Mystery, I've planned a third Red Carpet.
Here comes trouble!
EB & Guillaume: When your eyes crossed mine,
Eb & Guillaume : I was already yours…
Guillaume: So tonight, on Nomad Generation Double
we welcome our first candidate
from Greenfield Park, Ebonie!
Eb: Good evening Jayaume!
Guillaume: Please take the stage right here
Eb: Thank you!
Eb: Good evening boys, my name is Ebonie.
Hum, well… I'm the director and host of
my webserie, Nomad Generation.
I'm a simple girl, I'm positive,
I love life and I radiate good vibes.
Eb: Thanks Stef and good luck with the deliberation.
Have a great night!
Eb: Thanks Jayaume!
Guillaume: So, we've just met Ebonie,
the only Nomad Occupation candidate who's
met the handsome Stefan,
the only Nomad Occupation candidate.
So, let's see what Stefan
has thought of Ebonie.
Guillaume: Stef, how did you like
Ebonie's presentation?
Stefan: I have no idea what she was saying to be honest.
Guillaume: No?
Stefan: No idea! I don't speak French.
Eb: I won't try to force anything
but if Stefan makes a move,
I won't necessarily push him away.
Guillaume: And if it doesn't work out with him you
can always come with me, I have a villa,
not too far from here.
I don't leave wandering souls behind.
I leave no soldier, I repatriate people,
especially the candidates.
Eb: Well you know, with Stefan,
it's really just to win,
but between you and me…
Guillaume: Maybe it's more than that!
Eb: Yeah, there's a connection,
I'm not the only one to feel that! Clearly?
Guillaume: Oh no really,
I'm deeply f****g feeling your good vibes right now!
Eb: Yeah, well … it's getting hot in here!
Guillaume: So, Ebonie, Ayrou, I know you don't
belong here at all,
but it doesn't matter, we appreciate
your presence.
Ebonie, it's now time
for you to go with Stefan in the House of Love!
Eb: Ah … yeah!
Guillaume: How are you feeling?
Eb: So …
Eb : maybe…
Guillaume: Well, I'm the host!
Eb: No, but jokes aside,
it's really an honour to be here,
we loved the last Occupation Double season.
Guillaume: Jay, great job as a host
and the candidates as well,
you were super cool to watch!
Enough joking around,
it's now time to discover Bali with Guillaume.
We start with flyboarding,
an activity that makes us both a bit nervous.
Eb & Guillaume: Rock, paper, scissors…
Guillaume: Ah, that's it!
Eb: I lost!
So, I will go first I guess.
Eb: If I don't make it out alive,
this episode will be taken over by Guillaume.
Guillaume: I'll take over.
Eb: He will take over and
will be your new host from now on.
Guillaume: Seeing this makes us realize that the people
we watch on YouTube are actually quite talented!
Or maybe it's just Eb who sucks…
Guillaume: Alright, alright, it's good!
Looks like she's got the twist now!
Eb: Oh my God, it's embarrassing,
I was so proud to have gone up to 1 metre,
I'm ashamed right now.
Eb: First attempt.
Oh my God! Oh no!
Eb: We're now at Guillaume's 6th attempt.
The jets are in full power,
Guillaume is going up,
he's in control of the situation,
he's coming out of the water and it's successful.
He maintains the position, he maintains,
he maintains, can he go higher?
No, it's a vertical dive!
Eb: I consider you a part-time nomad,
which means that you travel about 6 months a year and
that you work very, very, very hard for the other 6 months.
Where does this passion for travelling comes from?
Guillaume: As they say, the apple never falls far from
the tree and my mother, as a kid, brought me
everywhere with her.
She too travelled in the 70s and 80s to destinations
where people didn't go to or travelled a lot less to.
By bringing me along,
it opened my eyes to the world. From there
on, I just wanted to continue to discover the world.
Eb: And what do you do as a part-time job?
Guillaume: Basically, I was a florist.
That's what I'd tell you on a first date.
So, it's a seasonal work,
, it's a family business, my mother started
it a few years ago and I gradually took
more and more responsibilities.
I helped the business grow with my mom
and my colleagues too.
It's 6 months a year, so from
May 1st to November 1st and it's extremely intense,
it's 7 days a week. I don't get weekends off
to go out or go to the cottage.
It's 80–90 hours per week,
but it's always with the aim
of going on a trip afterwards.
So, people bring me pots of flowers and
tell me: "Guillaume, please create something for me!"
So, I take a plant that I saw on a
trip to Vietnam and another from a trip to Colombia.
