TIENI la CARTA dei BISCOTTI!! 😜♻ riciclo creativo tutorial - Duration: 3:31.

Hello everyone!

Welcome back to Vivi with Letizia.

In today's project you will see that I will use a particular brand of biscuits but specific

that the video is not in collaboration with so it's not a sponsored video.

If you want to reproduce the project too you can clearly use your package

of favorite cookies, must be tubular.

In the video I'll explain the project starting from a new pack because that's the card

it is not ruined or crumpled.

However you can also use one that you had already open.

I hope you enjoy this video, let me know what you think in the comments below

to the video I also wait for you on Vivi with Letizia NaturalMente,

Live with Letizia Viaggi and Vivi with Letizia - The Group and we'll see you next time.

Hello!

if we use a new package of cookies, we look for it to open the package without rubbing it

and without breaking it, then empty it from all the cookies

we take a big plastic bottle and divide the lower part from the upper part.

then we cut the remaining cylinder in half, we cut off the bottom we finish the edges with

the scissors, then roll the plastic up herself forming a tight tube that can

to be stuck in the biscuit packaging, letting it unroll itself once

slipped. if it was too tight take it lightly and unroll it the most

possible with your fingers. we take the adhesive velcro,

cut it to size and glue it to the edges of the package,

cut the excess and then attack the scotch to reinforce a couple of cm of the

packaging to prevent it from tearing when we open it.

Our case is ready: it's comfortable from use as a toothpaste and toothbrush holder

from handbag or to keep in the office, like case, or to keep in the sea bag to hide

money and keys from the sight of thieves.

#EwangeliarzOP | 18 June 2018 | (Mt 5:38-42) - Duration: 1:59.

[Music]

Why don' t we fight for each other?

Why do we, when the other's overcome by evil, give up so easily?

Jesus says,' When hit or when forced , don't run away, hide, or strike back,

but fight for the human who's in the claws of evil now.

What's the condition of this attitude? Just to fight for the other and not yourself.

There's one condition. I don't treat an attack at me as terribly addressed at me.

I just see more, the human's a victim of the evil. I see myself less as a victim of their evil intentions.

As I'm protected by God, I'm in His hands and He is my shield.

And the bullets, i.e. malice, aggression, can't hurt me if I hide myself behind His shield, God's shield.

And behind this shield, I can have such a peace of heart inside of me which will make me fight for the one against me.

Communication ESP-LoRa V1.0 ESP8266 & Radio RFM95 #LoRa : PDAControl - Duration: 3:51.

Recommended Tutorials LoRa

Recommended Tutorial design of 10 PCB with Seedstudio

Some time ago, I carried out basic tests with LoRa, specifically the modules RFM95 and ESP8266, in breadboard

Make a design in Kicad and make 10 prototypes with the help of Seeedstudio documentation below.

I am still in initial tests and I will try 2 rechargeable Ni-MH batteries 3v, 1300mA x battery, I could use a source, anyway

Really to try I have not done anything new take the same code from previous tests (send - reception LoRa), I'm just proving that if the PCBs work for my application

in slow motion, to see the blue LEDs indicating transmission and reception in the ESP8266 modules, can you see the change?

Well I see that it is well manufactured although the pin limitations for the SPI of esp8266, it only has 2 free pins possibly for I2C communication, sensor screen and free serial

although in the final application it will be OTA, I will use in this case the serial debugging with an FTDI

Let's look at the reception in the Arduino IDE terminal, reception LoRa correct

Well if you want to see more tests or know more about PDAControl

We have some interesting videos with platforms, reviews, protocols and tutorials almost all with documentation and downloads

Documentation in Spanish, I see that there is little content in this language, my native language

Clear documentation in English, there is also the possibility to use the translator of google sites for other languages

Are initial tests, I still do not know how much I hope that little in sleep mode, or that maximum distance hopefully Km, are pending tests and of course then set it in LoRAWAN with TTN.

