Distraught Veteran Brought To Tears Over Anonymous Note Found On Truck
The Vietnam War was controversial to many in the United States but it was a huge reality
to those who actually served during the war.
A Vietnam veteran finally got what he says was something he never received after returning
from the war 47 years ago.
Mike Koma, a Vietnam War vet, went to Walmart the way he usually would but when he returned
to his pick-up truck sitting in the parking lot, he saw a heartwarming surprise.
Mike said, "I went inside to get my canning supplies because I do my hot peppers."
Little did he know, a perfect stranger was up to something right outside the store.
When he returned to his truck after checking out, he found a note card with a picture of
the American Flag on his windshield.
Mike had served for one year in the 5th Infantry Division of the United States Army during
the Vietnam War.
The stranger who left the note on his windshield had noticed his Vietnam Veteran bumper sticker
and knew they had to speak up.
Now, any other time you find something on your windshield you might automatically assume
it's a ticket or some useless promo.
Mike was surprised to find a very sincere note on the postcard thanking him for his
service.
The note read: "Dear Vietnam veteran, thank you so much for your service in the United
States Army in Vietnam.
You, sir, are a hero in my eyes."
Mike was so stunned by the generous thank-you note because it was such a foreign concept
to him.
He recalled coming home from the war and having people spit on him and treat him with complete
disgust for serving in the controversial war.
"We didn't have a parade or anything," he added, "When I came home from Vietnam,
I flew into the state of Washington, and people were spitting at us and calling us baby killers."
After 47 years, Mike finally got the thank-you he rightfully deserves.
He says the thank-you "brought tears" to his eyes.
Mike and his wife are forever grateful to the woman who brightened his day.
Mike's wife, Mary, posted the note on Facebook in hopes someone who knows the kind lady.
Mary said, "[The note] made him feel good, and that's what I want to see him do, to
heal from that war."
"I'm going to thank her for that.
I'm going to ask her how many times she does that," Mike said.

Hello guys! Now I know this video idea is ancient but as today is my 18th birthday
and I'm officially an adult.
I thought it would be a great opportunity to share my
life story so far. Please note that I am no artist in fact I got shunned in my
Year 9 art class for not being able to draw an umbrella and a rice bowl.
So I was born in a small town in South England on this day in 1999. Fun fact, the
county I'm from is the birthplace of so many amazing people such as Tom Felton,
Andrew Garfield, Bill Nighy and Queen Julie Andrews.
In 2002 my family packed
up and moved to Brisbane Australia where on the 28th of March 2002, my sister Aimee
was born. TBH I remember being more excited for the Cadbury Easter bunny that
was roaming the hospital than my new sister. Sorry Aimee. Two years later in 2004
a few months after I began kindergarten it was time to pack up and leave my life
behind as my dad got offered a new job in Germany.
We lived in a town called Wiesbaden and I began attending an International School where I made some
really great friends. I loved school here and my favourite memories are when it
snowed and we would make snowmen and play around in the snow at lunchtime in
our bright puffy coats.
We had a lot of road trips and saw quite a lot of Europe
when we lived there and I wish I could remember more of it as I look back now
and realize I took all of this for granted. This dream life however all came
to an end sadly before I could drive which meant no Autobahn for me as in
2007 my dad was offered another job in Sydney in July 2007 we flew back to the
other side of the world to embark on the next step of our lives.
In September it was time for me to start my new school and try and make some new friends.
I walked into school with a very strong British accent which worked out in my
favour I think, as it made me seem more interesting which helped me to make
friends I was given a buddy to help me, a little girl named Caitlin who helped me
settle in and we quickly became best friends nothing's really changed in our
friendship since then and to this day she is still one of my best friends.
I began to have some tough times over the next few years. I was bullied often and
found it really hard to find a group of people within my class that I enjoyed
being around which led me to becoming quite introverted in class.
I became very isolated compared to my previous self. I often stayed inside on weekends and
spent nearly all my time on the internet playing Club Penguin and watching videos.
This was when I first discovered YouTube properly. By the time I got to Year 5
though, things were looking up and Caitlin convinced me to start dancing at
her local dance school where I met more friends and found myself a hobby that
did not need Wi-Fi. I was put in the composite class in Year 5 which I
hated at first as all of my friends were in the same class making me feel really
left out. I didn't realize at first that I was put there as my previous teachers
noticed I was a very independent worker, which I never knew at the time would become such a great thing.
