Searching For The Yeti Isn't A Complete Waste Of Time - Duration: 4:22.

My favorite monster of ALL time is the abominable snowman! Mostly because I KNOW he doesn't

exist. Like NO WAY! [Scream]

I wasn't yeti for that...

Hey there, little monsters, it's Natalia for DNews!

If you've watched the classic Rudolph Christmas specials, or seen Scooby Doo, or ridden Disney's

Matterhorn ride, you're familiar with the fabled Yeti, or abominable snowman. For centuries,

tales have been told about a giant bipedal ape wandering the Himalayas. In Nepal, legends

of this mythical beast served as warnings to be wary of wild animals. These legends

are not so different from the origin of Yeti's of North American cousin and greatest hide-and-go-seek

champ, Bigfoot, Sasquatch, or Skunk Ape.

These legends led to explorers searching far and wide for evidence of ape men. They've

casted footprints, collected bones, taken blurry photos, and looked for possible Yeti

habitats. There is even a word for those who study animals that are only rumored to exist-

cryptozoology. This not only includes the study of Yeti and Bigfoot, but also of Orang

Pendek, Yowie, the Loch Ness Monster, Mer People, and El Chupacabra. The main critique

of cryptozoology is that very few people follow the scientific method...and the field has

been plagued with hoaxes. But in recent years, scientists have collaborated with these cryptid

connoisseurs to conduct REAL scientific inquires in hopes of finding this possible new primate

species using the gold standard of biology -- DNA evidence. So even though the hunt for

Yeti may seem futile, there is an upside to the increased popularity of cryptozoology.

It allows scientists to teach scientific concepts to a broader audience and, as a result, has

yielded some great accidental discoveries.

Like Bigfoot, the majority of evidence for Yeti's existence has been anecdotal, including

sightings or footprints. However, with the new ability to sequence environmental DNA,

Yeti hunters can now collect biomaterials when searching for this elusive loner. Environmental

DNA, or eDNA, is DNA that is left behind by an individual in its environment. EDNA can

be gleaned from hair, feces, saliva, feathers, soil, blood, blood meals from biting insects,

air (yes air), and water. Because the animal doesn't have to be present to collect eDNA,

scientists can conduct a whole ecological survey without even seeing the animal they're

looking for- like the fabled Yeti!

For instance, in 2014, alleged "Yeti" hairs were collected and analyzed. The sample

came back as a bear hair. But not just ANY bear hair. It was found to be a subspecies

of the Himalayan brown bear that had not yet been discovered. Not a bad consolation prize...

Another upside to looking for Yeti? It allows primatologists, those that study monkeys and

apes like myself, to talk about primate evolution! If you're searching for a new species of

primate, you have to do your homework about primates, right? Well, many 'squatchers

and yeti connoisseurs believe Gigantopithecus, an extinct Miocene ape that lived in India,

Nepal, Vietnam, and Laos roughly 9 million to 100,000 years ago, is the ancestor of these

ape men. Gigantopithecus is a genus with three species, the largest being Gigantopithecus

blacki, which some researchers estimate was over 8 feet tall!

However, researchers are basing the height of gigantopithecus solely on the size of its

massive mandible and a few HUGE teeth. Though parts of Giganto were giant, we don't know

anything about its postcranial morphology -- everything below its head. And if you take

a look at Robust hominins, a bipedal human ancestor, you can see they have a similarly

large mandibles and teeth. But we have fossil evidence of the rest of this species body,

including this partial femur, that reveals they were only about 4 ½ feet tall. So assuming

Gigantopithecus was 8 feet tall JUST based on his jaw and teeth is a bit of a stretch!

As a primatologist, I know that the probability of Yeti's existence is directly adjacent

to zero. Sure, we are still discovering new species of monkeys, including Cercopithecus

lomamiensis in Democratic Republic of Congo, but an 8 foot tall abominable beast? Highly

unlikely. However, the lack of evidence is not proof that it doesn't exist. And it

gives scientists an opportunity to talk about uber cool new conservation science, hopefully

leading to a more science-literate public! That's a future I'm Yeti for. Yeah I said

that...

What about you? Are you do you believe in the Abominable Snowman or Bigfoot? Tell us

in the comments below. And if you're interested in other hominid species and wonder if Neanderthals

were really all the dumb, check out this video right here and thank you for watching.

Rasputin - The Man Behind The Tsarina I WHO DID WHAT IN WW1? - Duration: 10:02.

Larger than life.

Legendary.

Debaucherous.

Mesmerizing.

Master of the occult.

An illiterate pig.

A monk.

A healer.

A scoundrel.

I think I could go on for a few minutes in that vein and only scratch the surface of

the descriptions that abound about the most famous figure of late imperial Russia, Rasputin.

I'm Indy Neidell; welcome to a Great War Bio special about Rasputin.

Grigory Rasputin's life is difficult to document, as his tale has been warped by popular

culture, rumors, and the destruction of documentation regarding his life by the Bolsheviks.

Still, a significant amount of truth can be established by what remains, and that's

what I'll try to do today.

He was born in the small village of Pokrovskoe January 21st, 1869.

His father was a well-off peasant, but Grigory was never educated, as there was no school

in the region and the majority of the village was illiterate.

Grigory apparently underwent some sort of religious epiphany as a young man and possibly

became associated with the Khlysty religious sect.

