Merry Christmas! Welcome to my channel, Tony Ypunto!

Today I'll be talking about planned obsolescence or built-in obsolescence

You may wonder what this is all about

I want to ask you something

Aren't you tired of having your electronic devices get damaged?

For example printers

getting ruined after 5000, 10000 or 50000 printouts?

Or that everyday we have to

buy new smartphones

new computers

that everything becomes obsolete

when some years ago things like refrigerators

computers, etc...

all the electronic devices lasted almost 20, 10 or even 50 years

Well, this is because of the planned obsolescence

What is this about?

This means that companies

in a planned way

create products, especially technology ones

that have an expiration date that is previously programmed by the manufacturer

This means that products will break down or stop working

when the manufacturer plans it

In this case

or in this casuistry

we can include printers

computers

smartphones

refrigerators

all kind of electronic devices that you know

are included in this planned obsolescence

It's supposed to be an illegal practice

and companies shouldn't do it

But I can tell you that almost all companies do it

I can even tell you a bit of history

When Thomas Edison invented the lightbulb

He refused to carry out a research on reducing the lightbulbs' service life

Actually, if I'm not wrong there's still a light bulb in...

a fire station in San Francisco

which has been working for over 50 years

And why is this? Because things can be made better to last longer

But why don't they do it?

Because companies would't make more money

For you to understand it better

If I'm a company and sell a never-ending product

I'll be able to provide the world with it

I could sell my product to every part of the world

But once I've done it, I'd run out of places to sell it

Which means I'd have to create a new one or...

(which isn't so simple or easy)

or I can do what normally companies do

Planned obsolescence

which means that my product will have a planned service life

So that people will need to buy my product once again from me

So if I make a lightbulb that will last forever

I won't make enough money

I'd merely be selling lightbulbs that won't run out

This means I'll have to create a market and to do this, I need a planned obsolescence

And it's to program the products to break down and have a limited service life

and this obviously increases my sales

And it's basically that

Like I said before, this is supposed to be an unlawful practice

But there are many ways to skip this illegal act

How do they do it?

Well, for instance, in iPhones or Android phones, etc...

The planned obsolescence is programmed through the operating system updates

just like in windows or apple

What does this means?

That when we install these updates on our mobile phones

They're not only to avoid...

security holes, which can also be true

But to make our mobile phones run slower,

that some apps don't work properly

or that some apps are created for specific operating systems

or for specific versions and so they won't work for other older versions

Do you agree with this planned obsolescence?

That manufacturers don't do research on extending the product's life?

In fact, it's the opposite

They carry out researches on how to decrease the product's service life

Who doesn't remember grandma's or mother's washing machine?

that after 10 or 15 years

and after some tyre or motor fixes, etc...

After those reparations

they were still working properly

With washing machines nowadays, when something small breaks

we have to throw it away and buy a new one

Well, that's also planned obsolescence

I don't agree at all with this market trend or manufactures' idea

But at the end, that's how it is

The only thing we do now is buy, buy and buy once again

We buy and throw away, buy and throw away, buy and throw away

That's what planned obsolescence is about

That we don't stop buying products

That we make companies richer

That these companies are selling constantly their products

And so we don't stop buying

That all we do is...

Buy

And throw away

and buy once again

And that's what this is all about

This is a simple thing that all companies are doing

or almost all of them

In what kind of products we don't see this planned obsolescence?

Well, in those that aren't digital ones, basically analogical ones

Because it's quite hard to make it posible in analogical products

A pendulum clock, for instance,

it's very hard to program for that purpose

Because you can't digitalize it

You can't program it to display the time for about 5 years

and then set it to stop working suddenly

That can't be possible

Printers are a usual example in this case

There are printers (if you google it, it's even funny)

There are ways to bring printers to life

Normally the service life of a printer depends on a limited number of printouts

When it reaches that limit or you've printed those printouts

The printer will stop working automatically

Usually the led turns red

indicating that the printer isn't working so you should call customer service

When you do they basically tell you that it can't be fixed and to buy a new one

Let's take the PS3 as an example

There was an issue related to the yellow light

Those who owned a ps3 may know that

Because maybe it happened to you as well, just like it did to me

Apparently the soldering materials used for this game console

were made of a material that after a period of time spoiled itself

So the game console wouldn't work properly and the yellow led would turn on

Well, that´s once again planned obsolescence

Simply a not so good material used for welding

As simple as that

A Mothman Christmas - Duration: 1:38.