This way, each flower pot that a
customer gets has a different story.
I like to say that every flower pot brings
me closer to my next destination.
Eb: For someone who wants to be a part-time nomad
like you, do you think the only way to do so is by working
seasonal jobs or can you think of other alternatives?
Guillaume: Well, we're lucky because there is
lots of seasonal work in Quebec.
It may be landscaping or working only during the winter,
but I think you can also be a part-time nomad if you
work in a bar or in a restaurant. In the end, I think
a trip is only meaningful if you work hard to earn it.
You don't have to follow the seasons to do that;
it can just be short periods of time that you're working
like crazy but for a specific goal.
I think anyone can be a part-time nomad if they're able
to find a job that they like, because it's
important to like it, even if it's for a small period of time.
But, at the same time, the final goal is to
go on a journey and discover the world.
We cheers to that because we both work
so hard to be able to enjoy these kind of moments.
Guillaume: At first, I didn't understand the reason
for recording these moments and then sharing them
It's a lot of work, editing, filming and sometimes,
it's sacrificing part of the present moment to be able to
share it with other people after.
I think that Guillaume Sans Destination is a kind of
balance of travelling for pleasure, authenticity
and not really knowing where I'm going so that other
people can understand how easy it is to travel.
Eb: Have you ever been criticized by people
thinking that travelling was a waste of money?
Guillaume: Yes! But, we hear all the time,
especially when you are younger and people
don't understand why you're doing it.
"Why do they always go on trips?"
Especially, if it's not people who travel themselves.
They won't understand why you want to leave.
In my case, I actually make money while travelling.
Before Guillaume Sans Destination existed,
travelling was a time for me to take a step back and
say: "Okay, when I come back, I'll have a
short, medium and long term game plan."
The ideas I generated during my trips brought
me so much more money than what I'd spent abroad.
Therefore, the first argument we can say to our
parents or to our family that don't understand what
we do is : "I'm going to recharge my batteries
to come back a lot richer!"
That part is just tangible wealth,
but it's worthless compared to what we gain in terms
of knowledge and experiences.
They say travelling shapes us. It's a wealth of people
you'll meet, friendships that you'll create.
It'll forge your future, you'll learn to listen more
you'll want to discover more, you'll be more curious,
you'll doubt yourself and all of this is worth
more than all the money in the world. So, travelling is
not an expense, but an investment on yourself
and all your future projects too.
Eb: We love Bali but the only small complication
here is transportation, unless you take a scooter.
So, in order to go to Guillaume's
mysterious place today, we found a driver who'll
follow us for the next days. It's very funny,
because today, we're also joined by Guillaume's friend:
Stefano!
Stefan: Hi!
Eb: He's tagging along so we're going to be
a little tight in the small car,
but it doesn't matter, the more the merrier!
Guillaume: I've always travelled without really thinking
about where I'm going, whichever way the wind
is blowing, a bit like a weather vane that's constantly
changing direction.
That's who I am, I don't like it
when it's too organized.
The destination is just a finality.
On a trip, you'll meet someone who'll tell you:
"Oh no, go there, go there, go there" and finally, your
destination becomes secondary and doesn't matter anymore.
The destination is the result of an equation
and I think that the equation is the best part to enjoy.
I think the best stories arise from
situations that were not planned.
Guillaume now brings me to the north of the island
and he warns me that we may encounter
spirits and entities from other dimensions.
Guillaume: We've just arrived to the haunted resort. It's
an abandoned hotel, there are lots of mystical stories
about this place, but I live for those kinds of things, so come on!
Eb: Ah!
Guillaume: In fact, there are plenty of stories
There's a story that the person who built this hotel
has gone bankrupt, he could never
finish the construction.
Eb: Okay!
Guillaume: But, there's also another story that states
that the hotel was fully operational and that
all the employees suddenly disappeared in one night.
There are stories of demons, ghosts and spirits,
so we'll go see that.
Eb: Wait, do you believe in that, because I'm really afraid.
Guillaume: I'm really scared of that too!
Eb: Ha!
Guillaume: Stef has already disappeared!
Eb: We've already lost one, no!
Eb: My god, I don't like this!
Guillaume: Yeah, I feel weird too!
Eb: The energy is so tense.
We can just feel it, it's … ah…
Eb: Even scarier!
Guillaume: I don't even have words right now
my stomach is in knots…
Eb: Yeah!
Eb & Guillaume: Oh my God!
Guillaume: What is it?
Eb: No, no, no! But what was that noise?
Eb: I don't know if you guys believe in spirits or not,
but there's really something inexplicable here.
