MY TOP 10 FAVORITE K-POP SONGS OF 2016 [CC] - Duration: 11:32.

Hi, everyone! This is Symone from Symone Books

and I have a bit of a different video

today. This channel is primarily about

books, but I'm also really into anime,

K-Pop and K-Dramas and in the new year I

would like to talk more about these

things on my channel. It wouldn't be all

the time, but I think that it would be

fun to talk about those things every

once in awhile. Today I thought I'd make

a video about my top 10 K-Pop songs of

2016. I listen to K-Pop pretty much everyday

so as you can imagine, I've listened to a

LOT of K-Pop songs. I think I have a

pretty good mix on my list. I have boy

group songs, girl group songs, fast-paced songs,

mid-tempo songs, ballads etc etc. So let's

get into it. But before we get into my

actual top 10 songs, I want to highlight

a couple of honorable mentions that I

really liked this year but didn't quite

make the list.

Coming in at number 10, we have "Same

Place" by Girls on Top.

Girls on Top isn't an active K-Pop

group right now but they performed this

song on the show, Produce 101.

And if you don't know, Produce 101 is the

show that was made to create the group

I.O.I. I didn't watch Produce 101 when it was

going on but I did end up watching some

performances after it was over and I saw

the videos for "Same Place", "Bang Bang" and a

couple others and "Same Place" was

definitely my favorite one.

This song was created by Jinyoung from

B1A4 and he did a really good job.

The chorus of this song is absolutely amazing.

Coming in at number nine we have "Breath"

by Park Hyo Shin and Park Hyo Shin is

basically the god of ballads in Korea.

I've heard a couple of his songs in

passing but "Breath" is the first song of

his that I've really gotten into. A lot

of international fans think Korean ballads

are boring but I love a dramatic ballad,

especially if you have crazy vocals and

Park Hyo Shin definitely does.

Coming in at number eight, we have

"Russian Roulette" by Red Velvet. The girls

finally made a comeback with another red

concept and I was super excited about it.

At first I was a little disappointed

because I didn't feel like it was as

strong as "Dumb Dumb", but "Russian Roulette"

definitely grows on you.

The video was quirky and super

aesthetic, as always.

Coming in at number seven we have

"Whistle" by Blackpink. Blackpink has

really gotten off to a great start and I

think they have the potential to be a

really big group as long as YG

promotes them well and doesn't stick them

in the dungeon.

I really liked all the songs they

released this year. "Whistle" is my favorite

because it's the song that I can play

over and over again without getting

tired of it.

Coming in at number 6 is "Oh NaNa" by K.A.R.D.

It's impressive that this song has made my

list because it's only been out for one

week and it's also K.A.R.D's debut song. K.A.R.D

is a co-ed group which you RARELY see in

K-Pop. There might be a guy and a girl who

do a duet together but it's very very rare

that there will be a co-ed idol group and

there hasn't been one since Co-ed School

and they've been out of commission for

like four years.

This song is super addictive and I feel

like if it came out earlier it would

have been even higher on my list. This

song definitely made me a K.A.R.D fan and

I hope that in the future they continue

with this type of sound and concept.

Coming in at number five we have "TT" by

Twice. Twice might not have the best vocals

or the most complicated choreography but

they always come back with a catchy song

and "TT" is no different. I think "TT" is

their best song so far and I liked it

pretty much instantly.

Coming in at number 4 is "Navillera"

by GFriend. I've been following

GFriend ever since they debuted with "Glass

Bead" and right when I saw them I

remember saying that I knew they would

be a successful group and I was correct.

They have some of the most difficult

choreography among girl groups these

days and their songs are always

fantastic.

Coming in at number three we have

"Decalcomanie" by Mamamoo. Mamamoo is my

absolute favorite girl group. They are

known for their crazy, amazing vocals and

they're probably the most vocally

talented girl group that is currently

active right now. A lot of groups have one

or two members who can sing particularly

well (and this might be out of like

9 or 10 members) but Mamamoo is only

composed of four members and all their

members can sing. It was really hard for

me to pick between "Decalcomanie", "You're

the Best" and "Woo Hoo",

but because I've been listening to

"Decalcomanie" so much these days, I decided

to go with that one.

Coming in at number two is "BoomBoom"

by Seventeen. I really, really love Seventeen. Seventeen is just

a group that exudes happiness. If you're

ever feeling down, listen to a couple Seventeen

songs and your mood will get so much

better. Their songs are all created by

them and I don't think there's ever been

a Seventeen song I didn't like. Woozi, in

particular, has a big hand in creating

their songs and Hoshi choreographs all

their dances.

I'm always blown away by the incredible

unique and explosive choreography that

he puts together.