Complete documentation in the description, well it was only a small quick test, LoRa generates many practical advantages for IoT applications, Regards

Beyoncé And Jay-Z Take Over The Louvre In 'APES**T' Video

Beyoncé and Jay-Zs EVERYTHING IS LOVE may have come as a surprise on Saturday afternoon, but its clearly been in the works for a while.

Look no further than the couples video for the albums first single, APES**T..

Released under the moniker The Carters on Beyoncés YouTube channel, its an extravagantly produced six minutes in the Louvre — yes, the Louvre.

Its packed with high art, pastel suits and turnt up dancers.

The song lives up to the grandeur on first listen — this is clearly one of the catchiest singles to emerge in 2018.

Sell the solution - Duration: 2:42.

Here's a flyer I received in the post the other day and I'm to be honest I'm

not much for Flyers but this one blew me away the title here live the life you

love is an amazing solution it's got nothing to do with product whatsoever in

fact you don't even know what the product is you can probably guess based

on the picture but live the life you love what does that actually even mean

but instantly I was attracted to the flyer because yes I want to live the

life I love and I even loved the name maintain me yeah that's the name of the

business it implies implicit I can already see it's a cleaning business

because I can see the pictures here of cleaning equipment and ladies got so I

understand immediately just based on the visual imagery that this is coming to do

with cleaning but it's giving me the opportunity to live the life I love and

to be maintained and I love those as solutions

it doesn't actually tell me anything that they do yet it just is telling me

what the solution is and it all sounds really lovely now if you flip over the

page again it's just all solutions there's hardly any mention of product at

all time is precious you can't even see probably the the writing there but it

actually says take the stress out spend time on things that really matter life

just got a little easier oh my god I was blown away when I was reading this flyer

and it just it talks about quality it talks about affordable flexible simple

again there's nothing about mopping floors or vaca I mean there's a mop

there but it doesn't tell you about the product now I want you to compare it to

another flyer coincidentally I received this on the exact same day which is the

home office cleaning services weekly fortnightly it's secure it's reliable

and there's a nice list of all of the things that they will do for me sweeping

washing mopping totally uninspiring not at all delivering on the solution that

they're providing they're just telling me about the product I mean it's a

cleaning service really I could probably put two and two together myself for this

particular type of product now just comparing the

thing I wanted to show you was the call to action I ABS these guys have just got

got their language and their promotional material right on book online maintain

me nice and simple they've even got instructions about how

simple and easy it is for me to book 24/7 at my convenience

oh and Jen have decided that I need to get a free quote first by emailing or

phoning presumably so that they can get back to me when it suits them

Meghan Markle Wore the Perfect Fascinator to Her First British Wedding as a Royal - Duration: 3:22.

Meghan Markle sure knows how to make a fashion statement! While attending her first British wedding as a member of the royal family, the Duchess of Sussex found the perfect accessory to her $5,490 Oscar de La Renta wrap dress — a simple but elegant fascinator!

While celebrating the nuptials of Princess Diana's niece Celia McCorquodale, Meghan, 36, opted for a white fascinator, with a neatly-tied bow on top

Celia, who is the daughter of Diana's eldest sister Lady Sarah McCorquodale, tied the knot with George Woodhouse on Saturday at St

Andrew and St. Mary's Church in Stoke Rochford, Lincolnshire. In a sweet nod to his wife, Harry, 33, added a pop of color to his distinguished three-piece suit by opting for a blue tie, which coordinated perfectly with his wife's dress

As the couple made their way into the ceremony, they lit up with smiles while walking hand-in-hand

In a subtle tribute to Diana, Celia walked down the aisle while wearing the Spencer Tiara, which the late princess wore in 1981 when she married Prince Charles

The gorgeous sparkler has become a popular wedding tiara for the Spencer family: Diana's sisters — Lady Sarah (who is also Celia's mother) and Jane — both wore the sparkler for their wedding days, and Victoria Lockwood, who was the first wife of Diana's brother Charles, the current Earl of Spencer, wore it when she married into the famed aristocratic family in 1989 (where little Harry served as a pageboy)

This is Meghan's first appearance since making her one-on-one outing with Queen Elizabeth on Thursday, which took place less than a month after Meghan married Harry on May 19

