Youtube daily report w Dec 27 2016

You stepped on the poopy...

Did I step on the poo?!

Good!

Here we are at the entrance of the house we stayed this month.

Bye bye little house!

And now we are ready for a new adventure!

This time we go to Maltaaaaa!

(meow)

Hi folks!

Our first day in Malta.

It's 20C (68F), a beautiful sun of December.

...and we are in Marsaskala, where we'll stay for a month.

Now we go to visit Saint Thomas Tower and Lost beach.

These small squares that you see here

are salt pans "salina",

Which were built long long time ago (Roman Ages) to extract the salt from the Mediterranean Sea water.

We are in St. Castille Square, Valletta.

Let's go to the left...

Wow!

Alright, today we visited a little part of Valletta.

But we have yet to see more of it.

The day is almost gone,

So, On behalf of Thamiris and myself, we wish you a Merry Christmas!

....and see you soon on my next episode!

Byeeee!

Jim Gaffigan: Disagree with Someone? Calling Them a Moron Won't Help | Best of '16 - Duration: 5:41.

If you have a problem with the patriarchy or with white people you'd look at me and

you'd go this guy invented white people because he's so white.

He probably invented slavery.

He probably was resistant to women voting.

So the weird thing is I do feel like sometimes even people talking about Trump or some outlandish

conservative opinion will kind of present things to me that are like well, you know,

some people don't support gay marriage like you maybe.

And I'm like just because I look, you know, like a prototypical white guy villain who

wants to kick immigrants out I'm not.

I mean that's a form of bigotry.

Anyway, I'm a great guy.

I grew up in a small town in Indiana and I feel as though living in New York or in LA

or even Chicago there is this dismissiveness to people with different opinions where rather

than explaining our point of view we'd rather be right.

John Kerry was running for president versus Bush there was this – I feel like there

was this collective thing like anyone who votes for Bush is an idiot.

And I'm like that's not how you convince people to – that's not how you persuade

someone.

And I feel like being from a red state or from a flyover area that sometimes people

on the East Coast or in LA there is this dismissiveness of people that hold differing viewpoints.

Rather than having a discussion there's just kind of like well they're morons.

And the thing that worries me about people that are supportive of Trump or angry about

Trump there's this absence of dialogue.

Instead saying to someone that supports Trump like what is it?

What is it that you like?

There is this self-satisfaction of like you're an idiot.

And that's not how you convince someone.

And I think that there's also this kind of denial that I think we exist in when it

comes to Trump or people of radical opinions that we emotionally disagree with is that

there are moments when they talk.

Where we go, well that's a decent point.

But we never admit to that.

When Trump talks, when he gives speeches because everyone watching this has watched Trump.

I mean I stopped working to watch him because it's entertainment.

It's not as if he's not articulate at communicating an idea.

It's not that there aren't moments that we don't identify with some of his ideas.

Overall again emotionally we might disagree wholeheartedly but we might identify with

some of the fear.

We might identify with the sheer raw kind of like I don't want to lose.

I want greatness.

We all identify.

That's not that foreign.

It's not speaking a different language.

But I think there's also some geography that we forget that I think that sometimes

there is similar to how we get our news like there's people that watch Fox.

There's people that watch MSNBC.

I'm a news junkie and there was a time when I brought up yeah, Fox news and my friends

were like how dare you watch that.

And I'm like I would go to the Soviet Union when it still existed.

It doesn't mean I'm a Marxist, you know.

It doesn't mean I support communism.

I just think it's weird that I – maybe I personally – I like having friends that

like comedians that I perform with that open for me on the road.

I had a guy who was a libertarian and then the next guy who opened for me was an Occupy

Wall Street guy.

And all three of us are friends.

I kind of like people with different opinions.

And I'm not dismissive of – I mean I might casually say you're crazy but I mean I love

these people and I also learn from them.

So anyway, my point is I'm a great guy.

2016 Resolutions Revisted with SmayJay| CharliMarieTV - Duration: 7:46.

- Hi everyone.

I've got a very special guest today.

- Hello.

- This is my sister.

Which is why we look alike.