Not to mention that he has to coordinate

it for 13 members, so I can't imagine how

Hoshi does it.

And finally, coming in at number one ,we

have "The 7th Sense" by NCT U. This song

came out towards the beginning of the

year so it's a really great feat that

managed to hang on long enough to be my

number one song for the entire year.

NCT is my favorite boy group of the moment and

anyone who's into K-Pop at all knows that

NCT has a really interesting and unique

concept going on right now. There are a

lot of people who don't really want to

get into them because of that but I kind

of like the unpredictability of it

because a lot of things in K-Pop ARE

really predictable and you never really

know what's going to happen with NCT. I

support all the NCT units but if I had

to pick one, I would say "U", simply

because they've created my favorite

songs so far. It's more of a hip-hop

R&B type of song which surprised a lot

of people, especially coming from SM

who's known for more pop/dance type songs. I

cannot wait for the next NCT comeback

which should be in the coming months, I

believe, but for now I'm going to leave

you guys with "The 7th Sense".

I'm Rabia from Aleppo.

I'm forty-three years old.

I have twelve children

and I've eight grandsons.

My daughters are here now, but my parents are still in Syria.

Our life in Syria was so good..

We had a shop, a car and some flats for rent.

Our life was good.

Life was good and everything was accessible.

We came to Turkey when the bombing started to get harder,

we lost our house.

We came directly to Ankara.

We asked our relatives on the phone. They had come here before us.

They told us that the rents here for a big family are not so high.

Because I have no one to work..

They said life is good here

And really, if we had come to another city things wouldn't be the same.

I worked with my husband to make a living,

without needing anyone.

For example, I don't have a passport, I came illegally.

There was no one in the border.

No one..

I mean they saw us, but nobody bothered us.

When we first came, as a family we had no one.

Kids are still young..

Their father was a bit sick.

He was sick with us at home, he couldn't work so much.

First, I used the sign language.

then my neighbour started to teach me.

I slowly learned some words.

"Kimyon" (cumin) is "kammon".

"Nane" (mint) is the same..

Rice is the same..

They make it the same way.

I don't get close to people when it's hard to understand each others.

And thank god, neighbours here are so nice and they love us.

As much as you respect your self, people will respect you..

I hadn't seen my daughter for three years.

Since three months only, I knew where she is.

My daughter, she was living with her husband's family.

Shelling was getting harder in Hanano.

We had a phone to contact with her.

We lost the phone..

We went to their flat. We've found out that they've already left.

So I came to Turkey.

She didn't know where I was; I didn't know where she was.

In the end, we found each others,

after two years and seven months.

Having a big family was harder..

Specially the young ones..

Married ones were already married..

Kids need to eat and drink first, also to live in a peaceful area.

Kids got afraid more than anyone.

When aircrafts happened, I could never sleep.

That's the worst thing.

Also if you have girls, you worry about them,

from anything, I mean..

This is how the women feel towards their daughters,

so that they do not to get any insult.

Here my girls are at home and they don't go out a lot.

They don't go anywhere.

I spend the time at home with the kids. Maybe a meal, a visit..

But here, you need to make a living. That's the difference.

For the kids not to need anything

or if they got sick..

Before, everything was available to them.

I didn't used to worry about anything.

But now, if you didn't work, how will they live?

You have to work..

I'm working with my husband to offer a good life for the kids.

I just want to have ID cards for them (the children),

in case they got sick or in case of an aid probability.

For us personally, we're not asking for anything.

Just the ID cards..

No more, no less..

I don't want more or less..

Just to make a living..

We don't want more money or anything..

But in this war, even the rich people they no longer have money.

I swear.. All the people are kind of the same now.

이 여자가 포스팅 할 때 이렇게 썼어, 남자 친구가 너무 그러니까 정이 떨어져서 This girl posted because she's lost her attraction to him because of this,

헤어지려고 하는데 이런 이유로 헤어지는 게 말이 되냐고... But she's not sure if this is a good reason to break up with him.

이런 일로 헤어지기에는 내가 너무 마음이 작은 게 아닌가... 다른 사람들도 이런 일 때문에 짜증이 나는지... She feels like maybe she's being petty, and wanted to know if others would feel annoyed like her.

다른 사람이 난 상관 없으니까 너 먹고 싶은 거 아무거나 먹자고 하는 거. And the other person goes, I don't care, whatever you want to eat.

그런 말이 서로 간에 왔다갔다 하면서 스트레스와 긴장이 생겨. And people always say that back and forth causes stress and tension.

우선 말이야, 왜 먼저 물어보는 거야? First of all why is the person asking?

