Youtube daily report w Dec 27 2016

people today I am here to make a review

of the basic soap recipe I made

for beginners like me then today I will show

you how it is!

I made this soap on Saturday - 6 days ago

I did and I left it until Wednesday

on my board and left taking some air

I really wanted it dry out smoothly. Today is Friday almost

a week later just looks like

It is well hard pretty cool I

I'll do the test ... I cut one in half because I found it's kinda big

is not smelling oil ... it is smelling soap, but not smelling cooking oil

It is well hard

It is white, very light in color and it is very cool !!!

Because you do not want a ugly soap

the only thing I thought that I should done

is to put more hot water on the

the powder soap because I can see some

pieces that didn't dissolve !But very little thing !!!

But for next time I want topa more attention

Let's do the test !!! Let's recap: I used to

lye in crystals

here it is difficult for us to find lye in flakes

then this soap serves not only

to wash clothes but also to wash

dishes

If you have not watched the video, I will leave here the link! Just click and watch the video How I made this soap!

I want to ask you toggle a thumbs UP here in video and share with your friends on

Facebook

if you liked this video

I have a dirty cloth that I used yesterday on the floor

It is quite dirty and I have not washed because I said: " tomorrow I will do the test "... and fell some coffee on it ...

I left the soap drying up because you have to wait for the lye to cure

If you use the soap as soon as you finish making it

two things happen: first your

hand hurts or burn because the lye is still

active and second is that if you do not wait

it harden you will lose

all the soap because it's too soft

then it will come out all the fabric

on your clothes...

You will spend 1 soap

a day because it will still soft. It's Not smelling bad

It's making enough foam

but it's pretty cool I found very cool

Look how cool is it!

Now I'll show you how I will

wrap soaps because I do not

want to make it without

wrapping because otherwise it will get very dry

and will turn to stone

I think it's at the point of wrapping

You will get

this food wrap that I think is the best

option if you have another option you

want to give away you can put it in a cellophane bag

ok ... I'll get a piece and will wrap ... simple!

This will help keep my soap protected soap

do this with each one and I will leave within the

box also to better organize the

laundry room. This box I have is from

the food of my cat

so I took it and put it fit perfect you can organize it

the way that you want!

I organize my laundry room... so we will wrapping one by one ...

Another option you can also put in

paper bags

you can pick up paper bags and

wrap your soap

if you do not have air conditioning

mainly because the people here have air conditioning because it is impossible to live without air conditioning here.

As we have this air conditioning

we are obliged to cover everything!

you can not let a piece of bread on the table

You can not really leave it for a long period of

time! Everything

dries out! Our skin is dried ...

You have to be careful even with your

eyes ... use eye drops because air

conditioning dries out very much!

I'll put here the soap in order for me to

use it and I want to give it as gift for people

so they will try it...

If you want to write the soap's name on a label

in each of them and I think it's

what I will do because I'll give it to people and they

will not know what kind of soap it is ....

Put the day, month so you know

When you made this soap!

just so you have a reference!

next time!

🕉😀 Oneness - Adyashanti - Duration: 17:25.

The experience is the whole universe is now experiencing itself.

Everything we learn is that there are all these discrete, separate things going on, right?!

There are trees and there are things called rocks and there are things called rivers, there is a thing called the sun, and the moon, and the ground, flowers and trees, humans and animals. All these things.

And basically they all don't really have anything to do with each other.

Right?

That's how everything is described.

Now describing things that way has a real practical value.

You can take things and manipulate and reassemble them.

Right? And make a car for example. So looking at things like that has its practical use.

But when it comes to life

we get so indoctrinated into that view and it seems so true to us, it seems absolutely true.

And then we seem to be this little beings and bodies walking in this immense thing called life.

Life is out there and I'm in here,

which actually - if we would work hard on our ideas - we would see immediately and not even in a way of spiritual realization, but even on a rational, logical level

we would immediately see that those conclusions are completely and absolutely ridiculous

completely and absolutely ridiculous.

As I often say, we know how to define something as simple as a tree:

root, trunk, branches, leaves or pine-needles: tree.

Look outside, there they are: tree

Right?

And trees grow in this thing called the ground, and they reach up towards the sky.

But the tree isn't the ground and the tree certainly isn't the sky, so we think.

Right up until the point we try to take the ground away from the tree.

You realize there is no such thing as a tree without a ground.

Have you ever seen a tree growing in the mid-air?!

There is no such thing as a tree without a ground to grow on.

If you pull the tree out of the ground it will die.

It's like yanking its heart out.

It's like someone yanked the heart out of you.

You die!

You yank a tree out of the ground ... why does it die?

You've dismembered it, you've taken away from something that it is.

It just doesn't grow on the ground, it is the ground!

