Youtube daily report w Feb 23 2018

Tesla: one of the biggest names in the automotive industry.

From the slick designs of their cars to their promise of a renewable future, Tesla has truly

taken the world by storm.

Today, the mere mention of Tesla instantly evokes the image of one man: Elon Musk, the

closest real-life equivalent to Tony Stark.

You may have heard of him from his plans to take humans to Mars to colonize the planet,

or from his Boring Company, which plans to build a hyperloop between New York and Washington

DC.

But for almost everyone, Elon Musk is synonymous with Tesla.

Today's story, however, isn't about Elon.

Instead it's about a man you've probably never heard of before, despite the fact that

he was the true driving force behind the company.

His name?

Martin Eberhard.

Despite what the mainstream media would have you believe, it was Martin who originally

founded Tesla, and today's episode is dedicated to his story.

The year is 1997.

Martin had spent a decade working as an electrical engineer when he met his future business partner

Marc Tarpenning.

Several sessions of "Magic: The Gathering" later and the pair were already planning their

first business venture: an ebook reader.

In just three short years, NuvoMedia, the company they created, had sold 20,000 e-readers,

and they sold off their stake in it for a comfortable $187 million.

With a bright future ahead of them, the two entrepreneurs decided to shift their focus

to electric sports cars.

But how does one make the leap from ebook readers to electric sports cars?

In one word: divorce.

You see, Martin had gotten divorced in 2000, and befitting of any rich 40-year-old stuck

in a midlife crisis, he wanted to buy himself a sports car.

However, he couldn't get himself to buy any of those uncivilized gas guzzlers running

wild on the streets.

This conundrum got him thinking, and eventually he approached his old buddy Marc with an elegant

proposition: building an electric sports car.

Together in 2003 they began work on what would eventually be the Roadster, the first car

of their new company, Tesla.

Instead of relying on the traditional combustion engine, Martin and Marc had the groundbreaking

idea to utilize lithium ion batteries, a technology they had discovered in their ebook days.

But, of course, building everything from the ground up wasn't a realistic possibility.

Instead they partnered up with two companies: AC Propulsion, a motor company from California,

and Lotus, a British car manufacturer.

AC Propulsion had built a small electric car called the tzero, which was fully electric

and could go from 0 to 60 miles per hour in 4 seconds, a feat that no other electric car

at the time could accomplish.

Martin struck a deal with AC Propulsion to use their motor technology, but he still needed

an actual car to place the motor in.

This is where Lotus came in.

One of their models, the Lotus Elise, ticked all the right boxes; it was small, speedy,

and sporty.

So Martin and Marc made their way to the Los Angeles Auto Show, where they kept pestering

Lotus until "a very polite British man" finally gave them the time of day.And yes,

we are very nice on this side of the pond, or at least our friends say that we are.

Now where were we?

With a car to work on and cutting edge technology to implement, Tesla Motors began development

in earnest.

By mid-2004, however, the company's coffers were running dry.

Martin and Marc had been able to bootstrap the company for its first year, and they were

even able to get some modest investments from a few venture capitalists, but to get the

Roadster into production, Tesla needed some serious funds.

And I know what you're thinking, a car company having trouble getting started?

How ironic, what a surprise.

But, that's where the man, the myth, the legend of Elon Musk comes into play.

Musk had just sold PayPal to eBay and was sitting on a nice big pile of money, $7.5

million of which he invested into Tesla after meeting with Martin and Marc.

Musk would go on to invest $70 million into Tesla by 2008, but it was still the iconic

duo who were at the helm.

Thanks to Musk's initial capital injection, Tesla successfully made a great leap forward

in November 2004 when it built its first prototype, a Lotus Elise outfitted with AC Propulsion

technology.

The "Mule," as they called it, ran like a charm and floored the engineers with its

performance.

Tesla continued its R&D, taking another two years to officially debut the Roadster.

Finally, on July 19th, 2006, the product of all that hard work was unveiled in Santa Monica.

The Roadster cost a whopping $100,000, but people were lining up to throw money at Tesla.

Within two weeks of the Roadster's debut, 127 cars had been sold.

While Roadsters didn't actually roll off the production lines until 2008, Tesla was

a massive success and the first successful car startup in decades.

Internally, however, not all was all fine and dandy.

Tensions were building up between Elon and Martin for reasons we will likely never know.

All we do know is that in August 2007, Martin got a call from a very nervous-sounding Musk.

On that call, Martin learned that the Tesla board had met without him and had decided

to oust him as CEO.

Oh dear.

He had been essentially kicked out of his own company.

Technically, he'd been demoted to President of Technology, but he knew what that really

meant.

He later told Business Insider, "I didn't get to hear what they said.

I didn't get to defend myself.

I felt totally stranded."

He eventually resigned, of course, and so did Marc.

In 2009, Martin sued Tesla for attempting to "rewrite history," arguing that Musk

was trying to take credit for what Martin and Marc had done.

The suit also noted that the company was purposely and inaccurately portraying Elon as the founder,

which as we know today is something almost everyone believes.

Elon, not one to lie down without a fight, filed a countersuit, and later that year,

Martin dropped the charges.

It appears that he and Musk settled out of court, and that's probably why the whole

affair remains shrouded in mystery.

Needless to say, the two no longer speak.

Of course, there's no doubt that both men contributed heavily to Tesla becoming what

it is today, but it does seem a bit unfair that Martin has been completely eclipsed by

the enigmatic Musk.

Perhaps this is the inevitable fate of any company with a charismatic co-founder.

(Here's looking at you, Steve Jobs!)

Still, the fact remains that Tesla wouldn't be the automotive superstar it is today without

the brilliance and perseverance of Martin Eberhard and Marc Tarpenning, the real heroes

of Tesla.

Without the partnership of these two men, Tesla wouldn't exist today, and Elon Musk

wouldn't have had a car to send to Mars.

There we are, thank you for watching everyone, I hope you enjoyed this sort of soft reboot

Could You Land An Airplane In An Emergency By Yourself? - Duration: 5:57.

