Former Senator Elbert Guillory RIPS Apart Obama In Epic Fashion!!! - Duration: 2:03.
Former Senator Elbert Guillory RIPS Apart Obama In Epic Fashion
a former Democrat senator dropped a truth bomb about former President
Barrack Obama that might be hard for the former president to take in an interview
on Mama Grizzly radio former Louisiana State Senator Albert Guillory didn't
mince words when asked about how he felt about the former president the best
friend I believe that the black community has ever had in the White
House was a fellow named Richard Nixon a Republican
Guillory said Guillory pointed out that Nixon had created more black
millionaires and helped more blacks get a higher education than at any other
time in American history if a bomber could shine Richard Nixon's susi would
be doing well Guillory said he did not the former senator also criticized Obama
for driving the country close to bankruptcy he also pointed out that on
Obama's watch the Islamic state terror group was allowed to grow and flourish
he was an atrocious disaster for America Guillory said Guillory has been a
Republican for most of his life but did switch parties for several years after
graduating from Norfolk University in Virginia he went to work in the Nixon
administration as a civil rights attorney he became a Democrat in 2007 to
run for office in a heavily Democratic district in 2013 he switched back to the
Republican Party in a video titled why I'm a Republican the former senator
explains how Democrats believe in a big and powerful government not because it
helps others but because it gives them control which is all they ever want he's
right about that and he's also right about a bomber who
may have been the worst thing happened to the United States

Dambazau lied against me, I didn't reinstate Maina - Head of Service cries out - Duration: 3:57.
Dambazau lied against me, I didn't reinstate Maina - Head of Service cries out
The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Winifred Oyo-Ita, on Monday, October 23 said there was no truth in the reports that she approved the reinstatement of a former Chairman of the Presidential Task Force on Pension Reforms, Abdulrasheed Maina, and his subsequent posting to the Ministry of Interior.
Punch reports that in a statement by her assistant director, media relations, Mohammed Manga, the HoS insisted that Maina's reinstatement and posting did not emanate from her office. NAIJ.
com gathered that the three-paragraph statement read, "The attention of the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation has been drawn to several media reports that the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation has approved the reinstatement into the Federal Civil Service of Alhaji Abdulrasheed Abdullahi Maina and his subsequent posting to the ministry of interior.
"The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation wishes to inform the public that the reinstatement and posting of Alhaji Abdulrasheed Abdullahi Maina never emanated from the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation.
"Consequently, the purported reinstatement and posting by the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation is totally erroneous and misleading.
Oyo-Ita's claim contradicts the position of the Minister of Interior, Lt.-Gen. Abdulrahman Dambazau (retd.), who had earlier absolved himself from complicity in the matter.
Dambazau had said Maina, who was declared wanted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), was posted to his ministry by the Head of Service a few days ago.
The minister, in a statement signed by his press secretary, Ehisienmen Osaigbovo, in Abuja on Sunday, October 22, said Maina was deployed to the interior ministry in an acting capacity following the retirement of the director in charge of the human resources department.
The statement read, "The ex-chairman of the Presidential Task Force Team on Pension Reforms, Abdulrasheed Maina, was posted a few days ago to the Ministry of Interior by the Office of the Head of Service in an acting capacity to fill a vacancy following the retirement of the director heading the human resources department in the ministry.
It added, "For the avoidance of doubt, issues relating to discipline, employment, re-engagement, posting, promotion and retirement of federal civil servants are the responsibility of the Federal Civil Service Commission and the office of the Head of Service of the Federation, of which no minister exercises such powers as erroneously expressed.
The minister said that Maina was probably posted to the interior ministry because that was his last posting before he was declared wanted by the anti-graft commission for the multi-billion naira pension fund scam.
Meanwhile, NAIJ.com had previously reported that President Buhari ordered the immediate disengagement of Abdulrasheed Maina from service. The president's spokesman, Femi Adesina, said that President Buhari has asked for a full report on circumstances surrounding Maina's recall.

"Welcome to Tattooed Sailor!" Why this cafe gave Adam his first big break - Duration: 2:22.
Everyone deserves a fair crack, it's an equal human right that everyone has good employment.
When first we started the business we knew we wanted to bring on people with disabilities,
support them, give them equal employment, and encourage other businesses to do the same thing.
Bringing Adam on board was a no brainer really.