This was a form of Orthodox Christianity that rejected the abstinent life of the priest

and the veneration of the saint; instead they believed one could experience the divinity

of God through ecstatic rituals like orgies.

Rasputin's daughter later said that he investigated the cult but rejected its values.

It's kind of open to debate.

He did marry, at age 19, Praskovia Fyodorovna, with whom he had four children.

He eventually left his family to travel, to places like Greece or Jerusalem, where he

visited holy sites.

He himself was neither a monk nor a priest, but he had a reputation as a religious wanderer,

who offered his teaching for hospitality, returning home only to help with the harvest.

In the hub city of Kazan he attracted attention from the clergy and aristocracy, who were

fascinated by his interpretations of scripture.

It is debated exactly when Rasputin met the Tsarina Alexandra.

He was already professing his abilities as a holy healer when he arrived in St. Petersburg

in 1903.

I understand that Montenegrin Princess Milica introduced him to the royal couple.

Tsar Nicholas first mentions him in his diary November 1st, 1905, simply calling him a man

of God.

The Tsarina was very religious.

She believed in the power of prayer and prayed for a cure for her son Alexei, who suffered

from hemophilia.

Willing to try virtually anything to heal the heir to the throne, she allowed Rasputin

to see him, and the result was fairly miraculous because the current bleeding spell came to

an end.

This was likely because Rasputin stopped the palace doctor from giving Alexei aspirin,

which acts as a blood thinner and was only making him worse.

But whatever it was, the Tsarina thought he was truly a miracle-working healer.

After this, Rasputin quickly climbed the social ladder in the capital and began associating

with many members of the royal family.

He also gained a reputation for sexual depravity and scandalous behavior to such a degree that

the Prime Minister even asked the Tsar why he would associate with such a character.

Alexei suffered an accident while on vacation in 1912 that led to more hemorrhaging and

it appeared he would die.

Alexandra cabled Rasputin begging for help; his reply was, "God has seen your tears

and heard your prayers, do not grieve, the little one will not die, do not allow the

doctors to bother him too much".

Yet another miracle followed as the Prince recovered and Rasputin became Alexandra's

trusted companion.

Rasputin's magnetic personality was his main attribute.

He was incredibly persuasive and when he entered a room, all eyes were on him.

He was consequently able to calm the Tsar and Tsarina in times of crisis.

Also, because of his humble origins, the Romanovs held the belief that the rest of the Russian

peasantry was as vehemently Royalist as Rasputin.

This was a mistake.

Rasputin quickly became a very controversial figure.

Aristocrats were against him because he had more access to the royal family than they,

the Orthodox Church accused him of spreading false doctrine, rumors even spread that he

was the lover of the Tsarina herself, and Rasputin was hated by both sides of the political

spectrum.

To the left he was a Tsarist and an enemy of democracy, while to the right he was a

pacifist and traitor to Russia.

He had, at the war's beginning, spoken out against Russia taking any part in it, prophesizing,

"If Russia goes to war it will be the end of the monarchy, of the Romanovs, and of Russian

institutions".

By the summer of 1915, his hold over the royal couple was deep and he often advised them.

Most of his influence over events in Russia, though, came after the Tsar dismissed Grand

Duke Nikolai and took personal control of the army in September 1915.

It's suggested that this actually happened because Rasputin persuaded the Tsarina to

persuade the Tsar to dismiss Nikolai, who hated Rasputin and saw him for what he was.

With the departure of the Tsar for the front, Rasputin's influence over royal affairs

grew dramatically.

The Tsarina soon had to deal with a mass political revolt from the council of ministers.

Because of labor strikes and social unrest in the cities, the ministers pleaded for a

new ministry of competent officials that had the support of the people.

Alexandra saw this as total disrespect and asked her husband to stand his ground.

He did, and surprised the ministers by dissolving the Duma and returning to autocratic rule.

Several ministers were dismissed.

Alexandra had arranged those dismissals, but they were recommended by Rasputin, who used

the chaos to have opponents and critics removed from power.

Indeed, over the following months, several ministers were replaced by men loyal to Rasputin.

With him ensconced as the power behind the throne, good government sort of stopped happening

because without his patronage you couldn't remain in office very long, and many of those

that were loyal to him and the Tsarina were pretty incompetent.

Prime Minister Boris Stürmer was one of those.

I talk about him in the regular episodes, but he sometimes refused even to act without

consulting Rasputin or Alexandra, and his German name, the Tsar's family ties to the

Kaiser, and the fact that Alexandra was born German stoked a wave of anti-German hatred

for the royals.

The constant changing of ministers had also broken down most government organization and

there were food shortages and rampant inflation.

And Rasputin's pal Protopopov, the deeply unpopular Minister of the Interior, wished

to turn all the public discontent into a revolution for the purposes of putting it down, to get

Russia out of the war.

By the end of 1916, there were even several coup plots to remove the Tsar from power.

None got off the ground because of poor organization or cold feet, but one plot did succeed; the

murder of Rasputin by Prince Felix Yusupov, though the facts surrounding his death are

still disputed today.

Yusupov originally claimed his motive for the killing was patriotism for the monarchy

that Rasputin was destroying, but later said it was his distaste for Rasputin's debauchery.

Whatever the case, he posed as his own wife and invited Rasputin to his house.

The room for the murder was as soundproofed as possible and Yusupov's memoirs say that

he offered Rasputin cakes laced with cyanide, but Rasputin didn't eat them.