Seasons Greetings and Merry Christmas.

I thought I'd share some of the Mothman themed ways I celebrated this Christmas.

The Mothman Museum started selling Mothman Christmas ornaments so I of course got one

to decorate the tree.

Then I added a Santa hat to this Mothman statue on my shelf to make it a bit more festive.

Then a lot of the Christmas gifts I received were Mothman related such as this Mothman

figurine from The River Museum.

I also got some books by John Keel, writer of The Mothman Prophecies.

The books I got include Jadoo which was his first book, Operation Trojan Horse, The Eight

Tower, The Best of John Keel which is a collection of his FATE Magazine articles, Flying Saucer

To The Center of Your Mind and The Book of Mothman which are two books compiling his

lectures and writings and then finally Anomaly The Irregular Newsletter Edited by John Keel.

I also got this weird hat which looks like Mothman but was probably made to be a bat

with red eyes.

But my favorite present is this wooden record player which also plays CDs and Cassettes.

Because Mothman is Folklore from the 60's and because I didn't have any room elsewhere,

I thought it would make sense to put this record player on my Mothman shelf.

One other thing I got before Christmas was this bandit dog tag.

I got it made in reference to Bandit the German Shepard which disappeared during the Mothman

sightings in 1966.

So those are some of the present I got and the

Mothman related things I did over the holidays.

How often should I reuse songs in my worship sets - Duration: 7:27.

Hey, it's Dave Dolphin at practicalworshipblog.com,

sharing ideas, tips and

practical advice for the everyday

worship leader. Today we are tackling the

question how often should I reuse the

songs in my worship sets? How much

repetition is too much repetition. Now I

can't answer that question directly for

your situation, because it's going to be

different.

It's all relative to congregation and

church and size and things like that, but

I figured I would give you my example

from our situation and then you can

interpret that into your own situation.

Now this video is coming out at the end

of 2016. It's the last week of the year,

and I like to run a report out of Planning Center

that shows me all the songs that

I did for the year and how often I did

them. Now I like to run this report at

the end of the year. You can run this

report at any time of the year and for

any period. It can be a month, it could be a

quarter, it could be six months.

It doesn't matter. You can set those

parameters, but I pulled the data for our

church for the year and I figured I

would show you to answer this

question. Before I dive into the numbers

I guess I need to show you how to get to

this report. So in Planning Center you go

to your songs tab and then over here you

have reports and you have CCLI Copy Report

and that's what you want. Now

notice there's a button here for a csv

export. You would think that could work,

because that gives you a file that could

go straight into Excel or Numbers.

However this report does not have the

information that you need. This report

does. However it doesn't give you the

option to send it to a file. It just puts it

on the screen, but I'll show you how this

works.

So again you can choose any set

of dates that you want, but for the

purpose of what I want to do, I want to

do the entire year, from January 1st

to December 31st. I only want our

Trinity Baptist Church, our main service

in there, so I'm going to unclick all

these. I'm going to hit accept, and

then this shows you all of the songs that

you did and the number of times they

were used in the plans. To get this into

Excel or any kind of spreadsheet, you

just select all the data and you go and

you copy it and then now you can paste

it into your spreadsheet program.

Once you paste it into a spreadsheet, it

kind of looks like this. Now let me give

you a little bit of context. Our style, our

worship styles, pretty contemporary. It's

kind of a mix between Church on the Move

in Tulsa, Oklahoma and also Watermark

Community Church in Dallas, Texas. There's

a video that I did about our worship

style and I'll put that in the

description below and also the

YouTube card right up above. But we do an

average of four songs per service, so

that's 52 weeks times four songs, that's 208

possible songs for the entire year.