The outing is seen as the Queen's way of helping immerse Meghan into public royal engagements

"It is the way of the royal family — all part of the training and getting used to being in public life and under public scrutiny," Elizabeth's former press secretary, Charles Anson, previously told PEOPLE

"Showing people the ropes is a high priority for the Queen."Seward, author of the recent biography of the Queen and Prince Philip, My Husband & I, added, "The Queen knows the potential pitfalls of not giving [new members] a guiding hand

She can't expect Meghan to know everything without being shown. I'm sure she feels Meghan needs a steadying hand in these early days

"Meghan returned to public royal outings shortly after her secret honeymoon with Harry, when she joined in the annual celebration of the Queen's birthday, Trooping the Colour, on June 9

Spread operator in JavaScript. Codingame: Scrabble - Solved - Duration: 4:34.

Programming shouldn't be boring.

Let's play with a Codingame's puzzle today.

[Music playing]

Hi!

Let's play and solve a puzzle titled "Scrabble" by Codingame.

I'm Anatol and you are watching the Good Parts of the FrontEnd development.

If this is your first time here, you wanna learn Frontend and JavaScript, start now by

subscribing and don't forget to turn on the subtitles.

[Music playing]

The story tells: When you play scrabble on sundays with your family, the situation quickly

goes out of hand.

What's the best move?

Should you play "pool" or "loop"?

What will grandma do?

Here I propose a new puzzle to calculate the best word to play out of a list.

This puzzle teaches you how to use the nested loops and combine multiple associative arrays

in order to build an efficient solution.

The goal of this problem is to find a word from a dictionary to get the best score at

the popular scrabble game.

The solving of this problem relies on associative arrays and the methodology used to compute

the best score.

Let's take a dictionary.

It contains all the letters from the set and appropriate scoring for each letter.

Keep in mind, that a used character is no more available, so each letter can serve only

one time.

Also let's consider spread syntax.

Spread syntax allows an array expression to be expanded in places where zero or more elements

are expected.

Also use && instead of "if-else" statement.

I've told about it in this video "Mars lander"

Also, let's look at a comma operator.

I've explained it in this video "Mysterious comma operator".

Let's dive into the code.

[Music playing]

Create a dictionary and read input values

Set the initial values

For each word find a maximum score sum for each letter

Save this word

Print it

Run the code

All tests are green

That's pretty easy, isn't it?

Next time let's have a look at the Gift and Greedy Algorithms in JavaScript.

[Music playing]

My code is available on GitHub

Documentation is available in the Internet

How To Tell If Your Gas Struts Are Installed Upside Down - Duration: 1:24.

Hey guys, Dallas here from Dunn & Watson.

Today I'm going to be talking to you about how to tell if your gas struts have been installed

upside-down.

At Dunn & Watson we regularly see gas struts installed upside down.

This isn't only from the general public.

We also see this from some of Australia's leading manufacturers of caravans, camper

trailers and toolboxes.

At Dunn & Watson we recommend that your gas struts should be installed on an angle of

sixty degrees or less.

This is because the cylinder houses a small amount of oil and the theory is that with

gravity, if it's always on a positive angle like this that the oil will pool down the

base here, keeping the seal lubricated and it also keeps the shaft lubricated that's

passing through the seal.

Here we have an example of a correctly installed gas strut because you'll notice the cylinder

is above the shaft and so naturally we're having the pooling of the oil at the base

here near the seal.

What we often see though is customers coming in with the cylinder at the base and the shaft

above it.

Now what's happening is all the oil is pooling here.

So if you've got say 3 to 6 months since you've opened this, this seal will now be dry and

the shaft will be dry also so the operation of this gas strut will actually lead to a

tear.

Once you have a tear in that seal obviously you've created a weak point for gas to escape.