So Felix shot him, piercing his liver and stomach, but that didn't kill Rasputin,

who wisely made tracks.

He made it out of the palace, but was shot in the spine in the courtyard, killing him.

One of Yusupov's co-conspirators then shot him through the head.

Actually, some sources say that it was Grand Duke Dmitri who did the whole killing beginning

to end.

Anyhow, not being experts in murder, they then made blunder after blunder.

They wrapped his body in broadcloth and dumped it off a bridge through a gap in the ice into

the Malaya Nevka River.

They didn't weigh him down though, so he didn't sink, and anyhow one of his boots

fell off and was stuck in the struts of the bridge.

Also, policemen had heard the gunfire, but they couldn't really investigate because

of Yusupov's rank.

Long story short, Rasputin's body was soon found.

But if the murder was carried out to protect improve the image of the Tsar, it backfired.

Once Rasputin was gone, more and more people realized that he hadn't been the problem,

the problem was perhaps the Tsar itself.

Well, Rasputin had done well for himself, no question, considering his origins, but

his legacy was to divide the Russian aristocracy from the royal family, and to make the Tsarist

regime appear to the people to be corrupt and decadent, and by the time of his death,

it was only a matter of time before public resentment for the monarchy, which Rasputin

and the Tsarina had done much to foster, spilled out like so much gasoline waiting

to be ignited.

Macau Vs. Hong Kong: Top 5 Differences | China Uncensored - Duration: 5:47.

On this episode of China Uncensored,

I've got SARs!

You know, Special Administrative Regions.

Hi, welcome to China Uncensored.

I'm your host Chris Chappell.

I'm here in Macau as part of our Pivot to Asia Tour.

Macau is the often overlooked

Special Administrative Region, or S.A.R., of China.

Like Hong Kong, it's officially under the

One Country, Two Systems policy.

That's where Hong Kong and Macau are officially part of China's territory,

but have their own separate governments,

and currencies, and border control.

It was the agreement the Chinese Communist Party made

with the former colonial powers in charge—

because, let's face it, everyone knew

the system in mainland China left something to be desired.

But that's about where the similarities between Hong Kong and Macau end.

And here are 5 major differences.

Number 5: Colonial History

Hong Kong became a British colony in 1842 after the first Opium War.

The British seriously built up the place

and made it into an important, and prosperous, gateway to mainland China.

But in 1997, the British Empire

reluctantly gave Hong Kong back to China—

under the condition that the Communist Party allow Hong Kong

to have a high degree of autonomy.

Unsurprisingly, since 1997,

the Communist Party has been working hard to renege on that promise.

Photos from the handover show that then-leader Jiang Zemin

had his fingers crossed behind his back the whole time.

Macau, on the other hand,

was under Portuguese influence for more than 400 years.

Portuguese first settled there in the mid-16th century,

and it officially became a Portuguese colony in the 19th century.

It used to be a big trading hub,

but as the Portuguese empire declined,

Macau stopped being as prosperous.

Macau's handover to China

happened in 1999 with way less of a fuss than Hong Kong.

Number 4: Languages

The two official languages of Macau are Cantonese and Portuguese,

even though few people in Macau speak Portuguese anymore.

Many signs around the city will have Chinese characters and Portuguese.

But because of the influence of mainland China

and the influx of mainland tourists,

more and more people in Macau are speaking Mandarin.

Hong Kong, being a former British colony,

has long been dominated by Cantonese and English.

However, in 2012, Mandarin narrowly overtook English

as the second most commonly spoken language in Hong Kong,

thanks to efforts by the Chinese Communist Party to spread Mandarin,

especially in the education system.

Number 3: The Economy

The British turned Hong Kong into a world city.

Today it's one of the biggest financial centers in the world,

called one of the Four Tigers of Asia,

along with Taiwan, Singapore, and South Korea.

Macau's economy is much smaller than Hong Kong's.

It's also rich, but for

different reasons.

It's basically Las Vegas on steroids.

In 2013, Macau's gambling industry

was seven times bigger than Las Vegas's,

with a whopping $45 billion in gambling revenue.

Macau is the only place in China where casino gambling is legal.

So it's no surprise

that Macau is the 6th biggest tourist destination in Asia.

But it's also taken a hit recently.

Because you know how gambling is a great way to launder money?

I mean, um, I don't know that.

But corrupt Chinese officials sure do!

But now Xi Jinping's anti-corruption campaign has officials running scared.

Just 12 months after Xi's visit to Macau in 2014,

shares of Macau's six casino operators plunged by more than half.

Number 2: Macau is the model S.A.R.

Between Macau and Hong Kong, Macau is clearly the filial child.

Not like that Hong Kong—

always getting involved in democracy protests,

demanding freedom,

and generally causing trouble for those

hardworking communist officials in Beijing.

Fortunately, in Macau, there is almost no democratic movement,

let alone an independence movement.

That's why Chinese state-run media have praised Macau.

After Hong Kong's 2014 pro-democracy Umbrella Movement,

the People's Daily published an editorial saying,

"Macau people are content and grateful.

Hong Kong people are a bit rebellious and resistant."

Global Times wrote,

"Political stability is the key to Macao's economic development

which ensures social stability.

The One Country Two Systems have maximized Macao's development potential.