Let's say you are flying from Berlin to New York City.

For some ungodly reason, both the pilot and copilot are unconscious, perhaps after drinking

a strange brew delivered to them by a sadistic villain that has a fondness for cats.

The passengers are a hysterical mess, and you volunteer to land the plane.

According to one pilot when interviewed, you'd have a chance, but you'd have to be on your

game and likely not be cursed with having a less than very good attention span.

Could you do it?

First all all, what kind of plane are you trying to land?

A 640 seat Boeing 747 400 or a small six-seater?

Let's start with the small plane, and we can pretend we have Justin Bieber and co in

the back, and you are the brave bodyguard, albeit with no acumen for flying planes.

There would also only be one pilot.

Let's say the plane is fine and you still have contact with air traffic control.

Without that, you are all probably 'fudged'.

You tell air traffic control the situation, the pilot's totally unconscious.

You'd tell them "mayday" just so they know the gravity of the situation.

You are faced with what looks like a cornucopia of switches and buttons and knobs, and you

don't know what any of them do.

Luckily for you, there are just a few very important things you need to know.

That is your height, speed, and your flight profile.

According to an aviation website, this is a graph which gives you a "step-by-step

depiction of a maneuver or phase of flight" (http://www.aviationchatter.com/2009/02/what-is-a-flight-profile/).

It's basically the instructions for what you have to do to land safely.

According to the pilot, obviously, don't panic.

Don't pull the nose down and head for ground just yet.

Just keep going until air traffic tells you that you are close to a place you can land.

If you can see the windsock at the airport, you'll know which way the wind is blowing,

and it's safer and easier to land into the wind.

With the wind behind you, you could land too quickly and that's where all the deathly

kind of things happen.

Now you are going to have to listen to control so you know what buttons to push.

Lower the plane to the end of the landing strip, bring out the first flap, and lower

it about 30 to 40 degrees.

This will make the wing bigger, slow you down, and improve your landing angle.

You want to be hitting the runway about a third of the way down.

Pull the plane up a bit so you feel you will not just go head first into the tarmac.

When you are down, hit the brakes, which are located above the pedals.

When you are stopped, turn off the engine.

You just saved a pop star.

According to the pilot, without someone explaining which button is which, you'd likely not

have a chance.

So, what if it was a massive passenger plane and you are the only one on that plane with

the gumption to try and land it?

This question comes up a lot on aviation forums, and pilots are there to answer.

First of all, you'd have to hope you could get into the cockpit.

The good news is, you probably have a much better chance at saving 500 people as you

did trying to keep Bieber safe.

This is because your highly advanced plane has an instrument landing system, aka ILS.

One pilot said that getting to the airport and landing should be a "piece of cake"

because the ILS is in control.

You'd still have to tell air traffic control what's going on, and just hope to God you

don't have to go manual because of horrible weather or unforeseen emergencies.

You will need to set the ILS after speaking with those on the ground.

As another pilot says, without autopilot, your chances are very, very slim, unless you

have some training.

Another pilot said you'd never even get into the cockpit, because the cabin crew wouldn't

allow you to.

If anything, they'd take over as some have even learned basic flying skills in their

training.

The show Mythbusters actually allowed a bunch of amateurs to try and land a plane and all

failed.

Everyone virtually died.

But when air traffic control was allowed to help, there was success.

Another pilot points out something very important, and that is how to use the microphone to actually

talk to those down below.

You must toggle the switches until you can get through, otherwise you are doomed.

He explained that you'd have to get low enough to "attach the aircraft systems to

the runway landing system", set the flight management systems for your approach, and

also set the auto-brakes.

You'd have to follow a lot of directions to do this, and to paraphrase him, if you

needed to land without the use of autopilot, you're definitely going to end-up on one

of YouTube's 'World's Worst Plane Crashes' videos.

You might be pleased to know this has never happened in aviation history, at least in

a large passenger plane.

It's happened a bunch of times since the year 2000, however, in small aircraft.

Each of the instances we could find, with the aid of air traffic control, the plane

was landed safely, albeit one time crash-landed and another time the plane was damaged.

In each case, everyone on the plane survived.

Oh, except in two cases the passed-out pilots died later in the hospital due to the reason

they passed-out in the first place.

So, do you think you could land an airplane in a pinch?

Why or why not?

I would also like to hear from you which What If topics you would like me to do in the future

HOW TO ADJUST FORK AND REAR SHOCK OF THE MTB - Duration: 8:28.

Hello guys today let's see how to adjust the suspension of our mountain bike, first of all we must understand if in our

Fork and air or spring as we show? let's see from this thing here we have an example of two bikes

one, with a fork

spring-loaded and one with the air fork, the air fork has a valve

inside a cap like this

and he has a valve like that

of the tube valve america is called

while the spring fork only has an external register in this way

Not, it regulates more or less hard. The forks must be calibrated according to our weight but also based on our guide why

not all of us drive the same way, so basically

one, less expert, I recommend the fork

Slightly softer while a more expert in the guide I recommend the fork

Slightly harder. The first thing to see and know your weight and let's see on the table that is written on the fork

let's make an example, I weigh 75 kg they tell you 72 81

125 140 psi

On the 80mm and 85 100 forks on the 100 120 fork

to inflate our fork do not use either a pump or a compressor I recommend but it takes this tool

here it is called a high pressure pump and specially

Created to use our mountain bike forks and shock absorbers

ok the first thing to do e

inflate

As indicated in the table at the recommended pressure

This is the fork from 100 so I basically recommend to inflate at 70 85 psi

Ok inflated in the pressure indicated, from the house we try the famous Sag, climb up the bike

putting this signal at the bottom of this sign and mount a bicycle without it

Push then slowly climb on the bike and try to send down a fork only for our weight then

let's go back

and as you can see we have this space

That's about 25 percent of all

The ride and this is a perfect calibration like sinking like Sag, if your fork

mounting above results

the signal the highest means that it is deflated so you have to recharge it there

remember that you have to load the fork at least once a month to be sure if it shows signal at the bottom

