davids".

This made for good storytelling but limited his in ring accomplishments.

Injuries and disease eventually wore him down, but not before retiring as an all time favorite.

7 - Bruno Sammartino

Sammartino was the dominant wrestler of the 1960s and part of the 1970s.

He was a massive specimen who established the big man as the primary titleholder in

the United States.

Throughout his prime he wrestled and defeated all of the major players of the era.

"The Italian Stallion" as he was known was a good guy wrestler whose bruising and

powerhouse style endeared him to many fans, especially in the ethnic fanbase.

Sammartino came across as very likable even after an incident which he inadvertently killed

fellow wrestler Chick Garibaldi with a vicious body slam during a match.

6 - Steve Austin

Austin personified the "Attitude" era of professional wrestling (mid to late 1990s.)

At this time wrestling was at its peak and he was its brightest star.

Austin captivated both hardcore and casual fans with his rebellious personality.

Austin vs his boss Vince Mcmahon proved to be one of the most successful wrestling angles

ever portrayed.

The extremely charismatic Austin was hugely popular due to his tireless effort inside

the ring and flawless microphone skills.

5 - Antonio Inoki

The greatest wrestler ever to come from Asia, Inoki (pictured left) was noble and captivating

inside the ring.

He has set the bar for any competitor that steps in the Japanese ring and has done just

as much for the sport outside the ring as an ambassador.

Inoki's pro wrestling career lasted over 35 years throughout which he faced and defeated

some of the biggest names in the world.

He is also incredibly skilled as a legitimate mixed martial artist.

A sport in which Inoki is also a legend.

4 - Brett Hart

Hart was born into a wrestling family.

His father was a legendary wrestler and trainer, all seven of his brothers were in the wrestling

business, and all four of his sisters married professional wrestlers.

He is arguably the best technical wrestler of all time.

Brett Hart become a hugely popular and successful singles and tag team performer for his ability

to "tell stories" through his intense matches.

3 - Lou Thesz

A legend and innovator in the business, Thesz ascended the pro wrestling ranks in the 1930s

and is generally credited for inventing many maneuvers.

He was known as a "hooker" (a wrestler who used various legitimate moves to end matches

with double crossing opponents who wouldn't necessarily stick to the script).

This ability along with a supremely fluid style allowed him to hold on to the title

for over a decade while defeating all challengers.

2 - Ric Flair

In short Ric Flair is wrestling.

He has headlined every promotion he has ever been in from the 1970s to the early 2000s,

winning multiple World Championships in each.

Flair is legendary for being able to generate reactions from the crowd, with a mix of rule

breaking and a flashy ring entrance.

His incredible durability and colorful "promos" have made him a constant favorite whether

he was a good guy (babyface) or bad guy (heel).

1 - Hulk Hogan

The Hulkster ruled professional wrestling for two entire decades.

Possessing incredible charisma and physical stature he helped transform wrestling from

a niche pastime; spread out over several regional promotions to a mainstream brand of entertainment.

Hogan's marketability and appearances in movies and television helped turn the WWE

into a billion dollar industry and paved the way for today's high paid stars and elaborately

produced shows.

His in-ring ability; however left much to be desired, as he is widely regarded as a

below average wrestler.

Nevertheless Hogan rarely lost a match, even into his 50s.
