Why Don't Snakes and Many Other Animals Get Sunburned? - Duration: 3:36.
Without a protective coating of feathers, fur or scales, pretty much any animal with
exposed skin can get a sunburn; luckily, most animals have adapted methods of avoiding the
sun and mitigating the damage.
Farmers have long known that naked animals, like freshly shorn sheep and domesticated
pigs (who've had their thick coating of back hair bred out of them), can get a sunburn.
In fact, although uncommon, even light-furred and hairless dogs and cats have been known
to burn.
Likewise, naturalists have observed burns from ultraviolet radiation on elephants and
rhinoceroses, and in fact, even whales, fish, amphibians and dolphins occasionally get a
burn from the sun.
In research published in the Proceedings of the Royal Society in 2010, scientists reported
that certain whale species, notably the relatively light-skinned blue whale, not only would suffer
from sunburn, but that the rate of sunburn in the marine mammals was increasing over
time.
The researchers theorized that ozone layer loss and thinning cloud cover could potentially
be to blame for the increase.
Those same scientists also found that, even though sperm whales spend significantly more
time on the surface in between dives (7 to 10 minutes) when compared with blue whales
(about 2 minutes), the darker sperm whales were far less likely to suffer from sunburn.
Further research also revealed that the sperm whales' skin has a protective protein that
inhibits UV cellular damage.
Notably, although the blue whales' incidences of sunburns were increasing, the scientists
did find evidence that the species is able to tan, so sun exposure did not always result
in such damage.
Likewise, many land animals have also adapted methods of protection from the sun.
For example, pigs and rhinoceroses wallow in mud, as do elephants who are also known
to seek out shade, toss dirt and sand on their backs and create protective shadows for their
little ones.
Hippos secrete an oily, pinkish-red liquid, particularly around their ears and faces (the
only parts typically above the water's surface for any length of time) that absorbs ultraviolet
light and also is, apparently, naturally antibiotic.
As for snakes and other reptiles that at times bask in the sun, their inner epidermis is
protected from UV rays via their scales, which also function to help retain moisture underneath,
among other things.
For these animals, they would typically die from overheating before any threat of sunburn
became a problem.
A review published in JAMA Dermatology in January of 2014 showed that exposure to the
UV wavelengths associated with indoor tanning beds account for nearly twice as many skin
cancer diagnosis as smoking does lung cancer in the United States- about 400,000 annually
for tanning beds, compared to 200,000 from smoking.
Further, even just one tanning bed session increases your risk of getting melanoma- the
deadliest form of skin cancer- by 75%.
This is why the American Medical Association, the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American
Academy of Dermatology, the Skin Cancer Foundation, and the World Health Organization have all
called on every state to ban children under 18 from using tanning salons.

Young Talents: Gabriel Pires, CD Leganes - Duration: 1:37.
CD Leganes' surprising early form has a lot to do with the contribution of a young Brazilian
who provides a bit of magic to the side.
A dream of playing top level football took Gabriel Pires from his native Resende to Turin,
when he was signed by Juventus.
After playing in Italy's Serie B, he was loaned by 'The Old Lady' to Leganes.
In his first season in Spain, Pires played 37 games in LaLiga 1|2|3, 35 of which he started.
His 7 goals helped Los Pepineros to their first ever promotion to the top flight.
Pires was one of the breakthrough players in his first season in LaLiga.
Essential for coach Asier Garitano, he was the Leganes player with the most minutes to his name,
and scored 5 goals as the club achieved First Division survival.
Although he has just turned 24, Gabriel Pires is already one of Leganes' captains,
and has a contract through to 2021.
The Brazilian midfielder has a bright future ahead of him, and the fans at Butarque are right behind him.

The Interview: Raul Garcia, Athletic Club player - Duration: 7:03.
"I don't think about it. I think that if I stop to think about everything that has happened,
about all the games, I've played, then maybe it would worry me a little."
"The only thing that really worries me is trying to do more, trying to keep increasing those numbers,
but without the objective of a specific number in mind. Tomorrow I'll see how far I've come."
"At the moment, I will continue working so that this continues to increase."
"I don't think it's a negative thing when people talk about you as a leader or a person who helps out."
"On the contrary, it's a goal that I have always had. It's something that I've been concerned about since I started out until now."