I got to know Adam before we brought him on. I found out he's got a passion for coffee
and is really good at numbers and he does all our weigh-outs for us
so we always know we're going to have perfect grams going into our roaster.
It was just really simple to bring him on and his mum was really worried
that he would never get a good job, and we just wanted to ensure that that happened.
I started working at Tattooed Sailor since March this year.
This is my first job. I really like working here because I get to learn new skills and meet new customers.
My favourite part working at Tattooed Sailor is working together as a team, yeah.
Ian: We've got some Sailors that come in and one of their brothers has got an intellectual disability as well
and he comes in now and he and Adam have a good old chat
and they pull the mickey out of each other and it's a really nice thing to see.
Adam: I never meet new people before but I always talk to them in a nice, friendly voice,
"Hi welcome to Tattooed Sailor, how can we help you?"
I've made new friends since I started work at Tattooed Sailor,
new friends like Daniel, Jennifer, Oliver and Ian.
Ian: If everyone gave someone ago there's support there to give them that chance,
and it's nothing to be fearful of. So when Adam came here the EPIC guys
came in and supported him if he needed it and were there just to ensure he was comfortable.
I just want to see everyone given the chance, other businesses creating opportunities,
because with opportunity comes growth. Let's face it Adams a gun worker and he is solid.
He never has time off, he works his but off, he does everything and more that we ask of him.
People are missing out if they don't give these guys a chance, seriously, missing out.

5 Signs You Are Being Played (bonus at the end) - Duration: 6:18.
Hi guys, Ang here, and welcome to another SS101 YouTube
Hello from Hong Kong, it is fantastic here, the weather is amazing;
But, you know, I am sort of making do with
a bit of a makeshift video so I apologize if there is any sound issues
please let me know in the comments below speaking of comments thank you so much
to you guys who have commented your suggestions for Halloween I really
appreciate them please keep throwing them at me though, it is
only one away and so I will obviously be all dressed up in ridiculousness next
week on YouTube. Now on to this week's the five signs that you are dating a f-boy
before we go on to exactly what they are I do want to say one thing, if he valued
you, you would know about it.
<sigh> I feel like there should be a mic drop or something
You would know about it, you wouldn't be treated like yesterday's
pizza and only being eaten because hey he can't be arsed going out and getting
some more stuff to eat. You my love and I do mean it sweetie, darling,
oh sweetie you are fine-ass rump. You really are and no one should be
sick of eating that every day no one should be eating it because they can't
be bothered getting anything else but hey you know if he is showing you those
things it's because he probably can't see any longevity with the relationship.
It really is that simple but we'll go back to these five things and you can
then check if you smell the scent of the ass-hat and pack your ass up and move
on to greener pastures so here are the five things.
Number one
He doesn't like labels. oh so he doesn't want to qualify your relationship by anything that has a
name to it, 'I don't want to be your boyfriend/girlfriend/whatever it is' or 'I
don't want to do that because that connection, our connection is so deep
that I don't need to qualify it by names'
Oh bullsh*t
That's complete crap, if he
valued you he would be trying to lock your ass down and you know it just like
you are trying to lock his down it really is that simple
Number two
You only hear from him when he is drunk or high or has nothing
better to do with his time which means that he's only contacting you when you
are bored, ah sorry, when he is bored as hell or you're probably bored too, although
hopefully not because you should probably have a hobby, which I did put a
video up a few weeks ago- I will put it up here and that might help you
But he is only contacting you when he's bored and he has nothing better to do with
his time, that's pretty lousy and isn't really
great sign for a long-term relationship it really just means that you're the
back-up plan and you shouldn't be the back-up plan you should be the only
option which brings me to number three
Sleepovers okay so if you do sleepover he has to weirdly, work early; really,
really early every single time which means that you need to get your fine
little behind out of his bed and off you on your bike and off you go
and the idea of spending the day together brings me number 4
He could be a vampire. Now, I do like this one because the f-boys, that tend to play
these games; I'm not really sure if they are some vampiric breed of male that
doesn't like to go out in the daytime because you may find that you never
actually see him unless it is of a night time and usually there needs to be some
sort of payment in booty involved which brings me to number five
You are putting in more than you're getting out. You are chasing him around like a little lost
puppy and look I love puppies I have a puppy she's wonderful and miss her very
much over here but you are not a lost puppy you are a fantastic Fox that
anyone would be lucky to have and if you have to trail around chasing after
someone and trying to get their attention believe it sweetie they are
taking advantage of you and they aren't trying to put in the effort to ensure
that they keep you around. I mean, they don't have to because you're the one who
is keeping them around and it could be just that they keeping you around
because there's nothing better on the plate at the moment.