There is no such thing as a tree without the ground.

You can say 'Well, there is no such thing as a tree without a branch.'

I'll grant you that.

There is no such thing as a tree without a trunk.

But we usually don't look and see: there is also not such a thing as a tree without a ground.

Nowhere is there such a thing as a tree without the sky, and the sun and the rain.

Should I go on? Where will it end?

Where will it end? What are we then to call a tree?

You see, something in your mind will go like 'Well, I kind of get it, but at the end of the day, really, it's a tree, you see?!'

Yes, but if just take away any of these elements ...

Let's take the sun away! Where is your tree?!

Where is the tree?

There is no tree if there is no sun!

You say 'The tree depends on the sun.'

No, it doesn't! The tree is the sun!

The sun is as much of a tree as the branches and trunk and roots are the tree.

You take one away, that's it!

In fact you can take branches off a tree, don't take too many off,

you take some branches off a tree and the tree will still live.

But you can't take the sun away from the tree forever!

So, which one is more a tree?

Which one is a better definition of a tree?

It might be that the sun is actually a better definition of a tree than branches!

Because you can't take a single sun away from a tree, because then they won't even exist.

But you can take a few branches off them.

In fact, sometimes you can cut them down and they will grow right back up.

As long as they have other parts than themselves.

The soil, the sky, water, sun, etc.

It's easier to see the tree on an intellectual level, isn't it?!

'O.K., that is kind of weird, but alright ...'

O.K., I grant you that.

And of course being able to call it a tree, we do that for convenience, right?!

So when we say tree we know where to look.

There is a reason we call it a tree and make it a discrete thing.

As a practical, utilitarian device of being able to name something. That's perfectly fine to do that.

There is nothing wrong with doing that.

But then we take the name and the definition to be real.

Now a tree that's firmly planted in the ground... that's not too hard to see.

'It's connected to all these things.'

No, it is all these things.

It's connected in the same way like the branches are connected to the trunk.

You take the sun away, you have no tree. You take the water away, no tree.

O.K.

Human beings are a little bit weirder than that, aren't we?!

Because we're not stuck to the ground, we can hop around.

We can hop around, right? Which is a cool thing.

'Look at me, I'm not a tree. I can hop around.'

Until you consider, which may actually happen to us that when all the trees disappear, guess who else disappears?!

You and I! We disappear!

And can we hop around if there is no ground to hop around on?!

And I hope it never happens to you, but if you lose a finger, we're still here.

As long as it doesn't get to infective.

It's going to be painful and nasty, but we probably are going to be still here. We lose the finger somehow.

Right?

What about if you lose the sun?!

You're not here! Which one is more you, then?!

Most people will say 'My finger is obviously much more me.'

Yes, but you can do without it! What about the sun?!

'Oh, that's something I depend on. I depend on it.'

'I depend on it.'

'Any idiot knows it's not me. I depend on it.'

'But my finger! Now, that's me!' But why can you do without it? 'That's just details.'

Don't ask too many direct questions, you know.

The oxygen we breathe. How do you do without that?!

If you really want to see how 'other' you are, how distinct and separate you are as a body from the world around you, just try to hold your breath.

You'll see really quickly how the breath is as much part of you as your feet are, and your eyes and your tongue is.

If you cut off your breath, it's worse than cutting off your hand.

Not that this logical argument is the same as oneness. It's sort of a philosophical model of oneness.

But if you extrapolated it out, actually, everything depends on everything else.

And not only that everything depends on everything else, everything is everything else.

So when the Buddhists talk of emptiness, which they like to do.

Empty, empty, empty, ...

For the most part I've noticed people don't like me to talk about emptiness.

Empty. Talk about fullness!

But empty is simply a way of saying that everything is empty of discrete, individual, separate existence.

It's empty of that.

If you look at a cookie, where is the cookie-ness in the cookie?

It's a name! But where is the cookie?

'You idiot, here is the cookie.' Yes, but what is that cookie?!

Let's break the cookie apart.

'O.K., it's flower(?), it's water, it's butter and a lot of sugar.'

Maybe come chocolate and things.

If we take all those parts away, then where is the cookie?

'Well, it was a cookie a minute ago.'

So there is not this inner thing, this essence, which is called 'cookie' or 'cookie-ness,' right?!

It's all these things put together and then we call it a 'cookie.'

What you are really saying is 'When I assemble the world in this way, I'm going to call it a 'cookie,'

But what it really is 'I'm just assembling the world in a particular way.'

When I assemble it this way, then we call it something else. A 'cake.'

When I assemble it this way ... something else.

But this thing called 'cookie' doesn't actually exist.

It's only a way to describe the way you put things together.

Human beings the same way.