"The only thing I am clear about is that I try to be professional and I try to do things to the best of my ability, always."
"Sometimes it works out better and sometimes worse, but it's the goal I have."
"It may seem strange, but I consider myself to be just like any other person, like someone who doesn't play football."
"I enjoy the same things that anyone else enjoys: taking a walk with the family, being at home with friends..."
"I believe that, in that sense, I haven't changed at all because of being a footballer."
"It's a bit of a shame for me to be seen in a different way because, simply, what I'm trying to do is,
as one coach used to say, 'give normality to the abnormal' within the world of football. That's my way of life."
"Everyone adapts as best they can, because there are things you cannot change. But it is true that I'm a little different."
"I like tranquility, I like to do my job and I try to go unnoticed."
"I know what I am. From the beginning I have always given all that I have."
"Obviously, if you don't have that something extra, you can't be competing as I think I've been doing so far."
"But I'm very clear about what I have and what I am and, going from there, I know that I will continue to do important things."
"Unfortunately, a lot of time in the world of football we get distracted. We don't value what really matters."
"Yes, it's true that football invokes a lot of passion. For me, it is my job and, logically, I wouldn't change it for
anything because I am very happy with what I have. But I know what I want and what I don't want in my life."
"In the end, that's also applicable to everything in a way. Not only in football, but also in everyday life."
"Everyone has their values and handles their situation based a little on that."
"We know the philosophy of the club, and that's why it's such a special club. But we don't give it any more importance than that."
"We know that all teams strengthen their squads. We try to be a strong group, which we are, and that's enough for us."
"It's an advantage we have, in that sense, with respect to other clubs. I think it's noticeable that the young players
who go up to the first team, in addition to having already trained with us at other times, know where
they come from. They know what they are going to find, they know they are going to have some teammates
who will help them and, above all, they know what the coach will ask of them."
"So, in that sense, I think we have an advantage, and that is showing through."
"It's hard to explain to people who are not in our situation. There are many things that are difficult."
"All changes are difficult. Not because the coach is better or worse, but because, in the end, they are changes."
"As in anybody's life, you have to try to adapt. You have to try to understand what is being
transmitted to you in certain situations and carry it out. That takes time, and in football time does not exist."
"There are tricky situations, but change exists and you must adapt to it as quickly as possible."
"On the one hand it is good that people get concerned, because that means that the team have done things very well for a long time."
"We are the first to acknowledge that things have not gone as we have wanted, but every day we work so that in the game,
which is the real test, things go well. Logically, when results don't come, my teammates and I are the most affected and
suffer the most, but we don't look back. You have to progress, you have to try to get a little better every day to
perform at the level you want to be at, and everything comes from there."
"I don't think there should be deadlines. The most important thing is that Yeray has recovered and managed to beat his cancer."
"Now he will need enough time to get back on the pitch."
"Everyone around him knows that he" is raring to get back and compete."
"The most important thing is that he has recovered."

September 2017 Wrap Up! [CC] - Duration: 5:58.
Hey everyone my name is Kylie and today I am finally bringing you my September
wrap-up of 2017. Oh my goodness, so many fun things happened in September, the
biggest of which is that I got married! So I am now a Mrs. Kylie, I am now
I'm Mrs. Kylie Reads, which is crazy. I didn't think I was going to finish
anything in September and I actually ended up finishing three things which is
pretty exciting. Two of them are like novellas and one is a novel which I
listened to as an audiobook. Let me just check Goodreads for a second to make
sure that that's right because I honestly didn't write anything down for
what I finished. Okay yes, just those three things. I finished Every
Heart a Doorway by Seanan McGuire and everybody and their mothers and their
brothers and their cousins and their dogs love this book here on YouTube for
good reason. I can see why people love it. This has such an interesting premise
which is why I originally wanted to read it way back when. So the premise of this
is that children go through their doors into Wonderland or Narnia and then they
come back after their worlds kick them out and they have to cope with this as
they are trying to get back to their worlds because their worlds were made
for them and the real world, they just don't fit in like they should. So in
Every Heart a Doorway there is a school for these children that have come back
and are trying to cope with life. I think I ended up giving it a 4 stars because you
know when you write a story when you're a little kid and you're like, "Oh yeah,
this needs to happen next," so you completely and utterly change the
subject, completely go in a different direction with no kind of transition
period, nothing, no scene change. Just "Hey let's talk about this thing because this
thing needs to be talked about." It is such a short novella that I can see
where that could be an issue but I still thoroughly enjoyed it. There is a lot of
representation in this, an asexual character stated on the page and a
transgender character in here in this short little thing. There's also a murder
mystery in here which was interesting. I think because of all the representation
and just because of the premise I enjoyed it thoroughly so I couldn't wait
to continue on. So I continued on and I finished Down Among the Sticks and
Bones by Seanan McGuire and I think I ended up giving this either a 5 stars
or 4.5 stars because I liked it a lot more than Every Heart a Doorway.