I know that that sucks to
hear it but like I said at the beginning if he had really valued you, you know he
would give it to you give you this time he would give you his effort and you
wouldn't have to be here trying to figure out whether or not he's an asshat
or he is really the man of your dreams. The other thing is and this is just sort
of a bonus one if you have to justify to your friends 24/7 how much he isn't one
because of that one time that he said that he wasn't one because you know we
all mean everything that we say right?
Then he probably is one because you may
just be seeing what you want to see because that's what feelings do. I'm
going to do a chat in a couple of weeks about how you really are and control of
your emotions but I do want to just say really briefly here that you can't blame
being emotionally involved or making a rational decision that's on you, you
really do have control over yourself. Now I really hope that helps and I hope that
this gives you some sign and gives you some directions of what you can do with
that boy blue, that you're currently chilling and drilling with and I will
see you next Tuesday don't forget to comment and subscribe and send me
suggestions for Halloween next week love you guys bye

Trump gets into Twitter fight with Gold Star widow - DAILY NEWS - Duration: 6:05.
Trump gets into Twitter fight with Gold Star widow saying he 'spoke his name without hesitation'
after she says president couldn't remember her fallen husband's name.
Donald Trump is disputing Gold Star widow Myeshia Johnson's account of a phone call
they shared shortly after her husband' death in Niger.
'He couldn't remember my husband's name,' she said Monday on ABC's 'Good Morning America'
program.
'The only way he remembered my husband's name was because he told me he had my husband's
report in front of him, and that's when he actually said "La David".'
'I heard him stumbling on trying to remember my husband's name and that's what hurt me
most,' she said.
The president quickly pounced on Twitter.
'I had a very respectful conversation with the widow of Army Specialist Sgt.
La David Johnson, and spoke his name from beginning, without hesitation!' he tweeted
after the interview ended
Johnson was among the four soldiers killed in an ISIS ambush this month.
The president has been in a war of words with Florida Congresswoman Frederica Wilson over
the call, after Wilson said in an interview that Trump dismissively told Myeshia Johnson
her husband 'knew what he signed up for.'
Wilson is a family friend of the Johnsons, and was in a limousine with the Gold Star
widow and her family on the way to the airport to pick up the soldier's body when Trump made
the call.
Johnson confirmed Wilson's version of events on Monday.
'Whatever Ms Wilson said was not fabricated.
What she said was 100 per cent correct,' Johnson said.
'The phone was on speakerphone.
Why would we fabricate something like that?'
Johnson said her aunt, her uncle, a master sergeant and Wilson were with her in the car
when Trump called the master sergeant .
The call came as they pulled onto the tarmac at Dover Dover Air Force Base to pick up Sgt.
Johnson's body, his widow said.
Johnson said she asked the master sergeant to put the phone on speakerphone so that everyone
in the car could hear Trump.
'The president said "He knew what he signed up for, but it hurts anyway",' Johnson recalled.
'It made me cry because I was very angry at the tone of his voice and how he said it.
'He couldn't remember my husband's name.
The only way he remembered my husband's name was because he told me he had my husband's
report in front of him, and that's when he actually said "La David."
'I heard him stumbling on trying to remember my husband's name and that's what hurt me
most.
Because if my husband is out here fighting for our country and he risks his life for
our country, why can't you remember his name?
And that's what made me upset and cry more,' she added.
Johnson was so stunned by the call, she claimed, that she didn't respond to the president.
She says she left the call feeling even worse than before.
Johnson said she was 'very, very upset' after the call and that it 'made me cry even worse.'
In the interview, Johnson also demanded answers for what happened to her husband, and why
she hasn't been allowed to look at his body yet.
Johnson says the Army first told her that her husband went missing on October 4 after
coming under a 'mass of gunfire'.
They returned a few days later and said that he had been killed in action, but didn't go
into further detail.
'I don't know how he got killed, where he got killed or anything.
I don't know that part they never told me and that's what I've been trying to find out
since day one,' she said.
She also says Army officials haven't allowed her to look at her husband's body.
'They tell me that he's in a severe wrap, that I won't be able to see him,' Johnson
said.
'They won't show me a finger, a hand.