That's why as soon as you go looking for yourself in the same manner which you look for your hand,

'Like that. There is my hand. O.K., where is my Self?

I can't find it in the same way.

It's a whole collection of parts.

When they are assembled in a particular way, we call it 'human being,'

When they are assembled that way, we call it a 'tree.'

When it is assembled the way down there, we call it the 'ground.'

So everything is empty not as an empty box,

not as some strange, amorphous (nebulous, vague) sense of inner emptiness.

You can have that, too.

But that's not really what they are talking about.

Emptiness is actually a backwards and upside down way of saying One, Unity.

It's a way of saying 'The only way to truly define that tree outside is to define it as almost everything that exists in the universe.'

As suns and clouds, trees, branches and roots, but also the earth and the soil. Where did all that come from?

From other stars and galaxies in the universe. You just go on and all of a sudden you realize the 'tree' is, well it depends on everything.

And everything depends on a tree. I won't go into that. I confuse people enough, I'm sure.

So when we say the thing called 'tree,' there really is no independent thing called a 'tree,'

there is obviously the thing out the window, I grant you that. There is a thing you look at and see it.

But when you really look at what that is,

You will be hard pressed to find anything that it's not!

It's kind of a weird thing, isn't it?!

Taking the sun away from a tree is like pulling your heart out. You can't do without it!

So how can the tree be other than the sun?!

And the same is true for you and I.

This is why when we go into the deepest state of our being, that we actually experience the unity.

Because unity isn't just a nice idea, not a better belief system than separation.

It has nothing to do with a belief system.

In fact you can't see it as long as you have even the belief system of oneness. That will still get in your way!

But as soon as it all drops, then you don't see it the way I pointed it out, which is sort of a philosophical, intellectual argument.

But you actually experience it.

And the experience is the whole universe is now experiencing itself.

When you look at a tree it's the tree looking at itself.

It's all of life looking at itself in the form of a tree.

It's the same thing as Simon the New Theologian seeing everything as Christ.

My foot is Christ, my hand is Christ, everything is Christ!

Christ is just a word for the all-encompassing, total, non-separable reality of everything, that everything is linked with everything else.

To see it, to feel it. The moment you feel it, you no longer feel estranged from the world.

The universe is actually your intimate companion, it's more than that. It's your intimate Self.

Because this is what humans being experience. This why this spiritual search is happening.

Because we feel that something is missing.

And something is missing. The entire universe is missing.

That's what is missing.

My direct experience,

that I can't separate myself actually from anything.

No Cloning - Duration: 10:04.

Cloning: If you want to make a copy of something, you need three things: the thing to be copied,

raw materials that you're going to turn into the copy, and a procedure for transforming

the materials into a semblance of the original thing.

To copy a famous painting , you need a blank canvas, a brush, and the right colored paints,

and then you carefully put paint on the blank canvas to match the original as closely as

you can and hopefully sell it for a lot of money. But your painting isn't exactly the

same as the original – the red is a little too bright, that stroke is a little too heavy,

there are a few too many atoms of carbon 14 in the new canvas, and so on – it's a

copy, but not a perfect one. Is a perfect copy, identical even at the subatomic

level, even possible? Like, can you make a copy of my brain down to the neuron and beyond,

so that even the position, momentum, and spin of every single sodium ion moving between

neurons is exactly, indistinguishably, the same as in the original? Physicists call this

kind of perfect copying "cloning", even though it definitely isn't the same thing

as cloning in biology where two organisms share the same DNA but how they grow and develop

can be very different – cloning in physics means a much perfecter copy, where the relative

positions and momenta and energy levels of every particle and all of their bonds and

interactions are exactly the same in the copy as the original, such that if you turned your

back and randomly switched them, there literally would be no way of telling which was the original

and which was the copy. Unfortunately, the universe is a party pooper,

and perfect cloning is impossible. I don't simply mean that we don't know how, or that

we haven't succeeded yet because it's really hard to do in practice; no, I mean

that it has been mathematically proven that perfect cloning can't be achieved even in

principle. Here, now, is that proof, using as little

math as possible. Everything in the universe is made up of elementary

quantum particles and the forces by which they interact , so for the no-cloning proof

we need to know what it means to clone a quantum particle, so first we're going to need to

know three important and fundamental properties shared by all quantum particles.

Ok, quantum property number one: particles can be in several states at once. Like Schrödinger's

cat, stuck in a bunker with unstable gunpowder that has a 42% chance of exploding in any

minute, but maybe it hasn't yet, so that the gunpowder is in a superposition of "gunpowder

has already exploded" and "gunpowder hasn't exploded yet" . Or like a photon going through

two slits at once to interfere with itself and make a nice pattern on the wall . Or an

electron in an atomic orbital, its wavefunction occupying many points in space all at once.