This report right here

lists about 91 songs, and it actually

shows 214 available slots, if you take

all these numbers and add them together,

which is close to 208 so that kind of

makes sense. Now notice that the top 10 songs

that we have here have been scheduled five or more

times. Some of them as much as seven or

eight times, and I would say nearly all

of these songs are songs our

congregation would say that they own,

that it's their song, like 10,000 Reasons,

Lord I Need You, O Come To The Altar,

O Praise The Name, Good Good Father. These are

all songs that I would say these are our

churches songs. Now I'm not sure about

Close and I'm not sure about I Surrender.

I think that might have been

the band getting a little bit carried

away, because we enjoy playing those

songs. So it's good to run a report

like this, because you see, ok, we did that

quite a bit and we might need to back

off on that a little bit. But by and

large most of the top 10 is

filled with songs that are our church's

staples, and so that's good to see. Now

looking at the next ten or so that were

used about four times or so, again these

are all pretty big staples of the church.

Hallelujah What A Savior,

How Great Thou Art, In Christ Alone, It Is Well,

Man Of Sorrows, No Longer Slaves. All

these songs I'm like, yeah, these

are songs that our church really enjoy

and resonate with. Now if I scroll down

to the songs that were only used once, a

lot of these songs were used because,

well this is a Christmas song, that's

another Christmas song, Christmas song,

we did this one because it was part of a

message series that we were doing, this

is for Easter. Draw Me Close was actually

something we did... we did like a 90s

throwback where we

did a bunch of 90s songs. Again that tied

into the message. Now I've taken this

list, but I've actually put it into this

chart. And so over here I have a column

here that shows these are the number of

unique songs that we did for the entire

year. So 11 of those songs we did five or

more times, 11 songs we did four

times, ten songs we did three times, 16

songs we did two times, and then we did

43 songs only one time for the year for

a total of 91 songs. Now if you go to this

column over here, this is the available

slots for the year. So if you take every

slot of all the services, 65 of the slots

were filled with songs we did five or

more times. 44 of the slots were filled up with

songs that we did four times, and on and

on it goes. To kind of put that more in a

visual way, notice that for our songs

pie chart the songs we did five more

times or four times, the blue and the

green, make up about one-quarter of all

the songs that we do. If you look at the

songs we did three or more times,

that's about one-third of all the songs

that we did for the year. And half of the

songs that we did were songs that we

only did one time. Now compare that to

the slots pie chart, you look at the blue

and the green, songs that we did four or

more times, that is nearly half of the

slots, half of the time in our services

on average we were doing songs that we

had done for more times. If you look at

the blue and the green and the yellow,

songs we did three or more times

that's two-thirds of the slots available.

Now I already felt pretty good about the

rotations that we had this year before I

pulled up all this data and put it

together, and we also did two surveys

this year that seemed to imply that our

congregation was content and good

with the amount of repetition that we

were doing. Again I'll put a link to a

blog that I did on taking surveys in the

description below. But it's fun to play

with the numbers and to be able to have

one more way of looking at it and seeing

and analyzing are we doing what we are

called to do. Is how we're leading

this ministry

working? So that's some of my thoughts on

how often you should reuse the songs in

your worship sets and repetition and

using songs over and over and over.

