Study Finds Having Your Tonsils Removed May Increase Your Risk Of Developing 28 Types

Of Disease

from 1.2 million Danish children between 1979 and 1999, 60,400 of which had a tonsillectomy,

adenoidectomy or a combined surgery and found they're at greater risk for multiple diseases.

Has a doctor given this recommendation to your child or a child you know?

More than 530,000 tonsillectomy procedures are performed each year in the United States

alone and in fact, it is one of the most common surgical procedures.

New research is now showing that this operation can put patients at risk for contracting over

28 diseases later in life.

Some might say this is simply common sense, our organs are there for a reason, so maybe

we should be doing everything possible to keep them there and avoid surgery whenever

possible?

Generally, the mainstream approach to medicine is if something is broke, go in and fix it,

or remove it, rarely ever looking at the root cause of the issue and trying to determine

why the symptoms are manifesting this way in the first place.

This study will serve as an excellent guide for doctors to be more mindful with the recommendation

of this surgery and exploring all other options first.

Who Is A Candidate For Tonsillectomy?

Generally, children that are prone to contracting throat infections and have a difficult time

breathing at night because of swollen tonsils are the typical entrants.

While tonsillectomies can help to breathe during sleep and may reduce the frequency

of throat infections in the short-term, Australian researchers found that the removal of tonsils

or adenoids in the throat also increased the chances of allergic conditions and skin and

eye diseases as well.

It is believed that this is because these tissues play a more important role that may

have been previously thought by detecting and blocking the invasion of bacteria and

viruses from getting into the lungs and throat.

The Study According to authors from the Journal of the

American Medical Association, Otolaryngology, "Risks were significant for many diseases

and large for some," after the surgery.

The study accessed health records from 1.2 million Danish children between 1979 and 1999,

60,400 of which had a tonsillectomy, adenoidectomy or a combined surgery.

They then looked at these same children in their 30's and found that those patients

who had a childhood tonsillectomy had actually tripled their risks of infections of the upper

airways, such as colds, rhinitis and bronchitis when compared to those who didn't have their

tonsils removed.

The risk of asthma and pneumonia was increased by around 50 percent in those who had the

surgery.

These infections are already common in the community, authors said that the extra impact

of having your tonsils out was "considerable."

"Our results show increased risks for long-term diseases after surgery, support delaying tonsil

and adenoid removal if possible, which could aid normal immune system development in childhood

and reduce these possible later-life disease risks," said the study's lead author,

Dr. Sean Byers from the University of Melbourne.

"As we uncover more about the function of immune tissues and the lifelong consequences

of their removal, especially during sensitive ages when the body is developing."

The removal of the adenoids — the tissue at the back of the roof of your mouth right

under the nasal cavity actually doubled the risk of chronic pulmonary disease, which includes

asthma and emphysema.

These conditions are much rarer than typical respiratory infections, only 0.25 percent

of the general population in their 30's has a form of COPD.

Authors of the study concluded that it was "not surprising" that removing these key

parts of the bodies immune system might make one more susceptible to contracting a respiratory

or immune-related illness or disease.

Heightened susceptibility to 28 forms of the disease, which included skin diseases, eye

infections, and parasitic infections.

These diseases were 78 percent more prevalent in people who had previously had these surgeries.

Because the aforementioned diseases are unrelated to the airways it goes to show that there

is a greater function to the role of the tonsils than previously thought.

"Our results show increased risks for long-term diseases after surgery, support delaying tonsil

and adenoid removal if possible, which could aid normal immune system development in childhood

and reduce these possible later-life disease risks," said lead author Dr. Shaun Bayers,

from the University of Melbourne.

"As we uncover more about the function of immune tissues and the lifelong consequences

of their removal, especially during sensitive ages when the body is developing."

Tim Mitchell, a consultant otolaryngologist and council member of the Royal College of

Surgeons, said the findings were interesting and "certainly warrant further investigation".

"Before opting to remove tonsils or adenoids, surgeons will always consider and discuss

all treatment options, including non-surgical treatments, with patients, and parents in

the case of children," he said.

"There has been a significant decrease in the number of tonsillectomies and adenoidectomies

performed in the last few decades."