In summary: in quantum mechanics, the whole is equal to the sum (that is, superposition)

of its different possible parts . Alright, property number two: multiple particles,

when viewed together as one single "object" (like an atom, or entangled pair of photons,

or the gunpowder together with Schrödinger's cat, or whatever), are the product of their

components, or, since it's quantum mechanics, a superposition of products of their components,

so the situation inside Schrödinger's box could be described as a superposition of the

product of "gunpowder has already exploded" and "the cat is dead" and the product

of "gunpowder hasn't exploded" and "the cat is alive" . In summary: composite quantum

objects are multiplied together . And finally, quantum property number three:

any change to a particle that's in a superposition of states affects all of the states independently

. Kind of like how if you go two miles to the right and one mile up and then rotate

your map ninety degrees , that's the same as first spinning each arrow individually

90° and then adding them together. Or if you have an electron in a superposition of

"here" and "there" that's moving to the right, that means that "electron

in one second" will be in a superposition of "wherever 'here' is in one second"

and "wherever 'there' is in one second". In summary: when you have a superposition,

aka, a sum of several parts , any change or transformation of the sum of the parts is

equal to the sum of the transformations of the parts , whether that transformation is

a rotation, a movement, or even an entire hypothetical cloning process.

So let's recap, for the no-cloning proof, we'll use three of the properties that all

fundamental particles in the universe obey: individual particles can be in superpositions,

which looks like adding; groups or combinations of particles are products of their components

(or sums of products of their components), which looks like multiplying; and any transformation

of a particle or group of particles is the same as the sum of the transformation applied

to the parts, which looks like distributing. Ok, now we can get into the meat of the proof!

So in terms of the properties we just outlined, let's talk about what it would mean to have

a quantum cloning machine. We'd need the thing to be cloned , the materials to make

a clone out of, and a procedure to transform the materials into an exact copy of the original

. Our machine shouldn't have to know in advance what the thing to be cloned is, otherwise

it's not really a machine for cloning things as much as a machine for building a known

thing . So, if a cloning procedure were to exist, we should be able to "apply cloning"

to any specimen we want , and end up with two copies of the specimen.

The problem occurs, however, if the specimen we're cloning is a superposition, like if

it's the gunpowder from inside Schrödinger's cat's box, in a superposition of "exploded"

and "not exploded". If we apply our hypothetical cloning to the whole gunpowder-inside-the-box-superposition,

we get "exploded" plus "not exploded" times "exploded" plus "not exploded".

But since, in quantum mechanics, a procedure applied to the whole gets distributed through

as the sum of the procedure applied to the parts, that means that we should get the same

result by applying cloning to each part of the superposition , separately cloning "exploded"

and "not exploded" and then adding them together. But, we don't get the same thing,

since exploded times exploded plus not exploded times not exploded is not the same as exploded

times exploded plus exploded times not exploded plus not exploded times exploded plus not

exploded times not exploded. There are these extra terms here that don't match up.

Basically, if both quantum mechanics and cloning are true, then A plus B, squared must be the

same as A squared plus B squared. But A plus B, squared, is not the same as A squared plus

B squared. And this contradiction means that either quantum mechanics is wrong (which would

fly in the face of the most precise and accurate experimental tests in all of science ), or

that a cloning procedure can't exist. Spoiler alert: it ain't looking so good for cloning.

This, by the way, is an example of what's called "proof by contradiction", a logically

sound (but not always pretty) kind of proof where you suppose that the opposite of what

you're trying to prove is true, is true, and show that such an assumption leads to

a contradiction or other logical problems, so it can't be true, and thus what you actually

are trying to prove must be true instead. Like, to prove there's no biggest even number,

we'd first suppose there IS a biggest even number, call it E, which since it's even

it's equal to two times some other number. But then if we add 1 to that other number

and multiply by 2, we get an even number (since it has 2 as a factor), but this new number

is bigger than E, which was supposed to be the biggest even number. This is a contradiction,

so our supposition that there is a biggest even number can't be right… so there is

no biggest even number. Ok, but back to cloning. I also want to point out that the proof of

no cloning didn't examine any specific apparatus or design for how cloning might be done – it

just uses properties that we know any cloning apparatus would have to have. Like, it would

have to exist in our physical universe, and it would have to be able to clone things.

The proof proves that anything with both of these properties can't exist.

So to summarize the proof of the no cloning theorem, we first suppose cloning IS possible,

then show that such cloning would logically result in the contradiction that a cloned

whole would not be the same as the sum of its cloned parts , and hence perfect cloning

is not possible. Sorry!