Not, it moves means that the fork is too swollen and therefore you have to deflate

half to the pressure indicated in the table

I have recently tried a fork of a guy who makes enduro races at national and international level so one who walks

I got on it and it was quite tough compared

At my standard, he also weighs about 75 kg. like me though, it keeps you harder because

Going strong

The fork must be more responsive so if, but perhaps it is a bit harder

It is more reactive and therefore considers more afloat than a calibration

standard however I recommend you

always stay with the standard settings that tell them why the bike

If it is very stiff and much harder to drive it is clearly secret, as He says my expert friend

And that you have to move your arms. Legs not only make the bicycle work because

It would not make sense so if one wants to go strong he has to start working both in arms and legs

in addition to suspensions

same, this also applies to suspension for the shock absorber

Also here we have a signal indicating the Sag so we must always stay

on a 25 percent of the maximum shock travel

It always inflates the same way and that here we have a plug to inflate it and then we have the register

Of the return here the register. Of the return it is necessary for

Braking the return more or less fast what it means means that if a fork comes back slowly

It always remains closed if a fork returns too fast

you have this blow that you get on the handlebars and then a little annoying we have to look

To find a middle ground, I advise you to stay on

unbridled on three quarters

So not all unbridled but about three quarters then the other advice that there

Do and if you are a beginner who just started riding a mountain bike,

calibrate the suspension as they tell you to series then when you are more experienced, you will be faster to

Address both the descents and the obstacles there

You will realize yourself that you must have a fork

Slightly harder to get a better response from suspensions is very important

The other thing before adjusting the suspensions

And adjust well The tire pressure because the tire is the first thing

amortizes the first from the fork another secret that wants to unveil for more performance

from suspensions

Verify that our bicycle is balanced. In the sense that the center of the bike

More or less and this means. In the middle between the two wheels

This is not the center of the pedals but then forward. We if we push in this area here

the bike

must sink

Same both in front and behind

As you can see this bike fine tuned

Both front and back

sinks

in the same way

same then if the rear shock absorber

It sinks more than the front one

It means that it is unloaded and therefore must be inflated viceversa if it sinks more The fork with respect to the shock absorber

you have to inflate the fork the return must be regulated below

Here is a lever, we record the return

What is the return is this that sends the fork back

ok

return compression the fork must return quickly not too slow and then I repeat

I

I would recommend you

a return

Regulated three-quarters regards means in the sense

unbridled to the maximum let's go back a quarter what I'm explaining is an example

Standard of regulations. Of the fork

Then later there are also other ways to adjust the fork to the maximum, but let's say a lot to give you

A flourish to understand how the calibration works and it is useless to buy a high-end bike if later we are not able to regulate

the fork and the shock absorber

it's like buying

a high-end camera

And we use it automatically instead of using it manually. I hope I have also been helpful in this tutorial

Put a like if you liked this video I recommend subscribe to my DIY bike channel

see you at the next tutorial hello guys

This year there will certainly be no drought problems, not a cow. Stop more. More to have here?

Video Game Weapons That Work In Real Life - Duration: 5:01.

Many video game weapons are so bizarre and incredible, we figure there's no way technology

will ever make them real.

And yet, there are plenty with real-life counterparts, some of which really blur the line between

fact and fiction.

Just try to fight the urge to build these yourself.

Squall's Gunblade

Most gamers thought it would be super-cool to wield a gunblade like Squall's in Final

Fantasy 8 from the first moment it appeared.

Of course, it's hard to imagine that a weapon like that would have any real-world applications

besides looking cool, but it turns out that pistol swords were very real throughout history

— and we're not just talking simple bayonets.

"Advance!

EN GARDE!

AHHHHHHH!"

Pistol swords and knives existed in France and Germany, dating back to the 1500s.

Even though these combined weapons seem pretty cool, they weren't widely used, due to both

the expense of slapping two weapons together, and how one part of the weapon would make

the other part completely unwieldy...sort of like a camera phone.

But not, like, a good one:

"What is this?"

"The hell?"

"Why does the phone have a camera go through it?"

"It's a camera phone.

Jermaine wanted one for his birthday."

"Where'd you get it?"

"I made it.

It's homemade."

"Yeah, it's a piece of s---!"

"Well, how come Jermaine likes it so much?"

"You can have it."

Still, at least they look pretty dang cool.

Tira's Ringblade

SoulCalibur's Tira likes to use a giant, bladed ring as a deadly hula hoop/sword combination.

The weapon might seem silly, but the ringblade is actually a giant chakram, a ring that can

be tossed through the air and cut with its sharp blades.

Remember Xena: Warrior Princess?

Turns out, parts of it were totally real.

Chakrams were used by ancient Sikhs, and were worn on the arm before being spun on a finger

and then flung at an enemy.

These bladed rings were more than capable of cutting through a man, and they seem a

lot more dangerous than daggers, since they would continue to slice into flesh upon impact.

It probably works best if you make this noise, though.

"Shya!

AY YAI YAI YAI YAI!"

The Demon Sword of Paracelsus

Sure, it has one of the coolest names ever, but also one of the most misleading, since

it's not, y'know, an actual sword.

This weapon from Resident Evil 3 is, however, a railgun, and while we might never use a

railgun against undead monstrosities, there are real-world, non-zombie-related applications

for such a device.

The US Navy actually crafted a $500 million electromagnetic railgun after a decade of

development.

It requires its own small power plant to send a 25-pound projectile flying at speeds of

up to 4500 miles per hour — which makes it both a hefty investment and a power hog.

"They missed."

C. Viper's Stun Glove

Crimson Viper from Street Fighter 4 is a badass femme fatale who exhibits a shocking grasp

when it comes to fights.

But you don't have to be a World Warrior to wield one of these bad boys, because it seems

as if people make stun gloves all the time online.

One aspiring crimefighter even created a glove that can stun, has a laser pointer, a flashlight,

and an armored sleeve.

The device was so impressive, that none other than Kevin "Waterworld" Costner invested in

it.