You might have seen her before.

- My name is Smay.

- Yeah, there you go.

Her name is Smay.

She's been on my channel a lot.

And she's got a channel of her own,

which you should go and check out.

We just filmed a video on her channel

about our favorite things of 2016,

like music, books, movies, etc.

- Travel.

- Yeah, it was fun.

So, check that out.

Here, though, we're going to do something

that might be a little bit depressing.

- (Laughs)

- We're gonna revisit the resolutions we made

at the start of the year.

I made a video called Design Resolutions for 2016

where I talked about it.

You made a video as well...

- Yeah. - With your resolutions.

So, we're gonna see if we accomplished them or not.

Do wanna kick off with one?

I've got a lot more than you.

- Yeah, I've only got like three big ones

that I made to myself,

which maybe was playing it safe.

But the first one of that was kind of like the cliche

which was to get fit.

Because, I don't think I've ever been

like super fit,

but I definitely did a lot more

exercise when we lived in New Zealand.

And since moving to England,

I've been very slack.

So, I kind of wanted to get

back on the bandwagon of actually

feeling good about myself

and being healthy this year.

And it's kind of gone in like waves.

- Yeah, I feel like when I lived with you

I noticed it going in waves.

- Yeah, so in the beginning of the year

I didn't really do anything.

And then, kind of around May, June-time,

I started to pick up, and I joined the gym,

and I started going to that a few times a week,

and going for runs every morning.

Charli and I would actually do like

exercise videos in the morning.

- Yep, we did.

- And I kind of like slumped down again.

Quit the gym because I thought

we were moving house.

And then, now in the last month or so

I have joined another gym,

and I'm trying to go at least three times a week...

three or four times.

- Which is a lot.

- And I'm actually...

- really enjoying it, which I'm finding

quite surprising for me, who doesn't

- That's good.

- really like to exercise.

- So, I think you've achieved that one.

- Yeah, I call it like a half tick.

- No, I think it's a full tick.

- OK.

- I think that you've set yourself in a good habit.

- Yeah, and it's something that

I'm gonna continue on in 2017 I think.

- Yeah.

OK.

Let's to through my first category,

'cause I arranged my resolutions in two...

four different categories I think

when I did it?

So, the first one was learning.

I said I wanted to read more design articles,

and do more reading about design and learning that way.

And that I also wanted to finish the

Learn Lettering course that I bought.

I don't know if I've read more articles

than usual, to be honest.

I completely forgot that

I'd even made that resolution

until I watched that video.

The Learn Letting course, I didn't finish,

but I spent a month solidly going through it

and doing a lot of the lessons.

So, that's not even a half tick,

maybe it's a quarter tick.

But I feel like I've been learning

a lot of other things along the way.

I don't know. Learning is something

I need to focus on next year as well,

because I need to learn to code

for my new job.

So, that'll be a resolution for 2017.

- I think there's something to keep in mind though as well

is that in 2016, in January at least,

you don't really know where

you're gonna be in December.

Especially for us like a lot of things happened

this year in terms of...

We had to move house quite suddenly,

and things like that.

So I think even if you didn't achieve

your initial goal.

If maybe somewhere along the way

something else came in...

Like, you just started to learn other stuff.

- Yeah.

- You know, you've achieved other stuff

that maybe in January

you didn't set out to achieve,

- That's OK.

- but it's kind of taken over

your initial goal.

- Yeah.

- So, the other one that I really wanted to do this year

was to travel a lot more.

Last year in 2015, I went to a few places

but not really as many as I would've liked.

I think I just got a bit lazy to be honest.

- Or kind of just like a bit poor.

- Yeah, also that.

That was probably a main one.

Because I didn't have...

I was just working like contract jobs,

so I didn't really wanna be going away.

This year I've definitely traveled a lot more.

I think I counted just before...

I've been to seven countries so far this year.

Next week I'm actually going...

Or, in two weeks time,

I'm actually going to my eighth country of the year.

Some of the places I've been to before.

Some of them I haven't.

So it's been really cool

to, I guess, like experience new cultures

and you know just see a bit more of the world.