So if you find your gas struts are getting a little tired and you find perhaps you're

doing all the lifting, give us a call, flick us an email or jump on the website.

mailbag monday 31 - Duration: 25:46.

they'll bake mail bake mail beg no bacon they'll bake nail beg more stuff ye but

before we get to that today's beer is grandpa's sweater oatmeal stout from

barn hammer brewing a new local microbrewery here and winnipeg

conveniently located within walking distance of one of my work locations

I've actually been drinking growlers this particular beer for several months

now and I'm excited to find that it's also available one cans five point four

ABV 40 IBU you and Mason alone makes me happy

rich robust smooth comfortable a cat grandfather's sweater it's just nice

it's not quite as creamy ahead to see a Guinness or something

especially the port makes it slow like that but it's still a very nice beer

oh great the meal yeah let's get on with the meal

alright let's start with DIY prototype PCB board PCB $2.00 65 cents stated

value for the purpose of customs Lee a word of it ah it's more Bureau board /

strip board tape stuff excellent and you know I ordered more than just the one

that I opened down the last mailbag and this is five of them well they've got a

nice grid laid out on this side too so that a through X going down that way

a through X going down that way although that looks like it belongs to the

previous board numbered 1 through 24 down there now I'm not sure why these

two have dots screen printed onto them and this first column is special because

it isn't there's nothing special on that side I mean just like the previous ones

which I shall grab here there they are it has tracks running the length and if

you are building your circuit and you need a gap in there you just cut it with

this or with a little drill bit that's nice okay let's let's see how much I

paid for those strip board prototyping 6.5 by fourteen point five centimeters

uncut PCB twenty singles site circuit board five times from Bubble 1992 zero

nine zero 1-0 I paid four dollars and 18 cents Canadian for it with free shipping

Americans could buy it for three dollars and 22 cents

okay next an expansion board module one expansion board module one plastic patch

one a multipack it would appear couple of

chips a little module with a header and a kit yeah let's see what we got here

for the chips I make the fine glass I see oh eight zero three eight

copd okay don't remember what those are obviously

it was a while ago when I ordered them let's go check so this particular

listing had multiple different items in it but the one that I just opened is the

IC you know eight or eight oh three eight DVS signal generator module /ic

DIY sine square triangle wave so this o and DC 12 volts 25 volts got it from

world chips and the two of those were a dollar fifty five with Free Shipping

let's just look down here so again signal generator so it can generate

various different wave shapes where's the actual chip here oh I guess since

the chip is integrated into this circuit it's the same thing

frequency range ten Hertz to 300 kilohertz duty cycle or duty range I

guess two percent to eighty percent that's gonna be duty cycle the low

distortion suddenly have 1% low ish low temperature drift that's good the

triangle wave output linearity 0.1% that's much better

power spike in be anywhere between 12 and 24 volts okay let's see what this

kit is

hmm open it up it's probably the best way to find out obviously came from the

same seller world chips so what do we got in here when two small passive

components a knob-end the pot declined it a couple of trimmer parts no

transistors one diode and one chip what is a chip oh that chip is also a neato

3/8 oh this is this is the same board that we just looked at okay um so what

we got on the silkscreen here oh yes thank you

so we have a duty cycle potentiometer we have a fine and a coarse frequency there