to have your own domain name you have to

register it and it has to be available

you cannot register say google.com

so you have to find a domain that's

available on a on a particular extension

that's available so dot-com dotnet

typically the most popular for internet

marketing is you want to get a dot-com

or a.net those are too vast there are

on the links and you make no money so in

order to get good deliverability rates

I would HIGHLY highly recommend getting

your own domain name again it's very

cheap like between nine in fifteen

dollars a year so that when you're

sending emails they come from j add paid

like jd.com or something like that your

deliver deliverability rate will be in

the high nineties you know unless you're

sending a bunch of pictures or or links

in emails so you absolutely need a

domain a lot of people also buy domain

names to do redirects so instead of

using your affiliate link or your you

know sometimes a link that people give

you to promote you know it's a really

ugly URL with a bunch of letters and

numbers and slashes it's easier to go to

for example again paid like jd.com or

work with j dot com and then you can

have it redirect to there so i highly

recommend you get a domain name i

probably have around 15 that I used for

various things

not that you need that many but i would

at least get one if you're going to be

doing anything in

marketing people will just trust that

email trust that domain more than if

they're going to like a gmail or a

specific affiliate link that looks

really really spammy and really really

nefarious where do I like to grab domain

names from my favorite places

namecheap.com you can go to godaddy

there's one and 1.com there's tons of

places you can get domain names but i

prefer namecheap and you don't need to

buy hosting when you get your domain

name so don't kind of get tricked into

that when you're going through their

sales funnel if all you need is a domain

name then just buy a domain name it's

very cheap it's a one-time charge and

also i'd recommend you get the private

privacy or private dns for private

domain name registration where every

time you register domain and you have to

put your contact information your

address for spam purposes for internet

abuse so you can do a private

registration where it refers to the

company that you registered from so in

for an example namecheap i get a private

registration for them

my contact details show up as namecheap

not my personal or my business contact

details they then get the if there is

any contact that needs to be made

namecheap will get that and then they

know that that refers to me as a

customer so then they'll get in contact

with me as opposed to that stuff being

publicly available on the web and then

people will sign you up to spam list

because we'll see your email there for

contact purposes so i would highly

Channel Update 2017 (New content, Ideas, and more) - Duration: 3:22.

Hello guys, and welcome back!

I been away from YouTube in a couple of months, with no uploads or anything.

The reason being is for real life issues and other things that's not worth talking about.

What I want to talk shortly about, is for the upcoming content on the channel in 2017,

where I'm still figuring out what content I want to make, but I do have some ideas.

The first idea that I had in my mind since the beginning of the series named,

Secrets in World of Warcraft, is to find secrets in all kinds of games, and not only World of Warcraft

Between the showcase of the secrets, I could also show bugs and glitches, that might or

might not help the experience in the game.

This idea is one of the ideas that I want to make content about, because there are so

many games with tons of secrets, bugs and glitches.

I might start looking for secrets in Blizzard related games first, and maybe afterwards

go to other games.

My second idea, is to also showcase my work that I will be doing besides YouTube.

The content will be mostly web development and graphic design, but also video editing.

The reason why I want to make videos of my work, is because one of you guys might be

interested in web development or graphic design.

Then I could show different techniques that I'm doing in daily basis, that might help

you with your website or graphic work.

It could be videos about a section in different code types, like: HTML, CSS, PHP, WORDPRESS,

and much more.

For the graphic design videos, I could make templates, so you guys could follow along

what I'm doing, or just want to have a workingproject template.

Now, all of this is just ideas, but why I mention these specific ideas, is because it's

something that I want to make, but I don't know if you guys are interested in content like this.

I simply can't keep making World of Warcraft videos, as I mentioned in an earlier video.

If you have any ideas yourself, then I would love to hear it from you, or you have some

feedback for the ideas that I just said, just make a comment and I will be sure to read it.

A Mothman Christmas - Duration: 1:38.

Seasons Greetings and Merry Christmas.

I thought I'd share some of the Mothman themed ways I celebrated this Christmas.

The Mothman Museum started selling Mothman Christmas ornaments so I of course got one

to decorate the tree.

Then I added a Santa hat to this Mothman statue on my shelf to make it a bit more festive.

Then a lot of the Christmas gifts I received were Mothman related such as this Mothman

figurine from The River Museum.

I also got some books by John Keel, writer of The Mothman Prophecies.

The books I got include Jadoo which was his first book, Operation Trojan Horse, The Eight

Tower, The Best of John Keel which is a collection of his FATE Magazine articles, Flying Saucer

To The Center of Your Mind and The Book of Mothman which are two books compiling his

lectures and writings and then finally Anomaly The Irregular Newsletter Edited by John Keel.

I also got this weird hat which looks like Mothman but was probably made to be a bat

with red eyes.