- OK, my next category was working,

like resolutions to do with work.

I wanted to be more focused on my day job

and like take ownership there more.

I feel like I definitely did that.

Actually I just left my job

and started a new one,

and they were sad to lose me

so that makes me think

that I was having a good impact there.

- Yeah, you were doing well.

- A good sign.

Another resolution to do with work

was that I wanted to take on more freelance projects.

That is something I've definitely done.

- Give yourself a big tick for that one.

- If you saw my video about burnout,

you might've realized that I took on

too many freelance projects this year.

So, that's...

Yeah, definitely is a tick.

Another, like, side resolution

is that I wanted one of the freelance projects

to be for the music industry,

and that hasn't happened yet.

But I'm still on the lookout,

so if you're in a band,

come and hire me.

- (Laughs)

- This one was playing.

I wanted to do more design for fun,

and I didn't really do this.

But I started a few things.

Like, I started a project

where I'm designing a new album cover for...

Well, single cover really for a song that

wasn't released as a single

so it never like had its own artwork.

But I've been giving it artwork.

That's been pretty fun,

but I've only done two so far,

but I've got the ideas in place for a few more.

So, I wanna make time to do more of that

in 2017 for sure.

- My last one kind of contradicts

the one that I just mentioned before,

but I wanted to save more money.

And I think...

By this, what I meant was I wanted

to able to have more money

to go traveling and things

rather than...

- Yeah.

- buying clothes that I really don't need

or going out for a really expensive meal

when, again, like I could just

make my own thing at home or something like that.

So I wanted to be, I guess,

more sensible with my spending

and more sensible with my money.

Which, again, some things have gotten in the way,

like having to move house a bit suddenly,

which takes up a lot of money.

But, again, I had the money to spend

because I've been saving

so I'm definitely proud of myself

for saving a bit more.

Because Charli has always been

the sensible money one in the family,

and I have always been the splurge

and spontaneously buy stuff--

- Yeah, but you have a better

wardrobe than me because of it.

- Yeah, well, maybe, but I'm proud of myself

for at least, I guess, being able to

control my spending a bit.

- That's good.

My last category, it was sharing,

and that was to do with, like, YouTube goals.

I wanted to make more design tutorials,

and I've definitely done that.

I wanted to do more speaking opportunities

as well, because I had that conference

in Austin that I knew about

at the start of the year.

I've done one other speaking opportunity.

I hosted a workshop in Bradford

as part of their literature festival.

And that was cool.

I'd love to do more speaking next year

about design.

So, that's a goal I suppose.

I should stop saying my goals in this video

'cause I wanna do another whole video on that.

The last one was I wanted to do a project

with you guys watching.

I thought it would be fun

if I could, like, assign a brief,

and then we all work from it.

- Oh, let's.

- And I didn't do that.

I have forgot I put it in this video,

because I was just thinking of that again

the other day as a cool thing I could do next year.

And then I just watched my resolution video

and saw that past me had already thought of that

and told you about it.

So, yeah, that's a thing I'm actually gonna try

and make happen for 2017.

- Cool.

- So, I didn't do great on my resolutions,

but, I don't know, I did a lot of other things.

So, I don't think resolutions are

like, the be all and end all.

- No.

- They're just like a guideline,

and, like, things you wanna aim for.

Thank you for watching this video.

I hope you enjoyed it.

I had a request to go back over

my design resolutions video,

and see where I ended up.

I think it's been good, right?

To check in and see where we got with our resolutions.

- Gives you some ideas for next year as well

as you have just seen we've got some

that you wanna carry over.

- Please also watch the 2017 resolutions video

when I make it.

I haven't set all of my goals in this video.

Make sure you head on over to Smay's channel.

We filmed a video about our favorites like we did before.

Subscribe to her while you're there,

because she's great.

- Ahhh.

And I'm not just saying that

because she's my sister.

- Or that I'm sitting here.

- Yeah.

Give the studio a thumbs up if you enjoyed it.

Hit Subscribe if you're new

to my channel and I'll see you next time.

- Bye.

Goodbye to 2016 - Duration: 2:59.