However, for those wanting to live in a sci-fi future, all is not lost. Even if perfect cloning

isn't possible, "pretty decent copies" cloning is. Like, it's possible to clone

a qubit with an average of 83% fidelity . And even more exciting: the no-cloning theorem

is only about cloning; teleportation is still possible.

That's because teleportation consists of a subject, materials to make the teleported

version out of, and a procedure to turn the teleported materials into the subject, leaving

behind an empty machine. And a quick calculation shows that teleporting a superposition, or

sum, is indeed equal to the superposition, or sum, of the individually teleported parts!

What's more, "no cloning" doesn't mean you can't have two or more copies of

the same thing in the universe, it just means it's not possible to take an existing thing

that you don't already know all the details about and make a perfect copy of it while

leaving the original intact. You can build a machine to make multiple versions of things

as long as you know in advance exactly what it is you're making. So, is it possible

to learn every single detail about something? Well, the Heisenberg uncertainty principle

means that you can't simultaneously measure all the relevant details of any one object,

but if you have a number of objects that you know are the same, you can measure each of

them in a different way to get the full picture. So the irony is that in quantum mechanics,

you can't perfectly clone a thing you have only one of, but if you already have a lot

of copies of something , you can make more copies.

However, as far as we know, there's only one of each of us in the universe, so "no

100% perfect cloning" in quantum mechanics means "no 100% perfect cloning" in humans,

either . While we may eventually be able to grow a child that's genetically identical

to you, we likely won't ever be able to make a perfect clone of you that has all of

your memories, thoughts, and loves. How close we can get, of course, depends on whether

or not consciousness relies on quantum processes in the brain. But that's a question for

another day.

Kim Jong-un plans to complete nuclear weapons development by 2017: Fmr... - Duration: 2:28.

Even ten trillion U.S. dollars won't do when it comes to convincing North Korea to give

up its nuclear ambitions.

That's according to former North Korean diplomat and number two at the North Korean embassy

in London who defected to South Korea this past summer.

For the very first time, Thae Yong-ho spoke to a group of reporters in downtown Seoul.

Our very own Connie Kim was there.

Appearing in front of South Korean reporters on Tuesday, the former North Korean first

minister to London said Kim Jong-un will never give up its nuclear ambitions not even if

he were given ten trillion U.S. dollars adding its leader Kim Jong-un has plans to complete

his nuclear weapons development by 2017.

"North Korea views the period between 2016 and the end of 2017 to be the optimal period

to complete its nuclear weapons development.

This is when South Korea's presidential election will be taking place and the new U.S. administration

will be going through a power transition.

There is underlying premise that both Seoul and Washington cannot enforce any physical

or military measure to halt its nuclear weapons development."

By obtaining a nuclear state status, Thae said Pyongyang is likely to seek dialogue

with Seoul and Washington and seek to lift sanctions against the regime and halt the

annual South Korea-U.S. military drills.

But, the former North Korean official was skeptical a North Korea-U.S. summit would

happen.

With the incoming U.S. administration being a Republican one, chances of a meeting are

slim as the conservative party has always had a hardline stance against the regime.

"Whether there is any possibility for the summit for the U.S. and North Korea, I don't

think I'm in a position to give you any comment on it.

It should be decided by the next U.S. President and Kim Jong-un.

But I do not think it is likely to happen."

Having entered South Korea in August, Thae said his disillusionment with Kim's reign

of terror had prompted his defection and pledged to devote his life to the reunification of

the Korean peninsula.

To fullfill this aim in South Korea, most North Korean experts believe Thae will actively

carry out public activities.

Not a Cheap Chinese Knife Review - Duration: 5:40.

Hello and welcome back to Switch and Lever!

So, to make a long story short, I got a knife from a company in China called (((BEEP)))

for the purpose of doing a review.

After having a look at the knife, and doing some research, I simply cannot bring myself

to do a review of it, nor to spend any more time reviewing low quality chinese knockoffs,

but more on that later.

But to humor you and do a super quick overview.

The "brand", as much as it can be called a brand, is Piranha.

Looking at the knife it's a simple folding pocket knife, with a big finger hole in the

front, a big clip on the backside and a second serrated blade folding out on the opposite

side.

The blades fold anything but smoothly, almost like there is sand on the bearing surfaces.

Looking a bit closer at the knife it kind of reminds me of something.

Could it be?...Yep, it's essentially a really bad copy of a Gerber Mini-Remix 2.

The Gerber knife is currently discontinued, but looking at pictures online it's easy to

see the extreme difference in build quality.

Anyhow, enough negativity, let's take a trip through the workshop, take the knife apart

and strip it down, and see if we can do something to make this trainwreck into something better,

shall we?

There we are, a spruced up knife, with wooden scales and a much nicer grip comfort.