Perhaps this is a good sign that whenever possible, we should leave the organs in the

body.

and replace the blower resistor so I've purchased a new blower resistor we just

need to replace it now so this is the blower right here and here's the plier

resistor you remove this blower resistor and then your bit the two screws you see

there using a Philips screwdriver so right there is a blower resistor I

purchased this new and this is what I'm going to use to replace the barber

sister here I'm removing the two Phillips screws be sure you don't lose

them because the blower resistor does not come with these screws so it looks

like it's okay you can see some corrosion on it but we're going to

replace it and see if this fixes the problem

There was supposed to be an annual congressional picknick but since President Trump rightly

so felt like Congress didn't deserve to have one he canceled it on the spot.

"We are going to cancel and postpone tomorrow's congressional picnic," Trump said.

"It doesn't feel right to have a picnic for Congress when we are doing something very

important."

He added, "It didn't feel exactly right to me."

This is what some have all been waiting to see for decades now.

Since the backstabbers in Congress have been avoiding doing their job for decades, it's

now being reported that President Trump hypothetically took them out behind the woodshed today.

No, he didn't beat them although the Liberal mainstream media may paint it as he did even

worse to them.

But there was only one problem with the cancellation.

The preparations had already begun.

The menu is awesome.

It included ribeye Steaks, coleslaw, quinoa, spinach, black beans and a huge assortment

of pies.

Since all this food was already being prepared President Trump decided to do what's right.

Instead of throwing it out he decided to feed all of the food to Walter Reed hospital patients,

caregivers and employees at the Warrior and Family Center in Bethesda.

This was later confirmed by a USO spokeswoman.

What a beautiful gesture, to give all that top notch food to American heroes instead

of the jokers in Congress.

"President Donald Trump surprised members of Congress earlier this week when he abruptly

canceled the annual Congressional Picnic.

Basically, the president felt like they didn't deserve it.

The menu included "ribeye steaks, spinach, coleslaw, quinoa, black beans and pies."

Rather than let Congress throw a fancy picnic, President Trump's administration decided

to feed all of the food to "Walter Reed hospital patients, caregivers and employees

That means America's military heroes are going to be eating very good.

President Trump has called on Democrats to stop "obstructing" and work with Republicans

to pass comprehensive immigration reform.

Earlier this week, the president signed an executive order to keep immigrant families

together.

Now it's lawmakers' turn to do their job.

"We must maintain a Strong Southern Border.

We cannot allow our Country to be overrun by illegal immigrants as the Democrats tell

their phony stories of sadness and grief, hoping it will help them in the elections,"

Trump tweeted on Friday.

"Obama and others had the same pictures, and did nothing about it!"

Trump isn't the only one who doesn't seem happy with Congress.

Their approval ratings aren't doing so well among voters either.

"It's no secret that Congress isn't exactly the most popular institution in American

government.

But now it's reaching new lows.

Congress sank to a 10% approval rating in a new Quinnipiac University poll released

on Thursday, with roughly five in six Americans saying they disapprove of the country's

legislative body.

This compares to an 18% approval rating in March.

And if you're searching for the main reason behind the drop, look no further than Republican

voters.

Back in January and March, more than one in three Republicans said they had positive views

of Congress, which is controlled by the GOP in both chambers.

But now, that's plummeted to just 14% of Republican voters who give Congress a thumbs

up.

The new numbers come after a high-profile effort to repeal and replace Obamacare barely

squeaked through the House and failed in a dramatic late-night vote in the Senate.

Congress's overall 10% approval is the lowest for Congress in Quinnipiac's history of

data back to 2003.

Using Gallup data beyond that, it's the lowest for Congress in data back to 1974.

(Congress did reach a 9% approval rating in Gallup polling in November 2013 in the wake

of a two-week government shutdown.)

And to make matters worse, Republicans were Congress's most supportive group.

The low numbers stretch across every demographic division — only 12% of nonwhites, 12% of

people under 35 years old, 11% of men, 10% of people over 65 years old, 9% of women and

9% of whites approve.

Woodturning Dye Practice - A Juicy Apple - Duration: 5:16.

Hi, Alan Stratton, from As Wood Turns (www.AsWoodTurns.com) I was about to make my own screw chuck but

then at the Utah Woodturning Symposium, I met Bert from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada who

showed me this cute little screw chuck.