no he'd be in there oh yeah there is one already led refocus and Distortion

frequency range low and high has a little slider switch and the chip what

are you supposed to beside it yeah that's what do we have over here plus

and minus voltage and you have a sine wave a triangle wave a square wave any

ground output that's not bad nice ground point

okay I'm pretty sure this is the one that I ordered there was several

variants on the kit in there blue green yellow one and then when it just says

kits and in the picture it also shows the schematic coming with it an

instruction sheet but this one doesn't have that so I think that's the one I

got it was two dollars maybe four cents again from world chips and we just

reviewed in the previous clip what exactly this thing does so I don't need

to go into it again I guess you should look at the third thing that was in that

same package from world chips it's some kind of we module here bitch

nice and flat and as long as one of its bag I'm gonna get up get out okay what

are you you know since 93 3 or 93 7 on the

screen print oh there we go

VCC dieter ground s theta s o'clock F sync a ground out part numbers for the

board are there Hawaii 9 is that 8 3 3 or 93 7 okay oh so I could zoom and try

and even bigger magnifying glass for that one don't I D 68 and a little

resonator beside it there's something couple capacitors couple capacitors not

much else have to resort to the listing to figure out what this guy is I think

programmable micro processors sine waves square wave 89 8 3 3 BBS signal

generator module oh I was on a signal generator kick when I bought this so of

course it's also from world chips 4 bucks 74 cents free shipping what does

it have to say about it okay depending on the clock rate um you

can get a resolution of 0.1 Hertz up down to point zero zero four Hertz if

you clock it with a one Meg clock Wow serial interface yeah we saw that uses

zero clock three-way or serial interface yeah it can operate between two point

three and five volts which means we're gonna use it with an Arduino or an ESP

if we choose to I don't forgot down here low power you

can open up to twelve and a half megahertz no sinusoidal triangular or

square wave outputs okay so it's another type of signal generator that can do

multiple different outputs I mean idiot I opened the bell and what

next item with the camera turned off so it's from Singapore there wasn't

anything really interesting on the outside of the bag but it is a

software-defined radio USB software-defined radio I ordered this

thing months and months and months and months ago it came with a remote control

which I don't think will be of any use to me

although infrared remote controls are always handy it's got a little battery

protect your sheet in here does it did it came with its own battery batteries

included how do you like that in a way the other thing it came with is a

software with a software CD which I don't think I'll be using mostly because

it'll be Windows software and I've got a Linux machine so anyway for the antenna

magnetic antenna good strong magnet tube connects to this little port on the side

here I can't remember the exact name of that type of connector but it's it's not

unknown it's used in if you'll crack open your laptop

it might be something like that going between the Wi-Fi antenna and the Wi-Fi

module usb on that side so these things are based on an RTL chipset which is

very common chipset for software-defined radios it's got built-in decoders for DB

and DVB which are the European digital television standards which of course

doesn't work in North America because we use a ATSC but the radio chips in it can

be addressed directly with proper software and that's why I bought it

because then you can use it as just a normal FM receiver tunable all over the

place almost like a ham receiver FM for AM receiver actually or as a spectrum

analyzer don't done that's probably gonna use it for if I can get it working

there is some Linux software that works with these apparently I don't have it

loaded up on my laptop right now because I don't think my laptop's got enough

guts to handle it but I'll try it first you try and find the listing for this ok

since I it was a long time ago when I bought this thing I looked it up it was

actually about 6 months literally that it took from when I ordered it to when

it showed up so the listings obviously not around anymore but this is another

listing of the same product from the same seller that so are being snake

winged 2005 yes he actually calls himself snake weighing brilliant I paid

less than this at the time I paid in 560 this particular one's got some shipping

on it too whatever so the search terms you're looking for if you want one of

these things USB okay so do you be Bob about whatever

HGTV don't let that fake you out that's not North American HGTV that's European

the two chips that are in here RTL two eight three two and an hour five are

starting our eight to zero T one of those is the video decoder and one of

them is the radio chip and that's what you're looking for if you want to track

down one of these things there's lots of them and they're cheap

next up digital voltmeter module that sounds cool car does not what's in the

package not even close

these are LED modules oh I think I think these are the LEDs they call Parana LEDs

for reasons that I can't find an explanation for I'm gonna push her - in

there and do not those don't look like resistors but I would expect them to be

what have we got here four tracks okay so this comes in parallel and that it's

a resistor another you're gonna look at the listing yet I just want to find out

if I know about these things so that resistor is 50 ohms 51 ohms okay there's

three of those in peril fifty I don't know anything about these LEDs I'm going

to yes I am I'm going to power them up

how's it right over here mmm

turtle their lives already curious maybe we will have to look at the listing okay