With a bit of cleaning and lubing the blade slides out much easier as well.

Even though I can't quite wrap my head around the usefulness of the hole, it is still a

fun feature to twiddle the knife around with.

The wood used is curly birch, and just coated with a simple matte polyurethan varnish.

But I digress, let's move on to the most important test, cutting paper.

Yeah, no...

You can definitely dress up a pig, even take it

to the dance, but try cutting paper with a dull knife and you'll still fail.

The point is, if the steel of the knife blade is crap, it doesn't matter how much you work

on the rest of the knife.

Get a good proper knife one to begin with instead.

I don't have a problem with chinese merchandise per say, but when you buy something for pennies

on the dollar, you should expect a quality to go along with the price that will just

end up in the trash before long.

I truly hope you enjoyed this video, if you did make sure to like, subscribe and throw

me a comment on what you'd like to see next.

Also, make sure you check out some other videos from Switch and Lever, it truly helps to make

the channel grow.

Heck, tell a friend if you have one!

Follow along on instagram as well, there's lots of cool stuff on there too.

Until next time!

Extreme cold snap to hit the nation tomorrow morning - Duration: 2:03.

The weather conditions are prompting a sharp increase in cases of norovirus infections,

a common winter food-borne illness.

For more on that and the weather updates, let's go over to Lee Jee-hyun at the weather

center.

Jee-hyun, I hear the the patients presenting norovirus symptoms doubled in numbers last

week from the same time last year?

Right, that's according to the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

To prevent contracting the virus, experts recommend paying extra attention to hand-washing

... and ensuring that food is cooked thoroughly.

The heavy snow advisory in some mountainous regions of Gangwon-do Province was upgraded

to a warning this afternoon.

A cold wave advisory was issued for the same regions as well as some central parts of the

country with extreme cold conditions to set in tomorrow morning.

Seoul will have a morning low of minus 8 degrees Celsius and even southern cities such as Daegu

and Busan will wake up to subzero temperatures.

Sunny skies won't help much at all as Seoul will barely reach 2 degrees Celsius.

The cold snap will continue through the week with a mix of rain and snow in store for early

Thursday morning in the capital area.

That's Korea for you, here's look at the weather conditions around the world.

Hear the birds

Singing their chants

Among the trees

The melody enchants

They tell a story written

Over the years

Full of happiness

And thousands bitter tears

Once there was a man

A righteous knight

A mighty warrior

Who has lost his strength to fight

He met a prophet

And he asked him - why? (He asked him why)

If I was strong enough

Would I have to die?

I don't want to die!

(chorus) March through the lands

With candlelight

We bring the Eversong

The sound of the night

Come and listen

The song of all hope

Before the dawn

No one is alone...

(chorus) March through the lands

With candlelight

We bring the Eversong

The sound of the night

Come and listen

But we'll meet together again

In different place, in different time

N. Korean hackers have ability to paralyze U.S. Pacific Fleet: think tank - Duration: 1:49.

Nuclear weapons and missiles aren't the only muscles North Korea can flex to remind the

world of its presence.

A Seoul-based think tank says... the regime is now even capable of paralyzing the computer

network of the U.S. Pacific Fleet if a full-blown cyber war were to break out.

Our defense correspondent Kim Hyun-bin reports.

On March 20th, 2013, North Korea conducted a major cyberattack on South Korea's key broadcasting

stations that affected over 48-thousand computers and resulted in huge financial losses.

In December of 2014, the U.S. FBI named North Korea in the large-scale hack on Sony Pictures

the month before.

So how advanced are the regime's cyberwarfare capabilities?

The Seoul-based Defense Agency of Technology and Quality said on Tuesday,... citing a recent

simulation conducted by the Pentagon,... that Pyongyang is capable of neutralizing the Pacific

Fleet's command center and could even cause significant damage to the electric grid on

the U.S. mainland.

On the other hand, the agency rated South Korea's cyber technologies at 80 percent compared

to other advanced nations... and its cyber surveillance capabilities at 74 percent.

The report says Seoul needs to invest more to be able to counter Pyongyang's cyber threats.

In related news, countering North Korea's cyber threats was at the top of the agenda

for a cabinet meeting on Tuesday.

The meeting was chaired by Acting President and Prime Minister Hwang Kyo-ahn... and held

by video conference.

Officials gave their approval to a proposal to establish a cyber security committee that

will act as a control tower in the event of cyber threats from the North.

If the damage from a cyberattack is serious, the country will also establish a cyber crisis

management headquarters to manage the situation.

Korea to postpone adoption of controversial history textbook - Duration: 2:13.

Korea's plan to implement the use of a newly written version of history textbooks in schools

nationwide has been postponed by a year to 2018.