In Year 6 I found myself with a close group of four but
unfortunately all three of them were heading off to different schools leaving
me on my own. Luckily I knew a lot of people in primary school so I drifted to
them as I prepared for high school
Starting high school in Year seven was
one of the most terrifying and the hardest years of my life. My first day
began with me having a broken foot making it even harder to adapt to this
new environment. Crippled me hobbled along on crutches for the first six
weeks with my giant school bag weighing me down. I found it extremely hard to
make friends within my class and all of a sudden I began feeling very isolated
again. For a whole time I would come home crying about how alone I felt in class
school was hell at this time I hid my emotions from everyone and felt very
anxious and depressed whenever I had to go to school luckily that feeling didn't
last forever as after the first few days back from the school holidays the school
had changed my class and I finally started to settle into school.
One day I decided to audition for my school's production of The Wiz where I was cast
in a supporting acting role. Both school musicals are some of the greatest
memories of my schooling life and helped me find my passion, Musical Theatre.
Before I began my final two years in high school I started to properly try
out a longtime hobby of mine. Inspired mostly by my sister who
vlogged most of our Europe holiday, I decided to give YouTube another try and
created my fourth channel. I've loved creating an editing videos since I was 8
and this time I tried I didn't want to give up and quit although I felt very
awkward filming myself on holiday I finally began filming videos and started
uploading them to my channel. All my bludging and messing around was over
though as it was time for the senior years.
I struggled to begin with as I had
so many things on my plate, taking on eleven dance classes outside of school
whilst needing to do all my schoolwork. Although everyone said I was nuts I
couldn't have imagined my year without all of these classes to keep me busy.
Although in April of 2016 I ignored my schoolwork and upcoming exams to enjoy
what I considered to be the most exciting and fun time of my life, my dance
schools USA trip. Me and my dance family travelled to Universal Studios, Hollywood
and Disneyland where we danced and closed a Disneyland parade.
I have so many amazing memories from the trip and became so close with everyone
it was absolutely incredible. My final year of schooling quickly rolled around
and I needed to start thinking about what I wanted to do with my life I had a
rough idea as since year 10 I knew I wanted to go into the film and
television industry like my dad but had no idea how to do so this was until one
day he told me that I could work for him and hope to create several documentaries
without even going to university if I wanted to. Excited by the fact that I
didn't need to worry about the New South Wales ATAR university entry system I jumped at the chance and said yes!
Year 12 was the best year of school by far despite all the pressure, stress and
exams of being a senior just because of how much fun we had throughout the year.
I went to make the most of it and had so much fun when I look back. I was so lucky
to have an amazing group of friends with me who have come with me on ski trips
camps and performed in musicals and the talent show with me.
I absolutely love you guys.
It wasn't all sunshine and lollipops though as I did change groups
about 14 times throughout high school before getting to this point.
Even though I loved and hated school at the same time. I'm happy that I finished and can't wait
for the future. Now that I'm a legal adult it's time for me to blindly enter
the real world and properly learn life skills and how to survive on my own.
I have no idea what the future holds for me and putting my nerves aside I am
super excited to see what happens and can't wait to show more of my life with
you guys on this channel looking back at my life so far I can't believe the
amount of opportunities I've had in places I've been able to visit in such a
short time. I'm incredibly grateful for everything that's happened these past 18
years and honestly my only regret is that I didn't start and stick to YouTube
until almost two years ago. I wasted so much time planning filming uploading and
thinking of all these ideas but half the time I never ended up doing them my one
piece of advice is that whatever you want to do in life do it now
don't sit and wait for the perfect moment as it may never come in some
situations this is much harder than it sounds but you get what I mean.
But most importantly, have fun.
And I guess this is where it
ends for now at least that was my entire childhood and life so far...

As always, everything has to be a double standard with the American left and its minions.
With Halloween 2017 less than a month away, we are now officially in Offensive Halloween
Costume Season mode.
And what that means is that every few weeks we can expect the internet and social media
to give us yet another offensive Halloween costume to gawk at.
In late September, it was pregnant Kylie Jenner.
Before that, it was sexy fake news and sexy border patrol agents.
But this time our first lady Melania Trump is being used to promote slutty Halloween
costumes.