That said, we don't recommend crafting any zap-gloves and electrocuting folks for no

good reason.

Johnny Law might have something to say about it.

"Shocking."

Cloud's Buster Sword

Even though he physically shouldn't have been able to, Cloud Strife wielded the comically-large

Buster Sword in Final Fantasy Seven.

While no one handled anything as cartoonishly big in real life, zweihanders were pretty

much the real-life equivalent of the Buster Sword.

These two-handed weapons had large blades, but could still be swung around effectively

by guiding the blade with a hand near the hilt and one on near the pommel.

These greatswords could be used to fight multiple combatants, usually to defend a point like

a door.

Sadly, as cool as these weapons are, we see no room for Materia slots — so no thanks.

Bouncing Betty

In Borderlands 2, Bouncing Betties are modified grenades that pop up and send projectiles

flying everywhere.

Just in case you thought these weapons were complete works of fiction, believe it or not,

they actually existed back in World War II.

The S-Mines, or Bouncing Betties as they were known to American forces, were dug into the

ground by German forces and would pop up when triggered, sending shrapnel flying everywhere.

Like most weapons used in past wars, these mines were highly devastating.

They were sort of like the traps in Home Alone, but, slightly less hilarious.

"Heads up!"

"Then the main charge exploded, sending 350 steel balls in all directions."

"Ahhhhhh!"

Tesla Before Elon: The Untold Story - Duration: 9:59.

Bastiaan can't eat after using Ecstasy | Drugslab - Duration: 10:22.

My jaw is completely... This is torture. I'm not kidding.

Hi, I'm Bastiaan. -And I'm Rens.

And welcome... -In our Drugslab.

In this lab... You wanted to do it. -I wanted to, but go ahead.

In this lab we test various drugs to see how it affects our body.

If you think we should try a certain drug, leave a comment.

Today is going to be a party, because many people were curious about... XTC.

It's your turn today. We've done XTC before on this show, but you haven't.

You have done MDMA. -That's right, but not XTC.

This is our XTC. It comes in different shapes and strengths.

We have a 'SIM card' of 180 mg. The active ingredient is MDMA.

You never know how strong a pill is, so have your pills tested, like we do.

Your zero values are on the board. They look good.

I have the feeling that XTC is the most widely used party drug.

That makes sense. It lasts long at parties.

You feel euphoric, energetic, and it makes you want to dance.

And you feel connected with people.

People often assume that XTC also contains speed...

but that's not true. XTC doesn't contain speed.

If it contains speed, it's not XTC, but a contaminated pill.

It's the same as MDMA, but in pill form. -Using XTC is never without risk.

A guideline for a dosage is 1-1.5 mg of MDMA per kilogram body weight.

How heavy are you? -73, but I've gained some weight, so 74.

You do look a bit chubbier. We're going to take half a pill, 90 mg.

That's perfect for you. Taking too much only enhances the negative effects...

such as: forgetfulness, clenched jaws, nausea, and confusion.

That's not pleasant. -Okay, here we go.

There's no way back. -Nope.

Time for an update. How do you feel? -I feel it's starting to kick in.

My mouth is dry and when I look at something it's blurry at first.

I can tell by your eyes, they're dilated.

Look at your heart rate. -My temperature has also gone up.

Is it a nice feeling? -It is, but I feel a bit apprehensive.

It often feels a bit uncomfortable when it begins to kick in.

Your heart rate goes up and a lot is happening.

You're starting to smile.

MDMA mainly affects your dopamine and serotonin levels.

MDMA increases the release and slows the reuptake of serotonin.

Serotonin makes you feel happy and it affects your body temperature.

That's why your temperature has gone up.

Dopamine is released as a reward. It makes you feel good and energetic.

XTC floods your brain with serotonin, which depletes your serotonin level.

Your body has to make more serotonin, but the next few days...

you might feel miserable and down, which is called the 'Tuesday Blues'.

That's brought on by a lack of serotonin.

If your serotonin levels are too high because you took too much XTC...

you can get the serotonin syndrome, which is dangerous and unpredictable.

In certain cases it can lead to death, so we highly discourage that.

I have clammy hands, look. -They're even wet.

I'm constantly gnawing my jaw. My jaw is completely like this...

Very confronting.

Is it an unpleasant sight? -I'm unpleasant to look at now.

Do you feel happier now? -A little bit.

Maybe I need to dance to feel better.

He's smiling straight away.

I'm cold.

XTC can make you feel cold...

because it constricts blood vessels and tightens muscles.

Don't dress too warmly and take breaks when you dance...

even though you may feel cold, your body is working hard and warm.

Take breaks to cool off on time to prevent your body from overheating.

And 1-2 glasses of water per hour. -Exactly.

Drinking too much water can cause? -Water intoxication.

MDMA makes the body retain water and causes difficulty urinating.

That's why you shouldn't drink too much.

The excessive fluid in your body can go to your brain.

This makes your brain swell, which can cause a fatal cerebral oedema.

So don't drink more than 1-2 glasses of water per hour.

Or soda. -Soda is fine too.

XTC makes you experience things more intensely, like physical contact.

But also the way how you taste things, because your taste buds are sensitive.

That's why I brought you a tasty tangerine.

I like the sour taste.

This is what I was afraid of, it's not tasty anymore.

The tangerine is all broken up now. Gross.

You don't like it? -No.

We also have Pop Rocks. It looks like pink MDMA.

It's not though, to be clear.

This feels so weird.

You can hear it popping in your ear, but it was a nice feeling.

I have another treat, a rusk with peanut butter.

It's dry and you have a very dry mouth. -I won't be able to eat that.

Let's see who can finish it first, okay?

Why are we doing this?

I can't even talk anymore. It's making everything stick together.

Everything is stuck together. -I can see that.

I can't swallow it.

It won't slide down my throat. It won't go away.

This is torture. I'm really not kidding.

I give up. I'm not going on. I'm out.

What's this? -I can't get it down.

What's this? -I've really had enough.

Wait.

Bastiaan is spitting it out now.