I know my husband's body from head to toe and they won't let me see anything.
I don't know what's in that box it could be empty for all I know,' she added.
Johnson says she's going to 'keep pushing' for answers.
Meanwhile, she says she's speaking out to let he world know 'how great a soldier' her
husband was, as well as what a 'loving and caring father and husband he was to our family'.
The couple met when they were just six years old, and have two children together - a two-year-old
son and a six-year-old daughter.
The couple's third child, a daughter, is due in January.
When asked how she's going to teach her daughter about her father, Johnson said this:
'I'm gonna tell her how awesome her dad was and how great a father he was and how he died
as a hero.'

Top 5 Weird and disturbing movies of all time - mullholland dr, Naomi watts,David Lynch edition - Duration: 9:34.
hello and welcome to the kid Maddox click on the subscribe button it'll be
like it dawned on me one day that I've seen quite a fair share of strange
movies I'm attracted to them I still have yet to see films like Naked Lunch
Brazil and B button so please feel free to comment below if you think there are
any weirder films than the ones listed here so all that's left for me to say is
please sit back relax and enjoy the strange and sometimes psychedelic road
to Weirdsville welcome to Mehcad medics guys and this is make it number 1 on our
list is Mulholland Drive Mulholland Drive isn't just mind-numbingly
brilliant but one of the greatest films of all time it's certainly in top 5
favorite films and I hope it stays there David Lane serial masterpiece is a
compelling story which features Hollywood hopeful Nami watts as she
tries to help emily's yet Laura having discover who
she is and why she had a load of dosh and a mysterious blue key on a person it
is compelling seductive and a dreamlike film which features Lynch at the height
of his powers it's completely bemusing the first time you see it but once you
read up on the fantastic theories lying around the guro of internet you realize
just how genius this film is Nami watts is also sensational in her first role
and it is criminal that she was an oscar-nominated and then and that it
didn't even when any of the Oscars it was nominated for examples of his
strangeness include a psychedelic jitterbug opening a seriously scary
Tramp emerging from a dumpster in a two inch
old couple attacking Nami watts the highlight for me is the powerful scene
in the mysterious Club Silencio give it a go give it a go guys you want to tread
next one number two on our list is Holy Motors the film holy motors is one of
the most thought-provoking films on this list
this 2012 french german fantasy drama was directed by Leo Cox and features
surrealist elements in stars David Denis leavened and features Eva Mendes and
Kylie Minogue in bizarre roles in holy motors we meet a man named Oscar who
leaves in a limousine to start his job the nature of his job is mysterious and
difficult to understand throughout the day he changes into various costumes and
assumes different identities which ranges from a disturb redhead kidnapper
to a supportive father to a Chinese gangster it is revealed that there are
other people with this job Kurata Striped the film's theme has a look into
virtual reality and how the Internet era has made identity more and more slippery
to define the film gained gained positive reviews for being mesmerizing
and strange as well as difficult to analyse it also won Best Foreign Film at
numerous international film festivals if you love to be serial don't miss it ride
number three on our list Inland Empire a list of beard films won't be complete
without a few films from movie maestro David Lynch Inland Empire it is this
last feature-length film but it is one hell of a film to go out on Inland
Empire has divided opinion in a monumental way you either think it is
one of the worst films ever made or one of the best I fall into the latter
option and three hours long Inland Empire is no easy ride it's an utter
assault on the senses and trying to explain the plot would be which would be
nigh on impossible and the most David is going to give away about it it is that
it's all a woman in trouble that is it it follows that tress Laura drill
playing actress Nikki Grace whose life becomes increasingly nightmarish and
serial it's one of the scariest experience of my life and it's video is
best enjoyed on your own with the lights out Inland Empire is pure art and can't
be put into words when you are watching it it doesn't feel like you're watching
a film but having a nightmare it's sometime it's something you simply
experience sometimes to say you'll never forget the eerie family of rabbits or
seriously frightening walked image of Laura Dern
that flashes up on the screen without notice you have to see to believe in
David Lynch fans once this masterpiece
next one on the list is in my skin in my skin is really a bizarre flaky it's not
overly gross it's not gory it's not offensive but I'll be damned if this
flake didn't make me feel weird about watching it it's incredibly intimate
with its portrayal of a really messed up situation
there were many instances instances where that feel uncomfortably that
rarely happens to me I always thought I was kind of weird when I would pick a
scab off and eat it but this takes that to a whole new level and iconic I can
