Empathy and compassion are very important to me.

Empathy is very interesting but I consider it comes from a very rational point of view.

Empathy is when therapist tries to connect with his patient in an intellectual way.

For me, compassion is wider than empathy.

Obviously, I'm not talking about compassion from a catholic point of view (shame, sorrow).

I'm talking about compassion from an oriental philosophical point of view,

as desire of liberation of human beings.

We (therapists) can have a very compassive heart in our subject area.

From compassion, we don't look our patient from a higher level; we hold his hand. Obviously, it is not the same.

In my opinion, the first step is giving them a lot of information.

Also trying to stabilize them and promoving confidence, so they can understand it.

It's always hard when we want to have children and we can't achieve it over the years.

Here are two important topics that I consider important as a therapist.

The first one is: all of the patient's experiences of feeling herself weak.

The other one is: being impatient or being in a hurry; an important area that we (the therapists) must approach.

We must take a closer look to this area, even the patient's childhood.

For example, evaluating the quality of the relationship between the patient and her most important attachment person.

How this person managed impatience and hurry.

Asking our patient directly, for example, if she could have had breakfast normally, calmly, before going to school.

Or if she had to hurry taking her breakfast quickly in her car on her way to school.

By this questions, we'll be able to know better how her mum was; possibly an impatient person.

As the NFL national anthem protests drag on into week 7 of the season, more fans have

decided to boycott, and it isn't hard to understand why either.

The game of football or any other sport is a time for fans to relax and to forget about

all stresses in their lives including politics.

However, social justice warriors within the NFL had chosen to use their platform to lecture

Americans on how racist they are and criticize law enforcement.

No matter how much the public decries their demonstration rooted in racism, they continue

to kneel during the anthem or in some cases, raise a militant black power fist in the air.

Many NFL coaches and team owners have turned a blind eye to the destruction this protest

has caused, but not all team owners.

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is opening up about what is happening within the NFL

and executives are livid after he let this secret slip out.

It is no secret that Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has been an outspoken critic of

the NFL national anthem protests.

Just a few weeks ago, Jones stated that the "national anthem" was the wrong time to

stage a protest, and the majority of Americans agree wholeheartedly with that statement.

Though instead of the league listening to their fans or even Jones' sound words of

wisdom, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell and other team owners allow these ungrateful players

to spit in the face of our veterans and country week after week.

Now, Jones is telling the ugly truth of how these protests are damaging the NFL's image,

and if they continue, it is entirely possible they may not be able to recover from it.

As the National Football League's 2017 Week 7 wound down, Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones

spoke about the anthem protests which have spread throughout the league.

Jones says that the league is suffering "negative" consequences over the continuing protests.

"There is no question," Jones told The Dallas Morning News on Sunday.

"There is no question the league is suffering negative effects from these protests:"

Jones has spoken out several times this season about the continued protests, and it is clear

he is no fan.

At the end of September, Jones said that he thinks the national anthem is not the right

time to mount protests against the country.

"I do not think the place to express yourself in society is as we recognize the American

flag and all the people that have made this great country," Jones said in an interview

with Fox Business Network.

"That's not the place to do anything other than honor the flag and everybody that's

given up a little for it," he added.

By October, Jones was incensed enough with the anthem protests that he exclaimed that

his team would stand for the anthem or they would not play.

It was a statement that drew much criticism by the players union and several civil rights

groups.

Indeed, the NAACP accused Jones of attempting to violate his players' rights.

Despite Jones' proclamations, though, on Sunday Cowboys defensive end David Irving

raised the militant black power fist during the anthem at Sunday's game against the

San Francisco 49ers.

Thus far it doesn't appear that Irving has suffered any consequences at the hands of

the team's owner.

For their part, four 49ers took a knee during the nation's song.

While leftists argue that these players have rights to protest, they forget one small detail

in that argument.

The players have a right to protest peacefully, but when it is on their own free time and

not company time.

When an NFL player slips on their team uniform for whatever team they play for they are now

a representative for the team and their fans.

If the team owners were to add into their contracts that they were to stand for the

national anthem and they sign it and then refuse to stand, well, then they are in breach

of contract.

None of these players are being forced to play for anyone of these owners, and if they

don't like their rules then go elsewhere for work.

It would be prudent to the team owners and NFL executives to start erecting boundaries

with these overpaid athletes before they sink the NFL for good,

The ONE Thing That Will Determine 95% Of Your Weight Loss Success - Duration: 4:46.

will determine 95% of your weight loss success.

And I can guarantee you, it's not what you think it is.

You see, now that I'm a 46-year-old grandpa,

to 4 beautiful grandkids, the 1 thing

I will continue to do as a parent and a grandparent

is influence who my children and grandchildren spend

their time with.

And the reason is simple, birds of a feather flock

together, and there's research showing this.

Dr. David McClelland, a Harvard psychologist,

calls this your reference group.

And he says it will determine about 95% of success

in any area of your life.

And one of my late great mentors, Jim Rowan,

said it best when he coined, you become the combined average

of the five people that you spend the most time with.

Now, I personally experienced this phenomenon

when I was only 28 years old.

I was hanging around shady people.

I was boozing it up, I was pulling all-nighters,

And as a result, I had no goals or direction in my life.

But I was motivated by a custody battle

over my 6-year-old daughter at the time,

so I decided to take a leap and enter the Body For Life

physique transformation contest, and it

forced me to surround myself with like-minded,

successful, and healthy people.

Just 90 days later, I was first runner up Grand champion

out of over 22,000 contestants.