It was torture. I couldn't swallow it. It got stuck everywhere. Everywhere.

This might cheer you up. It's better to eat some ice-cream.

Someone appears to be happy. Just look at his face.

It's always a good idea to eat something when you use XTC.

It's good to eat some broth. -Or smoothies.

Smoothies are good. A broth is good for sodium.

What's interesting about MDMA is that it was once used for therapy...

and they want to start using it again. -I read about that.

Can you imagine using XTC for therapy?

I can. It helps you to talk and express your anxieties.

The setting plays an important role.

If you use it at a party, you get lost in the music and dance.

But in a home setting, it can have a therapeutic effect.

It helps you have good conversations and feel connected with the other.

XTC won't take away your depression. It will make you feel worse afterwards.

If you feel miserable or uncomfortable with yourself...

seek help first and go to your GP instead of experimenting with XTC.

XTC can trigger psychoses, anxiety attacks, and depressions, so be careful.

What do you want to do? -Play with Play-Doh.

Really? Go ahead and play.

Shall I make you? -Yes, do that.

This feels really weird. -XTC can affect your sense of touch.

What does it feel like? -Very soft, like rubber.

Can you concentrate properly? -Yes, I enjoy doing this. It's finished.

I think if someone were to make you out of clay, you would look like that.

That's true. It's like looking in a mirror.

XTC is often mixed with other drugs, but it places a great strain on your body.

So we highly discourage that, because it's risky and unpredictable.

How do you feel now? -Good.

You're feeling fine, aren't you? -Yes.

It'll last a while longer. It can last 4-6 hours before it slowly wears off.

I wonder how I'll feel tomorrow and whether I'll be able to sleep.

I'm curious if you'll get the 'Tuesday blues'.

Are we going to watch that now? -Yes.

I'm knackered. I slept horribly. I didn't fall asleep until 8 am.

That means I only slept two hours. It was a horrible night.

I was tossing and turning all night, but couldn't fall asleep.

I'm going to sleep some more to see if I'll feel better.

Luckily I'm off today and have nothing planned.

I can't even string a sentence together, so I'm going to go to bed.

It's two days later. It's half past three. I feel fine, no problems, no hangover.

I'm glad, because I expected to feel miserable.

It's sunny, so I'm going to get changed and sit on a terrace with friends.

Doctors Tell Mom Down Syndrome Baby Is Useless, 33 Years Later Girl Proves How Wrong They Were - Duration: 2:59.

Doctors Tell Mom Down Syndrome Baby Is Useless, 33 Years Later Girl Proves How Wrong They

Were

For decades, children with downs syndrome were encouraged to be aborted by doctors because

it was thought they wouldn't be able to live a healthy life like all children.

Iceland made headlines last year for nearly eliminating down syndrome within its borders.

This is a chilling admission because it means that many children have been aborted.

Thirty years ago in Cambridge, England, Mirka Anderson, who is originally from Poland, was

pregnant with a little girl she'd name Emma.

Mirka didn't have the usual health screenings.

She learned after her daughter's birth some shocking and surprising news from a staff

member at Rosie Hospital.

"The consultant told me and my then husband she had Down's Syndrome," Mirka told Cambridge

News.

"She said, 'You don't have to take her home because she won't do anything anyway.'"

Horrified by the doctor's flippant and insensitive attitude, Mirka took Emma home.

She wasn't going to abandon her.

Throughout Emma's life, Mirka fought to ensure she received an equal education like

all other children.

Emma flourished; she earned a General Certificate of Secondary Education in art, proving to

the naysayers she could be successful: "When she was younger, we were told she couldn't

go to a normal playgroup with other children," Mirka explained to the Royston Crow.

"I pushed for her to go to the mainstream group, and in the end, she did.

"I am from communist Poland, so we are used to jumping red tape.

Throughout her schooling, all I asked for was for her to be given a chance."

Finally, in 2005, Mirka's persistence paid off.

Emma was attending Cambridge regional College; a staffer there entered some of the young

woman's art in a competition at Tate Modern art gallery — and it won.

Emma was one of only two students chosen to have her art featured in the prestigious gallery.

"It was very damaging as a mother who had just given birth to be told your baby is a

useless piece of flesh," Mirka said.

"Look at her now.

She's a super kid."

After hearing about Emma's development and success, a spokesman for Rosie Hospital said,

"We are extremely surprised and concerned to hear about these comments, and we would,

even though it is over 33 years ago, invite Mrs. Anderson to contact us to discuss her

experience.

"We are, of course, delighted to see Emma's achievement of having her artwork displayed

at the Tate Modern."

Of course, you are.

But perhaps the adage "too little, too late" is best inserted here.

Well done, Emma!

"Ahhhhhh!"

How To Iron Dress Pants - Ironing Series Part III - Gentleman's Gazette - Duration: 13:06.

Welcome back to the Gentleman's Gazette and part three of our ironing series.

Today we discuss how to press trousers or iron dress pants.

Why do men shy away from ironing their own pants?

They perceive it as being quite difficult.

Most dress pants are made of the wool and it's very easy to end up with a shiny pair

of pants that looks cheap and worn out.

On top of that, ironing the pleats in the right way and especially the rise and the

area on top are not easy things but they're definitely manageable.

Unlike with a dress shirt, with pants, we usually iron several layers on top of each

other which can cause additional difficulties and wrinkles and it's definitely a pain in

the ass.

In this video, we share little tips and tricks how to avoid that and how to get the perfect

crease every time.

So how do I iron pants?

It all starts with the prep work.

Of course, you need an ironing table and iron.

On top of that I suggest to invest into a sleeve board with a wider end and a slimmer

end, a spray bottle, a cloth as well as a clapper which is a wooden block.

In addition to that, you can add a tailor's ham which looks like a cushion but is actually

filled with sawdust.

It's very stiff it helps to get the round areas in the garment ironed perfectly.

Now while the damp cloth protects your wool pants from getting shiny, you can also invest

in a Teflon under sole and that way you don't have to use the cloth and it's much easier

to iron that way because you can be more accurate because you can always see what's going on.