But my favorite present is this wooden record player which also plays CDs and Cassettes.

Because Mothman is Folklore from the 60's and because I didn't have any room elsewhere,

I thought it would make sense to put this record player on my Mothman shelf.

One other thing I got before Christmas was this bandit dog tag.

I got it made in reference to Bandit the German Shepard which disappeared during the Mothman

sightings in 1966.

So those are some of the present I got and the

Mothman related things I did over the holidays.

You have basically the insurance company or their representative and then you have the

injured worker or their representative.

I always want my client there, a lot of the employer insurers do not come, they'll just

send their attorney.

And basically you have two separate rooms, so there's never a situation where you're

sitting across the table from someone you worked for and you're pointing a finger and

you're yelling at each other this is what my case is worth, no this is what my case

is worth.

Instead you have a third-party, a neutral who's a mediator and they walk back and forth

between the two rooms and they carry the offers and the demands back and forth, and it gives

you the idea to hear what perhaps a third party might think of your claim.

They're not going to be deciding your case the way a judge would but they do have an

impartial view of maybe what's going on.

So that you're not going into it thinking I don't even know what to expect in a hearing.

A lot of times I tell my clients go to a mediation because it's nice to have that, that extra

point of view, because I'm always going to look at a case in the best light possible

for my client and employers always going to look at it in the best light possible for

their client.

So if you have a third party that's going to come in and tell you here's what I'm looking

at neutrally, it's a great way to look and see what the judge might do in any given situation.

How to Paint Grapes With Oil - Narrated - Duration: 4:58.

Hello my friends and welcome to the last tutorial of the year!

I am Leonardo Pereznieto and today we will paint grapes

with oil.

We begin by mixing a very dark green.

I use the oxide of chromium green and a dark brown called sepia extra.

With this, an a hard bristle brush I sketch the vessel or the container.

Previously, I had already toned the canvas and it is already dried.

We will also mark where the shadows go.

And I make it a little bit bigger, like this.

Now we paint the grapes.

And we shade it.

I don´t like painting directly on the white canvas

because it is harder to see the colors.

That one is using.

I fix the upper side over here…

and then I shade the grapes as well.

Basically, I´m laying down the painting just in black and white for right now.

It's not really black, but you get the idea.

I mix the color for the background with some more oxide of chromium

some viridian green and some ultramarine blue.

With this we paint the background.

Adding some reds here and there.

And some white.

Let´s also paint the surface where the container is standing.

A little darker than the rest.

I don´t want the background to be even.

Let´s add a light, over here in this area.

WIth some yellow.

With the sepia I do some of the darks of the vessel.

And then with a light blue, the lights.

The list of materials that I am using also will be in the information below the video.

This is the last tutorial of the year.

Next Tuesday we will be on 2017, that´s unreal [laughter].

It´s time to set some good artistic goals, for this coming year.

We paint the dark part of the grapes with a dark purple.

And then we add some cadmium red and some orange.

And at the tip, some bright yellow because I want these grapes

to be shinning.

The light is coming from the top-left so the top-left of each grape

I paint a cold light.

Very white!

But the light goes through the grape and at the bottom-right will be the yellow

illumination, maybe I exaggerated a little bit

the light on them, but I think that will look

pretty nice!

Is not totally how they look in reality but that´s an artistic license that

we can take, to make it even better.

The yellow-orangy light that is on the right is warm, so it contrasts nicely with

the other one.

I think I am missing grapes [laughter].

Let´s paint some more behind them. We sketch them as before.

And we paint the shadow part.

Here will be a fallen grape.

That will be closer to us.

This of course for composition purposes.

I should do a video tutorial on composition.

On how to make the drawing or painting look better by the arrangement of things.

We pull some lights to reflect on the vessel and also paint some

grapes as a reflection on it.

Let´s not forget the cast shadow of the container.

Let´s do the stem, we do a light brown and then place a shadow, for it.

Then some red on the grapes.

I will not paint so much light on these back grapes, precisely

because they are on the back and they should stay there [laughter].