I just think the pacing and the tone of this one was so much better than Every
Heart a Doorway. I don't think those weird shifts in conversation happened
like they did in the first one. This novella follows two characters that we
met in Every Heart a Doorway, Jaclyn and Jill, as they go to their world
so we are not seeing them cope in their world at this school, we are actually
seeing them live their lives in this world and I loved it. The tone was great.
I think it's great for fall and October. I think the setting is just so wonderful
and even though it is so short I feel like this packed much more of a punch
than Every Heart a Doorway did but anyways, this is fantastic. I am tempted
to tell you guys that you don't even need to read Every Heart a Doorway to
read this and I think that's accurate. I think you would enjoy this 100% without
the background knowledge that you get in Every Heart a Doorway but obviously
they are companions, they are part of the same series so it is preferable for you
to read this one first but man, this one...yes. I also finished an audiobook of the
Emperor's Blades by Brian Staveley. This is the first book in the Chronicle of the
Unhewn Throne trilogy and I loved it. I haven't been this invested in a fantasy
world in a long time. I am currently almost done with the third book which
you'll see in my next wrap-up but anyways this is great. This follows the
three children, the three "blades" of the emperor in this world because the
Emperor is assassinated so these kids are clear in the corners of this kingdom.
They are in grave peril. We follow the different rotating perspectives of these
children and it's great. My favorite perspective was Valyn who is training
to become a Kettral which is the best like military branch in this world. They
fly on these ginormous birds called the kettral and they're just kick-ass. We also
follow Kaden who is at this monastery, who is training to become a monk. We also
follow the daughter Adare who is stuck in the
capital of Annur, where her father was so she's the one who's kind of at the heart
of the action but I didn't care about her at all. Maybe it's because we only
got four or five chapters in this entire book about her but I thoroughly enjoyed
Valyn's perspective. I think that's the only thing I like about this series, is
the Kettral because that's the only thing that I'm really invested in. I
don't care really about the main storyline, I just want more action with
the Kettral because I love them. I think I ended up giving this one a 4 stars
or a 4.5. I think I listened to the last half of this book within 24
hours because I just couldn't get enough of it. I needed to know what happened and
then I immediately started the second one and then I immediately started the
third one, it's just a downhill spiral. But I'm so glad that I could be invested
in something like this book, like..like this series. I'm just glad I can be
invested in a fantasy world again. Those are the three books that I finished for
September. I'm not really gonna tell you what I'm going to read for October
because really there's only like ten days left in October. So thumbs up for
getting your wrap-up up late, Kylie. But hey, I was doing some other things. I had
some other priorities, it's okay. Leave a comment down below telling me what your
favorite book was that you read in September or what your favorite thing
was that you did in September. I don't know like get married. Give this video a
big thumbs up if you enjoyed it and I will talk to you guys next time, goodbye!

School Suspends 9-Yr-Old After She Shaves Head For Friend With Cancer
There is not much I wouldn't do for my best friend.
If she was stuck in a rainstorm, I would swim to her rescue.
If she ruined her shoes, I would give her mine and go barefoot.
Different seasons in our lives require a little more out of us in our relationships than others.
Depending on your loyalty to whoever is in your life, you'll be willing to take whatever
step is needed to help them.
For 9-year-old Kamryn in Colorado, sacrifice and devotion are two things she has decided
in her heart to live out early on!
Kamryn's friend Delaney was diagnosed with cancer and has been undergoing chemotherapy
treatments that have resulted in total hair loss.
One day after school, a brave and committed Kamryn went home and shaved her head, her
way of showing Delaney that she did not have to go through this tough time alone.
People's hearts were touched by Kamryn's courageous and thoughtful gesture, but unfortunately,
her school was not.