So that was 2016, and a lot of people are very glad to see the back of it.

Not surprising: it was a pretty awful year.

I still haven't got over the shock

of accidentally allowing my computer to upgrade to Windows 10,

which messed up the driver for my graphics card,

which isn't very convenient for somebody who makes videos.

But never mind that: this year saw the 10th anniversary of this YouTube channel:

I uploaded my first video on 26th December 2006.

It wasn't a very good video,

and I really made it to teach myself how to use a video editor.

I'd never made a video before, and look at me now.

This year I hit 30,000 subscribers,

and I was interviewed for the local newspaper,

which in a village like this means that now everybody knows who I am.

And at this point I'd just like to say "Hi!" to all my neighbours.

I also found somebody who sponsored a few of my videos.

I'm still waiting to hear whether they want to continue throwing money my way,

but in any case it was a very useful experience.

I have slowly been getting new equipment,

and I hope that the quality of my videos has improved.

When I look back on some of my earlier videos, which I was quite proud of at the time,

I cringe.

And I think that's a good sign.

The thing is, if I can do it, then so can you.

These days, most people have a halfway decent camera in their phone:

all it takes is a good idea for a channel and a bit of commitment.

And yes, your first video will be really bad.

But that's okay, as long as you make sure that each video is better than the one before.

When I started this channel, it was the early days of YouTube,

and I didn't really know what I wanted to do with it.

And I think that was my biggest mistake.

If you're going to start a YouTube channel yourself,

then my advice would be to make sure that you have a very clear idea

of what it's going to be about before you start.

And then stick with it.

So, this isn't just the end of a year. This is the end of ten years.

Here's to the next ten, and happy New Year!

Thanks for watching. If you enjoyed the video, why not send me a postcard? Here's the address.

Can I gamble? | Is It Legal? | 22 Minutes - Duration: 1:30.

I just won a bunch of my stupid friends' money

in a backroom card game.

(laughs smugly)

But was it legal?

Kenny Rogers once said, "You gotta to know when to hold 'em,

know when to fold 'em. Know when to walk away--"

But when the cops show up, should you run?

Well, as long as your game of five card stud

has no more than ten studs playing, you should be fine.

Any more, and you could be charged for organized gambling,

without a license.

In fact, you can casually bet on whatever you like: horse races,

car races, or whether uncle Louie will say mean things

about other races at Thanksgiving dinner.

There's no official limit on personal bets,

but watch out when tax time comes around.

If the bulk of your earnings come from gambling,

they consider you a professional

and not the stock photo kind.

So if you're thinking of having the guys over

for some friendly betting,

rest easy and work on that poker face.

Holy Martha, these are good cards!

Suckersssss!

If you're in Marystown, Newfoundland

I'm sorry man, that's illegal.

Top 5 Books of 2016 [CC] - Duration: 10:31.

Hey guys, so today's video is going to be

my top 5 books of 2016, and I know lots

of people are doing like their top 15

books of the year or a larger number

than I'm doing but 2016 sucked for

reading, I mean it sucked in general, but

it really sucked for my reading. I barely

read anything. I mean, I read 65 things

but like two-thirds of that was manga of

some kind.

So yeah, not a lot of books to choose

from, so I have five and a couple

honorable mentions that I'll talk about.

So yeah, let's get started with that.

The first two are going to be

honorable mentions because I didn't feel

like they were quite enough to get into

my top five but I feel the need to

mention them because they are important

and I really enjoy both of them, but they just

weren't quite high enough to get in here.

The first one is Legion by Brandon

Sanderson. This is a novella, it's like

science fiction, and I don't wanna say anything

about it. You should just jump in and

read it. It's really cool, and again I

don't wanna say anything about it. It's Brandon

Sanderson, so that should be enough to

get you to read it, in all honesty. I

didn't include it in the top five

because it's a novella and I gave it

like 4.5 stars,

but I still really enjoyed it,

so I thought I should mention it in this

video anyway. And the second honorable

mention is Forgive Me, Leonard Peacock by

Matthew Quick.

The only reason this book didn't get

into my top five is because I was not

completely satisfied with the ending, but

the rest of the book is so important I

feel like it needs to be read by everyone.