This costume is not called "Slutty Melania Trump" because that would be a step too
far in the eyes of even the liberals, although they have called her even worse things.
Instead, it's being coined "Model Wife," with the costume itself a very obvious and
close replica of the sky blue cashmere dress and jacket by Ralph Lauren that Melania Trump
wore on Inauguration Day, but with a slutty twist of course.
This is America.
In America, you can do and say what you please.
You can go as far as selling costumes of our leaders.
But here is the problem I have with this costume.
Where was the costume disparaging First Lady Michelle Obama?
There was none because the left would have been yelling bloody racism over it.
It's ok to laugh at an immigrant first lady but not at a black first lady who was never
proud of her country until she saw the opportunity to have endless lavish vacations at the expense
us, the overburdened taxpayers.
The left applauding Michele Obama's so-called fashion sense:
"When Dan Lawson sat down to watch Tuesday night's State of the Union address, he expected
talk of economic policy and unemployment figures.
Instead, he got a big dose of déjà vu.
"I was watching the speech, and when [Michelle Obama] came walking out, my first thought
was, 'Wow, she looks great, she always looks great,' " he says.
"Then I realized, 'Oh, that's a Michael Kors suit.
Wait a minute, I really know that Michael Kors suit.
We used it on the show!' "
Lawson, the longtime costume designer for CBS' hit drama "The Good Wife," had,
in fact, dressed the show's star, Julianna Margulies, in the same tweed Michael Kors
suit jacket for the 100th episode of the show back in December 2013.
"This suit immediately brings the attention to the wearer's face," says Lawson, who
also thought it was a perfect fit for the first lady.
"The suit has one foot in the classic and one foot in the modern, and [Michelle] looked
really great in it."
Twitter quickly picked up on the double take, with side-by-side photos of the first lady
and Margulies' character, lawyer Alicia Florrick, spreading across the Internet.
It was hard not to wonder: Was the first lady really inspired by a popular fictional TV
character?
I think that it does give a sense of familiarity and, consequently, you maybe feel a little
closer to her.
– 'The Good Wife' costume designer Dan Lawson on the benefits of Michelle Obama wearing
an outfit previously seen on his show's character Alicia Florrick (Julianna Margulies)
"That suit's probably been in her closet for quite a while," surmises Britt Aboutaleb,
the managing editor of Yahoo Style.
"I doubt her team even knew that it had been worn on TV, and I'm not sure it's
their responsibility to pay attention to something like that.
They have more important things to worry about."
While Lawson hopes that the first lady and her family tune in to the program, which was
nominated for best TV drama at the Golden Globes earlier this month, he, too, doubts
Michelle knew about the reference.
But he does think the coincidence could be beneficial for both parties.
"I don't think [her duplicating the outfit] makes somebody like her more or less, but
I think that it does give a sense of familiarity and, consequently, you maybe feel a little
closer to her," he explains.
It isn't surprising to see the two women wearing similar ensembles.
Florrick, after all, is a lawyer in Chicago, the city the Obamas previously called home
before moving into the White House.
And don't forget, Michelle was a lawyer herself before quitting her job to assist
her husband on the campaign trail.
"The women are similar in a few ways," Lawson notes.
"They're both very intelligent women and they wear intelligent clothes.
And in a sea of men, they are not afraid to be a little feminine.
We're at a point in our world where you don't have to look masculine and put on
a man's suit to convey power."
According to Lawson, Margulies was also thrilled to see the first lady step out in the Michael
Kors ensemble.
"We both feel honored, and clever that we picked this outfit and then the president's
wife picked it a year later!
We're very excited about that.
[Margulies] was very proud."
This isn't the first time that Lawson has seen his wardrobe choices from the show play
out in real life.
In March 2012, Kate Middleton appeared at a public event in a blue L.K. Bennett suit
— less than two months after Lawson had called one in for Margulies.
The suit made its "Good Wife" debut in Season 4, Episode 2.
But, regardless of whether Michelle was aware of her pop-culture reference, Aboutaleb points

My name is Michael Havbro Faber.
I am a professor of Risk Informed Decision Support for Structures
at the Department of Civil Engineering at Aalborg University.
I did my Ph.D. here at this department.
After the postdoc in Munich I went back to Denmark
and started as an advisor for ELF Aquitaine
and also for MAN Technology in Munich
who were developing the ARIANE V rocket concept.