And Number 1: Anti-Subversion Law

Imagine police being allowed to burst into your home,

search your stuff, and arrest you without a warrant,

just because you're suspected of "subversion" of the Chinese Communist Party.

Well, Article 23 is a draconian anti-subversion law that could do just that.

In 2003, when Beijing pushed the Hong Kong government to pass it,

half a million Hong Kong citizens took to the streets in protest,

and stopped it.

Macau, on the other hand,

passed Article 23 seven years ago—

with almost no resistance.

Uhh, wait a minute.

Shelley, am I safe here in Macau?

Ok.

So I'm going to wrap this up.

What do you think are the biggest differences between Hong Kong and Macau?

Leave your comments below.

Once again I'm Chris Chappell,

and I've gotta go back to Hong Kong now.

What is the future of Unreal Tournament and the genre? - Duration: 8:30.

Two years ago it was announced that unreal tournament was making a comeback

Back then the arena shooter genre was sort of sleeping and the announcement took a lot

of people by surprize

Since then there has been some good signs of the genre making a comeback

The Doom single player was a big success and now we have a new quake title on horizon as

well

This makes me wonder, are we going to see a big rivalry in the future with the legendary

titles quake and unreal tournament, and is this going to revive the genre in such a way

that we see new titles as well

I think it is fun to speculate, so this video will be about the topic of the future of Unreal

Tournament as well as the genre of similar games

So, what do I hope will happen?

If Unreal Tournament became popular in a mainstream way, I think that would be great for fps gaming.

We have had almost a decade of military themed fps dominance now.

I like a wide variety of games including most of the mainstream ones, but it has gotten

a bit stale recently, to put it in a nice way of saying it.

If Unreal Tournament does well it could inspire other game studios to stray a bit further

from the mainstream way of doing games, and in turn we would have a more diverse selection

of games to play.

So could a game like Unreal Tournament become popular?

In my opinion, yes it could, I am not saying it's going to happen, but it definitely could

happen.

I know there are a lot of people who would disagree with me.

But I think I have good reasons for my opinion.

When I look at other games and their history I make the conclusion that trying to look

at demographics and predicting a games success, based on a profile created that represents

the average gamer, is not useful at all.

If you actually look at what games do become popular, they often seem to come out of nowhere.

Let me give you an example.

Some of the reasons people give for why they think Arena fps can not be popular again are

the same reasons people used to give when they thought Starcraft 2 could not become

popular.

People gave reasons like "the genre is dead" or "its to difficult for new players",

these were appealing arguments at the time, but they proved to be wrong once the game

was released,

Same thing happened before Dota 2 and Global offensive reached mainstream popularity

So the meme that the modern gamer is lazy and only want to play easy games that gives

instant gratification, i think is false.

Heres another point I want to make.

A lot of people looked at the success overwatch and thought that hero shooters would be the

next big thing, some publishers seemed to think the same thing, since some games have

come out since that fit into the same category.

But I think this was an inaccurate assumption, what we should have taken away from the success

of overwatch is not that the hero shooter genre is the future of fps, instead my takeaway

is that people simply want new types of games to play.

Think about it, how many other hero shooter games are actually successful?

Blizzard took a genre and owned it, but it's not like the hero fps genre was an untapped

goldmine.

Risks had to be taken, and design choices had to be made under the assumption that people

would be willing to try something new.

The same thing can be done with the arena fps genre.

This is why I think Unreal Tournament has big potential.

Because the game does not try to borrow any major mechanics from other currently popular

genres, its original in that sense.

And I get the feeling that Epic games are trying to send a trend, rather than following

one.

This is also why I am more sceptical towards the potential of quake champions, I think

Bethesda might have looked at popular trends and then took away the wrong lesson, every

time Tim Willits gives an interview on the game he has to lead with the disclaimer "it's

not a moba".

This to me gives the impression that they might not have as much faith in the genre.

It is true that by following trends you can boost your player base.

But it's often the publishers that are trying to set trends that end up being the major

players.

So these are some of my thoughts of why I think the potential interest for new triple

A arena fps can have an unpredictably large mainstream interest, but what about esport?

Esport is a much trickier subject.

Publishers know now that using esport as a marketing tool can be beneficial, and publishers

have done that in the past, but at the same time we have seen many examples of promised

support of esport that have ended up being nothing more than promises.

Epic games have talked about how they want to work with the community to create a strong

esport scene for Unreal Tournament, but keep in mind that the people telling us this are

community managers and developers, this makes the whole situation unpredictable, im going

to remain cautiously optimistic.

I think a strong esport scene often comes from the grassroots, its very rare to see

a game have a competitive scene unless there's a competitive outlet for non-pro players,

thats why I think a lot of the esport potential for unreal tournament will come down to things

like ingame ladder system or ranked games.

In the non public build of unreal tournament there is a system for matchmaking duel games,

so I would say for sure that this system will exist in the release to some extent, the only

question is how well its going to be done.

For duel I would like to see a some sort of open ladder where everyone can participate,

so at the very top you have the pro players, and this is cool for all non pro players who

can compare themselves to them so that they feel that they are closer to the competitive

scene.

Unreal tournament has also historically always been a game with many game modes, and this

will stay true, this is another thing which makes predicting what will happen even more

difficult since i can not say for sure what game mode will be the most popular one.

From a practical viewpoint duel is the best one, since coordinating duel tournaments are

easier, and its more effective to hype up personalities rather than teams.