To learn more about all the equipment I use and where you can find it please check out

our first guide here.

When it comes to pants, wool is much more wrinkle resistant than

cotton.

So if you're just starting out, I suggest start with wool first.

If you have a pair of brown dress pants which are part of a suit.

Typically I start at the top part of the trousers which is also known as the rise.

Because pants are tailored to fit your round body there are not long stretches of fabric

and it's all a detail work just like with shirts.

A vacuum ironing board can really help to get better results more easily because it

sucks out all the moist air.

For best pants ironing results you want to iron as few layers as possible simply because

when you iron steam is trapped at a bottom layer which creates wrinkles there.

So it's kind of a never-ending cycle ironing on the one side and getting wrinkles on the

other.

With just an ironing board use the waist of your pants and pull it over the board that

way you have a roughly flat surface and it's easy to do the detail work.

As you can see you get a little waves in the fabric and you have to constantly stretch

with your left hand when you iron it with your right.

Now if you want to make it easier on yourself and get even better results, use a sleeve

board because that helps to drape things around.

On top of that you can use a so called tailor's ham and that has a rounded shape just like

your body and because of that it's very easy to iron because you don't have an excess fabric

of waves and the result is stunning.

A sleeve board just cost about twenty bucks and the tailor's ham about ten so it's really

a wise investment in my opinion.

If you have pleated pants you want the creases to be really sharp.

To achieve that you want to use a so-called clapper it's nothing but a piece of wood usually

oak that is not varnished and not stained and it doesn't have sap.

It helps to remove the excess moisture and simply creates a very smooth crisp result.

You can also use it in areas where you see wrinkles or waves because there's simply too

much steam.

If you're concerned about ending up with shiny trousers always add a damp cloth in between.

It could be an old t-shirt that has been washed for many times in any case you want something

that's lint-free.

I'm using a linen handkerchief.

Once I've made my way around ironing one pant leg I pull over the other one and finish all

the way around.

The areas in your belt loops are just iron it with the tip and you have to be very delicate

and just lift your iron many times you don't have continuous motions.

With a little practice you'll be an expert in no time especially if you invest in a sleeve

board and a tailor's ham.

Now this tailor's ham is very small.

You can also find larger professional versions but they cost usually two to three hundred

dollars which is too much for my use at home.

For a source of professional tailor's hams please check out our website here.

Once I'm done with the top part of the pants it's time for the legs.

First of all I lay down the pants with the hems facing my iron.

I'm trying to find the existing crease and iron over it again.

I also wanna make sure the bottom layer of the pant leg is laid flat as possible.

You may have to wiggle it around a little bit to find the perfect crease so it's exactly

where it was before.

Now inside at the bottom a vacuum table really helps to get the better crease and to iron

your pants much faster.

Again in order to get that perfect crispness, you want the clapper.

Once I'm done with the front pleat of the pant leg I iron that little part of the pants

very carefully because I don't want to create any wrinkles on the outside or the backside

of the pant leg.

Once I'm done with that and everything is flat I can look at the back crease.

This one is a little more difficult because there's no pleat on top.

Again I use the same steps - Iron and press then clap, iron and press then clap.

Once I'm done with a pant leg I unroll the top layer and flip the pants around and repeat

the procedure.

First iron the front pleat of the other pant leg depending on where it's sewn inward or

outward I sometimes also start in a different way so I can easily get that crease started

well.

Really getting that crease right it's probably the most difficult thing but once you have

a clapper you get a really crisp and by moving fabric around and using your hand to assist

your ironing hand you'll always get the exact same line.

Of course cotton is much more prone to wrinkling than wool and because of that it's harder

to iron especially as a pair of pants.

Also it's more difficult to iron a dry pair of cotton pants instead of a wet one.

Of course you don't want it to be too wet and if you have a dry pair of pants simply

spray it with water put it in a plastic bag for 10-15 minutes and then iron.

It'll make life much easier for you.

So what do you do if let's say your chinos do not have pleats but you want them.

Well first of all keep in mind there must be enough fabric because pleats use up more

fabric than flat front pants.

If there's enough fabric I suggest you fold the pants based on the hem.

Usually you can line up the inside side seams of the pant legs with one another on each

pant leg and that gives you a very good idea of where the crease has to be because ideally

you want to in the middle of the front kneecap.

Honestly the steps are the same.

First I lay out my pants, I fold up one pant leg so I just have one in front of me and

I start ironing the front crease.

Again it can be a little more tricky because cotton has more wrinkles and you have to lie

it really really flat.

If your pants have cuffs I also press those and I get the pleat in there too.

Again use the clapper it will make your life much easier.

Ideally you want the sleeve board and a tailor's ham because it makes it easier to iron around

the rise.

Ironing the middle part of the pant leg on cotton trousers can be a little more tricky

simply because cotton is more prone to wrinkling and it may stick to the ironing board.

Make sure to pull everything nice and flat before you iron over it because if you don't

you'll end up with a wrinkle and it's hard to remove them.

If you encounter a wrinkle either spray the fabric directly or spread a damp cloth and

then go through with your iron.

Make sure to stay in there longer so the water can evaporate, create steam and release the

wrinkle or crease.

Of course if you're done ironing and you see a little wrinkle that you don't want you can

go over it again.

However if the crease is just in a small area I suggest to try to use your sleeve board

to get to it so you can ideally just iron one layer and not two otherwise you may end

up with ironing out one wrinkle and getting another one on the other side and you go back

and forth and it takes you much longer and it's a lot more frustrating.

The sleeve board comes in really handy and it's not just useful for sleeves but for many

other things when it comes to ironing.

Try not to sweep back and forth in fast motions.

Have short motions, controlled motions and always go in the direction of the point of

your iron.

Now steam is essential in ironing to remove wrinkles.

The problem with trousers is you have all these layers so if you just have a regular

ironing board I suggest not to over steam because otherwise you will get ripples and

wavy areas on the other side of the pants that you are just ironed.