kind of see where my friends were coming from where they were telling me that
what I was doing was really messed up I didn't stop in who knows if our French
character will you know it is an intensely academically position film
which seems to draw much on the so called postmodern objectivity and the
disconnect itself what is most interesting in this film is that it is
void of constructed meaning so while watching it never gives us answers but
goes directly to the establishment of the subject trying to reconnect with
herself again the world she lives in a truly intelligent film which demands
further discussion and thought give this flick a shot if you are into unique
filmmaking but if you are slightly squeezie about graphic bloody injuries
ITA past this is one portrayal of a personality that's quite unique
next one on the list is dog tooth grease doesn't get a lot of recognition for
films this 2009 Greek serial film directed by yo girl auntie Mose is a
definitely interesting one if not perplexing the film follows the story of
a couple in their three grown children who lived in a fence compound it becomes
clear that the siblings have never seen the outside world their parents claim
that they can leave once they lose a dog tooth which is an incisor tooth and
acquired a car the sibling passed the time by playing competitive physical
games and sneakily re watching the movie rocky for while it is obvious that
keeping your children in a compound is abusive it also becomes clear that the
parents use violence to punish their children throughout the film we see very
strange depiction of incest and violence luckily one of the sisters get a chance
to escape but it is hard to finish the movie feeling good about it at all dog
tooth received favorable reviews increase and mixed reviews elsewhere
with the film introducing the world to lanthum oz who directed the almost as
weird the lobster last year slider if you have if you got some balls and a
penny never gonna be able to beat the water
basic exhaustion before we move ahead with our top charter here are some
honorable mentions
well who else could top a woman inhaling doe bones up her nostrils but no other
than David Lynch now don't get me wrong they've now been through a lot of
strange films but Eraserhead is really the only one on the list which
is constantly weird as soon as you hit play you're neck deep in the bizarre and
frankly terrifying world of Henry Spencer and Lynch doesn't let up until
the very last ring it is an extraordinary debut and there's honestly
nothing else like it around the race head isn't a film you watch but a film
you feel to truly appreciate it you have to let yourself go and become immersed
in the frightening world which late has lovingly created poor young David slaved
over this film for three years and even ended up sleeping in the same bed as
Henry the character for over a year all of it was worth it though even directing
legend Stanley Kerber clerked the film and made the cast of his masterpiece
movie The Shining watched a race head to get get in the right frame of mind no
one knows what the film is actually about and no one ever will although
Lynch has said that in all these years he still hasn't heard the correct
interpretation from the audience there is no point trying to explain the plot
because that's something you have to figure out it's yourself the film is an
utter Vince cave which combines unsettling industrial sounds with
startling surrealist surrealist black-and-white photography the race
head is one hell of a trip and it's filled which thoroughly exhilarated me
well there is the list guys we will be back with more sets top list of your
favorite topics stay tuned with Mehcad Maddox and don't forget to hit like
share and subscribe button also don't forget to smash the bell icon to never
miss a video from the kinematics bye bye

6 Simple Morning Habits That Will Change Your Life - Morning Routine - Duration: 4:08.
Rise and shine!
Incorporating these simple steps into your morning routine may make it easier to lose
weight.
Let's talk about some routines in few steps
1.Open the shades: When attacking a weight loss morning routine,
first soak up that sunshine!
A flood of sunshine isn't just an instant morning pick-me-up: A Northwestern University
study found that people exposed to moderately bright light in the morning have significantly
lower BMIs than people who get the majority of their light exposure later in the day.
Independent of physical activity, sleep timing, caloric intake, age, or season, morning light
exposure accounted for about 20 per cent of an individual's BMI.
Lack of sunlight can de-synchronize your internal body clock, altering metabolism and leading
to weight gain.
Just 20 to 30 minutes of morning light is enough to affect BMI and improve your health.
2.Butter the bottom side of your toast: It sounds strange, but if you're looking
to lower calorie intake, look to the bottom side of your breakfast foods.
"Butter the bottom of toast, and salt the bottom of potato rounds," Devin Alexander,
chef and host of FitTV's Healthy Decadence, told Health.
"It really helps with weight loss.
When you eat foods this way, the flavour hits your tongue right away, and you actually taste
more of it.
Ultimately that means you can cut out at least half the belly-bloating salt or butter."
3.Use the right size glass: When you pour your OJ or apple juice, use
a tall, thin glass to save on sugar and calories.