It is a piece of steel with a standard square drive screw up here so that it can be replaced

when they break because they nearly always will break.

The screw is held in place by a square drive bit.

Both are held by small set screws.

Kind of cute little chuck.

The chuck mounts into a standard chuck so it can be exchanged very easily.

Then what project do I use to try out this chuck?

I decided to make an apple.

Since I grew up on a fruit farm and we had apples, I know that it is a rare apple that

is perfectly solid red.

Therefore, I worked very hard with this apple to make it variegated and show the difference

that commonly appear on an apple.

So, this is a project that I'll use to try out this screw chuck.

Do you happen to know what is worse than taking a bite out of an apple and finding a worm

in the apple?

It is finding a half of a worm in the apple.

Let's make this apple.

This wood is hard maple from a baseball bat billet.

It is dry now and slightly distorted.

I've cut off a piece from the billet and mounted it in my shark jaws.

Since it does not fit well, the live center is great insurance.

Cut a short tenon on the end and I'm ready to move on.

Now that the wood is reversed, I still keep the live center in place for a little longer.

It is still good insurance.

I am now starting to form my apple shape with a spindle gouge.

This is not a perfect sphere so I'm only going by eye until I see an apple shape forming.

Then sand up through the grits before drilling a small mounting hole.

While I still have the apple mounted, I'm starting to apply color.

My vision of an apple has a variation in color: reds, yellows, greens, and spots.

So to start with I'm striping reds and some green onto the apple.

I'm starting with red, my view of an apple's predominate color.

I'm applying dye with a cotton swab.

I'm following up with some green dye.

Then sand off a lot of the color with fine sandpaper.

I also try to blend the colors somewhat by rubbing with a paper towel soaked in alcohol.

Next, I'm reversing the apple onto the screw chuck.

I have a small plywood disk at the base of the apple to stabilize this large of a turning.

Now I can turn off the mounting tenon.

Now I can add some more color from this end.

Then sand bank the color more.

With the richer color cut back and smeared, I'm spraying on yellow die for a background

color.

It will not change the red and green much.

Then some more red.

Then, I noted some scratches on the surface and sanded that area again before spraying

on more red.

Then sanded again before spraying with rattle can lacquer.

Since I already had a hole from the screw chuck, I'm re-using it to hang the apple

while I spray on more rattle can lacquer.

I like my apple.

It has a variation of color between red, green, yellow, and black, almost like the apples

from our farm when I was very young.

For me, it was good practice with dyes.

It looks good enough to take a bite out of it.

But I will refrain.

This apple was fun.

And you have to bite down on your tongue, like this.

Next, we have kind of an "a", "apple" sound.

And you've got to make your mouth, kind of big or very wide.

Like this, "a", "a", "a".

Now you try. "a", "a", "a".

The last part is not so difficult.

It's kind of a "q" sound, like in the word "cute".

So maybe not so difficult for you.

So let's say the whole thing together.

An attacking fullback by trade, Walker has largely impressed since switching to the position for the Three Lions March games against Netherlands and Italy.

Its a new position for me, of course Im still learning, the Manchester City defender told reporters.

Ive got great people next to me and the gaffer [Gareth Southgate] as well, whos watching coaching me and making sure I know certain tips in key areas when Im playing in that position.

Hes entitled to his opinion.

He wasnt playing the game, so thats it.

Its not that Ive never felt uncomfortable about it.

As Ive said before, its new tools to my toolbox that I feel will improve my game.

I dont get forward as much, which is a big part of my game.

But I can use my pace in different areas to cover people.

As long as Im on the pitch and England are doing well, Im completely fine with it.

Group G outsiders Panama are up next for England on the back of their 3-0 defeat to Belgium.

Walker believes lessons learned from their EURO 2016 humiliation against Iceland means any slip-ups should be avoided.

I think we've learned a lot.

The team has evolved massively from the Iceland game, he said.

We proved that against Tunisia.

The board went up [for injury-time] and I didnt even realise.

We just kept to our game plan.

We didnt panic and we got the goal at the end of it.

I think that shows the character thats in the team and the belief that we have in each other.