Again you don't have to worry about that if you have a vacuum board because it sucks away

all that moist air.

If you end up with too many wrinkles on your pant leg try to reduce the steam and pull

everything nice and flat.

Always remember press as few layers of fabric as possible.

Always bear in mind thicker fabrics are easier to iron than very thin and flimsy ones.

So when you start try to use a thicker wool fabric.

Once you've mastered that you can move on to the thinner fabrics that are much more

prone to wrinkles.

In fact you can even see the pocket lining so you have to be careful in this area because

if you press too much you can see outline off the pocket area on your dress pants and

it's not something you want.

While the crease is relatively easy to achieve on a thin flimsy fabric the middle part of

the leg is a very hard to iron so if you have a vacuum board sometimes you can get away

with just stretching and using the steam function.

If you don't have a vacuum board that's not an option you have instead just lower the

steam setting and try to gently and carefully press the center part of the pant leg.

With a little practice I'm sure that you'll end up with dress pants that are wrinkle free,

very stylish, with a very sharp crease.

If you haven't already done so you might want to check out part one about all the ironing

equipment.

As well as part 2 about how to iron a dress shirt.

Also stay tuned for part four on how to iron a sport coat or a suit jacket.

If you want to see how I iron dress pants with all the intricate details please watch

the long version of the how to iron slacks here.

In this video I am wearing a red, white and blue check shirt with barrel cuffs because

it's easier than French cuffs when you iron.

I also skip the jacket because I wanted a full range of movement so I'm not hindered

when I iron so I just opted for a blue Harris tweed vest I combined it with a Bordeaux red

silk knit tie from Fort Belvedere and a pair of off-white wool flannel winter pants.

White or off white winter flannels are not something you typically see these days but

they were quite popular in the thirties.

My shoes are full brogue derby wingtips in a nice chestnut brown and I combine them with

a pair of light pink and gray socks that provide just enough contrast between the shoes and

the pants.

They're from Fort Belvedere and you can find out all of the accessories in our shop here.

She was more like a beauty queen from a movie scene

I said don't mind, but what do you mean I am the one

She said I am the one

She told me her name was Billie Jean, as she caused a scene

Then every head turned with eyes that dreamed of being the one

Go on dance on the floor in the round

And the people always told me be careful what you do

And don't you go around breaking young girls' hearts

My mother always told me be careful who you love

And be careful what you do because the lie becomes the truth

And Billie Jean is not my lover She's just a girl who thinks that I am the

one But the kid is not my son

But the kid is not my son

She says I am the one

For forty days and for forty nights Law was on her side

But who can stand when she's in demand Her schemes and plans

So take my strong advice, don't think twice

She told me baby we'd danced 'til three Then she looked at me

She showed me a photo of my baby crying His eyes looked like mine

Go on dance on the floor in the round

And people always told me be careful what you do

And don't go around breaking young girls' hearts

And she came and stood right by me And she smelt the sweet perfume

And this happened much too soon She brought me to her room

And Billie Jean is not my lover She's just a girl who thinks that I am the

one But the kid is not my son

But the kid is not my son

She says that I am the one

SIMPLIFY YOUR LIFE + LIVE MINIMALLY // 20 tips to change your life 📄 - Duration: 9:58.

Life is complicated - why not simplify it? In this video, I'm going to share 20

things that you could do to simplify your life and live minimally. These are

things that I've used myself and I think they've worked so I hope they work for

you too. Let's get started. Hello hello! Welcome back to the whole happy life. For

today's video, I'm gonna talk about how you can simplify your life. My co-host

here is kind of half asleep. Pryda is back because of popular request I've

received a lot of requests about including my cats in more videos ,so

here we go. More cats in this video. Let's get started. Number one. The first thing

is to start your day with a daily to-do list which has their top priority items

so when I don't have a list and I don't have a plan for my day I'm kind of all

over the place to simplify things I really need to have a list of things I

need to get done but if you have a long list the to-do list which is 8 to 10

items it can get overwhelming so it's a really good idea to have a shorter list

a list of the high priority items these are basically items that have to get

done and because you've simplified your list you're more likely to stick to it

and not get distracted make breakfast the night before now if you're a morning

person you probably have time to make breakfast in the morning but I'm not

really a morning person and I don't know making breakfast in the morning seems a

bit tedious to make it easier just make breakfast the night before there are a

lot of drape make-ahead recipes out there and that way all you have to do in

the morning is go into your fridge and grab breakfast and goal number 3 choose

our outfit the night before I used to do this one I used to do a corporate job

and it made my life easier because I can't figure out what to wear it's

always oh my gosh I don't have anything to wear what do I do but I would plan my

outfit the night before put it on a hanger it took less than five minutes

because I was in a good state of mind I wasn't in a rush and it became a lot

easier in the mornings because I didn't have to make that added decision of what

am I going to wear stick to fewer handbags this is something I started to

do in the last year I used to have a lot of handbags

when I wasn't living so minimally and it would get complicated moving things from