A Cornell University study found that when participants poured into a short, squat glass,
they drank 25 to 30 per cent more.
Researchers say individuals tend to focus on the height of the liquid they pour (rather
than the width) and therefore estimate tall glasses hold more liquid than wide ones of
the same volume.
4.Have protein for breakfast: Most Americans only get about 10 to 15 grams
of protein for breakfast, but doubling that may help you lose weight.
Research presented at an Obesity Society meeting found that women who ate a breakfast with
30 grams of protein from sausage and eggs consumed about 100 fewer calories at lunch
compared to those who ate a low-protein pancake breakfast.
"Protein is key for satiety," Heather Leidy, assistant professor in the department
of nutrition and exercise physiology at the University of Missouri, told Eating Well.
"It activates the body's signals that curb appetite, reduce food cravings, and prevent
overeating."
5.Get moving: Even if it's just a quick stroll as part
of your work commute, aim to squeeze in some physical activity before breakfast.
In a Journal of Physiology study, researchers stuffed participants with hefty breakfasts,
but some volunteers ate the meal before working out while others ate it after working out.
Those who exercised after breakfast gained weight from the lousy diet (as did a control
group that didn't exercise), but those who exercised in a fasted state did not gain weight.
Researchers say exercising before eating encourages the body to burn more fat for energy rather
than relying on carbohydrates from food.
Squeezing in a workout in the early hours also means it's less likely you'll be
pulled away by distracting texts and emails.
6.Take a few minutes to meditate: No need to chant in lotus position.
Just focusing on your breath for a few minutes in the morning could help increase your mindfulness,
leading to a day of smart food choices.
Brown University researchers distributed a 15-question survey to nearly 400 people and
measured their body composition.
The survey included questions such as "I find it difficult to stay focused on what's
happening in the present."
People who showed low levels of mindfulness on the Mindful Attention Awareness Scale (MAAS)
were 34 per cent likelier to be obese and held a pound more of fat in their bellies.
Researchers say individuals who are more aware of their thoughts may be likelier to notice
the negative emotions caused by eating too much.

Antonio Villaraigosa for Governor - "Life Stories" - Duration: 12:13.
I grew up in the home behind me here in City Terrace. I grew up in the 1950s. It was a home of
domestic violence and alcoholism. I remember one of many fights breaking out,
my father screaming, usually drunk, hitting my mother sometimes sometimes.
Other times just screaming so loud that we would be terrorized by it.
I remember in bed, my sister in her bed, and me in mine, kind of terrified and we're
eating peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. I remember going under
the bed, hiding, waking up in the morning
ants all over us, and my father screaming at us.
It was books that would insulate me from what was a very terrifying world for me
back when my father was living here.
My mother was someone who tried to shield us from
what was a very painful early childhood. To this day, I felt like I let
my mom down because I didn't defend her, because I hid under the bed instead of
standing up to my father. And I think that in some ways always been a
motivation for me to stand up, to speak out.
The one man in my life that's impacted me positively
more than any other is my grandpa, grandpa Pete.
My mom's dad. He died just around the time that we moved
to this house here. But I remember him coming on Saturdays, walking with his
cane getting off the bus. I remember going to his apartment on what today is
Skid Row. I remember the smell of his mustache. He taught us about the
importance of family and to be proud of where we came from.
There's one other person, Herman Katz.
You know I've often said about Herman, he helped so many
young people and he really convinced me that I needed to re-channel
that anger, and that I needed to challenge myself. He challenged me to do more,
Take the SAT. He encouraged me to apply for college. Someone I never ever forgot.
Those two people were positive male influences that played a role in
who I am and the things I've done.
At fifteen years-old I helped found at
Cathedral High School the Black Student Union and also the United Mexican
Union of Students. I led the walkouts there as a young man. And they really
pushed us. They gave us tough classes and really pushed us.
And then I get kicked out,
so they gave up on me, right? And then I went to Roosevelt High School where they
put me in shop classes, basic reading classes, because that's what they did to
a lot of Mexicans and blacks back then. What I did was I dropped out. And then,
luckily, I had a great mom that believed in me and kept on emphasizing education.
I had a great teacher here at this school and he said, 'Hey you gotta come
back. You can do, you can graduate, you can go to college.'