Until then, a pilot project will be run to test the books at select school around the

country.

Our Lee Unshin explains the reasoning behind this decision.

Korean schools won't have to use a controversial new history textbook when the school year

starts in March.

Education Minister Lee Joon-sik on Tuesday announced the ministry's new plan regarding

the state-authored textbooks.

"In 2017, schools that want to use the 'correct history textbook' will be part of a pilot

project to test them out, while other schools will continue to use the current privately

published, ministry-approved textbooks."

Lee's mention of a "correct history textbook" refers to the the state-authored textbook

for the country's middle and high school students... written by scholars and experts picked by

the government.

The minister added that the books will also undergo a revision before they're put into

use in the coming school year.

And starting in March 2018, the minister said schools will be able to choose between either

the state-authored text or the current privately published ones.

Lee also said the decision was based on public opinion of the new textbook, collected after

the ministry put a draft of the text online near the end of last month and invited comments.

According to the ministry's data, about 23-hundred individuals submitted roughly 38-hundred comments

during the period from November 28th to December 23rd.

More than 16-hundred of the comments were about the book's content, and 21 of them prompted

the authors to revise the book.

Experts are planning to review 808 other comments in January.

The government's initial plan to require schools to start using a single, state-authored history

textbook in 2017... received strong opposition, with some critics claiming the president was

returning the education system to the country's authoritarian past.

The minister added that he hopes the new plan will resolve the controversy over the original

one.

Buying a House Near a School | Pros and Cons of Living Next to a School - Duration: 5:03.

How's it going everyone?

Matt Leighton and welcome back to another video.

In this video, we're going to be giving you the top five pros and the top five cons of

buying next to a school.

We're at Washington-Lee High School, which I can say without a doubt is the best school

in the country...

just because I went there.

I have nothing that can actually back that up.

But I turned out halfway decent so it's the best school out there.

Let's get into the top five cons to start with of purchasing near a school.

And the first thing you need to think about is the noise.

You're going to have extremely quiet periods of time and extremely noisy periods of time.

The noisy periods in the morning with school bus drop off and then in the afternoon when

the buses come to pick up the kids.

So if you're working from home, this is something to think about.

That's con number one.

The second one is loitering.

And this is more for high schools and middle schools.

You're going to always have a group of kids that would rather walk around the neighborhood

than walk around the hallways right.

This might not be that big of deal but you might have a few extra visitors to your neighborhood.

The third one is bus traffic.

Depending on what time you leave in the morning, there might be a few periods in the morning

and in the afternoon when your street is just completely packed and jammed and it takes

20 minutes to leave.

This is just one of the cons that comes with the territory of living next to a school is

the bus traffic and the increased amount of car traffic for pick up and drop off.

The fourth con we got is weekend sports.

It's a weekend, kind of.

It's actually a holiday and there are people playing out here on the field.

Weekend sports you're going to have more noise so if you have pets at home that get stressed

out because of noise or you are a very sensitive sleeper...

And even friday night lights.

There are lights here .

There are lights here.

It's morning so they're not on right now but friday night lights if you have lights near

your house that could be a big issue for you as well.

And the last con I have is that it will be harder to re-sell.

This is a large facility and you're always going to have buyers that don't want to buy

near a large facility, large school, large whatever...for any number of reasons.

So the fifth con is it might be harder to re-sell.

Alright now that we got the cons out of the way, let's talk about the pros.

And the first pro is just an easy commute with kids.

If you have kids, if you're thinking about having kids or you have to drive kids to school...you

don't have to drive.

You can just walk across the street.

No bikes, no last-minute rushing through traffic.

No speeding, anything like that.

You have the easiest commute when you walk across the street.

Or walk across the neighborhood.

So the first pro is the easy commute.

The second pro is police presence.

In a school zone, you're going to have a much higher police presence than potentially another

neighborhood.

I don't want to get into the safety aspects.

You're certainly going to have more police and one other thing to think about is if you

live in another neighborhood that might be a cut-through street.

You're always going to have speeders coming through.

Not the case if you live in a school zone because that's a gold mine for cops to pull

over people speeding through speed zones.

Speeding through school zones.

That's kind of hard to say.

So the second pro is increased police presence.

The third pro I got is you pretty much have a park in your back yard or your front yard

or your sideyard.

You have a track, maybe some basketball courts, tennis courts, a field.

If you have friends over, if you want to hold an event, if you want to have a Turkey Bowl,

or a Christmas Bowl which we're going to have in a little bit...you have that.

Very convenient to you.

So the third pro is having a park.

The fourth pro is higher property values.

If you live near an awesome school like Washington-Lee, your property values are probably going to

be pretty high.