I had mended broken relationships.

I had paid off all my debt.

I was actively a part of my daughter's life, had

joint legal custody of my daughter

for the first time in my life.

A complete transformation from the inside

out for 2 simple reasons.

1, making a commitment to a healthy lifestyle, and 2,

surrounding myself with the right people.

And here's a great example.

Say you're at a restaurant, and the waiter brings

over the dessert menu and everyone's decides to pass.

Well, I can guarantee you you'll most likely pass as well, even

though you were craving that piece of cheesecake.

Why did you skip the dessert?

Because, you were hanging out with people

who obviously cared more about their health

than a piece of dessert.

Conversely, if they all picked out and ordered

their favorite dessert, you'd most likely

cave in and join them, and this is just

a small sample of the power going out of your way

to surround yourself with positive people who

are more disciplined, successful, and more healthy

than you are.

See, their strengths will automatically rub off on you.

The bottom line is this, you become who you hang out

with most of the time.

If you hang out at a bar, you're most likely to eventually

become a drunk.

If you're hanging out with lazy, unmotivated people,

you most likely follow suit.

The people that you hang around will determine the environments

where you spend your time, and this will ultimately control

your outcomes and your destiny.

Now listen, I'm not saying you should

ditch all your family and friends if they're

dysfunctional, abusive, or have a bad influence in your life.

I believe we should all make our best effort

to have unconditional acceptance of everybody

regardless of his or her shortcomings

since we all have them.

And besides, every time you point the finger,

remember you have three pointing back at you.

But, it is still in your best interest to do everything

you can to spend time with quality people who

support your goals and have a positive influence

in your life.

It really is the 1 thing that can

determine 95% of your success.

Remember, there are 2 types of people in this world,

those who brighten a room when they enter it,

and those who brighten the room when they leave it.

So 1 of the best things you can do

is take an inventory of the 5 people

that you hang with the most.

Write it down and analyze that list.

Remember, we all rise or fall to the level of who

or what we follow.

CHAPTER - 10 SHIFT TO MADRAS

The teachers at the night school changed year by year.

Mir fee they charged rose to a rupee and a half.

I picked up English, Tamil and Arithmetic.

My teacher declared that the standard I had reached in my studies was the equivalent of

form Four (Standard IX).

I was now eighteen.

I felt the urge to quit handloom weaving, and secure some other kind of job.

I spoke about this to Karpakam, my eldest sister.

Her husband Shanmuga Mudaliar, was a practioner of Siddha Medicine.

They lived in Madras City.

They took me with them to Madras, and asked the people they knew to get me any kind of

employment they could.

I refer to these happenings in the following lines: Any man who pauses to reflect On joy

ignorance of these I too attempted to be freed.

These questions once did, day and night, Bewilder One.

A hovel was my dwelling; scanty too, my food.

I hoarded that small amount.

My tears were dried, However had such work As promised betterment, that I never did shirk.

I stayed in my sister's house.

My brother in law tried hard to find a job for me.

In those days there were clubs in all cities where they arranged to take bets on horse

races.

Hundreds of these were to be found in Madras alone.

The job I got after about a month was at one of these, the Royal Racing Club, on Mount

Road.

I was paid fifty rupees a month.

There were races twice a week,on Wednesdays and Saturdays . I had to be at the Club between

three and seven in the evening of the day previous to the race.

On the day of the race, the hours were from eight in the morning to two in the afternoon.

On the day following, I had work from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

On working days I was paid a refreshment allowance of one rupee for every half day of work, and

a rupee and a half for a whole day.

I thus cleared not less than Rs.75 a month.For the level of education I had, this was a piece

of good luck.

I gave ten rupees to my parents, subscribed ten rupees to a chit fund, and handed over

the balance to my brother in law.

#HenrysSpotlight: Trish Young – Shooting Movies with the Canon 5D MKIII - Duration: 2:04.

Hey, I'm Trish Young and I'm a cinematographer.

My favourite genre to shoot is either romance or sci-fi. Sci-fi because, I mean, there's so many different dynamics to go from.

You can make anything out of sci-fi that you want to and also, you're allowed to play around with really, really cool colour.

When I had the opportunity to go to Africa, I knew that this was going to be a life-changing experience for me.

So, to see the amount of orange and yellow tones that Africa had introduced me to was honestly surreal.

Incorporating those together is kind of a fun idea because you're trying to create a futuristic world while also adding in the fact,

that you got to work with the nature you have in today's world.

When I think about colours and how to choose them, in terms of what film I'm shooting, I always look to what genre it is.

My movie 'Dread', it was a very dark story. So I wanted to focus more on cooler tones. We were shooting in the winter as well

so that actually helped me play a role in creating that moody atmosphere.

I have a Canon 5D Mark III. I've had it for about two years now. I chose to go with Canon because I think it's super accessible.

This is a great way for me to capture some videos that will look beautiful while also using lighter equipment for myself.

The reason why I do so much hand-held/POV shots is because you want to feel like you're living that characters' moment.

And that's exactly what I wanted to achieve in 'Dread'.

I actually was told by my professors that they wanted to submit my film in to the Canadian Society of Cinematographers.

So I went to the awards. When I heard that I was the top three finalists, I was ecstatic. And by winning this award,

that was the most exciting news I've gotten in so long. And so, it definitely helped me and it kind of pushed started my career

into more cinematography and DP-ing films. I've learned is that you can't give up on yourself. You have to keep working towards things.

People will really remember you if you really work hard and that will take you places in your life.