So, I always tell the story of it was a Catholic school that gave me a
foundation, but a public school that gave me a second shot. I ended up graduating
from high school by going on night school four nights a week,
graduating on time. Then I went to East LA college for a year,
and then I got to UCLA on an affirmative action program. So, I tell people I got a
shot and what I want to do, what I did as Mayor, I want kids like you to get a shot.
A lot of people don't know this, but Antonio first started out as a community
organizer eventually becoming a union organizer for the teachers' union.
And ultimately he became the president of the ACLU here in Los Angeles.
He understands that the way to transform communities is to empower people.
Speaker Villaraigosa has a very long and, I think, substantial track record
when he was Speaker of the Assembly.
The work that he did on HIV/Aids was groundbreaking work in the country.
The largest park and environmental protection bond in the nation's history.
The work that he did on student-teacher ratios so that kids get a better education
Providing health care for over 750,000 children in California.
The work that he did to end discrimination in housing based on sexual orientation.
And his strength of conviction standing up to the NRA on gun
control time and time again is absolutely legendary still in the Capitol.
I could always call it Antonio and he was there.
When the young men was killing up one another,
fighting with Hispanics and Afro-Americans, I called Antonio.
one of the outstanding achievements of Mayor Villaraigosa when
he was mayor of the city of Los Angeles was the
establishment of the Summer Night Lights program, opening up parks
in gang infested communities, providing programs until midnight where young
people could come into a safe environment playing basketball or other
kinds of programs, having gang members be a part of this program.
All of that was accomplished on Antonio Villaraigosa's watch.
You know, Antonio has been know to take on a lot of strong institutions.
He's taken on big polluters that pollute in the inner-city.
He's taken on the oil companies, he's taken on the NRA but at
But at times, he's taken on his friends, as well. When he feels that they are wrong.
As is the case with the teachers' union. He took on the teachers union not because he's
against teachers, he supports teachers, he loves teachers. But he's taken on the
teachers' union because he believes that, at the end of the day, we need to improve
academic achievement for students. And that kids in the inner-city are not
left behind. And as a union organizer, it was hard for him to do that. it wasn't
easy but he did it because he knew that it was in the best interests of the kids.
So in the middle of a recession, with layoffs, with cuts from the state, we took
our schools from 44 percent to 72 percent graduation rate.
Roosevelt Magnet now has a 99.6 percent graduation rate.
Mendez High School has a 94 percent graduation rate.
These kids can learn. These kids can make it. But we got to believe in them.
He was the best community person. Working with me to help these young people know that they didn't
have to be poor all their life. They could go to school and go to college and have
things just like everybody else did. And when you're doing the community service
and working with people you can't solve all the problems by yourself.
And I learned years ago, it ain't what you know, is who you know and I know Antonio.
I'm running for governor because I know in order to thrive as a state,
to restore the luster to the California Dream we got to make sure that we're
growing together. We can't keep on giving up on so many people. we got to educate
and train more of our young people. Invest in them from early childhood,
K through 12 and college affordability. Give them the skills. Train them for the
jobs that will give them dignity and respect that, will reaffirm that ideal
that if you work hard and you play by the rules, you ought to be able to make it.
And you will.
The memories I remember the most in this house are Saturday mornings.
They were very special. We would watch cartoons and just be really loud and
silly, trying to wake our dad up.
We'd be cleaning this living room here, we'd be dusting and sweeping,
and in the background my dad would put on tapes of Dr. King
and we would hear his speeches, we had a cassette series and we just
keep going until until the job to the house was done.
If there's one thing I wish
people could know about him is that he is my rock and he is the most supportive
person, and he's loving, and compassionate, and tough, really tough.
In my toughest times in my life, often the first call that I
would make was to my father. Even though there were times that I would make
afraid of what he would say, but in those moments that I knew that I needed him,
I knew I needed him, and I knew I needed his words. And the first thing he would
always tell me is, "Baby, it's gonna be okay."
He's made mistakes and he's admitted them.
I think like anyone he's hoping for forgiveness the same way he
gave to my sister and I.
And I think one of the biggest lessons that my dad had
to go through for himself was the forgiveness, forgiving himself.
Allowing my dad to forgive himself was big, and as a result
he's showed us what humility looks like as well.
I've seen people really down on their luck,
in a really hard place. But we can't give up on them. This is a great state.
We look out for everyone in California. We don't give up on people, no matter who they are,
or where they come from. Every Californian deserves dignity,
and every Californian deserves respect.
As governor, I will never forget that.