But a lot of players don't enjoy esport unless there's a big social aspect to it, so its

most likely that a team game mode will end up being the more appealing mainstream choice.

Epic are working on new types of game modes for UT4 that I think they want to push as

an esport alternative, these new game modes do not have the translocator and I think this

is a very deliberate choice.

The problem with the translocator is that it fundamentally changes the way you move

ingame, so this creates a big divide between CTF players and players of other game modes,

but if you take Epic's new game mode Flag run for example, the way you move and shoot

in that game mode is essentially the same as in Duel, this means movement or weapon

skills you learn in Flag run carries over to other non CTF game modes, and this is the

reason I hope CTF will not be the mainstream team mode for UT4.

In my perfect world, tournaments for Duel would run parallel with a team mode tournament,

with possibly duel matches in between the downtime of the team mode games.

Being a duel player myself, I could live with a team mode being on the mainstage, with some

Duel games sprinkled in between,

I think that is a novel concept that would not really work for any other game, and something

Epic could use to its advantage.

Anyways these are some of my thoughts on what could be in store for Unreal tournament, but

I will say that these things are always highly unpredictable and I will most certainly be

wrong on most points, but it could be fun in the future to go back and watch this video

if I got anything right.

In a perfect world all of the new arena fps games would turn out to be fun games, and

we would have a healthy competition where the most fun ends up being the biggest one.

I think that the most important thing is that the genre has an influx of good games.

That's it for this video, have a good day and see you later

New York City Christmas Vacation 2016 - Letters From Felix [EN sub] - Duration: 30:58.

And with that, welcome from Brooklyn, New York City!

After a long travel day, I finally arrived and can spend two weeks of vacation here.

Typical for New York, the hotel room is small, but has a nice bathroom, nothing to complain about.

Now I just want to lie down there. We see each other the next days, so, stay tuned.

Alright, good morning!

Day 2 already, yesterday was just for relaxing and eating, I didn't filmed anything.

Today I'll go to B&H, Midtown, Manhattan. Some shopping and just looking around.

It is loud in New York!

See you in a bit.

I know they won't win a beauty competition, but...

if you want a burger, nothing fancy, just a good fast food burger: Five Guys! There's nothing better.

B&H Photo, there's nothing that they don't have.

If you need anything for video or photo... this place is heaven.

Video trends 2017: Vlogging with a Legria, old school but still possible, and as an addition: A ring light.

Looks good.

I think the most...

Sshht!

I think the most funny thing that can happen in B&H is,

that the salesmen ask you about your camera, that you're using right now,

instead of you asking the salesmen for help.

It is known, that Macy's is one of the largest stores in the world,

but that you can go to three different Starbucks in here, that's really too much.

I don't know how many floors there are here, eight or nine?

Ok, looks like I didn't filmed anything else after shopping.

And today, after a lazy morning, we head to Chelsea and maybe, not maybe, definitely to Chelsea Market,

maybe even to the YouTube Space and look what you can do there.

And in the evening we'll go to Sleep No More, let's see how that is. Let's go!

That is the door to the YouTube Space, but they didn't want to let me in.

I thought it said 'open houses' on their website.

I thought that means access for all YouTuber, but apparently not or I was on the wrong floor. I'll look that up again.

Alright, Sleep No More is over now, the show was about three hours long after all.

Really, immersive theater...

It's...

definitely something interesting and different.

You try to follow a scene and a few moments later, everybody is running away and the next scene plays.

And there are multiple scenes at once and you don't know what's going on...

Ok, I shouldn't talk about it too much.

If you're in New York, definitely check it out. It's a bit pricey, I know, but it's worth it.

You can also look it up online for more information.

Ok, I can show you the masks, that you have to wear to be somewhat anonymous.

And then it can happen, that you get involved into the play twice, like I did, and that's where the kissing marks come from.

Going to dinner at 11:30pm and finishing at 12:30am... only in Manhattan.

But now really, time to sleep.

Quick tip: Use the express trains whenever you can, definitely worth it.

Ok, time to take a breath in Central Park and enjoy the nice weather.

It's always fascinating, how quiet is here, away from all the traffic noise.

And in the meantime: Pokemon Go. It's not as hyped as it used to be, but you can still play it.

After that we're going to eat.

And a quick update about the YouTube Space situation: I think there was a German-English translation mistake on my end.

Open houses is more like 'day of open doors', and not 'come in whenever you want'.

So yeah... Maybe I can ask them on twitter, if I could go in anyway.

Sunset in Central Park? Definitely nice, but yesterday's was a little bit nicer, vibrant and orange.

Today's sunset is nice too, but a little more average.

Ok, the plan was to visit the Museum of Modern Arts, since it's free on Fridays from 4pm to 8pm.

Looks like some other people had the same idea. Quite busy here, I think we'll come back on a different day.

Ok, brunch, lunch, breakfast, something like that, at Jing Fong is finished.

Crowded by now, but worth stopping here every time.

And after a nice coffee, we can go through Chinetown to SoHo now, a little bit of shopping and then let's see what's up later.

Google store in Manhattan and the people were right, the light in there is perfect for filming.

You really want to film all the videos in there, but it's probably a bit to busy for that in there.

That was a good day that ended with a good meal. I can't remember the last time I had food that's that good.

It's still early evening, but the day was long, so there's nothing wrong with going back to the hotel. See you tomorrow.