We feel a presence, following us,
but we can't see it. That's how I would describe it.
Guillaume: You know that all good horror
movies start like that; young people who want to shoot
a scene and after a while…
Eb: And you know how it goes?
Guillaume: Yeah, it goes like….
Eb: Oh no, it's always black people who die first!
Guillaume: I'm okay then.
Eb: So, it's me who'll die first!
Guillaume: Let's go upstairs?
Eb: I'm following you, Guillaume.
Guillaume: Let's go!
Eb: Hi Grandma, it's Eb.
We're in a peaceful place right now and I'm
trying to connect with you
I ask for your blessing and to protect us
from any negative energy that might be here.
Thank you for watching over us,
I love you.
Eb: The darker it is, the scarier it is,
the denser the energy.
Guillaume: It's time to go!
Eb: It's time to leave!
Honestly, we've pushed our luck already!
This strange experience leaves us both with a funny
feeling so to lighten the mood I decided to
bring Guillaume to a purification session.
Eb: What do you think of people telling you that
you're lucky to always be travelling?
Guillaume: People often tell me that,
and you too probably, as well as everyone
who's decided to build their
their life around travelling, that:
"You're always gone, always travelling!
You're so lucky!" You know, I don't
easily get angry, but the word "lucky"
really gets to me. It fires me up, I get upset!
But, at the same time, it's a bit
our fault for not always showing all the work that goes
behind what we do, to get a taste of what we see.
We won't always show it.
People around us end up just seeing the
beautiful pictures with an idyllic scenery, but I think
they still need to understand that luck doesn't exist
The only luck we have is to be healthy and to be born
in a place where bombs are not falling on our heads.
We're lucky enough to be born in a place where we
can pursue our projects, our ambitions and our dreams,
but the rest, it's not luck. We work hard!
I've built my life around travelling.
I've made many sacrifices to be able to live like this,
so I wish people who say that I'm lucky could
follow me for a week at work. They would
probably take back their words afterwards.
Eb: You've literally took the words out of my mouth
and explained what's so difficult to put into
into words most of the time.
Thank you for being able to verbalize it.
Eb: Okay guys, for our last night in Canggu,
I have a room here on Trivago for $22,
it's cheap! Is it good?
How much do you have?
Guillaume: The equivalent of $16.
Eb: Okay, I have like a $4 contribution.
Guillaume: Stef, do you have some money?
Eb: Overbudget! Yeah!
Guillaume: Thank you Stef, at least you're good for something!
Stefan: I'll take my money back then!
Eb: We're excited right now!
Guillaume: I've been travelling for 10 years and
I've always wanted to try dune buggy.
It's bucket list time!
Eb: Ready!
Eb: For me, Nomad Generation is part of a larger
social movement and the word "Generation" says it all.
How do you think our generation is different from
the more traditional generation of our parents?
Guillaume: Our generation, the millennials,
as we often hear about, good or bad,
wants to live now.
We have less desire for, as we would say,
"save money for a rainy day."
We want to live now, take the bull by the horns,
seize the day, now! We don't want to work 60 years
at a job that we don't like only to be able to live later.
Later, well, something else will come up.
We're always going to find a way,
because I think that our generation is
extremely resourceful and we're going to find
a way to make make a future for ourselves, to build a
foundation for the future. But, we,
the nomadic generation, what differentiates us, is that
we want to live now: to travel the world,
meet new people!
I want to die exhausted.
I want to die like:
"Wow, I had a crazy good run!"
I want to share those experiences with my children,
I want them to live it too,
if not more than me!
Eb: That's what we call, living now!
Eb : Wow!
Eb: For real, Guillaume, I didn't expect anything
less than an extremely eventful episode with you,
I wasn't disappointed! The flyboard and now,
the buggy that we've just scratched off your bucket list,
it was crazy!
Guillaume: BluTours activities were just epic!
Eb: Yep!
Guillaume: Yeah!
Eb: Yeah!
Like any good trip,
this one with Guillaume is changing me.
I'm slowly learning to push my limits, to listen
to myself more, to be proud of my accomplishments
and to choose my words carefully regarding my lifestyle.
As Guillaume said,
I'm not lucky to have chosen to live these experiences,
I work hard to enjoy all these moments,
but I still consider myself lucky to have such good
friends with whom I can share these moments with!
Guillaume: In my opinion, travelling is to
immerse oneself with others, to discover,
to laugh, to cry! It's a time to celebrate life.
I want to taste every flavour of it; I want to bite into it!
To me, that's what travelling is all about!