one handbag to the other now I have one handbag

it's a block tote and I use it for almost everything and it just makes it a

lot easier to move just one handbag use a smaller wallet there was a time when I

had a huge wallet it was big it was bulky it was annoying so now I have a

smaller wallet it probably has five to six cards and I

can't put much in it so I'm forced to declutter it all the time it's just a

lot easier and a lot less complicated number six figure out a few go to a

uniforms what do I mean by this so you know when

you go into your closet and you don't know what to wear it happens all the

time but if you have a few go-to outfits

which I call uniforms you can simplify your life so an example would be

something like let's say a chambray shirt and a pair of black leggings it's

something that's my uniform whenever I don't know what to wear that is my go-to

outfit so make a list of three to four go-to outfits that you like that super

style and on those days when you don't know what to wear go to that list go to

your go-to outfit list and you will get dressed a lot faster number seven

declutter how can I talk about simplifying your life without talking

about decluttering if you declutter your home there's less chaos so I have two

videos on decluttering I'm going to link them in the description box below

number eight deal with paper clutter immediately so when the mail comes in my

tendency in the past was to kind of let it be look at it three weeks later and

sometimes I'd miss a bill or I'd miss something important so now my strategy

is dealing with your paper clutter immediately as soon as the mail comes in

have a look at it put it away throw away the items you don't need and same goes

with magazines and flyers and all those things number nine unsubscribe from

email subscriptions you don't need oh my gosh I have so many email subscriptions

and I've lost track of them and they go into a special folder on my Gmail so

it's not much of a problem but whenever I go into that folder it's just chaos

and I don't like so this year I'm simplifying I'm

unsubscribing from all those emails that I don't need

and I'm also unsubscribing from a lot of the stores that keep sending me coupons

for things because I want to live more minimally I want to buy less so I want

less temptation social media notifications turned them off so I'm

actually doing a month of no social media I'm going to let you guys know how

it went and March once I've finished the month but if social media is

complicating your life you're getting distracted turn off the notifications

that way you decide where you want to go into social media as opposed to being

distracted by those constant notifications turn on app lockers when

you need to get stuff done so I tend to get really really distracted by my phone

lots of social media it's also Google Chrome it's also YouTube so what I

really need to get stuff done like when I need to be productive I turn on this

app Walker called quality time and I can choose which apps I'm not allowed to use

during that time and once I've turned on that app Walker

I have no distractions number 12 don't buy things just because they're on sale

so I had this tendency in the past to buy things because they were on sale hey

it's cheap it's a good deal let's do this but the problem is you end up

buying things that you don't really love so don't buy something just because it's

on sale I'm not saying don't buy things on sale buy something on sale if you

would actually pay full price for it - like you loved it a lot if you love it

that means you should buy it but if you don't love it and we love the price and

that's pretty much all your love don't buy it it's just gonna be more clutter

in your home number 13 make a want list so I used to just buy impulsively if I

wanted something I'd buy it and then it end up with things that I don't really

love so now whenever I want to buy something I think I want to buy it put

it on a list my wants list and I leave that item on the list for at least a

week or two and then I revisit that list if in a week or two I still want that

item that means I really need it or I really love it otherwise I'm just buying

and possibly number 14 established routines now I'm talking about a morning

routine and an evening routine so you might think teens are boring I don't

like routines well you see one of those people too but I've

noticed that when I have something as part of my routine I'm more likely to do

it so for example I used to try to do meditation whenever I got a chance and

it didn't really end up happening now I'm meditation is part of my morning

routine and I do it before I do anything else and because it's part of routine

I'm more likely to do it so think about having a morning and evening routine if

you need ideas there's plenty on YouTube there are a lot of routines out there

number 15 single task so multitasking sounds next but it just isn't effective

I find that when I'm doing too many things at one time I'm not doing

anything properly so now a single task that way I'm doing the work faster and

in more detail and doing it properly the first time round number 16 keep your

decor simple I'm a big believer in having simple minimal decor

not because I'm a minimalist but because it makes cleaning easier dusting can be

really complicated when you have a lot of things but when you have fewer things

in your decor and it's really simple it's a lot easier to clean number 17

tidy up daily so in the past I used to do all of my chores on the weekend so I

would never really tidy up much during the week do the basics like the dishes

things like that I did a lot of my tidying up on the weekend by the time

Friday rolled around my house was pretty much a mess and I don't know I didn't

like living that way so now I try to tidy up every single day

I don't do major hiding of every day just a little bit every single day

number 18 get rid of duplicate photos on your phone immediately so I have a

tendency to take a lot of pictures of my cats and I have a lot of duplicate

photos and they just it's just too much space on my phone so now I try to delete

the photos the extra photos as soon as I can because you know what if I don't do

it now and never getting around to it number 19 limit your communication time

on the phone so in the past I used to go on to my phone whenever I got a whatsapp

message and I would reply to it at that time and the problem with that is I

would get distracted I went on to reply to what

message but then I got onto YouTube and then you know down the rabbit hole so

now I limit my communication time to a block of time every day so every evening

around 8:30 to 9:00 I try to respond to all my messages that's what works for me

try to see what works for you but I find that limiting your communication time

means that you're not going to be constantly distracted by your phone

number 20 and I think this is a really important one learn to say no in the

past I used to say yes to every single commitment that came my way someone

asked me for a favor or if they wanted me to attend something with them I would

say yes and the pond was I was busy I was getting overwhelmed and I still said

yes and it just it was too much was overwhelming it was chaos to simplify

things now I only say yes to things that I really want to do and I don't say yes

just because I feel obligated to do so anyway I hope you enjoyed the video and

you learn something new if you did give it a thumbs up and give a big thumbs up

for the kitty yeah and I will see you in the next video the term for cuddles

mean the pre-sale didn't go didn't go without mistakes so there's definitely

some things we can't improve upon the new website's gonna be have lots of

updates we're gonna be revamping the whole thing on with project showcases to

show all the kinds of products we're making we want to have a blog on there

just to show all the development work we're doing on the platform itself we

are building up the dev team we've got lots of job offers out here in Bristol

so if you're developing here in Bristol yeah have a look let us know so I'm sure

some of you have noticed that there was one wallet that contributed quite a bit

of ether doing the pre-sale and this is actually a group of people that made up

of 8,000 contributors so this is one group putting in lots of ether but then

working together and the way they are structuring the deal is that the

participants of that group they get 30% of the tokens upfront and then the

remaining tokens the remaining tokens are going to vest over a whole year so that means

each month for 12 months everyone gets 1/12 of the tokens they

should be getting so what that means for everyone else is

that the project got lots of funding but the tokens aren't being held by just

one big guide it's being held by 8,000 people if you think about it the whole

presale was only made of around 2000 transactions so we got another 8,000

people to hold tokens and they're not even gonna be able to sell them

straightaway so that means there's lots of people holding lots of tokens that's

a good thing it's yeah it's so incredible to have all of you all over

the world supporting Acorn and I want to thank you guys all again the

whole team is incredibly grateful and so excited about what's coming up next so