Good morning from Brooklyn.

It's cold this morning, somewhat around 30 F.

Nice and cold.

Today's breakfast is from McDonald's, very relaxed.

The day is going to be relaxed, some YouTube stuff, and then let's see what happens later.

After a few hours of relaxed working in bed, subtitles for tomorrow's video are done.

Only thing left to do is writing the blog post, so that everything can be published without any problems.

There are cartoons on TV all day, which can be very entertaining, but I think I should go out, I'm sitting here for a few hours already.

Yeah, maybe Brooklyn Bridge Park and eat something over there, probably pizza to match the shirt.

Now that's a pizza, that's worth going out for.

We went to Table 87 out of coincidence, really good for pizza and well, basically everything.

Apparently the waiter never saw someone eating the Nutella Pizza Pie that quickly...

I mean come one, it's just like a crepes with Nutella :p

Now it started to snow here in Brooklyn.

Winter is coming!

New day, back in Chinatown.

Up there is Casey Neistat's studio, kinda cool to walk by here.

If you look closely, you can even see decoration and tools on the wall.

And now... back to the Google store, since I want to pick something up.

So, I quickly tried out Google VR, Google Daydream.

Very interesting, but I think with a smartphone the image is just too blurry.

But cool to try out, and at this time before work ends in the US, it's very relaxed here too.

And since I couldn't buy it in the store directly, quick stop at Best Buy.

Ok, that Best Buy didn't have any Google Home, probably because the Google employees send everybody there.

We also didn't managed to go somewhere else, so...

Visited a few stores and had dinner here in K-Town, I think you saw some clips.

Now I have a hot cider tea and head back to the hotel, see you later.

I hope you can here me despite the construction site across the street, new building popping up here in Manhattan.

This is 'The Glass Room' behind me, a cooperation of Mozilla and others.

It's illustrating how much data is collected about us, and what is being and can be done with this data.

Sure it's interesting and scary to see, and yet you keep using your devices like before. What can you do?

Well, it's late again, and now we're in Madison Square Garden for a Louis C.K. show. Hope it's good.

I should start to end my vlogs properly.

It was surprisingly crowded while leaving yeaterday, didn't expect that.

Entering the Madison Square Garden is done in a clever way, I'd say,

but leaving is a nightmare.

Today it's snowing here in Brooklyn, you see it's getting white in the background.

Got a quick breakfast from Dunkin Donuts, we'll see what else we do today.

A good old American breakfast later, and I'm on a boat to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island.

We'll see, it's quite cold outside, the waves look big, could be funny...

That's Manhattan,

somewhere back there is Ellis Island, which is the next stop,

and behind me, oh look, I found an European.

The good old Statue of Liberty. Hard to imagine that it was brought here by boat in pieces from France.

Now you can keep walking here for a bit and then head to Ellis Island.

I really want to check out, if someone with my surname immigrated to the US, would be interesting to know.

You've probably seen this memorial in other vlogs already.

It's basically two rings of metal plates with lots of names on them, as well as a third section.

So three sections in total, separated by time periods.

The list has 500,000 names of immigrants to the US who came here through Ellis Island.

Let's check if we can find someone with my name.

Ok, no Beuster among the early immigrants.

Also no Beuster between 1993 and 1995.

Even after 1995, no Beuster in the list. Maybe I should add one?

Behind me is the main building of Ellis Island, where all immigrations were processed.

We walked through it, lot's of big rooms that were filled with people and seating back then.

I would have liked to see a bit more of an exhibition instead of just information texts, but it is what it is.

Now back to Manhattan in roughly that direction, and I think we won't see each other before tomorrow.

Outside it's cold, rainy and not nice weather at all,

perfect day to stay inside, later with the Museum of Modern Arts, but first a good lunch and a juicy bison burger.

Mmm...

Definitely good!

That's it for the Museum of Modern Arts on a Saturday afternoon.

Noticeably less crowded then the free Friday evening, but now it's closing.

Let's see, maybe we find a holiday market, a cider, something small to eat, and tomorrow is a new day.

We're back, new day new luck, this time at the Flatiron Building. It's really flat and always fascinating to look at.

There's a art installation right here, were hammocks should be, but due to the rainy and snowy weather in the past days, they've been removed.

In front of me is Empire State Building and over there is Eataly, where we'll eat something small before the more fancy dinner tonight.

And later tonight at 11:30pm we go out and watch Star Wars.

After all, it's my birthday, time to have a nice and relaxed day and treat myself. Come with me.

And for those who don't know what Eataly is: It's basically like a big mall with lots of small food vendors,

as well as cafes, gelato places and restaurants for pizza, pasta, seafood and so on.

Plenty to choose from, there's even one vendor with Nutella products only, I think I will go there.

Definitely a cool movie theater, also I'm the last one in here.

Who sees it? Cursor on the screen.

It's really nice here with reclining seats and adjustable foot rests, very comfortable.

So if you're in Manhattan at Times Square and want to see a movie, Dolby Cinema at AMC Empire is worth a visit, even though it's more expensive.

$24 for a ticket is a lot, but absolutely worth it, sound and cinema feeling are on point here.

2:30am, 42nd St in the heart of Manhattan and close to Times Square, and there's nothing going on here.

Absolutely nothing, I've never seen it like that.

See? Nothing, except maybe two or three cars. But besides that? Nothing!