here's here's the listing 5/12 volt LED panel board 12/24 saj 48 piranha LED

panel LED board warm white light from module fans ordered a bunch of stuff

from them so there's several different shapes of board in here like it says

there's the 12 volt 48 LED I didn't get that I got a 24 for 24 LED board so

there is a 5 volt LED board a big honkin resistor on there there is the 12 volt

LED board which looks exactly the same also it's a big honkin resistor none of

the pictures show the back of the 24 LED board you know show the front this one

is the 12 LED board so I'm still not sure exactly which one I got I'm going

to have to try a few experiments to find out okay I figured it out it was my own

dumb mistake I wasn't making good contact with these that's all so I'm

back down to 5 volts cuz that's safer and turn it on and boy howdy she's

bright

so I'm not sure if you can see that over there but at five volts

it's drawing three hundred and twenty milli amps and according to the listing

at five volts it should draw three sixty which is pretty much bang on I don't

want to run it up at all because obviously it's a 5 volt device so it's

just those things those are bright and they're so bright can you see them

through my beer okay they're not quite bright enough for that but and with

these little dome lenses on them they're kind of focused and directional too

so that's neat let's just throw a meter across them just for the fun of it so as

I said before the columns of LEDs in parallel so the voltage drop across one

LED is two point seven eight volts the voltage drop across the resistor is two

point zero seven and the power supply is showing four point nine volts so yeah

that makes sense okay wow those are bright but I still

don't know why they're called puranas so this that I totally opened with the

camera pause is the final thing for today it is a kit it is specifically a

kit that is entirely surface mount and it is our old friends a five five five

and four oh one seven late cheater circuit the part in the middle is the

actual blinky wait circuit all the columns on the sides are just surface

mount practice pads the there's resistors and capacitors of so 1206

resistors 805 command certain resistors 603 caps and resistors

and 402 resistors the resistors are all in series over there that come down to

the pad the capacitors are all parallel so you're adding in all cases and just

making sure that you've got some got your surface mount soldering skills on

point and then the middle part is actually a functional circuit as opposed

to a lot of the soldering practice kits that you get for surface mount soldering

and it is typical five five five oscillator difficult for oh one seven

wait sequencer for the firt for the ten outputs and then the carry output which

acts as an eleventh output essentially goes out through some steering diodes

through some series resistors to the base of four transistors for NPN

transistors to drive for more LEDs which are two three four of those guys so

that's the that's the basic kit on the back is interesting it's basically

emulating one of these PCB rulers so we've got millimeters and centimeters

around the sides here no inches because that's archaic and why would you and

then the sizing layouts for various chip sizes and copper tracer sizes if you're

designing a circuit board of your own which is pretty much the same stuff

that's on these difficult PCB rulers so that's kind of neat and the instructions

that come with it actually have some albeit in Chinese decent instructions

for soldering surface mount using a soldering hand tin the first pad heat up

intact now in the first side of your component making a cell solder fill it

repeat for the other side a self solder fill it

and then for a chip the same thing seen one pad on a corner tack that down and

then seen the rest so that's I mean if it was even written in a language that I

could understand it would be a lot better but still that's pretty neat so I

guess we will go off to the listing now hoping that I don't screw that part up

and we'll see how much I paid for this well that's anti-climatic I couldn't

find the actual listing so here it is in my history DIY SMD rotating LED

components soldering practice board skill training DIY kits i payed door 96

and I'm pretty confident that I got an interaction from a SP underscore EES own

but you can find lots of similar ones just by using those those search terms

here's a bunch that have similar search terms and come up the price can vary

wildly so obviously sort by lowest price first because why wouldn't you but two

or three bucks can get it for you pretty much anytime if you shop smart oh and

there is today's mail big Monday items as usual a wide variety at a couple of

different ways of generating test signals a soldering kit to practice my

SMD soldering which is horrendous good old through-hole euro board or generic

knockoff thereof these ridiculously bright piranha LEDs I mean tree by those

I still want to figure out why they call piranhas and then there's this RTO chip

based software-defined radio that should be fun to play with I'm not sure how I'm

gonna get a video of that because the laptop in my shop is way too

underpowered for that and gonna have to do it upstairs in the living room which

means I won't be able to record up there because it's noisy and eques and just

not conducive to it so I'll have to have to come up with a way of doing that but

that's an experiment in a video all of its own

thanks for watching comments down below thanks to my supporters on patreon for

partially funding the mailbags there's a small and growing number of

people over there that are helping me out and I really appreciate that if you

feel like throwing a buck in my tip jar the links in the description along with

the links to all these things except for that one because I couldn't find the

link alright thanks for watching talk to you later

How Business Analysts Create Value - Duration: 12:00.