I later engaged with COWI who were very busy
getting involved in the Øresund connection.
At a time I was invited to Australia - the University of Newcastle -
as a visiting professor for six months.
Then I accepted a job offer in Norway
and spent a year with Veritas in Norway.
During that proces I was encouraged to apply for a professorship in Zürich
where I stayed until 2011. By then DTU needed a new Head of Institute.
I did that for five years. And by then the opportunity arose to apply for
the professorship that I currently hold in Aalborg.
I simply couldn't refuse it.
It is a very young university that is very agile and very hungry.
There are good colleagues and experts in my field as well that I can benefit from.
If I were to give some advice to students it would be that
they should always follow their heart and only do the things they love.
Try not to set up too many barriers for yourself.
Don't be afraid of being measured and compared to others
and simply do what you think is right.

I want to talk about Harvey Weinstein particularly because I know a lot of you
are young actors and you're probably wondering what kind of industry you're going into
before I say anything I want to be a thousand percent clear: Harvey
Weinstein is responsible. Not his victims, not the women he has known casually or
professionally, Harvey Weinstein: the abuser, and perhaps the weinstein company
for protecting him but I keep seeing all of this blame being shifted to the women
in his life and it is so frustrating because as women we have been preparing
to prevent sexual assault our entire lives
we have been told to be careful
what we wear, to walk to our cars with keys in between our knuckles, carry
pepper spray in our purse, go to the bathroom in a group, make sure you always
text someone your location, scream fire instead of help, so you actually get
someone's attention. We've been told everything and the fact is, none of it
can guarantee that we won't be victims ourselves.
and heading into the
entertainment industry it can feel as if this is something that is really an
entertainment industry issue, but it happens everywhere. It's so part of our
culture and it became really apparent to me last year actually when we found out
that our president is no better than Harvey Weinstein. There was a woman on
Twitter who asked people to share their stories of sexual assault in a thread
and I went through it and I was shocked that I kept seeing people say a guy
grabbed my boob or my ass or slapped my ass in a bar
on the subway or in all these public places. I was shocked because that's so
normal. I don't know a single woman who that hasn't happened to I feel like
that's something that has happened multiple times to me at least and I
believe a lot of my friends. It's just so normal and we pass it off as it's just
some jerk in a bar, but it's not normal. It's not okay.
it's just such a part of our culture and we have been so used to it that it feels
as if it's something that we should just get over and it's especially not okay
when it happens in the workplace and
it's hard to speak out. I am so impressed with the women who have actually been
able to share their voice and get past a lot of the shame and a lot of the fear
that happens when you are a victim. I think that these women are incredible
and and men as well a lot of men have been sharing their stories of sexual
assaults in the wake of all of this. I think that we should really celebrate
and support everyone who speaks out. If you have been a victim of assault or
rape I'm gonna share the national sexual assault hotline. You can call them and
speak to someone for free. It's confidential and it's a place where if
you feel that you can't speak to anyone in your life about the assault that has
happened to you, it's a place where you can speak to someone without judgment
and in a safe way, so please if you ever run into this in your careers or in your
life outside of work please know that this is a place that you can call. And I
hope I hope our culture changes and I know that in this industry if you're a
woman going into acting it can feel as if this is something you just have to
prepare for. And I know when I moved to LA I was
getting ready to run into it myself, and thankfully I haven't- knock on wood.
The closest I have had is I've been invited to an audition that was not in a
safe place. I didn't realize until I got there that it was actually an apartment
complex, even though on Google Maps- always google map the location of your
audition, especially fear going through actors access or a service that allows
you to submit yourself- on Google Maps it looked as if it was office building. I
didn't realize until I got there that it was actually an apartment complex and I
didn't go in but I can see that other women may have and may have thought it's
okay or may have brushed it off as "I haven't gotten an audition in a long
time" and may just not have known. It's, you know, there's a million reasons why these
things can happen and it's not that I was especially smart in that situation, I
was just lucky, so just do your best. I know. It's something that we shouldn't
have to deal with and it is a thousand percent the perpetrators fault and their
responsibility but I know that I don't know I just I have no words you guys. I
want to say intelligent things but I feel that my words escape me when this
stuff happens so I just wanted to share that number and make sure you know that
you're supported at least by me if you want to speak out