The school the girls attend has a strict dress code, one of their policies being that students
are not allowed to have shaved heads.
When Kamryn came to school hairless, the school suspended her for her noncompliance and told
her not to come back until she had hair.
While I am no supporter of insubordination or deliberate misbehavior, I do feel the school
should have been a bit more lenient when looking at the situation before implementing the rather
harsh punishment.
Thankfully, after receiving backlash from the community and thousands on social media,
the school renounced Kamryn's suspension and allowed her back in the classroom.
We are super proud of Kamryn and inspired by her fidelity to her friend.
Her compassionate and bold heart is so evident.
She and Delaney are truly blessed to have each other.

Starting Antidepressants? I Have Something to Tell You - Duration: 2:37.
Hi. I'm Veronica.
Being on antidepressants sucks
but I'm so thankful for antidepressants because they've enabled me to live
and to stand here and speak to you.
When I was first prescribed, I was totally resistant.
And part of that was I was in denial about being depressed in the first place.
And the other part was that I was scared.
I didn't know what to expect
and I had only heard very negative things
about being on this type of prescription medication.
So I'd like to share with you a few things that I wish I knew.
Number 1: I'm gonna be honest, there might be side effects.
At the beginning, you might have headaches. You might feel nauseous.
But those side effects usually pass after a couple weeks.
And the ability to live your life is priceless.
The ability to be happy is invaluable.
Number 2: They're not totally magic.
You know, they don't always... They don't necessarily work immediately.
Antidepressants do take at least 4-6 weeks to see an effect.
And, even then, you still have to put some effort in.
They give you a baseline with which to live your life but you still have to go to therapy.
You still have to eat well.
You still have to do yoga, do your meditation.
Whatever it is for you that completes the full round of your self-care routine.
And number 3 is: You might have to try a few medications to find the right one.
And this is the most frustrating of all because you want to get help.
You found the doctor. They prescribed you one.
You've gone to the pharmacist. They've given you the meds.
You've gone through so much. And this thing doesn't work?!
But I promise you, once you find the right medication that works for you,
it can make a whirlwind of difference in your mind, in your life.
And being able to face your thoughts and to just live is, is amazing.

How Long Does It Take to Lose Weight?
Every day we all come across numerous of television commercials and magazine ads endorsing overnight
weight loss?
But, do you really think that shedding those extra pounds is something that can be achieved
overnight?
As per the recent research, it has been revealed that a steady weight loss of 1 to 2 pounds
per week is the best possible approach to keep it away from coming back.
However, the time duration to lose weight completely depends on how much you want to
shed overall but don't be stunned if it takes longer than you anticipated.
What Is It All Takes?
Weight loss is all about consuming all the calories that you are taking in.
For instance, if you want to lose 1 pound in a week then you must reduce 3,500 calories
either by reducing calorie intake and increasing your physical activity or a mix of both.
By cutting down 500 calories from each day will result in 1 pound of weight loss in a
week or 1,000 calories to reduce 2 pounds of weight.
Consequently, if you wish to lose 10 pounds then you can accomplish your goal in about
5 to 10 weeks.
Stages of Weight Loss If supposedly you are following the CDC-ratified
approach to cut down 500 calories a day, but don't be stunned if your weight loss is
unstable.
As per the estimates, when you are following a specific diet chances are you will lose
weight quickly in the first month or two because you're dropping water weight instead of
fat.
With time, you will experience stagnancy in weight loss, which can be annoying — and
might push you to get back to old habits.
In such circumstances, you should boost your workout regime simply by doing 60 minutes
cardio 5 days a week and 2 days strength-training exercise.
Be Easy-going No doubt it becomes quite infuriating when
you work hard on your diet and exercise without seeing substantial results, but you need to
be persevering.
It can take around 6 months to a year to have completely transformed outlook.
During this time you need to focus mainly on your diet and strength-training program
which can help you achieve your goals.
Improve Weight Loss Regime Are you working out for a few weeks and don't
find any change in the weight?
In case, you aren't able to feel the difference in clothes fitting (which actually indicates
the inches you have lost so far), then you need to pay heed to your actions.
Many fitness gurus say that standard weight-loss come by doing low-intensity cardio and eating
too much — or too few — calories per day.
To fight the latter, you need to keep a tab on how much you consume per day, thereby ensuring
the amount your body actually needs to lose weight yet stay hale and hearty.