I'm Laura Brandenburg, from Bridging the Gap.

We help business analysts start their careers.

Today, I want to talk about how you, as a business analyst, are adding value to your

organization.

We're going to use the concept of return on investment.

We're going to break down, specifically, how business analysis and business analysts

create a better return on investment when they're assigned to critical projects in

their organization.

Let's dive right in.

First, return on investment.

What does that mean?

The acronym for that is ROI.

It's the weight or the value of the return on a project, or what benefit the organization

receives vs. the investment that the organization makes in that project.

If an organization invests in software development team to build or customize or implement a

new software solution in all the business stakeholder time that goes in to figuring

out what that system should do, that's the investment.

The time, the money, the energy that gets invested in creating that solution.

The return is the benefit that organization receives from that solution once it's in

place in the business.

It could be more efficient turnaround time, more customers, more revenue, more efficiency,

relieving staff that can be re-used on other projects, or being able to eliminate exterior

staffing or redundant staffing.

Lots of ways to measure the return on that project.

Business analysts, we impact both sides of that equation.

We help streamline the investment – minimize the investment in the project actually is

– and, also, maximize the return.

Maximize the value we're getting out of that process.

That probably sounds counterintuitive at first.

I want to dig in to the specific ways that business analysts do this and give you a few

examples as well.

Let's talk about how business analysts reduce the investment, or the cost of a project.

This probably does feel counterintuitive if you're thinking…you're a hiring manager

and you're like, "Well, should I add a business analyst to my team?

Isn't that an additional cost?

Aren't I expanding how much this project is going to cost?

Why don't we just get starting coding, because that's what we really need?

We need that code, or we need that configured system into our business user's hands.

Why don't we just skip the analysis and go right to coding?"

Well, we know it doesn't always work that way, but some specific ways that business

analysts help reduce costs, even though, of course, their salary is a line item on your

budget for the project, is that they're going to reduce re-work.

So, when you just start coding and start figuring things out, and then you put that into the

hands of a business user, they're going to be like, "Oh, no.

I didn't really want this.

I wanted that."

All of a sudden, something that maybe seemed simple, gets complex as like stakeholder requests

come in, defects come in, change requests come in, and you have this re-work where you're

going back and revisiting the same code, the same implementation again, again, and again.

That is, obviously, you know, your costs go from here to here.

You add some analysis upfront to figure out what is needed, and that re-work time should

go down.

The other place that business analysts have an effect on project costs is in the reduction

of what I like to call requirements turn, or the time it takes for the business community

to figure out what it is they actually want.

A lot of times, that isn't like a line item cost on a budget.

But if you think about a requirements meeting, especially one that might have high level

stakeholders in the room, there's a definite cost to that meeting.

If you're having duplicate meetings again, and again, and again to discuss the same issue

and never getting to a solution, that's an expense that your organization is taking

on that's bloating the impact, or cost, of what needs to be invested to figure out

those requirements.

Good business analysis is going to help present solutions, create a logical decision-making

process, remind people we went down that road before, we don't need to go down that rabbit

hole again, and plug those communication gaps, and help facilitate communication across departments,

across different levels of the organization.

Yes, that process takes time.

It's not like you put a business analyst in and, snap, they come up with the requirements.

But it's going to take less time and less churn than if you didn't have somebody who

was in charge facilitating that part of the process.

Finally, when it comes to the investment side of the equation, the other way that business

analysts can help is helping find more cost-effective solutions.

When you dial into what problem are we solving – you'll hear me say that again and again

– what problem are we solving?

Why is this project being implemented in the first place?

Sometimes creative solutions just pop up.

They don't even have to be big technology solutions.

Maybe there are tools that you can use that you already have.

Maybe there's a business process change that can get you a certain amount of the way

there.

That's where we can take what maybe was a big investment and reduce that by half and

still get that same return.