Even back there at Times Square, almost nothing. What's going on?

I mean come on, I'm standing right on Broadway and there's nothing, just nothing!

Even here at Times Square is nothing. Absolutely nothing.

Except for people walking through my shot.

Oh, mum wanted a selfie, so...

I think that's good.

Well, that almost brings this trip to an end.

New day with beautiful weather, maybe a bit windy and cold, but nice anyway.

Behind me is Manhattan, nice view from this small park here.

To the left is Jersey City... they try to get bigger but can't keep up with Manhattan.

It's impressive to see from here, how dense Downtown Manhattan really is.

Now I'm heading to JFK airport, going to Zurich, then Berlin, then home. Come on and join me on the last journey.

Finally got off from this plane.

One thing is for sure:

I'm not flying American Airlines again anytime soon.

The customer experience was awful right from the beginning.

I waited for 1.5 hours at check in, because there were issues.

And during the flight, they're not even trying to make up for the outdated airplane with good food.

At least in economy, American won't see me back anytime soon.

I mean, the 1.5 hour wait was not the check in, really just the queue for people with issues.

Or maybe I'm just grumpy because I couldn't sleep on the flight.

And the coffee is not kicking in yet, I need another one.

Did I mention yet, that an airport at this time is really cool? So empty... like Times Square.

A quick security and passport check later, I know have to wait.

My next gate to Berlin is announced in an hour.

So, I sit down here somewhere, probably close to a restroom, and we see each other in Berlin.

And now we're in Berlin!

Arrived, getting in the car and driving home.

Thanks to you for joining me on this trip.

If you want to see more videos, check out the ones to my left and right.

Or click in the corner up there to subscribe.

Or was it this corner? That corner? I don't know, one of the two.

We see each other in the next video, tutorial or travel vlog, until then, ciao!

'Hey Bill Nye, Could the Government Be Hiding Extraterrestrials From Us?' | Best of '16 - Duration: 6:18.

Hey Bill.

So there are many videos online claiming to be extraterrestrial sightings.

It just seems that the government is aware of extraterrestrials yet they reject the idea.

Possibly they're hiding the truth from us in fear of the knowledge greatly changing

our daily lives.

Do you believe these aliens exist and if so would you tell us?

No I don't believe the aliens exist coming to visit you and the government knows about

it and hasn't told you.

No.

Start with that.

Two more things.

First of all the whole alien thing really got revved up in 1947.

There was a project called Sky Hook and the U.S.

Government had these very cool super high altitude balloons and they were going to have

a constellation of them or an armada of these balloons off the East Coast of the former

Soviet Union with microphones tuned to listen for nuclear weapons tests.

This was going to be big fun.

And so they were testing the balloon in New Mexico and it was complicated and the winds

blew the thing around and it crashed and it was impractical.

The idea was kind of cool but it was a cold war idea that just didn't work.

Now this project was secret so yes, government people showed up.

The U.S. Army swept up all the debris from the crash and took it away because it was

secret.

And they also experimented with parachuting dummies from very high altitudes in the same

area.

And this has led to all these fabulous myths about aliens and the government knows stuff

you don't.

Now I look like nobody and I am but I had an engineering job, several of them over the

years, and during one of them I had security clearance.

And I worked on a secret airplane for a little while and I never went myself but I worked

with several guys, they were all men, who went to Area 51 to Groom Lake which is an

Air Force base in Nevada where we fly around these secret airplanes.

And it's a real place.

And these guys went there and when I was doing it it was called level five security clearance.

I only had level four.

I never went to Groom Lake.

But the big thing they wouldn't talk about was how fast these planes could go.

That was a big secret.

But anyway these are people that worked on the F117, a stealth fighter.

If you ever go to the Air Force Museum in Ohio you can see the Have Blue secret planes,

very cool.

As a kid I always asked myself why don't they paint spy planes light blue to blend

in with the blue sky.

Well sometimes they do.

Anyway you can see one of those there.

So it's a complete myth that the government knows.

Just think how hard it is for the government to keep anything secret.

With all due the government kind of sucks at keeping secrets.

So they couldn't possibly keep the secret with 10,000 people in on it.

So let's just set that aside.

But with that said you may very well be alive when we discover life or evidence of life

rather on Mars.

This would literally be alien life.

If we find it, if we find some ancient microbes still alive in some icy layer under the Martian

sand it would change the world.

It would change the way everybody thinks about being a living thing.

Do these things on Mars if they exist do they have DNA or did they have DNA if they have

been fossilized?

Or are they a whole other completely different type of life that we've never thought of.

Did life start on Mars?

Mars got hit with an impactor and you and I are a descendent of Martians?

That is amazing.

It's not crazy.

It's extraordinary but it's not crazy.

Then furthermore you may be alive when we send mission to the moon of Jupiter called

Europa which has at least twice as much seawater as the earth.

When you have seawater for 4.5 billion years is there something alive on Europa?

Whoa like dude, that's out there.

It would change the world.

It would utterly change the world.

This would be real alien life discovered with tax dollars by people who are intellectually

curious who decide to devote some of our intellect and treasure to exploring our nearby planetary

worlds.

And that's the real stuff that I encourage you to support and follow.

And for that of course I encourage you to join the Planetary Society.

Think about that.

You don't have to, I'm just suggesting because we really do advocate for the real

exploration of nearby worlds really looking for alien life.