If you're working out, you need to try out something new to wonder your muscles, be it
by adding another strength day or swapping from the elliptical to the treadmill.

Rapper Swings / Why do you need reasons for your confidence? - Duration: 2:14.
I roughly know what the media says about me
but I don't really care.
The camera over there is filming me right now,
and the edited video will be uploaded later.
But I am not afraid anymore.
Because I love myself.
My name is Swings,
and I am pretty sure that
everyone here
knows me
and there must be
someone who hates me and someone who likes me.
Whether you listen to what I am saying right now
is totally up to you.
You don't have to listen.
I just wanted to talk to you all.
There is a reason why many people are afraid of
talking about their dreams.
Someone could say
'Bullshit, you wanna do that?'
and they don't want to hear it.
'Why can't we get away from those thoughts?'
We need to think about this seriously.
There is a saying that
'If others are not laughing at you'
'your dream is not big enough.'
The reason I am saying this is
why you need to have confidence.
I immigrated to America
when I was 6 months old,
and when I first came to Korea,
I couldn't speak Korean at all.
When I was in third grade,
the teacher once called me out to the front
and made me read books in front of my friends.
I used to be made fun of many times.
But now I am standing here comfortably
talking to you all.
We can't help hearing negative things about us in our life,
can we?
So, I think the idea of 'self-talk'
is very important.
Whenever you are in a slump or things don't go well,
keep telling yourself
'You can do it.' 'You are the best.'
The word I used to hear a lot was
'Why are you so confident in yourself?'
There is a word 'COON'.
'Confidence out of nowhere'
Then, what is 'confidence'?
'Belief in myself'
Why do I need reasons to believe in myself?
I roughly know what the media
says about me,
but I don't care anymore. I am not afraid anymore.
If I trusted everything the media said,
would I be standing here right now?
Never.
Am I living by the standard of beauty that they decided?
No.
Am I from a renowned family?
No.
My father used to be a sanitary worker in America,
and my mother used to work at a laundry shop.
They are the ones I am most proud of in the world.
"How are you going to make a living?"
"I am going to be the biggest name in Korean hip-hop scene."
That became my dream.
Why can't you?
You can.
The word 'just' is so cool.
Believe in yourself without reasons.
You make your own rights
by yourself.
How?
'JUST'

How to Pray For Your Child - Duration: 2:40.
hey guys! Shawn here. If you are new, welcome to prayerlights. This channel is
all about mommy lifestyle Christian vlogs to help you raise a Jesus loving
child. My newborn is in the crib behind me so if you hear any funny
grunting noises or coos, that's just my girl. Today's video is on
how to pray for your child. So if you are looking for scriptures or ways to pray
for your child, then keep watching. My three tips for you today are to: pray
every day, pray specifically, and pray with Scripture. If you follow these three
ways, these are great ways for how to pray for your child.
Pray for your child every day and you will see the positive changes in your
child's life and the ways that God moves in your child's life. Find a place
that comes naturally to you whether that's in your car as you're dropping
off your kids for school, or at the end of the day as you're going to bed, or
with your morning devotion. Find a way to pray for your children every day.
Be specific in your prayers. Pray for specific things: for your child's safety,
if they need healing because they're sick, if they're
struggling at school, if they have an issue or something that they have come
with you... come to you about. Your older children may ask you to pray for
specific things. Or, like my newborn, I'm just praying for her health, and for her
safety, and for her to be well, and to stop spitting up on me all the time. But
pray for your child's future. Those kinds of things but be very specific in how
you pray. Pray with Scripture. Use actual scriptures to pray for your child.
My favorite one is Jeremiah 29:11 because many of the adults in my life
prayed this scripture over me as I was growing up. It says: "for I know the
plans that I have for you, plans of good and not for evil." And that's Jeremiah
29:11. I will list a couple of scriptures down below that other people
have recommended to me that they pray over their child but pick one that has
meaning for you and has something that you want for your child.
So, pray every day, pray specifically, and pray with Scripture for your child. If
you are looking for some ideas on creative ways to pray then check out my
creative prayer playlist which I will link down in the description box below.
Thanks so much for watching this video. If you are new please consider
subscribing. I post new videos every week and I will see you in my next video.
Thanks for watching. Bye!