Now this might be a double-edged sword because if you live next to a school that's not that

good, you might have lower property values but if you're trying to make some money on

your investment and you want to find an opportunity, maybe try to buy a house near a school that

is going to increase in quality over the next couple years.

Because people buy houses based on school districts.

And if there's a good school nearby, there's always going to be demand for that.

And the fifth pro and final pro I have is -- school is only in session for 180 days

out of the year.

That's half the year that school is not in session and those buses aren't dropping and

picking kids up and recess is not happening with yelling and shriking for kickball and

dodgeball;

Do they still play dodgeball?

But half the year, your neighbor is not even there.

That sounds like a pretty good neighbor to me if the neighbor is not even there for half

the year.

180 days, school is not in session.

Your neighbor is not bothering you.

That's the last pro I have.

There's pros and cons for buying next to a school.

I think there's always going to be buyers interested in buying near a school.

And I also think there are going to be buyers that will never touch a house next to a school.

So I think it all comes down to your mindset and what's most important to you.

Think about your life, your family, your kids (if you have kids).

Don't think about 20 years down the road when you're looking to re-sell, think about what's

most valuable to you.

Okay, that's all I got for you today.

Thanks for watching!

Until next time, create a productive day.

Take care.

Safety versus development Korea's nuclear energy development today - Duration: 4:48.

Korea marks December 27th as Nuclear Energy Day in the country.

It's a day to remind ourselves of the clean nature of nuclear power when used with caution.

But, with the safety issue of nuclear energy increasingly becoming a problem and a growing

concern worldwide... can Korea continue to rely on nuclear power for energy source?

Nuclear power, safe or destructive?

Our News Feature tonight with Kwon Soa.

The recent box-office hit "Pandora" has opened the eyes of many… to the possible consequences

of a nuclear accident.

The timing of the movie's debut a few weeks ago may have been a coincidence, but it came

just a few months after South Korea was hit by the strongest earthquake ever recorded

in the country -- a magnitude 5-point-8 quake in the southern city of Gyeongju,... followed

by more than 550 aftershocks.

South Korea has long been thought to be safe from destructive mega quakes,... but many

worry that's no longer true.

And perhaps more worrying -- can the country's nuclear facilities withstand powerful seismic

events?

"Because the reactors are far away from Seoul, I'm not seriously concerned,... but since

the earthquake in Gyeongju, I've become quite anxious at the idea of building more."

"I think the situation is very serious, especially because people live very close to the reactors.

I'm worried that if an earthquake struck the residents would be badly affected."

South Korea is home to 25 nuclear reactors, with five now under construction, and four

more to come.

In fact, Korea has the most of any country in proportion to its land area.

Like in the movie Pandora, some Koreans have protested the government's moves to further

develop the country's nuclear energy business.

Some experts also say there's too much to risk... and are pursuing legal action against

the government.

"We filed a lawsuit against extending the lifespan of the Wolsong-1 reactor... because

some criteria in the screening process were ignored.

If an accident like the one in Fukushima occured near Korea's Gori reactors, the damage would

be much greater because there are around 22 times more people living near them."

The expert claims nuclear power is a dying business,... and that many developed countries

are getting out of it all together.

She says renewables like solar are key, which she claims is getting cheaper,... and says

the sector can create more jobs than nuclear.

But others say the future of nuclear in Korea is actually bright.

"It's not appropriate to compare South Korea to countries like Germany and Italy which

are giving up nuclear energy.

They're exceptions in terms of energy policy.

And the UK has actually begun to build more nuclear plants.

South Korea's major export items used to be semiconductors, ships and cars.

But the latter two have been on a downward trend.

I believe nuclear will be a future growth engine and will bring many jobs for young

people."

With experts divided, it's hard for the layman to get a clear picture.

But safety DOES matter to the average person,... so it's crucial for them to have the right

information.

"People don't have much interest in nuclear issues.

The government should take measures to get people interested."

"After watching Pandora, I felt like such an accident could actually happen in our country.

I've gotten a little bit interested in the issue now, but I wish people could get more

details from the experts."

The Korea Nuclear Energy Agency, for one, hopes to give the public the information they

need.

"There is, for instance, the term 'ground acceleration,' which has been used a lot since

the recent quake.

We often say '0-point-2' or '0-point-3 g's.'

The 'g' stands for gravity.

A nuclear plant is safe at 0-point-3 g.

For the average person it's hard to understand what '0-point-3 g's' means.

That's why we're trying to visualize this information through infographics, internet

banners and videos."

South Korea lacks natural resources and it has put a lot of effort into developing nuclear

power.

But, with the unpredictabilty of natural disasters and the general public more concerned about

safety,... it could be a good time to review the issue with more involvement from ordinary

people.

Kwon Soa, Arirang News.
