Korea to postpone adoption of controversial history textbook - Duration: 1:48.
After a storm of national controversy,… the education ministry has taken a step back
from the Park administration's drive to replace all middle and high school textbooks with
a single one written by authors selected by the government.
It says it will postpone the plan by one year to 2018… and in the interim, it will run
a pilot project to test the books at select schools around the country.
Lee Unshin is watching the story for us.
Korean schools won't have to use a controversial new history textbook when the school year
starts in March.
Education Minister Lee Joon-sik on Tuesday announced the ministry's new plan regarding
the state-authored textbooks.
"In 2017, schools that want to use the 'correct history textbook' will be part of a pilot
project to test them out, while other schools will continue to use the current privately
published, ministry-approved textbooks."
Lee's mention of a "correct history textbook" refers to the the state-authored textbook
for the country's middle and high school students... written by scholars and experts picked by
the government.
The minister added that the books will also undergo a revision before they're put into
use in the coming school year.
And starting in March 2018, the minister said schools will be able to choose between either
the state-authored text or the current privately published ones.
Lee also said the decision was based on public opinion of the new textbook, collected after
the ministry put a draft of the text online near the end of last month and invited comments.
According to the ministry's data, about 23-hundred individuals submitted roughly 38-hundred comments
during the period from November 28th to December 23rd.
More than 16-hundred of the comments were about the book's content, and 21 of them prompted
the authors to revise the book.
Experts are planning to review 808 other comments in January.
The government's initial plan to require schools to start using a single, state-authored history
textbook in 2017... received strong opposition, with some critics claiming the president was
returning the education system to the country's authoritarian past.
The minister added that he hopes the new plan will resolve the controversy over the original
one.

How to Make a Triple Crochet Stitch - The Triple Treble Crochet - Duration: 2:55.
Hi and welcome to my channel, JobanaBaby.
Today we're going to learn how to do a triple crochet stitch, and that's it, just a triple
crochet.
So the material you'll need for this stitch is a yarn of your choice and a crochet hook.
This is a triple crochet stitch and I'll show you compared to a double crochet.
This one is taller.
And I'll show you why they call it a triple.
So yarn over twice; one, two.
Go inside this stitch with both loops.
Yarn over, pull through, and now you have four loops on the hook.
Yarn over two, one.
Yarn over two more, two.
And yarn over the last two.
So you're basically doing that three times.
Let's do it again.
Yarn over twice and through, pull through two loops.
Yarn over again and pull through two loops.
Yarn over again and pull through the last two.
And there you have your triple crochet.
So we've just learned how to do a triple crochet.

Yes!
So if you or I were to want to learn an exact technique in art whether it be in painting
or sculpting or photoshop.
There is a lot of specific information out there, from school or online on Youtube.
But when it comes to creative thinking, there isn't a specific instruction for coming
up with creative ideas.
If you were to listen to different artists, you might hear of how they come about their
different ideas.
Whether it be through discovery, accidents, or boredom, or so on.
Speaking for myself I spend a lot of time indoors and sitting down for long periods
of time whether its because I'm for example, designing t-shirts or making my own artwork
or even making these videos.
So there's a few problems here.
One, my body doesn't move and I feel like I'm melting.
Physically it feels like your being broken down.
Two, if your trying to discover something for the sake of an artwork, staying at a desk
for let's say 14 hours in a day, might go against the idea of artwork and discovery
or accidents.
Because you might not be putting yourself in the position to discover new things.
But I'm sure discovering in this context goes beyond just stepping outside your door
but more about really observing things or what have you.
So what I've been doing about this is I've been running regularly.
One to keep healthier, but also to allow myself to explore and really observe the things around
me and to give myself a moment to perhaps find inspiration in things that I would often
overlook.
So as I was out today moving around, I took some time to record the different things that
I would see with my iPhone.
But although the clips are of different scenery, I'm not necessarily looking at just landscapes,
but I'm looking at a wide variety of things like materials, textures, colors, objects,
people.
I'm trying to be open to the unexpected and cross my fingers that I get lucky.
And I wanted to share the different things that I saw today with you, so here are the
clips.
So one of the bunkers that I walked passed, it's maybe not a complete surprise to see
some people would camp there.
But what was interesting to see in one of these bunkers aside from the tent was a dressed
up Christmas tree.
Anyways I just thought that was, I don't know.
I didn't want to record video or linger in case I disturb.