먼저 물어보는 사람이 자기도 왜 물어보는지 모른다고 하면, And if the person asking the other person says they don't know

그건 자기도 뭐 먹고 싶은지 모르니까 상대방한테 물어보는 것 같아. Then it's like he asked or she asked, so she doesn't know either.

그렇다면 둘 다의 책임이지. So they're both at fault.

둘이 결혼한 다음인지 결혼하기 전인지 모르겠는데 어쨌든 케빈 스페이시가 끼어들어. I think when they were married or before they were married and Kevin Spacey is in it.

숀 펜이 원래 로빈 라이트랑 사귀었었는데, It's like Sean Penn used to date Robin Wright. His character used to date her.

나중에 여자가 케빈 스페이시인지 아니면 다른 남잔지 어쨌든 딴 남자를 만나. And then she dated maybe Kevin Spacey or some other guy.

그러다가 또 헤어지고 숀 펜이 여자랑 다시 사귀게 돼. And then they broke up, and Sean Penn is dating her again.

내 기억에 여자는 자기가 임신한 걸 알게되는데, 누가 애 아빠인지가 애매했던 것 같아. I think she finds out that she's pregnant, but she's not sure who the father is.

여자가 남자 친구를 바꾸는 사이에 임신이 됐으니까. Because they were between boyfriends and stuff.

그래서 숀 펜은 그것 때문에 좀 괴로웠던 거야. So it's kind of bugging Sean Penn.

영화에 이런 씬이 있어, 두 사람이 차를 타고 저녁을 먹으러 나가는데, They have this scene where they're in the car, and they're going out to dinner.

남자가 여자한테 뭐 먹고 싶냐고 물어보는 거야. And he asks her what do you want to eat?

여자는 난 상관 없으니까 네가 먹고 싶은거 아무거나 먹자고 해. And she's like I don't really care, whatever you want to eat.

그러니까 남자가 "중국음식 먹고 싶어?", Then he's like do you want to eat Chinese?

그러니까 여자가 "그거 괜찮네. 난 상관 없어."라고 얘기해. And she's like that's fine. I don't really care, that sounds good.

그러니까 남자가 "정말이야?"라고 말해. And he's like are you sure?

여자는 "난 상관 없다니까, 너 먹고 싶은 거 아무거나 먹자."라고 해. And she's like I don't care, whatever you want to eat.

그러니까 남자는 다시 프랑스 음식 먹고 싶냐고 물어보고, 여자는 그것도 좋다고 그래. Then he's like well do you want French? And then she's like that's good too.

그러니까 남자는 다시 중국 음식이 좋은지 프랑스 음식이 좋은지 뭐가 더 좋냐고 물어봐. And then he's like well which one do you want? Do you want French or Chinese?

여자가 "난 정말 상관 없어."라고 대답하니까 남자가 이번엔 멕시코 음식은 어떠냐고 물어봐. And then she's like I don't really care. And I think he says do you want Mexican?

그러니까 여자는 "난 정말 아무거나 괜찮다니까!"라고 말하면서 두 사람은 싸우게 돼. And then she's like it doesn't matter! And then he's like, you know they start to get into a fight,

남자는 또 물어봐. "프랑스 음식이 좋아, 멕시코 음식이 좋아, 중국 음식이 좋아?" And he's like well which one do you prefer? French, Mexican or Chinese?

그러니까 여자는 "다 똑같아!"라고 대답해. And she's like they're all the same!

그러자 남자는 정말 열받게 돼. And then he gets really mad!

차를 세우고... He like stops the car…

숀 펜이 말해, "그것들은 다 똑같지 않아! 완전히 다르다고!" And Sean Penn is like they're not all the same! They're completely different!

어쩌면 1년 됐을 때 이 문제를 직면하고... Maybe she should have confronted him after a year…

그리고 관찰력이 썩 좋지 않은 사람들의 경우에는, 뭔가 맘에 안드는 느낌은 있는데 And some people who are not observant, they just have a feeling they don't like something

그게 정확히 뭔지를 잘 몰라. But they never figure out what it is.

맞아, 맞아. Right, right.

그들은 그들이 싸울 때 나타나는 특정한 행동들을 알아채지, They figure out certain actions where they get into a fight about that.

상황이라든지. 하지만 상대방이 왜 그렇게 행동했는지 이유가 있을 텐데 Like a situation, but there's some kind of reason why that other person behaved that way

심리적인 이유나 Like some kind of psychological

성장 환경이라든지 Or some situation when they were growing up and it made an impression on them.

태어날 때부터의 성격 특성이라든지... Or that's how they were born, personality wise.