This is one of the most intense

books I've ever read.

That's the word I'm going to use, 'intense'.

It's very intense. If you don't know, this

is about a boy who decides to commit a

murder-suicide. I love this book.

Yeah, I give this 4 stars.

It's just that the ending didn't completely

satisfy me.

It's not a bad ending in any way, it just

wasn't completely satisfying, so I

couldn't include it in my top five, but it

definitely deserves a mention.

The actual top five.

Number five is Beauty Queens by Libba

Bray, and I didn't give this five stars.

I only gave four books 5 stars this

year so if I was going to make a top five, one

of them couldn't be five stars. Anyway, this is

Beauty Queens by Libba Bray. This book is

about a bunch of beauty queens,

they crash on a deserted

island and have to survive, and it's just

hilarious.

Don't go looking for anything extremely

moving in this, it's very satirical.

It's very, just, weird and funny and just...

Libba Bray is amazing,

she's hilarious both in her books and in real

life, and I just had a great time reading

this, so I encourage you all to try it.

Number four is actually a manga series,

and it is A Silent Voice by Yoshitoka

Oima. This is about this boy who, in

elementary school, bullies this girl, who

is deaf, and then later in high school he

goes to find her so he can fix his

mistakes and make up for what he did. And

it just focuses on the friendship

between these two as well as the

friendship between Shoyo, that's his

name, and everyone else in his friend

group that he makes. That's my favorite

thing about this. My favorite volume... there's

only seven volumes in the series and I

read all of them. My favorite volume was

volume 5, I gave that one 5 stars. The entire

thing is just great and the

friendships are really what does it for

me,

friendships between everyone.

Here is the first color page that you

see in this volume in case you wanted to see an

example of the art. The next two...

it's technically number 3, but I'm going

to include two because I couldn't choose

between them and I didn't want to take

up two spaces for two different books

when they basically go together, so I'll just

show you them both. They are The Hidden

Oracle and The Hammer of Thor by

Rick Riordan. This is the first book in the

Trials of Apollo and this is the second book

in the Magnus Chase and the Gods of

Asgard series, and they're both fantastic.

This one I gave five stars and

this one I gave 4.75 stars,

it's basically a five-star read, it's just

there's one little instance that I

thought dragged a tiny tiny bit but

it's really negligible. I've been

reading Rick Riordan for almost 10 years

now and I love Percy Jackson with all of

my heart, I love it so much, but I will

say that these books are technically

better in every way. The characters are

better, the plot is more developed, the

diversity; there's so much diversity in

both of these books. In every

technical sense, these are better. I

understand the Percy Jackson has the

nostalgic factor, it does for me

definitely, but in all technical sense,

these are better, and they're better

written, and they're better books.

Having said that, I still love Percy

Jackson and I love these and I don't

think Rick Riordan can write a book that

I don't enjoy.

And even though I gave this one the

higher rating, I still think I

enjoyed this one a tiny bit more, but

they're both fantastic. If you

haven't read Percy Jackson or you haven't

read any Rick Riordan books, you can read this

without reading Percy Jackson. There are

some jokes you might not understand, but

you can definitely read it. And by this

I mean the first book in the series,

not the second one. This one, you'd have to

read all of the other books;

The first Percy Jackson series and

Heroes of Olympus. You'd have to read

that to read this,

otherwise you'll get spoiled, but this you

can read separately, you just won't

understand some jokes. But I encourage

you to read them all,

read all the Rick Riordan books because

they're fantastic. I love them a

lot. Number two on this list is

actually a nonfiction book which I did

not see coming at all.

I don't really read any non fiction

at all, but this one was amazing. It's

Into Thin Air by Jon Krakauer. Now I have

read Into the Wild by Jon Krakauer, but I

read it four years ago. I had never

heard this and I've read this and it was

amazing.

It's the story of

Jon Krakauer and his group of people.

They climb Mount Everest, or

attempt to, and it's

well-written. That's my favorite thing

about this, is the way it's written.