Also the James Webb space telescope is going to launch in 2018 and it may have the capability

– it is hoped that it will have the capability of exploring atmospheres of extraordinarily

distant planets by having sunlight from those stars that those planets orbit pass through

the atmospheres.

If we detect water vapor and methane it may mean some day that we've detected evidence

of life on another world.

Do, do, do, do – do, do, do, do.

It's all the real stuff is what I'm saying, the real exploration for alien life is more

exciting than speculating about a nominally secret Air Force base in Nevada.

Carry on.

25 Bender Particle Simulations | 4K Version - Duration: 3:53.

1. Here, the particles are affected by an animated "Force" force field and an animated "Turbulence" force field.

2. A large number of stationary particles rotate over time. "Particle textures" were used to progressively get the particles to react to a "Force" force field.

3. A sphere emits fast particles (lightning) which last for a short time. Using a "Particle Instance" modifier, it was possible to get the lightning to emit other particles.

4. A few particles are affected by a "Magnetic" force field. These particles emit smaller particles, which are also affected, but by e lesser extent.

5. A simple morph using Keyed particles, a "Turbulence" force field and an animated shader.

6. Here we have the main particles, which aren't visible in the render, emit smaller particles (the sparks) using a "Particle Instance" modofier.

7. The same thing from number 6. Except this time, there is no gravity. Using a gradient texture, the particles only get affected by the "Turbulence" field when they're old enough.

8. An object made of a number of small spheres (emitter) is emitting particles. There is a "Force" force field with falloff parented to the emitter.

9. A large number of very small particles which are affected by a "Turbulence" force field.

10. Here we have large main particles, which, through the "Particle Instance" modifier, emit smaller particles that react to a "Turbulence" field. These particles are meshed with CubeSurfer.

11. The same concept as number 7. But this time, there are two particle instances.

12. A large group of stationary particles which get affected by multiple animated "Force" force fields.

13. The exact same concept from number 11. Only different fields and shaders.

14. This is basically "particles emitting particles emitting particles". The real complications happen in the materials.

15. A simulation where a cube emits particles that do not react to any forces. These particles then emit smaller particles which react to a "Turbulence" field depending on their age.

16. Millions of particles are being emitted. The movement of these particles is driven by a "Smoke Flow" force field.

17. Same concept as number 14.

18. A number of stationary particles are born in a gradient. The particles are rendered using tha "Point Density" texture in Cycles.

19. Millions of particles moving outward also controlled by a "Smoke Flow" force field.

20. A sphere which emits smoke and 4 million particles (using the "Smoke Flow" field), moves rapidly, causing the smoke, and consequentially, the particles to "dance".

21. Two diverging spheres emis smoke and particles which are affected by a "Smoke Flow" field.

22. A series of particle-emitting spheres are following a curve. The particles get affected by a "Turbulance" field depending on their age.

23. A quickly moving sphere emits particles which react to a "Turbulence" field, but quickly stop, due to a gradient texture that affects the "Damp" and "Force Fields".

24. 4,5 million particles flowing due to a "Smoke Flow" field. It only gets really difficult in the shading process.

25. A combination of different techniques that appeared earlier in the video.

Except for the two purple particle streams which form tho outlines of the "N" of the logo.

They're made using particles that follow a curve using the "Curve Guide" field.

These particles are then used to emit smoke, which is used with a "Smoke Flow" field to control a second particle simulation.

ประสบการณ์จากแลนด์มาร์คฟอรั่ม Landmark Forum Experience - Bonus - Duration: 3:01.

Hello, my name is Bonus.

I took Landmark Forum in October 2013, when I was 18 years old.

What I got from Landmark Forum is that

I could see why people said that I'm aggressive

in the past ...

You know.. I just think that

"I'm just like this."

"It's not what you guys saying at all."

Actually, it comes from one event when I was a child,

which I can see why I have developed like this.

I did something deserved a compliment,

and my mom said..

"It's good what you did."

Then, I just assumed that the way of pointing out at others how they are wrong

and I'm the one saying what should be done

is the way to be accepted and survive in the society.

In the working zone, it works!

I will rapidly see what is missing and complete it.

On the other hand, it doesn't work in the relationship

because...for example, at that time

I always told fun stories after school.

Hey! Dad, mom, today it was like this, like that...

When I finished, they would ask

"What do others think? Bla bla bla"

I thought "Oh you guys didn't listen to me??"

"I'm sure they didn't listen!"

Actually.... I discovered that "I am the one who didn't listen!"

Moreover, I didn't hear what they asked back with love and care

after hearing all of my stories already.

Since I realize this, now I can listen to my parents

and tell them I love them.

I don't feel annoyed when they tell me something

or ask me, remind me in public when I forget something.

In the past, I would be really upset.

This discovery about listening to other people, especially my parents, greatly impacts me.

It is the most valuable thing I got from Landmark Forum.

Another thing I experience and I would like to share is that

I used to think that I don't need to dress up.

Like, just wear something simple...

I also think that dressing up is not necessary for those in the same age.

However.. behind this whole idea, I could catch my little thought that

actually, I just think I couldn't dress up and look as good as other girls.

I compare myself to others.

When I realize it, I suddenly feel free.

"Oh, I can express myself fully!" I thought.

Now I can dress in any styles and learn how to make up.

My limitations disappear!

- The End - Thank you very much :)