It doesn't always happen.

But if it is possible, your business analyst is going to help you find it.

Let's talk about the other side of the equation and how business analysts help you increase

the potential return, or what the benefits are from that project.

Remember, we've made an investment in a solution, and now it's out in the business.

How does that have more benefit?

The first thing is we talked about how a business analyst is always going to go try to find

the problem to be solved.

Not try; will find the problem to be solve.

As part of that, we often discover new business benefits.

While we're looking at this part, is there something here that we can do as well?

I remember early on in my career meeting with an end user who was showing me how they were

copying and pasting documents into this field.

They had to edit it, too, because it wasn't copying right.

It ended up being a simple change to enable the work flow and save them tons of time.

As a business analyst, I could see there was a possibility of as we were touching the system

to add on a piece that would save them a lot of time in their workflow.

Until I saw their work environment, I would have never known that.

It would have never made it into the requirements for that project if we hadn't analyzed their

current business process and understood how their work flowed.

There were lots of ways we could have solved that problem.

It ended up being a small technology tweak that added a lot of value.

That's an example of discovering new business needs that can be easily included in the investment

that's already being made to deliver even more value to the business.

Another way that business analysts support that increase of value is through prioritization.

Typically, it would be like we want all the things, the list of all these requirements

and let's just say it's 100 things.

We hand that to our development team.

They start going through them in order.

Maybe they group them by technical component or area of the system and implement them that

way.

When you do that, and you say all these things are required, maybe the first 10 things aren't

the most important things.

Maybe they're not the most valuable.

Maybe we start working on an area of the system, and three of those things are important and

another five of them are just nice-to-haves that complicate the system more than it needs

to be and don't deliver the value that needs to be.

Relentless focus on that prioritization in making sure the most important requirements

get dealt with first in the project that we know what the most important ones are, which

ones are going to add the most value, and then make sure those are clearly communicated

as part of building the solution.

Another way that business analysts increase that return is the way that they facilitate

this communication with the business community.

I have his story I love to share where I walked into a contract as a consultant and they had

implemented a document management system.

There were business users printing the document twice.

The goal of that system was to reduce paper and make the process more efficient.

After the system, they were printing and writing, and uploading and writing, and uploading and

printing.

Multiple steps, additional steps, in order to use the system that IT said they needed

to use in a way that was going to work with what they understood their business process

to be.

As a business analyst, we don't stop when the solution is built.

We stop when the business has accepted that solution and understands what their updated

business process is going to be.

That's where the real business value gets realized.

One final way that we help increase the return is providing a framework where IT can scale.

If you're a small organization, or with a smaller team, you can communicate well,

and you can have a tight knit team where everybody knows what each other does and who to ask

what questions.

As you start scaling your capabilities and scaling your team and growing your organization,

that informal kind of "everybody knows each other" communication tends not to scale.

And you need somebody in the middle of engaging the new business stakeholders, helping educate

the new business stakeholders, figuring out who knows what in technology to facilitate

that as well.

Think of your business analyst as a role that's going to help that IT team scale to deliver

even more value to the business and help your business scale as well.

Those are my immediate takeaways on how business analysts add value on projects.

It's just scratching the surface.

There's a lot more that we could cover here.

I'm going to challenge you, if you're a business analyst listening in, think about

it.

Are you adding value in all of these ways in your organization?

If not, where could you be adjusting how you approach your work to add more value?

This is what's going to increase your reputation, get you on the interesting projects, be the

person that everybody wants to work with because they know when they work with you, they're

going to have a value-added resource on their team.

If you're a hiring manager or a technology leader, or a business leader who's wondering

if you should start a business analyst team, think about where you're experiencing some

of the pain points that we just talked about and who in your organization could start doing

these activities, stepping in to this business analyst role, and creating a more predictable

project life cycle and development process.

It's going to help your projects be more successful, and it's also going to help

people on those projects be happier because they know that they're contributing to a

successful project as well.

Those are my tips for you.

Leave a comment below.

Let me know how you add value as a business analyst or anything you're going to change

as a result of listening to today's video.