It's never boring and I don't know if

that's a stereotype of nonfiction, but

this is never boring, and it reads like a

fiction book. I don't know if there's

much to say about it, it's just a

nonfiction book about a group who

attempts to climb Mount Everest and some

bad things happen. It's just great

and well written and I really enjoyed it

and I'll probably reread it

sometime in the future,

along with Into the Wild. I really need to

get a copy of that and reread it. Number

one is The Bands of Mourning by Brandon

Sanderson. This is the sixth book in the

mistborn series the third book in the

Wax and Wayne series. I'm not sure if Alloy

of Law counts as the Wax and Wayne series, but I

count it, because it should count. And if

that one does count, then this is not a

trilogy, it's four books. I don't know why

people say this is the last book, it's

not. There's another one that doesn't

come out until 2018. But anyway I'm not

gonna say anything about this, I'm just

going to say if you've read the three

Mistborn books and you stop, you are

missing out a lot.

You're missing out on, in my opinion, a

better series. I like Mistborn a lot, it

just got dense sometimes. So I think

where Mistborn failed, which wasn't

in very many aspects,

the Wax and Wayne series is just

insane. This one especially is my

favorite in this new series. The

characters in this book are the main

reason I gave this book 5 stars. The

amount of character development for all

five of the main characters is insane.

In the first two, The Alloy of Law and

Shadows of Self,

I just enjoyed one character a whole

bunch. I love those books because of the

plot and one single character. I love

every single character in this book,

they're all amazing, and I could just

read them just hanging out with each

other and I would give that book 5 stars

if there was a book that existed like

that.

But the plot in this book is also

amazing, so there's literally nothing bad

about this book. I gave it five stars. i

would give it 10 stars if that was an

option.

I don't know if you can see that clearly but

there are a lot of tabs in this book, a lot.

I love this, I can't wait to reread it

sometime in the future. I can't wait

until the last book in the series comes

out in 2018.

Seriously guys, read this series after you're done with

Mistborn. Don't stop after the third

book, Hero of Ages? Don't stop

after the third one, continue on please,

because it's great.

Yeah, that's gonna do it for this video.

Thank you guys for watching. If you'd like

to you can link your videos like this

and I'll watch them, or you can just tell me in

the comments. Either way, I don't really

care.

I'll see you guys in my next video,

which will be my worst books of 2016.

I love to make those video. Those

are my favorite books... books? I always say

favorite books. Those are my favorite videos to

make throughout the entire year, my

worst books of the year videos.

That's going to do it for this video. Thank you guys for

watching, my Goodreads and Twitter are in

the description, as always, and I'll see

you next time. Bye!

Breath Brings Back the Balance - Duration: 2:05.

This is Shawn Bradford with Breathe and Work and Breathe and

Sell. So today I have a super easy tip

for you. Anytime you're feeling a little

nervous, a little anxious, that you can do

anywhere to recenter yourself.

So why even go into a closing

appointment if you're in sales,

why show up to a big presentation if

you're bringing in nervous energy.

No! We don't want that, so take a moment

to do this breathing exercise right here,

so you can show up in the best possible

light and bring with you calm, confident

energy. So my friend Emily taught me this

and it's super simple, we just want to

have a longer exhale then we do inhale.

So any time you need to calm, recenter

and realign, you can do this simple easy

breathing technique. So you'll inhale for 4.

But you can do any count, you'll hold the breath

for two, float it-suspend it, and

then you exhale for six, or any count you want.

The key is it longer than the inhale, so

try one with me and then you're off on your

own. So you inhale for 4...3..2...1...

float the breath for 2....1.... then exhale

through your nose for 6...5...4...3...2...1...

As review you'll inhale through your nose for say the

count of four, you'll float the breath

for the count of two, and then you exhale

through your nose for the count of six.

Longer exhale than inhale, so anytime you're

feeling a little nervous, a little out of

balance, take one moment, to give yourself

some time to focus on your breath, and

realign your body and your mind.

It is a beautiful tool and you deserve

to always show up as your best. If you

like this please subscribe below, and you

can follow this channel to get many more

tips to really rock your sales career

and be the best you. Thank you so

much and have a beautiful day!