하지만 상대방은 그런 걸 전혀 모르는 거야. But the other person they can't, it's not even like they're trying, they just don't know what that is

하지만 특정한 상황에서 상대방의 그런 행동이 나올 때 그게 맘에 안 드는 거야. But they don't like it when it comes out in a behavioral kind of way in certain situations

그러면서 크게 싸우게 되고. And they get into a fight, like a big fight.

그런 일이 몇 년씩이나 지속이 되면서도 왜 자꾸 그런 일이 생기는지 그 근본적인 이유를 끝까지 발견하지 못하는 경우도 있어. And that could go on for years and they never figure it out.

나같은 사람이나 보통 사람들이, 내가 이런 얘길 하면 듣는 사람이 기분이 나쁘겠지라고 생각하면서 말을 못 하잖아. Most people think I can't tell this person, because they'll take it the wrong way.

그런데 어떤 사람들은 다른 사람의 기분을 신경 안 쓰는 사람들이 있어. But there's some people who don't care what others think.

그런 사람이 한 명 있어야 돼! You need one person like that!

어이, 너 왜 그래? 밥 먹을 때? Hey you, why do you do that when you eat?!!

맞아. 그냥 편하게 얘기하는 사람! Right! Those people who speak their mind freely!

"그만 해. 그거 안 좋아." 그렇게 얘기하는 사람. Stop doing that! It's not good! People who speak like that.

그런 사람 데리고 와야 돼. You have to bring that person over.

재밌는 건, 그런 사람들이 그렇게 할 때 너는 거기다 대고 화를 못내. And those people, what's funny is, when they do that, you can't be mad at them.

맞아. That's right.

아무도 그 사람에게 화 못내. Nobody's mad at them…

맞는 말이니까. Because they're saying the truth.

왜냐면 그 사람들은 맨날 그렇게 하고, 말 할때도 조심해서 하는 게 아니고 Because they're always like that and the way that they do it is not like tip toeing around

상대방 기분 나쁘게 하려고 하는 것도 아니고, "오- 너 그게 뭐야? 그거 하지마."라고 Or to make you feel bad, it's - Oh! What is that? Don't do that!

그냥 직접적으로 지적하는 거지. You just like point it out!

그 여자도 그렇게 너그러운 사람은 아니야. That girl, she doesn't have a big heart.

내 말은, 분명히 그 남자한테 문제가 있는데, I mean that guy's got a problem.

남자가 분명히 참 짜증나는 행동을 하고 있지. It's like he's doing something really annoying,

하지만 여자가 남자에게 그 문제를 말해서 고쳤다면 이렇게 큰 문제가 아닐 수도 있어. But it's not a big deal if she just told him and fixed it.

여자가 남자를 충분히 사랑했다면 Like if she loved him enough,

여자가 충분히 마음이 넓어서 If she had a big enough heart and she said to herself…

이 문제가 우리 관계를 망치도록 놔두지 않겠다고 생각하고 I'm not going to let this ruin our relationship

이걸 고쳐보겠다고 했으면. And I'm going to fix it.

만약 여자가 남자에게 솔직하게 이야기하는 것을 막는 그 어떤 이유들 보다 두 사람의 관계를 더 중요하게 여겼다면. If she thought her relationship was more important than whatever was stopping her from telling him.

하지만 여자는 그렇게 생각하지 않았으니까 나는 두 가지로 생각해: But because she's not thinking that way it makes me think of two things, either:

여자는 그런 식으로 자기 자신을 표현하는 게 무척 서툰 사람이거나 She really is the kind of person where she cannot express herself in that way.

남자의 행동에 대해 솔직하게 자기 표현을 하는 게 당황스러운 거지. She just can't get herself to tell him what he's doing, because it's embarrassing.

아니면 여자는 남자를 충분히 좋아하거나 사랑하지 않았던 거야. Or she doesn't really like him enough or love him enough

두 사람의 관계를 구하기 위해서, 그런 당황스러움이나 혹은 남자의 부정, 또는 관계가 깨질 수도 있는 위험을 To save the relationship, to go through that embarrassment and maybe his denial and

감수하지 못한 거야. Even risk, I don't what that…

내가 이 문제를 얘기하면 싸우면서 헤어질 수도 있다는... If I take this up with him, we could fight and break up.

어쩌면 남자가 먼저 여자한테 헤어지자고 할 수도 있지, 남자는 자기한테 아무 문제가 없다고 생각하니까. Maybe he's gonna break up with her, because he doesn't think he has a problem

여자가 이상하게 군다고 생각하면서. And he thinks she's being weird.

그러니까 여자는 그 어떤 위험도 감수하지 않은 거야. So she's not risking anything.

여자는 어쩌면 문제를 계속 회피하고 있었던 건지도 몰라. She's kind of just running away from the problem.
